G.I. Joe Blackout is a great third person shooter that will bring back the nostalgia for any Joe fan. Touted as made by the fans, you can really tell they took a ton of consideration into making sure the game closely resembles the old 80s cartoon. On top of a fun game, you also get a fairly easy platinum. Let's jump in!

Step 1: Playthrough on Easy/Side Missions/Mission Trophies

First play through on Easy and work towards finishing all side-missions and getting as many of the mission-related trophies as possible. During this step, you won't be able to use modifiers as you need to complete a mission at least once first.

Focus on what you can and just get through the missions so that modifiers open up to make things easier going forward.

You should receive the following trophies in this step:

  • Hot Potato
  • Lock and Load
  • Ultimate Power
  • A Job Well Done
  • Yo Joe!
  • Mine, all mine!
  • Recipe for Disaster
  • Cold Slither
  • A Joe Needs No Tricks
  • A McCullen Won't Forget
  • Man on the Run
  • Close Enough to the End
  • That Tech is Expensive!
  • Survival of the Fittest
  • Graves of the Firefly
  • A Relic of the Past
  • ...
  • You can't do thiss to me!
  • Dissasembly Line
  • The Pride of the McCullen
  • As Deadly as Ever
  • Spring Cleaning
  • They won't even know what hit them.
  • Target Practice
  • Doesn't Ring a Bell
  • Snake is sneak spelled sideways.
  • Whenever There's Trouble

Step 2: Real American Hero Playthrough/Collectibles

Now we can use modifiers! Load up your missions on Real American Hero and use the following:

  • Give player double HP and shield
  • Player does additional damage
  • Unlimited Ammo
  • Enemies drop grenades
  • Enemies drop additional ammo
  • Enemies explode once killed, damaging others around them
  • Unlimited Ultimates

Also go for collectibles on this playthrough.

You should receive the following trophies in this step:

  • Knowing is half the battle!
  • G.I. Joe is There
  • American Hero
  • A Real American Hero

Step 3: Additional Collectibles

In addition to the collectibles found in the missions, you need to complete levels with certain characters to unlock skins. There are 10 of these collectibles total and you need to do the following to get them:

  • Complete Mission 5 with Scarlett and Roadblock
  • Complete Mission 6 with Lady Jaye and Sci-Fi
  • Complete Mission 8 with Cobra Commander
  • Complete Mission 9 with Firefly
  • Complete Mission 11 with Zartan
  • Complete Mission 13 with Baroness and Destro
  • Complete Mission 14 with Duke

You should receive the following trophies in this step:

  • Now I Know!

Step 4: Local Multiplayer

During this step, you'll need at least two controllers. You need to win a multiplayer match with all 12 characters and win a multiplayer match in each game mode.

It's very easy and fast to do this by choosing whichever mode you want and adjusting the rules so the match ends as quickly as possible, either through time, kill count, or flag count etc. Just play against yourself and win the match. Ezpz.

You should receive the following trophies in this step:

  • Don't be a Stranger
  • Show Me What You've Got

Step 5: Clean up

At this point, if you're missing any mission related trophies, just load it up on Easy, use modifiers and blow through the mission to get it done.

  • Complete Blackout

35 trophies ( 18  13  )

  • Collect all the trophies.

Collect all the trophies to earn the Platinum.

  • Deal damage to 5 enemies with a single grenade.

There will be MANY opportunities to get this trophy, but if you're struggling, load up Mission 5 and get to the area where you have an unlimited use of the self-destruct sequence panel. Don't use the panel and lob a grenade at the areas where the enemy is spawning.

Use the modifiers to be able to use a large amount of grenades.

  • Win a multiplayer match in all game modes.

There are four game modes you need to win. You'll need a second controller as the multiplayer is local only.

Start up a match on each mode: Capture the Flag, Assault, King of the Hill and Team Arena.

Change the parameters to make the match go by as fast as possible (kill count, flag caps etc) and win once on each mode.

  • Perform an quick reload with all primary weapons.

You only need to perform a quick reload on the 12 characters' primary weapon. To quick reload you'll hit  and then  again when the bar reaches the middle. The reload sequence will also auto-start once your gun runs out. Make sure you do this on all 12 for the trophy. If you somehow manage to not play with all 12 characters in the campaign, you can also do this in multiplayer.

  • Perform all character ultimates.

To perform an ultimate, once your ultimate meter is full (middle-bottom of your screen) you can press  and together to activate it. Alternatively, you can wait until you've completed the missions and use modifiers to give you unlimited ultimates.

  • Win a multiplayer match with every character from Cobra and G.I. Joe.

Simply win one match each with all 12 characters. To speed this up, choose Assault and set the rules to 1 kill to win.

You'll need a second controller for this one as the multiplayer is local only.

  • Complete all secondary objectives on story mode.

There are side-missions in every mission except Missions 3, 7 and 15. The side missions are all very easy to complete and mostly self-explanatory. A video link is provided for each in the event that you're struggling with one.

  • Get half of the game collectables.

This will pop in Mission 8 if you're collecting as you go.

See Now I Know for a video of all locations.

  • Get all the collectables.

There are a total of 63 collectibles across the missions.

The only missions where you won't find any collectibles are Missions 3, 7 and 15.

In addition to the collectibles found in the missions (and in the below video), you need to complete levels with certain characters to unlock skins. There are 10 of these collectibles in total and you need to do the following to get them:

    • Complete Mission 5 with Scarlett and Roadblock
    • Complete Mission 6 with Lady Jaye and Sci-Fi
    • Complete Mission 8 with Cobra Commander
    • Complete Mission 9 with Firefly
    • Complete Mission 11 with Zartan
    • Complete Mission 13 with Baroness and Destro
    • Complete Mission 14 with Duke

  • Complete the tutorial.

Simply complete the tutorial for this trophy.

  • Complete Mission 1: "Capture the U.S.S. Flagg" in under 10 minutes.

Getting through this mission in under 10 minutes isn't difficult. Just rush through (follow the yellow objectives) and only kill the enemies you have to and take out Duke as quickly as possible.

If you struggle, remember that you can replay the mission with modifiers to make it easier on you. Here is a video below for an example if needed:

  • Complete Mission 2: "Light's Out" without activating any turrets.

In the last main area of Mission 2, you'll have the option to activate turrets to help with the waves of enemies that are going to attack. For this trophy, simply do not ever activate those turrets. They're easy to ignore as you have to run up to each one to activate them individually.

The waves of enemies aren't hard to deal with without them. If you struggle, play on the easiest difficulty and utilize modifiers.

  • Complete Mission 4: "Cold Case", without receiving health damage from Zartan.

During Mission 4 when you fight Zartan, simply make sure not to take any health damage from him. He can shoot you and take down your shield but not any health. He's a sniper so if you click  in his direction and immediately fire with , you'll get a hit on him faster as it auto-aims. If you struggle with this, you can play again utilizing modifiers that make your health and shield doubled to help you out.

  • Complete Mission 5: "Scarcity of Freedom" using the self-destruct sequence only once.

During Mission 5, you'll need to use a panel that causes all of the B.A.T.S. enemies to self-destruct. Once you use it the first time, NEVER use it again. You'll come to a room in which waves of enemies will spawn and you'll have the self-destruct panel to use. Never use it and instead deal with the waves on your own. If you get overwhelmed, utilize modifiers!

  • During Mission 6: "Come With Me If You Want To Live", knockdown Destro at least 4 times.

During Mission 6, Destro will show up to try and stop you from progressing. Simply shoot him repeatedly until he's downed (he'll kneel for a while once downed). Do this four times throughout the mission and the trophy will pop. He's very easy to down, but if you're struggling, use modifiers.

  • Complete Mission 8: "It's a Trap!" with 2 minutes or more left.

This is easy to do so long as you rush through the rooms where you DON'T fight Roadblock. You can simply run past all enemies and blow the door to the next area. When you're fighting Roadblock, just be as quick as possible.

If you're struggling, try this on the easiest difficulty and with modifiers on to help you.

  • Complete Mission 8: "It's a Trap!" without losing everything.

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

This trophy will pop at the completion of Mission 8. Once you've made it to the end you'll have completed Mission 8 without losing everything.

  • Complete Mission 8: "It's a Trap!" destroying no more than 3 B.A.T.S. pods.

At the beginning of the level, you are required to destroy the first 3 B.A.T.S. pods in order to progress. After this there will be B.A.T.S. pods in every room where Roadblock shows up: two in the first area, two in the second area and three in the final area. Make sure not to destroy them while you're fighting Roadblock.

Additionally, you can tell if you've destroyed any as the side-quest for destroying them all will show your count. So if you destroy one accidentally, on the right it'll say 1/7 under that side objective.

  • During Mission 9: "Made in Japan" while playing as Storm Shadow, defeat most of the ninjas using melee attacks.

To use melee, you'll need to press . This trophy is impossible to get playing Solo because your A.I. partner almost ALWAYS kills a ninja, negating the trophy. So play this mission on co-op with a second controller and simply hide your second character while you run through with Storm Shadow. Make sure to melee each and every Ninja you come across. To be extra safe, you can play the whole mission with the melee-only modifier on (along with others to make it easier) to get this without the worry of shooting one.

  • During Mission 9: "Made In Japan" as Firefly, defeat most of the enemies using only the Boomslang.

Like the above but easier. Just utilize Firefly and only use his Boomslang to take out enemies. It's a very slow gun with lots of fire power. I recommend waiting on this trophy and using modifiers to give yourself more health and unlimited ammo.

  • During Mission 10: "Fury & Silence", don't lose your grasp on the mold.

During Mission 10, you'll have a purple mold on your back. Storm Shadow will appear and run after you, trying to get it back. Simply run backwards and shoot him until he disappears. He'll do this on 3 separate occasions throughout the mission. See the video below:

video courtesy of Gold Hat Productions

  • ...

On Mission 10: "Fury & Silence", deal the final blow to Storm Shadow using Snake Eyes' katana.

Play through Mission 10 as Snake Eyes and once Storm Shadow's health is very low, use your melee to deal the last blow. Melee is

  • During Mission 11: "Nothing Personal", defeat Cobra Commander in less than 2 minutes.

Cobra Commander is very easy to take down in 2 minutes. There will be other enemies that spawn into the area but just focus on him and keep moving. As with everything in the game, if its too hard, use modifiers. The video below shows an example of defeating him in under 2 minutes at the end:

video courtesy of Gold Hat Productions

  • During Mission 12: "First Light" defeat 25 B.A.T.S. using turrets.

During the final area of Mission 12, you'll have two turrets you can utilize against waves and waves of B.A.T.S. enemies. Position them how you'd like them and stand behind them as often as possible so the enemies rush into the turrets and not you. The trophy will pop as soon as you hit 25. If you get to the end and there are no more waves, reload your checkpoint and try again.

video courtesy of Gold Hat Productions

  • Complete Mission 13: "Unplugged" as Destro without taking down neither Scarlett nor Lady Jaye.

Make sure you're playing as Destro. During Mission 13, Lady Jaye will show up during a wave of enemies and then Scarlett will show up. Ignore them. Just run around killing everyone else and they'll eventually go away. Mostly you just want to avoid getting shot too much by them. They aren't the most powerful of characters and deal little damage, but if you're struggling, use those modifiers.

  • During Mission 13: "Unplugged" defeat both Lady Jaye and Scarlett while playing as Baroness.

The opposite of the Unplugged trophy; you need to play as Baroness and defeat Lady Jay and Scarlett during the waves.

  • Complete Mission 14: "Undo What They Did to USS" having defeated most enemies.

Just make sure you don't run past any enemies in this mission. Kill them all. There are many points you could just run through to the next objective, but you need to slow down and take everyone out for this one.

  • Complete Mission 16: "Enemy of my Enemy" in under 15 minutes.

It's very simple to get through this mission in around 12 minutes if you aren't focusing on side-missions, trophies or collectibles. Simply load it up on Easy, apply modifiers and run through.

  • During Mission 16: "Enemy of my Enemy" on single player, win the B.A.T.S. destruction contest.

At some point during Mission 16, you'll get a kill count between you and Storm Shadow. Just make sure you get more kills than he does in this section. He's a slow shot so just stay ahead of him during the enemy encounters.

  • Complete Mission 17: "Freedom Squad" without losing control of your character.

During mission 17, you'll come across Destro and Baroness and a bell. Destro will approach you first so keep shooting him until he's downed. Don't let him touch the bell. Once he's taken care of, focus your attention on Baroness and take her down.

Essentially you need to keep them occupied enough so that they aren't able to get to the bell and ring it. If they ring it, you'll temporarily lose control of your character.

  • During Mission 17: "Freedom Squad", defeat the last boss avoiding its special attack.

The final boss is Storm Shadow. Don't allow him to do his ultimate (he'll throw smoke down.) To do this, make sure you are constantly shooting him and running backwards. The fight area is large and great for this.

  • Complete all missions of story mode on "Action Figures" difficulty.

    See Real American Hero

  • Complete all missions of story mode on "Government Issue" difficulty.

    See Real American Hero

  • Complete all missions of story mode on "Man of Action" difficulty.

    See Real American Hero

  • Complete all missions of story mode on "Real American Hero" difficulty.

    (Difficulty)

Once you play through the game once on any difficulty, you unlock modifiers. Modifiers DO NOT negate trophies. There are modifiers that make the game harder and ones that make it a lot easier. The majority of the missions are pretty brutal on Real American Hero difficulty, so utilizing the modifiers will greatly reduce your struggle.

The following modifiers are what you should use for your Real American Hero playthroughs:

    • Give player double HP and shield
    • Player does additional damage
    • Unlimited Ammo
    • Enemies drop grenades
    • Enemies drop additional ammo
    • Enemies explode once killed, damaging others around them
    • Unlimited Ultimates
