Introduction/Walkthrough:

Welcome to Skyrim, the biggest RPG of the year and one of the most rewarding experiences you're ever likely to have on consoles. Let’s get started!

You want a Platinum Trophy from this game, huh?

Prepare yourself for a long and arduous ride. It's not a hard trophy list in any way, shape or form but there are a few trophies that could take you anywhere in the region of 150-200 hours – namely the level 50 trophy. Everything else will come along the way if you do all the main questlines and visit a ton of places.

So, you want two Platinum Trophies?

Well aren't you in luck because there is an additional trophy list for the PS4 version. If you want to run this marathon again, have at it because you can!!

Where do I start?

The truth is, you can start wherever the hell you want. If you want to start by doing the main questline, go ahead. If you want to start by doing the Thieves Guild, carry on. What I would say though is that when you’re working through the game and whatever else you do around Skyrim, keep one eye on a few of the cumulative trophies (like collecting 100,000 gold, reading 50 skill books and picking 50 pockets & 50 locks), other than that, just do what you want and consult this guide when you need more guidance on how and when to do something.

Oh and remember to persuade, bribe, and intimidate someone whilst in game… theoretically, if you do hundreds of quests, only sticking to one, you could miss this. Supremely unlikely, but true.

NOTE: Now, I’m not sure what happens if you kill a major questline giver, like the leader of the Thieves Guild or the leader of the Dark Brotherhood or even if you can, so try not to. The Radiant Storytelling system should offer new quest givers, but we didn't find ourselves in that position.

What about those missable trophies?

Oblivion Walker, for getting 15 Daedric artefacts is the only one missable, which we discovered after extensive testing. This is basically because in these 16 quests you need to obtain the artefact in 15 of them, and some of them you can come away without it. So take heed and keep an eye on these artefacts - anything that involves a shrine or some other-worldly spirit of power, take heed. There are only a handful of those that result in no Daedric artefact, but you only need to get 2 wrong and you're out of luck.

Additionally see the War Hero trophy for information on it being potentially missable.

4/4/2013 Update: Because of recent patches, the issue with The One With Shadows has been fixed and is no longer missable. Thanks to Xortin for the heads up.

The Dark Brotherhood trophies are potentially missable if you kill Astrid in the cabin and choose to "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood."

So, is there anything else about the PS3 Ultimate Edition and PS4 Remaster?

Well, what do you know, there is. Here's the thing. Both of those come with the three DLC's on the disk. Unfortunately, as they tend to do, vampires really screw things up. Their indiscriminate bloodsucking can kill NPC's that may also hold questlines. Until you're level 10 though, there is smooth sailing. After that though, it's best to do Dawnguard and shut them down.

While we're here, can I have links to the DLC guides?

Since I'm in a giving mood, you sure can. Thanks to Darth_Krid for writing those.
Dawnguard
Hearthfire
Dragonborn

Is there anything else?

Well, no, not really. The beauty with Skyrim's trophy list is that you can just enjoy your time with the game, from start to finish, without fear of missing any trophies along the way. There are a few trophies that are tricky unless you know how, things like marriage and activating the Dark Brotherhood for one. There’s also some neat tricks on how to get many of the game’s more arduous trophies and clarification on others. At the end of the day though, enjoy yourself. That level 50 trophy is going to take you some time!
?
Good luck and enjoy your time in Skyrim. It’s a blast! And if you need help finding a location, check out this reference map, courtesy of gamebanshee.com.

Introduction:

8 months after it was released on the Xbox360 as the first Skyrim DLC pack, Dawnguard finally sees a release on the Playstation 3. Boasting a substantial amount of additional content, Dawnguard revolves around an ancient prophecy that foretells the blotting out of the Sun. The player has the choice of joining the Volkihar (a powerful clan of Vampires attempting to fulfil the prophecy) or the Dawnguard (a group of Vampire hunters battling to prevent the world from being plunged into irrevocable darkness). Also included in Dawnguard are a bunch of new side-quests, three new Shouts, two new perk trees and the highest species of dragon (the Legendary Dragon).

The trophies in this DLC are related to all of the side-quests and the main quest, but should not pose any more difficulty than the main game. They can, however, be particularly time consuming. Legend in particular requires you to be around Level 78 before Legendary Dragons start appearing. If you reached Level 50 in the main game for the Master trophy and then stopped playing, you'll be looking at a minimum of 30 hours of solid levelling to reach Level 78. Luckily, there is an exploit to reach max level (81) in around 8 hours. See the trophy description for Legend for more details.

Note that from this point on, this guide will contain spoilers for the Companions questline. If you do not want to know important details about that particular questline, do not read on here until you have completed the Companions quest "The Silver Hand".

Note on the missable trophy: There is one missable trophy in Dawnguard, but thankfully this time it is not caused by something you may have done much earlier in the main game, therefore it is avoidable if you are mindful of it before you start the DLC. The trophy in question is Werewolf Mastered which requires you to learn all perks in the Werewolf perk tree. The only way you can become a werewolf is by completing "The Silver Hand" for the Companions (which is mandatory if you wish to continue the Companions questline). At the end of the Companions questline you have the choice to keep your Lycanthropy or be cured of it. If you chose the latter don't worry as, with the installation of Dawnguard, you can visit Aela the Huntress in Jorrvaskr in Whiterun and she will turn you into a werewolf again but this can only be done once. Therefore if you cure your Lycanthropy again or choose to turn into a Vampire before you have earned this trophy, you will be unable to achieve it.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Complete the main quest

Your first step should be to complete the main quest, which comprises the following missions:

  • Dawnguard
  • Awakening
  • Bloodline
  • A New Order (Dawnguard) / The Bloodstone Chalice (Vampire)
  • Prophet
  • Chasing Echoes
  • Beyond Death
  • Seeking Disclosure
  • Unseen Visions
  • Touching The Sky
  • Kindred Judgement

In order to start the DLC you must be level 10 or above then enter one of the 9 major cities in Skyrim. You should be approached by an Orc named Durak, who will ask the player to join the Dawnguard by visiting them at Fort Dawnguard. If he does not appear, talk to one of the cities' guards and they will tell you that the Dawnguard are recruiting. Make sure that you activate the quest in your quest menu to bring up the quest marker, since you are unable to walk directly to Fort Dawnguard as the game blocks your way. You must instead go through Dayspring Canyon, located South-East of Riften.

When you start the quest "Bloodline", make sure to make a new save. This is because this mission gives you the choice of sides: Dawnguard or Vampire, so if you wish to play through both sides (which isn't required for a trophy), you can do so without having to start a new character. I would highly recommend earning the Auriel's Bow trophy as soon as you receive the weapon of the same name at the end of "Touching The Sky".

I would also recommend working towards unlocking perks for either the Werewolf or the Vampire Lord during the main quest to save you from excess grinding later. Once you complete this step, you are guaranteed to earn at least the following trophies:

Awakening
Beyond Death
Kindred Judgement

Step 2 - Miscellaneous trophies

Once you complete the story, you should mop up some of the miscellaneous trophies, such as completing the "Lost to the Ages" sidequest, learning the "Soul Tear" Shout, changing your character's appearance and using the power of Auriel's Bow if you didn’t already get it during the main quest. By the end of this step you should have the following trophies:

Lost to the Ages
Soul Tear
Auriel's Bow
A New You

Step 3 - Completing the Werewolf and Vampire Lord perk trees

This step is a bit of a grind as you will need to kill quite a lot of enemies in order to unlock all 11 perks in each tree. There are also many ways to go about this step. If you are already a Werewolf before starting Dawnguard, you can unlock all perks before "Bloodline" and then accept Harkon's Gift and become a Vampire Lord and then unlock all those perks. Conversely you may not have started the Companions questline, which means you can become a Vampire Lord first, then later obtain Lycanthropy and earn all the Werewolf perks. You can even decline Harkon's Gift if you wish, and become a Vampire Lord or Werewolf at a later time, as that option is available to you too. The choice is yours but either way you will probably have to grind one or both of the perk trees upon completion of the main story. By the end of this step you will have the following two trophies:

Werewolf Mastered
Vampire Mastered

Step 4 - Legend

This step may have been completed earlier if you were already at level 78 or above when you started the DLC. However, if you are at a lower level, this will likely be the last trophy you earn. You will need to either grind for many hours to be at a high enough level for a Legendary Dragon to spawn or use an exploit to level up quickly. See the trophy description for more details. Either way, at the end of this step you will have the following trophy and 100% for this DLC:

Legend

Hearthfire DLC

Roadmap

Overview:

  • Estimated Trophy Difficulty: 2/10
  • Offline trophies: 5 (5 )
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 3-5 hours (Gold dependent)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1
  • Number of missable trophies: 2: Land Baron and Master Architect
  • Glitched trophies: 0
  • Does difficulty affect any trophies: No
  • Do cheat codes disable trophies: No cheat codes available

Introduction:

The second DLC released for Skyrim, Hearthfire, is a radical departure from the usual questing and adventuring found in the main game. This add-on allows you to build your own house and decorate it with a wide variety of different rooms and furnishings. Furthermore, you can adopt children and allow them to move into your house along with your wife to create a true family home.

The trophies for Hearthfire are really easy but require a certain amount of Gold to unlock. If you have around 50-60,000 Gold you can get the trophies within 3 hours as you can buy all the materials you need. If you don't have the Gold or don't wish to spend it, then you can mine/smith all the materials but this will add a couple of hours to your playthrough.

Note on missable trophies: Unfortunately there are two missable trophies in this DLC. If you have at any point completed "Contract: Kill Helvard" for the Dark Brotherhood, the option to buy Lakeview Manor in Falkreath will never be available. Luckily, this is a radiant quest once you have completed the Dark Brotherhood quest-line and so chances are you haven't received it. If you have then you will need to load a save from before you carried out the contract. Check your quest log to see if it has been completed or not. Note that you can still have the quest in your list of active quests but Helvard must be alive, otherwise you're out of luck.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Adopt a child:

You should do this first as it's the easiest and quickest trophy to earn in the DLC. If you have completed the first Dark Brotherhood quest "Innocence Lost", once you have installed the add-on, as soon as you enter one of the 7 main cities a courier will approach you and give you two letters. One will be to inform you that you can build a children's bedroom in any of your currently-owned homes. The other will be to announce that the Honorhall Orphanage in Riften is looking for parents to adopt children. If you have not completed "Innocence Lost", then the courier will only give you the first letter and will only bring you the second one once you complete that quest. You should then build a children's bedroom in one of your homes then go to the orphanage to adopt a child. For a more detailed explanation, see the trophy guide below. This step will earn you the following trophy:

Proud Parent

Step 2 - Buy all 3 plots of land

There are 3 plots of land to buy in Hearthfire, one each from the cities of Falkreath, Dawnstar and Morthal. To buy a plot of land from the Jarl or their Housecarl in these cities, you will have to have completed certain quests to get the conversation option to buy a plot of land. Once you do, ask about houses in the area, and you will have the option to purchase the plots of land for 5,000 Gold each. Purchasing all 3 plots will net you the following trophies:

Landowner
Land Baron

Step 3 - Fully build all 3 houses:

This is the most time-consuming step and the main focus of this DLC. Once you have bought all three plots, go to each one in turn by finding it on the map and travelling there. Once there, you will need to start off by going to the Drafting Table and selecting "Small House", then use the Carpenter’s Workbench to build the house. Repeat this again for the "Main Hall", then three more times for the three different Wings. You will have to do this for all three houses. For a more detailed explanation, see the trophy guide below. At the end of this step, you will have unlocked the following trophies and achieved 100% for this DLC:

Architect
Master Architect

Dragonborn DLC

Overview:

  • Estimated 100% difficulty: 2/10 (level/equipment dependent)
  • Offline trophies: 10 (3, 7)
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 6-8 hours (+ possible time required for level 80 Smithing)
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 1
  • Number of missable trophies: 1: Stalhrim Crafter
  • Glitched trophies: 0
  • Does difficulty affect any trophies: No, all trophies can be earned on Novice

Introduction:

After many infamous and well-documented delays, the first piece of DLC for Skyrim on the PS3 is finally here! Titled Dragonborn, this substantial addition sees the player travel to the island of Solstheim in Morrowind to investigate the Cult of Miraak, who believe their eponymous leader, the first Dragonborn, is about to return to Tamriel.

As well as the main quest, Dragonborn comes packed with additional content such as new sidequests, locations, shouts and materials to find on Solstheim. All of these have a trophy related to them, meaning that getting 100% will involve you sampling everything the DLC has to offer.

Note on missable trophy: There is one missable trophy in this DLC, which is Stalhrim Crafter. During “The Fate of the Skaal” quest, you will learn the first word of the “Bend Will” shout. Once you have done this and are told to use it on the Wind Stone, make a new save. This is because when you use the Bend Will on the Stone, an enemy called a Lurker will attack you and the Skaal villagers around the stone. You must ensure that Fanari Strong-Voice, Deor Woodcutter and Baldor Iron-Shaper all survive. In most cases, you will be fine as the Lurker doesn’t take long to kill; but after you kill it, look around the villagers to make sure those three are there and talk to you. If one has died, reload the save you made a few seconds earlier and do it again. I didn’t realise until I’d finished everything else in the DLC that Fanari had died, leaving me unable to start “A New Source of Stalhrim”. I hadn’t hard-saved either, meaning I had to load a pre-Dragonborn save and do the first part of the DLC again. See the description of Stalhrim Crafter for more details.

Note on Perks: Once you complete “A New Source of Stalhrim”, you must have the ability to smith Ebony to be able to create weapons or armour out of Stalhrim. The Ebony perk can be unlocked in the smithing skill tree once you hit level 80 in smithing. In rare cases, your character may be at overall max level (81) and never unlocked the ability to smith Ebony, and thus have no perks left to assign to it. However, do not worry, as Dragonborn introduces the ability to re-spec your perks once you complete the main quest. Simply read the Black Book entitled “Waking Dreams” and you will be able to spend one dragon soul to remove all perks from one skill tree, allowing you to reassign them wherever you like. Place as many perks as necessary in Smithing to unlock Ebony and then craft a Stalhrim item to unlock the trophy. You can put the perks back in their original place once you have done this if you so wish.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Complete the main quest

To initiate the Dragonborn DLC, you must first have at least started "The Horn Of Jurgen Windcaller" in the Skyrim main questline and been deemed "Dragonborn" by the Greybeards (thanks to erdvilla for confirming). Then, enter any of the 7 major cities in Skyrim. You will be attacked by Miraak Cultists. Kill them and loot their bodies to find a note which will lead you to a small harbour next to Windhelm. Take the boat that the quest marker indicates, and you will travel to Solstheim.

Once in Solstheim you will be directed where to go. There are 7 quests in total for the main story in the DLC, which are:

  • Dragonborn
  • The Temple of Miraak
  • The Fate of the Skaal
  • Cleansing the Stones
  • The Path of Knowledge
  • The Gardener of Men
  • The Summit of Apocrypha

In this step I highly recommend travelling everywhere on foot instead of fast-travelling, discovering as many locations as you can as you go. This way, by the time you complete the main quest you should have worked a considerable way towards discovering 30 locations for Solstheim Explorer. Completing the main quest will earn you the following four trophies:

Outlander
The Temple of Miraak
The Path of Knowledge
At the Summit of Apocrypha

Step 2 - Miscellaneous trophies

Now that the main quest is finished, it’s time to mop up the other six trophies. Start by completing the various sidequests in Solstheim related to the trophies, such as earning a house in Raven Rock, crafting an item out of Stalhrim and finding 5 Black Books. Completing these sidequests will naturally earn you all 3 words of the “Dragon Aspect” shout. If you are travelling on foot, you should also have discovered 30 locations in Solstheim by now. The last trophy you will likely earn is Dragonrider, which requires you to tame and ride 5 dragons. See the trophy descriptions for more details. Completing this step will earn you the following trophies and your 100% for this DLC:

Stalhrim Crafter
Dragon Aspect
Solstheim Explorer
Hidden Knowledge
Raven Rock Owner
Dragonrider

Complete the following main story quests to unlock this quest and then complete it to unlock the trophy:

    • The World-Eater’s Eyrie.
    • Sovngarde.
    • Dragonslayer.
  • Join the Companions

The building up on the hill in the city of Whiterun is called Jorrvaskr. You can find it to the east of the steps up to Dragonsreach. Head in and head down to Kodlak who is downstairs in the basement, in the far room at the far end of the long corridor. Speak to him, begin your training, complete a number of mundane fetch and deliver tasks to finish the “Take Up Arms” quest and join The Companions.

  • Become a member of the Circle

There are multiple tasks to do before you can become a member of the Circle, some mundane (and not counting as guild quests, but necessary to progress the questline) and others substantial and making up part of the questline. They are as follows:

    • Hired Muscle – Intimidation is the name of the game here. Short and easy quest.
    • Proving Honour – You’ll be asked to retrieve part of a blade here.
    • Rescue Mission – The game gives you a choice of three missions to pick from, from the people wandering around Jorrvaskr: Aela the Huntress, Skjor & Vilkas (we chose Vilkas, whose job was to save a kidnapped citizen in “Rescue Mission.”) Whether that changes, who knows.

    And finally…

    • The Silver Hand – After returning to Whiterun and to the Jorrvaskr, having completed the mission, you’ll have to meet Skjor at night round the back of the building, before the initiation begins. Note: you don’t have to complete this mission to get the trophy, you get it after the ritual… plus, you need to be quite powerful as the end boss-like person in this quest is a little powerful (talking from the perspective of a level 20), but to get the final Companions trophies, you have to soldier on, complete this and do a number of other missions.
  • Complete "Glory of the Dead"

To finish off the warrior’s guild questline, you simply have to wrap up the following quests from people within the Companions:

    • Retrieval – Head to Broken Helm Hollow and retrieve an artefact.
    • Stealing Plans – Steal something from Fort Fellhammer.
    • Blood’s Honour – Head to a coven and grab something for the guild.
    • Purity of Revenge – Head to a stronghold and retrieve another artefact.
    • Glory of the Dead – Complete this to finish the faction.
  • Join the College of Winterhold

To simply kick off the mage’s guild storyline, head to the College of Winterhold and speak with the grand teacher, Tolfdir. After completing the “First Lessons” quest, you’ll have joined the College of Winterhold.

  • Complete "Revealing the Unseen"

There’s a couple of quests here you’ll have to do before you net this trophy:

    • Under Saarthal – which has you visiting a dig site and then facing some evil beings.
    • Hitting the Books – speaking to Urag gro-Shub and accepting the mission has you heading off to Fellglow Keep to grab some stolen books.
    • Good Intentions – you’ll be sent deep below the College to speak to a wise being.
    • Revealing the Unseen – one hell of a long quest that sees you head to the dwarven structure, Mzulft
  • Complete "The Eye of Magnus"

For completing the 9th Mage’s Guild mission, AKA the College of Winterhold Quests, you’ll successfully have completed the Mage’s Guild questline and you’ll net the final trophy. The quests you’ll have to complete to finish off the questline are as follows:

    • Containment – Report to Mirabelle Ervine and complete her task.
    • The Staff of Magnus – Head to Labyrinthian and grab the staff.
    • The Eye of Magnus – Complete the last quest.
  • Join the Thieves Guild

In order to kick off the Thieves Guild questline, you’ll have to do a small quest for Brynjolf in Riften, on the square. He’ll be there at his stall between 8am and 8pm. Once you’ve done that he’ll want to meet you at the Ragged Flagon under Riften in the Ratway, which is the start of the Taking Care of Business quest, which is your way into the thieves guild.

  • Complete "Darkness Returns"

For the second Thieves Guild trophy, you’ll have to partake in a few thieves guild jobs first. The following are missions required for this trophy:

    • Loud and Clear – A nice little heist job of sorts.
    • Dampened Spirits – Someone wants you to do some of their dirty work.
    • Speaking With Silence – Head into the dark depths of the Snow Veil Sanctum.
    • Hard Answers – Head to Winterhold and beyond.
    • Darkness Returns – The less said, the better, just complete this quest.
    • The Pursuit – Head back to the thieves guild and begin this new quest.
    • Trinity Restored – Take a trip to get something of great power.
    • Blindsighted – Travel somewhere and get something important.
    • Darkness Returns – Finish it, once and for all.
  • Returned the Thieves Guild to its former glory

In order to get this trophy you have to do enough side missions (and then a main mission for each of the 4 major cities) for the Thieves Guild, namely Delvin and Vex, so you can restore the Thieves Guild to its former glory. It’s basically a matter of doing a set of mundane jobs throughout the cities of Skyrim until the guild catches someone’s eye there, then doing the main mission in that city. There’s a lot of tooing and froing to be done here, so don’t say you haven’t been warned – remember as well, pick two missions up at a time (one from each Delvin and Vex) and then drop them off two at a time. You'll also have to do five radiant quests for Delvin and Vex for each city.

By my reckoning, you can do around 40 smaller quests overall (well, that’s how many I did), but you can get away with 20 (five for each city that you need for Town Influence) as well as 4 bigger quests in the 4 major cities (not Riften) – these 4 missions will be given to you while you do the smaller quests at various intervals. It’s 350 gold a mission to start with, 400 later on and they are quick and relatively easy (except the Bedlam stuff), but yes, it’s boring as sin!

    The types of mission are:

    Delvin:

    • The Numbers Job – forge a specific ledger.
    • The Fishing Job – pickpocket a specific item.
    • The Bedlam Job – steal 500 gold of goods from one city.

    Vex:

    • The Burglary Job – steal a specific something from someone’s house.
    • The Shill Job – plant a specific stolen object in someone’s house.
    • The Sweep Job – steal a series of specific valuable items from someone’s house.
    • The Heist Job – steal from a shop.

Then you’ll have to do the following quests in each city:

    • Imitation Amnesty – Whiterun.
    • Silver Lining - Markarth.
    • Windhelm – Summerset Shadows
    • The Dainty Sload – Solitude

    Then finally:

    • Under New Management – Speak to Brynjolf to start this bad boy when you have done the other 4 main quests.

Yeah, it’s a pain in the ass in truth and super boring – talk about cheaply artificially extending the length of the guild – but it has to be done… it helps towards the 100,000 gold trophy anyway, plus a few of the other more sinister trophies, if you take mostly pickpocketing (fishing) jobs from Delvin.

Once you're down to one city, you can save before accepting a job from Delvin or Vex and reload as many times as you need to get a job in the city that you're looking for or if you don't mind failing quests, you can simply quit the quest and get a different one in another location. Thanks to Francofone for confirming.

Missable warning: So how is this seemingly unmissable trophy missable? If you sell your Thieves' Guild armor before completing this questline, Tonilla won't let you upgrade to the final set of armor. You have to keep that armor in your inventory or in a house. You cannot sell it.

  • Join the Dark Brotherhood

(Missable) Finding the Dark Brotherhood is as tricky as it sounds, but not anymore. We’re not entirely sure how we got this into our miscellaneous objectives, but we did and if I recall correctly, it was from asking bar tenders rumours about the region. When you find the right barman (Orgnar in The Sleeping Giant Inn in Riverwood is probably the first you'll meet), although you could probably go right to the house, you’ll have to find a boy called Aventus Aretino who can be found in the Arentino Residence in Windhelm. Speak to the boy, complete the “Innocence Lost” quest and then sometime shortly after a courier will give you a note saying “We Know.” Then just sleep, you know the score with the Dark Brotherhood if you played Oblivion.

Note: This and the rest of the questline can be missed if you choose to kill Astrid and select "Destroy the Dark Brotherhood." But really, why would you do this?

  • Complete "Bound Until Death"

(Missable) Ahhh, the Dark Brotherhood, the best of the questlines once again. You’ll have to embark on a number of rather evil quests here once you’ve enlisted and visited the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary by Falkreath. These are:

    • Contract: Kill Narfi.
    • Contract: Kill Ennodius Papius.
    • Contract: Kill Beitild.
    • Mourning Never Comes – To Markarth it is!
    • Whispers in the Dark – Do a favour for Astrid.
    • Contract: Kill Lurbuk.
    • Contract: Kill Hern.
    • The Silence Has Been Broken – Head to Volunruud on a quest.
    • Bound Until Death – Big job calls for the Dark Brotherhood’s finest.
  • Complete "Hail Sithis!"

(Missable) And with all good things, they must come to an end! To finish off the Dark Brotherhood you’ll need to do these quests:

    • Breaching Security – Gabriella needs you to do a job.
    • The Cure for Madness – Astrid needs your assistance.
    • Recipe for Disaster – The penultimate quest sees you head to Markarth and beyond.
    • To Kill an Empire - The big, big finale here you’ve been working towards for the DB and it needs the deft touch of a Dark Brotherhood assassin.
    • Death Incarnate – Things aren’t over just yet.
    • Hail Sithis – And finally…
  • Join the Stormcloaks or the Imperial Army

There are two ways to play this: you either go and do a quest for Legate Rikke who can be found in Castle Dour at Solitude (Imperials); or you go and do a quest for Galmar Stone-Fist who’s in the Palace of Kings at Windhelm (Stormcloaks). It's your choice. Regardless of which way you go though, the trophy will pop after you’ve proved yourself to whichever side you choose.

  • Capture Fort Sungard or Fort Greenwall

(Potentially Missable) You’ll have to do a handful of quests here to initiate the fort capture, but they’re essentially of similar ilk, but from different sides, we assume. These quests are:

    Imperials Quests

    • The Jagged Crown – Takes you to Korvanjund.
    • Message to Whiterun – Deliver a message and more.
    • Battle for Whiterun – Take sides.
    • Reunification of Skyrim – Ongoing.
    • Compelling Tribute – Gain valuables for the war effort.
    • The Battle for Fort Greenwall – As it sounds.

    Stormcloaks Quests

    • The Jagged Crown – Takes you to Korvanjund.
    • Message to Whiterun – Deliver an item.
    • Battle for Whiterun – As it sounds.
    • Reunification of Skyrim – Ongoing.
    • Rescue from Fort Neugrad - Rescue prisoners.
    • Compelling Tribute - Find evidence for blackmail.
    • The Battle for Fort Sungard - As it sounds.

NOTE: Since both of these forts can be given away during the main questline, either complete Civil War beforehand or give both forts to the faction that you side with. If you complete the Civil War questline before the main questline is finished, you shouldn't have any problems. Whether you can get this trophy or not depends on your choices. Just make sure that both forts either end up with different factions or the faction that you are no aligned with. Thanks to jamby for the info.

  • Capture Solitude or Windhelm

It’s final push time in the civil war questline. These quests are needed to round it off (NOTE: Reunification of Skyrim is still on going here too):

    Imperials Quests

    • Rescue From Fort Kastav – Rescue fellow soldiers.
    • The Battle for Fort Sungard – Same as before.
    • The Battle for Fort Amol – And again.
    • Battle for Windhelm – It’s all been building up to this. Finish it and the questline is complete.

    Stormcloaks Quests

    • A False Front - Intercept documents and forge them.
    • The Battle for Fort Snowhawk - As it sounds.
    • The Battle for Fort Hraggstad - As it sounds.
    • Battle for Solitude - It’s all been building up to this. Finish it and the questline is complete.
  • Complete 10 side quests

What is a side-quest? Well, that’s a trickier question that it sounds… a side quest in Skyrim is a quest that is big enough that it’s not classed as a “Miscellaneous Objective,” a quest that isn’t a questline quest (i.e. main quest, guild quest and the civil war quests) or one of the many Daedric quests. It’s tougher than it sounds in all honesty and tricky to work out. Out of 86 quests (at last check), only 12 of those were side missions. As long as it doesn’t fall under the three points above though and is fairly substantial (they’re not short missions!), then it should register as a side-mission. The following are the side quests that you can find and where you can initiate the quest:

    • Ancestral Worship - Golldir outside of Hillgrund's Tomb.
    • Coral Dragon Claw - Birna at Birna's Oddments in Winterhold.
    • Delayed Burial - Cicero or Vantus Loreius at Loreius Farm.
    • Forbidden Legend - Read "Lost Legends", find the Gauldur Amulet fragment in Saarthal during "First Lesson", finding a "Writ of Sealing", or Daynas Valen's journal.
    • In My Time of Need - Alik'r warriors in or near Whiterun.
    • J'Zargo's Experiment - J'Zargo in the College of Winterhold.
    • Laid to Rest - Jarl of Morthal.
    • Lights Out! - Jaree-Ra in Solitude.
    • Missing in Action - Avulstein Gray-Mane in Whiterun.
    • No One Escapes Cidhna Mine - Part two of The Forsworn Conspiracy.
    • No Stone Unturned - Find a Stone of Barenziah (Called an unusual gem when you first find one. Kodlak at Jorrvaskr in Whiterun has one in his room.) and bring it to Vex in the The Ragged Flagon in Riften.
    • Onmund's Request - Onmund in the College of Winterhold.
    • Promises to Keep - Louis Letrush at the Bee and Barb in Riften.
    • Rise in the East - Orthas Endario at the East Empire Company.
    • Rising at Dawn - Valga Vincia at the Dead Man's Drink in Falkreath.
    • Shalidor's Insight - Ura gro-Shub at the College of Winterhold.
    • Tending the Flames - Viarmo at the Bard's College in Solitude.
    • The Blessing of Nature - Danica Pure-Spring in Whiterun.
    • The Forsworn Conspiracy - Witness a murder in Markarth.
    • The Golden Claw - Lucan Valerius at the Riverwood Trader in Riverwood.
    • The Legend of Red Eagle - Reading The Legend of Red Eagle book. Easiest location to find is near Farengar Secret-Fire in Dragonsreach.
    • The Man Who Cried Wolf - Falk Firebeard at the Blue Palace in Solitude.
    • The Pale Lady - Travel to Frostmere Crypt.
    • The White Phial - Nurelion at The White Phial in Windhelm.
    • The Wolf Queen Awakened - Part two of The Man Who Cried Wolf.
    • Unfathomable Depths - From-Deepest-Fathoms at the Riften Docks.
  • Complete 50 Misc Objectives

A “Miscellaneous Objective” is a small quest that isn’t quite big enough to be a quest and so is classed as an MO. These can involve visiting a museum in Dawnstar (which triggers a mission), visiting someone, following up on a lead, seeking out a source of power, clearing out a bandit camp and so on.

To see what you have activated in the MO menu and what you can do (you can even tag them on the map as well), then hit the start menu and on the quest tab, scroll down to the bottom of the incomplete quests section and then move right and see what you’ve got to do.

If you want to add stuff onto here then try talking to barmen about rumours and generally speak to people galore, probing for tidbits of information and so on. You’ll find all the courier "quests" and barmen bandit clear outs fall under this heading, so if you’re wanting to do some, you know where to head first.

  • Chop wood, mine ore, and cook food

Might sound easy enough, but it’s all about getting the right stuff and being in the right place. I’ll break down all three, and some are obviously easier than others:

Chop wood – Simple, go to Riverwood and on the left, by the river will be a wood cutting machine. Around the bottom of the machine, there will be several wood chopping blocks. In order to activate them, you will need a woodcutter's axe. There is one between the bridge and the grindstone on the western side of the machine. Once you have the axe, activate one of the chopping blocks.

Mine ore – For this one, for starters, you need a pick-axe, so whenever you see one lying around, pick it up… or buy one. Then you need to find something to ore and actually finding somewhere is easier said than done. I’ve compiled a few locations for you to get you started (this isn’t all of them, just a selection that I encountered in my travels):

    • Movarth’s Lair – northeast of Morthal (have to go here for ‘Laid to Rest’ quest).
    • Shor’s Stone, inside Redbelly Mine – Some great ebony ore here to mine. Shor’s Stone (a small mining village) is in the non snowy mountain range in between Windhelm and Riften, on the right hand side.
    • Darkwater Crossing, inside Goldenrock Mine – at the south of Wildhelm in the far south of the swampland, where the river ends on the far left, you’ll find this small fishing village.
    • Embershard Mine - Southwest of Riverwood.
    • Note: Icons with two crossed pick-axes on the map signifies the location of a mine that will have materials to mine and even might house a pick-axe.

Cook – You just need any cooking pot, a recipe (which are in the game in the “cook” menu when you click on the pot) and a load of ingredients. Ingredients can be found all over and for the pot, we used the Breezehome pot (the house that you can buy in Whiterun after you become Thane) with the following recipes being the easiest because the ingredients can be found in most barrels and in a lot of shops:

    • Apple Cabbage Stew – requires cabbage, red apple and salt pile.
    • Cabbage Potato Soup – requires cabbage, leak, salt pile and potato.
    • Salmon Steak – requires salmon meat and salt pile.
    • Vegetable Soup – requires tomato, leek, potato, cabbage.
    • Venison Chop – requires 1 venison and 1 salt pile.
    • Venison Stew – requires leek, potato, 2 salt piles and venison.
  • Pick 50 locks and 50 pockets

Like most of the collective trophies in Skyrim, there’s no real shortcut to this trophy, you have to put the time in and pick locks and pick pockets. Simple as. In truth, most of these will just come with playing the game (especially the pick 50 locks) and the pick 50 pockets can be sped up when doing the Thieves Guild. A few tips though:

    • Always open jail cells and chests you find around Skyrim, even if you don’t necessarily want anything from in there.
    • Always carry enough lock-picks. Buy whenever possible. Even breaking them earns you experience for that skill, thus making it easier to lock pick.
    • Doing the Thieves Guild’s final mission, “Darkness Returns,” you’ll be able to get a special ability that will help you remain incognito. No spoilers!
    • Use the standing stone, the Shadow Stone and once a day players can become invisible for an extended period. That helps with pickpocketing. You’ll find it south of Riften, in the small mountain in the middle before the big mountain range to the south.
    • You have to be crouched to pickpocket, and do so from the shadows and only grab when the reticule’s eye is closed (i.e. a thin horizontal line).
    • Remember, it’s free to look, but grab something and get caught and they’ll turn on you and you’ll get a bounty. Always note the percentage… 90% ones are fairly risk free.
    • This is unconfirmed with the recent patch, but pickpocketing an item, quitting the pickpocketing menu, and then pickpocketing them again will count twice.
  • Successfully persuade, bribe, and intimidate

Throughout the world and during conversations you’ll be given the chance to choose how you respond, whether that’s persuade someone, bribe someone or intimidate someone. Just do one of these successfully for your trophy. There’s a good chance that intimidate (and maybe even persuade) won’t work early on, and that’ll be because your speech level won’t be high enough, so sell loads of items, buy loads too, and even your unsuccessful persuades/intimidation dialogue responses will result in speech skill points, helping you raise your speech level. There are plenty of options around, just make sure you do loads of side missions and such to get more opportunities.

  • Select a Standing Stone blessing

See “Standing Stones” for how to net this trophy.

  • Find 13 Standing Stones

There are 13 “standing stones” in all, which allows your character to carry one blessing with them until they overwrite it at another stone. Simply walk up to them, activate them and the effects of it will work for you.

Before I delve into the locations, it’s worth noting that I hadn’t visited all 13 when I got the trophy, so I assume it counted every time I revisted them. Regardless, the locations of 12 of the 13 are as follows:

    • The Thief Stone – Stealth skills learnt 20% faster
    • The Mage Stone – Magic skills learnt 20% faster
    • The Warrior Stone – Combat skills learnt 20% faster?
      • Southwest of Riverwood, below a place called Anise’s Cabin and west of the Embershard Mine. The three above are at a location called The Guardian Stones. Shouldn’t miss them as you leave Helgen.
    • The Ritual Stone – Once a day can reanimate nearby corpses to fight for them.?
      • East of Whiterun slightly south of the river, between Whiterun and Valtheim Towers.
    • The Atronach Stone – Larger pool of Magika and absorb spell damage, but recover it more slowly.?
      • The best way to describe this is between Riften and Windhelm, in the marshland. It’s closer to Windhelm than Riften and just the otherside of the mountain range in between the two. It’s near the Eldergleam Sanctuary and the Darkwater Crossing (by the river) to the east of the two.
    • The Shadow Stone – Once a day players can become invisible for an extended period.
      • South of Riften, in the small mountain in the middle before the big mountain range to the south.
    • The Steed Stone – Can carry more and don’t suffer a movement penalty from armour.
      • On the tip of the highest mountain to the mountain, northwest of Solitude.
    • The Lady Stone – Regenerate health and stamina more quickly.
      • In the lake to the west of Riverwood is a small island where you’ll find this stone.
    • The Apprentice Stone – recover magicka more quickly, but are more susceptible to magika damage.
      • Just south of Solitude, on an island in the small water marshland, you’ll find this stone.
    • The Tower Stone – Automatically open Expert or lower locks.
      • Smack bang in the middle of Winterhold and Dawnstar, up on a mountain.
    • The Lover Stone – All skills improve faster.
      • Directly east of Markarth, about one fifth of the way to Solitude.
    • The Lord Stone – More resistant to magika and physical damage.
      • Southwest of Dawnstar in the mountain range, on the northern peak.
    • The Serpent Stone - Use a ranged paralyzing poison on an opponent once a day.
      • Directly east of Winterhold and north of Windhelm. In the sea on a floating iceberg of sorts.
  • Buy a house

After you defeat your first dragon in the main mission, “Dragon Rising,” you’ll be able to head back to Proventus Avenicc, the Jarl’s steward, who’s in Dragonsreach in Whiterun and buy a house for 5,000 gold. All you need to do is buy the house. Nothing more, nothing less. It doesn’t have to be this house though, in fact, there should be one in each major city, but this is the easiest and I’m guessing, the cheapest. Of course, decorating it after with the same chap nets you some cool bonuses, but has nothing to do with the trophy. Decorate that son of a bitch though, yo!

  • Escape from jail

I simply went to Solitude, pickpocketed someone, got caught and submitted, saying take me to jail. When in jail, in the back corner of the room you can activate some loose rubble and it’ll create a hole that’ll allow you to escape ridiculously easily. Probably the easiest trophy in the game!

  • Get married

Well, despite only being a bronze, it’s a bit of a rigmarole to get this trophy. Firstly, you have to head to Riften and speak to Maramal, who’ll be found inside the Temple of Mara, by the Thieves Guild’s back door. Ask him about the Temple (“I would like to know more about the temple”) then question marriage in Skyrim (“I could have a wedding at the temple?”) to which you follow up with “No, Not really.” Eventually he’ll offer to sell you the Amulet of Mara which you buy, equip and then get pulling.

You basically have to find someone who’s “interested” and then head to the temple to initiate the wedding. It’s easier than it sounds. This isn’t everyone either, so here’s a list (non-exhaustive) of people you can marry… if you can marry them, they’ll notice the amulet and say “Interested in me, are you?”.

  • Make a smithed item, an enchanted item, and a potion

As the trophy states, you need to do three things to unlock it, which are as follows:?

Make a smithed item – It’s important to note that the trophy actually requires that you make an item and not improve it – that means you’ll want the hot pit and the anvil, and not the grindstone.

Head to Whiterun and as soon as you enter the main town there’s a place to forge weapons on the right, by the first building. We’ll be using this area because it has a smelter too (more on that later). If you speak to Adrianne Avenicci who should be outside the Warmaiden shop by the smithing area (or inside maybe) and offer to help, you’ll get the ingredients to make a simple item. We’re going to ignore that though and break it down further in case you choose to do this elsewhere, but if possible, just use that. Here’s a good little lesson as well to create your own really cool and powerful stuff…

Okay then, so let’s say we want to make an Iron Helmet (the cool as heck one that you’ve seen in all the promo materials); you’re going to need 3 iron ingot and 2 leather strips. If you’ve got them, great, click on the item and select create. If you haven’t, then you need to find them, either by looting, purchasing them from a shop or using your own initiative.

The using your own initiative part comes in two parts:

Firstly, getting iron ingots. You can easily lay your hands on some iron ingots around Skyrim in shops and by looting, but if you can’t, you’re going to have to mine some iron ore from various spots around Skyrim (see the "Hard Worker" trophy for details and locations on how and where to mine) and turn it into an ingot yourself. Once you have some ore (let’s use iron as an example), head across to the ‘smelter’ which is right by the area in Whiterun we’re using. Like iron ingots, iron ore is widely available, so in order to turn your iron ore into an ingot, head to the smelter, see how much ore you need (in this case, 1 iron ore makes one iron ingot) and then click create on it. That’s part one.

Part two revolves around creating the leather strips, which can be broken down further into two parts: hunting and tanning. Hunting is straightforward: go out into the wild, kill animals and loot them for their pelt/hide/etc. From there you head to one of the many ‘Tanning Racks” – there’s one right by the grindstone/smelter/anvil that we’ve been at for the whole walkthrough. Once there, click on “Misc,” select leather and turn that pelt/hide/etc. into leather… in this example we can use the Bear Pelt or the Deer Hide we have to make leather. Once you’ve turned it into leather, you then use that leather and turn it into leather strips… basically, just click ‘create’ over leather strips.?? Now you have the necessary ingredients to make that iron helmet you’ve always wanted, so head back to the anvil, find the iron helmet and click create! If you want to improve it (this is not optional and not part of the trophy, but always handy to know) head to the grindstone (for weapons) or the workbench (for armour) and apply more ingots to it. ??Everything you ever need for smithing can be found at the following places (all big early cities/villages that you can access from the off:

    • Workbench, grindstone, anvil & tanning rack in Riverwood
    • Grindstone, tanning rack & anvil in Orotheim
    • Anvil, smelter, grindstone, tanning rack & workbench in Whiterun

Make an enchanted item – In order to enchant an item you need three things:

    • An item
    • An enchantment
    • And a soul gem

Once you have all three, head to an Arcane Enchanting bench and combine the three together… I find the best and easiest bench to get to is at Orphan’s Rock, but you need to beat some high level witches to get in there first. Any will do and there are dozens all over Skyrim.?

I found the easiest way to get an enchantment though was to breakdown a magical item (disenchant it); for all intents and purposes, for this example we used a Necromancer’s Robes. By disenchanting it we learnt the ‘Fortify Magika’ enchantment from destroying it and now we can apply it to another item of our choosing. ??The next step is choosing what item you want to apply it to and then we need a soul gem (the bigger, the better and the better the soul inside, the more powerful). We used our Dwarven Gauntlets, Fortify Magika and a “Lesser Soul Gem (Lesser),”but a Petty Soul Gem or a Lesser Soul Gem (or any, in fact) will do. It’s worth noting that you can’t apply every enchantment to everything, so select the enchantment first, then see what’s in white, bold text in the item list (if it’s greyed out, you can’t apply that enchantment to it). Once you’ve selected all three, click create and then BAM! You have an enchanted item. You can even rename the item if you’re feeling creative!

Arkane enchanting benches can be found at the following places:

    • Dragonsreach in Whiterun - To the right of where the Jarl is in the room with Farengar Secret-Fire. Thanks to tuffmuff for the info.
    • Dustman’s Cairn – but only after you accept the ‘Proving Honor’ quest from The Companions
    • Orphan Rock – slightly northeast of Helgen and slightly south east of Riverwood. Must beat some high level witches first though to get to it.

A Potion – It’s always worth making something you can actually use, so I tried to find a recipe that would serve a purpose as I went on. After trying a few times in Arcadia’s Cauldron in Whiterun I found the recipe for a restore health potion which I then needed to get the ingredients for. For one ‘restore health’ potion you need:

    • One blue mountain flower, which can usually be found wandering about the snowy areas… it’s quite common, and;
    • A Sabre Cat eyeball, which can be picked up off the carcass of a dead Sabre Cat (think sabre tooth tigers). These can be found around Honeystrand Cave (along with a load of bears!) which is south of Ivarstead. Don’t go in with a low level character as they can be quite fierce and take a lot of health off you. If you do, take lots of health potions!

When you have those two ingredients, visit a Alchemy Table (there’s one you can use in Arcadia’s Cauldron in Whiterun. Go there with the ingredients, select both and WHAM! Potion made! If you want to make other stuff without recipes, try eating a load of stuff in your inventory to see what properties they carry then go experimenting.

Alchemy labs can be found at the following places (amongst others):

    • Dragonsreach in Whiterun - To the right of where the Jarl is in the room with Farengar Secret-Fire. Thanks to tuffmuff for the info.
    • Arcadia’s in Whiterun
    • Rannveig’s Fast’s dungeon (inside)
    • Dustman’s Cairn
  • Bounty of 1000 gold in all nine holds

There are nine holds in Skyrim, of which there is either a major city or a major town, these are:

    • Falkreath (Falkreath)
    • Whiterun (Whiterun)
    • Morthal (Hjaalmarch)
    • Dawnstar (The Pale)
    • Winterhold (Winterhold)
    • Solitude (Haafinger)
    • Riften (The Rift)
    • Markarth (The Reach)
    • Windhelm (Eastmarch)

Basically, just head into each of those towns and cities and cause as much mayhem as possible… You’re best creating a save (once you’ve been to all 9 cities so you can fast travel) and heading to each town and killing as many people and guards as possible – 1 guard should do it, but if for some chance they don’t react when you hit/shoot them, then attack a civilian first.

When it’s at 1,000, run to somewhere you can fast travel and then nip to the next city. Pack plenty of stamina potions/and or get a horse and when escaping, head for the water (unless you’re on a horse) – the guards seem to be scared of it! Rinse and repeat till all nine are done. Fun trophy this one.

Glitch Note: This only affects non-English versions of the game. If you are in the US, Canada, UK, Australia or New Zealand, you will not be affected at all. If you have a non-English version, then you are in trouble. The game will not read the translations properly and the stats for each hold won't be tracked. The most reliable workaround for this at the moment is to obtain a UK version of the game (assuming that you are in a PAL territory) and earn that one trophy in the English version since the save files are compatible. Changing the default language on your PS3 may work but it may also default the game's language to something other than English. If can't buy a UK version, then you are left waiting for Bethesda to fix the glitch. UPDATE: This was fixed with the 1.04 patch and is no longer and issue.

  • Have 100,000 gold

First things first, the trophy requires you have 100,000 gold on you at any one time

    Anyway, some tips:

    • Killing dragons and selling their Dragon Bones and Dragon Scales is a good way to earn some quick bucks.
    • Doing missions for the Thieves Guild and Dark Brotherhood will net you plenty of coin.
    • In the last Dark Brotherhood main mission, “Hail Sithis!,” you’ll get given 20,000 gold, which you have to invest in another mission. Simply put, don’t start that mission until you have this trophy and this will give you a 20,000 shortcut.
    • Pick up what you can, when you can and then when you get back into the city, sell everything you don’t want and net the cash. Don’t waste your time with stupid stuff like bread, plates, wooden dishes, etc. Save it for the high money to weigh ratio.
    • Remember, shops don’t have unlimited gold, so try to get rid of stuff as and when you have it. However, if like me you don’t, then you generally find that waiting 48 hours (in the store, that is using the wait button) they will have their allotted amount of money back, so if you’re desperate, do that. You can always buy back what you sell at a later time, obviously for a much more bigger cost.
    • NOTE: If you do it this way it can be stupidly boring! Also, the higher your speech skill, the more you get per item (although it’s not really that noticeable). You can use the merchants in every town, but the best place to do this is with members of the Thieves Guild. They will have 4,000 gold every 48 hours. Tonilia, Gulum-Ei (if you don't kill him), and Mallus Maccius (when you help him) are all options. To be able to get them to have 4,000 gold, you have to do all of the Town Influence quests (four per city plus one large quest per city) for them. Thanks to jamby for the info.
  • Clear 50 dungeons

What is a dungeon? That’s the first question. A dungeon might not necessarily be a dungeon in the classical sense, for instance, a clearing in the woods that is overrun by beasties and evil spirits might be classed as a dungeon. So whether you’re talking about a cottage full of evil spirits, a clearing, a fort, a proper dungeon and so on, as long as it’s its own separate icon on the map, with a few exceptions of course (monuments, major cities (and places within the cities), etc.) you should be able to “clear” it.

But wait, how do you clear it? Well, you basically go in and kill everything in there and grab every unique weapon/item/armour piece that’s found in there. In fact, we think killing stuff is enough actually. It’s that easy. The best thing is, if you bring up the menu, go to map, you’ll be able to see areas you’ve cleared with a “cleared” tag next to it. You’ll get this one as you work through the rest of the trophies, guaranteed. If you want to check your progress, there's a stat in the stats area too.

  • Get a skill to 100

And how do you get a skill up to level 100? Simple… over bloody usage! If you’re an archer, use your bow all the time, buy perks that improve and make you stronger in that discipline and just go crazy with it.

There are three ways though to improve a skill which you can take advantage of:

    • Use the skill repeatedly. The lower the skill is, the faster it levels up.
    • Train with another character – this is going to cost you gold though and the higher the level, the more it’ll cost you. NOTE: You can train 5 times per character level (across every discipline), so use them wisely.
    • Finally, find a skill book. Chances are though this will be down to chance, so concentrate on the other two and then take this as an added bonus along the way.

Here are some amazing tactics to raise skill levels (and thus, your character level) quickly:

    • Make use of the standing stones (see the "Standing Stones" trophy for locations. There are plenty that can speed the skill leveling so work out which ones you want to work on and make good use of them.
    • A good tip is making obscene amounts of gold and then getting training from people all round Skyrim. You’ll generally find deceptive tactic trainers in the Thieves Guild, merchantable trainers in the towns and cities, magic trainers in the Winterhold college, combat trainers in the Companions’ chamber in Whiterun and so on. Remember though, you can only train 5 times per character level (across all disciplines) so try picking the one with the highest level in your list, paying more gold and getting more of a boost.
    • A personal favourite of mine: if you do the quest "Discerning the Transmundane" (see the "Oblivion Walker" trophy for details on how and where you have to go) you'll get an artefact that significantly raises a selection of skills and attributes. Do this and heed the warning... use it when you have a lot of high levels to raise for added effect.
    • Smithing is an easy skill to raise and thanks to Vile Denial, there is a sound tactic already. He says: "If you want to reach level 100 in a skill easily (and get a few levels while doing so), I'd recommend smithing. Simply find/buy (I'd recommend buying) all the iron ingots/ore you can, along with leather and leather strips. Warmaiden's is a good place, since the wife outside and husband inside both sell these. Then simply make iron daggers. Once you run out of iron, switch over to leather bracers. Then sell all the items you've made (can even level up speechcraft here during selling). Simply wait until the shops reset (24 hours?), and repeat. You'll get to 100 in no time."
    • Another great tip from Vile Denial here, this time in regards to skill improvement books, which you can buy. He says, "Also, a small note for the skill books trophy. All skills books will have a value above 50 gold (although not all books with a value above 50 will be skill books - I believe there's one worth 200 which doesn't raise a skill)."
    • A great tip from rza_2002 on X360A here: "The Illusion spell, Muffle, you can cast this anywhere and everywhere, I just put it on my left hand [weapon on right] and as i explored everywhere I kept pressing ." You can buy the muffle spell from Drevis Neloren inside the Hall of Countenance at the College of Winterhold, from Farengar Secret-Fire at Dragonsreach in Whiterun or Calcelmo at Understone Keep in Markarth.
    • Another one from rza, this time in regards to sneaking: "If you're close enough to an enemy and he can't see you, you can sneak constantly into the wall/corner... I just rubberbanded the analog stick and left it while I watched TV."
    • Again, rza suggest for the heavy armour, light armour and block skills: They "all can all be levelled by finding an enemy that's not gonna kill you and just standing there." It does take a while though and if I can add, if you equip a healing spell when they're attacking you, you can build your restoration as well.
    • In regards to alchemy, rza again suggests: "All ingredients have 4 [perks or w/e] you can either experiment to find out or buy the recipes [from alchemy stores]. Turns out the the top left of EVERYTHING is found out by eating it. If you've got loads of cash, just head to all the alchemy shops, buy all the ingredients you can and just sit and make potions, then sell them all again afterwards and start again."
    • I've put together a list of all of the skill trainers in Skyrim organized by town instead of by skill. You can view it here.
  • Discover 100 Locations

In order to discover a location all you have to do is walk up to it so it flashes up with “Location discovered: blah blah” on the screen… there are 300+ locations in all, so 100 is absolutely nothing. If the worst comes to the worst, pick a place on the map and walk to it, stopping at every location along the way. The more locations you discover, the less traveling and more fast-traveling you’ll be able to do in the future. Think of it that way.

  • Read 50 Skill Books

There’s no out and out shortcut with this one, you basically have to just keep reading as many books as you possibly can, hoping that they give you a skill point. That means reading books on desks and in book cases for the most part. Remember, you can read a book without stealing it and getting caught for stealing, so go into people’s houses and read as much as you can without actually putting the book in your inventory.

It’s probably worth nothing though that the Hitting The Books mission from the Urag gro-Shub sends you to get books from Fellglow Keep and upon returning them Urag will give you a handful of skill books in return for successfully completing it (provided you’ve not read them elsewhere). There’s also a library in The Arcanaeum inside the College of Winterhold as well, where you’ll find skill books.

Thanks to jamby, there is a Skill Book Guide at the end of the trophy guide. Please see it for the complete list of locations.

  • Acquire a Daedric Artifact

    See "Oblivion Walker."

  • Collect 15 Daedric Artifacts

(Missable and Glitched) Daedra within the Elder Scrolls series basically means divine and powerful beings. For the most part these beings and their actions are evil, so in getting 15 Daedric artefacts, the chances are you're going to have to destroy plenty of evil spirits along the way. Some of the Daedric artefacts come from shrine missions, where you must interact with the spirit of the shrine and perform some crazy ol’ quest for them and others you’ll come across in Skyrim. In return, you get a Daedric artefact.

The truth is, these shrine missions are some of the best missions in the game so this won’t seem like that much of a chore and they take you to some interesting and wonderful places. Enjoy these! They are listed in the next post.

Why is this missable? Well, you can't miss any of the quests, but the decisions that you make within each quest can make you miss out on an artifact.

Warning: Several of the quests can potentially glitch on you, in particular the Skull of Corruption if you let the mage enter the tower before you. Make saves often, before each quest for example so that if something glitches on you, there won't be as much backtracking. The trophy itself is also extremely glitchy and may not pop when it's supposed to, see here for help if things go wrong: LINK

Update: The latest patch makes it so that Savior's Hide and the Ring of Hircine do not count for two artifacts, only once, even if you get both. Thanks to Cold Fusion for confirming.

    • Mace of Molag Bal – House of Horrors quest in Markarth – As you walk past the abandoned house when you’re in the city – not the first time – someone will ask you to accompany them inside. Finish the quest (including finding the priest of Boethiah) and follow it through to the end to grab a Daedric artefact.
    • Dawnbreaker - The Break of Dawn quest, received at Statue to Merida – west of Solitude. It’s basically a fetch, return and dungeon crawl mission. Complete it for the Daedric artefact.
    • Spellbreaker - The Only Cure quest, received at the Shrine to Peryite, which can be found on the top of the mountain in between Markarth and Solitude. It’s worth activating early so you can keep an eye open for the goods on the shopping list. The actual quest itself is long and tough, so don’t tackle below a level 20, at least.
    • Sanguine’s Rose – In the Vilemyr Inn in Ivarstead you’ll meet a chap called Sam Guevenne who will challenge you to a drinking competition which will initiate the “Night to Remember” quest. That is where I started the quest, but it is a radiant quest and it's starting point changes. It may be different for you. The only definite thing is that it starts at an inn/pub. Which inn changes. Challenge him and then embark on one of the most amusing quests of Skyrim. Your reward is the Sanguine’s Rose staff.
    • Azura's Star/The Black Star – If you head to Azura’s Shrine on the top of the big mountain, just south of Winterhold you can start “The Black Star” quest and eventually get The Black Star artefact or Azura's Star, depending on where you take the artefact.
    • Wabbajack – Wandering the streets of Solitude is a chap called Derevin who wants you to get a message to his master. This will trigger “The Mind of Madness” quest where you’ll have to go to the Pegasus Wing in the Blue Palace and search for him. Complete the quest and get the artefact. Stuck? Need assistance in this quest? See below.
      • Quick note: you might find the waking up Pelagius sequence rather tricky, so basically the solution is this: shoot Pelgius with Wabbajack, shoot wolf, shoot goat, shoot bandit, shoot Pelagius, shoot Hagraven, shoot Pelagius, shoot Flame Atronach, shoot dragon priest, done. The paranoia sequence, shoot the king. And finally, the mind sequence, grow Pelagius twice and then grow anger once (with the Wabbajack).
    • (Missable) Mehrunes’ Razor – Sometime in the game you’ll get a message from a courier to visit the museum in Dawnstar – visit it. Visit it even if you don’t and start the “Pieces of the Past” quest to get your hands on Mehrunes’ Razor, which will send you to three places in Skyrim to get the three pieces of the sword.? You must kill Silus at the end to get the artefact.
    • (Missable) Savior’s Hide – In Falkreath at the Falkreath Barracks (east of town), downstairs in the Falkreath jail you’ll find a chap called Sinding who will give you his cursed ring and thus starts the quest, “Ill Met by Moonlight.”
      • Again, like the rest, you must choose to kill or risk not getting the reward.
      • You cannot have the Ring of Hircine and Savior's Hide. You must kill Sinding instead of helping him. Thanks to jamby for the info.
      • It is possible to get both Savior's Hide and the Ring of Hircine and have them both count. You will have to kill the hunters and then go back and kill Sinding. Thanks to Rawra for confirming.
    • (Missable) Masque of Clavicus Vile – The first time you enter Falkreath through the front gate the guard will mention something about the blacksmith’s dog going missing. Speak to him and then go after the dog. When you meet the dog you’ll initiate the “A Daedra’s Best Friend” quest and head off to Haemar’s Shame at the south of the large mountain with High Hrothgar on it – east of Helgen – note: you have to follow the dog but he has terrible path finding, so you could just meet him there.
      • You’ll then set off to retrieve The Rueful Axe from Rimrock Burrow and return it.
      • NOTE: Do NOT kill Barbas with the axe when you return, give it back to Clavicus and get the Daedric masque.
    • Oghma Infinium – During the main quest you’ll meet Septimus Sigmus who will send you off to get an Elder Scrolls. During this quest he will start another quest called “Discearning the Transmundane” where you’ll have to take an imprint of the Elder Scroll on his Lexicon. Giving that to Septimus then opens up the next stage: harvesting blood of an Orc, Dark Elf, Wood Elf, High Elf and Falmer – honestly, do this quest as early as possible so you can grab the blood as you go along. Every time you can harvest some blood it will give you an option when you interact with their corpse (harvest blood or search body). Get all 5 and head back to Septimus’ outpost, north of Winterhold. If you’re curious where to find the Orc and Elf blood, loot bandit camps as they often roam around with them, for the Falmer, try Mzulft (southeast of Windhelm) on the first level, right near the door down to the Boilery – there is one lowly Falmer here.
      • NOTE: The Oghma Infinium is bloody ace and raises a lot of your certain skills (depending on what path you choose), use it late on for added effect! We even went one step further and broke it down for you...
      • Each path improves the levels listed next to them below by 5 levels. Depending on which you have higher ratings for depends on the best route to take:
        • Choosing the path of might increases: smithing, heavy armour, blocking, two-handed, one-handed, archery.
        • Choosing the path of shadows increases: light armour, sneaking, lock-picking, pick-pocketing, speech and alchemy.
        • Choosing the path of magic increases: illusion, destruction, conjuration, restoration, alteration and enchanting.
    • Ebony Mail – East of Windhelm you’ll find the Sacellum of Boethiah where you’ll find a cult and be able to initiate the quest, “Boethiah’s Calling.”
      • You’ll have to lead someone there and sacrifice them. All I did was head to Riften, went to the The Bee and Barb and enlisted the help of the mercenary (Marcurio) who sits downstairs, for 500 gold. Don’t just kill them though, instruct them to touch the beacon (“I need you to do something,” then click on the ‘pillar of sacrifice’) and then when they are trapped, then slay them. After that, complete the quest and retrieve the artefact. Simples.
    • (Missable) Skull of Corruption – If you head to the Windpeak Inn in Dawnstar you’ll see a bit of a situation arise with locals speaking to Erandur regarding some night terrors they’ve been having. Speak to Erandur and start the “Waking Nightmare” quest.
      • It’s a simple follow him, go here, go there trophy (note: the Dreamstride book is on the balcony area in the far corner) but at the end when you get the chance to kill Erandur whilst he’s performing the ritual, kill him and you’ll get the Skull of Corruption. If you don’t, he destroys it.
    • (Missable) Ring of Namira – In Markarth, in the Understone Keep you’ll find a priest called Verulus who wants you to head into the Hall of the Dead to investigate what’s going on. The quest starts off as a miscellaneous objective and will soon turn into the quest, “The Taste of Death” once you’ve spoken to and agreed to help Eola in clearing Reachcliff Cave. There is a potential that you could say no to helping Eola… don’t!
      • In order to get the ring you have to kill Verulus as he lies on the table and then eat his flesh.
    • Volendrug – (apparently have to be at least a level 9 to start this quest) West of Riften (slightly south too) you’ll find an Orc camp called Largashblur. The camp itself will be being attacked by a giant, once it’s dead speak to Atub in the robes. Be careful not to hit the Orcs and anger them. You’ll have to go and fetch troll fat (there’s trolls nearby) and a Daedra heart (which could be tricky… you get it from a Daedra, not necessarily a prince, but a spirit; there are some Daedra inside the Shrine of Mehrunes’ Dagon if you’ve not already been in there). If not, you’ll have to buy one – we found one inside the Hall of Counternance/Attainment at the College of Winterhold. Enthir was selling them. You can also find both in Kodlak's room at Jorrvaskr in Whiterun.
      • Get the ingredients, head back, complete the short quest and kabblamo, Volendrug is yours. Yamarz will take you to Followstone Cave if you’re interested and want to meet him there (it’s northeast of Riften). No messing this one up. Yes, you’ll be fighting a giant or two too! Once you put the weapon on the shrine at the end, don’t forget to pick it up off the top of where the skull once was!
    • Ebony Blade – In order to start this quest you need to be a level 20 and have completed the main “Dragon Rising” quest. Also, if you choose the Stormcloaks in the civil war storyline, it doesn’t matter, you just have to find the old Jarl. He's in the basement of the Blue Palace in Solitude (interestingly, his son is still in Dragonsreach). To start this one, ask the bartender in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun about rumours, then go see the Jarl (where depends on which side you chose) and activate “The Whispering Door” quest.
      • You’ll need the key to open the whispering door to get the Ebony Blade; the best way: pickpocket it from the Yarl or Forengar (you can kill him and get the key but you can’t buy spells off him then).

NOTE: THE SKELETON KEY FOR THE THIEVES' GUILD DOES NOT COUNT - CONFIRMED.

  • Absorb a dragon soul

See “Dragon Hunter” for details on how to net this trophy.

  • Absorb 20 dragon souls

According to Bethesda (pre-release), the location and spawns of dragons is entirely random and unscripted, but there are obviously some that aren’t – their lairs are indicated by a small dragon head on the mini-map and the radar. However, that said, I’ve jotted down a list of ALL the places I encountered dragons and their possible spawns, but before that… tactics!

Firstly, to get this trophy you need to kill the dragon and stand near its deathly remains to absorb its soul – it’s automatic, so just stand close. Secondly, how you take down a dragon is entirely down to how you shape your, but their behaviour is largely the same.

They essentially circle, hover, spit down whatever magicka they have (which is their “shout”), rinse and repeat, with the odd time them landing, spewing more magic your way and if you get behind them, slamming you with their tales. Some of the stronger dragons later on in the game actually eat you as well (mostly Elder Dragons), so be mindful of getting too close.

Being a specialist mage and archer, I’m a distance fighter, which has allowed me to adopt a near flawless strategy. It basically boils down to hiding behind cover and then popping out at the right time to do your damage – the cover protects you from the spell and allows you to pop out at the right time.

Depending on what the dragon spews out will depend on what spells you use – he uses fire, use ice, etc. This isn’t just a mutually exclusive strategy for archers/mages, because warriors, etc. have the ability to use Dragon Shouts too – the Frost Breath and Fire Ball are good examples, but then again, using the slow down time Shout warriors can get close and deal some massive amounts of damage.

A great little strategy is to let them fight whoever else is around as well – they don’t focus all their aggression on you; the same with other creatures and beasts that are in the vicinity – and then step in after one of them is dead to a.) either nab the soul and kill the the creature; or b.) loot the other creature and then finish off the dragon. On so many occasions with creatures that range from skeletons and Draugr Overlords to Wispmothers and mammoths, they’ve distracted the dragon long enough for me to deal some risk free damage.

It’s essentially finding a strategy that you’re comfortable with though, and those are just a few tips that I’ve been able to hone in my 100 hours with the game.

The truth is though, that there are more than enough dragons to net this trophy just in general gameplay and through questing, but you’ll need a lot more if you want to get dragon shouts galore, so use this handy guide.

The list of possible spawns is:

    Dragon Encounters & Possible Spawns:

    • Outside Whiterun – main story quest.
    • Kynesgrove - Found during the main quest, “A Blade in the Dark,” at the burial ground in the hills.
    • Narzulbur – Directly east of Kynesgrove is the Orc camp. There was a dragon flying up and around the corner of the mountains where the Orc camp is.
    • Rannveig’s Fast (south of Morthal) – outside the entrance, protecting a Dragon Shout.
    • Southwest of Helgen (near Bonechill Passage) – Twice I’ve had one spawn here: one an ice dragon and one a fire dragon. Tricky terrain here to fight them, so save when you reach the decimated fort area to make sure you don’t meet your maker and lose all your progress.
    • Ancient’s Ascent – guarding a Dragon Shout, after going through Bonechill Passage.
    • Lost Tongue Overlook – Get bounty mission from Wilhelm in Ivarstead’s Inn or just head south of Riften.
    • South Skybound Watch – smack bang in the middle of Helgen and Riverwood in the mountainous bit. Powerful Wispmothers may be here, so if you can, let them fight and mop up the afters, otherwise you could get pounded by both!
    • Autumnwatch Tower – South of Ivarstad (and further south more of the Rift Imperial Camp) you’ll find a couple of towers in the mountain. It’s dragon fighting time! Ice dragons too. Plenty of cover for ranged attacks and for mages.
    • Arcwind Point – Directly west of the Autumnwatch Tower. There’s also a Draugr Overlord here too. Let the two fight while you whittle down the dragon while he’s occupied. Careful, up the stairs from where the Draugr Overlord is though is a Draugr Death Overlord who is tough as hell (speaking from the perspective of a level 14, which is the level I was when I reached him first).
    • Brownstrewn Crest – Directly south of Windhelm in the middle of the swampland up on the top of a big large hill. Guarding a dragon shout.
    • Shor’s Stone – A small mining village is in the non snowy mountain range in between Windhelm and Riften, on the right hand side.
    • Northwind Summit – After receiving a letter from a “friend” regarding a source of power in the mountains between Windhelm and Riften, round the corner from Shor’s Stone, you’ll fight a dragon.
    • Wreck of the Winter War – Northeast of Windhelm is a wreckage, and to the west of the wreck on the shore, a dragon has been known to turn up. Watch out for the bears as well!
    • Mount Anthor – The middle mountain in the range to the northwest of Windhelm is home to a big scary dragon.
    • Darkwater Crossing has been known to spawn its fair share of dragons too. Specifically blood dragons. Happened about 40 hours into the game.
    • Dragontooth Crater, which is in between Solitude and Markarth in the northwest of Skyrim. The large mountain range there.
    • Shearpoint – Directly west of Windhelm is a dragon hangout on the top of the big mountain nearest it. The second peak, furthest away, that is.
    • Eldersblood Peak – At the top of the mountain, south of Morthal, you’ll find Eldersblood Peak where a dragon and a drgaon shout is.
    • Twilight Sepulcher – West of Falreath, in the mountains sits a small cove. Dragon may not land so lure him out into the open.
    • Karthspire – When I headed here on a main story mission called Alduin’s Wall, there was a dragon there waiting. East of Markarth and halfway between a little village called Rorikstead (not on the map, need to discover).

There are more of course and in fact, they pop up all over the place and very often, but there are enough here to grab the trophy.

  • Learn all three words of a shout

See “Thu’um Master” for details and locations on the game’s dragon shouts.

  • Learn 20 shouts

Because our main character is “Dragonborn,” he can learn the language of the dragons to perform mighty “shouts” – which are spells, if we’re being perfectly honest. It doesn’t require magicka to use and it’s not specifically for mages, so even warriors can have fun with magic!

Anyway, I digress, throughout Skyrim are ancient inscriptions that the Dragonborn can absorb to use as their own – AKA dragon shouts. Each shout has three words and the more words you have, the more powerful a shout can be, so for the “Words of Power” trophy, you need all three of one specific shout. By standing near one of these ancient inscriptions, you’ll learn a shout. For this trophy, you need to learn 20 separate shouts (not 20 words, 20 shouts), but you don't need to learn all three words for each shout. Since there are only 20 shouts in the game, the earliest that you can earn this trophy is after "Dragonslayer" is completed.

For the most part, dragons generally guard dragon shouts as well, if not, it’s some Daedric being, so be careful and be prepared. Sometimes though, they’re just well hidden. I’ve tried to describe them as easily as possible using the 9 major cities in Skyrim as landmarks, so use those as your guide. When you’re close enough the locations should appear on the maps anyway, and you’ll generally find that dragon icons means there’s a dragon and a shout there. Without further ado, here’s a list of as many dragon shouts I’ve found and while it’s not ALL of them, it is enough for you to get the trophy – and then some.

The dragon shouts and their locations are as follows in the next post. The order that they are in is not the order that you have to find them. Whichever word of a shout that you find first will be the first word. The location of that word doesn't matter.

Update: The shouts that were added in Dawnguard and Dragonborn also count towards this trophy. Thanks to Cold Fusion for confirming. See those guides for details.

    • Unrelenting Force
      • #1 - "Bleak Falls Barrow" – West of Riverwood in the mountains – get sent there on the first real main story mission from Whiterun (north of Riverdale) or for “The Golden Claw” mission from Lucan in Riverwood.
      • #2 – Given to you by Arngeir in the main quest “The Way of the Voice” when you get to High Hrothgar.
      • #3 – Given to you by Arngeir after you take back the horn to him in the main quest, “Horn of Jurgen Windcaller.”
    • Whirlwind Sprint
      • #1 – Given to you by Borri in the quest “The Way of the Voice” when you get to High Hrothgar, after you get Unrelenting Force #2.
      • #2 – Volskygge – High in the mountains in the corner of the map of Skyrim, west of Solitude, sits an ancient temple with a dragon shout being guarded by a powerful demon. It’s not actually at where “Volskygge” is on the map, but northwest, up the closest mountain.
      • #3 - Dead Man's Respite - Southwest of Morthal is where you'll find this tomb. You'll visit this in the sidequest "Tending the Flames" which you can get from the Bard's College in Solitude.
    • Become Etheral
      • #1 – Ustengrav - After “The Way of the Voice” quest, Arngeir will send you to Ustengrav Depths to retrieve the Horn of Jurgen Windcaller. When you reach the main cavern room, instead of heading onto the objective, head down the outside and to the bottom. Where the waterfall is with the green trees you’ll see the plinth with the word of power on it.
      • #2 – Lost Valley Redoubt - In between Markarth and Falkreath is a huge settlement with waterfalls and large stone structures. Get to the top, fight the Hagravens and in their little den, at the end of the Bard’s Leap Summit point (where you’re stood over the waterfall), you’ll find this dragon shout.
      • #3 - Ironbind Barrow - Southwest of Winterhold and north of the Nightgate Inn is where you'll find this draugr infested dungeon.
    • Ice Form
      • #1 – Mount Anthor - This shout can be found in Mount Anthor, the middle mountain in the range to the northwest of Windhelm, which is home to a big scary dragon. You can get this location from Arngeir at High Hrothgar when talking about dragon shout locations.
      • #2 - Saarthal - Found in the mission “Under Saarthal” for the Circle of Mages, at the end after you’ve discovered the artefact in the Saarthal dungeon, on your way out. It’s southwest of Winterhold.
      • #3 - Frostmere Crypt - Between Morthal and Dawnstar is the resting place of The Pale Lady.
    • Kyne’s Peace

  • Reach Level 50

How you level up in Skyrim is simple, yet complicated. Unlike most RPGs you don’t get experience for quests or kills, so levelling up the conventional way is out of the question, in fact, it’s all about leveling up sub-skills, which in turn levels up your character level. Every time you level up you get chance to whack 10 points on magika, stamina or health, as well as applying a perk.

There are 18 skills in the game which range from combat orientated skills like archery, one-handed weapons and blocking; and magic use like restoration, destruction and conjuration; all the way through to more deceptive tasks like sneaking, pickpocketing and lock-picking; and your general working jobs, like smithing, alchemy and enchanting.

In order to hit 50 you’ll have to do a wide range of tasks and level them up as far as possible. The truth is that you’ll never be able to stick with one discipline if you want to get to level 50 – I reached level 100 on my archery skill by about level 35. That means you’ll have to mix things up… use magic, use archery, use one-handed weapons, use two-handed weapons, smith weapons, enchant weapons, pick-pocket people, pick locks… the more you do, the quicker you’ll level up – so when you reach that level 100 on a skill, it’s time to move onto something else. It is worth nothing that a level 10 in a skill isn’t going to raise you character level as much as a level 90 would.

There are 3 ways though to level up skills and for tips on how to raise the individual skill levels, see the “Skill Master” trophy description where there are tons of tips that will help raise skill subsets across the board, getting you closer to that level 50 trophy quicker than usual.

DLC: Dawnguard

10 trophies

  • Complete "Awakening"

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. This trophy will unlock upon completion of the second quest in the Dawnguard main story, "Awakening":

After arriving at Fort Dawnguard and talking to Isran, you will be sent to Dimhollow Crypt to investigate Vampire activity there. Work your way through the dungeon until you reach Dimhollow Carvern. After a few more rooms you will have to defeat Lokil (a fairly powerful Vampire) and solve a small puzzle in the centre of the room. To do so push the button on the pedestal in the middle, then go up to each brazier and press to set them in the right slot so that they light up. Once the pedestal rises, a short conversation will ensue after which this trophy will pop.

  • Complete "Beyond Death"

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. This trophy will unlock upon completion of the "Beyond Death" quest:

This quest is particularly lengthy and contains a number of steps. Firstly, once you enter the Soul Cairn, follow the quest marker until you eventually come to the large ruin. Once there, speak to the woman who sends you off to kill three Boneyard Keepers in three different towers. Find all three by following the quest marker (one or two of these may actually lead you to a sort of well that transports you to the top of the tower where the Keeper resides) and kill them. Then return to the woman and follow her into the Bone Yard. Defeat Durnehviir the dragon who promptly attacks and then retrieve the Elder Scroll from its case. Exit the Boneyard and talk to Durnehviir (this is the first step to obtaining the Soul Tear trophy too). Then you must run all the way back to the portal and go through it back to Castle Volkihar before this quest is completed and the trophy is unlocked.

  • Complete "Kindred Judgment"

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. This is the last quest in the Dawnguard main story and, regardless of which side you chose, the trophy will unlock once it's completed:

This quest begins in different ways depending on who you sided with during the story:

    • If you chose the Dawnguard you must return to Fort Dawnguard and formulate a plan with Isran to attack Castle Volkihar. Once you travel there, you must fight various Vampires on the bridge leading to the castle and even more inside the main hall. Fight them as you would any normal Mage (with your own magic attacks and ranged weapons), as they like to throw a lot of spells at you. Once they are killed, head to the Cathedral by following your quest marker.
    • If you chose the Vampire path, head directly to Castle Volkihar then go straight to the Cathedral.

Once you enter the Cathedral, despite whichever path you chose, you will have to fight Lord Harkon. He will teleport frequently up to the balconies during the battle but there's no point chasing after him as he'll teleport back to the floor again, therefore just wait until he comes to you and attack him when you can. Once you deplete his health by a fair amount, he will retreat to the blood fountain at the back of the Cathedral to heal. He is invincible to normal attacks here but if you have Auriel's Bow, the special arrows will penetrate his barrier. Once his health is fully depleted, he will explode in a cloud of bats and you will have a conversation with either Isran or Garan Marethi (depending on who you sided with), after which the story will be completed and this trophy will unlock.

  • Complete "Lost to the Ages"

"Lost to the Ages" is an extremely long sidequest exclusive to Dawnguard. There are a number of steps required to complete it:

    1. Find and take a copy of The Aetherium Wars:

The Aetherium Wars is a book found only with the Dawnguard expansion. You may have picked it up from one of the following locations during your playthrough:

    • Bard's College
    • Castle Dour Dungeon
    • Castle Volkihar Undercroft
    • Dragonsreach (Farengar's Lab)
    • Fellglow Keep
    • Fort Dawnguard
    • Fort Snowhawk
    • Hall of the Vigilant
    • Ilinalta's Deep
    • Palace of the Kings
    • Rannveig's Fast
    • Redwater Den
    • Ruunvald Temple
    • Thalmor Embassy
    • Understone Keep (Calcelmo's Dwemer Museum)

However if you have completed the main story and still don't have the book, by far the most convenient location is off the body of Katria in Arkngthamz. Since this is where you will have to travel once you find the book anyway, it is much simpler and quicker to travel there.

    2. Travel to Arkngthamz and obtain the first Aetherium Shard:

Arkngthamz is located in The Reach, South-East of Markarth. If you don't have the book and are going straight there, the quest marker won't be on your map so use the following image to help you (thanks to the Elder Scrolls Wiki):

Once you enter the location, navigate through a few rooms before you come upon Katria's body. Take her journal and a copy of The Aetherium Wars if you don't already have it. Work your way through the ruins until you reach the Tonal Lock. Here you must shoot the Kinetic Resonators in a certain order to unlock the door in front of you. You can use any bow and arrows that you have with you but if by any chance you don't have one then you can retrieve Katria's bow, the "Zephyr", from a nearby log.

The order you must shoot the Resonators in are: bottom left, bottom right, top left, top right and bottom middle. Shooting them in the wrong order will lead to various enemies and traps attacking you. Once you have opened the door, go through it and claim the first Shard of Aetherium. Aetherium is a crystallised substance that you can craft a powerful item out of later in the quest.

    3. Claim the other three Aetherium Shards:

Once you claim an Aetherium Shard, your quest marker will change location to another Shard. The locations of the different Shards never change, but the order they appear in does. The following are the three different locations of Aetherium Shards:

    Deep Folk Crossing

This is an easy one that doesn't require much exploration. Simply go to the bridge and cross it heading north. Walk a short distance north and this Shard will be on a plinth at the top of a small hill.

    Mzulft

This Shard isn't actually located inside the ruins of Mzulft, but rather the Dwarven Storeroom to the south of its entrance. To open the initial door you will need to pick the Apprentice lock, then to claim the Shard you will need to pick an Expert level lock on the gate which stands in front of it. This will require you to either have a high Lockpicking level or a lot of lockpicks. If you are planning to get 100% in this DLC you will have to be a very high level for Legend anyway, so you can always save this part until your level is much higher.

DarqueDragon has found a way to obtain the Shard without needing to pick the Expert lock:

As soon as you enter the storeroom, look to the right. There is an Apprentice locked door with some Dwarven Ingots and a couple of chests inside. There is also another Apprentice locked door inside, directly behind the ingots and chests. This door leads you to the other side of the Expert gate, allowing you to get the shard with two Apprentice locks instead of an Expert lock.

    Raldbthar

If you have done the quest "Mourning Never Comes" for the Dark Brotherhood, the first half of this dungeon should be clear, meaning you can run straight through until you get to Raldbthar Deep Market. At the end of this area, you will need to unblock four gears by removing various items which are jamming them. Once you have done this, press the button which will lower the bridge. Fight through some more rooms and you will eventually come upon the Shard.

    4. Find the Aetherium Forge:

To find the entrance to the Forge, you will need to consult Katria's Journal. The location is the Ruins of Bthalft just south of Ivarstead. Once there, place the four Shards on the globe with the arrow through it. Go down the lift that appears and work your way through the ruin. Again, you will have to shoot two Kinetic Resonators to gain access to the Forge room.

Once you are in the Forge room, you will have to shut off the two valves to stop the steam coming from the floor, and then defeat a variety of Dwarven machines. The final one will be the Forgemaster, a very powerful Dwarven Centurion who can breathe fire at you.

    5. Forge an Aetherium item:

Once he is defeated take some supplies from the chest to the right of the room which you will need to forge an Aetherium item. Then go up to the Forge and you will be given a choice of crafting either the Aetherial Crown, the Aetherial Shield or the Aetherial Staff. Note: Once you forge an Aetherium item, you cannot forge any other and you will be forced to keep this item permanently.

Once the item is made, speak to Katria and this quest will be completed thus earning you this trophy.

  • Learn all three words of Soul Tear

"Soul Tear" is a new shout exclusive to Dawnguard which allows you to rip the souls out of enemies, filling a Soul Gem and allowing the deceased to be raised from the dead as an ally. Unlike other Shouts in the game, "Soul Tear" is learned in a unique way:

First of all, you must have defeated Durnehviir during the "Beyond Death" quest in the Dawnguard main storyline. Once you do this and leave the Boneyard, he will automatically stop you and talk to you. He will teach you all three words of a Shout called "Summon Durnehviir", which you must unlock with three Dragon Souls. After you have done this, every time you summon him (as with any normal Shout, by holding ) he will teach you a new word of "Soul Tear". The recharge period of "Summon Durnehviir" is 5 minutes so once you can Shout again, summon him to learn a new word. To avoid having to actually wait 5 minutes, if you press then wait for 2-3 hours, the cool-down period will be over and you can cast the Shout again (thanks Bounty V for this tip!). Do this 3 times to fully learn the Shout and unlock this trophy. You do not need to unlock any of the three words with a Dragon Soul to earn this trophy; just knowing the three words is fine.

Note: You can only summon Durnehviir in wide open areas as he emerges from the ground so indoor, mountainous and wooded areas are not suitable. For further clarification on this, see Bounty V's explanation below:

If you try to summon him in an area too small, such as in the woods or indoors, your crosshairs will turn red for just a second to indicate the Shout could not be performed. To accompany this, the Shout sound is abruptly cut off and almost sounds like an audio glitch.

  • Use the special power of Auriel's Bow

To unlock this trophy you must first acquire Auriel's Bow at the end of "Touching The Sky", which is the penultimate quest of the Dawnguard main storyline. Once you have acquired it you are given twelve Sunhallowed Elven Arrows by Knight-Paladin Gelebor. As soon as you get these, simply aim at the Sun with Auriel's Bow and the Sunhallowed Arrows equipped and fire a shot directly towards the Sun. The Sun will grow extremely large and explode, causing beams of light to fire down, harming enemies (especially Vampires). Note: The trophy will not unlock until the explosion has finished, which is around 30 seconds to a minute after you fire your arrow so do not worry if it doesn't pop immediately.

If you have used all 12 Sunhallowed Arrows before you have unlocked this trophy, you can get more from Gelebor in groups of twenty. You have to bring at least 20 Elven Arrows to him and he will turn them into Sunhallowed Elven Arrows. Furthermore, you can obtain Bloodcursed Elven Arrows from Serana in the same manner. These arrows have a different special power, however, which is to blot out the sun for a whole day (which is particularly useful if you chose the Vampire path). Using either power will grant you this trophy.

You may also have difficulty locating the Sun in the sky if it is particularly cloudy or stormy. Therefore, if you have completed "Alduin's Wall" in the main Skyrim quest, you can use your "Clear Skies" shout to make the Sun clearly visible in the sky.

  • Acquire 11 werewolf perks

Silver Hand" for the Companions. If you chose to cure yourself of Lycanthropy at the end of the Companions questline, you can talk to Aela the Huntress once at any point once you have installed Dawnguard to get it back. If you are a Vampire Lord already, becoming a Werewolf will "cure" you of it at the expense of Lycanthropy. This trophy is technically missable since you can become a Vampire Lord as many times as you like (which will cancel out your Lycanthropy) but you can only become a Werewolf again once.

In order to acquire Werewolf perks you must first be in Beast Form. This is enabled by going to your Magic menu and finding "Beast Form" under the Powers tab. Activate it just like you would a normal Shout by pressing . This transforms you into a Werewolf for 2mins 30secs, with 30 seconds added on for every enemy you kill and then feed on, which you can do ad infinitum until you stop feeding. Note: You can only activate Beast Form once a day, which is why it will come in especially handy to have completed the Daedric Quest "Ill Met By Moonlight" and obtained the Ring of Hircine, which allows you unlimited transformations into Beast Form as long as you are already Lycanthropic.

Once you are in Beast Form you can attack enemies with and to kill them. When you do, you have the option to feed on them by pressing on their corpse. If you feed on a human, you will get a message saying "Heart consumed: Werewolf perk progress increased". You will have to feed on an increasing number of corpses to unlock each subsequent perk. It is highly recommended that you activate the "Savage Feeding" perk as quickly as possible (the earliest this is available is once you unlock your fourth perk, which is 31 feedings) as this allows you to feed on all corpses except for undead enemies (skeletons, Draugr and Vampires) instead of just humans. Another helpful trick is to cast Soul Trap on a corpse that you have already fed on once you revert back to your normal form. For some bizarre and unknown reason this also counts towards perk progress.

This trophy will require a fair amount of grinding. The quickest way to earn this trophy, providing you don't care about bounties and who you kill, is to travel between the major cities and kill/feed on as many people in the cities as you can. There are usually a lot of guards to be found, as well as many of the citizens. Only a few are unkillable and will kneel down when you attack them rather than dying. If you don't feel like wiping out whole cities, then the best way to get kills is to travel to the various Imperial/Stormcloak, Bandit and Giant Camps dotted around the map as there are usually plenty of enemies to kill in these.

Bounty V has provided an excellent explanation for farming kills:

You can feed on any human (or animal assuming you unlocked the Savage Perk) corpse regardless of whether or not you 1) killed it while in Beast Mode or 2) even killed it at all. Outside of towns, or places that automatically respawn enemies after a certain period of time, you can 'backtrack' and feed on the corpses.

This is particularly helpful for places such as Forts, or tombs that held mostly human enemies. Once you have the Savage perk, the city of Mzulft (the huge cavern city that houses Falmer) is a great place to wrack up perk progress. If you're concerned about surviving - just clear it as a human(oid) then go back through feeding.

To view your perk tree, press whilst in Beast Form and unlock perks with the button. Once you unlock all 11 of the following perks (which requires a total of 164 feedings), this trophy will pop:

    • Animal Vigor
    • Bestial Strength (all 4 levels)
    • Gorging
    • Savage Feeding
    • Totem of Ice Brothers
    • Totem of Terror
    • Totem of the Moon
    • Totem of the Predator
  • Acquire 11 vampire perks

To acquire the ability to transform into a Vampire Lord, you must accept Harkon's Gift at the end of the quest "Bloodline" or accept the gift of Vampirism from Serana at any point after completing the main Dawnguard questline.

To gain Vampire Lord perks, you must first be in Vampire Lord form. This is again selected in the "Powers" tab of the Magic menu and then activated with . Unlike Beast Form, you can change to and from your Vampire Lord form as often as you like. There are two different combat modes in your Vampire form, both of which allow you to obtain perks by consuming the life blood of your foes. Firstly, there is Blood Magic mode, allowing you to cast spells whilst hovering above the ground. Of these spells, only killing enemies with Drain Life (used with ) will contribute towards perk progress. In Melee mode you no longer hover but run on the ground like normal. You can no longer use magic, only your fists. To consume an enemy's life blood, you must hold to do a power attack bite, which will kill an enemy outright if they have low enough health. This can be a bit hit-and-miss though so it is recommended to use the Drain Life spell when you can, provided you have enough Magicka.

As with Werewolf perk progress, this trophy will take some grinding. However, farming kills for Vampire Lord is made easier by the fact that all enemies and animals count towards perk progress from the beginning. For tips on the best way to farm kills, see the tips provided in the Werewolf Mastered trophy description.

To view your Vampire Lord perk tree, press the button whilst in Vampire Lord form and press to select perks. In total, you will need to consume the life blood of 156 enemies to unlock all of the following 11 perks:

    • Blood Healing
    • Corpse Curse
    • Detect All Creatures
    • Mist Form
    • Night Cloak
    • Poison Talons
    • Power of the Grave
    • Summon Gargoyle
    • Supernatural Reflexes
    • Unearthly Will
    • Vampiric Grip
  • Change your face

New to Dawnguard is the ability to change the physical appearance of your character. To do this, visit The Ragged Flagon in Riften and find a Wood Elf named Galathil who is a hooded figure sitting on a bench. You can either do this of your own accord or by talking to guards in the various cities, who will occasionally mention her and give you a quest marker to her location. Note: You do not need to be a member of the Thieves Guild to enter and talk to her.

Galathil will offer you the chance to change your appearance for 1000 Gold. You do not even have to change anything about your appearance for this trophy to unlock, but you must still pay her and then back out. Finally, she will not change your face if you have contracted Vampirism from enemies in the main game or are a Vampire Lord from the Dawnguard main questline. You must first cure your Vampirism before you can change your face.

If you don't want to waste the 1000 Gold for the sake of the trophy, make a save first, then pay Galathil to change your appearance and unlock the trophy before loading your old save again. Thanks to Terminator for the tip.

  • Defeat a Legendary Dragon

New to the Dawnguard expansion is the Legendary Dragon type. These Dragons are extremely powerful therefore require you to be a very high level to make them appear. There is no definitive answer to when they start spawning, but the most commonly accepted level is 78. Therefore, depending on what level you start the DLC at, this trophy can be extremely time-consuming.

Once you are a high enough level, these dragons will randomly spawn as you are travelling around Skyrim. Travelling to the Dragon Lairs around the map (the locations in the mountains where a Word Wall can be found, guarded by a dragon) didn't seem to work for me as even at level 81 they were always Elder or Ancient Dragons. However, during my playthrough of Dawnguard, both random Dragon encounters I faced around the map were Legendaries. My first was just outside Riften when I fast-travelled there and walked out the entrance onto the main road, and the second was in the College of Winterhold courtyard. Once one spawns simply use your usual tactics to take it down, with a more watchful eye on your health as his attacks (even on Novice) can deplete your health quickly. Once he is defeated this trophy will unlock.

If you are struggling to find a Legendary Dragon, apparently there is a place where they are guaranteed to spawn. Go to Archwind Point, west of Autumnwatch Tower and south of Ivarstead and there should be a dragon there. Thanks to darkdante14 for this tip, and to BlueUltraNova for the video of this location below:

    Oghma Infinium Exploit

If you are already at level 78 or above, then this trophy shouldn't take you long. However, if you are much lower than that, then you face a tough task ahead of you, as to attain such a high level you will need almost all of your individual skills to be maxed at level 100. Luckily, there is a way to quickly boost to level 81 using the Oghma Infinium exploit. This requires you to have completed the Daedric quest "Discerning the Transmundane", which requires you to be at least level 15. Upon completion of this quest (a walkthrough can be found here), you will earn the Oghma Infinium as a reward. This is a book which upon reading will boost 6 skills of a certain type by 5 levels.

Now, once you have this book, do not read it yet. You will need to find a bookshelf, such as the one located in the living room of Breezehome. Once you find one, follow these steps to reach level 81 in no time (thanks to the Elder Scrolls Wiki):

    1. Activate the bookshelf with .
    2. Read the book while still in the bookshelf inventory and choose the desired skillset.
    3. Close the book after having chosen the path, then place the book on the bookshelf without exiting the bookshelf inventory between reading the chosen path and placing the book on the shelf.
    4. Now exit the bookshelf inventory; the book should appear on the bookshelf.
    5. Activate the book directly by hovering the cursor over it, not through the bookshelf inventory. Choose the "do not read" option then take the book from the shelf.
    6. This can be repeated as many times as desired to get all skills to 100.

If you wish to see a video walkthrough of this method, see this video by trendKiLLv01:

It is highly advisable to save very often when you do this (such as every 3 readings of the book) as it is very easy to make a mistake and if you do so the book is lost forever, as are your chances of speedy levelling. The 1.9 "Legendary" patch has permanently patched this exploit, so the only way to use it is to decline the 1.9 patch and do the glitch on the previous patch. If you have installed the 1.9 patch and saved your game, the only option available to you is to delete the game data from your PS3 and start a new game with no patches installed. Note: Deleting your patch and trying to do this on the same save file will not work since the save files are patched too, thus rendering it unplayable until you install the patch version/number it was last saved on. Therefore, you will have to start a new character from scratch and play offline. Once you have reached max level, you can then patch your game and find a Legendary dragon. Furthermore if you delete the patch and start a new game without it, any and all DLC you have installed will be unplayable until the latest patch is reinstalled.

In addition to this if you have already used the book on your main playthrough, then this method will not be available to you. If so (depending on how many levels you need to reach the minimum required level to spawn a Legendary dragon) it may be quicker to start a new game and use this method to quickly get that character to level 81. Bear in mind that this will take around 6-8 hours as you will need to get to level 15, then complete "Discerning the Transmundane" before you have access to the book.

If you are pretty close to level 78 already or do not feel like using an exploit to "cheaply" level up, then the following tips for the Skill Master trophy from Webb's trophy guide are still extremely useful:

DLC: Hearthfire

5 trophies

  • Adopt a child

In order to adopt a child you will need two things: A child's bedroom in one of your houses and a suitable child to adopt.

    1. Installing a child's bedroom:

Once you start the DLC and enter one of the 7 main towns, a courier will approach you with a letter informing you that a child's bedroom can be installed in any of your houses (including the ones available pre-DLC). Building the bedroom is done in the same way as building any other room in your house, i.e. going to the Jarl's steward in the city in which you own a house (e.g. Proventus Avenicci (Imperials) or Brill (Stormcloaks) in Whiterun if you own Breezehome) and asking him to install a children's bedroom. This will only cost 250 Gold but will replace your Alchemical Lab, with the exception of Hjerim and Proudspire Manor in Windhelm and Solitude respectively, where it will cost 3,000 Gold but will not replace your alchemical lab. If you didn't follow the Roadmap and have already built one of the DLC houses, you can of course build a child's bedroom in one of them and it will still count.

Note that after you earn this trophy, you can revert the child's bedroom back to an Alchemical Lab for 500 Gold, but your child will be sent back to Honorhall Orphanage as there is no longer a room for them. If you don't want to pay the Gold to build the child's bedroom in the first place you can make a save (before you convert the Lab into a bedroom) earn the trophy then reload the old save.

    2. Finding a child to adopt:

There are two different avenues you can pursue to adopt a child. The most fun method is to adopt one from Honorhall Orphanage in Riften. This will require you to have completed the first Dark Brotherhood quest, "Innocence Lost" and killed Grelod the Kind. After you have done this, Constance Michel will become the new headmistress of the orphanage. Once she has, she will send out leaflets advertising adoption from the orphanage, which will be delivered to you by a courier once you enter a major city (this will be given to you along with the notice that you can build a child's bedroom, if Constance became the headmistress before you installed Hearthfire).

Once you receive this leaflet, head over to the Orphanage in Riften and talk to Constance. When you tell her you are looking to adopt, she will ask you a few simple questions such as your name and who you are. For the latter question you should answer "I am Dragonborn", otherwise you will have to start the conversation again. After this she will ask you where your child will be living, your list of answers will depend on how many houses you have built a child's bedroom in. Choose the house you want your child to live in (e.g. "Breezehome") and she will accept you as a reliable parent.

The final thing left for you to do is meet the children in the orphanage and choose one to adopt. There are four choices:

    • Francois Beaufort
    • Hroar
    • Runa Fair-Shield
    • Samuel

Simply talk to any of these children and ask them if they want to be adopted.

Alternatively, you can go straight to one of the major cities and find a child who is willing to be adopted. There are again four of these:

    • Alesan - Dawnstar
    • Blaise - Solitude
    • Lucia - Whiterun
    • Sofie - Windhelm

Talk to these children and a conversation option to adopt them will appear. As long as you have a house with a child's bedroom, you can adopt one of these for the trophy. The maximum number of children you can adopt at any given time is two. Even if you have every single house you own fitted with a children's bedroom, you will not get the conversation option to adopt if you already have two children.

Once they accept your offer, this trophy will unlock.

    Further notes (thanks to Terminator):

Installing the Hearthfire DLC before starting the game for the first time will mean you won't get the note informing you of the Child's Bedroom Upgrade, because you don't have an existing house to upgrade.

Homesteads come with the Child's Bedroom options by default, unlike pre-built houses where you have to pay the Jarl's steward to install a Child's Bedroom. To make a Homestead ready to accept a Child, you need to build a single bed and a dresser in the Main Hall or a Child's bed and Chest in the Bedroom extension (you do not need to fully furnish any part of the home for it to count). Each Homestead comes with a book (found on the Carpentry table) that tells you what you need to build to make it Child friendly.

Homes are what you buy and Homesteads are what you build but Homesteads don't count as a Home in the Stats, though fortunately this doesn't negatively affect the trophies.

The Falkreath Homestead is very temperamental and doesn't always count as a suitable place for children to live, thus no adoptions can take place. To fix this you need to either load an earlier save, build additional Child facilities or wait it out and see if it fixes itself.

Being a Werewolf has no effect on being able to adopt a child, nor does not being the Dragonborn as it is possible as a Werewolf and by saying you are an Adventurer.

  • Buy a plot of land

Please see Land Baron for more details.

  • Build three wings on a house

Please see Master Architect for more details.

  • Buy three plots of land

[MISSABLE] There are three plots of land in Hearthfire which can be turned into new houses. These are:

    • Heljarchen Hall - Dawnstar
    • Lakeview Manor - Falkreath
    • Windstad Manor - Morthal

In order to buy the plot of land, you will need to be in good standing with the Jarls of these three cities. You will know when this is, as it will be the same time as when they tell you that you will be granted the title of "Thane" if you help three people in the city. In order to get to this point, the following quests will need to be completed:

Dawnstar - Complete the quest "Waking Nightmare" and then a radiant "Kill the Giant" quest for the Jarl of Dawnstar.

Falkreath - The quest from Jarl Siddgeir to bring him a bottle of Black-Briar Mead and then another radiant quest to kill a Bandit Leader. *See note on Falkreath below*

Morthal - Complete the quest "Laid to Rest" for the Jarl of Morthal (who is different depending on which faction you sided with in the Civil War quest-line).

After these quests are completed in each city, talk to the Jarl's steward and the option to purchase a plot of land will be available, each available at the cost of 5,000 Gold. If you were already the Thane of the cities before installing this DLC, you can skip straight to this step once you install it. Buying one plot will earn you Landowner, whilst buying all three will earn you this trophy.

*Note on Falkreath*: Getting the option to purchase the plot of land in Falkreath has proved particularly troublesome. The first problem which makes this trophy missable is that if you have completed the "Contract: Kill Helvard" radiant quest for the Dark Brotherhood, you will never get the option from the steward to buy the plot of land for Lakeview Manor. The only option you have is load an earlier save before you completed this quest or start again with a new character. Check the "Miscellaneous" tab of your quest log to see if you have done it or not. Note that you can still have the quest active, but you must not actually have killed Helvard.

If you haven't completed this quest you are lucky in the sense that the trophy can no longer be missed, but there are still some obstacles to overcome. It is likely that you are not getting the quest from Jarl Siddgeir to bring him a bottle of Black-Briar Mead. This is because this is part of a set of radiant quests called "Rare Gifts", which include the following:

    • Retrieve "The Mirror" book for Captain Aldis
    • Retrieve the "Song of the Alchemists" book for Lami
    • Retrieve the "Night Falls on Sentinel" book for Rustleif
    • Retrieve the Amulet of Arkay for Torbjorn Shatter-Shield
    • Retrieve a Mammoth Tusk for Ysolda

If any of these are still in your active quests under the "Miscellaneous" tab, you must complete it before the Jarl will ask you to bring him some Black-Briar Mead.

These problems were inherent in the Xbox 360 version too. There has been much more time for users of that console to solve the problems with this trophy. Therefore if you have followed the above advice but are still having problems, try seeing if any of the numerous tips contained within these two threads from our sister site can help you:

Possible fix for getting the Falkreath plot - Xbox360Achievements.org
Anyone having difficulty buying a house in Falkreath? - Xbox360Achievements.org

  • Build three houses

[MISSABLE] This trophy is the main body of the DLC and will be what you spend most of your time on. Note that this trophy is missable for the same reason as Land Baron; if you are unable to obtain the Falkreath plot of land, you will obviously be unable to build a house on it. See that trophy's description for more details.

There are two ways to go about it: The quicker/more expensive way, or the longer/cheaper way. The expensive way will set you back around 40,000 Gold (on top of the 15,000 spent on buying the three plots of land), whereas the cheaper way will cost you almost nothing but will add a minimum of two hours to your playtime. The expense refers to buying materials required to build your house, which you can buy yourself or get your Steward to order for you. Alternatively you can obtain all the materials yourself by mining/smelting/sawing but be warned that you will need a lot of materials, which will take a considerable amount of time to obtain. This guide will assume you are following the quicker/more expensive way but if you wish to obtain the materials yourself, you may do so.

    1. Preparation - building a Small House:

Before you can mould your house into how you want it, you will need to build a "Small House". Once you reach your plot of land, you will see four usable objects next to each other. From left to right these are:

    • Drafting Table - Here is where you choose what type of building room you wish to build. At this stage, only "Small House" will be available. Select an option creates a roped outline on the ground in your plot.
    • Chest - Here is where your building materials are deposited when you order them from your Steward. There are also some materials in here when you first buy your house to start you off. It acts just like any other chest, which means if you are over-encumbered you can place materials in here to use later.
    • Carpenter's Workbench - This is where you build the various sections of your house once you have selected a blueprint at the Drafting Table. The amount of materials you need to build each section is listed at the bottom.
    • Anvil - This is exactly the same as the other anvils in Skyrim that you use for smithing. With the addition of the DLC a new tab called "Building Materials" will have been added, here you can smith iron fittings, locks, hinges and nails.

First of all go to the Drafting Table and select "Small House Layout". Then go to your chest and collect the materials in there. Luckily, the game gives you enough to completely build your Small House. However, you will still need to go to the anvil and smith 20 nails, 1 iron fitting, 1 lock and 2 hinges. When this is done, go to the Carpenter’s Workbench and build the different sections of the Small House.

    2. Finding a Steward and accumulating materials:

If you want to finish building your houses quickly, assigning a Steward to your house is an absolute priority. To assign a Steward to your house, you must first have a Small House fully built on your plot of land. Then you need to find a follower and then take them to your plot of land. If they are suitable for the job, there will be a dialogue option to ask them to be a steward. For a list of all suitable followers please see this list.

Stewards provide a variety of services in your house, but the one strictly relevant to this trophy is that they can order building materials for you. These are as follows:

    • Clay - 20 bricks for 20 Gold
    • Quarried stone - 20 stones for 100 Gold
    • Sawn logs - 20 logs for 200 Gold

Once ordered, these materials will be automatically added your chest (with the exception of sawn logs, which will be added to the pile of logs near to the crafting area). Again, if you don’t want to hire a Steward, you can mine as much clay and quarried stone as you want from the deposits located on your plot of land, and you can saw logs from the various mills around Skyrim.

The only relevant materials that can’t be ordered from your Steward are Iron and Corundum Ingots. You will need around 150-200 Iron Ingots and 50 Corundum Ingots to fully build all three houses. You can either buy these from various blacksmiths around Skyrim or mine Iron and Corundum Ores and smelt them into ingots. Smelting is done by visiting any of the blacksmith shops around Skyrim (such as Warmaiden's in Whiterun) and using the smelter located next to the forge. Buying all the Ingots and materials from your Steward is what the 40,000 Gold was for, but you can take the time-consuming option if you want to save your money for other reasons. The best place to buy the ingots required is in the Ragged Flagon in Riften (provided you have earned the main game trophy titled One With The Shadows), as there are four merchants next to each other who will sell them. Thanks Bounty V for the tip.

Once a Steward is assigned to your house, they cannot be dismissed. The only way to transfer one to another house is to ask them to be your follower, and then go to another plot of land and ask them to become a Steward again. If you so wish, you can assign three different Stewards to your three different houses.

    3. Building the Main Hall:

The next step towards building your house is to construct the Main Hall. Again, go to the Drafting Table and select the layout for it then go to the Carpenter’s Workbench to begin construction. This is much larger than the Small House so naturally will require a lot more building materials. Each individual section of the Main Hall will be listed on the Workbench, with the amount of materials needed for each. If you need more materials, ask your Steward to order more and craft the iron things at the anvil.

    4. Building the three Wings:

Finally you have to craft three Wings: the North, East and West Wing. Each Wing has a choice of three different buildings:

    • East Wing - Library, Armoury or Kitchen
    • North Wing - Alchemy Laboratory, Storage Room or Trophy Room
    • West Wing - Enchanter’s Tower, Bedrooms or Greenhouse

The same process as always applies: Choose the outline of the Wing you wish to construct at the Drafting Table, accumulate the materials necessary, and then build the Wing at the Carpenter’s Workbench. If you do not care about which buildings go on your house or what it looks like, I would recommend building the Kitchen, Trophy Room and Greenhouse combination as these require the fewest materials to build.

Do this for all three Wings and you will earn the trophy for Architect. Do this for all three plots of land and you will earn Master Architect. Note that you don't have to furnish any of your rooms or build any exterior buildings for these trophies; it is solely the Small House, Main Hall and three Wings that are required.

*Important Note*: Once you have built a Wing on your house, there is no way to demolish it or swap it for another Wing. Therefore make sure you choose carefully. Again, if you want to quickly earn the trophies but want to come back later and mould the house exactly to your liking, make a save and build the three Wings mentioned above. Then reload your save and build whichever combination you desire.

    Further notes (thanks to Terminator):

You need to be at Lv20 or higher before you can get the mission to kill a Giant for the Jarl and thus are able buy land in Dawnstar.

Don't accept or complete any part of the Rare Gifts quest before entering Falkreath, this will prevent most of the issues with trying to buy land and/or becoming Thane.

With Falkreath being so buggy, it is suggested that you head straight there after getting the note at Lv9 or 10 saying the Jarl wants to see you, don't dawdle or get side tracked as this could prove costly later on.

It's possible for a Homestead to glitch and not count towards the trophy. If this happens then revisit all 3 Homesteads and check that they each have 3 wings built, if they haven't then go to the Drafting Board of the glitched Homestead(s) and choose the "Convert into Entry Way" option. Choosing this option will clear the glitch and let you finish building whatever it was that glitched and on completion of that Wing, the trophy will pop.

The Jarl of Falkreath also changes depending on what happens during the Civil War storyline.

DLC: Dragonborn

10 trophies

  • Arrive on Solstheim

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. This trophy will be the first one you unlock in the DLC, upon completion of the first quest titled “Dragonborn”.

To initiate it, first make sure that you have at least started "The Horn of Jurgen Windcaller" in the main game, and then enter any of the 7 major cities in Skyrim. You will be attacked by members of the Cult of Miraak. Kill them and loot their bodies to find a note, which will lead you to a boat in Windhelm. Talk to the captain, Gjalund Salt-Sage, and persuade him to take you to Solstheim. Once you arrive, this trophy will unlock.

  • Complete "The Temple of Miraak"

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will earn this upon completion of the quest entitled “The Temple of Miraak”.

Travel to the Temple of Miraak and talk to Frea. Follow her inside and work your way through the Temple defeating enemies until you reach the Temple Sanctum. Eventually in here you will find a Word Wall where you can learn the first Word of the “Dragon Aspect” Shout. Kill the Gatekeeper who subsequently attacks you and loot his body for the Temple Key. Work your way through the various secret passages in the next area until you eventually come to the Black Book: “Waking Dreams” on a pedestal. Read it to activate a cutscene, at the end of which you will complete the quest and earn this trophy.

  • Complete "The Path of Knowledge"

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. Complete “The Path of Knowledge” quest to unlock this trophy.

First you must head to Tel Mithryn and ask Neloth about the Black Books. He will then tell you to head to Nchardak to find another, and will accompany you. Once there, fight your way into the entrance. Inside the ruins, you will have to solve various puzzles with Dwarven cubes that you pick up along the way. Eventually you will collect enough cubes to power the four steam generators in the Great Chamber. Once this is done, head back up the elevator to the Reading Room and press the blue button. The four generators will produce a beam of light which will open the casing in which the Black Book: “Epistolary Acumen” is enclosed, allowing you to read it and complete this quest.

  • Complete "At the Summit of Apocrypha"

This trophy is story related and cannot be missed. You will earn this trophy upon completion of the main quest.

To get to Apocrypha, read the Black Book: “Waking Dreams”. Work your way through to Chapter VI by completing the puzzle with the four books and once there, use the Word Wall to learn the final Word of the “Dragon Aspect” Shout. Once you do this, Miraak’s dragon, Sahrotaar, will come and attack you. Use a fully charged “Bend Will” Shout to tame him and then approach him and mount him. Complete the small dragon-riding tutorial and eventually you will land on the summit. After a short conversation, you will have to fight Miraak. You must deplete his health bar 4 times, as the first 3 times he will kill a dragon and absorb its soul to replenish his health. Eventually he will be defeated, and after the cutscene you will be rewarded with this trophy.

*Glitch Warning*: Make sure to make a save before you use "Bend Will" on the dragon. This is because there have been a couple of issues reported with the last boss:

    1. When you deplete the boss' health bar, he will walk to the middle of the circle and be in an ethereal state. He will then kill a nearby dragon and absorb its soul to replenish his health. Sometimes, he will kill the dragon and simply not absorb the soul, leaving him standing in the middle and unable to be hit due to his ghost form. This happened to me, and I think the reason was that I looted the dragon before the boss had absorbed the soul. To avoid this, I would advise not touching any of the dragons until the boss fight is over.

    2. When the boss has around 1/10th of his fourth and final health bar left, the fight will be over and a cutscene will play. If you are too overpowered, you may kill him outright, causing the boss to be dead unable to be interacted with due to him being labelled "busy". To avoid this, raise the difficulty or simply use a less-powerful weapon that won't take off too much of his health at once. Thanks to luckyegg for confirming this glitch.

  • Learn all 3 words of Dragon Aspect

Dragon Aspect is a new Shout available in Dragonborn, giving you both an outer skin of dragon armour and a huge increase in offensive power. However, this Shout can only be used once a day (like a Power) and once used still requires the recharge time before another Shout can be used.

The first two words of the Shout are unmissable, as you get them in the main quest. The first Word Wall is located in the Temple of Miraak Sanctum in “The Temple of Miraak” and has to be obtained to advance in that quest. Similarly, the second Word Wall is located in Chapter VI of the Black Book: “Waking Dreams” section of Apocrypha during the quest "The Summit of Apocrypha". You must again activate this wall to continue.

The third word is optional, but is fairly easy to obtain. Enter Raven Rock Mine (located next to the village) and talk to Crescius Caerellius to begin “The Final Descent”. Follow the quest marker through the mine, defeating the various types of Draugr. Eventually you will reach the body of Gratian Caerellius. Take his journal from his corpse and read it, before taking the unique Bloodskal Blade lying next to him. Use this to open the door in front of you. Look at the red lines on the arch around the door, and aim a power attack with the Bloodskal Blade at and in the same direction as the lines on the arch. Do this 6 times for the different sections of the arch and once more for the main door, and go through. You will come to a room where you must defeat the Dragon Priest Zahkriisos. Do so, and approach the Word Wall behind him to learn the final word of this Shout and earn this trophy.

  • Learn the secrets of 5 Black Books

There are 7 Black Books in Solstheim, but only 5 are required for this trophy. Two of these are unmissable during the main quest and one is unmissable if you have already earned the Dragon Aspect trophy. The others are relatively easy to find, as talking to Neloth after “The Path of Knowledge” will start a quest called “Lost Knowledge”, which will reveal the location of a new Black Book every time you find one (you don’t have to find Black Books this way; simply going to the location without talking to Neloth will still reward you with a Book). The following is a list of all 7 Black Books and where you can find them:

    • Waking Dreams - Unmissable. Obtained during the main quest “The Temple of Miraak”.
    • Epistolary Acumen - Unmissable. Obtained during the main quest “The Path of Knowledge”.
    • The Winds of Change - Obtained at the end of the sidequest “The Final Descent”. After you obtain the third word of Dragon Aspect, you must read this Black Book to escape from Bloodskal Barrow.
    • The Hidden Twilight - Found in Neloth’s “house” in Tel Mithryn. After completing “The Path of Knowledge”, complete a couple of miscellaneous quests for Neloth and he will unlock the door next to the Staff Enchanter. The Black Book is behind the door.
    • Filament and Filigree - In Kolbjorn Barrow, at the end of the substantial sidequest “Unearthed”.
    • The Sallow Regent - In White Ridge Barrow. Reach the end of the dungeon and defeat Dukaan the Dragon Priest. This Book will be here along with a Word Wall for the new “Cyclone” Shout.
    • Untold Legends - In Benkongerike. At the end of the dungeon along with another Word Wall for “Cyclone”.

In addition to this, simply reading the Book and exiting back into Solstheim is not sufficient. You must complete each Book’s sidequest in Apocrypha and obtain the Hidden Knowledge at the end of each Book.

  • Craft an item out of Stalhrim

[MISSABLE] This trophy is not as simple as it appears. There are a number of steps required to earn it:

    1. Obtain the Ancient Nordic Pickaxe.

Talk to Glover Mallory, the blacksmith in Raven Rock. He will tell you to retrieve his Ancient Nordic Pickaxe, which is now in the possession of Crescius Caerellius. Find Caerellius (who will either be in the entrance to Raven Rock Mine or his house depending on whether you’ve completed “The Final Descent” or not) and convince him to return the pickaxe. Return to Mallory, who will allow you to keep the pickaxe.

    2. Complete “The Fate of the Skaal” and ensure no villagers die.

This step is the most important of them all, as getting it wrong can lead to you being locked out of this trophy. Make sure you make a hard save once you learn the first word of the “Bend Will” Shout in the main quest. Then read the Note on missable trophy paragraph in this guide’s walkthrough. I will repeat again: make sure that Fanari Strong-Voice, Deor Woodcutter and Baldor Iron-Shaper all survive the fight with the Lurker when you cleanse the Wind Stone. If not, re-load your hard save and do it again. If you have made sure all three characters have survived, continue on to the next step.

    3. “A New Source of Stalhrim”.

After Step 2, wait a couple of days and then travel to Skaal Village. Fanari Strong-Voice and Deor Woodcutter will be having an urgent conversation in the centre of the village, regarding the disappearance of Baldor Iron-Shaper. (Now you know why they had to survive - any of these characters dying beforehand would obviously not trigger this conversation). Speak to Deor to initiate the “A New Source of Stalhrim” quest.

To complete this quest, you must first follow Deor’s advice and travel to the Abandoned Lodge, north-east of Raven Rock. Kill the four Thalmor guards there and loot the Lodge Key from one of them. Go inside and downstairs, where you will find Baldor. He will tell you that you need to go to Northshore Landing to retrieve a map that was stolen from him by the Thalmor. Go to Northshore Landing and approach Ancarion, the leader of the Thalmor operation. You then have the option to persuade/intimidate him into giving you the map, killing him or pickpocketing it. Whichever you choose, head back to Skaal Village once you have the map and talk to Baldor to complete the quest.

    4. Obtain Stalhrim.

The map that you retrieved in the previous quest will show a location in the north-west of Solstheim on your map called “Stalhrim Source”. Go there and mine some Stalhrim with your Ancient Nordic Pickaxe (the only pickaxe which will allow you to mine Stalhrim, hence the need to obtain it). Once you have a few pieces of Stalhrim, move to Step 5.

    5. Craft a Stalhrim item.

Before you can make a Stalhrim item, you will need to have a smithing level of 80 and the perk which allows you to smith Ebony. If you have this, go to any forge (it doesn’t have to be Skaal Village) and craft any item of weaponry or armour in the “Stalhrim” tab, and you will finally unlock this trophy!

If you would rather use a video guide to help you with this trophy, then Guillermo has provided an excellent video which encompasses all of the above:

  • Tame and ride 5 dragons

To tame and ride a dragon, you will first need all 3 words of the “Bend Will” Shout, which is unmissable if you’ve finished the main quest of the DLC. Then, when you encounter a dragon, hold down for a few seconds to use the full power of the Shout. The dragon will land near you and bow it’s head, allowing you to climb onto its neck with . When riding the dragon, you cannot actually control its flight, but you can select targets for it to attack and press to land whenever you like.

You have to do this once at the end of “The Summit of Apocrypha” during the final quest of the main story, so once that is completed you only need to do this four times. This trophy can also be earned in Skyrim and not just Solstheim, and it is in fact easier to do so. Instead of waiting around for a random dragon attack, go to your world map in Skyrim and fast travel to any of the Dragon Lairs*. There should be a dragon here, so use “Bend Will” to tame it and ride it. Immediately land again and fast travel to another Dragon Lair (the dragon you just rode will be docile, so won’t disable fast travel) and repeat the process until this trophy is unlocked. Mounting and dismounting from the same dragon 5 times will not work, as this needs to be done to 5 unique dragons.

It seems that this trophy is a little bit troublesome with regards to how many dragons you need to ride to unlock it. I myself had to ride 6 dragons, whilst other users have reported as many as 8. The problem seems to be that when you travel to another Dragon Lair after taming a dragon, the dragon that you encounter at the next Lair will be counted by the game as the same dragon you just rode, even though the new one is hostile and even a different type of dragon. To avoid this, once you step off the dragon after riding it, kill it and then fast travel. That way, once you reach the next Lair, the dragon you find will be considered a "new" one.

*Dragon lairs are marked by this icon on your map:

  • Own a house in Raven Rock

To own a house in Raven Rock, you will need to complete three sidequests, after which you will be awarded the house for free.

The first sidequest you must complete is “The Final Descent”. See Dragon Aspect for more details on that mission.

Secondly (or before “The Final Descent” if you like, the order doesn’t matter), you must complete “March of the Dead”. To start this quest, travel to Old Attius Farm, which is just outside the south gate of Raven Rock. Once there, defend Captain Veleth by killing all the Ash Spawn attacking him. Talk to him and then search the ash piles around you until you come across a note called “Declaration of War”. Talk to Captain Veleth again, who will send you off to Fort Frostmoth (the area on the Solstheim Map with five white towers which you can see on the south coast) to kill someone. Go there and do so, and return to Captain Veleth in Raven Rock to receive your reward.

Completing these two quests will unlock the third and final quest required for this trophy, “Served Cold”. Go to Raven Rock and Captain Veleth will automatically approach you and tell you to speak to Adril Arano. Arano will in turn send you to speak to the barman Geldis Sadri at the Retching Netch in Raven Rock. Do so and he will tell you to go to the Ulen Ancestral Tomb (also in Raven Rock) and wait for someone. Enter the tomb and press and to wait for an hour. Someone will enter the tomb, and after talking to them you must return to Arano. He will then send you to Severin Manor (just north of Raven Rock, near the Earth Stone) to find evidence. Kill the people inside and loot their bodies for a safe key. Go to the master bedroom at the back and open the safe to obtain a letter entitled “The Ulen Matter”. Go back to Arano again and he will send you to Ashfallow Citadel. Work your way through and kill the guy at the end before returning one final time to Arano. He will tell you that Councillor Morvayn wishes to speak to you, so find him and talk to him to receive the key to the Severin Manor and this trophy.

  • Discover 30 locations on the island of Solstheim

The island of Solstheim has over 70 unique locations to discover, so 30 really isn’t that much. If you travel on foot instead of fast travelling and take slight detours to discover new places, you should have around 30 by the time you complete the main quest. If not, you will definitely have this by the time you’ve completed the various trophy-related sidequests.

As always, an undiscovered location will appear in black on your map, whereas a discovered one will be in white. When you discover a location, a large message will appear on your screen saying “*Name of location* discovered” and a chime will play.
