Overview:

Introduction:

Dying Light 2 is the long-awaited sequel to Dying Light and is a post-apocalyptic, parkour-infused survival action RPG developped by Techland. You're looking at about 20 hours for the main story and about 50-60 hours to complete every side quests but getting the Platinum will take a bit longer than that as there are some very grindy trophies. Your main concern when playing this game should be collectibles. There are 250 of them and some of them are missable, including those in the Prologue so be very careful with that and make sure to not miss them or you might have to restart a complete playthrough. You will also need an online connection and a PS+ subscription for the Platinum as there are 2 online co-op trophies. Special mention: I want to thank Hinsusta which was a massive help with some trophies!

Regarding the missable trophies:
  • Fit as a Fiddle trophy_silver.png and Ironheart trophy_silver.png are both marked as missable . It is impossible to max out both your Health and your Stamina on the same playthrough, unless you use a back up save. Please check these trophies to know the workaround and get them both on the same playthrough. Please check these trophies to know the workaround and get them both on the same playthrough.
  • Boot Licker trophy_bronze.png is missable because you cannot reach level 7 for both factions. The maximum you can reach is level 10, which means if you're not careful, you could end up at level 5 for both factions and completely miss this trophy so be sure to assign the zones to the same factions from the start to avoid this.
  • Archivist trophy_bronze.png is highly missable because there is one missable memento in the Prologue and you cannot acces this area later in the game, nor replay the Prologue in coop. There are also some other semi-missable mementos but you can access them through co-op if you miss them, same with tapes so Audiophile trophy_bronze.png is also missable.
The Story related trophies can also glitch out and not unlock for some players in both the PS4 and PS5 versions so I recommend backing up your saves on a regular basis in case it happens to you.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play the story while getting missable collectibles and assigning the zones to the same faction but don't spend more than 38 inhibitors for Health and Stamina (level 12 each). Backup your save regularly in case of story related trophy glitches.

Be very careful and make sure to grab all the collectibles during the Prologue of the game, because they are all HIGHLY missable as you cannot access the Prologue area later in the game. There are only 3 collectibles in the Prologue but it is very important to pick them up. Then continue with the story but keep an eye out for collectibles, because some of them are semi-missable in certain side quests. Check the videos under the respective trophies, all missables will be at the start of the videos. Do as many Side Quests as you can, most of them will have collectibles and they are pretty much required to get enough Combat and Parkour points to be able to buy all skills. I also recommend making regular backup saves, because some story related trophies can glitch and not unlock.

During the story, you'll automatically assign a couple zones to a faction of your choice, it is very important to assign all zones to the same faction because there aren't enough of them to reach City Alignement 7 with both factions and you could possibly miss Boot Licker trophy_bronze.png. You also need to STOP upgrading your Stamina or your Health once you reach Level 12 for each of them, because the trophies are missable, as there are not enough inhibitors in the game to max out both Health and Stamina so upgrade your Stamina and your Health normally until you reach Level 12 then make a backup save. Now with the last inhibitors, max out your Health or Stamina, reload your back up save and max out the other one. This way you don't have to restart a playthrough. See Fit as a Fiddle trophy_silver.png and Ironheart trophy_silver.png (you can also save 81 inhibitors from the start but I don't recommend that as it makes the game pretty hard, playing without any upgrades).

During this step, you will unlock:

You Never Forget Your First... trophy_bronze.png
Into the Unknown trophy_bronze.png
First Shot trophy_bronze.png
Herzlich Wilkommen! trophy_bronze.png
Flag Burning trophy_bronze.png
Under Pressure trophy_bronze.png
On the Trail of the Enemy trophy_bronze.png
Light in the Darkness trophy_bronze.png
Get Outta My House! trophy_bronze.png

Night Hunter trophy_bronze.png (not story related but a good place to get it in the next main mission)
We Will Be Heard! trophy_bronze.png
Known Associate trophy_bronze.png
Debris and Ashes trophy_bronze.png
Brush with Death trophy_bronze.png
Going Down trophy_bronze.png
Family First trophy_bronze.png
Your World, Your Rules trophy_gold.png

...and most likely:

Oh, So This Is How It Works! trophy_bronze.png
Good Night & Good Luck trophy_bronze.png
Sancho Panza trophy_bronze.png
It Wasn't That Hard, Was It? trophy_bronze.png
Tunnel Entrance trophy_bronze.png

Step 2: Clean up and grind

After you're done with the story and all side quests, you probably won't have enough XP to max out your stats and get Parkour Master trophy_silver.png and Combat Master trophy_silver.png. The best way to get points other than main and side quests is to grind the random events. They give a lot of XP after the main campaign is done. There is also a trophy for getting 1 million Old World Money (Who Wants To Be a... trophy_bronze.png) and it is very grindy. You won't be anywhere close to that amount of money after finishing everything so you'll have to either grind the airdrops underwater but this will take a while or ask a friend to use a backup save and drop you some stuff that you can sell, then rinse and repeat. Use this step to do any misc combat trophies and finish collecting the collectibles.

During this step, you will unlock:
  • "Map cleaning":
  • Combat/misc trophies:
  • Grind:
  • Collectibles:
Archivist trophy_bronze.png
Audiophile trophy_bronze.png
Street Art Aficionado trophy_bronze.png

Step 3: Co-op

There are only 2 co-op trophies which is for joining a session and killing 100 enemies with 2 other players. You can either join randoms through the Online ingame menu or play with friends. Lastly, you'll need to travel 960km and even after doing everything else you won't be anywhere close. The best way to do that is to use a rubberband method and turn around in circles in a safe zone (a Metro works fine), while ding somehing else but unfortunately, you will have to keep an eye out on your game, because the game can randomly pause.

During this step, you will unlock:

Congratulations on surviving the night and getting the Platinum!

I will put the maps with all the important locations under this trophy so you don't have to look at every trophy and have it all in one place:

  • Reach Villedor.

Story related and cannot be missed.

After a pretty long introduction that will teach you the basics of the game as well as setting up the scene, you'll reach Villedor.
  • Use an Inhibitor for the first time.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Right after reaching Villedor for the first time and obtaining Into the Unknown trophy_bronze.png, you'll automatically get your first shot of Inhibitor. It will automatically upgrade your Health but later when finding more Inhibitors you'll be able to upgrade your stamina too.
  • Enter the Bazaar.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Your 4th quest of the game, "The Only Way Out", will task you to visit the Bazaar and the trophy will pop as soon as you enter it. Here you will find your first side quests and you will now be a bit more free around the city.
  • Activate your first Water Tower.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will activate your first Water Tower as part of the main story. You'll have to climb up to the top and activate it, then choose to assign the zone to a faction (Peacekeepers or Survivors). Both will offer different rewards so choose whichever you like the most but keep in mind that you will then need to stick to the main faction for all the other zones if you don't want to miss Boot Licker trophy_bronze.png.
  • Activate your first Electrical Substation.

Story related and cannot be missed.

When arriving in Downtown, one of your first objective will be to assign to local Electrical Station. To activate it, you'll need to connect cables inside the station and activate the power once it's done. Don't forget to assign the facility to the same faction you assigned the Water Tower previously, to not miss Boot Licker trophy_bronze.png.
  • Complete the game with any ending.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will get this trophy no matter your final choices and what ending you get. You will be able to get back to Villedor and finish anything you haven't finished earlier but some places will not be accessible anymore, including the X13 area.
  • Assign all Facilities.

There are 7 facilities that you have to take in the game and you'll be able to assign each of them to a faction (Survivors or Peacekeepers). It is important to assign every facility to the same faction to not miss out Boot Licker trophy_bronze.png. It's up to you to choose each of them, I personally opted for the Survivors as it makes it easier for Parkour.

The 2 different type of facilities are:

YBnsdRh.png The Electrical Station: You'll need to find cables and connect them to the correct location to power up the station.

CsidHg3.png The Water Tower: You'll need to climb at the very top and open up the valve.

You'll have to deal with bandits or renegades sometimes too.

See Pilgrim's Path trophy_platinum.png for some maps with their locations and all the important locations.
  • Activate your first Metro Station.

  • Activate all Metro Stations.

There are 9 Metro Stations in the game, a couple of them will automatically be activated but for the others you'll have to enter them and activate the power. Most of the time you'll have to go in a lower area inside the metro and find 4-5 switches that you'll need to reactivate.

Most of the Metro will be best to be done at Night time because there will be many zombies inside during the day but some of them will be controlled by Renegades so it doesn't matter when you do them, you'll have to deal with the renegades first though.

See Pilgrim's Path trophy_platinum.png for some maps with their locations, represented by this icon:

    Xv2HrNc.png
  • Activate your first Windmill.

Activating a windmill will create a safezone and unlock a few settlements around the area which will also unlock new side quests, if a facility is assigned to the zone. To activate a windmill you must climb to the top and interact with the power control.

You will need to activate all windmills for Don Quixote trophy_bronze.png.
  • Use a Metro Station to Fast Travel.

Fast travel will become available during the "A Place to Call Home" main quest, just before activating your first Electrical Station. To fast travel you can hover over a Metro Station on the map and hold square.png. However for this trophy you will actually need to interact with the Metro map that is available in each Metro Station near the bed, if fast travelling without using the map in the metro, the trophy will not pop.

At first only 2 metro stations will be available but you'll soon be able to activate more of them and all of them will be required for Tube Map trophy_silver.png.
  • Activate all Windmills.

There are a total of 17 Windmills to activate in the game, a few of them will have renegades around them so you'll have to kill them all first. Next you'll have to climb up to the top and turn on the switch, some of them will require a certain amount of Stamina to be able to climb them up.

See Pilgrim's Path trophy_platinum.png for some maps with their locations, represented by this icon:

     dDTknul.png
  • Collect all Inhibitors hidden in GRE Quarantines.

There are a total of 6 GRE Quarantines zones in the game, you need to access them during Night time because they will be filled with zombies during the day.

These zones will have 3 layers, with inhibitors in each of them and your goal will be to find them all (for a total of 4 inhibitors). It doesn't matter if you get detected by zombies or if you kill them or not, you only need to pick up the 4 inhibitors to complete the location.

See Pilgrim's Path trophy_platinum.png for some maps with their locations, represented by this icon:

    jDx0B1C.png
  • Open all Airdrops.

There are a total of 26 airdrops, most of them will be at the top of high buildings and will not be accessible until late in the game (some of them can only be accessed from the roof of the VNC tower) but there a lot of them that are hidden at the bottom of the map, under water. Once you find them, lockpick them and get what's inside, some of them will have great loot and even some inhibitors.

See Pilgrim's Path trophy_platinum.png for some maps with their locations, represented by this icon:

     aBU8FA1.png
  • Defeat your first GRE Anomaly.

GRE Anomalies areas will appear around the world, they are Night only activities so you can't do them during the day. In these areas you'll have to kill a GRE infected which will be a bit more powerful than other infected and can also revive the dead around the area. Once it is killed, a GRE chest will be opened and you'll receive 2 inhibitors when looting it.

You must defeat all the GRE Anomalies for Revenants trophy_silver.png.
  • Defeat all GRE Anomalies.

There are a total of 12 GRE Anomalies. They will appear around the world, they are Night only activities so you can't do them during the day. In these areas you'll have to kill a GRE infected which will be a bit more powerful than other infected and can also revive the dead around the area. Once it is killed, a GRE chest will be opened and you'll receive 2 inhibitors when looting it.

     s2usAQj.png
  • Clear your first Bandit Camp.

Story related and cannot be missed.

During the main story, you and your group will eventually need to attack and capture a Bandit Camp, this is mandatory and needed to advance the story. To clear a camp you need to kill the Gang Leader and his lieutenants as well as raising the flag. You can either play stealth or not, it doesn't matter.

You'll need to clear all Bandit Camps for Ban Hammer trophy_silver.png.
  • Clear all Bandit Camps.

There are a total of 4 Bandit Camps to clear, one of them being mandatory for the story. To clear a camp you need to kill the Gang Leader and his lieutenants as well as raising the flag. You can either play stealth or not, it doesn't matter.

     igcf2R8.png
  • Craft your first item.

Story related and cannot be missed.

During the introduction you will have a small tutorial on how to craft items, you'll automatically craft Medicine with some honey and chamomile and will receive the trophy after doing so.
  • Modify your weapon for the first time.

In order to modify a weapon, you'll need to have mod blueprints and the right components (scraps, wiring etc.) to install the mod. Access your Inventory by pressing tp.png, then press triangle.png on a weapon to see a list of mod you can install and/or the components you need. You can buy blueprints at Craftmasters or get them as rewards for completing side/main quests.

You'll need to do that 50 times for Modder trophy_bronze.png.
  • Help 50 survivors in Encounters.

While playing the game, you'll sometimes have random encounters that will appear with a Blue marker around you and you will also hear a sound to warn you for a random encounter.

Sometimes, these encounter will be bandits to kill and this won't count for this trophy. What counts is when a Survivor is about to die or trapped in a cage with renegades/zombies ready to kill them. When you see these encounters, you must deal with them and save the survivor. Do that a total of 50 times for this trophy. Encounters appear very often but make sure to go and do them every time they appear.
  • Achieve maximum Parkour Proficiency.

For this trophy you must buy all Parkour Skills that you can see in the tp.png  menu. There are a total of 24 skills to buy and you will need to earn a lot of XP to get them all. Most of the XP will be earned through completing main and side quests but it's highly unlikely you earn enough to have all skills when you're done with the game so you'll have to grind this out by doing random encounters endgame (they give a lot of XP after the game is done).

Some skills will require a certain amount of Stamina level so you'll also have to upgrade your Stamina.
  • Achieve maximum Combat Proficiency.

For this trophy you must buy all Combat Skills you can see in the tp.png menu.

Some skills will require a certain amount of Health level so you'll also have to upgrade your Health.
  • Reach City Alignment 7 for any faction.

    MISSABLE

This trophy requires you to activate the Water Tower or the Electrical Station in each of the neutral zones, then assign the zone to a faction (Peacekeepers or Survivors). See Municipal Services trophy_bronze.png.

As there are only 7 neutral zones in the game, this means you'll have to assign all 7 of them to the SAME faction, otherwise you will not get this trophy. (You can actually go up to level 10, as it levels up sometimes when taking over a Metro Station but that's still not enough to level up both factions so make sure to always assign the facilities to the same faction).
  • Collect 1,000,000 in Old World Money.

You won't be anywhere close to getting 1,000,000 Old World Money when finishing everything in the game. You will probably have around 200,000 at most so you will have to farm for money and doing it alone can take a while. The best thing to do would be to go at the bottom of the map and open all the Airdrops that are underwater, then go sell the loot, go to sleep and rinse and repeat but the best way to do this trophy is to play in co-op and have a friend that will use a backup save to drop some stuff that you can sell. One of you drop everything and the other picks it up, then the one who dropped everything, needs to back out, reload their backup save and do it again - rinse and repeat until you have the trophy.
  • Meet all your Sparker love interests.

This trophy requires you to complete the "The Matchmaker" side quest, that you can find East of the Metro: The Holy Trinity, (near the Bakery outpost). You will meet the creator of Sparker and will be tasked to collect 2 fake Sparker cards, then he will give you your real Sparker card and from then you will officially be a part of this dating program.

All you have to do is wait for 3 potential dates to come around this area, you will know when there's someone new because there will be a Quest Giver (exclamation mark) marker available when you come close, you'll then have to talk to them so be sure to check out this place from time to time and keep playing/sleeping if there's nobody available, this can take quite some time.
  • Travel at least 960km.

This trophy will be a huge grind, as most of the time you will use the Paraglider and this doesn't count for this trophy. There is also no tracker available in the game so after you're done with everything else, go in a safezone and use a rubberband to turn around in circles, then go do something else. You're looking at probably 30-40 hours of running in circle but unfortunately you'll have to keep an eye out on your game as it can randomly pause. This trophy will be a bit of a grind, as most of the time you will use the Paraglider and I'm not even sure it counts for this trophy. There is also no tracker available in the game so the best thing you can do is to keep traveling on foot until it eventually pops, once you're done with everything else of course.
  • Fall from a combined height of at least 10,994 meters.

This trophy should pop naturally but if not you can always climb up a tall building and fall off, then open your paraglider when you're close to the ground.
  • Survive your first night.

One of the main feature of the game is a day & night cycle, plus some activities/missions will only be available during day or night. For this trophy you will just need to survive one night in the game and this will only be obtainable after reaching the Bazaar for the first time. You're not actually required to go out and do stuff during the night, you can simply find a bed and rest until morning and the trophy will pop but if you do wander outside just make sure not to die until morning.
  • Kill 20 enemies in a row with melee weapons without taking damage.

Equip a melee weapon and go around fighting enemies but make sure to keep your distance so they don't harm you. Some of the best locations are inside buildings as there will be a lot of sleeping weak zombies so if you have a good weapon that can kill them in one hit they won't even have a chance to harm you.
  • Kill a Volatile.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will have to kill Volatiles during the last quest of the game so this trophy will pop naturally during the story but there are places to get this trophy earlier in the game.

Volatiles are extremely powerful and also have a lot of health so they can kill you pretty quickly. There are 2 very good places during the main quests, the first one being inside the VNC Tower, you will be ambushed by a few Volatiles and you will have to run to escape, you will eventually climb up some crates and the Volatiles won't be able to catch you. This is when you want to turn around and fight them, as they can't hit you so you're pretty safe. The other place is during the X13 mission, it works the same as at some point you will be chased by Volatiles but you will soon find UV lamps so they won't be able to catch you and again you can kill them safely.

If not, you can always find some outside at night, most likely when you are at a high Chase level but it will be much harder to kill them, unless you've unlocked some combat stuff with the Peacekeepers facilities.
  • Kill a Spitter using a ranged weapon.

Spitters are zombies that spit yellow chemicals at you, they can be found pretty much everywhere but you have higher chances to find some at night. You'll have to wait until the arcs are available through the main story, as it is the only randes weapon you can have so once you have an arc, simply kill a spitter with it and you'll get the trophy.
  • Use the UV Flashlight to kill a Viral.

You obtain the UV Flashlight during the main story so you'll have to wait until you have it to get this trophy.

This trophy is a bit misleading though, as the UV Flashlight won't kill the zombies, it will simply weaken and repel them. So to get this trophy you need to use your UV Flashlight until a zombie is down on his knees, then kill it with your weapon. This might be a bit finicky so do it on weak zombies until it eventually pop. Using square.png to jump on their face when they're on their knees doesn't unlock this trophy so don't bother with that.
  • Perform 50 headshots with a ranged weapon.

First you will need to wait until arcs are available, then once you have one, go inside a building where you can find the weak sleeping zombies and aim at their head. They are asleep and pretty weak so 2 hits should be enough to kill them, just make sure to aim at the head and do that until the trophy pops.
  • Lose the maximum level of Chase.

This is only available at night time. Outside at night, you will see Howlers, these are zombies that will scream when they see you, attracting more zombies and starting a chase. There are 4 levels of chase and more powerful zombies will chase you at higher levels. Try to stay near a UV area when attempting this so as soon as you reach level 4 you can go inside the UV zone and lose the chase.
  • Join a co-op session.

From the Pause menu, go to Online Menu and join a session with either randoms or friends.
  • Kill 100 enemies while playing with at least 2 other players.

For this you will be required to play with at least 2 other players through online co-op and kill a total of 100 enemies but it doesn't have to be on one session.
  • Perform a Perfect Block 10 times in a row without taking damage.

First you will need to buy the Perfect Parry skill. Then a Perfect block is performed by pressing l1.png at the correct moment when an enemy is attacking you. Make sure you're not doing a simple block as it will reset the counter. You need 10 Perfect Blocks in a row without failing and without taking damage. Be careful when there is a red marker around the enemy, as it means he will do a Power attack which cannot be parried so you will have to press r1.png to dodge or you'll take damage.

Try to find a group of human enemies with no zombies around, kill all of them but one so it's easier to do this trophy.
  • Modify your weapons at least 50 times.

For this you will need to have weapons that can be modified, you will also need some blueprints and the required craft parts. You can buy weapons at shops or loot them around the world. Craft parts can be found or bought at the shops and craftmasters and blueprins can be bought from craftmasters.

You can add up to 3 mods to the same weapon and it will count for 3 modifications. There are a few cheap blueprints that only require common craft parts so be sure to install these ones so you don't have to go out of your way to find craft parts.
  • Max out your Health.

    MISSABLE

This trophy and Ironheart trophy_silver.png are missable, because it is impossible to max out both your Health and your Stamina in the same playthrough, because there aren't enough inhibitors in the game. However, you can back up your save and get both trophies in one playthrough.

First you can max out your Stamina and Health up to Level 12, then you need to save any remaining inhibitors. When you are at Level 12 for both, collect all the remaining inhibitors and make a backup save. Now max out either your Health or Stamina, then reload your backup save and max out the other one. This is the only way to get both trophies in the same playthrough.

As for inhibitors, you will obtain a GRE detector during the story, that will show them on the map, after restoring the antennas. See Pilgrim's Path trophy_platinum.png for some maps with their locations, represented by this icon:
     CBzGHu8.png

There are 7 missable inhibitors in total:
    • 3 are missable if you don't assign the first Water Tower to the Survivors (they won't appear if you assign if to Peacekeepers).
    • 3 are missable if you don't side with Juan in Main Quest 14: Welcome On Board (they won't appear if you side with Jack Matt).
    • 1 is missable after the Epilogue, because it's in the North Loop Radio Tower and will be destroyed.
  • Max out your Stamina.

    MISSABLE

This trophy and Fit as a Fiddle trophy_silver.png  are missable, because it is impossible to max out both your Health and your Stamina in the same playthrough, because there aren't enough inhibitors in the game.

    CBzGHu8.png

There is one inhibitor that is missable (at the top of North Loop Radio Tower) so make sure to get it before meeting with Veronika Ryan. There is also one inhibitor that will not show up on the map even with the detector, it is located at the Dark Hollow, South of Saint Paul island. The safe code is inside too.
  • Perform 50 takedowns.

Takedowns are performed by pressing square.png when being close to an enemy if you were not detected. The easiest places to do that is inside buildings, where there are a lot of sleeping zombies. Go behind their backs and press square.png to kill them in one hit without alerting the others.
  • Perform Smash on at least 50 enemies.

First you will need to buy the Smash skill. Then when you'll be looking at enemies below you, you'll see a square.png prompt to perform a smash, that will kill them in one hit. There are countless zombies around the city so climb up to a not so high spot, like a blacony or a lamp post and you'll be able to perform Smashes.
  • Kill 50 enemies with a Spear.

Spears are a special weapon only available around the city, you cannot store it and you cannot buy them, you need to find them. An easy way to find some of them is at night, as you will see some areas with green lights around bodies, that's where you'll find spears. There are also a lot of them in combat areas, bandit camps, GRE anomalies etc. Make sure to grab them when you see them and throw them at weak zombies/enemies to kill them in one hit.
  • Complete all Nightrunner Trials.

There are 10 Nightrunner Trials in the game, these are Parkour challenges and you need to at least get a bronze medal in each of them. Some of them might not be available until late in the story and some others will requires the paraglider or grappling hook.
