Introduction:

Hoggy 2 is a cute and colourful puzzle game developed by Raptisoft and ported to PS4 and Vita by Ratalaika Games. You play a ball of slime on a mission to rescue his family. The puzzles are interesting enough and, for the most part, will pose no trouble. Levels in the game come in the form of pots that you must enter, once inside a pot you must collect all fruit pieces in order to be rewarded with a key. As you progress through the game you require keys to unlock gates to continue. The game boasts over 200 levels, however it is possible to platinum the game with only 40 levels being completed. This is a quick and easy platinum, with PS4/Vita crossbuy and 6 stacks across EU, NA and Asia versions.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Start a Kid Game, Complete 20 Levels and Beat the Final Boss

A Kid Game is a watered down, much easier, version of the main game. The puzzles are very simply and the enemies do not pose much challenge. It is possible to unlock the final boss and complete Kid mode after completing 16 levels, however you are required to complete 20 levels for Playing the safe way!. If you do happen to complete Kid mode before finishing all 20 levels, don't panic, you can reload you game and go back and finish any levels you missed, because nothing is missable in this game.

It should be noted that the trophy requirement for Getting Stronger! states that this must be done in Normal mode, however, this can be unlocked in Kid mode. See Getting Stronger! for more details on this.

By the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

Playing the safe way!
It's time to grow up!

Step 2: Complete 20 Levels in Normal Mode and Beat The First Boss.

Normal mode has a little more detail than kid mode, the puzzles take a little more thought and more powerups are introduced. The first boss is unlocked after completing 20 levels which is a similar battle to Kid mode, just slightly more difficult.

A video walkthrough showing all puzzle solutions can be found in the Getting Stronger! walkthrough.

By the end of this step you will have unlocked the following trophies:

Teach him a lesson!
Starry Starry Night
The key to success!
The Housekeeper!
Master of Keys!
Try again!
Burning all!
Saving Progress!
Getting Stronger!

12 trophies ( 11  )

  • Get all other trophies.

You know what to do, unlock all other trophies for this shiny Platinum.

  • Get 20 keys in Kid Mode.

Each pot is a level, to complete a level you must collect all fruit to be rewarded with a key. Kid mode has a total of 20 levels, you must complete all of them for this trophy. It is possible to unlock the final boss after completing 16 levels and once you beat the final boss Kid mode is completed. If you do happen to beat the boss before completing all 20 levels don't panic, the game continues after beating the boss which will allow you to go back and finish any levels you missed.

  • Complete Kid Mode.

The final boss of Kid mode is unlocked after completing 16 levels. It's a pretty easy fight as far as boss battles go, eat the acorns then hit the red buttons on the undercarriage of the boss.

For more info on acorns see Getting Stronger!

  • Defeat the 1st Moon Man in Normal Mode.

The first boss in Normal mode is unlocked after completing 20 levels and it is similar to the boss fight in Kid mode, just a few extra steps. The first phase you simply have to eat the acorns then hit the red button on the undercarriage of the boss, after hitting him twice the second room will unlock. To pass through the second room, which is full of explosives, you must ride the bricks that are now on the undercarriage of the boss, be sure to jump clear when you reach the other side. The third phase is simply eating the acorns again and hitting, first the bricks, then the red button on the undercarriage of the boss. Be sure to watch out for the glass bricks which you will fall through and be squished on the spikes.

  • Grab a bonus star out of any level in Normal Mode.

The first bonus star you will come across is in pot #69, it is the small pot on the roof next to the gate that requires 45 keys to open. To get this star you must lure the saw enemy into position to break the brick in the top left of the screen. A point to note when it comes to collecting stars, you must collect the star then complete the level for the trophy to unlock. If you happen to collect the star then die, when you restart the level again the star is already collected and all you have to do is collect all the fruit to complete the level and unlock the trophy for collecting the star. This is actually an easy way to do it than try to collect the star and complete the level all in one go as it can be a bit tricky to get out of the top left corner after collecting the star without the saw killing you.

  • Get 5 keys in Normal Mode.

You are rewarded with a key for eating all fruit in a level. Complete 5 levels in Normal mode to collect 5 keys and unlock this trophy.

  • Get 10 keys in Normal Mode.

You are rewarded with a key for eating all fruit in a level. Complete 10 levels in Normal mode to collect 10 keys and unlock this trophy.

  • Get 20 keys in Normal Mode.

Complete 20 levels to unlock this trophy, noting that only 20 levels/keys are required to unlock the first boss so not all levels you encounter in Normal mode need to be completed.

  • Be smushed.

Being smushed means being killed in this game. This can be done by touching a spike or an enemy while in your basic blob form. When you first encounter either of these just let yourself be smushed to unlock this trophy.

  • Eat a jalapeno in Normal Mode.

When you eat a jalapeno you turn into a blob of fire and are invincible, giving you the ability to destroy enemies and explosive blocks by touching them. The first jalapeno you will encounter is in pot #21, it is the first of 2 pots on the roof after passing the gate that requires 12 keys to unlock. As soon as you eat it the trophy will unlock. Point to note, you can not eat fruit while you are on fire, you will actually destroy the fruit if you try, meaning you can not finish the level. To put your self out you need to pass through water from a dripping tap before you collect fruit.

  • Reach a checkpoint in Normal Mode.

Some levels are slightly longer than others and will have a flag pole in them denoting a checkpoint. If you die after passing a checkpoint, when you restart the level you will commence from the checkpoint. The first checkpoint you will encounter is in pot #9, which is the pot directly to the left of the gate that requires 10 keys to unlock. Once you pass the checkpoint the trophy will unlock.

  • Eat an acorn in Normal Mode.

This trophy description is incorrect, because it can be unlocked in Kid mode and is unmissable since you have to eat an acorn to progress through some levels. When you eat an acorn you will turn into a square block with the ability to kill enemies or destroy brick blocks, this has a one time use per acorn. The first acorn you will encounter is during your Kid mode playthrough, level 4. As soon as you eat the acorn the trophy will unlock.
