It Ain't Easy Being Green Trophy in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater HD

  • It Ain't Easy Being Green

    Find all 64 Kerotans

How to unlock It Ain't Easy Being Green

This trophy is missable and is very easy to miss. Throughout the game there are 64 Kerotans, almost one in every area of the game. Five are during the Virtuous Mission while the other 59 are during Operation Snake Eater. To "find" the Kerotan you must attack it; shoot it with a weapon (lethal or non-lethal) or hit it with a melee attack. When hit it will make a weird noise for a few seconds to indicate you have successfully "found" it. Find all 64 Kerotans in a single playthrough to earn this trophy and the Stealth camouflage at the score screen.

  • This is going to be a pain in the rear! I couldn't find all of them when I bought the game long time ago for PS2
  • Not all that bad actually. Although the bike chase ones can be downright infuriating.
  • I can post a list if you need it, wrote a bunch of FAQ crap back in '04
  • On PS2, for the bike chase, I just used the Patriot and spreaded in the area of the kerotan. If I missed it, I would just reload (save at every room) It's really MUCH easier and faster than the dog tags of MGS2. All animals will probablty be more annoying.
  • Found a glitch with the stealth camo. When you're riding on the bike if you keep stealth equipped, the green stealth outline will begin to warp itself. The outline of the stealth contorts itself making snake look like spikes are protruding in front of and behind.
  • Post the list please? :)
  • Keep in mind the descriptions were written for the traditional camera "birds eye view" prior to the choice of 3d camera (the traditional/birds eye camera also looks up from the bottom of the screen, you can toggle between the two using R3). If a description sounds confusing chances are you need to think about it in relation to traditional camera setup. • You should simply post this in the MGS3 HD forum...
  • I can't get the frog thats on the first part of the bike chase. Too many people shooting at me and EVA weaving all over the place. I can't hit it with the SVD. lame. I suck :(
  • FINALLY!! GOT IT! Thanks for the location list. I was second guessing myself on the frog during the fight with The Fury as I couldn't remember if I heard the sound or not but I just got the trophy! Thanks again for the list!
  • Note: You do NOT have to get all frogs in a single playthrough. I missed one frog on the third bike chase stage, started a new game (using the complete save from my previous run), got it and the trophy popped.
  • very difficult to shoot the one while being on the back of the motorcycle with eva... Remember it from PS2

  • Ok so I figure I would help some people out with this one since this I believe is what gave this game a 5/10 difficulty... everything else is a joke and not difficult to do. First off collecting all of the Kerotans in one playthrough is FALSE! It carries across multiple playthroughs on a single save. I started re-collecting everything up until the volgin boss fight, (the one i realized I got but didn't finish volgin in time, so I got the game over screen, then I re-fought him and didn't collect it.) My trophy popped right after I hit the one during that battle. I didn't have to get all of the bike ones over again... phew! But luckily I was running through the game at only 3 hrs and 27min up until there. Secondly call a SAVE as soon as the bike level starts. Make sure to make two save
  • from here... especially if your going for the PEACE WALKER trophy. Playout the first one and don't kill anyone, ignoring the Kerotans. Then after you get all of your trophies, reload the other save and use the rocket launcher... it will help loads for everything in the forest and the runway since you don't have to hit it dead on. As soon as you hit one and you make it to the next area SAVE... then try for the next one... if you hit it, in the next area SAVE... just repeat until all the bike ones are done and then you will get the remaining no prob and the trophy. Hope that helps for some strugglers out there, cause knowing that would have saved me tons of aiming with the sniper rifle. Although I did get two of them in one shot (pure luck though) Sorry it cut me off half way through.
  • The bike chase ones are a bitch because if you miss one you have exit out of the game to try again.
  • Finally got this one. Lot of luck needed on bike chase scenes.
  • How do you know if you hit it or not in the bike scene?
  • If you're not sure, and you better be sure!! use your direction mic. it will pick it up for a good while before you get too far away to hear it anymore.
  • Does anyone know if you get to keep this thru other playthroughs once you've earned it? Or do you have to get all 64 kerotans again to have it next go around?
  • I got this trophy in one playthough. For the biker part: Patriot: No, SVD: Hell No, Rocket Launched: Yes :)
  • Actually less annoying than the VR missions in 2. Of course there aren't 500 FRICKIN frogs either...
  • SVD makes this quite a challenge on the bike part, RPG + D. mic makes this much easier.
  • …missed at lease 1, SOMEWHERE. No idea where. Already replayed the whole game to get the only 1 I thought I had missed, thought I had audibly confirmed hitting every other one. Really don't feel like spending the hours to walk back through the whole damn thing and tediously hit each Kerotan until I get this (assuming I don't have to reach the end, although it's likely at the end anyway). So probably not going to platinum this after all, for a stupid green frog.
  • @33 this game is super easy though, just put it on veryeasy and plow through it. such a waste of a platinum if this is all you need. I just missed it too on my playthrough and have no idea what one I missed, going to run through it again though with stealth and it should be a cakewalk.
  • Man, I'm so stupid, I passed all the bike chase 2 times to realize that the one I was missing was the one in The Boss fight.. damn.
  • Ya, I remember being able to get this across more than 1 play through. 99% sure it is cumulative. About to find out again... it seems I missed one. Put the GA-KO uniform on as soon as you enter each area, if you hear the frog after you close the menu then that is the one you missed. If you don't hear it, then move on to the next area. This way, you can just breeze through until you find the one you missed. Go on very easy again if it helps.
  • Hey guys just so everyone knows, unlike a few trophies in this game, you DO NOT need to get them all in one playthrough, they are accumulative across multiple playthroughs, I recently found this out after missing one, then replaying the game and found out that I had missed the one on top of the shelf in the mountain ruins. The trophy popped as soon as I got that specific one (and after that - the juicy platinum!) For those struggling with the bike sequences, where as I agree it is a bit of a ball ache they are not as difficult as they first appear, especially if you have the SVD and the Patriot and as long as you save after reaching each new section. Further more the Ga-Ko costume can help detect frogs that you have missed, if after playing through the game, you don't have the trop
  • -trophy, you can simply walk up to the frogs and if you can hear the frog - hey presto - you might have just found the one you were missing. - Finally. If you die, or use the cyanide pill, you must RECOLLECT the Kerotan in that specific area, the game saves upon you coming into a new area, not on you collecting the Kerotan. I found this out after I failed to kill the end before the boss battle, collected the Kerotan, then died to replay the section, but didn't recollect the Kerotan. A very silly trophy, easy to get if you understand how the game works and saves progress. I hope my two comments here help save you lot a tonne of time! Happy gaming.
  • Collectibles are one of the easiest, most pain in the ass trophies, for me anyway.
  • Never did this on the original game (I always play MGS games with no alerts, I must say it was the most annoying trophy to get for this game.
  • Whoever the Idiot decided to put these collectibles in between the motorcycle sequence and boss battles is a total Moron.
