Introduction

Welcome to 2K Sports annual baseball game Major League Baseball 2K10. This year's game presents a whole new aspect to the battle of the batter versus the pitcher, when Total Control Pitching meets Total Control Hitting. In Total Control Pitching, you are in control of location of the pitch and the speed of the pitch based on your control and direction. In Total Control Hitting, you are in control of the batter as you can be a pull hitter, opposite field hitter, home run hitter, or go for bunts as you control where the baseball lands. This year's edition puts a greater emphasis on creating your very own player and controlling your player as you work your way as a can't miss prospect in the minors to becoming a Hall of Famer in the big leagues through this year's newest edition My Player. Major League Baseball 2K10 is a step up from last year's edition and should prove to be an enjoyable platinum. Following the road map and guide below should help you to A Job Well Done !

Roadmap

Step 1:
You want to create a profile in the very beginning when the game prompts you the first time you load the game. Your profile is the key to Domination, Production, Swingers, Hurlers, and Learning the Ropes. Plus, you want to select yes to always connect to 2K sports so you can download MLB Today for A Day in the Life and Mid Summer Classic (only available on July 14, 2010).

Step 2:
From the main menu you want to go to My Player and create your player you will use to accomplish all the My Player trophies: A Whole New You, This is Why I'm Here, The Goal, The Star, The Start, The Truth, The Call, The Top, and The Hall. You can play on custom sliders to make getting skill points easier as skill points are used to improve your players overall abilities. In the games you play, the game will give you a goal to accomplish when you come up to bat or are on base. Being successful in goals will give you key skill points to use on your player. If you get a 10+ game hitting streak, then your goal points will be doubled and if you play in a "Key Game" then all "Key Game" goals are doubled. There will be many games you need to play called "Key Games," which are if you're in a MVP race with a group of players, chance at improving your shot at winning your division, wild card race, key game against your rival, key game against you inter-league rival, and playing against a top player at your position.

I suggest you play your first two seasons to increase your overall abilities with only a little bit of simming. In games you sim, you earn less skill points and games you play you can earn a multitude of skill points. If you sim, there are times when the game will stop simming, and make you play a clutch moment, and a clutch moment is where you have a goal such as hit a walk off hit.

Throughout your My Player career you will need to meet 2 or more team goals, 5 or more season goals, and 5 or more career goals. Then once you have meet these goals, you go to career decisions and retire and you will enter the Hall of Fame. This will take you at least 5-6 seasons. Expect all My Player trophies to be very time consuming.

Step 3:
From the main menu you want to go to management>rosters and select a team you want to max out the batters and starting five pitchers to use in one year of franchise mode. Once you have made your edits, go from the main menu -> game modes and select franchise. Select your maxed out team and set up no trades between CPU teams, and set all playoff games to a best of 1. Before you skip or play any spring training games, go to records and hit to clear all records to get Remember Me. Then sim all of spring training and play the first game of your franchise and win to get One and 0. Make sure you play at least 20 games in your franchise to unlock franchise trophies, then you can sim the rest of the season and post-season. With your maxed team you should easily make the playoffs nabbing you Booked a Ticket, and then win the World Series to unlock What's Your Ring Size?

Step 4:
Time for some online play. You can boost the online trophies or not it is up to you. Though the great thing about online play is that most if not all trophies all are able to be accomplished in online play. To play online go to Play Now -> Ranked. The online service will search for you and match you up with another player, if you want to boost with a partner then you two need to sync together in hopes you are matched up with one another. Play your first game as the Washington Nationals in a completed game to get Upset Alert, which mean all 9 innings were played, then play nine more games with nine different teams to get The Spice of Life. Also at some point you want to win three games in a row which will get you Count Itand The Road to Greatness. If at any time you beat the New York Yankees, then you will get Team to Beat.

EpidemiK you will either get by playing someone who has played a 2K developer or you actually played a 2K developer in a completed online game and you get this trophy whether you win or lose. Finally, join an online league and win one online league game to gain My Fellow Man.

Step 5:
Now it is clean up time and you can go after any trophies you have left. If you need certain trophies like Production, then create a maxed ratings team and a team with minimal ratings to play with in Play Now mode in a quick game.

51 trophies ( 14  35  6  )

  • Unlock all Trophies

    Congratulations on your Platinum.

  • Get a hit with 2 strikes on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

As the batter, work the count to where you have two strikes (ex. 0-2) and get a successful base hit.

  • Get a strikeout to end the inning on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

    See "Stooges"

  • Steal a base after the 6th inning tied or down by 1 run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Make sure you are tied or down by 1 run and anytime in the 7th inning and going forward steal a base. Max a player base stealing stats out to make this attempt easier and less of chance getting thrown out. Easier to steal on a pitcher with a slow release such as a Chris Young of the San Diego Padres.

  • Turn a double play on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

There are numerous opportunities for a Double Play to happen in game. Most likely occurrence is a batter hits a ground ball to the Second baseman or shortstop and the first out is made at second base (must have a runner on first base) and then the Second baseman throws the ball to first base to get the batter out.

  • Bring in a pitcher, get a save with the tying run on base on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

In the ninth inning, you must be up by three runs or less, and load the bases with enough batters to have the tying run on base. Always best to have you closer warming up in the 8th inning and then bring him in the 9th. You cannot allow the tying run to score.

  • Face 10 pitches as the batter on Pro or higher in a non-simulated game.

This is a tricky trophy as you cannot let yourself get a walk by accident or strikeout early into the count. At most you will have worked the count to 3-2 (3 balls- 2 strikes), and now you need to at least foul off five pitches. A good way to foul off pitches is to swing late and bat with an average hitter. Also thanks to xstat32x, you can move the left or right to compact your swing making foul hits easier.

  • Win after being down by 4 after the 6th inning on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Make sure you are down by 4 runs after the 6th inning and make the comeback to win. If you need extra innings to win, then that is ok as all you need to do is come back from being down by 4 runs after the 6th inning. Good way to do this play as the NL/AL All-Star team against the Washington Nationals and intentionally walk in 4 runs to ensure you are down by 4 runs after the 6th inning.

  • Truck the Catcher and score on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

The trick here is you knock over the catcher, and catcher has to drop the ball for you to score at home plate. But the problem is the catcher more often than not does not drop the ball. A way around this is to edit any catcher and change their height and weight to the lowest possible and their fielding ratings to the lowest possible.

Also DO NOT SLIDE as you need to plow in to the catcher to ensure he drops the ball.

  • Be successful in a major-league clutch moment in My Player Mode.

Throughout your My Player career you will have moments in game where you are presented with a clutch moment. Clutch moments can involve anything from: getting an extra base hit, moving the runner to scoring position and getting a walk of hit. Key here is you will have many clutch moments in your career. Just be successful one time and this trophy will appear.

  • Throw a MAX pitch 3 consecutive times with Total Control on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Use a good pitcher such as Tim Lincecum or C.C Sabathia and throw fastballs with Total Control Pitching on. You know when you have a max pitch, when the outer yellow circle changes to red and says "MAX" then release your pitch. Do this three times in a row.

  • Throw a Perfect Game or a No-Hitter on Pro or higher in a 9 inning game, in a non-simulated game.

The easiest way is to edit a team where all the batters have the worst batting abilities, and you are using a good team, such as the New York Yankees. Make sure you allow no runs and no hits. but walks are OK. At some point in the game you need to score a run to win the game.

  • Hit 3 Home Runs in a single game with the same player on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

During any single game, hit three home-runs with any one player. If you use the Brewers for example, move Prince Fielder to the lead-off spot to ensure your chances of having him bat at least 3 times and possible more to get three home runs in a single game.

  • Hit a Walk-off Home Run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

This can be done in 3 inning game. You must be playing as the home team in the bottom of the last inning and with your batter hit a game winning home-run. Inside the park home-run does not count.

  • Strikeout all three hitters in the inning on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

In any inning strike out the three hitters you face. You can edit the first three hitters of the opposing team you will be playing to have the lowest batting abilities to increase your chances of striking them out. By striking out the last batter you will also get Grab some Pine.

  • Rob a Home Run on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

To help your chances at robbing a home run you need to edit the three outfielders on the team your playing as to have max fielding and speed abilities. Then you constantly need to check/adjust your outfield depth as you need to be playing deep. Then when the opportunity presents itself to rob a home run, you need to hit square when it says "Climb Wall" (only time a home run that is able to be robbed). As you run towards the spot a meter will appear and make sure you stay in the green to be help your climb. Lastly, cross fingers and hopefully you will have robbed a home-run.

  • Throw out a runner stealing a base on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

You can edit a player to have max aggressiveness and slow acceleration to make throwing the base runner out easier, but you will have numerous opportunities for this if you are playing a close game after the 6th inning and there is a runner on base.

  • Get 3 consecutive batters on base on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

You can edit three batters to have max batting abilities (by getting hits or getting walks), but throughout your game playing you will encounter opportunities to get three hits in a row or a combination of hits and walks to get three consecutive batters on base.

  • Strike out a batter with a pitcher who has low composure on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

Intentionally walk three batters to load the bases. Use a pitcher with good composure such as Tim Lincecum, whose composure will go down but still good enough to locate your pitches to strike out the next batter.

  • Get a 2-out RBI Hit on Pro or higher, in a non-simulated game.

In any inning with 2 outs on the board already, get a successful base hit that scores a RBI. Must have a runner on second or third base to drive in for the score.

  • Get called up to the Majors in My Player Mode.

With your created player, you will need to meet numerous goals set forth by your team in order to be called up to the majors. Some goals include playing 15 games, increasing your right and left contact to 60, and having a certain hitting average. Meet the goals set forth your team you will get the call.

  • Accomplish a Team Season Goal in My Player Mode.

When you are in the majors, your ball club will set a season goal for team based on how your team performed the year before. Goals can range from winning the division, winning 10 more games than last season and becoming a dynasty. Once the season is over and if you accomplished the team goal the trophy will appear.

  • Become the #1 ranked player in your My Player organization.

You must become the overall top player on your team. The longer you play the better you will get, but other players on the team can either increase or decrease. If you cannot become the top rated player, then you can request a trade to team without superstars by going to career decisions.

  • Make the All-Star team in My Player mode.

Sometime during 15 seasons, if you had a good first half of the season you will be selected as an All-Star. When you select to play the All-Star game, the trophy will appear.

  • Get your player's overall rating to 65 in My Player Mode.

    See "The Truth".

  • Get your player's overall rating to 85 in My Player Mode.

As your progress through your career you will earn skill points in base running, batting, and fielding. Every game you play you will earn skill points based on goals you need to accomplish during the game such as not striking out. You earn more skill points for games you play then games you sim.

Also, during the season you will have opportunities to do drills, if you get gold on drills you will gain skill points. Add your skill points to your player to increase your overall rating. Once you hit 65, The Start trophy will appear and when you hit 85, The Truth trophy will appear.

  • Make the Hall of Fame in My Player Mode.

To make the Hall of Fame you need to accomplish 2 or more team goals, 5 or more season goals, and 5 or more career goals. Once you have accomplished a certain amount of goals you can retire. You can retire by going to career decisions and select retire. When you retire, you will enter the Hall of Fame and then the trophy will appear.

  • Play and win opening day in Franchise Mode.

Play the first game of your franchise in the regular season and win. If you lose hit and re-load the game and try again.

  • Win a World Series in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

Before selecting a team to play with in Franchise mode, I suggest you modify a team where all 9 batters and your 5 starting pitchers have max stats. With Max stats, you will be able to easily play 20 games (you can do 3 inning games or 9 inning games) and then sim the season. With a team of max stars you should easily win your division make play-offs thus getting Booked a Ticket.

Make multiple saves when you start the post-season in franchise mode, in case you sim and lose. If you played 20 games already, then you can sim all of the post season. When the post season is over you will have Booked a Ticket and What's Your Ring Size pop.

  • Break a record in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

Clear all records at the beginning of the season. You can do this by going to the records screen in your franchise before you play/sim any spring training games and hit to clear all records. After you play 20 games, you will have earned all new records and the trophy.

  • Clinch a Postseason Berth in Franchise Mode. (play at least 20 games)

    See "What's Your Ring Size?".

  • Play a game of MLB Today.

After you have logged into the 2K network, the game will download and save all the games that will played on that day in the MLB. From the main screen select MLB today and play one game all the way through and the trophy is yours. You do not have to win the game.

  • Play the All-Star game in MLB Today.

On July 14, 2010 play the MLB All-Star game in MLB today.THIS IS A MUST PLAY AS IT IS ONLY AVAILABLE FOR ONE DAY. The MLB Today games come from the 2K server so you need to be connected to the 2K server to download the MLB All-Star game on July 14, 2010. From the main screen select MLB today and play the MLB All-Star game all the way through and the trophy is yours. You do not have to win the game.

  • Get to the top of the Best of the Best ladder in Home Run Derby Mode.

You will facing off against the top 20 home run hitters of 2009. You will want to edit a player to have max abilities in contact, eye, and power to 99. Now use the player you edited to face off against the top 20 home-run hitters of 2009.

To make things easier, you can edit the top home-run hitters to have least amount of abilities in contact, eye, and power along with making them born in 1960 and 5'0." The problem is even though you edit the top home-run hitters, when you reach the top 5 of 2009 they still can hit 10 home-runs in a round and you begin to drop off and struggle to hit home-runs even though your player is maxed out. The great thing is the game does save so you can come back where you left off last time and it gives you an opportunity to have a re-match.

Here is the list of hitters in order:

    David Ortiz (Boston Red Sox)

    Alex Rodriguez (New York Yankees)

    Andre Either (Los Angeles Dodgers)

    Chase Utley (Philadelphia Phillies)

    Ryan Braun (Milwaukee Brewers)

    Evan Longoria (Tampa Bay Rays)

    Ryan Zimmerman (Washington Nationals)

    Miguel Cabrera (Detroit Tigers)

    Derek Lee (Chicago Cubs)

    Adam Lind (Toronto Blue Jays)

    Jayson Werth (Philadelphia Phillies)

    Jason Bay (New York Mets)

    Adam Dunn (Washington Nationals)

    Carlos Pena (Tampa Bay Rays)

    Mark Teixeria (New York Yankees)

    Adrian Gonzales (San Diego Padres)

    Mark Reynolds (Arizona Diamondbacks)

    Ryan Howard (Philadelphia Phillies)

    Prince Fielder (Milwaukee Brewers)

    Albert Puljos (St. Louis Cardinals)

  • Complete and win an online league game.

Join or create an online league. You need at least 4 people to participate in an online league. Win one completed online league game and the trophy will appear at the end of the game.

  • Beat the New York Yankees in a completed online match.

In an online game, play against the New York Yankees in a completed 9-inning game and beat the Yankees. If you find your having a hard time beating the Yankees, then use the boosting thread to find someone to boost with that will play as the Yankees and let you win.

  • Complete and win a ranked match.

You can get this when going for The Team to Beat or any time you win a completed online game.

  • Complete and win 3 ranked matches in a row.

Win three completed online games in a row. You can do this honestly or use a boosting buddy form the boosting thread.

  • Complete 10 online matches using 10 different teams.

Use 10 different teams in 10 completed online games. You do not have to win the games, just make sure you play 10 games with 10 different teams. Make sure one of those teams is the Washington Nationals to get Upset Alert.

  • Strikeout 200 batters with your profile.

    See "Production".

  • Drive in 250 RBI with your profile.

Make sure you have a user profile and play online games, play now games, or franchise games with your user profile active. It will auto save after all games and any time you drive in a run with a batter or strikeout a batter this will be counted on your profile.

  • Choose a signature batting stance or pitching delivery in My Player or Create Player.

When creating your My Player, choose the MLB batting stance of a pro such as Ken Griffey Jr. to unlock this trophy. Custom Stances do not count towards this trophy.

  • Achieve gold in all the drills.

Drill are located under game modes. There are nine drills in all. If you get gold any drills you do with your My Player in My Player mode than those gold will carry over as they are saved to your profile. There are seven drills to use with a batter and two with a pitcher. For all drills, your best bet is edit a player to have max abilities in either hitting, pitching, base-running or fielding based on the drill. Most drills will require some practice to master the basics of the drill to eventually get gold in all drills.

For Control and Velocity: (the most tricky drill)

Use Pat Neshek of the Minnesota Twins. Neshek, has a greater area for a target then others (ie: two yellow squares to throw/locate your pitch). Edit Neshek to only have two pitches: the fastball and the cut fastball. Increase his control to 99 and lower his movement to 25. Now when you find the location of your pitch, use only 1/4 of power to release your pitch (ie: do not go max on your pitch as you need a really weak pitch to hit your target/location perfectly). Eventually you will get all six targets for gold.

  • Unlock 20 pitcher cards.

    See "Swingers".

  • Unlock 25 hitter cards.

When playing a game either online, in franchise, or a play now game, you can obtain trading cards by accomplishing certain goals, such as getting two hits with a player or against certain players such as getting 6 earned runs off a pitcher. Check you trading card collection in Features off the main screen. You can browse through your trading cards, both locked and unlocked. Hit on a card to see what you need to accomplish to unlock the card.
