Introduction:

This game is a variation of Fruit Ninja, where you slash hordes of zombie ninjas. The game is played entirely with the touch screen. You swipe your finger across the screen to slash, jump and dash, and tap or hold the screen to move/run. Overall the controls work decently, although the precision is lacking at times, and can make it more frustrating especially when you are fighting large waves.

Be warned that this is not a quick and easy 100%. While the bulk of the trophies come from the rather short and easy story mode, the challenges are quite demanding, and will take a number of attempts to master. As this game is essentially a one trick pony, it can become repetitive.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete the 7 Chapters of the Story Mode

I would suggest playing through the story from start to finish, completing the 7 chapters. This will earn you all 5 boss kill trophies, the story complete trophy, and one ending trophy. The chapters, on average, range from 15-30 minutes to complete, so you should be able to finish the story in 2 hours.

Completing story mode will also unlock the first 19 Challenges, as well as the arcade mode (after finishing chapter 4), and the Samurai character (after completing the story).

You do have one very important decision to make during this step - upgrade your health and stamina first to make your playthrough easier, or focus on upgrading your Ninjutsu skills to unlock the remaining 5 Challenges. You will not gain enough experience in one playthrough to upgrade everything. I would recommend at least partially upgrading your health and stamina, as you can grind experience fairly quickly in Step 3.

Step 2: Replay the Final Chapter to Complete Alternate Ending

Once you have defeated the final boss, you have an interactive cut scene. There is a white slash outline on the screen. If you trace it with your finger you kill the boss earning Way of the Ninja. If you do not trace it, the cut scene will end and you earn Way of the Samurai. You will gain one of these trophies in Step 1, depending upon which action you chose. Your goal here is simply to earn the other. This chapter should only take about 5-10 minutes to complete.

Step 3: Arcade Mode

Once you have completed Chapter 4 in the Story Mode, the 2 Arcade Modes will be unlocked. They are very simple - one is a defend game where you fight waves of incoming enemies for as long as you can survive, the other is an attack game where you fight wave after wave of enemy, killing as many as you can. Play one game of each and the trophy is yours.

If you do this after completing a full playthrough of the game, you can swap characters from the Ninja to the Samurai, earning No Remorse at the same time.

Important note - if you did not fully upgrade your ninjutsu during Step 1, I would suggest replaying Gatekeeper to grind out the necessary experience, and add towards your 5000 kills. You should be able to get 100-150 kills and 3-4 experience levels in about 5 minutes.

Step 4: Challenges

This will be the most time consuming step. As you play through the Story Mode, 19 challenges will be unlocked. The remaining 5 require you to fully upgrade all 5 ninjutsu skills. You do not gain any experience playing Challenges, so if you have not unlocked the ninjutsu challenges, you will need to grind experience from either Story or Arcade mode before you can complete this step.

These can be quite demanding, requiring you to get specific combo levels, kill certain numbers or types of enemies, survive for a specific amount of time etc. Many of these challenges will require multiple attempts. Unfortunately health and stamina upgrades from the story do not carry over, and for the most part you will not have access to your Ninjutsu power up attacks. There are 2 trophies to earn here, one for getting at least 1 star on all 24 challenges, and another for 3 stars on all 24. Expect to spend upwards of 5 hours on this.

If you do this after completing a full playthrough of the game, you can swap characters from the Ninja to the Samurai, earning No Remorse at the same time.

Step 5: Clean Up and 5000 Kills

After finishing Steps 1-4, you potentially have 2 trophies left. At some point you need to play either an Arcade Mode or Challenge with the alternate Samurai character obtained by completing Story Mode. You may have done this in either Step 3 or 4.

You also need to accumulate 5000 total kills. All kills in Story Mode, Arcade and Challenge count towards this. You will likely have between 1500-2000 kills after completing Story Mode. Depending upon how many replays you need for the Challenges, and how much experience farming you needed in Step 3, this may come during Step 4. If not, I would suggest playing the Gatekeeper Arcade Mode to grind kills. You can get 100-150 each game fairly easily.

13 trophies ( 8  )

  • Complete Story Mode

    Story related, cannot be missed.

This trophy will unlock after you have completed all 7 Story Chapters, on any difficulty.

  • Obtain at least one flame in all basic Challenges

This trophy is awarded when you have at least 1 star in the first 19 challenges. You do not need to unlock or complete the Ninjutsu specific Challenges.

See 36th Chamber for further details on Challenges.

  • Master all Challenges

This will be the most time consuming and difficult trophy. As you play through the Story Mode, challenges will be unlocked, and by the end of the story you should have access to 19/24 challenges. The remaining challenges are unlocked for maxing out your Ninjutsu skills, by leveling up. There are 5 skills altogether, and each has 3 levels. Levels are gained by acquiring experience from Story Chapters and Arcade Mode games. Note that you do not gain any experience from playing Challenges, so you will need to replay either Story or Arcade to max out your Ninjutsu skills.

The Challenges themselves are quite demanding, requiring you to get specific combo levels, kill certain numbers of enemies, survive for a specific amount of time etc. Many of these challenges will require multiple attempts. Unfortunately health and stamina upgrades from the story do not carry over, and you will not have access to your Ninjutsu power up attacks for most of the Challenges. There are no guaranteed strategies other than time, patience, and a good deal of luck.

You will need to replay most of the Challenges multiple times in order to master them and acquire 3 stars on all 24. Once you have, then this trophy is yours.

  • Play all Arcade Modes

After completing Chapter 4 in Story Mode, the 2 Arcade Mode games, Gatekeeper and Survival, will be unlocked. Simply complete one round in each mode and this trophy will unlock.

  • Kill 5000 Pirate Monkey Zombies™

All kills in Story Mode, Arcade and Challenge count towards this. You will likely have between 1500-2000 kills after completing Story Mode. Depending upon how many replays you need for the Challenges, you may earn this naturally while going for 36th Chamber. If not, I would suggest playing the Gatekeeper Arcade Mode to grind kills. You can get 100-150 each game fairly easily.

Secret trophies

  • Kill Stomper in Story Mode

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Stomper is the boss at the end of Chapter 1. He is fairly easy to defeat. Simply move side to side as he falls (a shadow will appear on the ground, letting you know where he will drop), and then quickly slash him while he is on the ground.

Completing Chapter 1 will also unlock the first 3 Challenges (1-3).

  • Kill Gunslinger in Story Mode

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Gunslinger is the boss at the end of Chapter 2. I actually found this to be one of the more difficult boss battles. You have to move from side to side in the arena, jumping over his cannon ball shots. While it is not difficult, the controls here are annoying, as your character frequently dashes instead of jumping, and if you try to trace too large of a jump circle, you get hit. In any case, once you overcome the controls, you can slash him once you reach the side of the screen. He will then move to the other side, and you simply rinse and repeat until his health is depleted.

Completing Chapter 2 will also unlock the next 2 Challenges (4-5).

  • Kill Octo in Story Mode

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Octo is the boss at the end of Chapter 3. His attacks involve tentacles rising up from the ground. They are charged with electricity, so touching them or attacking them will deal damage to your character. You need to avoid the tentacles by moving side to side until each attack pattern is done, after which the tentacle will momentarily go limp and you can slice it off. This will cause damage to Octo, and his next tentacle will attack, with a new pattern. Once you have sliced off all his tentacles, the battle is over.

Completing Chapter 3 will also unlock the next 3 Challenges (6-8).

  • Kill Hangman in Story Mode

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Hangman is the boss in the middle of Chapter 4. This battle is similar to the Gunslinger battle, except in this case you are jumping over stationary mines, not moving cannonballs. It is a bit easier, although the controls can still be an issue especially near the end of the fight when he starts throwing down groups of 3 mines, close together. The advantage here is the mines do not move, so you can take your time and plan your jumps. As with Gunslinger, when you reach the side you can deal one slash to Hangman.

Completing Chapter 4 will also unlock the next 3 Challenges (9-11), and will also unlock the 2 Arcade Mode games.

  • Kill Phantom in Story Mode

    Story related, cannot be missed.

Phantom is the boss at the end of Chapter 5. This is one of the easier boss battles. Phantom releases tiny monkeys which attack. They are quite easy to kill, simply slash side to side very close to the ground. He releases the monkeys in waves, and once you kill them all you can slash him once to deal damage. Each time you hit him he will release a new wave of monkeys, and as the battle progresses there will be more monkeys per wave. The technique to defeat them never changes, and you can probably clear this boss taking little to no damage.

Completing Chapter 5 will also unlock the next 3 Challenges (12-14).

  • Kill Demon Samurai in Story Mode

Demon Samurai is the boss at the end of Chapter 7, and is the last boss you face. This boss is quite unique in that you do not attack him directly. Instead, he throws up waves of ninja icons on the screen, and you have to slice them all before they go red. You deal damage to him for each icon you successfully slice, but take damage for each one that you miss. During this fight you will also periodically have to defeat waves of standard enemies. There is nothing overly difficult with these sections, and if you are efficient, you can actually regain some health during these parts. Fully upgrading your stamina bar helps during this battle as it allows you to trace longer slices over the icons.

Once the battle is done you move to an interactive cut scene. You will see a white slice mark that you can trace with your finger. Doing so will decapitate the Samurai, earning you this trophy.

Completing Chapter 7 will also unlock 1 more Challenge (19), and the Samurai alternative character.

  • Do not kill Demon Samurai in Story Mode

Demon Samurai is the boss at the end of Chapter 7, and is the last boss you face. See Way of the Ninja for tips with this battle.

Once the battle is done you move to an interactive cut scene. You will see a white slice mark that you can trace with your finger. If you do nothing, the scene will move forward with you sparing the Samurai's life, and earning you this trophy.

  • Play as Samurai

To earn this, you need to play either an Arcade Mode or Challenge with the alternate Samurai character obtained by completing Story Mode. Load up either mode, and you should see an icon in the upper left of the screen, showing the Ninja and the Samurai. Tap Samurai to change to him, play a game or challenge, and the trophy is yours.
