Introduction

Final Fantasy X-2 HD is the second half of Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD Remaster and is the sequel to Final Fantasy X, taking place two years after the events of the first game. Originally released in 2003 by Square-Enix, Final Fantasy X-2 HD is based off of the International + Last Mission version of the game that was never released in English. This version has many changes from the original Final Fantasy X-2, including two new dresspheres, a Creature Creator mode that allows you to recruit fiends and have them fight alongside you, and Last Mission, a roguelike sequel to Final Fantasy X-2 that takes place three months after the events of the game and wraps up any remaining storylines.

While attempting to obtain the platinum for Final Fantasy X-2 HD, it should be noted that there are many missable trophies and events that will impede your success. Even the most minute things such as missing or skipping any lines of dialogue or small scenes can ruin your chances of obtaining Completion, causing you to do another playthrough using New Game +. One of the most difficult trophies to obtain in Final Fantasy X-2 HD is Sweet Perfection, requiring 100% story completion. Although it is possible to achieve this in one playthrough, because of the finicky nature of the game, it is recommended to do this in two playthroughs, especially for first-time players. Due to a choice that must be made after the beginning of the game's second chapter, the actual story completion is approximately 110%, thus making acquiring 100% story completion in two playthroughs very possible. It is seriously advised to create many save files in case you realize that you have made a mistake and need to return to a previous part of the game.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Complete the main game

Final Fantasy X-2 HD is comprised of five story chapters. In this step, you want to concentrate on obtaining every missable trophy. This includes, but is not limited to, getting every dressphere, every Episode Complete, listening to all of Maechen's stories, acquiring five Blue Bullet skills, using Mix thirty times as an Alchemist, paying off O'aka's debt, and unlocking the Ruin Depths and capturing the Amazing Chocobo. If you want to go for 100% story completion in this step, it is highly recommended to follow a guide. KG21's 100% story completion is very well done, detailed and concise. However, if you are unable to get a 100% story completion in this step, do not fret. Following two different 100% story completion guides might also be helpful. Saving your game after the credits allows you to do a New Game +, with story level completion, items, dresspheres, garment grids and gil all carrying over, and levels resetting back to their default.

During step 1, you will earn these trophies:
Dressed for the Occasion
Specialty
Good Listener (Missable)
Tricky Trapper (Missable)
Zeroed Out
Defeating an Old Friend
Dousing the Fire
Sphere Breaker
Alchemist (Missable)
Learner (Missable)
Millionaire (Missable)
Teamwork!
Excellent Negotiator
Complete Ability
Gamber's Dream
Lifetime Support
Complete Episode (Missable)
Treasure Hunter
The Gunner
Full Chain
Overkill
Chocobo Whisperer (Missable)
Sphere Hunter (Missable)
Dancing Queen (Missable)
Monster Master (Missable)
Founder
Machine of War
Sweet Perfection (Missable)

Step 2: Main game clean up

If you were unable to obtain Sweet Perfection in step 1, or have missed any of the missable trophies, begin a New Game +. When given the option to hand over the Awesome Sphere to a faction, give it to the faction that you did not give it to in step 1. For example, if you gave the Awesome Sphere to the Youth League in step 1, then give it to New Yevon this time around. By going through the game associated with the other faction, you can easily make up for any missing remaning story completion percentage. In this step, also unlock any trophies you missed in step 1.

Step 3: Complete Last Mission

Last Mission is a roguelike sequel to the main game, and thus its gameplay is radically different from its predecessor. Your goal in Last Mission is to climb all eighty floors of the Iutycur Tower and make it to the top. The girls enter the tower with no items and only their default dresspheres, and you must use the items and dresspheres that you find on each randomly generated floor in order to battle and make your way to the top. There are seals on the elevators that must be broken every five floors, and boss battles every twenty floors. For tips and information on how to break the elevator seals, refer to Giant Tower in the trophy guide.

During this step, you will earn these trophies:
Just Starting
Still a Ways
Midway Through
Almost There
Tonberry's Treasure
Giant Tower
Completion

35 trophies ( 22  2  )

  • Obtain all available trophies

Once you obtain all other trophies in Final Fantasy X-2 HD, this trophy is yours.

  • Change Dresspheres on Yuna, Rikku, and Paine in one battle

Simply change Yuna's, Rikku's and Paine's dresspheres in the same battle. To change dresspheres in battle, press on the PS3 or on the Vita, and choose another dressphere on the Garment Grid.

  • Obtain one special dress

This trophy is obtained when you obtain a special dressphere. Special dresspheres are powerful dresspheres that are unique to each of the girls. These dresspheres possess high stats and strong abilities, and the other two girls leave the battlefield whenever one of your character transforms into their special dressphere. The three special dresspheres and their locations are as follows:

    • Floral Fallal. Yuna's special dressphere. It is obtained during the Two Birds, One Stone mission at Djose in Chapter 2.
    • Machina Maw. Rikku's special dressphere. It is obtained during the Water We Doing Here? mission at Bikanel in Chapter 2.
    • Full Throttle. Paine's special dressphere. It is obtained after talking to Tromell four times at the spring in Macalania Woods near Lake Macalania in Chapter 1 or Chapter 2. (Missable)

Full Throttle is the only missable special dressphere in the game. However, even if you miss it, you can still get this trophy because Floral Fallal and Machina Maw are not missable. Be warned that if you do miss Full Throttle, you cannot receive Sphere Hunter in your current playthrough.

  • Listen to all of Maechen's stories

    (Missable)

You must speak to Maechen at every opportunity you get and listen to his whole story. Do not skip any dialogue or the scene. Just do not press any button during his story. Maechan can be encountered in the following locations:

    • Youth League HQ at Mushroom Rock Road in Chapter 1
    • Logos' Room in Guadosalam in Chapter 3
    • Celsius' Bridge after the concert in Chapter 4
    • Zanarkand Ruins in Chapter 5
  • Help Clasko catch a chocobo by the end of Chapter 3

    (Missable)

In Chapter 1, during the Foggy Fiend Frenzy! mission, speak to Clasko before beginning the mission. Once the mission is complete, return to him and invite him onboard the Celsius. In Chapter 2, complete the Cuckoo for Chocobos! mission in Mi'ihen Highroad, and afterwards, return to the agency and invite Clasko back onboard. Fly to the Calm Lands, follow Clasko to the former monster arena, complete the Clean Sweep mission, and you will have unlocked the Chocobo Ranch.

Once the ranch is unlocked, you can obtain Gyshal Greens from Clasko. If you use them on a Chocobo you encounter in random battles, you can capture it and send it to Clasko. Do this once before the end of Chapter 3 and this trophy is yours.

  • Defeat YSLS-Zero

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. It will unlock after final boss battle in Chapter 1 against YSLS-Zero in Kilika.

  • Defeat Zalamander

This trophy is story-related and cannot be missed. It will unlock after the final boss battle in Chapter 4 against Zalamander in the Thunder Plains.

  • Win 10 times at Sphere Break

This trophy is unlocked after winning at Sphere Break ten times. Sphere Break opponents can be played against in the Blitzball locker room halls at Luca, and during the Sphere Break tournament in Chapter 3. The easiest way to win at Sphere Break is to continuously use one Entry Coin and one Border Coin to create the multiple, thus increasing your Echo bonuses and getting more and more bonus points each round. The only way you can lose the game is if a Core Number of 1 comes up and breaks your combo.

If you need help at Sphere Break, use the Sphere Break Decoder on Joran's Homepage.

  • Use Mix 30 times

    (Missable)

Once you complete Clean Sweep mission in the Calm Lands (refer to Tricky Trapper for more details), you will also obtain the Alchemist dressphere. Simply use the Mix command thirty times, and this trophy will unlock.

  • Learn 5 Blue Bullet skills

    (Missable)

Blue Bullet skills are very similar to Blue Magic, and can only be used by the Gun Mage. There are two opportunities to obtain the Gun Mage dressphere: in Chapter 1, complete the Shave the Hypello mission at the Moonflow and Tobli will give it to you as a reward (you do not have to talk to him beforehand), or, if you missed it in Chapter 1, complete the YRP, The Scalpers Three mission in Chapter 2 at the Moonflow and make a profit, and Tobli will reward you with the dressphere.

In order to learn a Blue Bullet skill, a fiend must simply use the skill on your Gun Mage. She does not have to survive the attack. Learn five different Blue Bullet skills and the trophy will unlock. The earliest time this trophy can be unlocked is in Chapter 2. Consult the Blue Bullet FAQ by Split Infinity on GameFAQs for the names and locations of every fiend that can use Blue Bullet skills on you.

  • Pay off O'aka's debt

    (Missable)

In Chapter 1 or 2, enter Lake Macalania, and when the Al Bhed are outside the agency looking for O'aka, speak to him when he appears and follow him into the Macalania Woods. Complete the Follow that O'aka! by locating O'aka in the area two screens north of the spring where Yuna and Tidus had their romance scene near the Calm Lands. Let O'aka onboard the Celsius, and you can begin paying off his 100,000 gil debt by purchashing his items.

The easiest way to make 100,000 gil is to enter Guadosalam in Chapter 2 with at least 10,000 gil. Save first, enter the inn, and buy data from the innkeeper. If his hint is not "It's the last person you'd expect", then reload until he says it. Once he does, sell the data back to him for 100,000 gil. You can then use this gil to pay off O'aka's debt. Once the debt is paid off, this trophy will unlock.

  • Win a blitzball match

Blitzball can only be played during Chapter 5. To unlock this trophy, simply win one Blitzball match. For more information on how to play Blitzball in Final Fantasy X-2 HD, please consult the Blitzball FAQ by Jack Power on GameFAQs.

  • Use Bribe 30 times

Bribe is an ability that can be used by the Lady Luck dressphere. Lady Luck can be obtained in Chapter 3 for winning the Sphere Break tournament. Defeat three opponents, and then defeat Shinra, and Lady Luck is yours. Shinra has a quota of 50, with 15 turns to complete the quota and 45 seconds per turn. If you are having difficulty defeating Shinra, consult the Sphere Break Decoder on Joran's Homepage. If you missed Lady Luck in Chapter 3, it can be obtained in Chapter 5 by defeating Shinra at Sphere Break in Luca. However, he is much more difficult, with a quota of 100, with 20 turns to complete the quota and a time limit of 30 seconds per turn.

Shinra's location in Luca in Chapter 5.

Once you have obtained Lady Luck and have learned Bribe, use the ability on fiends thirty times and this trophy will unlock. The amount of gil required to bribe an enemy is determined by their max HP multiplied by 6.25. Thus, using Bribe against weak enemies will save you some money. The Bribe does not need to be successful for it to count towards this trophy, so you can bribe a fiend any amount of gil and it will count for this trophy.

  • Complete the ability set for one dress

Simply learn every ability for a dressphere and this trophy will unlock. The easiest dressphere to master is Black Mage with 680 AP required to learn every ability.

  • Roll the same number on all the Gambler's Dice

Using Lady Luck, continuously use the Two Dice ability until the same two numbers are rolled and this trophy will unlock.

  • View one complete fiend tale

This is the only trophy associated with the Creature Creator. Simply view a fiend tale and this trophy will unlock. To view a fiend tale, a fiend must be leveled up five times and released at the "Creature History" section of the Creature Creator. All your fiends also receive a fiend tale bonus everytime you complete a chapter. Thus, if you keep the same fiends for the majority of the game, you will be able to watch their fiend tales near the end of the game without having to do much work.

  • Complete an episode in Chapter 5

    (Missable)

Simply get an Episode Complete in Chapter 5 and this trophy will unlock. If you are following a 100% story completion guide, you should be able to get Episode Complete at every location in Chapter 5. For more information on how to get Episode Complete in specific locations, consult the Episode Complete Guide by EChang on GameFAQs.

  • Open the chest that includes the Ribbon in the Bevelle Underground

The Ribbon can be obtained in the Bevelle Underground starting at the end of Chapter 2 during the Infiltrate Bevelle mission. It is located relatively early in the dungeon, and can be acquired in the room with the security towers after aligning the first three platforms to reveal the path forward. Once the first three platforms are aligned, it is a matter of aligning the next three platforms to form a downward spiral and create a path down to the room with the Ribbon.

There are six towers in this room, three blue towers and three red towers. The red towers are used to select a certain platform to move, and the blue towers are used to move that platform either clockwise or counter-clockwise. Starting from the first red tower where you fight Precepts Guard, going in a counter-clockwise direction, the towers are identified as follows:

    1. Tower 1. Advance the selected plate clockwise one step. You will battle Precepts Guard.
    2. Tower 2. Select the sixth (bottom-most) platform.
    3. Tower 3. Advance the selected plate counter-clockwise one step. You will battle Georapella.
    4. Tower 4. Select the fifth platform.
    5. Tower 5. Advance a plate three spots.
    6. Tower 6. Select the fourth plate.

Using these controls, you should be able to create a downward spiral path using the platforms, enter the room at the very bottom, and obtain the Ribbon. If you have not touched any towers after aligning the first three platforms, follow these instructions to easily open the path to the Ribbon:

    1. Activate tower 6 to select the fourth plate.
    2. Activate tower 1 four times to move the fourth plate four times clockwise.
    3. Activate tower 2 to select the sixth platform.
    4. Activate tower 1 two times to move the sixth plate two times clockwise.
    5. Activate tower 4 to select the fifth platform.
    6. Activate tower 5 one time to move the fifth platform three places.

Once the downward spiral path is in place, make your way down to collect your Ribbon, and the trophy will unlock. If you are unable to obtain the Ribbon in Chapter 2, Bevelle Underground can be returned to at the end of Chapter 3 after Kilika Temple, and in Chapter 5.

  • Reach the highest level (LVMAX) in Gunner's Gauntlet

The Gunner's Gauntlet is the mini-game that is initiated by speaking to Beclem right outside of Besaid Village in Chapters 2 and 3. During Chapter 5, the Gunner's Gauntlet is still playable by speaking to Datto in the same location that Beclem was outside of Besaid.

The point of the Gunner's Gauntlet is for Yuna to fight her way from the Village Slope all the way to the Beach in seven minutes using only her gun and ammo obtained from defeating enemies along the way. Success or not will depend on how much points you have accumulated along the way. The stronger the fiend, the more points you will obtain. Further, a Chain Gauge is present that increases when you defeat fiends. The Chain Gauge can reach up to level 3. When the Chain Gauge is at level 1, your points are multiplied by 1, when the Chain Gauge is at level 2, your points are multiplied by 2, and so on. If you are ever hit by a fiend, your Chain Gauge is reset back to level 1.

In order to unlock this trophy, you must reach the highest level in the Gunner's Gauntlet. You do not have to beat the highest level, just reach it. In order to reach the highest level of the Gunner's Gauntlet, you must amass a total of 2,800 points from the beginning of the Village Slope to the Beach, all in one run of the Gauntlet. It is not cumulative.

There is a very exploitable trick that will help immensely in unlocking this trophy. In the Waterfall Way, the screen with the waterfalls, if you position Yuna against the fence right before the final waterfall of the screen, the fiends will simply run past her without attacking her. Thus, you can simply shoot them point blank and amass as many points as you want.

The fiend blind spot before the last waterfall with a Bicoette fiend walking by Yuna

Use this fiend blind spot until you are able reach level 6 of the Gauntlet. Don't be afraid to use Death and Dual ammo, and give yourself a minute to make your way to the Beach and finish the Gauntlet when you have as much points as you want. Level 6 is obtained by amassing 1,300 points in total. Bicoette fiends begin to appear in this level at the Waterfall Way. These fiends are the short fiends that are purple and yellow in color. These fiends drop the Volley ammo, which can kill every fiend on-screen in one shot. Waiting at the blind spot when a large amount of fiends come on-screen and unleashing a Volley will yield a large amount of points, especially when the Chain Gauge is at level 3. Further, when you get the ability to combine ammo, combining two Death ammos will yield you one Volley ammo.

Continue using the blind spot and Volley ammo until you have amassed a total of 2,800 points. Once you have, make your way to the Beach and end the game. For acquiring 2,800 points, your trophy will unlock, and you will also be rewarded with the Adamantite accessory. This trophy can be obtained as soon as you can play the Gunner's Gauntlet in Chapter 2.

  • Achieve a 99 chain attack

This trophy will unlock once you have achieved a chain of 99 during battle. This task may sound daunting, but it is possible against Chac, an enemy that appears as a boss on the 80th floor of Via Infinito, and as a regular enemy on floors 81 to 99. Chac is an excellent enemy to perform a chain of 99 against for two reasons: she has over 430,000 HP, allowing you to safely perform over 99 attacks without killing her and ending the battle, and she has a rather long stagger animation. This is important because as long as you are able to attack her before you stagger animation ends, your chain will still increase. This gives you a breathing room of around one or two seconds between attacks if you are not able to attack her right away. There are two methods that can be used to achieve of chain of 99:

    1. The first method involves having a party of three Thieves. Because Thieves attack twice in one turn, their regular attacks are very useful in achieving a chain of 99. Equip Yuna and Paine with the Speed Bracer for Auto-Haste to speed up their attack animations. Simply continue attacking Chac with the girls one at a time until you achieve a chain of 99, and Chac will never even get one attack in due to constantly being staggered. Be warned, however, that this method will not work if your girls are at a high level. Above level 90, you will kill Chac before reaching a chain of 99.

    2. The second method involves having a party of three Gunners, each with Trigger Happy Lv. 2 and Trigger Happy Lv. 3 learned. Speed Bracers are not necessary for this method, but are recommended. When the battle against Chac begins, wait until your three girls' ATB gauges are all filled up, then unleash the first Trigger Happy. You do not need to begin your next Trigger Happy right away due to Chac's long stagger animation, so you can give yourself about half a second or so to let your previous character's ATB gauge begin to fill. Keep repeating this process until you reach a chain of 99.

Inflicting critical hits prolongs the stagger animation slightly, allowing you more time for your next attack to be a chain attack. To increase a character's luck, equip the Rabite's Foot accessory (rare drop from Jumbo Cactuar or common drop from Oversoul Jumbo Cactuar) to increase her luck by 100 points, or equip the Ray of Hope Garment Grid (obtained by getting an Episode Complete in Macalania Woods) to increase her luck by 30 points.

  • Deal 99999 damage with one attack

In order to even be able to deal 99,999 damage, you will need to have the Break Damage Limit ability. Break Damage Limit can be obtained using the Higher Power Garment Grid, obtained for clearing the Ruin Depths dungeon in Chapter 5 (refer to Chocobo Whisperer for more details), or The End Garment Grid, obtained by Oversouling every Oversoulable fiend in the game and entering Shinra's bestiary (refer to Monster Master for more details). The Invincible accessory also grants Break Damage Limit. It can be obtained by speaking to a man with a camera in the second screen of Kilika in Chapters 1, 3 and 5. In Chapter 5, he will ask you if you want to go to the new Youth League HQ. Say yes, and you will be able to find the Invincible accessory in this area.

With Break Damage Limit, it is simply a matter of using a powerful attack against an enemy with low defense. If you have the Mascot dressphere, Yuna's Moogle Beam or Paine's Cactling Gun abilities are a good option because they ignore the enemy's magic defense and defense, respectively. Thus, equipping accessories that increase Yuna's magic attack or Paine's physical attack, and using Songstress buffs (Battle Cry to increase physical attack, Esoteric Melody to increase magic attack), Moogle Beam and Cactling Gun will be able to hit for 99,999 damage against a weak enemy on the lower levels of Via Infinito.

  • Catch the Amazing Chocobo

    (Missable)

The Amazing Chocobo can be found in the Ruin Depths in the Chocobo Ranch in the Calm Lands in Chapter 5. You will have to have unlocked the Chocobo Ranch (refer to Tricky Trapper for more details) and caught four Chocobos in random battles that are able to reach level 5. To check if they are able to reach level 5, simply talk to them in the ranch, and their nature and max level will be displayed. These Chocobos will be dispatched in the Calm Land; it is preferable if the Chocobos have a Bold nature in order to reduce the amount of Heart lost per dispatch, but it is not necessary. Kilika is a great place to catch Chocobos, and they are more likely than not to be Bold there. Once you have four Chocobos that can reach level 5, set them as the Choco-Runners and follow these steps:

    1. Dispatch all four Chocobos to the Calm Lands, fight seven battles, and return to Clasko to see that all the Chocobos have returned. **Always save before speaking to Clasko. If any Chocobo ran away, reload and try again.
    2. Refill your Chocobos' Heart and level them up to level 2. Dispatch them to the Calm Lands, fight seven battles, and return to Clasko.
    3. Refill your Chocobos' Heart and level them up to level 3. Dispatch them to the Calm Lands, fight seven battles, and return to Clasko.
    4. Refill your Chocobos' Heart and level them up to level 4. Dispatch them to the Calm Lands, fight seven battles, and return to Clasko.
    5. Refill your Chocobos' Heart and level them up to level 5. This time, only dispatch the first three Choco-Runners (1, 2 and 3) to the Calm Lands, fight seven battles, and return to Clasko.
    6. Refill your Chocobos' Heart. This time, only dispatch your last three Choco-Runners (2, 3 and 4) to the Calm Lands. After seven battles, return to Clasko, and he will inform you that the Chocobos have discovered a secret dungeon in the Chocobo Ranch.

To reduce the chances of a Chocobo running away, fill up your ranch with fourteen Chocobos, the maximum your ranch can hold.

Once you reach the Ruin Depths, the Amazing Chocobo can be caught by reaching the end of the dungeon, defeating the Anything Eater, and opening all locked walls. Once all the walls have been unlocked and opened, the Amazing Chocobo can be caught by simply reaching it, and the trophy will pop. If you are having difficulty navigating the Ruin Depths, consider equipping a Charm Bangle to eliminate random encounters, and consult The Game Spawn's Ruin Depths map on GameFAQs.

If missed, it can be obtained in Chapter 3 after the events in Kilika Temple, or in Chapter 5. When you reach an area with three lifts, take the one on the left up, climb the two elevations on this floor, then fall back to the lower floor by going south (do not take the lift back down). Use the middle lift to be transported to a new room, and climb the elevation there. Return back down, take the right lift up, return to the lift on the left and take it back down. Again, use the middle lift to reach a new room, climb the elevation, and make your way back down. Use the left lift again to reach the upper floor, and now use the top lift to make your way up. You will be in a new screen with a save sphere, a chest containing the Dark Knight dressphere, and the path forward.
    • Lady Luck. Obtained by beating Shinra at Sphere Break in Luca during the Sphere Break tournament in Chapter 3. If you were unable to win the tournament, Shinra can be challenged again in Chapter 5 in Luca. Refer to Excellent Negotiator for more information.

    • Trainer. In Chapters 1 and 2, speak to Kimhari at Mount Gagazet and always choose the middle (second) option when given the choice. In Chapter 3, return to Mount Gagazet, speak with Kimhari, and he will give you this dressphere. (Missable)
    • Samurai. During the Pest Control in Kilika Temple in Chapter 3, once you extinguish the flames in the pit at the end of the Cloister of Trials, the dressphere will be on the ground in the pit. If you missed this dressphere in Chapter 3, it is located in a chest in Kilika Temple in Chapter 5.
    • Mascot. Get an Episode Complete at every location in Chapter 5, and you will obtain this dressphere when you return to the Celsius automatically. Make sure not to do the Zanarkand Ruins Episode Complete last, as you do not return to the Celsius automatically. If you are following a 100% guide, you should be able to obtain an Episode Complete in every location. For information on how to obtain an Episode Complete in a specific location, please consult the Episode Complete Guide by EChang on GameFAQs. If you are unable to get an Episode Complete in every location, Mascot can be obtained by completing the Youth League Cup in the Fiend Arena. In order to unlock the Youth League Cup in the Fiend Arena, beat the Standard Cup three times to unlock Standard Cup: Hard. Beat Standard Cup: Hard one time to unlock Grand Cup. Beat Grand Cup three times to unlock Grand Cup: Hard. Finally, beat Grand Cup: Hard six times to unlock the Youth League Cup.
    • Floral Fallal. Yuna's special dressphere, obtained after the Two Birds, One Stone mission in Djose during Chapter 2. Refer to Specialty for more information.
    • Machina Maw. Rikku's special dressphere, obtained after the Water We Doing Here? mission in Bikanel during Chapter 2. Refer to Specialty for more information.
    • Full Throttle. Paine's special dressphere, obtained after speaking to Tromell four times in Macalania Woods in Chapters 1 or 2. Refer to Specialty for more information. (Missable)

Because New Game + allows you to carry over your dresspheres into a new game, you do not have to start from scratch if you happen to miss one during your playthrough. Simply start a New Game + and complete the requirements for the dressphere(s) that you missed.

  • Obtain Magical Dances, Vol. II

    (Missable)

Magical Dances, Vol. II is a key item that allows the Songstress to learn the Magical Masque ability. This item is a drop from Experiment in Djose Temple once you have levelled it up to its maximum level in Chapter 5.

To level up Experiment, you must dig up parts in Bikanel Island until you amass enough points to level it up. In order to dig, you must receive a digging license from Gippal at Djose Temple in Chapters 1 or 2, then make your way to Bikanel Island and begin digging. Attack, Defense and Special parts can be dug up in Bikanel at the yellow X marks, and it is seemingly random which parts you will dig up. The point is to dig up Assembly parts for Experiment's Attack, Defense and Special stats, and the more parts you dig up, the more it will level up. You can dig up A, S or Z Assembly parts in Bikanel, with A parts worth 1 point, S parts worth 3 points, and Z parts worth 5 points. For example, a Special Assembly S part will add 3 points to Experiment's Special stat. Once a stat reaches 38 points, it has reached level 5. When Experiment's Attack, Defense and Special stats are all at level 5, defeat the Experiment at Djose and win Magical Dances, Vol. II.

    * Be warned that the Experiment must be faced at least once before it reaches its maximum level in order to get as much story completion percentage as possible. If Experiment is at its maximum levels the first time you battle it, you will miss out on some story completion, and you will not be able to get Sweet Perfection in your current playthrough.

  • Complete Shinra's Bestiary

    (Missable)

This trophy will unlock once you've filled every entry in Shinra's Bestiary. It is not associated with the Creature Creator and fiend tales in any way. You must encounter every enemy and also encounter them Oversouled as well. Every Oversoulable enemy in the game can be encountered in the Via Infinito in Chapter 5, except for Precepts Guard and Georapella in the Bevelle Underground (refer to Treasure Hunter for more information). In order for an Oversoul entry to be added to Shinra's bestiary, it is not necessary to defeat it. You can defeat a specific enemy type in the lower levels of Via Infinito until it Oversouls, flee, then encounter the fiend you need to Oversoul in the floors of Via Infinito where it appears. When you enter the battle and it Oversouls, you can flee and its entry will still be counted. This is useful for the difficult fiends that appear on the upper levels of the Via Infinito. Alternatively, you can use the Battle Simulator in the Fiend Arena of Shinra's Creature Creator and battle a specific fiend until it Oversouls, then find its counterpart(s) that you need to Oversoul in the Via Infinito.

Certain fiends are required to be beaten outside of the Via Infinito first in order for them to appear in the dungeon.

King VERMIN! can be found in the Fiend Colony in Mi'ihen Highroad in Chapter 5. Once you have a Choco-Runner at level 5 (refer to Chocobo Whisperer for more information), dispatch it to the Mi'ihen Highroad, and when it returns, the Fiend Colony will be discovered. Make your way through the dungeon, and defeat King VERMIN!

The Fiend Colony's location in the Mi'ihen Highroad in Chapter 5.

Azi Dahaka can found in the Farplane in Chapter 5 if you attempt to go through an electrical gate without first deactivating it. It can be Ejected from battle.

Azi Dahaka's location in the Farplane in Chapter 5.

Chocobo Eater is found at the end of the Cuckoo for Chocobos mission at the Mi'ihen Highroad in Chapter 2.

You must encounter Azi Dahaka and Chocobo Eater for them to appear in the Via Infinito. Failing to do so means you will need to do a New Game +.

For a list of what fiends appear on what floor of the Via Infinito, refer to the Final Fantasy X-2 Oversoul Checklist by KSheth on Neoseeker.

  • Defeat Trema

Trema is the most difficult boss in Final Fantasy X-2 HD outside of the Fiend Arena, and he can be faced once you reach Floor 100 of the Via Infinito. Before you face Trema, however, you must face Paragon, another difficult foe, and you are then thrust into battle with Trema in the same state you finished the battle with Paragon. Please be advised that using Catnip is not an option anymore in Final Fantasy X-2 HD, as it now also causes Auto-Slow and Auto-Berserk. Further, draining Trema's MP with Mana Spring is also not an option anymore, as he has the Spellspring ability, allowing to cast magic at a cost of 0 MP.

There are many strategies for defeating Trema, however. I will outline one of the safest method to beating him.

You will need the Mascot dressphere, the Alchemist dressphere, the Lady Luck dressphere, a lot of gil (over 1 million to be safe), the Higher Power Garment Grid (received for completing the Ruin Depths, refer to Chocobo Whisperer for more information) for Break HP Limit and Break Damage Limit, and accessories that increase the magic attack stat, physical attack stat and maximum HP. It is also recommended to have two Twin Stars (drop from Mega Toberry), or Three Stars (bribe Omega Weapon) in order to use on Yuna and Paine for them to have 0 MP Consumption. If you do not have these items, be sure to have a lot of Ethers and Turbo Ethers.

Have everyone equip the Higher Power garment grid. Equip Yuna with Mascot and magic-increasing accessories, and equip Paine with Mascot and physical attacking accessories. Equip Rikku with HP-increasing accessories. When the battle with Paragon begins, immediately Bribe him for over 1 million gil, and you will receive 20 - 25 Dark Matters. When the battle against Trema begins, use Rikku as an Alchemist to Mix a Dark Matter and a Potion. This will create the Miracle Drink, which gives your party total damage immunity for a period of time. If Trema attacks Rikku, he will kill her, so have your two Mascots use a Phoenix Down and try again. Once you have Mixed a Miracle Drink, have Yuna and Paine cross the garment grid to unlock the Break Damage Limit ability. Rikku should use a Stamina Tonic to double the party's max HP, then a Megalixir or Mega-Potions to heal everyone up. Everyone should have approximately 13,000 HP. Also, if you have Twin Stars or Three Stars, use them on Yuna and Paine, as their Moogle Beam and Cactling Gun abilities cost 99 MP. Once this is done, have Rikku keep mixing Miracle Drinks to be continuously invulnerable during the battle.

While Rikku is mixing Miracle Drinks, just have Yuna use Moogle Beam and Paine use Cactling Gun, and Trema should go down without any hassle. With Miracle Drink active, you should not be afraid of Trema's Meteor or Ultima. If he does happen to get in an attack while Miracle Drink's effects expire, quickly mix another one and heal. Even if you are immune to damage, it is better to be safe than sorry and to always be at maximum HP.

Once Trema is defeated, this trophy will unlock.

  • Complete 100% of the main story

    (Missable)

This trophy will unlock the moment you reach 100% story completion. It is highly recommended to use a 100% completion guide when playing through the game in order to get this trophy in one playthrough, or to get the highest amount of completion percentage you can before having to do a New Game +, if needed. This trophy will unlock the moment you reach 100% completion. It is not required to beat the game with 100% completion.

Defeat the boss on the 40th floor, Stalwart, and this trophy will unlock. See Giant Tower for more details on Last Mission.

  • Reach the 60th floor of Iutycyr Tower and defeat the boss

Defeat the boss on the 60th floor, Omega Weapon, and this trophy will unlock. See Giant Tower for more details on Last Mission.

  • Obtain treasure in the Tonberry area

This trophy can be unlocked once you reach the 61st floor, and will require three Find Secret Room folios. Two Save Memos are also recommended.

Once you defeat Omega Weapon on the 60th floor, save when you ascend to the 61st floor. Use a Find Secret Room folio until you find a room with stone pillars in a circle. If you do not, reload and try again. Destroy the pillar in the middle and exit the secret room. Use a Save Memo to save, and repeat the process again until you find a secret room with pillars in the shape of an X. Destroy the middle one, use a Save Memo to save, and repeat the process until you find a secret room with pillars in the shape of a triangle. Once you destroy the middle pillar, the path to the secret Tonberry room will open, where you must face four Mega Tonberries and one normal Tonberry. To make the battle much easier, cast Doom (a Dark Knight ability) on the Mega Tonberries and wait it out. The counter begins at 45, so having Hope: A Memoir folios for Auto-Life may be helpful.

Once you have defeated all the Tonberries, pick up the prize that spawns, and this trophy will unlock.

  • Reach the 80th floor of Iutycyr Tower and defeat the boss

Defeat the final boss on the 80th floor, Quattour, and this trophy will unlock. Quattour must be defeated three times, and will use Quake to attack you anywhere on the floor. Further, during his third stage, he will summon machina to also attack you. Quattour's attacks can cause confuse, so make sure you have the Confuseproof auto-ability for a smooth battle.

Last Mission may seem very challenging and offputting at first, especially if you are inexperienced with roguelike games. However, there are some very simple ways to make the game easier and more enjoyable for you in terms of gameplay. The key to success in Last Mission is what dresspheres you choose to equip, and the auto-abilities that these dresspheres will bestow upon you. The abilities that these dresspheres let you use can also be a lifesaver at times, although most of the time you will either be using regular attacks or just avoiding monsters to make it up the tower.

The character you start out as does not make much of a difference, except for her starting dressphere. Yuna begins as a Gunner, Rikku begins as a Thief, and Paine begins as a Warrior. A dresphere has its own set of stats that are added to your character's own stats that increase upon leveling up, in order to form her overall stats. A dressphere has its own HP, and when it reaches 0, the dressphere will break. It is advised to only play as one dressphere and only level up that one dressphere in order to have the highest amount of HP as you can. So for any Dressmaker folio you find, only make copies of the dressphere you are playing as and use the Dressphere Fusion folios to increase its level.

The five dresspheres I recommend using are Gun Mage, Dark Knight, White Mage, Mascot and Trainer. Using these dresspheres, the following useful auto-abilities will be bestowed upon your character:

    • Darktouch: there is a chance the enemy will get the Darkness status ailment when you physically attack it.
    • 1/2 Damage: one of the most important and useful skill of the game, it reduces the damage you take by half.
    • HP Heal Over Time: your characters is healed by 1 HP every three turns.

These abilities will carry you through the game. White Mage also gives you the ability to cast Curaga on yourself. Another option is to use Lady Luck instead of Trainer for MP Dice, which allows you to drain MP from enemies instead of using Ethers. It is also useful against Cactuar enemies, as their X-Needles ability can be deadly. The damage it causes is determined by the current floor multiplied by 10. Thus, if you are on floor 36, for example, X-Needles will cause 360 damage to you. If you are able to steal this ability from them, however, it can be a valuable tool in your arsenal. Using a Lady Luck will mean you will lose the HP Heal Over Time auto-ability. Yuna as a Trainer has an ability that Rikku and Paine do not: the ability to dig for up to five items per floor. What item Kogoro digs up is seemingly random, but you can obtain a Copycat folio if you are very lucky. This folio allows you to copy any one item in your inventory, allowing you to easily double your current dressphere's level. Digging up a Copycat folio is very rare, however.

Further, equipping a Warrior, Berserker and Psychic dressphere yields your character the Impenetrable Front auto-ability. With this auto-ability, your character is immune to damage when she is attacked from the front.

Curse and BOOM! are the most annoying traps/ailments you will encounter in the game. Curse makes an item useless; you cannot use it or move it. If it is an equipped dressphere, you cannot remove it. The only way to remove a Curse is through the Cursebreaking folio, or the Alchemist's Esuna item ability. You will know what item is cursed if there is a small purple ghost on the item's icon. BOOM! begins an invisible countdown on a random item, and once enough turns have passed, the item will be destroyed. You will know if an item has the BOOM! ailment if its icon has a small blue circle on it. BOOM! can be removed with the Alchemist's Esuna item ability. Thus, having an Alchemist dressphere in your inventory as a precaution to these ailments would be a good idea.

I recommend using the Gun Mage dressphere during the game. Dark Knight may have the highest HP value, but not only does the Gun's Mage's physical attack and magic defense increase by one for every level it gains, but it is also able to perform ranged attacks. The Gun Mage is able to attack enemies that are three squares away from it, effectively protecting her from harm unless the enemy uses magic.

Further, when you are nearing floor 44, be sure to get yourself a Thief dressphere. On floor 44, wait at the elevator until the Founder appears. When he is near you, steal an item from him. You will get the Triple Tiara accessory, which allows you to attack three times in a single turn. Paired with the Gun Mage's range, you now have a destructive character.

Always make sure to have Hope: A Memoir folios, as they bestow upon you Auto-Life and will heal your dressphere completely if it ever breaks. Save Memos are also very important if you need to save, but you can also save without a Save Memo every five floors.

When you reach the final floor of the Iutycur Tower, be advised that Quattour can cause Confuse on your character. It is recommended to replace your Trainer dressphere with the Gunner dressphere. While you will lose out on HP Heal Over Time, the Dark Knight and Gunner dresspheres will bestow upon you the Confuseproof auto-ability, effectively making the final battle much less annoying.

The elevator is sealed on every five levels of the tower, excluding in the rooms where you face a boss. The ways to unlock each elevator seal are as follows:

    • Floor 5: Defeat three fiends and perform an action. The action can be anything other than movement.
    • Floor 10: Defeat ten fiends and perform an action.
    • Floor 15: Defeat five fiends and perform an action, and drop two items. The items can be picked back up.
    • Floor 25: Defeat eight fiends and perform an action, and throw two items. The items can be picked back up.
    • Floor 30: Defeat eight fiends and perform an action, and drink any two potions.
    • Floor 35: Defeat eight fiends and perform an action, drop any three items, and fake attack three times (press and attack nothing).
    • Floor 45: Defeat eight fiends and perform an action, read any two books, and fake attack three times.
    • Floor 50: Defeat ten fiends and perform an action, and pass for five turns (press + to pass).
    • Floor 55: Defeat eight fiends and perform an action, read two books, fake attack three times, and pass for five turns.
    • Floor 65: Have the Founder appear. The Founder appears when you spend a lot of time on the floor. To do this safely, stand on the elevator and pass continuously until he appears.
    • Floor 70: Transform into a Leblanc Goon. You can either do this by reading a folio, or wait for the Founder to appear, and he will transform you into a Goon on his first move against you. To be safe, wait on the elevator until the Founder transforms you, and then use the elevator right away.
    • Floor 75: Defeat eight fiends and perform an action, drop any three items, throw any three items, fake attack five times, and pass for five turns.
    • Floor 80: There is no elevator on the 79th floor. In order to reach the 80th floor, you must have the Founder appear on the 79th floor. He will first transform you into a Leblanc Goon, then teleport you to the 77th floor. Once again, have the Founder appear, but this time, he will teleport you to the 80th floor.
