Bleeding Thumbs Trophy in God of War II

Beat the Challenge of the Titans

    How to unlock Bleeding Thumbs

Here is the hardest Trophy in the game to get. Unlike God of War, you don’t have to do all 7 Challenges in a single sitting. It is advised that you power up and use the Blade of Olympus for these Challenges, as well as all weapons. The best way to illustrate how to do these Challenges is through youtube videos of random strangers destroying them.
    Challenge #1
Rip out the eye of the Cyclops before time runs out
I did this by using Chronos’ Rage 3-4 times then using the Blade of Olympus once or twice for the mini-game to pop up. I personally did it in 17 seconds.
    Challenge #2
Kill at least 10 enemies in the air before time runs out
I recommend using the Athena Blades here so you can hold to vault them into the air, then use that time to kill them before they hit the ground.
    Challenge #3
Stone Shatter at least 25 enemies before time runs out
I recommend trying to grab a Medusa because it will immediately attack you. Then you just have to press and whatever button pops up on screen quickly. That way all or most enemies on screen will be in stone, ready for an easy kill which counts towards your total here. Make sure that when you get to 25, you survive until the end of the round. Otherwise you'll have to start over.
    Challenge #4
Defend the Translator from being killed. The translator’s health with drain outside of the ring.
This one will cause the most trouble for most people. Save your Rage of the Titans for the end to protect from the onslaught of Satyr’s and Cyclops. You also have to drag the Translator around to prevent him from dying. Make sure you slow down time then carry him to the next circle.
    Challenge #5
    Collect 500 Red Orbs.
This is really simple. Stone Shatter the harpies and just take down the other enemies. You should have this in no time.
    Challenge #6
Kill all the enemies before your Health runs out
This one is a little difficult, but nothing too daunting. Remember that on the Minotaurs by initiating the mini-game you will gain health back by doing each one successfully and using Rage of the Titans stops your health from draining.

  • For challenge 2, I recommend using "Icarus Lift" (L1 + X) to hoist enemies in the air. I had a lot of trouble with this challenge until I started using that.
  • For Challenge 5, the easiest way is to do Divine Sacrifice (L1+O)with the Blade of Olympus. You can get the bonus in less then 30 seconds this way.
  • I can't get past challenge 4 :( This is the only trophy missing so I can get platinum.
  • Finally got past challenge 4 and then took care of the rest of it with ease. Except the last challenge took a few tries. PLATINUM!
  • Tip for 4 Spam Time stop. And Challange 6 i would suggest you are calm for it. It's actually prity fun.
  • Challenge #7: Hate it!
  • everyone has high red orbs in challenge of the titans i do have only 6k how did you collect them
  • Just completed them. Challenges 4 was the only one that I had any trouble with took about 2 hours before I managed to completely it. That Gorgon Rage or whatever (L2 + hold O) was a real life saver in the second half of the challenge.
  • definatly the hardest trophy in this game
  • Why do the makers of these games have to make some of the trophies freakin impossible, #4 is making me lose my mind, it's ridiculous...
  • Challenge 6 is impossible, simple as that.
  • screw 6, how did you get past 4? lol
  • Challenge 7 you should just use magic, it makes your combos really high and the challenge is much easier. Titan rank is really easy this way.
  • Challenge 4 was pretty simple once I figured out what to do. Just slow time, and use a combination of lightning and the Blade of Olympus' level 3 energy blasts.
  • yeah anyone stuck on challenge fun just spam slowing down time (L1+R1) its really easy that way. Im stuck on 7 :(
  • wahoo just done it, anyone stuck heres my tips 1. For the skeletons use your blade of Olympus exclusively, do any circle prompt and keep to the edge to avoid waking up the titan minotaur 2. when the skeletons are dead switch to chronos' rage and just spam targeting the priest first and foremost to keep the flow of magic going. Make sure you have woken up the minotaur at this point so he gets damaged by the chronos rage as well. (watch out for him throwing boulders at you) 3. when you kill everything else use the rest of your magic on the minotaur and then if necessary bob in and out giving it the last few hits it needs to killed. thats how i did it anyway. oh and this way ensured a cyclops didnt appear (for me anyway) like they sometimes did other times.
  • Ouf ! Just got the trophy. The last 2 were the worst. Here's how I managed it. For No6: FULLY UPGRADE YOUR BLADE OF OLYMPUS (if not already done). Realised it was lvl 1 after 20 try. Got it first shot with it upgraded... I spammed square square square and Cronos rage (don't be shy, there's a lot of guys who gives magic). Also, minigame those horned bitches. For No7... Won't be really helpful but after 30 try of doing like in the YT video, I just did this: (with the blade of olympus) I killed/minigamed the skeleton. After I got ''What the Hell'' and I went to wake the minautor and I just Cronos rage emptied my magic bar in his face while dodging (don't take tyour time emptying it !!!). 7 seconds later everybody was dead and the minigame appeared on the rocky bastard. Oh yeah, No4: I m
  • No4: L1+triangling everybody with the Blade fully upgraded !!! Mine wasn't. Cronos rage for satyrs and cyclops... Or when you're stressed.
  • i found the easiest way ever for chalenge 7. take out all but one of the skeletons with L1 + Square leaving one left and use titan mode and jump behind the golem guy and jump up and use L1 Square in the air behind him and just jump out of the way when he spins then do it again and he should be done in about 2 or 3 goes behind him then just take out the imps and the priests with chronos rage once hes gone, its really easy
  • I definitely agree with GIJEZUS (#19) because even though I didn't get the bonus for using magic, I still got a Titan rank. I think God of War 1's Challenge of the Gods was harder, but I'm just glad it's over with lol.
  • Going daft trying to do challenge 7 at the moment.... tried pretty much all the methods mentioned, came close a few times (just the rock minotaur left) then the bastard gets me :( Will get there eventually!
  • Finally Got this trophy... was the last I needed for the Plat. For a long time it was really frustrating me, but I just got it. Challenge 6 and 7 were the worse of them all. However, I found the Blade of Olympus extremely helpful on Challenge 6... as long as you have it fully upgraded. For Challenge 7, I used the Blade of Olympus on the Cursed Remains, killed them all but one. Then I switched back to the normal God Of War blades activated Rage of the Titans and went after the Minotaur, hid behind him and just keep mashing the Triangle attack. When the Minotaur was about to do his spinning attack I dodged out of the way quick and then went behind him again. Before you Know it I had the O prompt and killed the minotaur. Then I killed the last Cursed Remains. After that for the other en
  • (Cont.) After that for the other enemies I kept my distance, and used magic... the electric one lol (Can't remember what it's called) as well as once in a while used the Triangle attack with the normal God of War Blades. Before you know it... I got Challenge complete! Then PLATINUM TROPHY : ) Hope this helps anyone that is stuck on this Trophy : )
  • This is the most annoying trophy in the game, It took me 3 hours just to get past the second challenge. But, the most annoying challenge is the last one.
  • FInally managed to get past Challenge 7 and didn't give a shit about the bonus. It's true that spamming Cronos Rage as suggested by the above comments will make it easy, but I found out that from our viewpoint while watching the screen, the left side of the damned Minotaur is the best place to spam Cronos Rage, and if the damned Minotaur throws boulders at you, dodge TOWARDS the minotaur and run back out and continue spamming. Before I got the trophy, I got one Priest left, so I just used the O button and slit its throat.
  • Once I realized reading the posts above that I had to upgrade the Blade of Olympus, challenge 6 suddenly became a piece of cake :P Challenge 7 wasn't too bad, just get the skeletons with the Blade and than use the technique described in the trophy guide. At the end I had one of two of the little guys left (the Minotaur was already completely wasted through use of Cronos' Rage, without using the mini-game) which I could easily chop up with the Blade.
  • Ok just wanted to say, best advice I've read here for challenge 6: Keep calm. Once you do, you'll see I'm right. Aside from that, Blade of Olympus and chronos Rage. Don't spam it, simply use it after a combo to keep enemies stunned. Do every Minotaur mini-game. And everytime you time you see those guys that do green magic, kill them before they summon cereberus. I finished tha challenge just now, didn't see a single cerberus, and didn't loose more than 10-15% of my health. Never imagined it would be this easy after I just calmed the fuck down xD
  • And just did Challenge 7. Instead of going to the back of the minotaur right after the skeletons and waking it up, I found it easier to just wipe out every enemy with a spam of Blade of Olympus and Chronos Rage without going near him, cause otherwise he starts throwing boulders, one more thing to worry about. Just wipe every enemy. Then wake up the beast, spam the blade on him, roll back whenever e moves. One of the easier challenges I believe.
  • Which Challenge is the hardest? I'm so far on Challenge #4 and I find it pretty hard, but I can complete it (nothing so impossible). Is there any challenges I should worry about (I heard #7 is hard and #6 is pretty hard and long).
  • I can't get past #2 dammit. I beat all these when the game first came out on PS2. Now I'm trying to find a viable strategy online, and I've never seen gamers disagree so much. I've seen Icarus Wings, heavy attacks with the Spear, traditional launches with Athena's Blades, even saw someone on YouTube get it with the Blade of Olympus. If I knew which strategy was most effective I could just try to get good at that one, but because nobody can agree I end up just going back and forth between them all, never really getting very good at any of them. This is my last trophy, and it will give me my 5th GoW platinum, so I'm kinda antsy to get it out of the way. From what I remember, this challenge and the last one are the ones that give me the most trouble.
  • Just got #2 finally. Killed first few guys with Spear, two sets of triangle attacks did the trick nicely. Used Rage of Titans on the Gorgons to get the circle prompt to pop up as quickly as possible. ALWAYS lift with L1+square, obviously, because the more enemies in the air the better. Guys who look a little smaller than the others start appearing, and they can be killed with one good lift and some heavy attacking in the air (L1+O twice, if you can manage). Aside from that I used the electricity (what, Cronos' Rage or something?) to basically hold most of the enemies a lot of the time. Of course, that led to some accidental kills, but it got the circle prompt to appear just as often. I'm convinced this is a foolproof strategy, you just might have to try it 20 times to get the hang of it. H
  • Shit, that button prompt after you deflect the beam in Challenge 3, doesn't give me enough time to respond, or I get the the square and circle buttons mixed up. If I could use my X360 controller I would ace this challenge no problem. When I do get a streak going, I usually get screwed up blocking when a Cyclops appears on the map right beside me and I'm dead :( The highest stoned kills I can get is 20 before time runs out :(
  • Here's exactly what I did and finished in about 3 minutes.... First defeat skeletons. Then wait for imps and mages to spawn, then? run behind minotaur and activate Rage of the Titans, and slam down nothing but Chronos' Rage while attacking the minotaur. I still had plenty of magic left over to kill the last few enemies which completed the challenge with Titan ranking. Minotaur never attacked me and noone else got close enough due to Chronos Rage. Super easy!
  • Only trophy I need for platinum and since I flat out suck at these games I won't be getting it. Oh well...
  • God damn, the last challenge is harder for me then the forth one!
  • -Upgrade the blade of olympus for the challenges Challenge 2: use the spear L1+/// Challenge 3: don't kill the first medusa, keep her till the end , bec it takes time to spawn another , grab her- counter- shatter the enemies except for her -repeat Challenge 4: spam time freeze, to kill enemies fast Challenge 6: if u've upgraded the blade of olympus to max , u'll have no trouble, it's overpowered Challenge 7: stand to the left (to the stone beast right), he can't hit u, most enemies are out of the view so they can't hit u, spam chronos rage
  • Finished all on the Vita and the trophy didn't pop???
  • Challenge 4 is impossible i've tried lots of times but always the second cyclop wave kills the translator
  • For challenge 4, spam the time freeze and use heavy attacks with the barbarian hammer. I got it on try #2.
  • Seriously, fuck you santa monica studios for these challenges. It's not the difficulty, but the frustration.
  • #39 thanks for the tip, got it on first try
  • I actually had by far the most trouble on Challenges #2 and #7. Not sure why #4 is giving people a harder time, it took me a few attempts but nothing too bad. Just spam the Amulet of Fates, guys. #3 was also hard for me once the big enemies started spawning and obscuring my view of the gorgon. A tip on #7: other enemies won't spawn until the last skeleton is dead, so keep one around while you handle the minotaur.
  • Just completed challenge #7 and the way I did it was this: Go straight behind the Minotaur and immediately spam Chronos' Rage (mind you that you need to start doing it before it wakes up, so maybe use it one time as soon as you reach him and then continue spamming it behind him). Have the subweapon switched to the Blade of Olympus and after you've spammed maybe a little over a half of your magic, start wailing on the Minotaur with the Blade and it should die pretty fast. Take care of the rest of the skeletons and that round should be over. During the next round, you should have some Chronos' Rage left, so use it one time immediately when the next batch of enemies appear. Continue having your Blade of Olympus equipped and then start wailing on the High Priest of Fates (the spell caste
  • r) so that he doesn't call in a Cyclops. Another batch of enemies should appear after killing him (including another Priest) so use another Chronos' Rage to lower their health and start killing the last Priest. After that you can use the remaining of your Chronos' Rage and take care of the rest of the enemies with your Blade and you will be all done. Kudos to #17 for the inspiration of killing the Minotaur with Chronos' Rage.
  • This youtube video helped me with #7: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q-cQASFyG8I
  • The only one that gave me any real trouble was Challenge 7. It took me like two hours of retrying but I finally did it just now. Still not half as frustrating as the last challenge on the original God of War but still a royal pain.
  • Of the three main God of War games that I've played, this game definitely has the hardest challenges. 6 was the hardest for me, just because of how long it was and how easy it was to fail ten minutes in.
  • Just FYI, don't bother with trying to meet the Bonus conditions; they needlessly make some tough challenges even tougher and you won't get anything extra for it.
  • stuck at challenge 4 :[
  • Nr 7 is really easy, but super annoying. Start by smashish the skeletons with your hammer and Triangle, When they are dead tou use medusa (l1+cirkle) when they are close together, Do not aum for the priest, you might wake up that stone dude, kill the stoned priest first since he can summon trolls, then smash the other goblins with the hammer, then use medusa again, on the next enemies, asain smash the priest first, then the goblins, if you are lucky like i was you will have over half of magic left, run behind the stonedude, activate rage of whatever(l3+r3), kick his ass but watch out for his rotate swing attack, then when he is downed, do not activate the minigame, you do not wanna press the wrong buttons and atart over, instead you spam him with that lighting attack, he should be dead
  • For anyone stuck on challenge 7. I finally beat it after being stuck on it for days...This is what I did- first off I used a fully upgraded big blue sword the whole time. Forget the name... I killed all the skeletons EXCEPT ONE. Left him alive and started in the big rock boss. Standing behind him activated my super power mode. R3 + L3 . And spammed him with the lightening while slashing him with triangle. Jumping away from him whenever he did his spinning move which you can predict by when he puts both hands to the left side of the screen. Staying behind him you can avoid every attack besides the spinning one. After you kill him take out the last skeleton then start on the next wave of guys. Keep using the lighting magic to keep enemy’s somewhat paralyzed (they can still attack whi
  • Challenge #4 Use Barbarian Hammer and spam Time Stop. Be careful about ring. 1st try and done.
  • This was very, very difficult at times, but once you know what you're doing it is achievable. C1 - Cronos' Rage to keep the enemies stunned, go to town on the cyclops with BoO until minigame prompt. Not too hard. C2 - really, really frustrating. I recommend L1+X to swoop enemies in the air. Be VERY careful of the gorgon - if she stones you in midair you're dead. C3 - Grab Medusa, counter her gaze. This one's easy. C4 - Horrible. FREEZE TIME, spam it hard. Cronos' Rage and BoO are your friends once again. C5 - this drove me crazy. Eventually I managed to spam Cronos' Rage and not get hit just long enough to get 505 orbs. Not easy. C6 - this isn't too bad. Remember to minigame the minotaurs and crowd control with Cronos' Rage. It's VERY doable.
  • C7 was maddening, and then on the attempt where I pulled it off it was suddenly really easy. Blade of Olympus all the skeletons without waking the minotaur, but leave ONE standing. Go behind the minotaur, rage of the titans, heavy attack it and keep an eye on that spin attack. Take him out, then finish off the last skeleton. After that, spam Cronos' Rage on every enemy that spawns. Do NOTHING else or you risk one of their attacks getting through, just spam CR and keep them stunned until they're all gone. It's a daunting one but imo you're more in control of your success than we were in Challenge 10 on God of War 1.
  • Challenge 7 was the most difficult but none of these were as bad as the first GoW
  • Thanks #54. It took me no more than 10 attempts to do challenge 7. BTW, I HIGHLY recommend fully upgrading the Blade of Olympus and the Cronos Rage. I struggled with challenge 6 for more than an hour with lvl 2 Blade of Olympus because I didn't have enough orbs. Then went back to one of my saves of the original play through around the middle of the game and followed a YouTube video to collect all red chests. Then I upgraded the blade and did challenge 6 on the very first try, just spamming Cronos Rage and swinging the blade, getting health from the minotaurs.
