Walkthrough:

EA Sports UFC is the 4th UFC game in recent years but the first made by EA Sports, who have taken over from THQ. They have brought an EA feel to it with a lot of focus on multiplayer online play and a totally revamped online system from the previous games to match EA's online modes for FIFA and games alike with seasons and competing to be promoted to higher divisions. Much of the focus was on the visuals, which are stunning and the fighter's scans make the game seem like watching an MMA fight. Challenges have been introduced to take the player step-by-step through the game to teach them about MMA and how to win fights for beginners, while career mode has a beginner's feel to it by introducing The Ultimate Fighter in which upcoming MMA competitors face off and the winner of the tournament wins a contract with the UFC.

Step 1) Challenges. It is highly recommended that you complete all challenges first. This mode will teach you how to play the game properly and this will give you the biggest advantage for your career mode. After completion of this step, you will unlock the 'There is no "Try"' trophy.

Step 2) Career on Pro difficulty. Career lasts a total of 40 fights + the Ultimate Fighter house fights, so unless you want to play through twice start on Pro difficulty. Only the first fights are really any challenge; once you start levelling up the game becomes very easy. If you are going to lose any of the fights and don't want to, you can quit the game or simply quit the match and replay it until you win.

The Ultimate Fighter houses the lasts 4 fights and is the start to your career; if you lose any of these matches you must replay them until you win. Once you have the won the Finale, you will unlock 'UFC Contract!' and 'Begin With the End in Mind'. Once you win your first fight in the UFC after you have earned your contract you will obtain the 'First Blood' trophy. Be sure to try & win 12 fights in a row by submission during the career for 'Gracie Pride' which is easiest to earn at the start as your opponent's submission attributes are lower, though this can be done at any time throughout your career. On the way to this you will net the 'Making Your Mark' trophy for winning 5 fights in a row.

For any of your career mode fights, if you score an impressive knockout, impressive submission or have an exciting fight which gets picked for an event award, you will get the corresponding trophy: 'Knockout of The Night', 'Submission of The Night' or 'Fight of The Night'. While fighting your way towards a UFC championship fight you will fight on the main card at an event, netting the 'The Big Time' trophy, and once you gain 50,000 fans you'll earn 'Do an AMA!'.

Eventually after working your way up the rankings, you will get a #1 contender fight. Win this to get the '#1 Contender' trophy and then you should go on to win the belt in the next fight for the 'Top of The Mountain' trophy. Once you have won the UFC belt, the aim is to defend it for the rest of your career and try to win as many fights as possible before retiring. At the end of the career, if you have a win percentage of 85% or above you will get 'The Prodigy' and this should get you into the UFC Hall of Fame. If you played through on Pro difficulty then you will get the last trophy on career mode: 'Forefathers'.

Step 3) Exhibition matches to clean up any of the remaining miscellaneous trophies, all of which can be done on easy and with 2 controllers. By surviving a stunned state you will get the 'Iron Chin' trophy and if you come back and finish your opponent in the same round you will get 'Iron Heart'. By completing a fight without blocking or going to the ground next, you will obtain 'Stand and Bang'. Next up, if you win a fight in the first 60 seconds and then in the last 10 seconds of a round, the next two trophies will pop - 'You Got Somewhere to Be' + 'A False Sense of Security'. Now the two signature fights, knock out your opponent with a Showtime Kick for 'It's Showtime' and win via first round armbar for 'The Arm That Feeds'. To round up this clear up, defend 5 takedowns in a fight for 'I'll Stand, Thanks' and use a left punch, right punch, kick, elbow, knee in one round for the last trophy in this section 'The Art of Eight Limbs'. Now you will be well-equipped to combat online opponents.

Step 4) Online - Unobtainable due to server closure

Here you must win promotion from a season all by knockouts with no losses for 'Knockout Season', another all by submission with no losses for 'Submission Season', win promotion from a season on the 10th and final match for 'You Earned It', and avoid relegation from a season on the 10th and final match for the 'To The Wire' trophy. By gaining promotion for the first time, you will get the 'To the Top!' trophy and if you win promotion before the 10th match you will also get 'Ahead of the Class'. You must also complete a rivalry fight against someone on your friends list for the 'Friends or Foes' trophy and upload a highlight reel from one an online fight for the 'In the Spotlight'. After this you'll receive your well earned platinum trophy 'The Ultimate Fighter'.

  • Complete a Rivalry

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

For this trophy, you will need a boosting partner or friend to play online with. You can find one here: Trophy Boosting Thread (Read First Post!)

From the main menu, go to the online section and select "Rivalry". Now you must invite your boosting partner (or vice-versa) to your rivalry seasons match. To complete a rivalry, you must complete a season against your boosting partner, win or loss. The season is a best out of 5 fights, so the first to 3 wins (or 9 points) wins the season. You can use any weight class and fighters you wish for this trophy. The quickest way is to KO/Submit your partner or let them do the same to you, then you will need to re-invite them to another match. After someone has 3 wins, the trophy will unlock.
  • Win your first career fight

This will come naturally while playing career mode with your first win in the UFC proper after winning the Ultimate Fighter. If you are having trouble, start a career on Beginner difficulty. You can also press the (PS3) or options button (PS4) & quit a fight to restart it if you are going to lose.
  • Earn a promotion in Online Championships

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Online Championship consists of 10 matches per season where you fight against other players online & gain points by winning. The number of wins to earn promotion depends on the belt level you are in, the first level (white belt) requires you to win 5 fights to gain promotion & unlock this trophy.
  • Win The Ultimate Fighter in Career

This will come naturally when playing career; if you lose a fight you can instantly replay it. The game will not progress until you win at this stage. This is 4 fights, leading to the final where you must win to get a contract with the UFC.
  • Fight on the main card of a UFC event in Career

See 'Top of the Mountain' for more information.
  • Fight for a title in Career

See 'Top of the Mountain' for more information.
  • Survive a stun state

This will likely come naturally & will unlock if you take a heavy blow to the head & are not KO’d in the follow up. If you somehow do not unlock this naturally it can be boosted either using a 2nd controller or by finding an online boosting partner here: Trophy Boosting Thread (Read First Post!), then constantly get punched/kicked in the head until you are stunned then stop punching/kicking until you recover, the trophy should unlock straight away you don’t need to win or finish the round.
  • Earn an early promotion in Championships

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Earn promotion in the online championship mode before reaching the 10th fight to unlock this. For the white belt division you must earn 12 points for promotion which is 4 wins. By winning at least 4/9 fights in the white belt division, you will get this trophy.
  • Win 5 Career fights in a row

You will unlock this naturally when going for Top of the Mountain. Just win 5 fights in a row. If you are struggling with this, start a career on beginner difficulty. Also if you are going to lose you can press the (PS3) or options button (PS4) & quit, this will return you to the fight menu where you can start the fight again.
  • Win a UFC title in Career

When you are in the UFC, you must continuously win fights to move up the rankings to get closer to the title which is your goal. With each fight you win, you will face a tougher opponent and will move up the rankings. Once you win enough fights on the undercard you will be promoted to the main card and will earn the trophy 'The Big Time'. Once you are on the main card you will start to get fights against the real UFC roster opponents and after progressing up the rankings to a top 5 spot you could get offered a #1 Contender fight. Winning this will earn you a title shot at the champion and also the '#1 Contender' trophy. Your next fight will be against the champion, if you beat them, you will earn this trophy.
  • KO an opponent via cage kick

Easiest way to do this is using 2 controllers. Choose Anthony Pettis for the fighter for the controller getting the trophy & Ross Pearson for the other fighter. Move both fighters over next to the side of the cage and repeatedly punch Pearson in the head using & until the head in the damage indicatory in the top right corner goes red then with both fighters standing beside the cage ensure Pettis is around 4 feet away from Pearson then hold + away from the other fighter + . If he doesn't get KO'd, repeat the process until you KO the opponent with the kick.

  • Land a left and right punch, kick, knee, and elbow in the same round.

This will more than likely come naturally while playing the game if you use striking a lot rather than the ground game. If not, choose your favourite fighter & use a 2nd controller in Fight Now mode, land a left & right punch, kick, knee & elbow to unlock. The controls for the various strikes differs for each fighter so cannot be listed. You can see how to do a specific strike by pressing the options button in game and select moves.
  • Stuff five or more takedowns in a single fight

Easiest way to do this is using 2 controllers & another player. Initiate a takedown with one controller by holding & rotate a quarter circle then stuff the takedown attempt by holding & on the other controller. Repeat 5 times to unlock the trophy.
  • Gain 50,000 fans in Career

This trophy will come naturally through progression of career mode as you gain fans for every fight. Technically it is missable as you may not gain 50,000 fans but this is highly unlikely. You will get this trophy before you fight for the UFC belt so it will not take too long. You can gain fans by completing a number of actions:
    • Winning a fight
    • Winning a fight by a finish (KO/TKO/Submission)
    • Wearing sponsor logos on your shorts
    • Winning against higher ranked opponents
    • Earning a "Of the Night" bonus (KOTN/SOTN/FOTN)
  • Submit opponent in the first round via Armbar

You will most likely unlock this while doing your 12 subs in a row for the Gracie Pride trophy. If you don't, start a Fight Now match with a 2nd controller. Immediately take the 2nd player down using + + rotate a quarter circle towards the other player; this will slam them to the ground. You will land in side control. Depending on which side you land either rotate the a quarter circle from either the 3 or 9 o'clock position to the 12 o'clock position this will take you into full mount position offensive. Now hold and rotate the a quarter circle from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock. This will initiate an armbar. Finally flick the in the direction the prompts appear to finish the submission & unlock the trophy.

  • Win a Fight of the Night bonus in Career

To earn this bonus award, you don’t even need to win the fight. It must be an exciting fight though. In my opinion this is the hardest award to earn as there is not guaranteed way to get it. A few tips are to let the fight go to a decision but it must be an exciting fight with a lot of strikes landed and takedowns with submission attempts. Though this is a risky strategy, so my tip is to play out the fights normally and this should come. The best chance of getting this trophy is when you are in the main event and fighting for the UFC title. These fights are harder and if you fight normally this trophy should unlock after a close and exciting fight. I unlocked the trophy after a superfight against Jose Aldo where I won via submission in the third round. This shows that it's not only decisions that help unlock this trophy, if you have an exciting fight and it's in the main event then you should have a good chance of unlocking this.
  • Win a Performance of the Night by Submission

To earn this trophy you must win a fight by submission and it must be the best submission on the card. An early submission or an unusual submission (Gogoplata, Omoplata, Twister etc) are most likely to earn this. Improving your submission attributes (Choke Submission + Joint Submission) are a big advantage here and will help you lock in the submission easier. My advice is to use a takedown on your opponent, advance to side control or full mount (by transitioning and using the and rotate it a quarter circle) and then attempt a submission. Another way to get this trophy is to let your opponent take you down, and then transition back to the full guard before attempting a submission. This will initiate a guillotine or a heel hook which are quick submissions to use.
  • Win a Performance of the Night by Knockout

To earn this trophy you must win a fight by Knockout and it must be the best knockout on the fight card. To improve your chances of earning this you should knock out your opponent as soon as possible. If you win by TKO, you aren't likely to get this award, KOs have a much better chance of winning it. Head kicks are a good way to knock out your opponent and it will look impressive, that’s exactly what the aim is, so my advice is to use head kicks on your opponent and land counter strikes in order to knock them out.
  • Finish an opponent in the last 10 seconds of the last round

This can be somewhat luck based in career & you may unlock it naturally. If not grab a 2nd controller or find a boost partner & go into Fight Now mode again & setup a 3 round fight with fast clock. Trying to knock someone out is not guaranteed so the best method is to go for the sub at the end of the 3rd round. To get the timing right to finish within the last 10 seconds initiate a takedown with 1 minute remaining of the 3rd round & transition into full mount (see The Arm That Feeds for commands to do this). Start the submission with 40 seconds left on the clock by holding & rotating the from 6 o'clock to 9 o'clock. Move the in the prompted direction to complete the submission & unlock the trophy.

  • Finish an entire Championships Season by knocking out every opponent.

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

See 'Submission Season' for more information.
  • Finish an entire Championships Season by submitting every opponent.

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

Depending if you prefer standup or submissions, either this or Knockout Season should be the first trophy you go for online. To unlock the trophies you need to win every fight in a season by Submission for Submission Season or KO for Knockout Season. The reason to go for it first is the higher belt you are, the more wins you will need to do to unlock the trophy. White belt requires 5 wins, Blue 6 & so on. White & Blue belt level also have the most amount of inexperienced users so fights should be easier dependant on your skill level.

Tips for getting KO & submission wins courtesy of ifistbrowni:

KO - Thai clinch (+ toward opponent) then throw knees at their face (push away from opponent and hit or ).

If you're in white belt, the best way to start a match is throwing them in the Thai clinch to "test their abilities." I got my trophy closer to launch, but most people didn't even block and let you straight up knock them out within 30 seconds.

If that doesn't work, do some stand-up or some ground and pound and target your opponent's head. When their head diagram is red, throw them in the clinch and knee them. If they're gassed, they wont even be able to block and just get knocked out on the 1st or 2nd knee. Anytime your opponent is gassed or have an extremely damaged head (red) let them stand up and throw them in the Thai clinch. NEVER FINISH A FIGHT ON THE GROUND, it will usually result in a TKO, voiding your trophy.

Submissions are easy. Most people love to do some stand up in this game. People usually attack until their stamina is below half, then they back up and recover. Just try to keep your stamina maxed by blocking their attacks and not throwing any counters. When they're backing away (gassed) throw a punch or kick that "lunges" toward your opponent to close the distance and immediately go for a slam takedown ( + and roll ). When you slam them, it'll likely take away the rest of their stamina and you'll land in side control, from side control attempt the submission. Use Ronaldo Souza.
  • Complete Career with a win rate above 85%

Career mode is 40 fights long so this trophy requires you to win at least 34/40 fights in your career. The Ultimate Fighter house + finale doesn't count towards the 40 fights, so this is 40 fights in the UFC after you have earned your contract. This will be easier to achieve on the lower difficulties but you will most likely get this on your Pro run towards the Forefathers trophy as you must win the majority of your fights to be inducted into the Hall of Fame.
  • Avoid relegation on the 10th fight of a Championships season

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

In the online championships, there are 10 fights per season and you cannot get relegated from the white division, so this must be done on the blue division or above. There are points totals for each section (Relegation, Promotion, Belt) and if you match or succeed these point tallies you will complete the section.

To avoid relegation, you must at least meet the total points for the relegation threshold. After you have completed 9 fights, you must have less than the relegation points total but also must be within 3 points of meeting it (1, 2 or 3 points below the relegation threshold). Then you must win your last fight in order to avoid relegation and unlock this trophy. Avoiding relegation before the 10th fight will not unlock this trophy, it must be done in the last fight.
  • Earn promotion on the 10th fight of a Championships season

    UNOBTAINABLE DUE TO SERVER CLOSURE

In the online championships, there are 10 fights per season, this can be done in any belt division. There are points totals for each section (Relegation, Promotion, Belt) and if you match or succeed these point tallies you will complete the section.

To achieve promotion, you must at least meet the total points for the promotion threshold. After you have completed 9 fights, you must have less than the promotion points total but also must be within 3 points of meeting it (1, 2 or 3 points below the promotion threshold). Then you must win your last fight in order to achieve promotion and unlock this trophy. Achieving promotion before the 10th fight will not unlock this trophy, it must be done in the last fight.
  • Finish a fight in the first 60 seconds.

To unlock this trophy you must beat your opponent by KO, TKO or Submission within the first 60 seconds of the fight.

This trophy is easier with two controllers. Choose any fighters and start the fight. Using your player, approach the opponent (leave controller 2 idle) and attack using heavy punches ( towards opponent + ; eventually your opponent will be rocked and if you continue to attack them, they will fall to the ground. You can jump on them here and continue to attack them to finish the fight.

A second method with two controllers is to use controller 1 to take down controller 2 and then initiate a submission on them. This will be easy to complete as there will be nobody attempting to escape the submission and you will easily be able to complete it within the 60 seconds.
  • Recover from a stun state and finish your opponent in the same round.

Getting rocked/stunned is a natural part of the game, it happens when the player takes a big punch or kick then they will get stunned. This makes it harder for the player to attack and defend for a short period of time. Once this happens to you, you must come back and knock out or submit your opponent in the same round. If you are a good submission specialist, then take down your opponent as soon as you are stunned as this will also give you an opportunity to recover and then submit your opponent. The other way is to take the risk of being knocked out and try to swing and knock your opponent out. Either way, if you finish your opponent in the same round then this trophy will unlock. This is much easier to obtain with 2 controllers and any fighters of your choice. Use player 2 and repeatedly jab player 1 by using until they are rocked/stunned and is wobbled. Now switch back to controller 1 and either KO or submit your opponent. The key is though that it must be done within the same round, finishing them in another round will negate this trophy and you'll need to do it again.
  • Finish an opponent without ever going to the ground or blocking

To earn this trophy you must Knockout your opponent without ever blocking, pressing , or without taking your opponent down or them taking you down. Focus on punches and kicks and if you knock your opponent down without knocking them out and finishing the fight, don't dive in and try and TKO them. Let them recover and stand back up before attacking them again, you will knock them out and get the trophy when they are hurt enough.

This trophy is easier with two controllers, choose any fighters and start the fight. Using your player, approach the opponent (leave controller 2 idle) and attack using heavy punches ( towards opponent + ), eventually your opponent will be rocked and if you continue to attack them, they will fall to the ground. If they are only knocked down and not knocked out, allow them to get back up by clicking the and repeat the process until you get the knockout.
  • Earn 12 consecutive submission wins in Career

For this trophy you must win 12 fights in a row by submission during your career. This trophy will be much easier on the lower difficulties but isn't too hard on any difficulty if you know the ground game well. There are two tricks pre-match to unlocking this trophy:

    1. Increase the choke submission and joint submission attributes to as high as possible as this increases your chances of locking in the submission and making your opponent tap out.

    2. Purchasing as many submission moves as possible from the 'Moves' tab in the upgrades section where you upgrade your attributes.

When in the fight, it's best to try and block most of your opponent's attacks until their stamina is low and then take them down using + + half rotation on the for a power takedown. A power takedown slams your opponent to the mat and reduces their stamina a decent bit. From here transition to side control (which you should already be in if you used a power takedown) and then initiate the submission using and a half rotation of the right stick. Now win the mini-game and make your opponent tap out.

This trophy is much easier to complete at the start of your career when your opponents' submission attributes are low so try to get this as soon as you win The Ultimate Fighter and start your UFC contract. If not however, don't worry as with practice it becomes easy and the ground game becomes a huge asset. I started my run when I was 15-0 and 12 submissions in a row took me to 27-0 at which point I found submissions much easier than knocking the opponent out on hard difficulty.
  • Get inducted to the Hall of Fame in Career on the hardest difficulty setting

First of all, you must create a fighter and my recommendation is a submission specialist. It becomes much easier on the harder difficulties to submit your opponent than to knock them out or win a decision. This will include increasing your takedown attributes and your submission attributes (joint and choke) as much as you can.

Then you must start career mode on Pro difficulty and make it out of the Ultimate Fighter House by winning the competition. Also, you don't need to win every fight but I'd say an 85% win percentage is a good target to aim for to be sure, you also must win a UFC championship which will come with the 85%+ win percentage. If you find yourself losing the fight, you can quit back to the gym or quit the game completely and the re-load it to stop you from getting a loss and repeat as many times as needed. It's best to try and win all of your fights as this guarantees you being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Also, winning a lot of fight bonuses like Knockout of The Night, Fight of The Night or Submission of The Night increases your fans and popularity and in turn your sponsors which also increase your chances.

If you win all of your fights, retire undefeated and earn fight bonuses then you should have no problems obtaining this trophy. Winning the UFC belt in your weight division, defending it and winning a Superfight against another weight division's champion will also increase your chances. Following everything here will guarantee you getting a spot in the Hall of Fame and this trophy.
  • Complete all Challenges

The challenges will teach you how to play the game properly. There are a total of 90 challenges that need to be completed, luckily they do not have to be completed to Black belt level as long as it say you completed the challenge you are good to move on to the next one. Complete all 90 challenges to unlock the trophy. I have listed all of the sections for the challenges and broken down each section

    Stand Up - 50
    • Movement - 10
    • Advanced Stand Up - 10
    • Heavy Bag - 10
    • Thai Pads - 10
    • Blocking - 10
    Clinch - 20
    • Clinch Striking - 10
    • Clinch Control - 10
    Ground - 20
    • Wrestling - 10
    • Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu - 10

As long as you each a score of 200, to advance past the white belt and onto the next challenge, that is enough to count that challenge complete towards the trophy.
