Welcome to despair filled world of Danganronpa: Trigger Happy Havoc, the first English installment in the Danganronpa Series. It is a both murder mystery visual novel and a anime circled around the "Ultimate" students in Hope's Peak Academy trying to uncover the truth. Will Monokuma get the best of you and make you fall to despair or will you be the beacon of hope? That is the question.

If you're familiar with Zero Escape: Virtue's Last Reward for the Vita then you will notice that this game shares a very similar play style, just based more on searching for clues to who did it and Trials that get harder. The game will try to keep you on your toes by introducing you to many new things as you complete the trials, always raising the difficulty the more you advance. Patience and paying attention will be your allies in your adventure since the smallest details will aide you into figuring out who is the culprit. Try not to Despair too much! Here is a step by step guide on the best way to get yourself that Platinum.

Step 1: Clear the Main Story

First off, you need to start the game on Kind or Mean difficulty for The Color of Television and Tuned to a Dead Channel trophies. since Easy will not give you the white noise lines in the Trials. I suggest picking Mean difficultly because you'll get more white noise lines. Now just playthrough the game however you want to and enjoy the story. Build bonds with whoever you want since you won't be able to get everyone's Report Card due to the lack of time, presents and Monocoins at your disposal but getting some skills and SP will make Trials easier for you. Try saving your Monocoins and not spend too many of them since you'll need to have 999 Monocoins on you for the Nine Coins, Nine Purses, Nine Bears trophy, searching places will also sometimes net you a coin. If you're really struggling in the trials, I put the answers under the corresponding chapter to help.

There are 3 trophies you should look out for and get out of the way in the first chapter and they are:

What's a Mistrial?
Not From Concentrate
You Must Acquit

You will unlock the following trophies from Clearing the Main Story:

From Zero to Hero
One Is the Loneliest Number
Two of a Kind
Three's a Crowd
Four by Gore
Five Alive
All's Well That Ends...Umm...
Color of Television

Misc Trophies you might unlock:

The Devil Wears a High School Uniform
The Game Hungers
Rebel Without a High School Degree
Almost Almost Famous
Lost in Scanslation
The Sixth Nonsense
Psychic
Hope's Peak Confidential
Mystic Donut
Strangers in a Brain
Lovesport
The French Disconnection
Memoirs of a Fashionista
GoodFellows
Ooh, For Me?
Skilling 'Em Softly
Skill or Be Skilled
Hey, Big Spender
Tuned to a Dead Channel

After finishing the Main Story you will unlock School Mode.

Step 2: Play School Mode and Finish Report Cards

You'll need to play School Mode a total of 4 times. In your first playthrough though, your aim along with finishing up the projects will be getting all the Report Cards of the people you don't have by giving them presents which can now be bought in the main menu screen, be sure to save before trying to go back to the Main Menu or you will lose your progress. In case you're wondering what presents to give a character, they are listed under their respective Report Card trophy and also take note of what they talk about for the next step. Whatever pages you filled in the Main Story will carry over to Story Mode.

School mode is essentially Monokuma asking you to make him new bodies by using your classmates to gather materials but also at the same time keeping the place clean as you use the energy for one or the other, and in return he will give you Trip Tickets for every complete body. Make all of the Tools ASAP and food whenever you need it/have extra materials since they will make things easier for you as well, you will also get random things from Monokuma so your free to use them as well and also making/using power ups will make things easier for you in the long run. After you finish ALL the projects you will be rewarded with 200 Monocoins on the 50th day. Don't worry about the trip tickets for now. Note: If you at any time want to go back and get some trophies or coins via chapter select then don't be afraid to do so, it's also worth mentioning that if you save over your School Mode, then you will not lose your progress in it.

The following you'll unlock on the 1st School Mode Playthrough:

The Devil Wears a High School Uniform
The Game Hungers
Rebel Without a High School Degree
Almost Almost Famous
Lost in Scanslation
The Sixth Nonsense
Psychic
Hope's Peak Confidential
Mystic Donut
Strangers in a Brain
Lovesport
The French Disconnection
Memoirs of a Fashionista
GoodFellows
Mr. Know-It-All
School's Out For Summer
Skilling 'Em Softly
Skill or Be Skilled
Ghostface Skillah

Misc Trophies you might unlock:

Ooh, For Me?
Hey, Big Spender

Step 3: School Mode Ending Playthroughs

Just a quick note, the only things that carry over are your characters stats of gathering/cleaning, as all other things will be reset. Since we now have every Report Card done, we are now able to obtain the endings, so the remaining playthroughs will be focused towards getting School's Out Forever and also to obtain 999 Monocoins. Just like before, finish ALL the projects and remember those tickets? Well we will be using them this time.

Simply after every gathering/cleaning session you will be prompted to hang out with someone or by yourself, you'll want to hang out with someone. When you hang out with someone, you'll be using the Trip tickets to go to different areas and it will prompt you with 3 random options each time and you'll want to choose the best option based on your character and you'll know you get it when it says "It looks to me like he/she had a really good time". As long as you paid attention to what they said, this should be no problem to answer. In case you are worried, just save before you leave on your trip and then keep checking with Monokuma to make sure you gained 1 heart each time since you'll need a total of 10 hearts to get that character ending since he keeps track of both the hearts and whoever's ending you have obtained. For more information about the best places and answers please check School's Out Forever. The max number of endings you can get is 5 and they will happen on the 51st day after a event with Monokuma and you will know when you get the ending when you get a "special present" after talking. Just repeat this step 2 more times afterwards.

You will unlock the following trophies in this step:

School's Out Forever
Nine Coins, Nine Purses, Nine Bears

Step 4: Clean Up

You'll be aiming to get the remaining trophies in this step. Since you'll likely have 999 Monocoins now it would be a good time to get the remaining presents and buy all the Gallery items. For the Gallery and Presents trophies you can just buy all of one or the other and reload your save after to save your Monocoins since you're going to need more then 1000 Monocoins for both depending on how many presents you have need. Depending what difficulty you chose, you may need to replay a trial for more white noise lines for Tuned to a Dead Channel. Please refer to the trophies you need for more information.

You will unlock the following trophies in this step:

Hey, Big Spender
Seriously, You Shouldn't Have
Tuned to a Dead Channel
Rogue's Gallery
Despair's Last Reward

  • Filled in every page of every character's Report Card

Simply obtain all the Pages of everyone's Report Card except for Makoto. To max out report cards, you need to simply give each character presents which varies based on that character. For more information on what presents to give check under that specific character report card trophy. You'll get this as you play School Mode while you go for both Nine Coins, Nine Purses, Nine Bears and School's Out Forever since you will need to have all character Report Cards done as one of the two requirements to see their ending. Note: Going on trips in School mode will not fill pages of report cards, only giving presents that character likes will.

  • Collected 999 Monocoins

For this trophy you'll need to have 999 Monocoins on you at one time. You should have 500+ Monocoins by the end of your Main Story if you don't spend any. The best place to get them would be in School Mode as you get 200 coins every time you complete all the assignments and it will also go hand in hand with School's Out Forever as you work for the endings. Note: Celeste has a skill called Raise that gives you 3 coins instead of 1 when you find them searching the school grounds in the Main Story.

  • Collected 50 unique presents

Please Refer to Seriously, You Shouldn't Have.

  • Collected every possible present

You pretty much have to obtain every present in the game from the MonoMono machine and including the ones you obtain in Story Mode. Since you'll likely get numerous presents while going for Mr. Know-It-All in School Mode, you should hold off on buying anymore till after you get Nine Coins, Nine Purses, Nine Bears since then you can use the save trick. Simply, once you have all the Story Mode presents, just use numerous coins to keep getting new presents and once you have 100% from the machine your trophy should pop, then you can save it in another slot or reload your save to buy the Gallery items since you will need over 1000 Monocoins for everything. Also, any presents you had before and used up by chance will count as a "new" present. Important: It is impossible to get all the presents in the MonoMono Machine without beating the Main Story first.

  • Cleared the 10 SP threshold

    Please Refer to Ghostface Skillah.

  • Cleared the 20 SP threshold

    Please Refer to Ghostface Skillah.

  • Cleared the 30 SP threshold

You'll get Skilling 'Em Softly and most likely Skill or Be Skilled as you play through the Main Story and depending on who/if you choose to give presents to. In School Mode you'll get the remaining SP and Skill or Be Skilled trophy if you didn't get it in the Main Story since you will go for everyone's Report card for Mr. Know-It-All on your first School Mode playthrough since you need them all finished for your future School Mode playthroughs for School's Out Forever.

  • Enjoyed the exciting excitement of the MonoMono Machine 100 times

Simply play the MonoMono Machine 100 times, you'll get his naturally as you go for Seriously, You Shouldn't Have.

  • Unlocked all gallery items

You need to simply buy all the items in the following:

    Event Gallery: 375 Monocoins
    Movie Gallery: 136 Monocoins
    Artwork Galley: 255 Monocoins
    Sound Galley: 175 Monocoins

    Total Monocoins Needed: 941

You will unlock most gallery items just by simply playing through the game as they unlock by finishing chapters and seeing the events, after that you just need to buy them all. You can use the save trick to save Monocoins if you still need to get Seriously, You Shouldn't Have, simply buy all the Events/Movies/Artworks/Sounds and wait for the trophy to pop then save in another slot or just reload you save and get the Presents afterwards since you will need over 1000 Monocoins for everything.

There are two special movies and one special event that only unlock upon meeting certain conditions.

    Movies/Events with Special Conditions:

The first is a event that can only be unlocked after obtaining present #91 - A Man's Fantasy and be in chapter 3. Just play until the bathing scene which if you have present #91 you will trigger the bath event rather then you going back to the Dining Hall.

The second one is a missable movie since its a choice you need to make in Chapter 5 Trial at the end with Kyoko. If you select “Pursue the Lie” you will unlock the movie with Kyoko in the movie gallery since the other option will give you ONLY Makoto's Movie.

The third is another movie you get from obtaining present #92 - Escape Button which is only available to you upon clearing the game which then gives you the last Movie with everyone in the Epilogue.[/spoiler]

  • Cleared every class trial without taking any damage

A misleading description, you don't need to clear every class trial without taking damage, just one is enough. You should try to get this on Chapter 1 trial since it's the easiest and you can just save after every phase/game in case you do take damage, since you can just reload before that part. If you're struggling you can find the answers under One Is the Loneliest Number.

  • Cleared every class trial without having to retry a single time

Another wrong description since you just need to do it in one trial and not in all of them. Simply you just need to finish a whole trial without losing all of your hearts, since it will cause you to die and prompt the retry option and in case you're really worried, just save after every phase/game so that you can just continue from there. Also, you do gain back some life for every correct answer you give. You should have no trouble with this if you do it on Chapter 1 since its the easiest trial and if you're struggling you can find the answers under One Is the Loneliest Number.

  • Destroyed 100 white noise lines across all class trials

Refer to Tuned to a Dead Channel.

  • Destroyed 500 white noise lines across all class trials

White noise lines are the purple words that come across trials starting in Chapter 2. Simply you need to just shoot it or tap them with the rear touch pad, they also give you more time in that trial section. Playing on Mean Difficultly will give you a bit more White Noise lines then Kind will. In case you still don't have it by the end then replaying Chapter 5 would be best place to grind them out since its the shortest and usually 2-4 white noises appear at the same time on the screen. All you need to do is just destroy them over and over without advancing the trial until you really have to because of lack of time, then just simply repeat the process again where there are white noises.

  • Cleared every class trial without using your Concentration skill a single time

Another wrong description since you just need to do it in one trial and not all. Simply don't use your in a trial from start to end and save after each phase/game if you're really worried since you can just reload and continue from there. Again, the best place is chapter 1 since its the easiest trial and if you're struggling, you can find the answers under One Is the Loneliest Number.

  • Cleared School Mode once

All you have to do is just finish School Mode once regardless of if you finish all the assignments or not. You should get this as you go for everyone report card for Mr. Know-It-All.

  • Saw every possible School Mode ending

For this Trophy you'll need to play School Mode a minimum of 3 times and have already obtained the Full Report cards for each character, then just obtain 10 hearts for every character in School Mode and talk to them on the 51st day and answer a question for their ending. In order to obtain hearts, you will need to go on trips using the Trip Tickets to random places you have visited in the Main Story and you can only obtain Trip Tickets by finishing Monokuma assignments. When you go on a trip you will be given 3 random options to choose from to earn a 1/2 heart to a full heart and you should always aim to get a answer that fits your character for a full heart. You'll know you got a full heart when the character says "It looks to me like he/she had a really good time". Picking a bad option will never decrease your hearts, it just will make you waste a Trip Ticket. In case you're worried, always save before you go on a trip and it should only take 10 Trip Tickets. Also you can check your progress with Monokuma as he keeps track of both the hearts and who you achieved a ending with. You'll know you're on the right path when you reach the 51st day and two things happen:

    • You'll get a Monokuma "event" with the Final Monokuma
    • Then prompt to talk to your characters and just correctly answer that character question on the 51st day and get their "ending" along with a "special present"

Below are a list of the best places with the best answer for each character.

If your struggling to finish the assignments as you're going for the endings then you should make all the tools ASAP since they will give you more materials and whenever you have the extra materials you should make the food and stat raising items. Since there are a even number of characters you will be doing one playthrough with 4 characters so in case you happen to miss someone or somehow happen to run out of tickets you can do it on your 4 person playthrough since the max is 5 ending you can earn per playthrough.
