Introduction:

Maquette continues the trend of Annapurna's games combining an engaging story with unique gameplay. In the case of this game, you'll be maneuvering objects and yourself, in mind-bending ways to manipulate the environment. While a bit front-loaded in terms of interesting gameplay, this should be a satisfying and quick Platinum for any puzzle fans.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the story

Simply play through the game and familiarize yourself with each chapter in anticipation of the speedrun trophies.

23 trophies ( 14  7  )

  • You've unlocked all the trophies!

Congratulations on your shiny new Platinum.
  • Completed The Gardens.

The Gardens functions both as the story's prologue and a tutorial of sorts. See TL;DR: Gardens trophy_silver.png for any help you may need.
  • Completed The Maquette.

The Maquette is the game's first real introduction to the main gameplay mechanic. See Earlier Dates trophy_silver.png for any help with the chapter's puzzles.
  • Completed The Gateways.

The Gateways uses different colored gems of different sizes to complete a series of puzzles. See Triumphant Days trophy_silver.png for any help with the chapter's puzzles.
  • Completed The Wedge.

The Wedge is the longest chapter in the game and it requires the most outside-the-box thinking to complete its puzzles. See Getting It Over With trophy_silver.png for any help with the chapter's puzzles.
  • Completed The Escape.

The Escape is essentially a walking level but if you need help making your way through the latter section of the level, see Stressing Escape trophy_silver.png.
  • Completed The Spiral.

The Spiral has a few very unusual puzzles in the back half of the chapter, making use of gravity and physics in a way we haven't seen before. For any help, see Riding the Spiral trophy_silver.png.
  • Completed The Exchange.

The Exchange is the final chapter of the game and functions more as a conclusion to the story than anything particularly challenging. You may need help with the arches or the codes for the pillars, in which case you can refer to Boosting the Pillars trophy_silver.png.
  • Completed Maquette.

This trophy will unlock alongside The Exchange trophy_silver.png after completing the game's story.
  • Completed the Gardens under 3 minutes.

The Gardens functions as Maquette's prologue and is a very straightforward level, with a seemingly strict speedrun time. The trick the game fails to mention is to skip the initial cutscene by holding circle.png, something you'll need to do for each of the speedrun trophies in order to beat their times. See the following video for the route I took:
  • Completed the Maquette under 4 minutes and 10 seconds.

The Maquette is your first real introduction to the game's mechanics and you'll need to be pretty precise in order to beat the level in time. Luckily, there are only a few short puzzles in this level so make sure to skip any cutscenes by holding circle.png and try to take your time when placing the key bridges, to avoid dropping them and having to start over. Linked below is a video showing my method:
  • Completed the Gateways under 4 minutes and 35 seconds.

The Gateways is one of the two most complicated levels in the game and there's a lot to remember in order to get through the level smoothly so make sure to familiarize yourself with each of the buildings you'll be going in and out of before taking this on. A few pointers: don't lose track of where you leave the gems; try to place them in the same spots each time you attempt this so you don't waste precious seconds looking for them, memorize what size each gem needs to be to use on each building and take your time on the rock jumps near the end, as you'll waste a ton of time doing them over. Finally, remember to skip any cutscenes by holding circle.png. See below for a video showing my method:
  • Completed the Wedge under 9 minutes and 50 seconds.

This is probably a runner-up to the Gateways in terms of complex puzzles, but this speedrun is easily the longest. Thankfully a lot of that time is spent simply travelling through giant houses and if you follow my method (errors and all) you'll have almost a minute to spare. Your biggest issue here, other than remembering what to do next, is with the placement of the ramp you'll be using throughout the level. You will notice in my video (linked below) that I struggle in a couple places with putting the ramp where it belongs so just be patient and be absolutely sure the ramp is in the right place or you'll waste a ton of time running back and forth making corrections.
  • Completed the Escape under 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

The Escape is similar to the Gardens, in the sense that the level is basically just travelling from point A to point B, with no real puzzles to speak of and a slightly more generous time limit. There is one section that will require you to follow a set of tracks through a crystal but if you follow the video below, you'll have no issue getting through with plenty of time to spare:
  • Completed the Spiral under 6 minutes 40 seconds.

Your success or failure with The Spiral will ultimately come down to the pillar puzzle when you first head inside. Two things are key here: Make sure the bottom-most pillar has a point touching the ground so you can climb on and have each pillar overlap each other to provide you a solid path. I made a bit of a weird shape in the video below but anything resembling a zig-zag will work. The rest of the level is fairly straightforward, refer to the following video for the final puzzle with the Tetris shaped pieces: LINK
  • Completed the Exchange under 5 minutes and 25 seconds.

The final level is another one that's light on puzzles but if you're not careful, your speedrun will be eaten up traversing the level. The conceit of The Exchange is that you can move the dome that you're inside of by picking it up. Use this to cut down on unnecessary running. If you don't want to chance it, when you reach the tower with the arches, move the dome closer to you before flipping the switch but as you can see in the video, it is doable to simply run to the dome and then move it. For the two tower puzzles, use the video for the codes: LINK

Secret trophies

  • Opened the first of many doors.

This trophy will be unlocked in the Gardens chapter, after finding the first key in the game and using it on the nearby door.
  • Rotated an item for a better fit.

This trophy will likely be unlocked in the Maquette chapter, after finding the bridge and maneuvering it into place using l1.png and r1.png. See Earlier Dates trophy_silver.png if you need help finding it.
  • Changed the size of an object to solve a puzzle.

This trophy will unlock in the Maquette chapter, as part of completing one of the puzzles. See Earlier Dates trophy_silver.png if you need help with the chapter.
  • An early exit.

This trophy can be found partway through the Maquette chapter, once you reach the area with the fair. Head to the back wall where the writing is and just to the right, you will see a series of red bushes you can jump on. Use them to hop over the wall for the trophy. See the following video for a visual reference: LINK
  • Discovered Max, Sandy, Sputnik, Balto, Kitsume, Eggbert, Ms. Mayor, Momo, Rara, Dotsie, Pixel, Daisy, Hudini, Muzik, Luna, Prince, Quincy, Trouble, Jazz, Indie, Bill, Cleo, Khaini, & Pablo.

This trophy can be found near the end of the Gateways chapter. Once you reach the building with the key and the gear appears on the bridge, take the red crystal and jump from the rock over the wall like you normally would to continue the level. After getting the wall to lower, return to that same building and swap the red crystal for the green one. Make the same jump to the rock and over the wall, then head straight for the green gate in the distance. Once you reach the house, you'll see a doghouse next to it, head inside the doghouse for the trophy. See the following video for a visual reference: LINK
  • A leap everyone must take.

This trophy can be found at the start of the Spiral chapter. When the chapter first starts, head through the cave until you can see what looks like the dome floating in the sky in the distance. Head straight forward and you can walk right off a cliff, earning you the trophy.
  • Entered the Arch Tower on your first try.

This trophy can be found in the Exchange, the final chapter in the game. Eventually you'll reach a tower and interacting with something inside will cause a series of arches to appear. In order to unlock the trophy, you need to flip the nearby switch and make it through the gates of the tower on the opposite side of the arches before time runs out. This is doable by running to the dome immediately after flipping the switch, moving the dome to the tower and running through the doors but you can make this a lot easier by repositioning the dome before flipping the switch.
