While the vast majority of Hogwarts Legacy’s Conjuration Spellcraft Collection Chests are dotted about in various hamlets and throughout Hogwarts itself, there are a handful of the them - 14 to be precise - that are tied to the game’s Butterflies.
Butterfly chests in Hogwarts Legacy are a small open-world activity, where the player must follow a group of them to reveal a hidden open-world collection chest. They are first introduced to the player in the side quest, “Follow the Butterflies,” that is given by Clementine Willardsey, who’s at the Three Broomsticks in Hogsmeade. In that quest players will not only earn a Conjuration Spellcraft Collection Chest for following the butterflies, but they’ll also earn another one for completing the quest.
“Follow the butterflies,” incidentally, is a nod to Ron’s line from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.
Outside of the “Follow the Butterflies side quest, there are 14 butterflies to follow around the Highlands, and 14 Conjuration Spellcrafts to add to your Collection - these are essential if you want to complete the Collection and get the Collector’s Edition trophy.
Unlike a lot of open-world activities, the butterflies don’t show on the mini-map or main map until you’re close-by, and will remove themselves from both when you move far enough away. That’s why we’ve created 14 handy maps below so you won’t miss one.
