Introduction

Welcome to La-Mulana Ex, a remake of an old Steam game of the same name. The game is a classic Metroidvania game. If you’ve played the older side-scrolling Castlevania titles, you’ll love this one! The game is really fun if you love exploring around, finding secrets, and not always knowing where to go and what to do. It also has a great soundtrack too!

Don’t let the game’s difficulty and number of missable trophies scare you. While the game may seem really tough the first time around, you’ll get used to the gameplay after a while and it will become second nature. There is only 1 optional area near the end of the game that is legitimately tough, and this is where the difficulty rating comes in. As far as the missable trophies go, most of them are fairly easy and are only missable due to 1-2 collectibles that you might miss if you don’t pay attention. There are 3 speedrun trophies, but only one for beating the game in 10 hours will require planning, the others will probably be unlocked without even trying. But there are 3 ending trophies that will require a lot of careful planning. Luckily there are a few 100% walkthrough guides out there, which are listed below.

The game will require at least 2 runs. One on Normal just going through the game and getting a few easy missable trophies, then 1 final run on Hard mode speedrunning the game and getting 100%. I have written the guide in a way so that you should be able to unlock every single trophy in these 2 runs.

My advice for playing the game is to play a first run on normal without using a walkthrough (although use the trophy guide for the missable trophies that you need to get), and just enjoy exploring and finding your way around. This will be tough and you’ll probably die a lot, but trust me it’s the best way to get used to the game. I also advise not going for 100% your first run, as a few ending trophies will be easier to track if you purposely don’t unlock a few trophies until Hard Mode.

If you get stuck use a walkthrough. Only use the 100% guide from start to finish once you are ready for the speedrun on Hard mode. Don’t bother using it for your first run, or else it will make it annoying to track some ending requirements later on.
Good luck and enjoy this amazing game!

NOTE: The PS4 version uses this same guide, but the Curry Addict trophy has been replaced with The Penitent Man instead.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Start the game, play up to just before the 5th guardian (Viy), and get one of the missable trophies.

Just play through the game normally, and kill the first 4 guardians. Get 1 of the easy missable trophies here. Also make sure that you DO NOT get the Fairy’s Vest item (It’s located in a locked chest in the Gate of Illusion which requires a key fairy and is tough to find anyways). This is important for a highly missable trophy in Step 4.

Trophies Unlocked: (Some others might pop here depending on how much you explore, but these ones will unlock for sure)

Step 2: Get the Hidden Road trophy, another missable trophy, and kill the remaining 4 guardians.

Make sure you get The Hidden Road BEFORE fighting Viy or you lose your chance at the trophy. Then simply defeat the remaining 4 guardians. Keep an eye out for the other missable trophy This Is La-Mulana: Part III as well during the latter part of the game.

Trophies Unlocked:

The Penitent Man (PS4 Exclusive)

Step 3: Complete the game and clean up a couple miscellaneous trophies.

Simply defeat the final boss and complete the game. But do not attempt to start/beat the optional area Hell Temple or you will get locked out of the Curry Addict trophy. Reload your save before the final boss and get a few miscellaneous trophies if you didn’t unlock them earlier. The rest will come naturally in hard mode.

Step 4: Start and Complete Hell Temple

Only start this step AFTER getting Curry Addict or else you will need to do another run of the game. Also make sure you did not find the Fairy’s Vest item (listed in Step 1), otherwise you’ll need to replay the entire game to get back to this point. This is the hardest area of the game, and you need to complete the entire thing up to and including the hidden boss fight at the very end for a few trophies.

Trophies Unlocked:
This Is La-Mulana: Part IV

This Was Not For Human Eyes
This isn’t even my final form! *Missable*

Step 5: Start a new game, play on Hard Mode going for a 100% run under 10 hours, and without using any subweapons against the bosses. Make an extra save immediately after completing Hell Temple before doing anything else! Then fight the final boss and complete the first ending.

This is the hardest step of getting the . You will want to use the walkthrough for this run, since you will need to get every single item and collectible along the way. You also cannot use any subweapons (Don’t use ) against any bosses, otherwise you’ll have to do another run on Hard mode for 2 more trophies.

Also make a few extra save files in case you mess up! At the very least, I recommend one before activating Hard Mode, another before killing Tiamat, and another before starting Hell Temple.

Finally, MAKE AN EXTRA SAVE AFTER BEATING HELL TEMPLE. There are 2 ending trophies which don’t stack, and if you forget to make an extra save, you could risk doing another full 100% run on Hard!

55 trophies ( 46  12  )

  • You've found everything there is to know about these ruins.

As with all trophies, this will unlock after obtaining all the other trophies.

  • Opened the entrance to La-Mulana.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This will be the first trophy you unlock. After starting the game, make your way to the right and up a screen. Place a weight on the switch to drop into the ruins. Head right another screen to the entrance and the trophy will pop.

  • Received damnation.

This is another easy trophy that you will unlock without even trying. In some rooms you will see an eyeball at the top that looks like the one in the trophy image. If you use any weapon on some objects in the room, you’ll be struck by lightning and take massive damage, as well as unlock the trophy.

If by some weird reason you managed to get through the entire game without ever getting hit (which is nearly impossible), you can always head to the Temple of Moonlight, and use any weapon in any of the blue coloured rooms to be instantly damaged and get the trophy.

  • Obliterated Amphisbaena.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Amphisbaena is the 1st guardian of the game, and he is located in the Gate of Guidance.

He is a 2-headed snake with a head on each side. He attacks by breathing fire from both heads, alternating at faster speeds the closer he is to death.

To beat him, just simply use any weapon on any head until he dies. Shurikens work well against him since you can just stay on the platforms at the top and spam them nonstop.

If you are going for the no subweapon trophy, wait until you get the Axe main weapon before fighting him. It will take him down fairly quickly.

  • In the top middle room of Masoleum of the Giants (Room D1 on the maps), there is a tablet you can read in the top right corner. Reading it once will give you this trophy, reading it a 2nd time will activate Hard Mode and give you Dear Foolish Adventurer.

  • Activated HARD MODE.

See Once You Read It, You Can Never Go Back.

A small note is that Hard Mode is activated when you read the tablet, so you can actually play through a decent portion of the game on Normal mode and get a few collectibles while the game is easier. Then turn on Hard Mode right before fighting the bosses to make things a bit easier early on!

The only differences with Hard Mode are that there are harder enemies and more enemies early on, plus bosses have more health and do more damage.

  • Obliterated Sakit.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Sakit is the 2nd guardian of the game, located in the Masoleum of the Giants, and is one of the harder boss fights in my opinion.

He starts on the left side of the screen and advances towards the right side. He will occasionally fire a fast moving energy ball that can be jumped over, or he will fire his fist at you, which will get stuck and cause debris to fall. This is when you attack him.

When his fist gets stuck, walk along the chain attached to it and hit him in the face a few times then jump back to the right so you don’t take damage. Repeat a few times (usually around 10-12 hits) and his mask falls off, revealing his actual weak point.

This next phase is really tough because he attacks constantly. If you bought the Pistol subweapon earlier, fire 2 shots into his face to kill him instantly!

If you are going for no subweapons, the best thing to do is equip the Axe and just keep jumping at his face and attacking, and hopefully he dies before you do! I find it’s best to wait until you have the double jump before fighting him so you don’t have to wait for his fist attack to reach him.

  • Mulbruk has been awakened.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

After beating any guardian, head to the Temple of the Sun, 2 rooms below the save point (C3), and a door will open. Inside is Mulbruk, simply talk to her then leave and the trophy is yours! You will need the Origin Seal item to be able to talk to her.

  • Obliterated Ellmac.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Ellmac is the 3rd guardian of the game, located at the bottom of the Temple of the Sun.

At the start of the fight, he will come crashing down in the middle of the screen, causing an insane amount of damage! Make sure you move as far right as possible to avoid being killed. For the rest of the fight, you will be moving along a mine cart path that raises and dips every so often.

Ellmac only has 2 attacks; He will fire 3 energy balls at you that can be avoided by jumping, and he will dash forward at you. The dash is annoying because it’s hard to tell when he will use it, and it’s pretty fast so you’re likely to get hit by it regardless. He increases the speed of his attacks the closer he is to death so keep that in mind too.

To beat him, you need to just keep attacking his face until he dies. When the mine cart path raises up, use this as a good time to hit him in the face. If you’re worried about taking damage, you can hug the right side of the screen and throw Shurikens/Pistol shots at him to minimize the chances of taking damage. Luckily he has fairly low health so the fight won’t be too long.

If you are going for no subweapons, just keep jumping and spamming the Axe until he’s dead, and if you’re lucky you won’t die, but still be careful dodging his attacks as best you can.

  • Got a fairy to cooperate with you.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

In the top left room of the Endless Corridor (room A1 on map), there is a room with the Fairy Queen that won’t help you until you find the item Isis Pendant.

This item is located in the Temple of the Sun, in the room at the top left area of the map (room A1). This room is hidden, and to access it, you must fight the mid-boss first in the room below (A2). Once the mid-boss is defeated (wait until you have the Axe), simply attack the ceiling above the trapezoid shaped platform with the Axe until it breaks, then climb up to grab the item.

Warp back to the Endless Corridor and talk to the Fairy Queen, this unlocks fairies for use and unlocks the trophy as well.

Here are the types of Fairies you can get:

    • Regular – Spawns the most frequently and are pink in colour. These ones heal you every few seconds until they de-spawn. The spawn effect shows a pattern of 2 stars going clockwise if you get one.
    • Item – Has around a 15% chance of spawning, and is green in colour. These ones make enemies give you more money when they get killed, and chests/breakable pots give you more money as well. Good for farming coins for buying stuff! The spawn effect has 4 stars; 2 spinning counterclockwise and 2 clockwise in a circle pattern.
    • Weapon – Has about a 20% chance of spawning and is blue in colour. These fairies attack enemies with whatever subweapon you have equipped at the moment (excluding Pistol and Shields), and does not cost ammo. Good against some bosses if you don’t want to waste ammo. The spawn effect shows 2 stars going counterclockwise in a square pattern.
    • Key – The hardest to obtain with an approximately 5% spawn rate but useful for a few secrets, and is yellow in colour. This fairy will unlock special chests to cannot be unlocked through normal means, as well as highlight secrets in each area to give you a clue on what to do next. The spawn effect is 4 stars going counterclockwise in a square pattern.
  • Obliterated Bahamut.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Bahamut is the 4th guardian of the game, located at the top of the Spring in the Sky.

He has 3 main attacks. His main attack is he jumps out of the water and fires a bunch of blue water bubbles at you, just stay underneath him to dodge them. He also will go into the background and constantly try to jump out of the water and land on you. It’s possible to land a hit here if you’re good at timing it, but he will most likely hit you as well. His final attack is he goes into the background and launches a barrage of mines in the water everywhere around you. Just keep jumping to avoid them.

To attack him, wait until he does his main attack. When he launches out of the water, you’ll fly up in the air, so use this to hit him a few times in the face to damage him. You can also use the Flare Gun to damage him if he’s out of reach. If you managed to get a weapon fairy on the way to reaching the boss, having it use the flare gun against the boss works wonders!

If you’re doing no subweapons, don’t fight this boss until you have the double jump. Then you can jump up and hit him without timing your jump with him launching out. The axe usually can take him out in under 15 hits.

  • Obtained the Feather.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

The Wing item is actually a Feather, but the trophy labels it incorrectly. This item gives you the ability to double jump.

In order to get this item, you first need to get the item called the Serpent Staff. This is located at the bottom of the Temple of Moonlight (D6), and you get it from beating the Anubis sub-boss.

However, this boss cannot be harmed the first time you fight him, so you have to warp to Temple of the Sun and talk to Mulbruk until she gives you an item called Book of the Dead. Now head back to the Anubis and beat him for the staff.

Once you have the staff, head to the left-most area of the Surface (B2), and make sure you have the staff equipped in the item slot, then beat the sub-boss Argus by hitting him a few times with any weapon (usually around 6 hits with the axe). Once he’s dead, head left 1 more screen and open the chest for the item and trophy.

  • Obtained the Future Development Company app.

Another easy trophy that you will probably get naturally. This software is listed in the menu as mirai.exe and it gives you the ability to warp to any grail tablet in the backside areas, making it very useful.

You will find it in the Graveyard of the Giants, in the bottom left room of the map (B5). There is a switch hidden inside an ice block, which you can jump into from the left side (requires double jump). Once it’s pressed, the chest below will open, giving you the software and the trophy.

  • Obliterated Viy.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Viy is the 5th guardian of the game, and is also a pretty tough boss fight. He’s a giant eyeball creature that requires 2 minions to open his eye so he can attack you. In order to start the fight you first must destroy the 4 tentacles on the sides of the arena.

He has 2 main attacks and usually alternates between them. His first attack is the eyeball launches in the air and some fire sprays out, then waits in the air for a few seconds which gives you time to attack it. The second attack is a massive eye laser that normally fires straight up, but eventually curves side to side as the fight goes on. It does massive damage so make sure to avoid it. The floor also scrolls too, Viy moves upwards slowly so you have to keep moving up in order to avoid damage. Standing on Viy’s body drains your health extremely quick and should be avoided at all costs.

The easiest way to beat Viy is to wait until his first attack to launch the eye in the air, then use the Pistol and fire 4-5 shots at him to kill him instantly. You can also use Rolling Shurikens when he’s firing the laser.

If you are not using subweapons, it’s a much harder fight. The way I would kill Viy is first by inflicting as much damage as possible when the eye is stationary up top. Then when he powers up the eye laser, I would jump onto his body and spam the Axe as much as possible. Depending on your health upgrades, you can usually kill him before your health drains to 0 and before the eye laser ends (I finished it with 2 health left on my Hard run). Or you can take it slow and only attack him only up top. It’s a really tough fight regardless.

  • Uncovered Eden.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

You will need to find an item called the Fruit of Eden in order to get this trophy.

In the Temple of Moonlight, there is a room with 4 small treasure chests followed by 1 large chest (C2). You need to find 4 runes (random spots in the background) around the map and activate them with while having the Hand Scanner equipped.

    The locations are as follows:

    • Rune 1: There is a face at the top middle of the room in the left corner (A1).
    • Rune 2: In the elevator shaft above the room with the door leading back to Temple of the Sun (C4). There’s a set of 4 hands under a window, in the center is the rune.
    • Rune 3: In the room 1 screen down from the door leading to Temple of the Sun, (C6) there is a switch that you can press. Don’t press it because it’s a trap, but right behind the switch is the next rune (It looks like a dark image on a pillar).
    • Rune 4: Go 2 screens right of where Rune 2 is (E4). In the bottom left corner of this area, there is a pillar with an image of a person on it. This is the rune.

Once the 4 runes are activated, head back to the room with the 5 chests (C2). You will see 4 switches that you can now activate. Activate them in this order: Top Left, Top Right, Bottom, Middle. The chest will open and you get the Fruit of Eden.

Now head to the exit in the top left (B1), and you will be in Eden. Since you have the item you need, a switch will appear in the top right corner of this room. Press it to unlock the trophy.

  • Took a knee.

This trophy is exclusive to the PS4 version of the game.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This will pop as you're exploring the Gate of Illusion, you'll come to a maze area involving teleporting between areas. At one point, you'll have to break a pot and hold to drop a ledge. When you do so, the trophy will pop!

  • Proved that you are indeed small.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

In order to get this trophy, you will first need to obtain an item called the Mini-Doll. To get it, you first need to traverse through the Gate of Illusion up until you get to the Grail Tablet (C3).

Once you reach the Grail Tablet, head right 1 screen on the lower of the 2 paths (D3), and read the tablet in front of you (You’ll also see the path ahead blocked by a wall with an image of a small person on it, getting the trophy will open this area).

Now you’ll need to backtrack to an earlier room that you went through as part of the teleport maze, the room 1 screen down from where you obtained the Pepper item as well as the Anchor (F5). A door will be opened here and a man inside will give you the Mini-Doll.

Now warp to the Masoleum of the Giants and head 1 screen left (D3). Equip and use the Mini-Doll with here to get the trophy.

  • Dived into a pot.

This trophy is easy but has a few steps.

First, you need access to the Tower of the Goddess. From the main entrance leading to the Surface, head up, then right, then up again. You’ll be in a room with a tablet on the right side (C7).

Read this tablet and a switch will appear below you, press it. This open the floodgates in Spring in the Sky.

Now all you need to do is head to the Masoleum of the Giants, and head to the room 1 screen right of the boss room (D5). There is a pot here, simply stand on it and press , which will warp you to the spring and unlock the trophy.

  • Challenged the balance of the spirits.

First you need the Ocarina. See The Four Philosophers Were Awakened for details. Then, you’ll need to find the Philosopher in the Tower of the Goddess.

Teleport to the Grail Tablet here, then fall off the tower all the way to the bottom (D5). There’s a hidden switch under the debris in the corner. Place a weight there, which will open the door to the Philosopher 1 screen over to the left.

Talk to him and after leaving the room a ladder will appear in the top left corner. Climb the ladder and the trophy should pop in this room. Note that if you mess up the puzzle here, it permanently locks you out of an item, so make sure you save before going here on a 100% run to avoid having to restart.

  • Opened the backdoor to the Tower of the Goddess.

    *Missable*

You can only get this trophy before beating Viy (the boss of Inferno Cavern), once you’ve beaten him the trophy cannot be unlocked.

To obtain this trophy, you first need access to the Gate of Time as well as the double jump. See The World Of 8-Bit and Seek a Higher Place respectively.

Once you’ve accessed the Gate of Time, make your way up 1 screen, and then right 3 more screens (G10). In the bottom right corner of the screen, attack the floor with either the Knife or Axe, and a stairway will open up, leading to a secret entrance to the Tower of the Goddess (A2).

This room is the top-leftmost room of the tower. From here, you need to make your way down 3 screens, right 1 screen, and down 4 more screens to the lowest area. Not to mention it’s entirely pitch black with no way to see lighting, and there are countless enemies that will attack you nonstop, making this very annoying for many people.

Once you get to the bottom of the area (B9), the lights will turn on, and you’ll unlock the trophy!

An alternate route is that there is a hidden wall you can break in the top right corner of (A3), which will lead you to (B8), one room above the bottom. This route does not require the double jump, but it’s fairly hard to pull off because of the pipe you must stand on to reach it. Regardless of whichever way you do it, you’ll get the trophy at the end!

  • Obliterated Palenque.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Palenque is the 6th guardian, located in the Chamber of Birth.
He is also very easy to beat, but before you start the fight, you must have the Pochette Key equipped to start the plane with , or else you can’t fight the boss.

The entire boss fight is like a bullet hell shooter, you will be constantly flying to the right while he attacks you with a barrage of missiles and lasers.

The fastest way to kill him is to just take out the Pistol and shoot him in the face about 4-5 times.

Once he’s dead, he’ll try to do a suicide attack where he jumps towards you to blow you up, simply hit him with any weapon to knock him down to win the fight.

If you are not using subweapons, simply equip the Axe, then head underneath him and just hit him nonstop. Only his missiles can possibly hurt you underneath but they are easy to dodge anyways.

  • Obtained La-Mulana.

First you need to access the Gate of Time, see The World Of 8-BIT for how to get there.

Once you’ve found the entrance, you’ll need to make your way all the way to the very top-left of the area (requires double jump), which is an 8-bit version of the starting location for the game with Xelpud’s tent open (A1). Talk to Xelpud in his tent, and he’ll tell you about the hidden software.

Now simply head 1 screen right, climb the ladder about a third up, and start attacking the wall to the left with the whip. It will break and the software is here, grab it to get the trophy.

  • Learned ancient La-Mulana words.

There are tablets throughout the world that you won’t be able to read at all. This trophy is unlocked for finding 3 specific tablets that allow you to translate those tablets into English.

    The locations are as follows:

    • Tower of Ruin (C4)
    • Chamber of Birth (D1)
    • Shrine of the Mother (F3)

You’ll probably unlock this through natural gameplay if you aren’t using a guide, as some of the puzzles would be impossible to figure out without being able to read those tablets.

  • Obliterated Baphomet.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Baphomet is the 7th guardian, located in the Twin Labyrinths.

She has 2 phases to the fight and the fight is really dependant on how lucky you can get with her teleporting around the place. It might be super easy or extremely difficult.

In the first phase she is stationary in the middle, and can unleash 3 different attacks. She will summon lightning that strikes vertically everywhere, tough to avoid due to the randomness. She also throws a set of white energy balls in every direction, easily avoided by moving outwards and moving in between the shots. She also fires more the less health she has. Finally she summons fire, which comes from below. Luckily it’s very easy to see where they will come up so they are pretty easy to avoid.

To damage her, you need to double jump and hit her in the head as much as possible. You need to be pretty close to her as well so it can be dangerous if you get hit, as contacting her does high damage.

In the second phase she will stand up and teleport around the place. She also summons smaller witch enemies to attack you as well. She has the same attacks as before, but slightly changed. The lightning attack now goes outward from her body, you can tell she’s going to use it when she charges up a blue ball at her chest. I find staying in the bottom left or bottom right will keep you safe most of the time. The fire is the same as before, but the location of the fire is harder to spot than the first phase. Instead of firing a set of white energy balls, she will now fire a set of 5 blue balls that move really slow but now home in on you. They can be blocked with a shield or destroyed with a weapon.

To beat her in this phase, you can only attack her when she’s on the lower half of the screen, still by double jumping and hitting her face. It’s possible to sometimes get a single hit in whenever she’s in the top corners. You can use the flare gun on her when she’s up high, as well as fire the pistol into her head when she’s lower for a quicker finish.
At the end of the fight, she will walk around and fire will come up from the ground nonstop as a last ditch attempt to kill you. To avoid it, simply stand on the opposite side of the screen as far to the edge as possible and you won’t take a hit.

If you are not using subweapons, the second phase will probably be very annoying. You can still use a shield and it will block the energy balls, but depending on your luck with her teleporting, it could be really easy or really hard. My first run was extremely easy, but my hard mode run took me quite a few tries to beat due to the randomness.

  • Opened the entrance to The Gate of Time.

First, you’ll need to have made it to the Chamber of Extinction and preferably the Grail Tablet (F5). You’ll also need to have fairy points unlocked (See Lights Of The Fairies).

Now head to the fairy point in this area (I5), it’s 3 screens right of the Grail Tablet (Or you can go up 1 screen, left 1 screen, and down 1 screen, either path will take you there).

You will need to get a key fairy to spawn and it’s about a 5% chance of getting one to spawn. You can keep exiting/re-entering the screen before the fairy spawns in and it will reset the spawn. You can tell you’re about to get a key fairy if you see 4 stars rotating counter-clockwise in a diamond shape, so if you see those, let the fairy spawn!

Once the fairy spawns, walk 2 screens to the left (G5), and the fairy will move towards the middle of the screen and open a hidden door under the light. Simply enter this door to access the Gate of Time and unlock the trophy.

  • Obtained the Ocarina of The Philosophers.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

You need to get the item Ocarina of the Philosophers and the trophy will pop. It has a few steps. First you need to find the Woman Statue.

You’ll need to get to the Chamber of Birth via the Graveyard of the Giants. From the entrance here, just follow the fairly linear path all the way to a supposed dead end with a statue slightly knocked over. Grapple onto this statue and it will fall, opening up a secret room (I4). Solve the trap here by placing a weight on the rightmost skeleton, and open the chest for the first item. Teleport to the Temple of the Sun.

Head inside the pyramid to the very center, where you’ll see floating lights everywhere (E4). Equip the Woman Statue and stand still for around a minute, and the statue will turn into the Maternity Statue. Next, head up 1 screen and through the warp leading to Temple of Moonlight.

In the temple, head up 1 screen where the chest is, and you’ll see a statue icon in the top right corner. Head up there and use the statue with , which will reveal a ladder. Follow the path back to the chest, then pause the game until Lemeza falls asleep, about 5-10 seconds. Unpause and the chest will open, giving you the Ocarina and the trophy.

  • Obtained Beo La-Mulana.

To get this item, you first need to buy a software called torude.exe, located in the Tower of Ruin shop. Once you have this item head to the Dimensional Corridor (B3), this is the room to the left of the boss room.

Equip the software by opening your laptop with , then switch to the software page an equip it. Then use the scan feature by switching to that page of the laptop, and it will unlock the new software and give you the trophy.

  • Obliterated Tiamat.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Tiamat is the 8th guardian and usually the final guardian you’ll defeat, located in the Dimensional Corridor.

She has a ton of health, but most of her attacks aren’t too hard to avoid. She has 3 phases to the fight, and 4 attacks that she constantly uses. Her first phase starts with just 2 attacks, and each phase after adds 1 new attack.

Her first attack is some lasers that fire randomly from the circles in her hair. They go all over the place so just do your best to avoid them, but do very little damage regardless. Her second attack is her flying into the background and unleashing a flood of water to crush you. Just stand underneath any platform and the flood won’t hurt you. It does pretty high damage so make sure you avoid this easy-to-dodge attack!

After the first phase, she adds a new attack where she fires lasers in every direction from her cleavage (I’m not making that up, she actually does). They can be tough to avoid but if you equip a shield you should be ok for the most part.

Her final phase adds a really powerful set of beams that can decimate you if they hit! Her circles will glow around her head and unleash a set of beams that rotate around the entire area. It’s very hard to avoid it, but you can use an exploit by throwing Caltrops on the ground and running into them yourself before the beams hit. The invincibility frames will void her attack and you’ll take very minimal damage!

To beat her, just stand underneath her and keep double jumping and hitting her in the face with the axe. You can also use the flare gun too if you’d like. It will take quite a while to beat her, but she’s not that tough compared to some of the earlier bosses.

If you are going for no subweapons, the fight is basically still the same as if you were using them. The only difference is that you won’t be able to exploit the caltrops during the final phase so you’ll have to either take the hit from the beams or hope to dodge them. The final phase is really dependant on how fast you can kill her before she unleashes the beams again.

  • Obliterated all guardians.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

You’ll get this after killing the 8th guardian (Usually Tiamat in the Dimensional Corridor).

  • Completed the adventure.

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Once you beat the final boss, you’ll have an escape sequence where you need to run to where Mulbruk is in Temple of the Sun. Once you reach her room there will be some dialogue, the credits, and the trophy.

Here are the different phases of the final boss and how to beat them:

    1. The statue will not move, but she will spit out fireballs in obvious patterns every few seconds. Simply equip a shield and jump and hit her with any weapon (whip works the fastest here).
    2. Now her spirit will be in the air, and flies from side to side, occasionally firing a vertical laser at you, or flying low to hit you. When she goes low, jump and throw a Chakram. In normal mode it’s a 1-hit attack!
If you aren’t using subweapons, just stay below her then double jump and hit her with the Axe when you get a chance. If she’s too close to the sides, she might hurt you if she does her low sweep attack, so stay in the center and jump over her if you can.
    3. Now she will float up and down in a sinusoidal pattern back and forth. She is also holding a baby doll that can fire lasers at you that are tough to dodge (luck based, sometimes it never uses it). The other attacks it uses are crying and dropping fire from her eyes (which has high splash damage), as well as a meteor shower of stars in the middle. This does massive damage so avoid at all costs! Electricity also flows constantly around the edges so you can’t hide in the corners this time.
To attack, double jump up and time your attacks when her head is lower so you can hit her, then make sure you avoid the lava tears that will come shortly after.
    4. Fairly tough phase if you aren’t using subweapons. She becomes a floating eyeball with 3 tentacles around it, and you’re swimming in water so you just have to swim away from her. 3-5 pistol shots will finish this phase instantly.
If you don’t use subweapons, this phase can be one of the hardest. Use the whip to remove the tentacles really fast then attack her as much as you can before she swims away. She’ll go offscreen and try to create new tentacles, just repeat the process until the phase is over.
    5. The final phase. She becomes the floating spirit again from the second phase, but much smaller. At first she just flies around like phase 2, but every few hits she will gain an attack that a previous boss used, and she will use a combination of 3 at a time (In the order that the bosses were meant to be fought). Since she only does 3 moves at a time, as she learns newer attacks she removes an older one until she cycles through all 8 boss attacks. When she’s very close to death, you’ll see a circular object appear at the top, so if you see that, you’ll know she’s almost dead! Her attacks also speed up as the fight goes on as well.

The attack types are as follows:
      • Amphisbaena: Breathes a stream of fire in front of her. Really easy to dodge, just get behind her and attack as fast as you can!
      • Sakit: She goes to the side of the screen fires a few blue energy balls across the screen, also easy to dodge. Jump and attack her when you’re able to, preferably from the back.
      • Ellmac: She’ll float at mid-height and fire 3 fireballs. 1 goes way in front of her, another at mid distance, and the last straight down. Get slightly behind her and attack her.
      • Bahamut: This attack replaces the Amphisbaena attack. She flies to the top corners of the screen and unleashes a flurry of blue rings at you. If you use subweapons, get below her and use the Flare Gun. Otherwise, just wait until the attack is done because normal weapons can’t reach.
      • Viy: This replaces the Sakit attack. She will fly low to the bottom corners, then fire a giant laser across the bottom. Don’t jump and you won’t take damage. Get behind her and you can deal a ton of damage to her! This attack is used until the end of the fight, but later on she will fire it diagonally from a top corner, and the only safe spot is right below her.
      • Palenque: This replaces the Ellmac attack. She will fly in the middle of the screen and unleash a hail of bullets downwards. There’s a lot of them, but they are really easy to dodge, usually just by staying directly below her. In the later part of the fight, this is really the only good time to attack her. You can use the pistol from afar, or is not using subweapons just attack her with the Axe while she’s using the attack.
      • Bahomet: This replaces the Bahamut attack. You won’t be able to hit her while she uses this attack. She will float to the top and make a summon spell, which constantly summons vertical totems of blue lasers all around the screen. This attack is mainly used to get you to keep moving, but this is where things get hectic, as you’ll have to dodge lasers while trying to hit her as well.
      • Tiamat: The final new attack she learns. It’s the cleavage laser from Tiamat’s fight. She unleashes purple lasers in every direction, and they do a lot of damage. This attack is tough to dodge, even with a shield out. Just keep attacking her and she’ll go down eventually! The pistol is a good choice for this final phase since it takes her out very fast at this point!
  • Completed the entire adventure within 10 hours.

    *Missable*

Self explanatory. You most likely will not unlock this your first try. But since you need to do this for 100% and the ending trophies, you’ll get this on your Hard mode run. It is still very easy to beat 10 hours once you know where to go and what to do.

My first run was 18 hours without a guide, then I played another quick run just fooling around and did it in 8.5 hours. My Hard Mode 100% run was under 7 hours. It’s very doable once you know what to do!

  • Completed the entire adventure within 20 hours.

    *Missable*

Self explanatory. You might unlock this on your first run without even trying. I managed to beat the game in 18 hours my first time, and that was without a guide. If you don’t unlock this, you’ll get it for sure on the Hard mode 100% speedrun, since it’s requires to beat the game under 10 hours.

  • Completed the entire adventure within 40 hours.

    *Missable*

Self explanatory. You’ll unlock this without even trying. I managed to beat the game in 18 hours my first time, and that was without a guide. If you somehow don’t unlock this, you’ll get it for sure on the Hard mode 100% speedrun, since it’s requires to beat the game under 10 hours.

  • Obtained all Sacred Orbs.

    *Missable*

You get more health by finding items called Sacred Orbs. There are 10 to find and once you get them all the trophy will pop. Here are the locations (Use the maps to find the location easier):

    • Surface (L3) – Obtainable after beating Bahamut. On the rightmost wall, attack the upper portion of the wall with the whip and the wall will break, revealing the chest.
    • Gate of Guidance (D1) – Near impossible to miss. There’s a raised platform left of the chest, stand on it to open the chest.
    • Masoleum of the Giants (F4) – There is a hidden switch that you can press with a weight under the right statue, just press while standing at the feet.
    • Temple of the Sun (D4) – You have to kill both bats before leaving the screen, which opens the chest. Then just navigate the pyramid to get to the chest.
    • Spring in the Sky (A4) – Requires the Birth Seal. Activate the button on the left with the seal and it will lower a ladder leading to the chest.
    • Tower of Ruin (G5) – Really easy to find. Once you enter the area, you’ll see a switch down in the bottom right that occasionally gets blocked by a crusher. Press the switch when it’s safe and the chest will open.
    • Chamber of Extinction (C3) – Hard to see if the lights go off, but there is a raised platform hidden away in the top right corner, press it to open the chest.
    • Twin Labyrinths (C3) – After the Zu fight, in the next corridor you’ll see the chest below you. Above you is a fake wall that you can jump into and move right. On the very right is a switch that you can activate by pressing , which opens the chest.
    • Dimensional Corridor (C1) – Requires the Death Seal. Save the game before attempting to get it since it’s very tough to reach! In the boss room (C2), you’ll see a ladder in the top right corner. What you need to do is wait until the boss uses the attack that spawns a waterfall, then use that waterfall to jump up to the ledge (Easier if you use the Lamp of Time to freeze time). Once up above, it’s a bit tricky. The easiest way in my opinion is to use a single jump to fall straight down, then use the double jump to land on the small platform. From here, you can either jump up and hit the seal, or you can take the lower path and try to grapple to the platform instead. This is the hardest orb to get by far!
    • Shrine of the Mother (C2) – *Missable* Requires all Seals. Very easy to find orb, the only thing making it missable is that this area is inaccessible after beating the 8th guardian, so you need to get it before beating the last guardian (Usually Tiamat is the last one you beat).
  • Filled every item slot.

  • Obtained all maps.

    *Missable*

There are 17 maps that you must find in order to get this trophy. Only 1 map is missable, the one in Shrine of the Mother, but it can be obtained any time up until you beat all 8 guardians. I’d recommend using the maps located HERE to see what rooms to explore as the locations in this guide will use the coordinates from there.

Here are the 17 maps and how to obtain them:

    • Surface (I3): Requires the Hand Scanner. From the initial spawn point, head right a screen, then up a screen, followed by right again taking the upper path.
This next screen will have a skeleton in the corner, equip the Hand Scanner and press to obtain the map.
    • Gate of Guidance (C3): From the entrance, head right 1 screen, down 2 screens, and left 1 screen. This room has a locked chest, and a switch on the left. Place a weight on the switch and collect the map.
    • Masoleum of the Giants (C2): From the entrance, head right 1 screen. In this area is a switch you can press, DO NOT PRESS IT YET!
First, head to the room directly below (either by going left or right a screen, then down). In this room will be the locked chest, as well as a raised platform on the left ledge underneath. Stand on the platform, which will change a switch above the chest.
Now head back up to the room with the switch that I said not to press, and place a weight on it. Now head back down and the chest will open.
    • Temple of the Sun (C1): This one is tricky to explain, but easy to obtain. From the entrance, head right 1 screen to see the chest locked on the side. Also in this same room near the bottom left is a raised platform that you must stand on to open the chest. You need to make your way to this spot.
In order to do this, head back to the entrance, and fall off the left side. Then head through the 1-way door and navigate through this enclosed area to get to that platform.
Once you stand on the platform the chest will open and you can claim the map (Note that the ladder disappears when you grab it, simply push the statue to open it back up).
    • Temple of Moonlight (B2): Another tough to explain one that will be much easier using the map guide. From the entrance that you warp into (the blue rooms), head up and left until you exit the blue rooms (Now the rooms are coloured red). If you came in from the doorway entrance, simply head up 3 screens to get to the same room.
You’ll see a chest in this room, which is not the map chest but is used to verify your location. From here, head right 1 screen and place a weight on the switch to disable the crusher trap, then head up and left back to the room with the chest. Head left 1 more screen but don’t fall down here (The map is in this room).
Climb up the ladder and you’ll be in a room with some bats and an exit above. From here you need to make a tricky jump to the small opening on the bottom left. This new area has the Grapple Claw Item, try to get it while you’re here if you can. Simply fall down from here and exit to the right through the maze of skeletons.
Now jump the gap, place a weight on the switch, and run to the chest! Note that once you place the weight, a set of spikes will try to crush you, so run to the chest to avoid being killed.
    • Spring in the Sky (C6): Really easy to find. From the entrance, head right 2 screens.
This room contains the map, simply place a weight on the switch below and get this super easy map!
    • Inferno Cavern (E1): From the entrance, head left 2 screens, then up.
The chest is in this room. To get it, hit the two statues on both sides 6 times with any weapon. They will start shooting fire at you once you’re done, and the chest will open.
    • Chamber of Extinction (B3): It will be pitch black here, but if you have the Flare Gun, you can navigate here a lot easier. From the entrance, head right 1 screen, then down 1.
The map is in this room but to open it, you need to place a weight on the switch hidden by spikes in the bottom left corner.
    • Endless Corridor (A1): Easy chest to obtain. From the entrance, simply head left until you see the locked chest.
Enter the door on the left, which will take you back to the spawn room. Doing this unlocks the chest so either walk back to the left to get back there, or warp to the grail tablet in the same room.
    • Twin Labyrinths (D2): Requires the Twin Statue. You’ll enter this area a few times early in the game, and will probably get lost at the same time since everywhere looks the same and most areas are inaccessible until later. You cannot obtain this map until you solve the puzzle involving using the Twin Statue to remove the poison in the upper area.
First, head here via the exit from the boss room in Temple of the Sun. After the poison has been removed, simply head down the ladder on the right. In this supposed dead end, destroy the wall on your right and the map chest is here.

[Note to self, need to check if the statue’s switch is needed to open it]
    • Shrine of the Mother (A3): *Missable* You cannot get this once you beat all 8 bosses, so make sure you get this before that point!
This room is accessed from Twin Labyrinths (G1), which requires having the poison removed there. Once you’re in this small area, you’ll see the chest on the right and a switch in the middle. Watch out for the crusher while pressing the switch. Once you get the map, a crusher will try to crush you so move away fast!
    • Graveyard of the Giants (D3): You’ll first enter this area through a door from the Masoleum of the Giants. From here, head right 1 screen and you’ll see the map chest above you.
Place a weight on the switch to open it, then head left a screen, up a screen, and then finally right a screen. Place a weight on this switch, giving you access to the chest.
    • Gate of Illusion (D5): This entire area is hard to navigate due to a lot of hidden portals, so bear with my instructions. It’s probably the hardest one to find and obtain.
First enter here from the Temple of Moonlight (B1). From that entrance, head left, then up, then left again (There’s only 1 path here, so this part is easy).
In this next room, you’ll see a tablet with two 1-way doors on either side of it. First, ignore those and just walk left along the bottom. In this room is the map chest and 4 opened small chests. You need to walk in front of each small chest to open the map chest, so walk in front of the 2 lower ones, then backtrack to the tablet.
Now instead of taking the exits there, equip the Hand Scanner and press on the blue light. This opens a hidden path below you, which will lead you up and to the left, back to the map room.
Now go up and walk in front of the 2 chests up there to open the map. Now the tricky part is to exit this area, you have to use hidden portals to teleport yourself back to the entrance again.
From the map room, break the pot and walk into the wall. This teleports you to a new room (F5). Now walk into the same wall you exited from, which warps you 1 room left (F4). Now walk to the very right, breaking the pots in the way and walk into the wall in the next room (F5). This will teleport you to the right side of the 1-way doors, which you can now exit by following the path out to the right.
Now you should be back at the room after the entrance, so head back up to the 1-way door room. Then take the left 1-way door to reach the map room.
IMPORTANT! The map chest is plain sight is a fake and will blow up if you try to open it. Instead, use a weight to open the small door underneath, and break open the wall on the left to reveal the true chest.
    • Tower of the Goddess (C8): From the main entrance from the Surface, head up 1 screen and right 1 screen.
In this room, press the switch in the top left, and the chest opens. It is hidden in the bottom right corner behind the pillar.
    • Chamber of Birth (B4): Requires Maternity/Woman Statue. This area is weird because there are 2 halves to this area, and the half with the map is accessed fairly late in the story. First, you have to take the exit leading here from Tower of the Goddess (A2). From this entrance, walk right 1 screen through the fake wall, and straight down.
The map chest is located here in the bottom left corner. Directly above it is a figure symbol in the wall, equip the Maternity/Woman Statue and press here to open the chest.
    • Tower of Ruin (B3): There are many entrances to this area, but the chest is closest to the entrance leading to the Gate of Illusion (D3).
From this area, make your way to the top right corner, and break the wall here. Now head right and there will be a switch here to open the map in the room below you.

[NOTE TO SELF. Need to check if there’s a switch to press or anything of that sort]
    • Dimensional Corridor (B7): Nearly impossible to miss. As soon as you enter here for the first time, you’ll see the switch and chest in plain sight.
No traps here, simply place a weight and grab the map!
  • Unlocked all fairy locks.

See Lights Of The Fairies for how to unlock the fairies and the different Fairy types, as well as Fairy Light Completionist for the spawn points.

For this trophy, you need to use a Key Fairy to unlock 4 doors/chests around the map. There are actually 6 locations to do this, but 2 of them are not needed for the trophy. However in going for 100%, all 6 will be needed so I’ll list all the locks regardless.

You can get the fairy from any spawn point, you will just have to teleport around to get to the area you need.

Here are the areas that you must go to:

    • Spring in the Sky (D4): Once you have opened the shop for the first time, bring the fairy here and it will unlock the shop again, but this time give you a set of new items to buy (needed for 100%). You can reset the shop to its formal self by bringing another key fairy here if you so wish to.
    • Chamber of Extinction (G5): The fairy will do all the work here, simply stand still and it will open the door leading to the Gate of Time.
    • Gate of Illusion (A4): This room is hidden, and you’ll have to break the floor of the room above it to access it. Once you’re inside, the fairy will head straight to the chest and unlock it for you. This chest contains the Fairy’s Vest, so if you’re going for This isn’t even my final form!, DO NOT GRAB IT!
    • Tower of the Goddess (C1): Teleport to the grail point, and head left with the fairy. It will open a chest hidden here, which contains the Spaulder.
    • Gate of Illusion (C5): NOT NEEDED! You will do this as part of a side quest to unlock Hell Temple. Until that point, bringing a fairy here will do nothing.
    • Hell Temple (A7): NOT NEEDED! The fairy will remove a block in the bottom right corner, allowing you to solve a puzzle here!
  • Opened all small treasure boxes.

There are 28 treasure chests that you have to find for this trophy. A lot of them are very well hidden, but luckily none of them are missable. That being said, I would advise not going for this trophy until you are doing your 100% run, as the trophy popping will be an easy confirmation that you found them all.

The game does not keep track of any chests you find so you’ll have to keep track yourself, but no matter what the last one you get will always be during the Escape Sequence at the end of the game. So if it doesn’t pop there, you’ve missed a chest somewhere.

Here are all 28 treasure chests and how to unlock them: (Note that I will list them by area, but some cannot be obtained until later in the game once you have certain items/areas unlocked)

    • Surface (D3): Requires the Life Seal. Simply jump in front of the seal on the wall once you have the item, and the treasure chest will open.
    • Surface (J2): Cannot be accessed until you’ve defeated Palenque. You’ll head through this area as part of the story near the end of the main game, and it’s in plain sight.
    • Surface (K1): Can be grabbed at any time, but having the Scalosphere helps. Break the wall where the water is falling down, and the chest in inside here.
    • Gate of Guidance (C4): You’ll see the chest in the bottom right corner, but cannot access it. There is a switch that you place a weight on in the top corner. You need to go right 1 screen to access it, but jump towards it as there’s a trapdoor here. Once you do that, the box will open, so head right to see an opening to jump through.
    • Gate of Guidance (G2): First, you need to place a weight on the switch in this room to open the chests. To access them, you need to activate the elevator on the left half of the map, and ride it to the top (B3). From there, you can walk along an invisible walkway above the map to a ladder, which leads to the 2 chests.
    • Gate of Guidance (G2): See above, exact same area.
    • Masoleum of the Giants (C1): Requires Shurikens or any subweapon that you can throw forward. From the entrance to this area, take the lowest path to the right. You’ll arrive at a dead end with a gap in the floor, simply throw a bunch of Shurikens at the wall which will reveal this chest.
    • Temple of the Sun (E4): Requires Bombs. This chest is the most worthless one in the game. You need to throw around 4-5 bombs from the upper left platform into the wall in the upper middle. Once you’ve thrown enough bombs, the wall will open, revealing a chest with a single coin in it. Wait until endgame to grab this since you’re going to waste lots of money of those bombs.
    • Temple of Moonlight (B1): Requires Double Jump and Shurikens. There’s a pit on the right side of this area, what you need to do is jump towards the pit, and double jump onto the wall, then throw a Shuriken at the spikes. This will reveal the chest. It might take a few tries to get the timing correct.
    • Spring in the Sky (B9): This chest is hidden pretty well. Head 1 screen right, and attack the wall next to the ladder in the top left. It will open, so follow it to the left to find this chest.
    • Inferno Cavern (E2): Requires Ice Cape. Head 1 screen right (where the giant statue is), and into the lava. On the very left side of this area, attack the wall a few times until it breaks, and the chest is in the next room.
    • Inferno Cavern (C1): You won’t go here until near the very end of the game. Simply attack the wall under the tablet and the chest will appear.
    • Chamber of Extinction (B3): This is hidden on the upper path through this area. Attack the pot that looks like a melted candle in the bottom right, and the chest in inside it.
    • Endless Corridor (C3): Attack the wall on the middle left a few times to open up the wall and chest.
    • Shrine of the Mother (B5): There are 3 statues on the left side of the screen, attack the top one a few times and the chest will appear.
    • Twin Labyrinths (B4): In the very middle of the screen is a small wall that look out of place, simply destroy it with any weapon and the chest inside.
    • Twin Labyrinths (H3): This is the room right after the mini-boss. There is a secret invisible wall slightly left of center that you can jump into, then head right for the chest.
    • Graveyard of the Giants (C1): You’ll see this in plain sight in the top right corner. In order to get this, you’ll have to drop a couple of ice platforms to reach it. The switches on the left and bottom right control which platforms drop.
If you drop both of the platforms, you can still reach the chest; You’ll just need to get on the ledge below it, then double jump left and up to reach it. But if you drop only the upper platform, you can simply walk over to the chest.
    • Tower of the Goddess (B5): There is a pressure plate hidden on the very left side above the water pipe, stand on it and the chest will be revealed.
    • Tower of the Goddess (E1): Break the floor near the pot and a small opening with the chest will appear.
    • Gate of Illusion (F6): To get this, you must travel a few screens up and left to the room with the two 1-way doors. From there, go through the door on the right and follow the path all the way down to the area with the chest. From there, jump the gap to the very left side. Jump down towards the spikes but attack the wall on the right a bunch of times and it will open, revealing the chest.
    • Gate of Illusion (A4): Requires Katana. This is the same hidden room where the Fairy’s Vest is. You need to break open the floor with any weapon in the room above. In the bottom right corner is a wall you can break, but only the Katana can break it, so just attack it nonstop until it opens up the chest.
    • Tower of Ruin (E2): Attack the left wall a bunch until it breaks and reveals the chest.
    • Chamber of Birth (E2): In this room blades spin around that can kill you very fast, and what you need to do is kill a ninja enemy (the small red enemies that appear out of nowhere). Once you kill one, the wall in the top left will open with the chest there.
    • Chamber of Birth (H4): Break the wall in the bottom left corner of this room for the chest.
    • Chamber of Birth (E6): There are red and blue pillars in the center of the room and normally if you attack one you get zapped and lose a ton of health. But there is one pillar in the bottom left that hides the chest behind it, so attack this one from the left to get this chest.
    • Dimensional Corridor (B6): Attack the right wall near the bottom a few times to open a secret wall with the chest.

    After Final Boss:

    • Twin Labyrinths (B2): Enter here via Masoleum of the Giants during the Escape Sequence at the end of the game. Once you enter this room, the wall will break and the chest will be revealed (The trophy will unlock here provided you got all the other ones).

If the trophy did not unlock here, simply reload your save file before the final boss, and travel through all the areas again making sure you got everything, then replay the final boss and get the last chest again.

  • Called a fairy from every fairy point.

    *Missable*

There are 10 fairy points in the game, but only 9 are required for the trophy. All you need to do is access a fairy from each one. You will need to unlock fairy points first, see Lights Of The Fairies for info.

Be sure to let them de-spawn once you’ve got one, as sometimes the fairy requirement for getting 100% can glitch. The trophy itself is not glitched, but the fairy that shows up at the end can glitch. My advice is to make a save before beating the 8th guardian just in case it doesn’t register the missable one.

Also keep in mind that after using 1 fairy, the others will disappear and be unusable until a set time has passed (Or you can save the game and reload the save file to bring them back again).

Here are the locations of the fairies: (All of them are in plain sight so no need for info other than the coordinates)

    • Spring in the Sky (D5)
    • Temple of Moonlight (C6)
    • Chamber of Extinction (I5)
    • Endless Corridor (D3)
    • Twin Labyrinths (B5)
    • Gate of Illusion (A3)
    • Tower of the Goddess (B5)
    • Shrine of the Mother (B6) *Missable once you beat all 8 guardians.*
    • True Shrine of the Mother (C5)
    • Hell Temple (C6) *Not needed for the trophy, but you’ll use it to solve a puzzle in Hell Temple.*

Once you’ve used each fairy point at least once, the trophy will pop. Usually the one in the True Shrine will be the last one.

  • Watched the ending with the entire cast present.

    *Missable*

To get this trophy, you have to satisfy a bunch of requirements for getting 100% completion in the game, as well as completing the game on hard mode. The way it works is there are different characters that will run across the screen at the end of the game, and each character has a specific requirement to get them to show up.

Some characters are story related, but for the ones that aren’t, here is a list of who they are and what is needed to get them to show up.

Also if you are unsure of who they are by name, the trophy images for each requirement have that character as the trophy image (At least the ones that have trophies associated with them do, the rest can be viewed in the Bestiary)

    • Samaranta: Beat the game in under 40 hours.
      Missable, see Speed Runner.
    • Argus: Beat the game in under 20 hours.
      Missable, see Speed Runner.
    • Rusalki: Beat the game in under 10 hours.
      Missable, see Speed Runner.
    • Nebur: Collect every map.
      Missable, See Map Collector.
    • Alsedana: Collect all Sacred Orbs.
      Missable, see Maximum Power.
    • Naramura: Find all 3 hidden development characters.
      See NIGORO MANIA.
    • Gyonin: Puchase the Shell Horn or the software Guild from his shop.
Missable, do not buy the Guild software from anywhere else or else you lock yourself out of this requirement! You get the Shell Horn at the surface normally, so don’t worry about that one, the important one is the Guild software. His shop is located in Spring in the Sky (D4), but you need a Key Fairy to change to his secret shop.
    • Giltoriyo: Collect the software La Mulana. See La-Mulana Mania.
    • Fobos: Collect the software Enga Musica. This is located in Graveyard of the Giants (F4). In the centre of the screen is a ice block with text inside, us a bomb to open it up. Then scan the text with torude.exe to unlock this software.
    • Skeleton: Collect every software item.
Missable, there are 20 software items to find and surprisingly there is no trophy for collecting them all! All but one can be obtained at any time. Here are all the different ones you can find, as well as the actual names plus the in-game names:
      • Glyph Reader (reader.exe): Buy from the Surface shop (F4) for 50 coins.
      • Xelpud Mailer (xmailer.exe): Story related, you get this from Xelpud at the start of the game.
      • Yagoo Map Reader (yagomap.exe): Buy from the Surface shop (F4) for 20 coins.
      • Yagoo Map Street (yagostr.exe): This is in a chest at the Gate of Guidance (A3). However, you cannot access it until you travel through the Gate of Illusion and take the doorway that leads above here. Then there is a raised platform which disables the trap below, giving you access to the chest.
      • TextTrax (bunemon.exe): Buy from the Temple of the Sun shop (D2) for 50 coins.
      • Additional Text Memory (bunplus.exe): Located in Inferno Cavern (F5), break the wall above the dead skeleton on the left.
      • Snapshots (torude.exe): Buy from the Tower of Ruin shop (C3) for 200 coins (To open the shop, head right 1 screen and press the switch at the bottom).
      • Guild (guild.exe): Buy from either the Gate of Guidance shop or Gyonin’s hidden shop in Spring in the Sky (D4) for 60 coins. Buy it at Gyonin’s shop for the 100% ending.
      • Mantra (mantra.exe): Story related. You’ll get this late into the game at the Chamber of Extinction (D4) by scanning the mural with torude.exe. Note you can only do this after using the Magatama in (E1).
      • Enga Musica (emusic.exe): Located in Graveyard of the Giants (E4). You need to blow open the center ice wall with bombs, then equip the torude.exe software and scan the area for this.
      • Beo La-Mulana (beolamu.exe): Head to the Dimensional Corridor (B3). Equip the torude.exe software and scan the room to unlock this.
      • Death Village (deathv.exe): Requires Double Jump. At the Surface (I3), there is a statue of Xelpud. Double jump over it and break the wall behind it to find this.
      • Rose & Camellia (randc.exe): Buy from Gyonin’s shop in Spring in the Sky (D4) for 300 coins.
      • Space Capster II (capstar.exe): Buy from the Inferno Cavern shop (E4) for 150 coins.
      • Lonely House Moving (move.exe): Buy from the shop in Gate of Illusion (A3) for 300 coins.
      • Mekuri Master (mekuri.exe): Head to the Surface near the waterfalls on the right side (K2). Climb on the lower ladder about halfway up, then attack the left wall with any weapon to reveal a hidden shop. Jump around the ledge and into this alcove to find the software inside the shop.
      • Bounce Shot (bounce.exe): Missable once you’ve beaten all 8 guardians. Head to Shrine of the Mother (E4) and in the top right corner you will see a chest hidden very well behind a statue. Throw about 10 Shurikens into this and the chest will open with this software inside.
      • Miracle Witch (miracle.exe): Buy from the shop at Tower of the Goddess (A3) for 300 coins. Requires the Lamp of Time to access.
      • Future Development Company (mirai.exe): Located in Graveyard of the Giants (B5). Double jump to the switch above from the left side, place a weight and the chest below will open.
      • La-Mulana (lamulana.exe): At the very top of the Gate of Time, you’ll be at the surface with all the tents. Go inside the Xelpud tent and he’ll tell you about this software. Now go 1 screen right, and break open the wall on the left of the ladder to find this.
    • Weapon Fairy: Use every fairy point in the game.
Missable and slightly glitched. See Fairy Light Completionist for the locations. Note that for this requirement, you have to not only go to each spawn point, but you must wait until the fairy de-spawns for it to count. Make a separate save before beating all 8 guardians in case it doesn’t register the one missable fairy in Shrine of the Mother.
    • Item Fairy: Open every small treasure chest.
      See Treasure Hunter.
    • Key Fairy: Open all fairy locks.
      See Master Key.
    • Fairy Queen: Collect every item.
There are a lot of items to find throughout the game. But none of them are missable and nearly all are story related, so you’ll obtain almost all of them by playing normally.
If you look at your inventory screen, every spot should be filled except for the bottom right spot of the Sub Weapon category (This is where the Ankh jewels went for boss fights), and the bottom right spot for Seals.
A few items will be bought at shops, a couple come from fairy chests (you’ll get these going for 100% naturally), and the rest are found throughout the world, but are all in chests that are in plain sight, so you won’t need to worry about this one.
    • Sacrificial Maiden: Obtain all emails.
      Missable, see Xelpud’s Pen Pal.
    • Dracuets: Complete Hell Temple.
You’ll get this naturally providing you complete the temple.
    • Mother (final boss): Defeat all guardians in Hard Mode.
Missable, but as long as you start hard mode before killing the first boss, you’ll get this normally.

As you can see it’s quite an extensive list, but the 100% walkthrough will take you through the entire game in a way so that you won’t miss anything.

Since some of the requirements overlap, to summarize everything needed:

    • Beat the game in less than 10 hours.
    • Make sure to purchase the Guild software from Gyonin!
    • Collect every collectible: Items, emails, software, fairy points/locks, maps, Nigoro characters.
    • Beat all bosses and Hell Temple on Hard Mode.

Doesn’t sound too bad now right? Good luck!

  • Obliterated all Guardians in HARD MODE.

    *Missable*

Technically this is a story related trophy, but if you accidentally defeat a boss before activating Hard Mode, you’ll lock yourself out of the trophy. See Once You Read It, You Can Never Go Back for how to turn on Hard Mode.

For the purposes of this trophy, the final boss is included as a guardian. Once you’ve beaten all the guardians and the final boss while playing on Hard Mode, the trophy will pop after the final fight.

  • Obliterated all Guardians without using secondary weapons.

    *Missable*

See All I need is one finger! for details.

  • Obliterated all Guardians without using secondary weapons in HARD MODE.

    *Missable*

To get this trophy and the previous one, you must beat all 8 of the main guardians of the game and the final boss without using any subweapons. The Hell Temple boss is not needed for either trophy. The trophies do stack, so you can unlock both at once while playing on Hard Mode.

You cannot use any subweapons, but you are allowed to equip the Shield. So for every boss fight always have your shield out even if you won’t use it, because it can be a lifesaver!

I have detailed boss strategies in each of the trophies for defeating them, with tips for how to win without subweapons. So use those respective trophies whenever you’re stuck if you can’t beat them.

Secret trophies

  • Found every NIGORO staff member.

First of all, in order to be able to see the characters, you need 2 software items:

    • miracle.exe – Bought at a hidden store in Tower of the Goddess (A3), requires the Lamp of Time to access.
    • mirai.exe – See Take A Walk On The Dark Side for obtaining this.

Once you have these 2 software items, equip them at the same time. Now head to the following locations to find the game developers (and more importantly the trophy):

    • Tower of the Goddess (D5): There’s a statue in the bottom right corner, jump into the body and press to enter it and find a character.
    • Temple of Moonlight (B3): This is the room where you obtained the Axe. From where you picked it up, attack the floor with the Axe and it will open a secret door with the character inside.
    • Gate of Illusion (D4): This is the room where you fight Chi-You, the giant mini-boss. On the right side of the spike pit, you can break the wall, revealing a hidden door with the final character inside.
  • Bathed in the hot springs 100 times.

Easy trophy but may take a while to unlock due to grinding. I recommend not bothering to get it until the end of the game.

All you need to do is heal yourself at the hot springs in the surface whenever you take damage. Do this 100 times for the trophy. Note that you cannot heal and take damage again on the same screen, you have to move a screen away for it to count.

You might get this while playing naturally, as it’s really the best and fastest way to heal yourself before a boss fight or anytime you need health.

If you don’t unlock it naturally, simply heal yourself, and then walk a screen to the right. Take damage over there, then walk back and heal again. Repeat as necessary until the trophy unlocks.

  • Unlocked the HELL TEMPLE.

    *Missable*

The only reason this trophy is missable is because you could potentially complete the temple before activating Hard Mode. But seeing as you’ll need to beat the majority of the game on Hard just for the ending trophies and 100%, that point is moot.

First of all, you’ll need to have access to Hell Temple. See The Gate To Hell Has Opened for how to access it.

Hell Temple is the hardest area of the game, and where the 9/10 difficulty comes into play. You need to conquer 41 rooms of different perils and puzzles, as well as a few boss fights along the way, then finally finishing with 1 final boss. Also in some rooms if you fall down, you will have to replay a large portion of the temple to get back to the point where you fell.

You’ll want to have as many weights as possible, as you’ll be using tons of them to solve all the puzzles. The last thing you’ll want is to get really close to the end, only to run out of items that you need to get through.
So stock up on as many weights, bombs, and any other subweapons you have. Also keep the Lamp of Time charged at all times as it helps with a few puzzles.

There are “checkpoints” throughout the temple, and 1 major shortcut about halfway through the temple. The checkpoints are basically rooms that say HELL in them when you fail a room by falling down. Near the beginning every failure leads to the same room, which takes you back to the start after. But after every 6-10 or so rooms, you will access a new HELL room, which will take you to a room partially through the temple so you don’t have to replay everything again.

Be warned though: If you warp out of the temple to restock, you have to play through all the rooms again (At least until you unlock the shortcut).

The first half of the temple is fairly easy, just a lot of platforming and placing weights everywhere. One room is difficult and uses bombs to hit a switch that falls rapidly, use the Lamp of Time to make this easier! Once you complete that room, JUMP DOWN AND HOLD ! Don’t fall down or else you’ll land in the spawn and have to redo everything again.

There is 1 secret mini-shortcut here (between B3 and C3). Stand at the doorway connecting those 2 rooms and throw about 10 Shurikens at the wall to the right, it will break and save you the hassle of travelling through the first 8 rooms again.

About halfway through the temple is the first boss, Mushussu. This is the same boss that you fought in the Dimensional Corridor to access Tiamat. The only difference is that there’s a pit on the right, and if you fall you have to refight the boss (Luckily the HELL room is only 1 screen away this time). Just use the pistol and Lamp of Time to kill the boss easily, he has a lot of health though so be fast!

In the next room, the block at the top is fake on the right side, and hides a ladder to the shortcut room, so climb it and enter the door in that room to unlock the shortcut! Now you can restock and enter back here at any time!

The second half of the dungeon is really annoying! There is a room that you need to wall jump between spikes (A8,A9), and you need to do this at least 3 times while solving puzzles! It’s very frustrating to do and will cause many to stop playing the game!

Furthermore, there are a few things you need to do to complete Hell Temple before continuing. You’ll need to sleep in each of the 5 HELL Rooms. Pause the game with until Lemeza falls asleep, you’ll hear a chime when you unpause to know you did it right. Once you sleep in all 5 HELL Rooms, you can try to get past the wall-jumping area.

Once you get past that area and the 1 room after with the really tricky jumps on incredibly small platforms, you’ll enter a room with Viy lasers going off in every direction (C9). Stand on the middle eye and press to enter a secret room (Can’t be done unless you slept in all 5 HELL rooms). Read the tablets in this room.

Now you have to find 4 skulls around the entire temple that are located in the background with different facial expessions, and have to press on them with the Hand Scanner equipped. You’ll know you did it right if you see a white flash of light.
    The locations are here:

    • (D1): Bottom right corner.
    • (E7): Middle/Right side.
    • (C6): Left of doorway.
    • (A9): Bottom of the first wall-jumping section.

Once you’ve activated all 4, you need to make your way into the hidden tablet room again. A new tablet will appear so read it. Once that’s done, head back to the spawn and press on the tablet near the top of the screen. You’ll enter a new area, simply place a weight and leave.

Now you can access the last area and complete the dungeon. There are 2 more boss fights before the final boss. First is 2 scorpion looking enemies called Girtablilu.

These bosses are pretty easy. Just attack them 1 at a time, starting with the lower one and once they’re dead they stay dead even if you leave. More importantly, if you leave the room and re-enter it, an infinite number of Mudmen spawn, so you can use those to grind XP to heal yourself for the next boss.

Next is a giant worm and lion boss at the same time (Kuusarikku and Ushum). These function the exact same as their counterparts in the Dimensional Corridor except that there’s 2 at once instead of fighting each boss separately. Just attack when safe and you’ll beat them. Don’t forget to go up to fight Mudmen until you can heal! 1 more easy room then the final challenge: The Boss of Hell Temple!

The Boss is basically the same as those little blue blob enemies called Mini Bosses. He just blobs around the room along the floor nonstop and does major damage if he touches you. Every time you damage him, he releases little blobs out to attack you. You can grapple onto the wall above on the sides, and stay perfectly safe from all attacks.

Use as many subweapons as possible, especially the pistol later in the fight, and once he’s down you’ll be almost done!

In the next room, there are invisible holes everywhere that can force you to restart everything again (use the map to see where!). Make sure you jump over them and read the lower tablet to be done with the Temple and unlock the trophy!

  • Completed the HELL TEMPLE.

See The Masochist King for details. Note that this trophy is not missable but the other one is due to playing on Hard Mode.

  • Completed the HELL TEMPLE without the Fairy's Vest.

    *Missable*

The reason this trophy is missable is because once you unlock the Fairy’s Vest you cannot get this trophy, so never pick up this item (The location is a locked chest in the Gate of Illusion requiring a Key Fairy and is quite hidden, so it’s easy to miss regardless)!

Now all you have to do is complete Hell Temple and the trophy will pop. You can pick up the vest at any time after unlocking the trophy if you choose to do so (All it does is cut all damage received in half).

See The Gate To Hell Has Opened for how to reach Hell Temple and The Masochist King for getting through it.

  • Everyone in the ending has that summer feeling.

    *Missable*

See Let’s Go Together for how to get all characters in the ending.

After you complete Hell Temple, TALK TO MULBRUK before beating the game. Make sure to save before talking to her so you can get both ending trophies without having to start a new game.

Then beat the final boss and you’ll get this trophy during the credits.

  • Everyone's here, but only you feel like it's summer.

    *Missable*

See Let’s Go Together for how to get all characters in the ending.

The only thing you need to make sure of is that once you beat Hell Temple, DO NOT TALK TO MULBRUK. This will lock you out from this trophy and would require another full playthrough (Or reloading an older save prior to that).

Then beat the final boss and you’ll get this trophy during the credits.

  • Flattened by a falling giant.

You might get this one naturally while playing, but if not you can get it at any time.

Head to the lowest room of Masoleum of the Giants (E6), and turn the switch to become stars. Then head up 2 screens, followed by right 2 screens (G4).

A giant statue will fall over, creating a ladder to get up to another screen, simply move underneath it before it falls to get this trophy. It will usually kill you as it does over 200 damage, but if you come back here after getting all upgrades, it’s possible to live through it and still get the trophy.

If you want to reset the statue for the trophy, simply change the switches at the bottom to something else, then back to stars.

  • Squashed by a falling sun.

    *Missable*

Make sure you save before doing this! In the Temple of the Sun, there is a giant pyramid in the center-right side of the map. At the top of the pyramid (E3) is a room with a massive wheel depicting the sun. Hit the sun with your whip about 6 times, and it will fall out to open a warp to a new area. Simply let it crush you instead of dodging it, you will die but also unlock the trophy. If it doesn't crush you, you'll have to reload your save or do it on another playthrough.

  • Surprised Shunderia.

    *Missable*

This trophy is obtained in the Gate of Illusion after fighting the mini-boss Chi-You. To be able to fight him, you first need to do a few things:

You need to get the Mini-Doll and do the small quest for it, see You Are A Small One for details. After that, you need to go to the grail point in the Gate of Illusion, then up 1 screen then right (D2).

In this room, you need make your way to the right side of the screen, then equip the Hand Scanner and press on the flame to turn it off, which opens a path below you. Now head to the left side and walk through the spikes to fall through a trap door on the very left.

Once you place a weight on the switch here, you’ll fall down 1 more ledge, and here you can walk left into the wall to teleport to the other side. Now simply drop down through the bottom right corner.

You’ll land on the other side of the wall with a switch that you need to press. Now you can fight the boss!

Head back to the grail point and SAVE! Go to the right, taking the lower path. The door below will be opened from doing the Mini-Doll quest, so take the 1-way door below it and follow the path to the boss fight.

Fight Chi-You by hitting his shield until he flinches, then jump and attack his face. Repeat until he’s dead.

Now the chest he was guarding will open, but what you want to do here is stand still in the middle of the area. The ceiling will fall and crush you, unlocking the trophy!

Note that if you have high enough health, you can survive the 200+ damage and still get the trophy, but make sure you save beforehand just in case you die while unlocking the trophy.

  • Smooshed by a Super Punch.

This trophy is really easy to obtain, but it’s unlocked near the very end of the game, specifically inside Hell Temple. See The Gate To Hell Has Opened for how to enter the temple.

The area in question for this trophy is about a third of the way through Hell Temple in room (D5). You’ll have to do a series of tough jumps to reach a switch in the top left corner. Once you do, a door will open that you need to climb the ladder to reach.

However, this door is actually fake and a fist will come out, punching you to the lower level, forcing you to restart that section again. On the bright side, the trophy will be unlocked now! (For future reference, the actual exit to this room is under the ladder in a fake wall)

Note that there is also a fist that will punch you in a lower room (B7), but the trophy will not unlock in that room.
