How to unlock Bedsfield Hall Challenge

Go to "Career Mode" > "Challenges"
All 12 courses have a series of 4 challenges in which you must beat John Daly in. The trophy will not unlock until all 4 challenges have been won. The challenges are:

    Driving Test
It's you vs. Daly in a 9-hole long drive contest. The game will tally all 9 of your drives together and compare this score to all 9 of Daly's accumulated drives. For example if you hit all 9 drives exactly 300 yards, and Daly hits all 9 of his 290 yards, you will win this challenge by a score of 2,700 to Daly's 2,610. This is rather easy and should give you no trouble at all. Simply hit your drive full blast and keep it as straight as possible. Your ball does NOT have to land on the fairway for the distance to count, so keeping it straight really isn't that big of a factor here. Just keep away from water at all costs, as this will result in an "out of bounds" shot and give you a score of 0 yards for that hole. Daly's drives are not that impressive, and he often hits his out of bounds a good one or two times per challenge (but not always). So if you are having trouble with a particular Driving Test, just keep replaying it until Daly chokes and hands you the win.

    Approach Ordeal
It's you vs. Daly in a classic 9-hole "closest to the pin" contest. This can definitely be the hardest of the 4 challenges, as you have many decisions to make while standing over your shot. Some of the shots will have you just off the green using a wedge, while others will have you 100+ yards away using mid or even long irons. The scoring works opposite of how the Driving Test does, as the lowest score wins this time instead of the highest score. For example if you hit all 9 of your approaches to exactly within 1 yard of the pin, and Daly hits all 9 of his exactly 2 yards away, you will win with a score of 9 to Daly's 18. A perfect score would be considered 0 yards, if you somehow manage to actually make all 9 shots (which isn't going to happen).

Make sure you activate the yellow "shot shaper" line by using the button, as this will help you see how you have your shot lined up. Understanding how your different clubs work for this challenge is a MUST. The LW (loft wedge) has the highest trajectory, and because of this the ball will fall straight down onto the green and generally stay put. This is the club that you want to use for anything 80 yards or less, as that is it's maximum distance. The main drawback to using a LW however is the wind. Since your ball will be in the air for a longer amount of time, it gives the wind more opportunity to push your shot right or left, or to be way short or way long depending upon where the wind is coming from. That being said, you may want to choose a different club if the wind is stronger than 5mph, as it's rather hard to know how much to adjust your shot since the ball is going so high into the air.

The PW (pitching wedge) is just the opposite, and has a greater maximum distance of 130 yards. This is the wedge with the lowest trajectory, meaning that the ball will not stay in the air as long, nor will it go as high up in the air as the other wedges. This is a great way to combat crosswinds, as the lower trajectory will hardly be affected by the winds. The drawback here though is that the ball will hit the green at an angle, and almost always kick forwards and roll quite a bit. When using this type of shot you generally want to aim around 5 yards short of the pin to allow for the extra roll. Depending upon how the green is designed your ball could literally roll 20+ yards, so 5 yards is more of just a basic starting point. The SW (sand wedge) is in the middle of the LW & PW, and will kick forward and roll less than the PW (but more than the LW), and be affected by the wind more than the PW (but less than the LW).

Any shot over 130 yards in distance will require a 9-iron or higher, but luckily you can manually change the trajectory of these shots by pressing either up or down on the button. By pulling down before your shot you can raise the trajectory to eliminate the ball rolling on the green, but if there's any wind you could be in troule. By pressing up before your shot you will lower the trajectory to keep the ball out of the wind, but it will be harder to stop the ball from rolling once it hits the green.

If you're having trouble beating Daly - who by the way will often choke on these shots also - simply grab a pen and paper and "map out" the holes. Start on hole 1 and keep retrying it until you find the perfect shot for the conditions, and then write it down! Move on to hole 2 and repeat. If you don't write them down it's easy to forget that hole 3 (as a random example) requires a PW aimed at the left edge of the green with 68% power.

    In The Hole
It's you vs. Daly in a 9-hole putting contest. The scoring for this one works like the "Approach Ordeal" challenge, whereas the lowest accumulated score wins. ALWAYS use the yellow "shot shaper" () when putting, as this will tell you EXACTLY where the ball will go as long as you hit it at the proper percentage distance. Line up the yellow line so that it's hitting the dead center of the cup and putt away. Putting in this game is extremely easy, and with a little practice you will be making ridiculous putts from literally any spot on the green regardless of distance. Daly doesn't choke as much on this challenge as he does on the others... but it hardly matters. As long as you line up your putt dead center and hit your percentage strength correctly you simply cannot be beat. I was able to get a perfect score of 0 yards quite a few times by making all 9 putts, and with just a little practice, you will too.

    Match-Up
It's you vs. Daly in a 9-hole match play event. By combining what you've learned in the previous 3 challenges it's time to beat down Daly in a head-to-head match. This should not be too troublesome at all, especially if you've mastered how to make putts. The "money shot" is always your approach shot to the green, and I recommend always aiming for the center of the green regardless of where the pin is actually located. Daly mostly will make pars, with an occasional birdie or bogey thrown in. Just drive it relatively straight, aim for the middle of the green on your approach shot, and use the "shot shaper" to sink the long putt. That will get you a birdie on a Par 4, giving you an extra shot just in case you mess up somewhere to still get your par.
