Introduction:
Far Cry 2 is (funnily enough) the second Far Cry game, though unlike the first, was developed exclusively by Ubisoft Montreal - Crytek no longer owns the right to the Far Cry franchise. The game takes place in a fictitious modern-day East African nation in the middle of a war. The player controls a mercenary on a long quest to locate and assassinate the Jackal, a notorious arms dealer.

Earning the Platinum in Far Cry 2 is no easy feat. You'll be required to scour the map in single player for the many collectibles and side missions, whilst online you will need to spend at least 75 hours working towards the highest ranks and unlocking field manuals. This Platinum is no walk in the park - you have been warned.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete all Side Missions/Collection Trophies in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

First things first, start a game on the lowest difficulty as your choice of difficulty will not affect your trophies whatsoever. Feel free to choose a higher difficulty but you may as well make things easier for yourself. Before you advance through the story, you'll want to complete all available missions and work towards all the collection and miscellaneous trophies. This is so that you can be very well geared for the story missions, and so that you won't have to do a second playthrough for any of the collectibles. This will mostly include unlocking all the Safe Houses, completing the convoy missions, completing the assassination missions, rescuing the buddies that aren't story-related and finding all the diamonds. You will have to repeat this once you reach Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory as well.

Upon completing Step 1 you will earn:

Supply...
Lineman
Making friends
Lent a hand
Out of the frying pan...
...into the fire.
Good night sweet prince
Investigative Reporter
Wanderer
Weapon Specialist

Step 2: Complete the Story Missions and Underground Missions in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

After you've done everything to be done on Leboa-Sako, start with the story missions. While doing these, make sure to do a mission for the opposing faction for the "Playing both sides..." trophy, as well as subverting every story mission for the "The best laid plans" and "Ruthless" trophies. Also, when the underground missions become available to you, ensure you do them as soon as possible as the rewards are vital.

Upon completing Step 2 you will earn:

Bagman
Playing both sides...
The best laid plans
Ruthless
On the run
Stickin' it to the man
Down but not out

Step 3: Complete all Side Missions/Collection Trophies in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

Once again, simply complete the side missions and collect the collectibles before advancing too far through the story missions. The point of no return is when you enter the Heart of Darkness so if you haven't yet finished some of the side missions or gotten all the collectibles by the time you reach this mission, make sure to complete them before advancing into the Heart of Darkness. You'll know when you're about to enter the point of no return as you will receive an on-screen message saying something akin to this: "The area ahead is treacherous and difficult to traverse and cannot be returned from".

Upon completing Step 3 you will earn:

...and demand.
Utility Man
The third faction
Dr Livingston, I presume
Wages of Conflict
Pulitzer material
Orienteer
Weapons Expert

Step 4: Complete the Story Missions and Underground Missions in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

Now that you should have everything out of the way, simply complete the remaining story missions, once again remembering to do a mission for the opposing faction for the "...against the middle" trophy and subverting every story mission for the "Cold Blooded" trophy. Once again, complete the Underground missions as they unlock through progression.

Upon completing Step 4, you will earn:

Messenger
...against the middle
Cold Blooded
Dawa ya moto ni moto
Prison escape
Last man standing
Heart of Darkness
The horror... the horror...

Step 5: Reaching Rank 20 and earning all Field Manuals in Ranked Match

Here's the biggest grind of the game: reaching Rank 20 for "Mercenary" and earning all field manuals for "Soldier of Misfortune". Using the boosting methods listed under the "Soldier of Misfortune" trophy, this should take anywhere between 75-100 hours. Try and get all the miscellaneous online trophies out of the way whilst doing this step, including the two Map Editor trophies. Make sure to re-host the lobby every 4-5 matches to avoid server errors, as this can get very frustrating when it occurs. See "Soldier of Misfortune" for more details on such errors.

NOTE: The Far Cry 2 servers are particularly unstable and can crash and cause you to lose progress if you play too many rounds back to back. Because of this it is highly recommended you re-host the boosting lobby every 3-4 rounds to avoid losing any progress. This applies to every online trophy, with the exception of the "Mapper" and "Adventurer" trophies.

Not only are the servers unstable, they are also incredibly glitchy. Alongside experiencing potential loss of ranks, you may experience glitches such as players falling through floors, downed players moving when being revived, to even being completely unable to revive a downed player. While these glitches aren't especially detrimental, they can still cause problems.

Also note that changing your PSN ID will wipe all of your MP stats and delete your uploaded maps so change it either before or after getting the - not in the middle of trying to get it.

Upon completing Step 5 you will earn:

Superior Captain
Best in Class
War Party
Upgraded Player
Safari Tour
Battle Hardened
First Response Team
Field Hospital
Hired Gun
Professional
Mercenary
Soldier of Misfortune
Mapper
Adventurer

Step 6: Reaching Rank 30 in Ranked Match

Lastly, there's reaching Rank 30 for the "Warlord" trophy. Normally this could take 400+ hours of boosting to achieve but thankfully there is a glitch that will save you this time. See the "Warlord" trophy for details on this glitch.

Upon completing Step 6 you will earn:

Warlord

Which will ultimately unlock:

  • Earn the highest honors

Congratulations, your guts are made of Iron! You really should be dead...! Also, see here for additional info (credit to Terminator for this: LINK)
  • Kill a Faction Captain in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon killing your first Faction Captain during the story missions.
  • Aquire all conflict diamonds in the game available through payment or exploration

    Missable and Glitched.

The main collectibles in Far Cry 2 are conflict diamonds. There are 1,000 of these diamonds in the game and they are obtained through three methods: Story Missions, Assassination Missions and Diamond Briefcases. Whenever you're going to attempt an Assassination Mission, save beforehand to ensure you don't miss it and collect all conflict diamonds scattered throughout the territories before advancing to ensure you don't miss any conflict diamonds whatsoever. Do note that Diamond Briefcases will only open if you open them from the handle-side.

Do note that you can return to the Northern Territory after reaching the Southern Territory (as long as you follow the road), so you will be able to return to collect any Diamond Briefcases you may have missed.

The conflict diamond breakdown is as follows:

Conflict diamonds in Leboa-Sako - The Northern Territory
    • Main Story Missions - 120
    • Assassination Missions - 60
    • Diamond Briefcases - 200
    • Total - 380
Conflict diamonds in Bowa-Seko - The Southern Territory (The Central Desert included)
    • Main Story Missions - 330
    • Assassination Missions - 90
    • Diamond Briefcases - 200
    • Total - 620
Credit to ctj417 for these values.

For full maps (with provided sector maps) that show the locations of diamonds, jackal tapes, cellular antennas and safe houses, check the link below. Credit goes to Terminator for providing it and Przemek "G40st" Zamecki of GamePressure for creating them.

    Leboa-Sako - The Northern Territory
    Bowa-Seka - The Southern Territory

NOTE: Several people have reported this trophy glitching on them and not unlocking after collecting all 1,000 diamonds when playing on the PSN version of the game. It doesn't seem to occur very often but do be aware of this if you intend to play the PSN version of the game.
  • Save a Buddy from captivity

Throughout the game there are 11 Buddies that you can rescue, 7 of which will be story-related. Simply advance through the story or rescue one of the ones listed for the "The third faction" trophy.
  • Work with a Buddy to subvert a mission offered by a faction

    Missable.

See "Ruthless" or "Cold Blooded" for more details.
  • Find all the Safe Houses in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

    Missable.

For locations of the Northern Safe Houses, see Leboa-Sako - The Northern Territory under "Wages of Conflict".

Do note that you have to actually unlock the respective safe house for it to count, simply finding it will not count. You will know when it is unlocked as you will receive the messages "You have unlocked a Safe House" and "You can now save at this Safe House".
  • Find all the Safe Houses in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

    Missable.

For locations of the Southern Safe Houses, see Bowa-Seko - The Southern Territory under "Wages of Conflict".

Do note that you have to actually unlock the respective Safe House for it to count, simply finding it will not count. You will know when it is unlocked, as you will receive the messages "You have unlocked a Safe House" and "You can now save at this Safe House".
  • Turn over the first set of the Jackal's audio logs to the Journalist

    Missable.

The first set of audio logs include the eight found throughout the Northern Territory and the one given to you at the beginning. Once you collect all nine bring them to the Journalist at Mike's Bar. Do note that the Journalist will disappear after you first speak to him and won't reappear until you have all nine audio logs.

For locations of the Jackal's audio logs, see Leboa-Sako - The Northern Territory under "Wages of Conflict" or see these sector maps courtesy of Przemek "G40st" Zamecki of GamePressure. See Pulitzer material for a location Guide.
  • Complete all the available Underground side-quests in both the North and the South

    Missable and Glitched.

This trophy is glitched but in a good way. The trophy may unlock before you complete all the Underground missions, thus meaning you needn't finish the rest.

There are a total of seven Underground side-quests, 3 in the North Territory and 4 in the South Territory. Simply advancing through missions should trigger these so long as you are aware of missions and events unlocking, you shouldn't have to worry about missing this.
  • Unlock new weapons by hitting a Convoy

    Missable.

See "...and demand." for more details.
  • Escape the Town

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon escaping the Town in the very first mission.
  • Escape to Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon reaching Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory.
  • Purchase the manuals and acquire the bandolier for one weapon

    Missable and Glitched.

All the diamonds you earn throughout the game can be used to buy and upgrade weapons. In order to unlock this you must buy a weapon from a Gun shop, as well as its Accuracy, Reliability and Ammo upgrades.

NOTE: Several people have reported this trophy glitching on them and not unlocking after upgrading their weapons when playing on the PSN version of the game. It doesn't seem to occur very often but do be aware of this if you intend to play the PSN version of the game.
  • Deliver stamped travel documents to the Underground in exchange for medicine

    Missable.

To do this you must complete an Underground Mission, which should unlock eventually through natural progression. Once unlocked fulfil the requirements to receive both the trophy and Anti-Malaria medication.
  • Complete a Mission intercepted from a cellular tower signal

    Missable.

See "Utility Man" for more details.
  • Break the ceasefire and reignite the conflict

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon breaking the ceasefire early on in Bowa-Seko.
  • Complete a Buddy side quest

    Missable.

Once you reach Mike's Bar after the first mission you'll meet a few Buddies who can offer you side quests. These will be simple tasks for no noticeable reward. Just complete one of these for the trophy. Although not necessary to do more than one Buddy side quest, doing more will reward you with upgrades at your Safe House after you subvert a mission.
  • Get rescued by a Buddy

    Missable.

For a Buddy to rescue you, you must have a buddy who is rescue ready. To do this go to a Safe House and a Buddy will offer assistance, press to accept. Now that a Buddy is rescue ready, simply lose all your health and they will come and rescue you.
  • Enter every 1 square kilometer map region of the world

    Missable.

There are a total of 19 square kilometer quadrants throughout the game - 9 in the Northern Territory, 9 in the Southern Territory and 1 in the Central Desert. Chances are you'll enter each quadrant through natural progression and completing side missions, but if not you will unlock it while working towards "Wages of Conflict".
  • Turn over all of the Jackal's audio logs to the Journalist

    Missable.

The second set of audio logs include the eight found throughout the Southern Territory. Once you collect all eight, bring them to the Journalist at the Marina. Do note that the Journalist will disappear after you first speak to him and won't reappear until you have seven of the eight audio logs.

For the locations of the Jackal's audio logs, see Bowa-Seko - The Southern Territory under "Wages of Conflict" or see these sector maps courtesy of Przemek "G40st" Zamecki of GamePressure. Credit to OdebGaming for the video:

NOTE: The second set of audio logs are glitched in that after the 10th audio log, the rest will all repeat the same message plus they will not appear in your list of collected tapes, thus making it slightly harder to keep track of them but won't affect the outcome of the trophy.
  • Purchase the manuals and acquire the bandoliers for every weapon

    Missable.

There are a total of 28 weapons that must be purchased from weapon shops, along with their Accuracy, Reliability and Ammo upgrades. In order to buy all the weapons and their respective upgrades, you'll need a significant portion of the 1,000 conflict diamonds in the game. If you're going for "Wages of Conflict" you will have enough to buy all the weapons and upgrades, as well as all the optional upgrades such as the repair upgrades. This means you won't have to worry about locking yourself out of the trophy.
  • Switch sides in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

    Missable.

After completing a mission for either faction while in the North Territory, head to the opposing faction's leader to get the next mission, then complete it for the trophy to pop. If you did a mission for the APR then head to the UFLL for your next mission. If you did a mission for the UFLL then head to the APR for your next mission.
  • Switch sides in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

    Missable.

After completing a mission for either faction while in the South Territory, head to the opposing faction's leader to get the next mission then complete it for the trophy to pop. If you did a mission for the APR then head to the UFLL for your next mission. If you did a mission for the UFLL then head to the APR for your next mission.
  • Unlock all weapons by hitting every Convoy

    Missable.

After completing the first mission you'll gain access to Convoy Missions of which there are eight - 4 in Leboa-Sako and 4 in Bowa-Seko. Completing these missions as soon as possible is highly recommended as the weaponry you receive from them can prove invaluable for later missions. Once you locate a Convoy (only the truck needs to be destroyed), it can be destroyed by using an RPG-7, Carl-Gustav or the M-79 Grenade Launcher to destroy it swiftly.

Do note that upon completing all the Convoy Missions in a respective territory, the Arms Dealer will disappear from the Gun Shops.
  • Escape torture at the old slave outpost

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon escaping the old slave outpost part way through the Bowa-Seko story missions.

If you're having difficulty with escaping, you simply have to press on the oddly coloured part of the wall to the right of the door. The trophy will pop when you escape past the old slave outpost.
  • Wipe out the senior leadership of both Factions and determine who will be the new Warlords

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon killing the Faction Leaders towards the end of the story missions.
  • Save a Buddy from a mortal wound

    Missable.

Your Buddies have three lives meaning they can be saved from a mortal wound 3 times before dying. Whenever a Buddy is taken down walk up to them and use the syrette to save him from his mortal wound, thus earning you the trophy.

For an easy method to attain both this and "Good night sweet prince", please see the method below, courtesy of Terminator:

For "...into the fire." and "Good night sweet prince" there is a quick way to get both trophies and that is to Subvert a mission but when you get to final phase where you have to defend your Buddy against the enemy, don't come to his/her aid and eventually they will fall. After your Buddy is down and has deployed their smoke, quickly kill all the enemies and then save when prompted. Once you have saved go to your Buddy and either heal or kill them, then reload and do the action you didn't do.
  • Rescue all the Buddies from their respective predicaments

    Missable and Glitched.

Throughout the game there'll be 11 Buddies that you can rescue. 6 of the 11 can be located in the North Territory, whereas the last 5 can be located in the South Territory. Below are the locations for the 11 buddies. Seven rescued Buddies are story related, therefore you cannot miss them. This trophy is glitched but thankfully it is in a good way as sometimes the trophy may unlock before rescuing all the Buddies, in which case you needn't rescue anymore unless you really want to.

    For quadrant locations, see below:

  • Subvert all the main faction missions in Leboa-Sako - the Northern Territory

    Missable.

When doing Story Missions, you'll sometimes get the option to subvert the mission when one of your buddies contact you. In order to subvert the mission you must follow the blue marker objectives that appear after your buddy contacts you. While in Leboa-Sako you'll have the chance to subvert six missions - make sure at least one buddy is alive to be able to subvert.

The trophy description is slightly misleading as not all missions can be subverted. The last mission that can be subverted for the trophy is the fourth from last mission in the Northern Territory.
  • Subvert all the main faction missions in Bowa-Seko - the Southern Territory

    Missable.

When doing Story Missions you'll sometimes get the option to subvert the mission when one of your buddies contact you. In order to subvert the mission, you must follow the blue marker objectives that appear after your buddy contacts you. While in Bowa-Seko you'll have the chance to subvert six missions - make sure at least one buddy is alive to be able to subvert.

The trophy description is slightly misleading, as not all missions can be subverted. The last mission that can be subverted for the trophy is the fourth from last mission in the Southern Territory. Do note that for the last mission that you need to subvert, you won't receive the option to subvert until after you complete the first task, rather than receiving the option immediately.
  • Complete all Missions intercepted from cellular tower signals

    Missable.

After completing the first mission you'll be able to complete Assassination Missions by intercepting signals at cellular towers. There are 6 of these missions in each territory for a total of 12. When close to a cellular tower you will be able to intercept signals and learn the location of Assassination targets. Kill the target by any means necessary to be rewarded with some diamonds. Do be aware that if you don't answer the cellphone or you cancel the conversation (through a action) before receiving the mission, you will have to reload your save in order to receive it as you will only get one chance to accept each respective mission.

Also, you don't have to visit each individual cellular tower to receive these missions as they can all be received from the same cellular tower for each territory (if you really want to that is).

It has been reported that near the end of the game, current Assassination Missions will become unavailable. Therefore, it is recommended you do them as soon as they become available.

NOTE: Make sure you save before attempting an Assassination Mission. You'll only receive one chance to do these missions, so you'll want to ensure you don't miss any. If you fail simply reload and try again.
  • Comfort a Buddy and ease his passing

    Missable.

Like with "...into the fire.", you must allow a buddy to go down to do this. When given the option to use a syrette to save them, press to change to your sidearm. Use this to put them out of their misery and unlock this trophy. If you have no syrette left then your only option is to mercy kill them.

For an easy method to attain both this and "...into the fire.", please see the method below, courtesy of Terminator:

For "...into the fire." and "Good night sweet prince" there is a quick way to get both trophies and that is to Subvert a mission but when you get to final phase where you have to defend your Buddy against the enemy, don't come to his/her aid and eventually they will fall. Once you have saved go to your Buddy and either heal or kill them, then reload and do the action you didn't do.
  • Enter the Heart of Darkness

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon entering the Heart of Darkness during the final story mission.
  • Resolve your conflict with the Jackal to facilitate the exodus

Story-related, cannot be missed. You will earn this upon completing the final story mission, thus completing the game.
  • Get highest revives count in a ranked match

Pressing during a game will show you the scoreboard, on which you can see your revive count. Have the highest count of all the players to get this. You will most definitely get this at some stage during "Field Hospital" while farming 500 revives.
  • Reach Rank 5 (Ranked Match)

    Rank 5 requires 2,100 XP.

See "Soldier of Misfortune" for more details on boosting XP.
  • Win a round as the Captain in Uprising mode (Ranked Match)

In the mode "Uprising" one player on each team will be randomly selected to be the Captain for the entirety of the match, unless they get voted out of the role. If you get selected as Captain, simply win the round by capturing all three points and killing the opposing Captain. If you're boosting then you'll always be Captain whenever you boost 1v1 so simply win a boosting match to get it.
  • Get highest xp total in one match (Ranked Match)

As the description says, you must have the highest xp total of any player in a Ranked Match. If you want to do it legitimately, just try get as many kills whilst focusing on the objectives. If boosting then you'll get this in one of your first matches.
  • Win a match with 16 players (Ranked Match)

This can be a bit frustrating to earn. Trying to do so without boosting is near impossible, as not only is finding a full game of 16 players extremely difficult, it's even harder to play an entire match without a single player dropping out. Because of this it is highly recommended that you boost this, doing so will require a lot of co-operation and co-ordination as getting 16 people to show up at the same time isn't easy.

For boosting partners please see this thread: War Party Trophy Boosting.
  • Upgrade one class 3 times (Ranked Match)

Whenever you go up a Rank, you will receive a diamond. These diamonds are used to upgrade a class to gain access to better weaponry. Doing so three times with any one class will unlock this.
  • Play at least one full round in every Official Map (Ranked Match)

    Glitched.

As the title says, you simply must play a full round on every official Ubisoft map in Ranked Match. This can be boosted with a friend, simply host a Ranked Match and ban anyone you don't want in the game (to ban a player, press from the lobby, then select the player you want to ban with then select "Ban"), then finish the round as quickly as possible. Cycle through the maps as necessary. The trophy should unlock on the summary screen after completing the last map or when transitioning back to the lobby immediately afterwards.

    The official Ubisoft maps are:
    • Dirty Work
    • Last Bastion
    • Pit Bull
    • Love Shacks
    • Mud Maze
    • Cut Bait
    • Riot Control
    • Coup D'Etat
    • Rumble Strip
    • Rusty Beef
    • Far Cry
    • Crude Awakening
    • Clear Cut
    • Sand Blasted
NOTE: This trophy is glitched because having the Fortune Pack DLC installed will negate maps from being counted as played, thus stopping you from unlocking it. To fix this you must delete the DLC and the profile data file, then re-do the above maps without the DLC installed.
  • Play at least one full round in every Game Mode (Ranked Match)

Similar to "Safari Tour" except with the official Ubisoft modes. There are only four modes and these can be done alongside the maps when working towards "Safari Tour". The trophy should unlock on the summary screen after completing the last map or when transitioning back to the lobby immediately afterwards.

    The modes are:
    • Deathmatch
    • Team Deathmatch
    • Capture the Diamond
    • Uprising
  • Reach Rank 10 (Ranked Match)

    Rank 10 requires 15,000 XP.

See "Soldier of Misfortune" for more details on boosting XP.
  • Reach Rank 20 (Ranked Match)

    Rank 20 requires 250,000 XP.

See "Soldier of Misfortune" for more details on boosting XP.
  • Get 500 revives (Ranked Match)

If you're boosting then 500 revives really isn't all that many. To boost this you will need at least 3 players including yourself. Start a Ranked Match with the following settings: Uprising - Last Bastion - Hardcore Mode: On - Respawn: 5 Seconds. With that, have two players - the Sheep and Medic - join the Red Team, and have the third player - the Killer - join the Yellow Team. Have all three meet up under the wooden frame alongside the side of the central building, then have the Killer take down the Sheep. The Medic will then revive him and repeat the process. Rotate roles every round or halfway through each round if you so wish. If done correctly you can get 150 revives in a single round through this method.

Another good method can be done with only two players. Create a custom game on any map with any team mode, set Friendly Fire to On, have your boosting buddy join, start the game then alternate between killing and reviving each other. Do note that your weapons will degrade and eventually break which ever method you use, in which case you'll have to either die and respawn or start using your Machete by pressing . Credit to Terminator for this boosting method and tip.

NOTE: This method will not earn you kills, only revives. If you want to earn both simultaneously then use the 3-Player method.
  • Achieve Rank 30 (Ranked Match)

Rank 30 requires 1,500,000 XP, which done legitimately can take 400+ hours to achieve. Luckily there is a saving grace: the Warlord glitch. Essentially this is a glitch that allows you to go into negative XP and trick the servers into believing you're Rank 0, which for some reason will shoot you up to Rank 30 thus netting you this trophy. This is how it's done (Credit to Sammy_Simmons for originally discovering this glitch):

Step 1: Have a friend host a Ranked Match (Uprising - Last Bastion - Hardcore Mode: On - Respawn: 5 Seconds)
Step 2: Play one round and earn at least 1,500 XP and end the round. This is vital, as it will "throw off" the servers.
Step 3: In the Lobby add one diamond to any weapon slot.
Step 4: During the Class Select menu at the beginning of the next round, remove the diamond by pressing . Doing so will de-rank you by one rank and subtract one diamond from your total.
Step 5: Have your friend end the round by capturing the three points and killing you.
Step 6: Repeat Steps 3-5 until you have no diamonds left. Make sure your friend re-hosts the lobby every 3-4 rounds, as any more than that and you will receive a server message and lose the progress you made during that session.
Step 7: Once you have no diamonds left quit the game to the XMB via the button. Your friend must remain in the Lobby.
Step 8: Get into Far Cry 2 again and rejoin your friend's lobby. If done correctly, you should now be Rank 30.

This can be done at any Rank but do note that doing this glitch will only unlock the "Warlord" trophy. You will still need to rank up to Rank 20 yourself. For boosting partners please see this thread: Trophy Boosting Thread.

NOTE: Make sure you haven't placed all of your diamonds in slots before doing this. The servers will generally reset your diamonds to your 'Bank' every few hours so leave the game for 24 hours before doing this to allow the servers to reset your diamonds. If you're having trouble resetting your diamonds then please see this thread on PSNP: How to Reset Diamonds.

Also note that changing your PSN ID before getting this or any other MP trophy, will wipe your stats and force you to start over from scratch.
  • Unlock field manuals for all weapons (Ranked match)

Here we have one of the two big grind trophies of Far Cry 2. In order to do this you must fulfil the requirements of all three manual types for every weapon in Ranked. Overall this is about 9,000 kills. The exact requirements for each manual can be seen on my weapon chart below. Completing all the field manuals through boosting will roughly take you to Rank 20 for "Mercenary", which depending on your boosting efficiency should take anywhere between 75-100 hours.

As the host of Ranked Matches you can ban anyone you don't want in the game by pressing from the lobby, then select the player you want to ban with then selecting "Ban". This can also be done during a game by going to the scoreboard with , then following the same process. Banning random players is recommended during boosting sessions as they will likely disturb and disrupt your session.

NOTE: Headshots don't count as kills, therefore you will not be able to grind kills and headshots simultaneously. Executions will count when you finish of an enemy who is bleeding out (collapsed on the ground after being attacked) but headshotting a downed enemy will not count as a headshot.

Now that you now what you're required to do, here are a few boosting methods which will come in handy:

All boosting sessions should be done under these game settings:
    • Ranked Match
    • Game Mode: Uprising
    • Map: Last Bastion
    • Hardcore Mode: On (Bullets deal more damage)
    • Respawn Time: 5 Seconds
2-Player Kill Boosting: This is just your typical kill-for-a-kill boosting. Get your weapon of choice and meet up in the middle and kill your partner. It is fastest if you kill your partner 10 times, then reverse roles. Doing this, you can both get up to 35 kills each round, depending on your weapon. During this method, it is recommended to restart the Lobby every four rounds as that way both players will get two rounds with each Lobby.

3-Player Kill/Revive Boosting: With three players, you can boost kills a lot faster than you can with two players - except the most efficient method will only rack up kills, not executions or headshots. Whoever is Killer for the round should be on the Yellow Team whilst the other two players (Sheep and Medic) should be on the Red Team. All three players should meet up either at the crates in front of the Red Team spawn or against the wall of the building beneath the wooden frame. Then the Killer kills the Sheep and lets the Medic revive him. Repeat this to get many kills for the Killer and many revives for the Medic - it's possible to get as many as 150 kills/revives in one round. After each round rotate roles so everyone get a fair go. During this method it is recommended to restart the Lobby every three rounds, as that way each players will get a round as the killer each Lobby.

Multikill Boosting: This is similar to the 3-Player Kill/Revive Boosting in that the Killer will be on the Yellow Team whilst the two Sheep will be on the Red Team. Both Sheep should stand inside the building in the centre at the base of the stairs, whilst the Killer stands opposite them. Then with the explosive of choice, the Killer kills both Sheep to get a Multikill. Repeat and rotate each round. It is possible to get 120 kills/60 Multi-kills in one round, depending on your weapon and co-operation. During this method, it is recommended to restart the lobby every three rounds, as that way each players will get a round as the killer each Lobby.

For boosting partners, please see this thread: Trophy Boosting Thread.

NOTE: When boosting, make sure to re-host the game every 3-4 matches. This is because the Far Cry 2 servers are particularly unstable, so playing any more than 3-4 matches in a row will likely result in a server error, which will kick you out of your lobby and won't allow you to rejoin any Lobbies, plus all progress you made during that session will be lost. If this does happen you will have to quit out and restart the game, either via the XMB or the faster method which is going to the FC2 web page via the in-game Exclusive Content link. This can be found through Additional Content from the Main Menu. In the spoiler below are a few photos that show you how to get to the Exclusive Content page to quick-reboot. • Create a map and get it validated in all game modes

One of the interesting features of Far Cry 2 is the ability to create your own maps. From the main menu, go to Map Community and select Map Editor. Once in the editor, press and look under Validation to see the requirements for each game mode. Simply fulfil each and every requirement for all four game modes, then save your map. It will be validated in all four game modes and reward you with the trophy. Below is a photo of what a fully validated map should look like. Credit to Terminator for the photo.

  • Download and rate 25 usermaps

This can be a bit tedious but it is an easy silver trophy nonetheless. From the main menu go to Map Community and select Download New Maps. Download 25 different maps, then create a Player Match. From here add 15 of the maps to the map cycle then start it. Whenever you're in the lobby just Force Launch the game to start immediately, then Cancel Match once the match begins. Once you get to the summary screen, press , or then to rate the map out of 5 stars. Do this for the first 15 maps, then repeat the same for the last 10. You won't have to re-host your lobby every 3-4 matches when you do this, as server crashes don't tend to occur in Player Matches.

To make things easier for yourself and to speed things up, only download maps that are validated for DM (Deathmatch) as Deathmatch is the default setting when you create a Player Match. Credit to Terminator for this tip.
