Overview:

Introduction:

Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy takes you on a galactic adventure full of monsters, sarcasm and rock'n'roll. You of course will play as Star-Lord as you and the other Guardians set out to make some credits but not before getting into trouble and involved in a bigger scandal than any trader could've possibly gotten you in.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play through the game and get all of the collectibles

While there is chapter select in this game, it won't help you with the collectibles. For some strange reason, they've made it so if you replay a chapter to collect anything you've missed, it won't actually save. For that reason, you want to make sure you're going for every collectible along the way to ensure you don't miss those 4 trophies. In addition to the collectibles, you want to make sure you keep enough credits to pay off your Nova Corps debt in Chapter 9 so you don't miss Galactic Frugality trophy_bronze.png. The fine will be between 7,000-9,000, depending on some decisions you make in Chapter 1. If you don't have enough to pay it off, you'll have to do a completely new playthrough to get it. Outside of those, make sure you're also upgrading your skills and abilities with each Guardian and keeping an eye out for the combat-related trophies. Most of the combat ones will unlock naturally as you progress but it doesn't hurt to check in on them every now and then just to be safe. The game will take you around 20 hours to complete so doing a whole nother playthrough for anything you may have missed is going to be a bit tedious. The combat stuff can be cleaned up in chapter select but the collectibles can't so make sure you focus on those.

After this step, you will earn:

Step 2: Cleanup

The only thing you should have to cleanup (if anything at all) will be the combat-related trophies. These can all be done through Chapter Select since you don't really need the story to save for them. Please see the individual trophies for more information.

After this step, you will earn:

59 trophies ( 54  25  )

  • Win every trophy.

Collect all of the other trophies in the game to unlock the Platinum.
  • Purchase your first Star-Lord Ability.

The first Ability will be story-related (automatically unlocks in Chapter 1) but for more information on the rest of the abilities, please see Fully Loaded trophy_bronze.png
  • Invest in at least one Special Ability for Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot.

  • Invest in all Special Abilities for all Companions.

This one isn't marked as story-related but as long as you're actively purchasing each Guardian's abilities, you should have this before you complete the game. Each Guardian has 4 abilities. You'll buy 3 for each of them, then their final ability will be unlocked through natural story progression. Star-Lord's final ability unlocks in Chapter 10, Rocket's final ability unlock in Chapter 11, Drax and Gamora's final abilities unlock in Chapter 12 and finally Groot's final ability unlocks in Chapter 14. To purchase the rest of them, you'll need to gain XP during the fights to fill up the Point bar. Each time the bar fills, you'll gain 1 point to spend. Each Guardian's ablities will cost 6 points (1 for the 1st, 2 for the 2nd and 3 for the 3rd) so you'll need a total of 30 points for everything. That might sound like a lot but the game is very generous with the XP given and as long as you're keeping your combos up, you shouldn't have any trouble getting to 30.
  • Acquire the Ice Element for Star-Lord's guns.

    Story Related

You will automatically acquire the Ice Element in Chapter 3.
  • Acquire the Lightning Element for Star-Lord's guns.

    Story Related

You will automatically acquire the Lightning Element in Chapter 7.
  • Acquire the Wind Element for Star-Lord's guns.

    Story Related

You will automatically acquire the Wind Element in Chapter 10.
  • Acquire the Plasma Element for Star-Lord's guns.

    Story Related

You will automaticaly acquire the Plasma Element in Chapter 13.
  • Revive a fallen team member.

There's a decent chance this will unlock naturally. You'll have many opportunities to get it throughout the game. During the fights, if one of the other Guardians takes too much damage, they'll drop down to the ground and a glowing red icon will appear over them. When you get close enough, a triangle.png will appear. Hold down triangle.png when you're standing next to them and you'll revive them. Again, you will have many opportunities to get this, especially when you start getting into the end-game section.
  • Stagger 25 enemies.

As with most of the combat-related trophies in the game, this will more than likely unlock naturally. You'll need to use Drax's Destroy ability for this one (l1.png - circle.png - circle.png). The cooldown on this ability isn't very long so you can be pretty fruitful with it throughout the game. As soon as you've staggered your 25th enemy, the trophy will unlock.
  • Interrupt a Nova Centurion with Gamora's Call to Action.

This is one of 4 trophies that are a bit on the random side (the others being Slakebuster trophy_bronze.png, Groot Canal trophy_bronze.png and Drax the Dismemberer trophy_bronze.png). As you're going through the fights in the game, you'll periodically come up against enemies that you can use a "Call to Action" ability on. A triangle.png will appear above the enemy and when you press it, a random Guardian will do a special attack. The problem is that you can't exactly choose which Guardian does it so you may need to make a few attempts at these trophies.

For this one, you'll need to get in Chapter 7. As you make your way through the chapter, you'll eventually come to Nova Centurions to fight. These are the flying/jetpack enemies with the shiny blue armor (there will be a short introduction cutscene when they first appear). Keep attacking them to drop their health down and when they get to just under about 50%, the triangle.png should appear. Hit it and if Gamora is close enough, she'll perform her Call to Action. If it ends up a different Guardian, just restart the latest checkpoint and give it another whirl. Eventually it will be Gamora and when it is, this trophy will unlock.
  • Interrupt a Slakebeast with Drax's Call to Action.

This is one of 4 trophies that are a bit on the random side (the others being No Way, Nova Corps trophy_bronze.png, Groot Canal trophy_bronze.png and Drax the Dismemberer trophy_bronze.png). As you're going through the fights in the game, you'll periodically come up against enemies that you can use a "Call to Action" ability on. A will appear above the enemy and when you press it, a random Guardian will do a special attack. The problem is that you can't exactly choose which Guardian does it so you may need to make a few attempts at these trophies.

For this one, you'll need to get in Chapter 3. As you make your way through the Chapter, you'll eventually come to a small cage that when opened, will put you face to face with a Slakebeast. Or rather two Slakebeasts. Keep attacking either of them to drop their health down and when they get to just under about 50%, the triangle.png should appear. Hit it and if Drax is close enough, he'll perform his Call to Action. If it ends up a different Guardian, just restart the latest checkpoint and give it another whirl. Eventually it will be Drax and when it is, this trophy will unlock.
  • Interrupt a Charger with Groot's Call to Action.

This is one of 4 trophies that are a bit on the random side (the others being No Way, Nova Corps trophy_bronze.png, Slakebuster trophy_bronze.png and Drax the Dismemberer trophy_bronze.png).

For this one, you'll need to get in Chapter 10 or 13 (though 10 is recommended so you get it out of the way early). As you make your way through the Chapter, you'll eventually come face to face with Ogrodes. They look like stubby wooden golems with a triangular shaped head. Keep attacking either of them to drop their health down and when they get to just under 40% (lower than the previous ones, keep this in mind), the triangle.png should appear. Hit it and if Groot is close enough, he'll perform his Call to Action. If it ends up a different Guardian, just restart the latest checkpoint and give it another whirl. Eventually it will be Groot and when it is, this trophy will unlock.
  • Dismember an Inquisitor with Drax's Call to Action.

This is one of 4 trophies that are a bit on the random side (the others being No Way, Nova Corps trophy_bronze.png, Slakebuster trophy_bronze.png and Groot Canal trophy_bronze.png).

You'll want to go for this one in Chapter 7. The Inquisitor is incredibly hard to miss. It's a giant robot that shoots a laser from its dome so you'll definitely know it when you see it. Keep attacking either of them to drop their health down and when they get to just under 50%, the triangle.png should appear. Hit it and if Drax is close enough, he'll perform his Call to Action. If it ends up a different Guardian, just restart the latest checkpoint and give it another whirl. Eventually it will be Drax and when it is, this trophy will unlock.
  • Attain the maximum possible Momentum 10 times.

While this isn't marked as story-related, it's incredibly unlikely you won't have it by the time you finish the game. When you're fighting enemies, there will be a bar that fills on the left side of your screen. This bar will give you a rating depending on how many times it fills up and will net you XP to buy the Guardian abilities with. To get the maximum possible Momentum, you need to get the "Marvelous" rating. You basically want to keep your combos in line and be killing enemies in quick succession. Using environmental hazards will boost that bar as well so keep an eye out for items you (or your fellow Guardians) can interact with. It doesn't take a whole lot to get Marvelous and once you get it your 10th time, the trophy will unlock.
  • Execute a Flair Attack 10 times.

You'll be doing these with Star-Lord. Occassionally as you're fighting enemies, you'll get a prompt to do a Flair Attack. triangle.png + circle.png will appear above the enemy and if you press the buttons (together) quick enough, you'll perform a dramatic finishing move that will kill the enemy. These don't appear every fight but they appear well often enough to get you far more than the 10 required for this trophy. Just make sure you're keeping an eye out for the prompt and after your 10th Flair Attack, the trophy will unlock.
  • Defeat 15 Staggered enemies with a Charged Shot.

Before you can get this trophy, you'll need to craft the Charged Shot upgrade at the workbench with Rocket (there's one on your ship if you're having trouble locating them out in the open). Once you have it, you'll need to first stagger an enemy, then hit them with the Charged Shot to kill them. The Charged Shot is not a one-shot kill ability so you'll need to burn down the health of the enemies beforehand. To stagger an enemy, you can use Drax's Destroy ability (l1.png - circle.png - circle.png) or use Star-Lord's Ice and Electric abilities. Once they're staggered, fire a Charged Shot at them and if it kills them, it'll be 1 kill towards this trophy. Do this a total of 15 times for the trophy.
  • Defeat 15 enemies with Star-Lord's Fan the Hammer ability.

You can purchase Star-Lord's Fan the Hammer ability for 2 skill points. To activate it, press l3.png then triangle.png. This will unleash an array of bullets onto the enemies and if you can kill any of them while this is active, those kills will count towards this trophy. Kill 15 enemies total with this ability to get the trophy.
  • Defeat 10 enemies affected by Drax's Wrath of Katath ability.

You won't be able to get this until earliest Chapter 12 as that's when Drax's Wrath of Katath ability unlocks (it'll do so automatically, you can't purchase it). Once it's available, you can use it by pressing l1.png - circle.png - square.png. When it's active, a glowing red emblem will appear above the enemy/ies health bar/s. If you kill the enemy while this is active, it'll count towards the trophy. You need to kill a total of 10 enemies with his ability active for the trophy.
  • Defeat 10 enemies with Gamora's Executioner ability.

You won't be able to get this until at least Chapter 12 when Gamora's ability unlocks (it'll do so automatically, you can't purchase it). To activate it, press l1.png - triangle.png - cross.png. This is by far the strongest attack she has and can easily deal the final blow to most enemies. Defeat 10 enemies with it and the trophy will unlock.
  • Defeat 20 enemies with Rocket's Five Barrel Barrage.

You won't be able to get this until at least Chapter 11 when Rocket's ability unlocks (it'll happen automatically, you can't purchase it). When you have it, activate it by pressing l1.png - cross.png - triangle.png. This will unleash a barrage of explosives in front of Rocket and almost guarantee death to anything in front of him (the bigger enemies will of course need a little bit more firepower). Kill 20 enemies with this ability to unlock the trophy.
  • Revive or Heal Companions 10 times with Groot's Gift of the Florae.

You won't be able to get this until at least Chapter 14 when Groot's ability unlocks (it'll happen automatically, you can't purchase it). When you have it, activate it by pressing l1.png - square.png - cross.png. He'll unleash a heal that will heal all 5 Guardians, making this trophy even easier. As long as you're using it each time it's up, you can quickly knock this out with only a few activations. Once the 10th Guardian is healed, the trophy will unlock.
  • Defeat 20 enemies with Star-Lord's Eye of the Hurricane.

You'll first need to purchase Star-Lord's Eye of the Hurricane ability for 3 Skill Points. When you have it, press l3.png - circle.png to activate it. This will fire projectiles that orbit around Star-Lord and will deal damage to any enemy they hit. Unfortunately, they don't deal very high damage so you'll want to burn down the enemies before using this. The enemies must die from this ability for it to count and when you've killed 20 with it, the trophy will unlock.
  • Execute an Auto-Combo with Gamora.

When you're in a fight, if you stand next to an enemy and press square.png, an auto-combo will activate if one of the other Guardians are close enough to you. Do this to an enemy near Gamora so she comes over and does the combo with you. When successful, the trophy will unlock.
  • Execute an Auto-Combo with Drax.

When you're in a fight, if you stand next to an enemy and press square.png, an auto-combo will activate if one of the other Guardians are close enough to you. Do this to an enemy near Drax so she comes over and does the combo with you. When successful, the trophy will unlock.
  • Execute an Auto-Combo with Rocket.

When you're in a fight, if you stand next to an enemy and press square.png, an auto-combo will activate if one of the other Guardians are close enough to you. Do this to an enemy near Rocket so she comes over and does the combo with you. When successful, the trophy will unlock.
  • Execute an Auto-Combo with Groot.

When you're in a fight, if you stand next to an enemy and press square.png, an auto-combo will activate if one of the other Guardians are close enough to you. Do this to an enemy near Groot so she comes over and does the combo with you. When successful, the trophy will unlock.
  • Find half of the Guardian Collectibles.

    MISSABLE

There are a total of 126 collectibles in the game so you'll need to pick up 63 for this trophy. PowerPyx has given permission for us to link his collectible guide directly so please reference that for all of the collectible locations. It can be found here: LINK.

Please note that if you miss any collectible while playing through the story, using Chapter Select will not count towards the collectible trophies. It's the most bizarre working of a game with this many but the only way they'll save is if you play the rest of the game from whatever chapter you started on. If you missed a collectible in Chapter 4 and use chapter select to get it, you'll need to play the rest of the game from Chapter 4 and on and recollect anything you have already picked up along the way. It's bonkers but that's why this is marked as missable.

  • Pay your Nova Corps fine.

    MISSABLE

During Chapter 3, you'll have the option to hide a cute and fluffy monster one your ship or some weapons. No matter which you choose, you'll end up with a hefty fine from Nova Corps that will range between 7,000-9,000. A bit later in the story, you'll earn more than enough credits to pay it back but you'll also have the chance to spend it all and be locked out of this trophy. In Chapter 6, you'll be in a market area with a lot of stuff to buy but to be on the safe side, if you absolutely much spend credits, don't drop below 9,000. In Chapter 9, you'll have the option to pay the fine back. Do so and provided you pay it in full, this trophy will unlock.
  • Win the bet against Rocket.

You'll get this trophy in Chapter 1. As you make your way through the story, you'll be introduced into nests that you can shoot to destroy. These are white, almost web like clumps of round nests that will be hanging from the ceilings and found along the ledge sides (some of them will need to be shot to progress the story as well). After you shoot your first one, Rocket will challenge you to a bet to see who can shoot the most. A scoreboard will appear on the top of the screen and will keep track of how many each of you have shot. You want to make sure you're shooting any you see quickly before Rocket has a chance to. You'll want to have at least 25, just to be on the safe side. When you reach the last story-related nest, the scores will be tallied and if you're higher, you'll win and the trophy will unlock.
