Introduction:

Just Dance 2017 is the latest instalment in Ubisoft's #1 dancing game franchise. Like the past few games, this game can be played without a PlayStation Camera. It is highly recommended that you play this game using a smartphone with the Just Dance Controller app, or with a PS Move controller. If you want to play with the PS Move, the PlayStation Camera is not needed. When playing with a smartphone or the PS Move, only one hand is being tracked, whereas your entire body is being tracked with the PlayStation Camera. Due to this, playing with the PlayStation Camera makes it harder to reach Superstar rank in all the songs. Please note that if you choose to play the game using a smartphone, you will require a constant Wi-Fi connection for the app to work.

Most of the game modes are the same as the previous games, with a few minor additions. The trophy list is also largely the same as Just Dance 2016. However, be warned, as the in Just Dance 2017 is the hardest Just Dance this generation due to having to achieve Superstar rank on all the songs, including Alternate versions and Mash-Ups.

NOTE: This guide is based on the PS4 North American version of the game using an iPhone with the Just Dance Controller app. The PS4 China version has a similar trophy list, except with the online trophies removed. The PS3 version has a completely different trophy list but its is currently unobtainable due to a glitched trophy. As of writing this Guide, Ubisoft has not yet made any announcement regarding a patch for this glitch. This guide is also written without the use of Just Dance Unlimited, a service by Ubisoft which regularly adds extra songs. However, some songs through Just Dance Unlimited could help make certain trophies easier.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: World Video Challenge

In this step, you want to focus on the World Video Challenge mode and beating 100 Challengers. All your scores will be saved under Rival mode so you will automatically be working towards the Dance Master trophy. This is the longest step but it will give you good practice towards the later steps. If you are new to the series, you might have some trouble at first but in this game practice makes perfect. There are no shortcuts or tricks to it. You will probably also earn a lot of trophies related to getting specific ranks in this step. After this step, you should have the following trophies:

Welcome to Just Dance® 2017!
Come at me!
Bring it on!
Competitive Spirit
Take all comers
A long road ahead

Step 2: Dance Quest

In this step, complete all the Dance Quests on Superstar difficulty. There are 10 Dance Quests in total, each composed of 3 songs. You should play these straight on Superstar difficulty as you’ve already gained solid experience from the previous step. After this step, you should have the following trophies:

First quest
Gold Rush
Complete your journey
Dance Quest Master!!!

Step 3: Just Dance Machine

In this step, complete Just Dance Machine mode. This is basically the story mode of the game. Keep playing this mode until you have enough energy to power your ship to escape. After this step, you should have the following trophies:

Like a rollercoaster!
Need more energy!
To infinite and beyond!

Step 4: World Dance Floor, Playlists, Collaborative modes

In this step, get all the trophies related to World Dance Floor, Playlists and Collaborative modes. Note that you will need 4 players (4 PS Move controllers or 4 smartphones with the Just Dance Controller app) to earn the two trophies tied to Collaborative mode. If you can't find anyone locally to play the game with you, then refer to the respective trophies for tips on how to do them solo. After this step, you should have the following trophies:

Who’s the boss now?
Entering the competition
Gonna make you Sweat!
I got the power!
Dance Crew
Funky Four!

Step 5: Rival mode Superstar rank and clean up

In this step, focus on earning Superstar rank on all the songs that you haven't already through Rival mode. You must also complete all Alternative versions and Mash-Ups. Also, clean up any remaining trophies that you might be missing. You may also need to collect more Mojos to unlock everything. After this step, you should have the following trophies:

Finding your feet

NAILED it!
Born to Perform
Solid Gold Performance
You’re GOLD, Gold!
It’s all Good!
You’ve got a friend in me…
Perfect Finish!

  • Obtain all other trophies.

    Unobtainable due to Server Closure

    Unlock all the other trophies.

  • Complete your first song.

Complete any song with any rank, then this trophy will pop at the end of the song. This song can be a regular version, Alternative version or Mash-Up.

  • Get 3 stars on a song.

    See Born to Perform.

  • Get 3 stars on 5 different songs.

    See Born to Perform.

  • Get 5 stars on a song.

    See Born to Perform.

  • Get 5 stars on 5 different songs.

Complete any 5 different songs with 5 stars each, then this trophy will pop at the end of the 5th song that you earn 5 stars in. 5 stars require you to achieve 10,000 points in a song. All songs have the same score requirement to earn 5 stars. These songs can be regular versions, Alternative versions or Mash-Ups.

  • Perform all Gold Moves in a song.

    See You're GOLD, Gold!

  • Perform all Gold Moves in 5 songs.

Gold Moves are ones where a "YEAH!" text will pop up on the screen if you completed it successfully. The character on the bottom right of the screen which shows you the dance moves will be highlighted gold. Different songs have different amounts of Gold Moves. It can range anywhere between 1-3. Successfully pull off all the Gold Moves in any song, then this trophy will pop as soon as you successfully pull off the last Gold Move in that song. These songs can be regular versions, Alternative versions or Mash-Ups.

  • Perform only Good Moves or better in a song.

The tiers of scoring from highest to lowest are as follows:

    Perfect
    Good
    OK
    X (miss)

This is a really tough trophy but there are some relatively easy songs to get this in. I found Cake By The Ocean to be the easiest song for this trophy as the moves are really simple and repetitive. Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) is also a good song for this trophy if you play as the leftmost dancer. This trophy will pop at the end of the song upon completing it with only Good moves or better.

  • Finish 5 songs with 2 or more players dancing.

Complete 5 songs with any rank with 2 or more players, and this trophy will pop at the end of the 5th song. If your friends aren't fun and don't want to play with you, there are a couple of options you can do solo:

    1. Use 2 PS Move controllers rubber banded together.
    2. Use 2 smartphones with the Just Dance Controller app, both in one hand.

This trophy cannot be unlocked online, since you must have 2 or more players dancing locally.

  • Get a Perfect on the last move of a song (No Mash-Ups).

This trophy is pretty easy and will come naturally as you play several songs. Earn a Perfect on the last move of a song, then this trophy will pop immediately. This trophy cannot be earned while playing a Mash-Up.

  • Get 10 Perfect moves in a row in any song.

This trophy will pop as soon as you make 10 Perfect moves in a row in any song. These songs can be regular versions, Alternative versions or Mash-Ups. If you're having trouble, then I suggest playing the songs Cake By The Ocean or Watch Me (Whip/Nae Nae) as these songs have a lot of simple and repetitive moves.

  • Get 4 Jewels on a song in Collaborative mode.

    See Funky Four!

  • Get 10 Jewels on a song in Collaborative mode.

A Jewel in Collaborative mode is earned similar to how stars are earned in other modes. Collaborative mode can be played solo but one player can only earn a maximum of 3 Jewels if they earn a Perfect on every move so to earn 10 Jewels, you will need 4 players. If you don't have anyone local to play with, then there you a couple of options:

    1. Use 4 PS Move controllers rubber banded together.
    2. Use 4 smartphones with the Just Dance Controller app, all in one hand.

This trophy will pop at the end of the dance if you’ve earned a total of 10 Jewels.

  • Get 3 stars on all songs (No Alternate versions or Mash-Ups).

See The ULTIMATE Just Dance fan.

  • Get 5 stars on all Songs (No Alternate versions or Mash-Ups).

Earn 5 stars on all songs, except Alternate versions or Mash-Ups. All songs have the same requirement in that getting 5 stars requires getting 10,000 points. This trophy is not as difficult compared to the previous games because points are offered a lot more generously now. The scoring is also a lot more lenient as you get still achieve 5 stars while getting a few OKs or Xs.

Challengers are faced in the World Video Challenge mode. Despite the name of this mode, you do not need a PlayStation Camera to play it. In this mode, there will be players across the world uploading their runs to certain songs. You must beat 100 of these scores for this trophy. One Challenger can have multiple challenges so it doesn’t have to be 100 different people, only 100 different songs.

Every time you beat a Challenger, your score will be sent to them as a challenge. You won't be able to complete any other songs from that same Challenger until they compete against one of your challenges. However, there is a neat workaround that still works as of patch 1.02:

    1. Beat a Challenger.
    2. Go to your pending challenges and choose to give up.
    3. Go and find a different song from that same Challenger.
    4. Repeat steps 1-3 until you’ve beaten all of the Challenger’s challenges.
    5. Repeat steps 1-4 for another Challenger.

If you're having trouble beating challenges, try to find the Challengers who have a player level of 20 or below. These players are typically new to the game and don't have much experience so their challenges are usually easier to beat.

  • Dance every type of songs (solo, duet, trio, quattro).

Different songs have different numbers of dancers participating in them. The number of dancers can range from 1-4. For this trophy, you must complete one song of each type. The score doesn’t matter, and the songs can be either regular versions, Alternate versions or Mash-Ups.

  • Spend 500 Mojos.

    See I want it ALL!

  • Spend 2000 Mojos.

    See I want it ALL!

  • Spend 5000 Mojos.

  • Unlock everything with your Mojos.

Mojo is the currency in this game, which is earned by completing songs in any game mode. To spend Mojo, go to "My Profile" on the game mode selection menu, then go to "Change Avatar". Here you will find all the avatars needed to buy for this trophy. There are also some avatars that you earn by completing certain songs, that are also required for this trophy. You will most likely have enough Mojo to buy all the avatars while going for the other trophies. None of the Just Dance Unlimited avatars are required to unlock this trophy.

  • Complete a Playlist.

This trophy will pop as soon as you complete the last song in a Playlist. A Playlist must contain at least 3 songs. I suggest you go for this trophy along with the I got the power! trophy.

  • Create a custom Playlist.

Create a custom Playlist from the main menu. A Playlist must contain at least 3 songs. This trophy will pop as soon as you’ve created it. You don’t have to actually play it for this trophy but I suggest you complete it anyway as you will need to for the Gonna make you Sweat! trophy.

  • Finish first on a Dance Quest.

    See Dance Quest Master!!!

  • Finish first on all the Dance Quest.

    See Dance Quest Master!!!

  • Finish first on all the Dance Quest with a Hard difficulty.

  • Beat a Boss in World Dance Floor.

    Unobtainable due to Server Closure

    (Online Trophy)

A boss will occasionally appear in World Dance Floor mode. The beat a boss, you must score enough points over several songs with everyone else playing World Dance Floor mode at the same time. The amount of songs you will need to play will depend on everyone's skill and how much everyone is scoring per song. The boss has a health bar and the damage done to it after every song will depend on the score you just received. This trophy will pop once the boss is defeated. You can also jump into a boss fight when it's already lost a lot of health, then just complete the last bit of a song to deal the final blow. As long as you view the screen with the boss' health bar deplete to 0, you will earn the trophy.

  • Participate in a Tournament in World Dance Floor.

    Unobtainable due to Server Closure

    (Online Trophy)

Tournaments are always ongoing in World Dance Floor, unless they are interrupted by a boss fight. For this trophy, you just need to enter a tournament but don't have to actually complete it. This trophy will pop as soon as the first song in the tournament starts.

  • Reach level 5.

    See What? Already???

  • Reach max level.

The max level is level 100. It takes quite a bit of time to reach max level but you will reach it easily before you even get all the other trophies.

  • Dance to a Just Dance Machine Experiment.

Just Dance Machine is a new mode introduced in Just Dance 2017. It's basically the story mode of this game. In this mode, you dance to 5 sessions of short dance routines. Unlike the other modes, these dance routines only score you strictly based on a hit or miss system. You only need to complete one run of 5 sessions for this trophy.

  • Charge 50% Ship Battery Energy.

    See To infinite and beyond!

  • Charge 100% Ship Battery Energy.

In Just Dance Machine mode, you are abducted by aliens and need to power a ship to escape. In order to power your ship, you will need to fill an energy bar by completing dance sessions. Each session is composed of 5 short dance routines. Unlike the other modes, these dance routines only score you strictly based on a hit or miss system. The amount of energy you refill depends on how well you perform each move during your dance sessions. Sometimes during your sessions, a Cosmic Round routine will appear. These give double the amount of energy every time you complete a move successfully. Each session will reward you a maximum of 3 modules, depending on your performance. You will need to replay this mode until you unlock all the modules. There are 32 modules required to charge the ship battery to 100%. This trophy will pop once you unlock the final module. You don’t need to unlock any of the Unlimited modules for this trophy.

  • Reach the "Superstar" rank on a song.

    See Dance Master.

  • Reach the "Superstar" rank on all songs.

Earn Superstar rank on all songs, including Alternate versions or Mash-Ups. All songs have the same requirement in that getting Superstar rank requires getting 11,000 points. This is the hardest trophy in the game but the scoring is pretty lenient as you can still achieve Superstar rank while getting a few OKs or Xs.

  • Finish first on all the Dance Quest with a Superstar difficulty.

Dance Quest is like a tournament mode. You will play through a playlist of songs with 8 other A.I. In each difficulty, all the A.I will always get a certain number of stars but with different scores each time. For example, in Hard difficulty all the A.I will get 4-5 stars on all the songs and in Superstar difficulty all the A.I will get 5 stars or Superstar rank on all the songs. Each song will give you points based on your placement for that song. You don't need to come first in each individual song but you will need to come first overall. There are 10 Dance Quests to complete, each containing 3 songs. The Dance Quest trophies stack so if you finish first on all the Dance Quests on Superstar difficulty, the Complete your journey trophy will also unlock.
