DiRT 4 is a rally themed game developed and published by Codemasters. It's the 12th game in the Colin McRae Rally series and the 6th game called DiRT. You'll have the opportunity to drive in Rally, Rallycross and Landrush races during both your offline and online career. You will have to complete a monthly event and a weekly event for two consecutive weeks and the trophies will only pop when the events are done, which is why the platinum can take a long time. The trophy list is not really hard and the platinum is accessible to everyone, as you can earn pretty much everything in the easiest handling style/difficulty.

Warning: RaceNet seems to have a lot of issues and can go down at any time with no clear indication on when it will be back up. You can't access multiplayer or community events when RaceNet is down.

Note: After completing the first tutorial, you can start with any game mode you want. Try to check the community events every day as two of them (Delta event and event in sunny conditions) can be pretty rare, so you don't want to miss them.

Step 1: Tutorials

First, the game will ask you to create your racer and choose your favorite handling style. You can earn every trophies with any of them so feel free to chose Gamer if you want. You'll then need to complete the welcome event, a short stage in Fitzroy, Australia. You can't skip it and this will be your first trophy. You will have the opportunity to choose a difficulty; feel free to choose Racer if you want as there is only one trophy tied to the Fearless difficulty but it's locked for now anyway.

The game will now put you in the DiRT Academy, you can leave it but you might as well earn the related trophies. Press start go to lessons and complete/watch every Advanced Driving Techniques.

During this step, you will unlock:
Thanks for Coming
...now watch this Drive

Step 2: Career

Once you leave the DiRT academy you will earn your first license and will be able to play your first Rally event. You will need to complete a certain amount of events to unlock more licenses which will unlock new events. Do that until you unlock every event in every category. You don't have to win all the stages/events to unlock the next ones, but try to win as many of them as possible to earn more credits/reputation points. Once you've unlocked everything, you will have to win the last events in each category: the Global Rally Series, the FIA World Rallycross Championship, the Landrush World Series and the Historic Legends Series. That will also unlock the Triple Crown event that you have to win as well.

During your career you will earn a lot of credits and reputation points. You can earn them in any mode, but this is where you'll earn the most of them. Use them to build your own team, hire staff, buy and upgrade facilities to get the related trophies. You will need to reach at least level 28 to unlock them.

During this step, you will unlock:
International Rally R-3
International Rally R-1
Global Superstar
National Stadium Pro-3
National Stadium Pro-1
It's all terrain, dummy
International Off-Road C-3
International Off-Road C-1
Rubbing, son, is racing
International Rally H-C
International Rally H-A

Cleaned up nicely

A Bonafide Underdog Story

Never Raced or Rallied
Make The Dream Work
New R-Evolution
Tooled Up

Step 3: Joyride

There will be 2 type of events in this mode: Smash attack, where you'll need to smash all the blocks in a set amount of time; and Time attack, where you'll need to grab green markers and set the fastest time. You will need to get a bronze medal in every challenge on the same chapter. The first chapter (Welcome to Joyride) is probably the easiest but there are some chapters with only Smash attack challenges or Time Attack challenges if you prefer one or the other. You will also need to get 10 gold medals in 10 different challenges, get a gold medal without touching a red marker on a Time Attack challenge and smash 100 blocks in less than 1 minute on a Smask Attack challenge.

During this step, you will unlock:
Chapter and Verse
Always Believe
Precisely
Kenneth? What's the frequency?

Step 4: Community events

Here you'll need to complete a monthly event, at least one weekly event during two consecutive weeks, and an event in sunny conditions. Drive carefully for these ones as you only need to complete the event, so you don't want to crash your car and get a DNF, especially during the monthly event as you'll have to wait for another month to have a chance to get the trophy. Also the trophies will always pop at the result screen when the events are done, which means you will need to wait until the month is over to get the trophy for completing a monthly event.

You'll also need to do your best to complete a Delta event in Tier 1; try using an alt account to learn the race and do it with your main account when you're ready, as you'll only get one chance. Delta events don't show up every day so you might have to wait for a few days if you missed one. Completing a Delta event will automatically gives you the trophy for finishing in the second tier or higher in a daily event, as there are only 2 tiers in these events.

During this step, you will unlock:
The Day Today
Delta Force
Flavour of the Week
DiRTy Dozen
Taps Aff

Step 5: Multiplayer

You will need to complete 25 Pro Tour events. An event is at least 2 stages, which means you have to complete at least 50 stages. Your position doesn't matter, you don't even have to finish the race and can crash your car, so long as you get to the credit screen for it to count. You will also need to get promoted to a new tier; you will earn points when finishing in the top half of players and lose points if you're in the last half. The trophy might not pop if you just earn the exact amount of points needed for the promotion; you'll have to make sure to earn at least 1 more point, please refer to the guide for more info. Finally you will need to play one event in Jam Session, which is the name of the multiplayer in this game.

During this step, you will unlock:
Up and up
Sweaty
tankflybosswalk

Step 6: Clean-up

You will probably earn the majority of the trophies mentioned here during your career, but if not you can set a quick stage in free play to get them.

During this step, you will unlock:
Be Brave
Four-titude
I am the 6.0%
Real turbulent juice
This is fine

In certain Rally events, you will be able to choose your vehicle among different classes. You will have to choose a vehicle in the lowest class available and win the race. The first opportunity to earn this trophy is after getting your National Rally A license. You will be able to choose a vehicle from R2 class or Group A class, with R2 being the lowest class. Choose either the Ford Fiesta or the Opel Adam and win a stage to get the trophy.

  • Qualify in the top spot in a Rallycross Event in Career

You can only get this trophy while playing in the FIA World Rallycross championship, so you will need to unlock it first. Please see the related trophy for more information on how to unlock it.

The reason you can't get the trophy before is that in the other events you will always start in the semi-finals, so you won't have the opportunity to set a qualifying time. Once you're in the last championship, you will have 4 qualifying races, the semi-final and the final. What you need to do is to win the first 4 races and set the best time as you can to earn enough points to be at the 1st position at the end of the qualifying races, and earn your trophy.

  • Qualify for an A-Final in a Landrush Event in Career

In every Landrush event, you will have a semi-final and a final. You will play against 7 other racers in the semi-final and only the 4th first racers to finish the race will have the opportunity to play in the A-Final. The others will play the B-final.

Simply finish the semi-final at least in the 4th position to get this trophy.

  • Finish in first place in a Career Event

Simply finish first in any Rally, Rallycross or Landrush event during your career to get the trophy. Some events will have multiple stages; you don't need to win all of them, but you do need to be first at the end of the whole event. The first opportunity is to win the DiRT Clubman Cup, which has only 1 stage.

  • Win the Global Rally Series

When leaving the DiRT academy when you start the game, you will earn your first license which will allow you to play in your first Rally event. Completing these events will unlock other longer events. Make your way to the last event, which will be the Global Rally Series. Once a new set of events is unlocked, you don't have to beat the remaining events in the previous one if you don't want to. While progressing through your career to unlock the last event, you will also earn the International Rally R-3 and R-1 licenses which will give you their respective trophies.

The Global Rally Series has 5 events and every event consists of 6 stages. You don't have to win all the stages but you do need to get the best overall time at the end of each event to earn the trophy.

  • Win the FIA World Rallycross Championship

To unlock the Rallycross events, you will first need to complete 10 different events in the other categories. Once it's done you will earn the license that will allow you to play in Rallycross. Complete the available events to unlock other events, until you're able to play the last event which will be the FIA World Rallycross Championship. Once a new set of events is unlocked, you don't have to beat the remaining events in the previous one if you don't want to. While progressing through your career to unlock the last event, you will also earn the International Off-Road C-3 and C-1 licenses which will give you their respective trophies.

The FIA World Rallycross Championship has 5 events and every event consists of 4 qualifying races, a semi-final and a final. You don't have to win all the qualifying races, but you do need to reach and win the final to get the trophy.

  • Win the Landrush World Series

To unlock the Landrush events, you will first need to complete 4 different events in the Rally category. Once it's done, you will earn the license that will allow you to play in Landrush. Complete the available events to unlock other events, until you're able to play the last event which will be the Landrush World Series. Once a new set of events is unlocked, you don't have to beat the remaining events in the previous one if you don't want to. While progressing through your career to unlock the last event, you will also earn the National Stadium Pro-3 and Pro-1 licenses which will give you their respective trophies.

The Landrush World Series has 5 events and every event consists of a semi-final and a final. You will need to finish the semi-final at least in the 4th position to get a chance to play in the A-final, then you need to win the final in every events to get the trophy.

  • Win the Historic Legends Series

To unlock the Historic Rally events, you will first need to complete 15 different events in the other categories. Once it's done you will earn the license that will allow you to play in Historic Rally. Complete the available events to unlock other events, until you're able to play the last event which will be the Historic Legends Series. Once a new set of events is unlocked you don't have to beat the remaining events in the previous one if you don't want to. While progressing through your career to unlock the last event, you will also earn the International Rally H-C and H-A licenses which will give you their respective trophies.

The Historic Legends Series has 5 events and every event consists of 6 stages. You don't have to win every stage/race but you'll need to have the best overall time, win the final or the A-final in every event to get the trophy.

  • Complete all of the Advanced Driving Techniques at the DiRT Academy

After completing the mandatory welcome event, the game will put you in the DiRT Academy which is a place where you can learn and practice your racing skills in free roam or with lessons. You can also find the DiRT Academy under Events in the main menu.

Once in the academy, press start if it's your first time and choose Lessons. Feel free to complete the Basic Driving techniques if you want but it's not needed for the trophy and you can directly play the Advanced Driving techniques.

Complete/watch every lesson/video to earn the trophy. You can skip a video after launching it, it will still count. Also you don't have to do the required actions during Lessons, simply finish a lap and quit the lesson to complete it.

  • Own a vehicle equipped with all Grade A parts

To be able to equip your car with Grade A parts, you will need to have your own team and upgrade the R&D Department facility to grade A. To do that, you will need to be at least level 28 and have 240,000 credits.

Once it's done, load any race and before starting it, go to Upgrade Vehicle and equip it with only Grade A parts.

  • Win your class in a multi-class Event in Career

In some events, you will have the opportunity to choose your vehicle among different classes. To earn this trophy, you have to finish the race at the first position in your own class, meaning you can "lose" the overall race as long as you're first in your class. Simply win the race and you will automatically be 1st in your class.

  • Buy a vehicle from the Classifieds

Classifieds is where you can buy used and older cars. This can be found in the main menu under Vehicles. Buy any car here once you get enough money and you will earn the trophy. Note that you will need to have your own team and enough space in your garage to do that; the trophy might not pop if you buy a vehicle before creating your team.

  • Hire a fourth Engineer onto your Team

To be able to hire 4 engineers, you will need to have your own team and upgrade the Accommodation facility to grade A. To do that, you will need to be at least level 21 and have 100,000 credits.

Once it's done go to My Team, Staff and hire 4 different engineers to get the trophy.

  • Complete a Stage or race with the Fearless Preset active

To unlock the Fearless difficulty, you will first need to win either the Global Rally Series, the FIA World Rallycross Championship or the Landrush World Series.

Once it's done, go to Options & Extra in the main menu, Game Preferences, Difficulty Settings and choose the Fearless preset. This difficulty will turn all the driving assists off and will make the AI difficulty brutal. Fortunately you just need to complete a stage, not win it. Go to Freeplay, set a short stage and complete it to get the trophy.

  • Earn the Fearless Bonus in a Stage or race

There is currently no detailed explanation on how to gain this, but the general idea on how to earn Fearless is by taking corners at speed i.e. pendulum turns, clean races, fast sectors. You will probably gain this trophy upon entering career mode, so don’t worry about it.

  • Win a Stage in Headcam

Headcam (or cockpit camera as it’s known) can be switched by using before the start of a stage.

Another way to get this is simply by heading into the settings from the main menu > Options & Extras > Game Preferences > Difficulty Settings > Exterior Angles to off.

  • Cleanly land a jump longer than 65m

The easiest way to do this is by heading to the Joyride arena. From the main menu, Events > Joyride > Free Roam and choose a car to your liking.

Personally, I would choose the Landrush vehicles as they have more power. In the middle of the Dirtfish arena will be a massive hill. Simply go up it, not too fast though as you’ll wipe out.

  • Complete a clean Stage or race

Self-explanatory. You don’t need to win, just complete. Take it slow and try to keep in the middle of the stage. Rally is best for this.

  • Triumph in the face of adversity

As with Dirt Rally, you need to complete a stage with one or more body parts with “major damage”. You will most likely get this without knowing, so don’t worry about it. Just keep ramming your vehicle against barriers, trees, sides etc.

  • Get a bad case of the Mondays

As the description suggests, this needs to be done on a Monday, although people have been unlocking this on other days. Same trophy as Dirt Rally, simply head to the Joyride arena and total your car.

For this trophy it has been confirmed you can manipulate the system clock on the PS4 to make it a Monday and do it offline. To do this from the XMB settings > Date and Time > Date and Time Settings > Set Manually > enter a date that lands on a Monday > disconnect your internet.

  • Set a time in every challenge in a single Joyride Chapter

Joyride is a returning mode from Dirt 3. Certain chapters will be Time Attack and Smash Attacks while other chapters will just have Time Attacks or just Smash Attacks, so you need to pick a chapter with just Time Trails.

Personally, I did the Kit Car Time Attack chapter. This may take a few attempts; however, if you don’t hit the red warning triangles (adds time on) and go at a decent speed along with hitting the green warning triangles (takes time off), you should be fine. There are six events for you to complete (as with every other chapter).

    These are as follows:

    • Kit Car Time Attack: Challenge 1 – 02:42:000
    • Kit Car Time Attack: Challenge 2 – 03:24:000
    • Kit Car Time Attack: Challenge 3 – 02:47:000
    • Kit Car Time Attack: Challenge 4 – 02:47:000
    • Kit Car Time Attack: Challenge 5 – 02:24:000
    • Kit Car Time Attack: Challenge 6 – 03:09:000
  • Achieve 10 Gold medals in Joyride

By now, you should already have six gold medals, so all you need is a further four more. Smash Attacks are probably easier than Time Attacks. There are no easy or hard challenges, so complete whichever ones you fancy.

  • Set a Gold medal time in a Time Attack challenge without hitting a penalty marker

In Time Attacks, you have two types of warning triangles on track: a green warning triangle and a red warning triangle. The green one knocks time off while the red one adds time on. Avoid the red warning triangles to unlock this trophy.

  • Destroy 100 blocks in 60 seconds in Joyride

Firstly, you will need to find a Smash Attack that has over 100 blocks or more. This will take you a couple of attempts, so keep at it. I personally did the Mini Mayhem: Challenge 2 for this trophy.

  • Finish in the Second Tier or higher in a Daily in Community Events

See Delta Force for more information.

  • Finish in the Top Tier of a Delta Daily in Community Events

Community events are given to you via a random selection from Codemasters themselves, so you will probably need to wait until one comes up. However, there is usually a Delta Event most resets.

You can find these events in the Competitive section from the Main Menu > Community Events. Delta Event will be listed on the picture; if one isn’t there, then you will have to wait until the timer resets.

Getting into the Top Tier isn’t exactly hard, just play it cool and try not to crash or wipeout. You can check out the threshold by going into the current standings (this will always be the same) meaning if you land in Tier 1 when the event resets, you will get this trophy along with The Day Today .

Once the timer resets, you will gain the trophy upon entering the community events screen.

  • Complete back to back Weekly Community Events

    (Missable)

This is listed as missable due to the fact that if you have a DNF during your current week, you'll have to wait until the time resets to have another go.

Weekly events again are its own type which will be labelled on the picture. You will generally have two shots at this if you DNF one weekly event, so take it easy.

There will be six stages for you to complete one week, then you will have to do the same the following week. Once that time resets, the trophy will pop next time you load up community events.

    Warning:

Hello, I never saw it mentioned in the guide, but patch 1.05 makes platinum unobtainable. Flavour of the week trophy is glitched now, and u need patch 1.05 to enter weekly events.

As been mentioned, you now need patch 1.05 in order to compete in weekly events.

  • Complete all 12 Stages of a Monthly Event in Community Events

    (Missable)

The same reason as Flavour of the Week . If you DNF during your run, you will have to wait a whole month before starting a new one.

There will always be a Monthly Event; this will show up on the far right in the events screen. You don’t need to win these events, just complete them. Take them steady because if you DNF one event, you will have to wait a whole new month for this to reset.

Once the timer resets, you will gain the trophy upon entering the community events screen.

  • Complete an Event in Jam Session

Jam Sessions is otherwise known as “Multiplayer.” Simply boot up Multiplayer from the main menu and join any session that you see fit. You don’t need to win it. The trophy will pop once completed.

  • Win a Stage at night

You will gain this while going through the career mode, so don’t worry about it. To find out what the weather conditions are in each event, there will be a little weather symbol next to the number i.e. 01/02/03 etc. on the stage screen.

  • Finish a Stage in sunny conditions in Community Events or Clubs

You need to have the full sun weather symbol shown when viewing the stage conditions. If it has the sun with a cloud symbol, then this won’t count as that tends to be overcast conditions.

  • Get promoted to a new Tier in Pro Tour

    (Glitched)

We (as a community) think the glitch occurs when you land on the number of points needed to rank up instead of gaining more points to rank up. I.e. if you need +2 points to rank up and you gain +2 points to rank up, this will glitch the trophy. You need +3 points to rank up if you catch my drift. Thanks to JFrench55 for initially finding this out and others confirming it.

To fix this simple glitch, either rank up again, but gain more points instead of the number of points you need to rank up or get yourself to the bottom tier and try again.

To rank up a tier, you need to be an average or decent racer as you are going up against other players on or above the same level as you in terms of skill. You gain points by winning or coming at a decent place at the end of the stage or race. Each tier has different points needing to rank up.

  • Complete 25 Events in Pro Tour

Self-Explanatory. Complete 25 Pro Tour events. These can be found in the Competitive section from the main menu. For further information, see Up and up .

You can smash your car up with terminal damage for this as well if you don't want to race. Just make sure you get to the credits screen in order for it to count.

  • Call in the Chief Engineer's recommendations during a Service Interval

While going through your career, it is highly likely that you will need to repair your vehicle at some point. While advancing through the stages at some point, you will be able to repair your vehicle in the service area (shown underneath “go to race”).

From the Repair Vehicle section, recommended repairs will be already highlighted for you press and again to match the recommendations. Scroll down to confirm repairs and press again. The trophy will pop after confirming the repair report screen.

  • Take two Joker Laps and win a Rallycross race

Every Rallycross event is equipped with two routes: the main race route and the “Joker” route. The Joker lap extends the course and in real Rallycross is used to the driver's advantage i.e. gaining clean air from other drivers.

The Joker is easily identifiable on the course through green barriers. I highly recommend that you play on arcade with the AI watered-down.

  • Repair your car on Stage and win the Stage

It is possible to do this through career, but this is best done through boosting.

Have your partner stand at the start while you purposely drive into the sides or barriers trying to gain a puncture. Once you’ve gained a puncture, you will want to stop your car on the stage and press the button on your D-Pad. Press to confirm the repairs.

Now you'll want to win the event with your partner purposely driving slowly.

  • Finish three sectors of a Stage with a flat tyre

See rAd-hoc for more information. The sector graph will be displayed on the left-hand side of your screen.

  • Upgrade three Facilities to Grade A quality

Facilities can be found in the “My Team” section from the Main Menu. The first of the facilities that you will be able to upgrade to A quality will be Accommodation, Sponsor Support, and R&D (Research and Development) as they require you to get to level 28 rank which is gained through winning events. You will also need a fair amount of cash as well.

Secret trophies

  • Win the Triple Crown

Firstly, you will have to complete either one of the following - Rally, Rallycross, Landrush to near enough 100% to get the Triple Crown Event unlocked.

Once unlocked, you will have to complete most of the races for Rally, Rallycross and Landrush. Rally which has 5 events consisting of 8 stages, Rallycross which has 5 events consisting of 6 races each, and Landrush which has 6 events consisting of 2 races each,

Tip: To save around 10-15 minutes, you can skip the last event (retire) if you come first in the previous events as the AI won't be able to catch you in the standings.
