A Clean Bill of Health Trophy in Final Fantasy IX

  • A Clean Bill of Health

Have a single character affected by all status ailments (both beneficial and detrimental).

How to unlock A Clean Bill of Health

To obtain this trophy, you must be affected by all status ailments, both beneficial and detrimental. Luckily, they don't all need to be inflicted at the same time but it's very unlikely this trophy will be obtained through normal gameplay as many ailments are difficult to inflict.

The list of status ailments you must inflict, along with the easiest way to inflict them, are as follows:

    • Slow: Vivi's Slow spell
    • Sleep: Vivi's Sleep spell
    • Stop: Vivi's Stop spell
    • Poison: Vivi's Poison spell
    • Petrify: Vivi's Break spell
    • Trouble: Zidane's Annoy skill
    • Venom: Whale Zombie's Venom Breath attack (any beach on the overworld during Disc 4)
    • Zombie: Whale Zombie's Zombie Powder attack (any beach on the overworld during Disc 4)
    • Virus: Chimera's Virus Crunch attack (Memoria - Disc 4)
    • Doom: Ash's Doom spell (Memoria - Disc 4)
    • Heat: Soulcage's Mustard Bomb (Iifa tree - Disc 2), Drakan's Mustard Bomb (Desert Palace - Disc 3), Maliris' Mustard Bomb (Memoria and Crystal World - Disc 4), Tiamat's Jet Fire (Memoria and Crystal World - Disc 4)
    • Freeze: Attack with Steiner's Ice Brand with Add Status ability equipped
    • Gradual Petrify: Basilisk's Gradual Petrify attack (Burmecia)
    • Berserk: Dagger's Berserk spell
    • Confuse: Dagger's Confuse spell
    • Darkness: Dagger's Blind spell
    • Silence: Dagger or Eiko's Silence spell
    • Mini: Dagger or Eiko's Mini spell
    • Protect: Dagger or Eiko's Protect spell
    • Shell: Dagger or Eiko's Shell spell
    • Float: Dagger or Eiko's Float spell
    • Reflect: Dagger or Eiko's Reflect spell
    • Haste: Eiko's Haste spell
    • Regen: Eiko's Regen spell
    • Vanish: Quina's Vanish spell (learned from Vice located outside of Lindblum's Dragon Gate exit or from Hornet located in Gizamaluke's Grotto)
    • Auto-Life: Quina's Auto-Life spell (learned from Carrion Worm located in Cleyra's Trunk or from Gimme Cat located outside of Daguerreo)

When attempting to get afflicted with a status ailment, it is important not to have the ailment preventing ability equipped. For example: Try not have the Jelly ability equipped when trying to get afflicted with Petrify and Gradual Petrify. Also, abilities like Auto-Life, Auto-Regen, Auto-Float and Auto-Reflect do not count towards this trophy’s progress so do not equip them.

This trophy can be frustrating because most of the time, status ailments will miss your characters. However, it's not necessarily a difficult trophy so keep at it and you will eventually obtain it.

Although not confirmed, it seems that the trophy description is wrong and that all status ailments only have to be inflicted on a character in your party, rather than all on one individual.

  • This does not need to be all at once. One character just needs to get each ailment at some point in a play through. Here's a list of all of them and how to make it happen. Slow: Vivi's BLM Stop: Vivi's BLM Sleep: Vivi's BLM Virus: Yan at Vile Island (the one with the great pyramid)(Virus Powder) Venom: Whale Zombie enemy at almost any beach on disc 3/4 (Venom Breath) Freeze: Steiner's Ice Brand with Add Status Poison: Vivi's BLM (Bio) Zombie: Whale Zombie enemy at almost any beach on disc 3/4 (Zombie Powder) Berserk: Dagger's WHM Confuse: Dagger's WHM Petrify: Vivi's BLM Silence: Eiko's or Dagger's WHM Trouble: Zidane's Annoy skill Darkness: Dagger's WHM Doom: Ash enemy in Memoria - Familiar Past (Doom) Gradual Petrify: Basilisk in Burmecia (Gradual Petrify) Haste: Eiko'
  • Haste: Eiko's WHM Regen: Eiko's WHM Float: Eiko's or Dagger WHM Shell: Eiko's or Dagger's WHM Vanish: Quina's BLM (Learned from Hornet on Gizamaluke's Grotto) Protect: Eiko's or Dagger's WHM Reflect: Eiko's or Dagger's WHM Auto-Life: Quina's BLU (Learned from Gimme Cat on Palmnell Island, next to Chocobo Lagoon) Credit to Lylat for the compilation
  • I found using Zidane as your character to put all buffs/debuffs on is the best character to pick! Considerng he is in your party the whole game you can be sure he has taken most of the debuffs and some of the buffs through playing naturally. Then I found you are probably only missing; Vanish, Auto life, regen, trouble, float, shell, protect, haste and reflect
  • Quina can also use Doom and inflict it on a party member to help. I'm also having trouble getting Zombie Powder (from Whale Zombie) to stick on my Status sponge. Any ideas as to how to quicken it to work?
  • Furthermore, Steiner's Flame Saber with Add Status will give you Heat as well.
