Introduction:

Welcome to Death end re;Quest. This is another JRPG from Compile Heart, mostly known for the Neptunia series. This is a fairly easy platinum, as you can play on the easiest difficulty, and while there are a few missables, they aren’t too bad. You have New Game+ in this game, and it doesn’t take very long to go through in New Game+ assuming that you skip cutscenes in the second playthrough.

You are required to go through the game twice. If you get the True Ending on your first playthrough, it would randomly give you a character’s ending, but it will keep giving you that ending. If you get the True Ending in New Game+, you are allowed to pick any character’s ending. I recommend going for the Normal Ending in your first playthrough, and in your New Game+ playthrough, go for the True Ending and all 7 character specific endings. You also have Bad Ends, which are endings that have a bit of dialogue, but it will give you a Game Over screen where you have to reload a save. You can save in most cutscenes, and often these Bad Ends exist where you make a wrong choice when given a choice. Like with most JRPGs, I recommend having a few different saves just in case.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Get as many Bad Ends as possible and get the Normal Ending:

Since you have to go through the game twice to get all the character specific endings, I recommend just getting through the game and get the Normal Ending. I also recommend getting as many Bad Ends as possible, especially the ones where you have to lose in certain fights, as they are needed for the trophy for getting 80 episodes. As there are 100 episodes, you’ll need at least 8 of the 28 Bad Ends for that trophy. Bad Ends also give out good rewards. I made a note which Bad Ends are possible under their respective chapter’s trophies.

Don’t bother with quests. Just get the Normal Ending and save the Save Data file.

After this step, you’ll unlock the following trophies:

Anamnesis
X
IX
VIII
VII
VI
V
IV
III
II
I
Welcome to the Show
The Great Outdoors
Reality Check
The Scary Door
You're the Inspiration
Call of the Wild
Switch It Up
Gymnasium of the Mind
We Have Lift-Off!
Bada-Bing Bada-Boom
All Outta Whack
Thought You Were Finished, Huh?

Step 2: New Game+ until Chapter 7:

Play New Game+ until Chapter 7. The reason you should stop here is to challenge the Pain Area. You can challenge the Pain Area up to Chapter 10, and after that, you won’t be able to return. Complete the Pain Area and defeat the boss here for a trophy.

I also recommend grinding out the Glitch Mode trophies in the forest in Chapter 7, as it’s much easier and quicker to do it here.

After this step, you’ll unlock the following trophies:

God Save the Queen
Chaos Finale
Chaos Intro

Step 3: True Ending for all 7 characters:

Complete 20 quests and get the True Ending for all 7 characters. The quests are easy to complete as all you have to is reach a camp in Chapter 11, and buy the materials at the shop to complete the quests. While we're at the camp in Chapter 11, I also recommend buying the item "Portable Dojo" for 6,000,000 Eni if you haven't already earned the trophy Can't Stop, Won't Stop, since this will unlock all skills, and as you already have completed the Pain Area, you will have more than enough Eni. Since you’re in New Game+, once you defeat the final boss, you are given a choice on whose ending you want to view. You will have to defeat the final boss 7 times though, but you can save in the dialogue leading up to it to save some time. Don’t override this save until you’ve seen all 7 endings.

After this step, you’ll unlock the following trophies:

Deus Ex Machina
Can't Stop, Won't Stop
XI
Itsy-Bitsy Spider
Honey, Bee Careful!
I'm Your Number One Fan!
Praying for Mercy
Shoo, Fly! Don't Bother Me
Uh, Do You Work Here...?
The Observer

Step 4: Clean-up:

If you don’t have the platinum by now, now it’s time to clean up. If you still haven’t defeat 1,000 enemies, it’s best to just start New Game+ as the enemies are easier.

After this step, you’ll unlock the following trophies:

Refrain
Empire of Dust
End of the World

39 trophies ( 12  22  8  )

  • View each and every possible outcome.

    Congratulations!

  • Collect 80 of the episodes.

    Missable!

There are 100 episodes in total, and you have to collect at least 80 of them. Most of the episodes are story related, but some of these are tied to endings and bad ends. Since there are 28 bad ends, you’ll need at least 8 bad ends to earn this, but I recommend getting as many bad ends as possible as they give out good prizes, and allow you to miss some episodes. Some episodes are tied to camp events, so camp in every chapter and talk to everyone. The episodes are tied to a system data file, so it’s not necessary to earn all endings/bad endings in one playthrough.

This trophy doesn’t automatically unlock upon collecting 80 episodes. You have to view the Episode List to earn it. In a dungeon, press and then press to view the episodes.

  • Defeat the final boss.

    Missable!

The final boss is only fought in the True End route. You’ll need to complete 20 out of the 25 quests in the game to get the True Ending.

If you haven’t completed at least 20 quests before defeating Ripuka in Chapter 11, the game will end with a Normal Ending. 20 quests can easily be completed by buying items from camp in Chapter 11.

If you’re on the True Ending route, you will fight Ripuka twice. The first fight is pretty simple, while the second fight is more difficult, as she is stronger and has reinforcements. She’ll barely take any damage, but at the same time, she doesn’t have a lot of HP. Watch out for the Ripuka Code, as it does a lot of damage. After the fight, make sure to choose to "Lend a hand" (option 1).

Later, you will fight Iris, in three different battles and three different forms. The first two forms aren’t too difficult, but in the third form, you have to be careful of the Demise attack as it does a lot of damage. Once the third form of Iris is defeated, you’ll beat the game and earn this trophy.
  • Defeat a powerful enemy in the Pain Area.

    Missable!

You gain access to the Pain Area when you start Chapter 7, and lose access when you enter the final dungeon.

To access the Pain Area, press anytime in a dungeon, and head to the Pain Area. You have to complete 5 floors and fight the final boss of the dungeon. It’s possible to leave the Pain Area and return to where you’ve left off. You can press in the dungeon to return, and you’ll have to buy a key to return to where you’ve left off, allowing you to save, which I recommend doing in case of a crash or a Game Over. To return where you’ve left off, you have to reenter the Pain Area, leave, and now you can buy a key. The keys can be expensive, but with the money you’ll make in the dungeon, you’ll have way more than necessary.

The final boss in this area is gimmicky. It will likely counter everything you do, so the best method is to walk over the Field Bugs, and use Install Code when the Field Bugs are below 50%, and change the genre. I used the fighting game, and I was able to defeat it easily.

  • Transform into Glitch Mode countless times.

This unlocks upon transforming into Glitch Mode 100 times. To enter Glitch Mode, a character’s corruption level has to be over 80%, but be careful to not let this reach 100%, as reaching 100% corruption will kill her. Upon reaching over 80%, on her turn, she will enter Glitch Mode where she will be more powerful, and can use unique glitched skills as the third skill. Getting hit by attacks and walking over Field Bugs increases corruption.

Chapter 7 in the forest is an easy place to grind this out. Make sure to set the game to “Easy”. Use Lily and Al in your party. Defeat all of the enemies except for one. Have Lily and Al step over the purple Field Bugs. Lily gets 15% corruption and Al gets 10% corruption from each Field Bug they step over. When they activate Glitch Mode, just end your turn with . When you are running low on Field Bugs, use Code Jack and select “Exchange alpha. Lv. 1” to refill the stage with Field Bugs. Be careful when refilling the stage, as if Lily is at or over 85% corruption, she can start right over a newly created Field Bug, and thus putting her over 100% corruption and killing her.

  • Transform into Glitch Mode a handful of times.

    See Chaos Finale.

  • Collect half of the episodes.

    See Refrain.

  • Learn 50 skills using Flash Drive.

To earn a new skill, you have to use a certain combination of skills in battle. You’ll see a lightbulb when you have picked the right combination for a new skill, along with a percentage. If the percentage is less than 100%, it’s not guaranteed that you’ll learn the skill after, but the percentage goes up as you level. There are over 50 skills in the game, across 6 characters.

You can see the list of skills and how to unlock them here. Credit to Umbris_Letalis from GameFAQs for the list.

There is a quicker and easier way to earn this trophy though. You can buy an item called “Portable Dojo” in the final chapter of the game to unlock all skills for 6,000,000 Eni. You won't unlock the trophy immediately upon buying this item, but at the end of any battle, the trophy will unlock.

  • Defeated countless enemies.

To earn this trophy, you’ll have to defeat 1,000 enemies total. It’s possible to earn this naturally while going for platinum if you defeat everything you see, but if you’ve completed everything and still haven’t earn this trophy, it’ll be easier to star a New Game+ as the early enemies are much easier. The count carries over in New Game+.

  • XI

    Clear Chapter 11.

    Missable!

This is a story related trophy only in the True Ending. It won’t unlock with the Normal Ending. This unlocks after some cutscenes after earning the trophy Deus Ex Machina, but right before the character’s ending, or the screen where you can select a character’s ending if you’re in New Game+.

  • X

    Clear Chapter 10.

Story related and cannot be missed.

In this Chapter, you’ll fight Glitch Mode Celica, twice in a row, where you can’t use Celica (obviously) or save in between. At the end of the chapter, you will fight Heaven's Messenger solo with Shina.

    Bad Ends:

“Perfect Ending” - Lose the fight against Heaven's Messenger. Save in the event before the fight.
  • IX

    Clear Chapter 9.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You’ll have to transport to the Santheus Temple and leave from there towards the Landor Volcano Cave. Use the Strain Area to teleport there. Infernal Wyrm is your boss here. Bouncing him off the walls does a lot of damage to it. You also fight Sariga later, and it counters moon based attacks.

    Bad Ends:

“Time is of the Essence” - After the cutscenes where you placed the mushrooms, instead of heading to the next event to fight the dragon as instructed in the cutscene, head towards the save point. You could either have saved at the save point previous (you would have passed it to reach the previous event) or at the previous event.
  • VIII

    Clear Chapter 8.

Story related and cannot be missed.

There are multiple boss battles in this chapter. You’ll fight Ripuka first, and immediately you’ll fight Glitch Mode Lucil. Immediately after that, you’ll fight Glitch Mode Lucil yet again. You can’t save in between battles. Don't use moon based attacks against Glitch Mode Lucil as she will counter them. Later in this chapter, you also have another boss fight, Hiraru Sol, which is weak to moon based attacks.

    Bad Ends:

“Shall We Dance?” - Lose the boss battle against Glitch Mode Lucil. You can only save at a previous dialogue screen because you can’t save in between battles nor before the Ripuka battle, and you will have to fight Ripuka again.

“The Jar of Revelations” - When given a choice, choose "Find out the truth." (option 1) Save at decision time.
  • VII

    Clear Chapter 7.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You will fight Glitch Mode Al here. There will be two battles in a row against her without saving in between, so be prepared, and you obviously can't use Al in this fight. I find that Celica's skills to make quick work of Al.

    Bad Ends:

“Heart of Darkness” - Lost the boss battle against Glitch Mode Al.

“Hasty Decision” - When given a choice, choose "Rush Munakata." (option 2) You can't save from the previous two fights against Glitch Mode Al from this point, so you will have to fight them all over again.

  • VI

    Clear Chapter 6.

Story related and cannot be missed.

At the very beginning of this chapter, you have a decision. Selecting the second option unlocks a Bad End and ends your game (see below), meaning that you will have to fight Araful from Chapter 5 again, so unless you want this Bad End, select the first option (Leave it to Lily.) if you want to continue.

At one point in the palace, you’ll find yourself above the camp. There is a false floor here. Move very slowly over the false floor, and press to use Lucil’s action skill to see the false floor to continue in this dungeon. At the end of the chapter, you will fight Glitch Mode Lily here, and you obviously can't use Lily in this fight. Avoid using Sun based attacks, as she will counter these.

    Bad Ends:

“Chaos Unhinged” - When given a choice, choose "Attempt to comfort Lucil." (option 2) You're not able to save at all from the previous boss, Araful, so if you choose this, you will have to fight Araful from Chapter 5 all over again.

“Law and Order” - When given a choice, choose "Run through." (option 1) Save at decision time.

“Closure” - Lose the boss battle against Glitch Mode Lily.

  • V

    Clear Chapter 5.

Story related and cannot be missed.

The boss in this chapter, Araful, is weak to Moon attribute attacks, so use them.

Note: There is a decision very early in Chapter 6 that leads to a Bad End. Choosing that decision means that you’ll have to fight Araful again, as you’re not able to save from the conclusion of the boss battle and that first decision.

    Bad Ends:

“When in Doubt” - When given a choice, choose "Defeat her, and take the boat." (option 2) Save at decision time.

“Step Into My Parlor” - At the boss battle, run from the boss Araful and leave the room. Save at the camp before entering the room.

  • IV

    Clear Chapter 4.

Story related and cannot be missed.

In this chapter, you have to fight the Slaughterer. It's nearly impossible to win outright, since you do so little damage, so defend as much as you can, and stay away from the Field Bugs as they are devastating. After a few turns, the fight ends. You might want to lose to Slaughter once as there is a Bad End here for doing so. Directly after the Slaughter “fight”, you will have to fight Scorpia now, with the party in the same state as the previous fight. It will counter star based attacks (like from Lily) though, so try not to use her for this fight.

    Bad Ends:

“A Big Misunderstanding” - When given a choice, choose "Sneak a peek at the photo." (option 2) Save at decision time.

“Scapegoat” - When given a choice, choose "Beat them to the chase." (option 1) Save at decision time.

“Confessions of a Sadist” - Lose to The Slaughterer. This is very easy as you can just go over all of the Field Bugs here. You have to save in the dialogue scene before the cutscene that triggers the fight, since you can't save in the cutscene just before the fight.

“IRIS” - When given a choice, choose "Take a risk." (option 1) Save at decision time.

“The Price for Freedom” - When given a choice, choose "NO! I don't want to die." (option 3) Save at decision time.

  • III

    Clear Chapter 3.

Story related and cannot be missed.

This will unlock upon defeating the bosses Corpse and Ephemera.

    Bad Ends:

“Too Little, Too Late” - When given a choice, choose "Everyone run for it." (option 2) You can't save in this cutscene, so make sure to save in the camp a few screens away and up a hill.

“The Ultimate Price” - When given a choice, choose "Verifying Shina's connection." (option 2) Save at decision time.

“The Last Thing You See” - When given a choice, choose "Run as fast as you can." (option 1) Save at decision time.

“Fear Incarnate” - When given a choice, choose "I'm scared." (option 2) Save at decision time.

  • II

    Clear Chapter 2.

Story related and cannot be missed.

After defeating the boss, Muga, in this chapter, leave the dungeon for some cutscenes, and you have a decision. One decision gives you a Bad End and a Game Over and the other one continues the cutscene where you will unlock this trophy.

    Bad Ends:

“Curiosity Killed the Neighbor” - As part of the story, you have to head to a glitched room. After the cutscene, return to the glitched room. There is a camp nearby where you can save.

“Not the Freshest Catch” - When given a choice, choose “Try eating the fish." (option 1) Save at the decision.

"Big Bonus" - When given a choice, choose "Ignore the merchant." (option 1) Save at the decision.

  • I

    Clear Chapter 1.

Story related and cannot be missed.

This trophy unlocks after defeating Skala and some cutscenes. Skala tends to counter Lily’s attacks, so just attack with Shina.

    Bad Ends:

“Naïve” - When given a choice in a story related event, choose "Help the NPC." (option 1) Save before making this decision.

“Brute Force” - When given a choice, choose "It couldn't be paranormal." (option 1) Save before making this decision.

“A Sacred Execution” - This is easily missable. Talk with the king in the throne room, and after the cutscenes, the door opens. Instead of heading to the next cutscene that’s right in front of you through the doors, leave the room. Save in the previous cutscene.

“Centipede's Toy” - Lose the fight to Skala.

  • Clear the Prologue.

Story related and cannot be missed.

This unlocks upon completing the Prologue, which is basically a tutorial for this game. There is one Bad End here.

    Bad Ends:

“The Body Electric” - Lose the tutorial fight. You can save at the dialogue with the merchant beforehand.

  • Rest in camp for the first time.

When you see a tent in the dungeon map, approach the tent and select it to camp and unlock this trophy. In camp, you will heal all HP and SP, lose all status effects, and corruption levels will be reset to 0%.

  • Switch over into the real world.

Story related and cannot be missed.

Some point early in the story, you have to switch over to the real world in order to continue the game. In a dungeon, press and press to switch over to the real world. I recommend doing the real world scenes as soon as they are available (there will be an exclamation point if there is a new scene available), as they are important to the story. If you don’t do the real world series, your progress in the dungeons will be blocked until you do them.

  • Visit the Strain Area for the first time.

Starting from Chapter 7, up until Chapter 10, you can press the to visit the Strain Area. From here, you can visit the Pain Area, teleport to a previously activated crystal, upgrade your summons, and talk.

  • Perform a Flash Drive for the first time.

    See Can't Stop, Won't Stop.

  • Use a Summon for the first time.

When in battle, reduce the Field Bug percentage to 50% or lower, and you are able to press the . Do so, and select Summon to summon. You get more summons as you progress through the game. You have to progress through the game to Chapter 2 in order to summon.

  • Use Install Genre for the first time.

When in battle, reduce the Field Bug percentage to 50% or lower, and you are able to press the . Do so, and select Install Genre to change the genre briefly. You get more genres as you go through the game.

  • Use a Code Jack for the first time.

When in battle, reduce the Field Bug percentage to 50% or lower, and you are able to press the . Do so, and select Code Jack to do effects in battle.

  • Perform a Knockback for the first time.

A Knockback is performed when you attack an enemy three times in a row. It will knock the enemy back, and it can take additional damage if the enemy hits the edges of the area or another enemy.

  • Connect a Knockback combo with a party member for the first time.

A Knockback combo is when you perform a Knockback, and the enemy is knocked into another party member. The other party member will attack the enemy to increase the combo.

  • Enter Glitch Mode for the first time.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You’ll enter Glitch Mode for the first time as part of the story. You will need to enter Glitch Mode 100 times for the platinum. See Chaos Finale for more information.

Secret trophies

  • View Shina's ending.

    Missable!

I recommend getting all of the character related endings in New Game+, as you can select which character’s ending you want. You will have to defeat the final boss 7 times in total, one for each character. This only unlocks during the True Ending, as you won’t be able to earn this in the Normal Ending, so you’ll need to complete 20 quests before the end of the game. Do not overwrite the save near the end of the game before seeing all seven endings!

  • View Lily's ending.

There are two ways to see this ending. The normal way is to finish the game without completing at least 20 quests. If you have completed 20 quests or more, after defeating Ripuka in Chapter 11, choose “Don’t lend a hand” (second option) when given a choice, and you’ll earn the normal ending.
