Grand Ages: Medieval is a strategy game in which you start as a sort of a major (which in Rank you are not, later more on that) of a town, you can establish new towns, trade with other towns or take them over by diplomatic means or brute force. The game has many menus and options and is brought to you by Calypso (the people behind Tropico 5). The game however is not very difficult once you get the hang of it. You need at least the complete the campaign and one online game. Theoretically you could do all left over trophies after the campaign in your online sandbox game but to safe yourself and your online play partner some frustrations I suggest doing it offline in a private sandbox game. All this leaves a minimum of 1 campaign playthrough, 1 online game and 1 offline sandbox game.

I needed 2 offline sandbox games due to a glitch which I will explain more about in the Guides for the Multinational, Aggressor and Go to Hell trophies. Also the servers weren't working before but the problem was fixed with the 1.0.2 patch that was released in early November 2015.

I would like to give a quick thanks to ClarkZuckerberg for the custom images!

As the game is this wide and fairly complex, I suggest to start with the campaign then play online if you have a partner (ask in the Boosting Thread) and finish with the sandbox game(s).

Step 1: Campaign
Just play the Campaign, enjoy the game and try to get a hang of all the options and menus. During this step you will get all three secret trophies and some extras, the list below is a suggested order so it doesn't matter if you miss some because none are missable and can be collected during your clean-up playthrough:

Got Laid
Barnas Goes Nuts
Hurrah! Hurrah!
Founder
Builder
Investor
White Knight
Locust
A diplomat!
Settlement Camp
Let them eat cake
Middle Class
Group
Lull
Boy Scout
Tracker
Party Hero
Aggressor
Supermarket
Thrift Store
Wholesaler
For a Rainy Day
Nursery
Veterans' Day
Big Game Hunter
To arms

Step 2: Online
Find a game online or ask another player to boost with you, see the boosting thread. Note that a "short" 1 hour game will likely not be enough to complete everything. We played two games (as both of us had to win one) and did all trading/building in one game and all attacks in the other. After your online game you should have:

Being there is everything
Victory across the front
You dealin', man!
Victory!
All mine!

Step 3: Cleanup
Now play sandbox games until you have your list complete and you can play as many as you wish. To finish, you will need all other trophies:

Creator
The architect!
Hostile Takeover
Large City
Megacity
Cosmopolitan City
Multinational
Producer
Traffic Chaos
Tax Evasion
Military State
Banditnapper
Customs House
Embargo
Big Brother
Go to Hell
Knights of the Round Table
Set sail
Veni, vidi, vici!

51 trophies ( 10  38  3  )

  • All trophies received

Simple, get all the other trophies.

  • 4 towns founded

    See Creator.

  • 8 towns founded

    See Creator.

  • 12 towns founded

As a player you can found new towns via settlers. Settlers can be built/recruited in the inn then be commanded to roam freely over your empire and when you find a suitable location, you can select the castle icon and a new town is founded. Note you need a builder to connect your new city with a road to provide it with building material. You can get this trophy during the campaign or a sandbox game on and or offline. During the campaign you will build some new towns, I personally didn't make it to 12 during the campaign but did during my sandbox game.

  • 2 towns taken over

    See Locust.

  • 4 towns taken over

    See Locust.

  • 6 towns taken over

You can take over town by either diplomatic or military. Once you take over 6 towns in total then you'll get this trophy. You'll probably get this during the campaign if you missed it you can do it during your sandbox game. This trophy can be combined with the A diplomat! and/or Hostile Takeover trophies so see them for more details.

  • Out of all your competitors, you founded the most towns upon reaching the rank of "Emperor".

During your play (both campaign and on & offline sandbox) you gain ranks/titles, Emperor is your last and final title. Your goal is to have founded most towns by the time you reach that rank. This trophy is best done during your sandbox game. When you press the button, you can see who has the most businesses in the current game so make sure you're at the top by the time you're King. The trophy will pop when you hit Emperor.

  • 5 towns taken over by diplomatic means

To take over a town by diplomatic means you need to be friendly. Have a trading route with the town (make sure you have a trading agreement, see "Deal!" for more info. Whilst you trade, you can see the liking of the people go up (you need 95+) but if you manually trade you can specifically trade what the town needs to make the liking go up quicker though with routes it will go slow and steady as well. Next to the inhabitants you also need the "owner" to like you. Give him or her gold or goods in trade for sympathy will go quickest. When you have love from the inhabitants 95+ and liking from the town owner 80+ you can trade for the town (still give him a good offer or he will refuse your offer). Once he/she accepts you get the town. Do this 5 times in one game and the trophy will pop.

  • 5 towns taken over by military means

Once you built a barrack you can recruit an army. You can use your army to take over other towns (either from competitors or A.I). To take over a town you need to be at war with them, you can declare war in the Diplomacy tab.

  • A town has reached 3,000 inhabitants

    See Megacity.

  • A town has reached 8,000 inhabitants

    See Megacity.

  • A town has reached 15,000 inhabitants

You can see your inhabitants on your town menu, to gain more inhabitants you need to build more businesses. A church (or mosque) will allow you more inhabitants (without a church max 1,500 with 3,000), upgrading your church to cathedral will allow you unlimited inhabitants. You need to upgrade your church to get to 15,000 and to do that, go into the Infrastructure tab and spend your development points.

  • Out of all your competitors, you had the largest town or city upon reaching the rank of "Emperor".

When you press the button, you can see who has the most businesses in the current game so make sure you're at the top by the time you're King. The trophy will pop when you hit Emperor. This should should be combined with Producer, Multinational and/or Megacity.

  • One of your towns or cities has achieved the maximum level of prosperity.

When in a town you can see how much prosperity that town has and if it goes up or down. 100 is max, to gain prosperity make sure there is work, enough but not too much, there is good and trade. Churches can help you boost your prosperity by holding festivals, see the Party Hero trophy for more info. Armies do not boost your prosperity what so ever as they take your gold and food. try to keep them away from the city your trying to get this trophy with. I got this trophy during the campaign, don't worry about it too much it will come.

  • You have built 50 businesses.

    See Multinational.

  • You have built 200 businesses.

    See Multinational.

  • You have built 500 businesses.

In a town you can select up to 5 products for which you can create businesses but for each of these products you can create multiple businesses. Note that all your businesses need workers and you might have a maximum allowed number of inhabitants if you do not have a church. I don't know what the maximum is per city but I couldn't get any city above 150 businesses, which means you'll need multiple towns to hit this trophy. This trophy should be combined with Producer, Multinational and/or Megacity.

  • Out of all your competitors, you built the most businesses upon reaching the rank of "Emperor".

    (2)

    GLITCHED

This glitched on me in my first sandbox game, I did have the biggest town and the most businesses but only the Cosmopolitan City trophy popped for me, though it did pop during my second game. I'm not sure why it glitched.

By the time you reach the rank emperor you'll need to be the one with the most businesses. When you press the button, you can see who has the most businesses in the current game so make sure you're at the top by the time you're King. The trophy will pop when you hit Emperor.

  • Lull

You have built 1,000 km of roads.

    See Traffic Chaos.

  • You have built 10,000 km of roads.

To build a road you need a builder (can be recruited in the inn). A builder can build a road by connecting two towns together. If the town you try to connect to is not yours you need a transit agreement before you can connect your road to that specific town. You can't see how many Kilometres of roads you've already built but 10,000 is quite far, I did not get it during my campaign nor during my first sandbox so I made an effort getting it. If you go for the Creator trophy you will get a lot of roads by connecting them all together one way or another. Roads are inexpensive so build to your heart's content. Upgrading roads count as extra Kilometres, credit to stuart1044 for confirming this.

  • You have discovered 10 Adventure Sites.

    See Tracker.

  • You have discovered 50 Adventure Sites.

You will encounter Adventure Sites when exploring and will show as yellow circles on your map. Your military units can interact with these sites and can possibly:

    • Give you a treasure (gold or goods)
    • Be protected by bandits or animals and after killing them you may still get your treasure.
    • Resupply your army.
    • Boost your armies experience.
    • Show a city on the map.

Interact with 50 sites to get the trophy, I got this during the campaign but it can be done in any game mode. This does not stack so interact with 50 Adventure Sites during 1 game.

  • You have celebrated your first festival.

Festivals can be held in your church. There are different sizes of festivals, they have different costs and outcomes, trigger any of them and the trophy will pop.

  • You have entered into your first trade agreement.

You will get this during your campaign as you'll have to do it during the tutorial, this is likely to be the first trophy you will get. When a town in sight of your scout (or other military unit) you can select it. Go to the diplomacy tab where you can negotiate some diplomacy. Select some gold on your end and an alliance agreement -> Trading agreement on the city's end, if it's accepted then the trophy will pop.

  • You have declared war.

    GLITCHED

You have to declare war during the campaign but the trophy didn't pop for me, though it did in sandbox mode later on when I went for the Go to Hell trophy. To declare war you need to select a town you want to declare war to, go the diplomacy tab and declare war. if you can't you first need to downgrade your alliance with this play as much as possible till the "declare war" option is available. It is unconfirmed if declaring war to an NPC (gray player) works but declaring war on a competitor (coloured player/NPC) does work!

  • You have unlocked all commodities.

Some commodities are locked at the beginning of your game but you can unlock them by spending development points into the Production tab. When all are unlocked then the trophy will pop, this will happen during the campaign you don't have to set your priority on it but it's good for trade and money.

  • You have traded 10,000 barrels of commodities.

    See Wholesaler.

  • You have traded 1,000,000 barrels of commodities.

Trade a total of 1,000,000 goods with anyone (including between your own cities). I got this during my campaign so don't worry about it but you'll get this for sure when going for the Tax Evasion trophy.

  • You have amassed 5,000,000 gold.

    See Tax Evasion.

  • You have amassed 50,000,000 gold.

The best way to gain gold is trading, have some proper trading routes set up and money will be coming in on its own. 50 million is a lot and it will take a while, when you spend money on items (businesses, armies etc.) it does not count. You can get this trophy after becoming emperor by just letting your game run. Having armies around is expensive so a tip is to "fire" your armies (while in town returning them to free workers) if you don't need them anymore to save a lot of money. Once you have 50,000,000 then the trophy will pop, this is also a good moment to go for Military State.

  • You have unlocked an entire tree in the development diagram.

Simply spend development points in every upgrade possible in one of the development tabs. You'll get this during your campaign don't worry about it.

  • You have maximized the experience of a military troop.

While fighting and exploring, your troops get experience and once one hits 100 then the trophy will pop. This will very likely happen during the campaign but if not, then you'll get it whilst going for the Go to Hell trophy.

  • You have recruited 100 troops in the game.

Simply recruit 100 troops during 1 game (either campaign or sandbox when on or offline) remember troops are expensive and 100 is a lot. Hire 100 troops after you get the Tax Evasion trophy or try when going for the Go to Hell trophy.

  • You have destroyed 5 bandit camps.

Bandit camps are the small wooden structures you will find randomly throughout the game and are protected by bandits, to destroy them might take quite some force. To find them you need the naked eye as they don't pop-up on the map. You'll know one is close when your carts start to be attacked by bandits, look around there. Some people state that bandit camps are hard to find and suggest to use a sandbox game with the full world to be sure you'll find 5. I used the "middle" map which is small and found 5 without much issues. Also I've got a feeling there are more bandit camps in multiplayer but I can't confirm this. Simply find and destroy 5 bandit camps randomly in the world and the trophy will pop.

  • You have slain 5 predators.

Your armies need to slay 5 predators (animals), this will likely happen naturally but If not then find a cave and attack it. Predators will come out of the cave to defend it. 5 is easy but have to be done during one game (in one sandbox or campaign).

  • You have plundered 10 traders.

    See Embargo.

  • You have plundered 50 traders.

When you're at war with a player (or A.I) your troops automatically plunder that players trading cards when passing by. The best thing to do is to deploy your troops along a busy trading route during a war then this trophy will pop once you have plundered 50 carts. This is easily combined with the Go to Hell trophy during a sandbox game.

  • You have built 10 defense towers.

Just build 10 defense towers in 1 game. To build a tower you need to have spent a development point in the Infrastructure tab to get access to the tower options, then have a builder build 10 towers. The resources for building a tower are taken from the closest city to where the tower is being built so make sure that city has enough.

  • You have eliminated a competitor.

    GLITCHED

This trophy glitched on me during the campaign as I killed a coloured NPC but it didn't pop, it might be because did it after completing the campaign.

For this trophy you need to kill every soldier and take over all towns of another player (either human or NPC). Make sure you eliminated a coloured NPC and not a gray one because gray NPCs are not competitors and thus do not count. I got this during a sandbox game but killing the NPC next to me, took over all towns and killed all of her military power then the trophy popped.

  • Finished first multiplayer game

Just finish a game online with another player and you don't even have to win it. You can use the Boosting Thread to find other players to play with: LINK

  • Won first multiplayer game

Win an online game, either by completing the pre-set objective or by having the most points after the time set has expired for your online game. The easiest way to do it is to set your game goal to rank up 1 level (until Merchant) then have your opponent do nothing for the 10 minutes it takes. Having a trade route and building a second town should get you enough points to level up once.

  • Handed goods over to a fellow player

For this you need to send a scout to a fellow player so you can open the Diplomacy tab and from there, select goods for your side of the trade and "sympathy" for his side. Once your friend accepts the trade, then the trophy will pop.

  • Snuffed out a fellow player's troop

Have another player recruit mercenaries and send them to you, then kill them with your own army.

  • Took over a fellow player's town

    This is a multiplayer trophy.
    (Online Multiplayer)

There two options for this trophy.

1.Have a player build a new town in between the two players then declare war and take it over. What most people do is let it be taken over so the original player has his town back and also gets the trophy. See Hostile Takeover on details on how to take over a town by militairy means

    2. Give your town to your friend/the other human player via diplomatic means will give you the trophy as well, you'll need a bit more communication for this. See A diplomat! for details on how this works

  • Recruited a troop of knights

Knights can be recruited in France after you send a point into knights in the military tab of the development tree and upgraded your barracks, simply recruit a troop of knights and the trophy will pop.

  • You have 50 units of military troops under your command

    See Military State.

  • You have built your first ship

To build a ship you need a shipyard/dock and to gain access to a dock, you need to spend a development point on it in the military tab. If you spend the development point on the shipyard/dock update then you can upgrade your barracks if your city is connected to water/sea. After the barracks update you can build a ship. This sounds harder that it is but it's 1 development point and a city connected to the water, plus you can do this after you become Emperor as you can continue playing.
