Step 1 - Evaluation Test:
New to F1 2014, after getting rid of the Young Driver Test is the Evaluation Test. This sees you in a three lap race around Monza against the AI. The way it works is that you drive around trying to beat the AI. If you finish 1st or 2nd, you're recommended the difficulty one higher than what you did the Evaluation Test on. Finish in 3rd and you're recommended the same difficulty, any lower and you're recommended one down. I recommend you choose hard for this, that'll give you breathing space to finish the race, and you just have to finish 3rd. You're able to choose what driving aids you use. But sometimes it will recommend you "Custom". If this happens, play around with the assists and it should eventually recommend you Hard. Don't forget to use a flashback while you're driving around, this will also net you the "Back in Time trophy.
The trophies that you will be earning in this step are:
It's Really Easy!
Hardcore Racer
Back In Time
Step 2 - Career:
You will be getting a lot of your trophies in this game mode. There are no difficulty related trophies for you to deal with, so put it on whatever difficulty you want. Even on easy (We won't judge you, promise ).
Unlike last year, you're able to choose whatever team you want for Career. I recommend you choose Mercedes, as they are easily the fastest team in the game, you will most likely be getting 1-2 finishes every race. You need to do at least one race weekend on the "Long Race Weekend" so you can get the trophy "Eat My Dust for setting the fastest time in every session (Practice, Q1, 2 and 3, and winning the race).
New for this year is the ability to choose between a Short, Medium and Long Length Careers, you have to complete a Career in each one to get all of the trophies.
Season 1 - Long Career
This Career is where you'll be getting most of your Career related trophies. The Long Career consists of 19 races. You will want to do the first race set to Long Race Weekend, if you set the fastest time in each session, you will get the "Eat My Dust" trophy, you will also get the "The First Step" "Career Focussed" "Leader Of The Pack" and the "The Long Road" trophies in the same weekend. For the second race of the Career, you will want to start the race in last place. You then need to win the race from that position for the "Zero To Hero" trophy. You'll also want to make a Mid-Session Save during this race to get the "I'll Be Back"trophy.
You can then carry on like normal for the rest of the Career, until you reach the German Grand Prix, this is where you will get your first team offer. The trophy "Jumping Ship" will pop once you accept the offer. If you want to stick with your current team, there is a little trick you can do with the Autosave. From the Main Menu, go to "My F1" > "Driver Information" > Driver Details. When you're there, there will be an option for turning off Autosave, turn it off, then return to your Career. Once you accept the offer and get the trophy, reset the game when you're done and you'll be back with your original team.
Make sure, during your Career, to make a custom setup, this can be done from the Garage Menu, select the little cog icon, then it will take you to the car setup screen. Win the next race and you'll get the "Fine Tuned" trophy.
There should be no issues from this point onwards, so get to the end of the season for the "Full House" "Constructors' World Champion" and the "Grand Prix Legend" trophies.
I'll Be Back
Fine Tuned
The Long Road
Eat My Dust
The First Step
Career Focussed
Leader Of The Pack
Zero To Hero
Jumping Ship
Long Haul Driver
Grand Prix Legend
Full House
Constructors' World Champion
Season 2 - Medium Career
You won't be getting as many trophies in the next two steps, because you should of got them all in the Long Career playthrough. The Medium Career is just 12 races long, so it shouldn't take too long. You only need to win the Drivers Championship this time, so don't worry about your team-mate. If you want to get through this as quick as possible, you can put the qualifying on One-Shot Qualifying. This will just be a single lap, rather than a 15 minute Qualifying or the Full three sessions.
Mid-distance Driver
The Dirty Dozen
Season 3 - Short Career
Same tactices as the Medium Length Career, only this time it's 7 races. Again, you only need to win the Drivers Championship.
Short Haul Driver
Lucky 7
Step 3 - Season Challenge:
There are two different ways you can approach your Season Challenge playthrough. The first one is for the quicker players, the second is for players who are not so good at the game. I will be going through both ways for Season Challenge.
Season 1
This season is where you'll be staying with your starting team and going for the Championship. When you start Season Challenge, you'll want to select the Hard difficulty. This will leave you with just Caterham and Marussia to choose from. Yu'll want to stick with the team you choose for the entire season for the "Home Sweet Home" trophy. You can also get the "Domination" trophy knocked out of the way by beating 4 rivals. Once you beat a rival, do NOT accept the offer from the team, press the button to reject the offer. If you accept it will lock you out of the "Home Sweet Home" trophy. You also need to make sure you beat each rival 2-0, there aren't enough races too beat each rival 2-1.
You also want to take pole position somewhere in this step. The default Qualifying format is the One-Shot Qualifying. Once you take pole, you'll get the "Now Or Never" and the "One Shot At Glory" trophies (If you didn't get them in Step 2)
Your main objective in this Season is to win the Championship. Once it's impossible for you to lose the championship, you'll get the "Doing It The Hard Way" "Well Seasoned" and "Challenge Completed" trophies.
Now Or Never
One Shot At Glory
One Down
Domination
Home Sweet Home
Challenge Completed
Well Seasoned
Doing It The Hard Way
Season 2
This step is where you want to be accepting offers after beating your Rivals. Each rival battle is the best of three races, but you want to beat them 2-0, because It's only a 10 race Season. There aren't any difficulty related trophies, so stick it on whatever difficulty you want. After you've accepted your first driver offer, you'll want to save up and go and turn off Autosave. You can do this from the Main Menu, Go to "My F1" > "Driver Information" > Driver Details. When you're there, there will be an option for turning it off. Once you've got it turned off, return to you Season Challenge. Once there, you'll want to select your next rival from somebody at your previous team. You'll want to beat them 2-0 to get an offer from that team. Accept that offer and you'll get the Reunion trophy. Once the trophy pops, you'll want to reset the game and turn Autosave back on. Return to Season Challenge and you should be back at the point of selecting your rival. Carry on as normal, beating all of the rivals until you reach the end. You wil get the "Playing The Field" trophy along the way.
Reunion
Playing The Field
Alternate Step 3 - Season Challenge
This step is for players who aren't as quick at the game, so will struggle to win the Championship with one of the lower teams.
Season 1
This is the season where you want to go for the Hard Championship. You still have to start as Marussia or Caterham. But you can change team during the course of the season. When you start, you will be asked to choose a rival. You'll want to choose somebody you're comfortable in beating, so start with the mid-field teams and work upwards. You'll still need to race for 5 different teams in this step, so don't make too many big steps. I recommend going Lotus>Toro Rosso>McLaren>Red Bull>Mercedes. Once you've raced for all of these teams, you'll get the "Playing The Field" trophy. During this time, you'll also want to use the Autosave trick and return to your starting team (As detailed in the previous step) for the "Reunion" trophy.
If you've done everything right, make a push for the Championship. The trophy will pop once it's impossible for you to lose the Championship.
Now or Never
One Shot At Glory
One Down
Domination
Reunion
Playing The Field
Challenge Completed
Well Seasoned
Doing It The Hard Way
Season 2
This season will be simple enough, just go through a whole season with your starting team, Season challenge would only take 1 season if they didn't have this trophy. You don't even have to finish every race. Just get to the end of the season.
Home Sweet Home
Step 4 - Proving Grounds:
Being the same as last years game, there are three different game modes for you to choose from. Scenario, Time Attack and Time Trial.
Scenario mode gives you four different difficulties, Very Easy, Easy, Medium and Hard, there are 5 Scenarios in each. The Very Easy and Easy only give you Bronze medals, Medium only gives Silvers and Hard gives you Gold. If you need help with any of the Scenarios, check out the individual Trophy Guides for each difficulty.
The First Of Many?
Bronzed
Age of Bronze
Silverado
Gold Run
Time Attack gives you 6 different events where you have to set the fastest time you can. You'll want to go for Gold Medal straight away, they are much easier than in Last Years game, you will get the "Ghost Buster" trophy once you have all Golds. Just make sure you set a valid lap, otherwise it will not count.
It's About Time
Time Lord
Ghost Buster
Time Trial gives you all 19 tracks to choose from. You only need to do 10 of them for the "Mr Consistent" trophy. Just make sure to set a valid time, otherwise they will not count towards the trophy.
Squeaky Clean
Mr Consistent
Step 5 - Multiplayer:
You need to complete 50 online races to get most of the online trophies, You can get this in any online game-mode. The quickest way you can get through them is by doing sprint races. These are only 3 lap races, so will take you about 5 minutes. If you get taken out by anyone, don't rage quit, otherwise the race will not count to your tally.
Get Yourself Connected
Stay Connected
Always Connected
For the Co-Op, there is only a single trophy this year. This is winning the Drivers Or the Contructor's Championship, so you and your parter will get the trophy at the same time. So you'll only need a single playthrough. You'll want to focus on getting 1-2 finishes in every race. Or if you're feeling confident you won't end your own race, have a player drop back to take out some AI controlled cars.
If you need a partner for the Co-Op, make a visit to the Trophy Boosting Thread (Read First Post!)
Better Together
Step 6 - Misc/Clean Up:
You can use this step to pick up any trophies you might have missed.
There are only two trophies I haven't been over so far, these are the "Purist and the "A Game Of Two Halves" trophies.
The "Purist" trophy requires you to win a race with all driving aids disabled, the best track you can do this on is Austria, It's a short track and It's VERY easy to learn as there are only 8 corners. The driving aids you want for this are:
Braking Assist - Off
ABS - Off
Steering Assist - Off
Traction Control - Off
Dynamic Racing Line - Off
Gearbox - Manual
Pit Assist - Off
You also want to make sure you have the race set to 3 laps with Easy difficulty AI.
The "A Game Of Two Halves" trophy requires you to have an extra controller. If you own a PS4 controller, that will work, but it has to be a wired connection to your PS3.
The settings you want for Split Screen are:
Race Distance - 3 laps
AI Drivers - Off
This will just be the cars or track so drive around how you want.
