Introduction

Mensa Academy is a puzzle/quiz game with different ways to test your brain in many areas.
There are three different game modes to choose from. Each of these three modes holds 4 trophies. The modes are called Play, Coach and Test. All Test Mode trophies are stackable.

Play mode is a series of 20 levels of incremental difficulty in five different categories (see below for category list). Each level has a set of ten problems and you get a 1/2/3 star reward at the end, depending on your score.

The category list is:

  • Language
  • Numeracy
  • Logic
  • Visual
  • Memory

Coach mode allows you to choose a mini game at will (once it is unlocked in Play mode) and there are bronze, silver and gold medals to be won. These, unfortunately, are not stackable so you must do three runs of a single mini-game to get each medal. In order to earn enough points for a medal you must answer every question correctly in Coach mode.

Test mode is exactly what it sounds like...a Test! You have fifteen minutes to answer thirty questions. All questions are based from the mini-games.

Walkthrough
A few tips to make this easier at the harder levels:

  1. Pausing the game mid-question will stop the timer, allowing you more time to think
  2. Have a pen and paper near you
  3. A Calculator will help for the Numeracy Levels
  4. If you paused the game, but need to see more of the screen, then go to help & options from the pause menu - it will show more of the screen
  5. Google can help in some of the Language mini-games like Missing Letters Gold Tier

Steps 1-5 will be very similar. Each step (with the exception of Step 6 should take in the region of 1-2.5 hours to compete

Step 1 (Language):
Go into Play mode; Language. Play through the first five or six levels. This should unlock all of the mini games available for Languages in Coach Mode. Go to Coach mode; Languages. There are 7 mini games here. Play them all 3 times to get the 3 different medals in each. (Note: once you get the medal, just hit "Play Next Level" to save unnecessary loading). Once you have all of the Medals from the Language Coach mode, go back into Play mode and finish up on the Language section for the stars. Thanks to Coach mode, this should not take too long to finish. In order to get 3 stars in a Play level you must get more than 1000 points. You can afford to get one wrong (and possibly can afford to get 2 wrong but your correct answers will need to be quick)

Trophies acquired in this step:

  • 3 is the Magic Numer
  • Going For Gold

Step 2 (Numeracy):
Similar to Step 1, go to Play mode; Numeracy this time. Play the first 5-6 levels to unlock the mini games. Then go to coach mode, get all of the medals by completing each mini-game 3 times. Now go back to Play mode and get the rest of the stars in the Numeracy Category.

Step 3 (Logic):
Play 5-6 levels in Play mode; Logic. Then go to Coach mode; Logic mini-games. Get all medals and then return to Play mode; Logic to get the rest of the stars.

Step 4 (Visual):
Go into Play mode; Visual. Play 2 or 3 levels because there are only 3 mini-games to unlock. Once you do this, go to Coach mode; Visual, and get all of the medals. Then return to Play mode and finish up the Visual levels.

Step 5 (Memory):
Go into Play mode; Memory. Play 2 or 3 levels because there are only 3 mini-games to unlock. Once you do this, go to Coach mode; Memory, and get all of the medals. Then return to Play mode and finish up the Memory levels.

Trophies acquired in this step:

  • Jack of all trades
  • 20-20 Vision
  • The Bronze Age
  • The Brave 300!
  • Sterling Silver
  • The Great Gold Rush

Step 6 (Test Mode)
Now it's time for you to take the test! After completing all of the challenges and levels from both Play and Coach modes, this really shouldn't pose a problem. If left until last, Test mode can be done in one go, unlocking the rest of the trophies and 100% completion.

Trophies acquired in this step:

  • Above Average
  • Well Above Average
  • Bright Spard
  • Mensa Material

12 trophies ( 7  )

  • Get your first 3 star award for any level in Play mode.

This will more than likely be the first trophy that you unlock. Simply go into the Play game mode. Pick the Language category (or whichever one you'd prefer). In order to get a 3-star award, you must score over 1,000 points. You can afford to make at least one mistake. Just play the 1st level of Languages and you should get it no problem. The trophy unlocks at the result screen.

  • Get a 3 star award for a level in each of the 5 categories in Play mode.

All categories are unlocked from the beginning in Play mode, you can get it whenever you wish. Simply get a 3-star award for the first level in all 5 categories and the trophy will pop after the 5th 3-star award.

  • Get at least 1 star at Level 20 in all Categories.

This trophy is another self-explanatory one. Level 20 will be the final level in any given category. You need to get to level 20 in each of the five categories in Play mode, and then achieve at least 1-star in each of the final levels. The trophy will pop after the last level.

  • Get all 300 Stars.

There are 100 total levels in Play mode, twenty levels in five categories. You must get a 3-star award in all Play mode levels. The last few levels in each category can be tricky due to the timer, but there are ways to make it a little easier.

To get a 3-star award for a level, you must score over 1000 points so try to get as many questions answered correctly and as quickly as you can. You can definitely get one wrong and still get a 3-star award. The trophy pops after you get the final 3-star award.

  • Achieve your first Gold medal in Coach mode.

This trophy is fairly simple to get and the first of the coach mode trophies. To get it, simply go into coach mode, then choose whichever category you prefer. I found numeracy pretty easy because if you have a a calculator it becames a non-challenge. If not then use a pen/paper. You must answer all 10 questions correctly in order to gain a medal. The trophy pops immediately after you get the Gold medal.

  • Achieve a Bronze medal in every mini-game in Coach mode.

You will unlock this trophy easily enough. There are 27 Bronze medals to be won in Coach mode. The Bronze tiered mini-games are jokingly easy so this should not be a problem to achieve. The trophy unlocks right after you win your final Bronze medal.

  • Achieve a Silver medal in every mini-game in Coach mode.

This one isn't too bad either. Some of the mini-games will get dramatically harder than the Bronze level, but they're all still relatively easy. Again, there are 27 Silver medals to be won in Coach mode. The trophy unlocks after you win your final Silver medal.

  • Achieve a Gold medal in every mini-game in Coach mode.

There are 27 Gold medals to be obtained. In order to get the medal, you must answer all questions correctly. Some mini-games can be quite annoying at Gold level but there are little tricks you can use to help. Once you collect your final Gold medal, the trophy pops.

  • Achieve a score of 140+ in Test mode.

Self-Explanatory. You must achieve a score of more than 140 in Test mode. The trophy pops at the results screen. This trophy is stackable:

    See Mensa Material

  • Achieve a score of 160+ in Test mode.

This is best left until last. The test uses several of the mini-games so if you leave it until the end, you will know how to deal with all of the proposed questions/problems. The trophy pops when you get your results. Check here for tips/details on all 27 mini-games

    • If you're getting tied down on one question, try moving to another. It can help
    • Remember to pause the game to save some time
    • Have a pen/paper/calculator nearby
    • You have an average of 30 seconds per question
    • There is room for error, but not much so stay focused ( I got 162 and I also got 4 questions incorrect. So there is room for error with this one.)
    • If you don't get it in a couple of attempts, try the mini-game in which you struggle. Do this by going to Coach mode and then select the game you wish to play
    • Try getting the questions that you can definitely answer, answered first. By using the and buttons you can cycle through the questions; using the button brings you to the overview

The mini games which feature in the test are listed below:

    1. Alchemy - Logic
    2. Chain Reaction - Logic
    3. Decoder - Logic
    4. Equilibrium - Numeracy
