Introduction:

Loadout is a Free-to-Play game that was released in December 2014 on the PS4, after a PC release earlier that year. The game is a third person shooter mainly based around PvP, which a large focus on gun customisation and leveling. All gameplay affecting items can be earned/purchased/leveled using the in game currency (which you gets far more than necessary), paid currency is used in place of this if you want or to buy cosmetics (not necessary for trophies).

The trophy list is fairly typical Free-to-Play fare, where you have to play the game for 100 hours total, which is far longer than is required to earn anything else and just an arbitrary requirement for a trophy. Thankfully, the game is very easy to idle and there are some very beneficial glitches that make the other parts of it easier.

The game as a whole is pretty dead and the devs have stated they barely make enough money off it to keep the servers running. There is no worry of being banned from the game at this point for boosting/idling like would have back right when it came out. You will normally find a few PvP matches up at a time (with spaces being filled out with bots) and a handful of people trying to do the Proving Ground missions.

Walkthrough:

This walkthrough is written from the perspective of playing the game in it's current state, idling the online time and giving yourself the easiest time possible in the PvE. If you for whatever reason don’t want to idle the game then your only real difference step wise is just actively playing the online.

Step 1: Idling Level 20 + Crafting Weapons for PvE Use

Your first step will just to be to start playing the game normally for about 2 hours. The game will lead you through a small tutorial where it goes over gameplay and weapon crafting, then let you do whatever. At this point you should play the game right before a time period where you're able to leave it idle so you can make use of the in game glitch to level quickly (detailed under Level 20 ).

In this step you will earn:

Level 5
Level 10
Level 15
Level 20
Mass Murder
This is my rifle...
Certificate of Participation

Step 2: Proving Ground Matches and more leveling

Next step once you hit level 20 and have started upgrading your weapons will be to work on the Proving Ground missions. You can do early ones with basically whatever weapons but it's easier the better weapons you have so it would be wise to keep working on idling for more parts as you can, especially for the ones in the last couple sets.

In this step you will earn:

Broken In
Call to Action
Intermission
Semi-Pro
Crate Expectations

Step 3: Finish Idling 100 hours

Once you have finished 50 Proving Ground matches, all you will have is idling out the rest of the time for Seasoned Vet (if you hadn't already done so).

In this step you will earn:

Seasoned Vet

This trophy is awarded once you reach player level 10.

This trophy is awarded once you reach player level 15.

    See Level 20

  • Reach Level 20.

This trophy is awarded once you reach player level 20, which is the max level in the game and requires 5,250,000 XP total. This would normally take quite a long time to get to but there is a very beneficial glitch in the game that make this take only about 5~ hours.

For whatever reason, when you stay in the same PvP lobby in game you will be awarded the total XP and Blutes (in game currency) you had the previous game plus the new total from the current game. For example, game 1 you earn 10 xp, game 2 you earn 10 xp + 10 xp from the previous game, game 3 you earn 10 xp + 20 xp total from the previous game etc. You can see where this would be going where your amount of earned XP and Blutes compounds greatly over time so you get a very large amount and level very quickly. This is why it's recommended you start the PvP right before a time where you want to leave the game idle, as you will continually earn the prior XP and Blutes until you stop idling or the game errors and boots you from the lobby.

Doing this method you should earn all level trophies in approximately 5 hours of idling from when you start if you stay in the same lobby the whole time. This and all other Level trophies will pop in game once you hit the required XP total.

See Seasoned Vet for more information on idling.

  • Get 50 kills against players.

This trophy is awarded for killing a total of 50 players in PvP matches. This can includes bots as well that may be placed in matches so starting out unless you get in a lobby of all Level 20 people who for some strange reason only play Loadout you should be able to earn this easily in an hour or two of gameplay. If you're struggling for kills you can try picking up weapons from other people, as they will normally have more leveled ones. You can also very easy just snipe kills from other people who are shooting enemies, so watch for enemies being shot by people on your team and kill them when their health is low.

  • Play in matches for 10 hours.

This trophy is awarded once you have accumulated a total of 10 hours of in-game time.

    See Season Vet.

  • Play in matches for 100 hours.

This trophy is awarded once you have accumulated a total of 100 hours of in-game time. You can somewhat track this total by adding up all your times for each mode as shown in the second stats tab in the locker, though this isn't super accurate as it seems to only count 60% of the actual time. Both I and another person I've spoken to earned the trophy when we had between 60-70 hours total time shown in the locker so you can use that to judge approximately where you're at. This does also count time spent in Proving Ground matches, though you can't see the time played for those.

This game is actually very easy to idle to an extent, you don’t even need a turbo controller to do it because of how the game is set up. As long as you have your two analogue sticks rubberbanded together and your controller doesn’t turn off (plug it in) you will continually spawn in after death and when new matches start. The only issue the game has is a glitch where if your inventory fill from after match item drops there is a very high chance you will get booted to the main menu or will get a system error message post match that disconnects you. Once this happens you will want to clean out your inventory (discard chests/crates, Fusion weapon parts together into your current ones) so that there is nothing in it except your currently equipped items. Once you do that you can resume idling. You have 360 total slots in your inventory and you can go over that total so assuming you don't have issues and get booted early, this will normally allow you to idle about 8 hours uninterrupted. Just make sure to check back when possible to make sure you're still idling.

  • Create your first gun.

This trophy is awarded when you save your first created weapon in the weapon crafting menu. You are basically prompted to do this when you start the game so will earn this without effort.

  • Complete a campaign mission.

This trophy is awarded once you complete your first campaign mission. You are prompted to do this during the tutorial right when you start the game so it's likely this will be your first earned trophy.

  • Complete 25 campaign missions.

This trophy is awarded for completing 25/55 unique campaign missions.

    See Intermission.

  • Complete 50 campaign missions.

This trophy is awarded for completing 50/55 unique campaign missions. This is really the only trophy in the game that requires effort as the later PvE missions can still be somewhat difficult and take upwards of 15 minutes each, depending on what mode you're playing. For the mission to be considered "complete" you have to complete the given objective as well as win the match you're in. The majority of them are fairly and don't require much effort outside of just trying to win the match so are easy to complete as long as you're aware of them. If you do require some assistance, then please post in the Boosting thread: LINK

There are a few key points to pay attention to while working on this trophy:

    Avoid playing with other people:

This is somewhat unavoidable at low levels, though in the first set of missions it doesn't matter much. Later on though, most of the remaining players are low level randoms who are trying to play levels way too high level for them and will massively drag you down if not outright lose matches for you. The bots that the game gives you are much more of a help than other real players are in basically all situations other than if you have someone else who's following the steps from this guide and playing with you at max level.

Try to get max weapons with a good setup:

This is part of why you want to work on idling before you start working on the PvE, as you can get yourself set up with max level weapons of whatever type you want before you even start working on this trophy. There's no super specific weapon setups that I’m aware of that's heads above the others but there are a few main things you can use to make it easier.

    • Have one Rifle type weapon with Pyro payload. Pyro still shoots like normal bullets and does extra damage, along with lighting enemies on fire.
    • Have the other be a Launcher type weapon with Flak dispersal for the shells. Flak gives a sizeable Area of Effect on shell detonation that does quite a bit of damage to enemies.

Other than those two points your weapon setup is mostly up to you based on how you want your guns to shoot. Just make sure to use Fusion and get everything to maximum level. I personally preferred to use X-Ray scope on the rifle to spot enemies through walls, then Scuttle propulsion on the launcher as it makes the shells move along the ground so can be shot a long distance.

Avoid playing modes other than Hold Your Poles or Alien Assault:

Like playing with other people, this isn't super important in the early stages but last two sets of missions you only want to do these two mission types for the easiest time overall. Most of the mission types because overly annoying later on and Protect Your Junk becomes basically impossible to finish so sticking with these two is best. Hold Your Poles has you defending a point from waves of lower level enemies and you get 3-5 possible points to defend if you happen to lose some so there is plenty of room for error. Alien Assault is basically the opposite, where you try to capture points held by waves of lowish level enemies. They spawn in waves so you can basically just kill everything around the pole then move in and sit on it to capture it, then move on to the next.

There isn't a way to decide what match type you play in Proving Grounds but you can get a new mode each time. When you select a mission the game tries to find a lobby in that level range. If there are none up it will start you in a new lobby by yourself with a random mode after 1:30 of waiting. If you don’t get a mode you want you can just back out of the lobby and search again.

  • Play 50 games in the Arena.

This trophy is awarded for finishing a total of 50 PvP matches. This will come without trying while working toward the 100 hours of playtime. For context, after getting all other trophies my stats show I have 646 arena matches played total.

  • Pick up 20 crates.

Crates are awarded post-match during PvP and the first time you finish specific Proving Ground matches, thus you don't actually have to "pick them up" in game. You will earn this before you even hit level 10 while playing PvP.
