Hard Finish Trophy in inFamous

  • Hard Finish

Finish story mode on Hard, without changing the difficulty setting.

    How to unlock Hard Finish

Do this on your good playthrough for starters. This isn't too much harder than medium or easy but a few parts are difficult:

    Escorting the Bus:
Once you "Roadkill" you should jump off of the bus and kill enemies quickly. This will make them focus on you and not the bus and make it easier to aim at them. Jump back up when enemies are all gone or when you need quick electricity.

The First Time You Loose Electricity:
This is difficult because of the sheer mass of enemies. The best route is to jump from building to building on the left side of where you start from. There are not as many enemies and more buildings this way. Also, you should focus on getting to the manhole you have to go down ASAP, once you activate it you can't be killed and will move on.

    The Prison Fight:
Again, having to kill tons of enemies is always fun but a bit challenging. Use the pads of infinite electricity as much as you can, spam grenades and the megawatt hammer for quick kills. If you can try to pick a few enemies off as they run in with precision mode. When you get to the point where the giant golem like conduits come to attack you, spam megawatt hammer shots at them. This will ensure that they go down quickly. If they destroy your pad, there are two more around the area so go to one of them and resume your hammer spamming. Grenades are good if they get too close.

    General Tips:
+ Drain electricity whenever possible if hurt or not full. If you need to zap some metal with your bolt and then drain that.
    + Upgrade Damage Resistance ASAP.
+ Upgrade Grenades and Megawatt Hammer as soon as possible, only upgrade shockwave to level 1, the same goes for your regular bolt
+ Use the polarity wall often and upgrade only once
+ Buy the upgrade for faster draining and if you have spare xp buy the induction yield
+ Don't be afraid to take cover and try to save enemies for leeching, they may save you in the middle of a battle

  • fuck this trophy.. last boss is kicking my ass..
  • getting this trophy, is getting really. REALLY annoying in historic district >:/
  • just got it! woot!
  • This trophy really, really sucked to get!!! Kessler is brutal on Hard, took me almost an hour to do it!
  • Why on earth is this so hard? I cant beat Kessler on hard but on normal I beat him in like 10 minutes!! Help!
  • fuck you kessler, nobody likes you and we are excited when your dead :D
  • I started my evil playthrough and didn't change the diff to hard until I reached the parking garage near ground zero (just after the initial explosion) am I ok for this achievement? I hadn't gotten into any combat situations but I don't want to get too far into the game again if I should have changed it back when you first take control of Cole.
  • @7 Yes u will, i done it same way
  • well, hard wasn't too hard for me, just a few places where I died like 10 ten times more, but I ever got stuck or something.
  • This is soooooo hard am stuck on stupid asshole kessler
  • shoot the ground next to him lol
  • My best bet on getting this trophy when you get round to fighting Kessler is to stay on the move, make sure you dodge most (if not all) of his attacks (I find that using circle to keep dodging left an right works well) other than his speedy attacks and astronomical amount of health, he's quite easy to beat haha
  • The use of the L1/R2 = leaching power from Kessler coupled with the dodging/O was the straw that broke the camels' back so to speak. I was stuck on defeating this boss until I employed this technique also when Kessler is shooting his charged ray don't let him hit you or the consequence will be a sequence of eruptions or flurries you can't avoid. Iif you manage to avoid the ray, Kessler's subsequent attacks seem more timid than the all out savagery he will unleash if he tags you with one.
  • Hey havent actually got to kesler in hard yet but it sound well hard let you no when ive completed it :)
  • does this automatically prompt you to switch to hard
  • I got this trophy. Kesler is a nightmare. I beat him in about 30-40 min. it was bad.
  • Kessler can be beat on hard so long as you can dodge his electric bolts long enough to take down 1/3 of his health. His version of the shockwave is particularly nasty too because he comes out of nowhere and knocks you down. Try to avoid with "O". About his lightning bolts... After his third or fourth shot, he kneels down, apparently weakened. When he goes down, nail him with MW Hammers and Grenades. If you run out of charge, use his kneeling time to recharge. Every time you take him down 1/3 of his energy, there is a cut scene and if you die, you come back after that particular scene. So, you only need to focus on taking him down 1/3 of his health at a time.
  • Why is everyone saying this is so hard? I did this on my good playthrough and only died like a total of 4 times and only one of those was against Kessler. For beating Kessler, dodge ALL attacks and after he misses with shockwaves, he kneels down. Launch 3-4 Meggawatt hammers at him and then drain more energy before he attack. SIMPLE! :)
  • Yeah Kessler's movements are pretty linear, just fast...once you get used to the fight it's relatively easy to anticipate his moves.
  • #18 is right, i only died twice
  • i know this "guide" says to do it on good...forget that...evil playthrough with the rockets makes this seem like easy difficulty. Trust me
  • I started the game on normal, after 3 missions the game jacked the difficulty up to hard, and as it's not that hard I stayed with it and got the Hard Finish trophy at the end. Kessler is very just as easy as Alden if you just dodge everything he does and attack him with a bolt each time he fires his laser and pelt him with grenades when he rests after 3-4 shots. Only danger is his quake attack where I just rolled as far away as possible, sometimes resulting in him grabbing me with his Sith-like lightning attack which does considerably less damage than the quake.
  • I went Killzone 2 on Elite so Hard in InFamous can't be so hard :)
  • I didn't have to play the entire game on hard to get the trophy, all I did was copy a save file from the internet and then beat kessler and I got the trophy. Try it, theres lots of saves on the internet, I also used them for the blast shards and Casey Jones.
  • @arkadedj cheater ¬¬
  • can someone help me with this. i just started my second playthrough on hard/evil and was wondering something. when i selected new game i didn't have a chance to select the difficulty. the first chance i had i switched it to hard. will that count if i play it all the way through? i don't want to waste an entire playthrough. thanks,
  • its not hard complete this
  • @Superfriar19 as long as you didnt do any missions yet, you can change the difficulty to what you want it at (in this case hard mode), i did the same thing haha
  • FINALLY! Wow was this brutal at the end, but I got it. Most of the game was a little tougher than on easy, died a few extra times here and there, no big deal. The final fight against Kessler though, that was nasty. It took me over 4 hours to beat him. Tried for like an hour and a half, then came and read tips, then played a few more evil side missions to upgrade Arc Lightning, then tried again and it still took me another hour. So about 2.5 hours of actual fighting vs Kessler. He just kept hitting me with his air shock, ground quake, and those giant ghost-things. And then those flying grenade launchers were a pain. What a relief when I finally beat him and got this trophy!!
  • It's hard but didnt take so long.
  • i read the comments here before starting my hard/evil run. i was kinda afraid of kessler in the end, but i beat him in 15 minutes and only died three times. just keep spamming him with the rockets, dodge the lighning attacks and hover over the quake attack. It's simple as that!
  • I'm going through my first playthrough evil and saving Hard for my good run like the guide suggested, but...I think I'm starting to regret it. Can someone please explain the rationale behind why it's better to be good during the Hard run? I can only think of ways it'd be more difficult... Like, just off the top of my head, Bio-Leeching people works against your good karma, and I suspect you'd have greater need of it on Hard. Are there parts of the game that are just totally different and easier when you're good or what?
  • I acually accidently got this trophy on my first playthrough. No wonder ait was some what difficult.
  • I had a relative medium battle againts Kesler using the full Arc Lightning evil power. Basically spamming the attack and recharging
  • I actually didn't find Kesler very difficult, static thrust over his quake, dodge his Shockwave, dodge his Lightning, kill any other minions he spawns. He will shoot his Lightning Beam 3 times, and then crouches down sapped of energy, this is a great time to light him up. I just used lightning the whole time on him, no special abilities, it was easier that way.
  • Funny, it's the only gold trophy this game has. Found Rockhound way harder.
  • Too Easy , last Boss Kissler in Hard One of the Easers Bosses Ever xD
  • Okay trophy. Challenging enough and rewarding. Still rockhound to go.. Bleh.
  • how do i change the dificulty
  • Say I changed the difficulty to hard on a different play through, and then started a new game, would it still count?
  • I started my good playthrough and before i took a single step i changed the difficulty to hard and it has stayed that way ever since. i beat kessler and got the good finish trophy but i didnt get the hard finish....anyone else have this problem?
  • I started the game off on Hard from the very beginning and never looked back. That being said today was the first time I beat the game (on my Good Karma Play-through) and I will be the first to say that Kessler probably seems like the hardest boss EVER at first, I know he did for me. I must have died 30 times and about ready to break my entire entertainment system. I think we all thought this was going to be like Sasha or Alden, but he is a whole other beast. That being said once you get used to him, it's all about your own tactics and what you are comfortable with. Personally I rolled every time he would come close to me and try and use shockwave and spam him with grenades and then he would go to the laser thing and spam him with grenades, etc... (I don't think I used anything else ;p)
  • I had a 2nd part reply to your comment RepearSM69 but I guess it didn't appear. I have never heard of that Glitch ever. Having beaten it today/this afternoon, I know Hard Finish was either the second trophy I got or the 3rd. (First was Good Finish, then I believe Hard Finish and then Urban Designer). There definitely was some lag time between the trophies at least 30-45 seconds between each one, so maybe you didn't wait? (Though I doubt that this is the case). Honestly that is a screwed up glitch.
  • I don't know if is more hard in the good playthrough or the evil one :S
  • Fuck this, it didn't unlock and the first thing I did when I started the game was change the horizontal view options and the difficulty-.-
  • This trophy is easy until, kessler comes in as the last boss but, that was the only hard part that's very annoying.
  • Kessler took about 40 mins on my Evil playthrough. I found Arc Lightning worked best for me - I used it to clear the ghosts and drones, and it sometimes branched to Kessler. Most of the time I was dodging the blasts and lasers and static thrusting over the quakes. Be ready for the button mash at the end - it seems harder than the Sasha fight, and I failed first time. Annoying fight - glad it's done.
  • Reading here and on other sites, it looks like there might be a glitch with the hard trophy. Some people have reported that, after starting a new game and changing the difficulty to hard, the trophy didn't pop at the end. This sucks if true - the easiest and laziest way to code the trophy would be to lock it if the difficulty is changed at all. The best method seems to be to start a new game on normal (or easy) and let the game auto-change it for you in the first few missions.
  • Did not unlock for me i switched to hard at the first moment i could move.
  • I didn't change difficulty until I was on Zeke's Rooftop but I still got trophy.
  • When is it too late to change the difficulty?
  • I changed the difficulty to hard right at the beginning, I just beat Kessler and the trophy did not unlock!
  • The first time I ever played inFamous it came up and changed the difficulty when I was going back into the Neon under the bridge after meeting Moya. Boyfriend got real pissed off cause it didn't do it to him :) After reading about people having issues, and deciding that two play throughs is plenty enough for me :P >New Game... >Change difficulty to Hard... >New Game(no need to save) The game automatically sets the difficulty at whatever it was in the previous game, so I'll let you know if I get it :)
  • On 1st play through I played good karma on easy. Once I beat the game I started a new game. The 1st moment I could (helicopter telling me to look up) I changed difficulty on hard and plate evil Karma all the way throught. I got the hard finish trophy just fine.
  • I started the game on hard and its the first time i played this game (got the collection). The game itself wasnt that hard i used the rooftops a lot so i wouldnt be completely shot down in the streets but kessler is a pain, still trying.
  • Not sure why everyone said the the last boss was difficult. I have only died twice and all you need to do is spam the Whatever hammer at him once he rests and that's about it.
  • what a pussies 8) this was easy as shit.
  • @hung00xx you must be really big in your pants ... if its so easy why not helping with some hints. for me the most helpful thing was to hover above the groundshockwave (the thing he does after the speed zickzack and the "forcepush") somehow i havent done this until i saw a video - i only jumped and got hit half the time ... than just hammer away the normal lighning and after kessler does his 4times lighning use mwhammer just like so many times adviced above...
  • @Quidac its not hard at all, once you learn how learn his attacks and how to evade them! might take few tries at first, but once you learn them you can beat him no time.
  • i meant once you learn his attacks
  • I'm also not sure why the guide says to do this on a Good playthough. I'm about 2/3 done with my Hard run, being Evil, and the Evil powers are a lot stronger then the Good ones. Why do this on Good?
  • Huh, just beat Kessler on Hard, and I only died twice. I think since I died a lot more then that on Normal at this fight, that I learned all his attacks and they were easy enough to dodge.
  • So I was kinda worried about Kessler on hard since several people seem to have had an issue with him, but he was such a push over. Died three times and not because of it being hard, but because of not paying attention to his dumb grenades and rolling right into them SO LAME. Other than that really enjoyed the fight and the key to beating him is just patience and learning how he attacks and moves. It's really simple after that.
  • I think this trophy was easy kessler wasn't hard just learn his attack and have patience and you be all fine! xD
  • On the good playthrough there is a way to deal insane damage to Kessler, but it's half skill half luck. If you fully upgrade the Megawatt Hammer with good karma, you can redirect rockets. With that, shoot like 3 rockets in the air and shoot Kessler with regular bolts and they'll chase after him, even if he warps lol. With this, I didn't die at all on my hard playthrough and it took like 5 min only.
  • I found this trophy to be quite easy. If you watched and learned the lass bosses attacks then you could beat him easily. I recommend using a fully upgraded hammer if your having difficulties.
  • Just went back and got the hard and evil trophies. Must say it was 10x easier than my normal play through, because of the evil powers. For those concerned about when to change it to hard, I forgot about the difficulty until the part where you climb up the sculpture thing and drop the supply crate to the people. I changed the difficulty right before getting to the crate and got the trophy. So pretty late. The crazy prison mission was the most difficult part of the whole game and those that talked about upgrading the megawatt hammer were absolutely right. You farm XP and then pound everything with megawatt hammer. Worked like a charm. Kessler seemed tough at first. Forgot all his patterns and kept dying within seconds each time. Eventually learned to be patient, focused on dodging,
  • (cont.) focused on dodging, and only attacked after his 3 laser blasts. Only recharged myself after his 3 laser blasts, too. Otherwise, focused on dodging and took my time. I never worried about taking out his decoy Kesslers, just ran from them and kept my eye on the real Kessler. They eventually disappear. The flying bots were annoying so if I had a spare second, I'd pick them off until there was one or two left and just always keep my distance from them. Definitely easier than my first time through.
  • done kessler was a fucking bitch to beat though
  • Easiest way to beat Kessler, Polarity Wall. ( yup the free shield you were given ;) ) Once he sets up to bolt you, activate the polarity wall, and just make sure its in front of you until he kneels. Then blast him. It gets trickier in stage 2 and 3, because of the other distractions he throws at you, but same principle. Shield, then blast. If you get his spectres and grenade droids quickly, this fight is a cakewalk using the shield. :)
  • Kessler was super easy once I figured out I could jump over his earthquake attack that basically kills you in one hit... Glad to have this done finally.
  • Kessler was challenging but not that hard. Don't be greedy when you fight him and try to keep your health up at all times rather than trying to get a few extra hits on him.
  • Just beat it right now. Kessler was easy. Took me 3 attempts (on Evil Hard playthrough). His most intense attack is the one where he comes dashing quick to you and shoots a blast wave. That'll hurt. Best way to take him on is die a few times by learning his moves. I learned his moves really quick within a few times of studying his movements. I upgrade my Megawatt to level 2, main blast to level 3, and reduce damage to level 3 as well. Didn't really need any shock grenades or anything else. Just those 3 tbh. When he does his main build-up surge blast attack, he'll shoot it about 3 times and then rest. I would blast him with Megawatt maybe 3 times and fire at him. Always dodge his hits and make sure you play it smart by being around a charging rod on the ground. Other than that, the only oth
  • Always dodge his hits and make sure you play it smart by being around a charging rod on the ground. Other than that, the only other tricky part would be when he brings in those flowing grenade drones; I hated those so I would blast em quick while keeping an eye on Kessler. You'll get it down quick. Also for those who didn't get the Hard Trophy: I thought mine wouldn't pop either. I waited till the end of the credits and listening to Cole speak. Once that scene ended the game told me I beat inFamous and blah blah blah. Then my Evil Trophy popped up and then the Hard difficult Trophy popped up. Good luck to you all! Now to finish the Shards and Drops and Platinum is mine!
  • Oh and also for those wondering: I changed my difficulty the moment I started the game once I had full control of Cole (after the whole move your controller up and left bit). Hard Trophy popped up after watching the end scene after the end credits. Noting for documentation purposes and for future people going for the Platinum. Good luck!
  • For those who bother scrolling this far, I did this only evil/hard playthrough. To beat Kessler I just Arc Lightninged his ass into next week. That is what really saved my ass in the final boss fight, making me only have to fight him around 10 times or so.
