Section 2. Introduction
Metal Gear Solid is back with Ground Zeroes, the prologue to The Phantom Pain. The game serves as a teaser/holdover until TPP is released and gives us a chance to see the new Fox Engine at work and get a handle on the new gameplay mechanics. MGS vets should feel right at home as Big Boss, stealthing and tranquing your way through the game's one main mission, four Side Ops and the fan service Extra Op. Newcomers to the series may be confused as to the story, but should be able to jump right in to the action thanks to new additions such as Reflex.
While there are few missions, each one will need to be played multiple times to earn your 100%. Each mission will need to be played a minimum of twice each on both Normal and Hard, with the exception of the Intel Operative Rescue mission, which only needs to be played once per difficulty. Players will also need to complete each mission with an S-Rank as well as find a handful of collectibles. S-Ranks are easier than they were in Peace Walker and shouldn't pose much of a problem. Collectibles come in the form of XOF patches found in the Ground Zeroes mission and cassette tapes scattered throughout the missions.
Section 3. Walkthrough
Step One- Ground Zeroes
Play through the main story mission on Normal, unlocking the Side Ops. Enjoy the (brief) story and get used to the new mechanics. Collecting the XOF patches and rescuing the escaped prisoner now will save you a bit of time later. You should also keep an eye out for cassette tapes, but these can be found later. Use Maka's collectible guide for help.

Step Two- Side and Extra Ops
Complete each of the four Side Ops and the Extra Op on Normal. Focus on mission-specific trophies now to save yourself extra playthroughs. See Depth, Pacifist, Infiltration, Extraction and Reminiscence for full details. Any S-ranks earned now will save time in the next step. Be on the lookout for cassettes, but don't worry about missing any in this step.
Note: The dlc mission Jamais Vu is not required for Accomplished.

Step Three- S-Ranking Missions
Now that you've played each of the levels you should have a good feel for how enemies act and your own skills should be ready to tackle the S-ranks. Most players will be able to get through these within a few tries but if you're having trouble or just want to speed thing up use Maka's S-rank videos to help get you through. S-ranks can be earned on Normal difficulty.
Note: The dlc mission Jamais Vu is not required for Hero.

Step Four- Hard Mode
Go back and replay all missions on Hard difficulty, earning a cassette and unlocking the first set of Hard trials.

Step Five- Trials and Cassettes
Now is the time to unlock the last of the trials and find any remaining cassettes. Replay all missions on Normal while marking every enemy and simply complete the missions a second time on Hard to unlock the last of the trials. Use Maka's collectible guide for help finding any missing tapes.

Step Six- Cleanup
