Introduction:
Heroes Over Europe is an arcade-style flight sim set during World War II. It is the successor to Heroes of the Pacific from last generation consoles, and similar to this generation’s Blazing Angels.
The story follows three pilots through four different campaigns. The story skips around between the campaigns, and missions unlock in a certain order, so you can’t play straight through each one separately during your first playthrough.
All of the plane unlocks and campaign difficulty trophies stack, so you can start the game on Ace if you want, but it is highly recommended that you play through the story on Pilot first. You’re also able to select the difficulty on a mission-by-mission basis.
Note: When playing through the campaigns make sure you don’t quit mid-mission. While the game does have checkpoints, your progress is NOT saved should you quit.
Step 1: Complete the campaigns on Pilot difficulty
Play through the campaigns on the Pilot (Normal) difficulty. This is your introductory playthrough, it’s all about becoming familiar with the controls and the individual missions. Most of the campaign trophies are either story-related or are ones you will unlock naturally by playing through the game. However, you may want to focus on Big Game Hunter during this playthrough, so you don't have to worry about it later. Also, be sure to complete the bonus objectives, you will absolutely have to complete these on Ace difficulty for Collector, and completing the bonus objectives on Pilot will give you more planes from which to choose on Ace.
Step 2: Complete the campaigns on Ace difficulty
Play through the campaigns on the Ace (Hard) difficulty. Now that you’ve completed the game on Pilot, you can play the missions in any order you like. This time you MUST complete the bonus objectives to avoid replaying the mission again. See Collector.
I suggest that you start this playthrough with the USAAF 352 FG Campaign for several reasons. First of all, since this campaign contains three of the last five missions in the game, they should be relatively fresh in your mind. Secondly, completing these missions with their bonus objectives is the most challenging aspect of the game; if you can do this, it’s almost all downhill from here. Lastly, the Me-262 A-2 Ace that you get for beating The Black Heart on Ace with the bonus objective complete is a very good plane to use on several of the other missions.
Step 3: Multiplayer [Servers closed - Plat no longer obtainable]
Ubisoft shutdown the Heroes Over Europe servers without notice some time during Spring 2013. If you haven't gotten Super Ace & Ultimate Ace already, then the Heroes Over Europe platinum trophy is completely unobtainable.
The other multiplayer trophies are believed to be obtainable via LAN, so technically, they're still considered possible. However, several trophies are practically impossible because you will need a network of 5 PS3's for the following: Spectator, Fighter Ace, Support Chief, & The Oskar.
Red Baron should only require 2 PS3's, and Specialist can be earned solo via LAN.
Step 4: Clean Up
There shouldn’t be too much to do here. Hopefully, you completed all the bonus mission objectives during Step 2. If not, replay those missions on Ace. When that’s done, go back and get any stat-related or kill-related trophies you may have missed.
