Introduction:

Knack 2 is an action-platformer game developed by SIE Japan Studio and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment. It's the sequel of the first Knack. You control Knack and will need to save the world once again. You will visit many different beautiful areas along with some friends and will have to kill a lot of enemies.

Unlike the first one, you don't have to complete the whole game on Very Hard, only one mission. You will need to collect Chests and buy upgrades throughout the game to make the clean-up easier. Once you have all skills and special Knacks, you will need to replay many levels in order to earn 70 medals. There will also be a few time attacks and coliseum attacks to complete but they are very easy. Overall, the game is easier than the first one.

scharn73 has written a guide to help you find all the Chests; find it HERE.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the game on Hard, collect Treasures Chests and Super Moves + combat related trophies

First of all, start the game on Hard difficulty if you don't want to do another playthrough. It will take you roughly 10-12 hours to finish the game on this difficulty and it's really not that hard. You could start the game on a lowest difficulty as you will need to replay some missions anyway to get medals, and replay all the missions on hard once you have all the skills and Crystal Knacks, it will be a lot easier but also a lot longer.

You also need to collect Treasures Chests until you get all the gadgets and at least one Crystal Knack. After that you don't need to collect Chests anymore but it's highly recommended to continue searching for them until you get at least the Saber Knack (yellow). The Speedy Knack (blue) can also be useful. These special Knacks are not required but will make the challenges and medals a lot easier. Make sure to collect as many blue chests as possible, most of them are in plain sight but you will have to explore a little to find others. You only need 30 for the trophies but they will give you blue orbs to buy all the skill moves.

Make sure to collect the four special moves. The first one is story related, but you will need to find the other ones. You should also take a look at the combat related trophies and complete them now, as there are enough enemies to get them without farming post game.

During this step, you will earn:

Rothari Badge
Gundahar Badge
Xander Badge
Titanic Triumph
Artifact Boss Badge
Heavy Punch Certificate
Hook Shot Certificate
Boomerang Certificate
Ultimate Move Certificate
Marathon Runner
Treasure Hunter
Nose for Treasure
The Doctor's Apprentice
Crystal Relic Collector
All-New Powers
Gadget Boy
The Doctor's Disciple
Onwards and Upwards
Super Move Master
Novice Hero Knack
Hero Knack
It's a Knackout

Step 2: Challenges (Time attacks and Coliseum attacks)

Once you complete the game for the first time, you will unlock 8 challenges in Extra Content. You need to get 5 stars in 5 Time Attacks and 3 Coliseum Attacks. These challenges are pretty easy but will require a bit of practice; they will also be a lot easier if you have Saber or Speedy Knack.

In Time Attacks, make sure to kill every enemies and run into all the green/yellow circles to beat the time and get 5 stars. In Coliseum Attacks, kill as many enemies as possible without being hit to get the maximum points and earn 5 stars.

During this step, you will earn:

Relic Racer
Gladiator
Speed Demon
King of the Coliseum

Step 3: Finish one level on Very Hard + 70 medals

Go in the World Map and replay any mission on Very Hard difficulty. If you have all skills and Saber Knack, it's particularly easy but the easiest level is probably Chapter 6-3.

You can also see how many medals you have in World Map in the main menu. Here you will be able to replay levels to get some medals. There are 143 medals but you only need 70 of them and will have around 20 medals when you finish your first run. The majority of the medals will require you to replay levels on the Very Hard difficulty to beat a certain amount of points, this is actually pretty easy with all the skills and a Saber Knack. Other medals will require you to beat the level within a certain time, beat the level on hard without dying, achieve certain actions, kill certain enemies, find certain chests, etc. Remember that you only need 70 medals, so avoid the ones that you find too hard.

During this step, you will earn:

Sucker for Punishment
The Challenges Begin
Halfway There
You've Got the Knack

Step 4: Clean up

You should already have all the trophies, but if for some reason you still need to farm combat related stuff, chests, super moves or anything, go in World Map in the main menu and replay any mission to get the last trophies.

During this step, you will earn:

Big Hitter
King of Kicking
Tricky Customer
Jumping Knack Flash
Blockbuster
Pro Parrier
Combo King
Sunstone Stunner
Smaller is Better
Goblin Gobbler
Robot Wrecker
Super Move Master
Knack: The Ultimate Invention

Any enemies will count. When you die the enemies killed before your death will still count, and enemies in chapter select will also count.

  • Defeated 50 immobilized enemies.

You first need to learn the Boomerang power. Throw your boomerang by holding and it will immobilize your enemies. Use a powerful attack to kill them while they don't move; if you attack them normally they will move again and you will have to throw another boomerang or it won't count.

The ice breath move will also count towards this so you can start working on this before unlocking the Boomerang. Credits to Ressul.

  • Defeated 100 enemies using Jump Kicks.

Jump Kicks are performed by pressing +. At the beginning, this attack will not be powerful so make sure to upgrade it or attack your enemies with punch attacks to lower their health. You can also kill small enemies with this attack as they are easier to kill.

  • Ran 26.2 miles.

This trophy will automatically pop during the game; it is unmissable.

  • Found 30 chests containing relic energy.

These chests are the blue chests that release blue orbs when you destroy them. There are way more than 30 chests in the game. Some of them are in plain sight while others can be found in secret areas. Blue orbs are useful to upgrade Knack and get more powerful attacks etc, so it would be recommended to explore a little and find these chests.

  • Broke the blocks of 50 enemies.

You first need to learn the Super Punch power in Chapter 3-1. Some enemies have shields that you can break holding :circle. Do that with 50 enemies to get the trophy.

  • Defeated 50 enemies using parries.

Some enemies in the game will throw arrows, bullets, etc. You need to press as soon as the projectile reaches you to counter and deflect it. Usually, enemies will die after 2 parries but there is an upgrade that can improve your parry damage and enemies will die in one hit. There are many enemies that shoot at you during the game, so make sure to kill them this way so you won't have to farm this trophy.

  • Defeated 500 goblin enemies.

There are way more than 500 goblin enemies in the game, so if you make sure to kill every single enemy, you will automatically have this trophy during the game.

  • Defeated 700 robot enemies.

There are way more than 700 robot enemies in the game, so if you make sure to kill every single enemy, you will automatically have this trophy during the game.

  • Found 10 treasure chests.

  • Performed your first Knack upgrade.

Please refer to The Doctor's Disciple .

  • Equipped a combo meter and landed a 100-hit combo.

You will need to unlock the Combo Meter first, it's a gadget and it can be found in Treasure Chests. This gadget will make a combo counter appear and you will need to reach 100 combo to get this trophy.

The combo will stop if you quit the level, restart the level, get hit by an enemy or a trap or if you fall off a cliff and die.

The best place to farm this trophy is in Chapter 5-4 on Normal difficulty, when you see Rothari. There will be multiple waves of enemies and you will be able to get a ~150-hit combo easily. Throw your Boomerang with and try to kill enemies one by one by holding .

If you get hit, let the enemies kill you. You will restart at the last checkpoint and will be able to try again. If you play on Easy the enemies will die much faster and you will not have enough enemies to get the combo. On Hard or higher, enemies will be more aggressive and it will be harder to get the combo.

Here is a video if needed (by PowerPyx):

  • Stunned enemies 50 times with sunstone bombs.

First you need to unlock the Sunstone Bomb gadget, please refer to The Doctor's Disciple to know how to find gadgets.

It's the first gadget that you can unlock and when equipped, it will stun your enemies when you break yellow crystals (sunstones), if the enemies are close to them. You will find many yellow crystals during your fights through the game, so make sure to break them when enemies are close to it and you will get this trophy.

  • Defeated 10 enemies as small Knack.

You can activate small Knack with :R1:. Small Knack is not powerful at all and dies in one hit, so don't attempt this trophy against big enemies. However, you will find many small enemies in the game, and some parts of the game will require you to play as small Knack and there will be enemies there, so you should get this trophy naturally. You can also hit enemies to lower their health and finish them as small Knack if you want the trophy quicker.

  • Cleared all chapters on the Easy difficulty level or higher.

    Please refer to It's a Knackout .

  • Cleared all chapters on the Normal difficulty level or higher.

    Please refer to It's a Knackout .

  • Cleared all chapters on the Hard difficulty level or higher.

Difficulty trophies stack, so you will earn the easy and normal trophies when finishing the game on the Hard difficulty. You won't be able to change the difficulty after starting the game so make sure to start on Hard if you don't want to have to do another playthrough. You don't have to finish the whole game on Very Hard, only one level so you don't have to choose this difficulty.

On Hard, you will die much faster and the enemies will be more aggressive and will block your attack more often, they will also be faster. This is not really hard, but you will probably die a lot. Make sure to parry/dodge when your enemies are attacking, otherwise you will take a lot of damage.

Make sure to use your Super Punch once you've learned it, to break enemies' shields and kill them faster. Once you've learned the Boomerang, use it a lot to stun your enemies, they won't be able to attack for a few seconds so you can use your powerful attacks and kill them quickly.

Kicks have a better range than Punches but they do less damages, use them when they are a lot of enemies around you. When you're attacking a group of enemies, try to focus on the small enemies first and try to kill one enemy after the other instead of attacking them all at the same time, it will be easier.

Try to get as many blue orbs as you can and search for blue chests so you can learn new skills, it will make your run a lot easier.

  • Acquired all gadgets.

Gadgets and Relics can be found in Treasure Chests. There are 100 Chests to find in the game, you will earn either a part of a gadget or a relic when opening a chest. It's random but the content will not repeat, you will always have something that you still need.

There are 7 Gadgets and 4 Crystal Knacks to collect, however only 1 Crystal Knack is required for the trophies.

    Gadgets:

    • Sunstone Bomb (3 Parts)
    • Energy Converter (4 Parts)
    • Crystal Breaker (4 Parts)
    • Secret Detector (5 Parts)
    • Combo Meter (5 Parts)
    • Scanner (4 Parts)
    • Teleporter (5 Parts)

    Crystal Knacks:

    • Speedy Knack (Blue, 20 Aqua Relics)
    • Vampire Knack (Red, 20 Ruby Relics)
    • Saber Knack (Yellow, 15 Topaz Relics)
    • Shooter Knack (Green, 15 Emerald Relics)

You don't have to open all the Chests for the platinum, but it's recommended to unlock at least the Speedy Knack and the Saber Knack to make the medals and time attacks easier.

Please take a look a this excellent guide by scharn73 to know the exact location of all the chests in the game.

  • Learned all super moves.

These super moves are collectibles, you need to find them in order to learn them. These powers can only be activated when you break a Super Sunstone.

The first one is located in Chapter 4-1 and is part of the story. The others are in Chapter 5-4, Chapter 8-2, and Chapter 12-3. Please check this thread to see their exact locations.

  • Learned all basic power-up skills.

There are 4 skill trees with 26 basic power-up skills to learn. You need skill points to learn these skills and you can earn skill points by killing enemies, opening blue chests or breaking sunstones (yellow crystals) once you have the related gadget.

The game will tell you when you have enough points to learn a new skill, open the pause menu and go under Power-up, or open it with the touchpad. You don't need to buy the skills with a red/green circle around them; they don't count for the trophy and they are expensive so it will be a waste of time. You should have enough points to buy all the basic skills through the game; if not you will need to replay a few chapters to earn more blue orbs.

  • Cleared one chapter on the Very Hard difficulty level.

Very Hard is the highest difficulty in the game, but you only need to clear one chapter and not the whole game in this difficulty. You can do it via mission select, under World Map in the main menu.

You should first unlock the Saber Knack before attempting this, even if it's not necessary, it will make the trophy easier to get, as this Knack do more damages. You should also learn every skill moves to make it even easier.

In Very Hard, enemies are more aggressive, do more damage and take more hits before dying. They also attack and move faster and you die faster.

One easy level to attempt this trophy is Chapter 6-3. This is a short level and you will have a Giant Knack for the whole chapter, so it shouldn't be too difficult.

  • Cleared a Time Attack stage.

Please refer to Speed Demon .

  • Cleared a Coliseum Attack stage.

Please refer to King of the Coliseum .

  • Acquired 50 Knack medals.

Please refer to You've Got the Knack .

  • Acquired 70 Knack medals.

Medals are little challenge that you have to complete in all the different levels of the game. Each level contain 3 medals to earn, except the first one which has no medals and boss levels that only contains 2 medals. There are 143 medals in total but you only need to earn 70 of them for this trophy and the platinum.

These challenges are hidden in your first playthrough but they will still count if you do what it's required. You will probably earn ~20 medals during your first playthrough. You will need to earn the rest of them while replaying levels in World Map in the main menu.

When you're replaying a level, you can pause the game and you will see the challenges. There will be a green icon when they're completed, if you leave the level without finishing it, you will get the medal. Though, most of the medals require you to complete the levels.

It's highly recommended to unlock the Saber Knack before attempting these challenges, as most of them will require you to play on the Very Hard difficulty. With all the skills and a Saber Knack, it's actually pretty easy. This difficulty isn't directly required, but the majority of the missions will require you to earn a certain amount of points, which you can only earn in this difficulty.

The majority of the challenges are speed runs, which require you to complete the level in a certain amount of time, beating the level on hard or very hard without being defeated, which can be tricky but doable if you take your time and parry/dodge at the right moment, and clearing the level with a certain score or higher, which you should attempt in the Very Hard difficulty. You can try to stack these challenges when possible to earn multiple medals at once at the end of the level.

There are also small challenges like defeating a certain enemy in the level, finding all the blue chests, or certain actions that you need to do while you're playing the level.

Remember that you don't need all the medals so go for the easy/quick ones and for the scores to beat and avoid the hard/stupid ones. You will need to replay a lot of levels but it won't be that hard. Check this thread if you need more info on specific medals.

  • Achieved 5 stars in every Time Attack.

Time Attacks are unlocked once you've finished the game and can be found in Extra Content in the main menu.

There are 5 Time Attacks and you have to earn 5 stars in each one of them.

It's recommended to have the Speedy Knack or the Saber Knack to attempt this trophy; these special Knacks can be found in Chests in the main game. The Speedy Knack moves and attacks faster and the Sabre Knack can one-hit most enemies, so make sure to pick one of them.

These time attacks are small parts of the game, they will contain enemies and green/yellow circles. The timer stops when you kill an enemy and when you run into a green circle, and you move faster when you run into a yellow circle. Make sure to quickly kill your enemies and don't miss circles.

This will require just a bit of practice but this is very easy to earn 5 stars. Follow this video from Powerpyx if you need some help:

  • Achieved 5 stars in every Coliseum Attack.

Coliseum Attacks are unlocked once you've finished the game and can be found in Extra Content in the main menu.

There are 3 Coliseum Attacks and you have to earn 5 stars in each one of them.

It's recommended to have the Saber Knack to attempt this trophy; this special Knack can be found in Chests in the main game. The Sabre Knack is more powerful and can one-hit most enemies, make sure to pick one of them.

In this mode you will have to kill as many enemies as possible in 1:30 minutes. You earn more points if you don't get hit by your enemies, so make sure to avoid their attacks.

A good combo is Jump Kick (+) followed by a Somersault Kick(+). Another good technique is to dash into your enemies when they appear so they won't attack you and you will hit them (assuming you have all the power skills when you attempt this trophy), and quickly kill them with punch attacks.

This will require just a bit of practice but this is very easy to earn 5 stars. Follow this video from Powerpyx if you need some help:
