Walkthrough:
EA Sports UFC is the 4th UFC game in recent years but the first made by EA Sports, who have taken over from THQ. They have brought an EA feel to it with a lot of focus on multiplayer online play and a totally revamped online system from the previous games to match EA's online modes for FIFA and games alike with seasons and competing to be promoted to higher divisions. Much of the focus was on the visuals, which are stunning and the fighter's scans make the game seem like watching an MMA fight. Challenges have been introduced to take the player step-by-step through the game to teach them about MMA and how to win fights for beginners, while career mode has a beginner's feel to it by introducing The Ultimate Fighter in which upcoming MMA competitors face off and the winner of the tournament wins a contract with the UFC.
Step 1) Challenges. It is highly recommended that you complete all challenges first. This mode will teach you how to play the game properly and this will give you the biggest advantage for your career mode. After completion of this step, you will unlock the 'There is no "Try"' trophy.
Step 2) Career on Pro difficulty. Career lasts a total of 40 fights + the Ultimate Fighter house fights, so unless you want to play through twice start on Pro difficulty. Only the first fights are really any challenge; once you start levelling up the game becomes very easy. If you are going to lose any of the fights and don't want to, you can quit the game or simply quit the match and replay it until you win.
The Ultimate Fighter houses the lasts 4 fights and is the start to your career; if you lose any of these matches you must replay them until you win. Once you have the won the Finale, you will unlock 'UFC Contract!' and 'Begin With the End in Mind'. Once you win your first fight in the UFC after you have earned your contract you will obtain the 'First Blood' trophy. Be sure to try & win 12 fights in a row by submission during the career for 'Gracie Pride' which is easiest to earn at the start as your opponent's submission attributes are lower, though this can be done at any time throughout your career. On the way to this you will net the 'Making Your Mark' trophy for winning 5 fights in a row.
For any of your career mode fights, if you score an impressive knockout, impressive submission or have an exciting fight which gets picked for an event award, you will get the corresponding trophy: 'Knockout of The Night', 'Submission of The Night' or 'Fight of The Night'. While fighting your way towards a UFC championship fight you will fight on the main card at an event, netting the 'The Big Time' trophy, and once you gain 50,000 fans you'll earn 'Do an AMA!'.
Eventually after working your way up the rankings, you will get a #1 contender fight. Win this to get the '#1 Contender' trophy and then you should go on to win the belt in the next fight for the 'Top of The Mountain' trophy. Once you have won the UFC belt, the aim is to defend it for the rest of your career and try to win as many fights as possible before retiring. At the end of the career, if you have a win percentage of 85% or above you will get 'The Prodigy' and this should get you into the UFC Hall of Fame. If you played through on Pro difficulty then you will get the last trophy on career mode: 'Forefathers'.
Step 3) Exhibition matches to clean up any of the remaining miscellaneous trophies, all of which can be done on easy and with 2 controllers. By surviving a stunned state you will get the 'Iron Chin' trophy and if you come back and finish your opponent in the same round you will get 'Iron Heart'. By completing a fight without blocking or going to the ground next, you will obtain 'Stand and Bang'. Next up, if you win a fight in the first 60 seconds and then in the last 10 seconds of a round, the next two trophies will pop - 'You Got Somewhere to Be' + 'A False Sense of Security'. Now the two signature fights, knock out your opponent with a Showtime Kick for 'It's Showtime' and win via first round armbar for 'The Arm That Feeds'. To round up this clear up, defend 5 takedowns in a fight for 'I'll Stand, Thanks' and use a left punch, right punch, kick, elbow, knee in one round for the last trophy in this section 'The Art of Eight Limbs'. Now you will be well-equipped to combat online opponents.
Step 4) Online - Unobtainable due to server closure
Here you must win promotion from a season all by knockouts with no losses for 'Knockout Season', another all by submission with no losses for 'Submission Season', win promotion from a season on the 10th and final match for 'You Earned It', and avoid relegation from a season on the 10th and final match for the 'To The Wire' trophy. By gaining promotion for the first time, you will get the 'To the Top!' trophy and if you win promotion before the 10th match you will also get 'Ahead of the Class'. You must also complete a rivalry fight against someone on your friends list for the 'Friends or Foes' trophy and upload a highlight reel from one an online fight for the 'In the Spotlight'. After this you'll receive your well earned platinum trophy 'The Ultimate Fighter'.
