INTRODUCTION:
Crysis 2 is a modern marvel of graphical display and sophisticated gameplay. Welcome to the Nanosuit, welcome to New York in 2023; a city ravaged by an alien infestation known as the Ceph. Crysis 2 will take you through a long and satisfying campaign lasting 10+ hours with replay value for NG+. The gameplay is extremely dynamic and immersive thanks to the capabilities of the Nanosuit which gives you abilities of armor and invisibility. The game's core focus is an FPS but it also introduces forms of stealth and platforming gameplay. The multiplayer is a hybrid of Halo 3 and Call of Duty Modern Warfare. Utilizing the same beautiful engine used in the single player, multiplayer will immerse you in a beautiful war where everything from the physics to character models to map, gun and perk balance just feels right. With 6 diverse game modes, the nanosuit and killstreaks, Crysis 2 delivers the next generation of multiplayer.
Walkthrough:
STEP 0: THINGS TO BE AWARE OF BEFORE STARTING THE GAME
There is nothing overly complicated about this trophy list, all trophies are relatively simple to complete but the reason for the high difficulty rating is because of certain multiplayer (MP) trophies that cannot be boosted anymore due to a patch a few months after the game's release. Now the game requires a lot of time, medium amount of skill and dedication to achieve the online trophies. The MP's learning curve is much like Call of Duty but a little steeper and you must learn to use the stealth and armor abilities in order to level them up for the "Dressed to Kill" trophy, win every game mode (including free for all), reach the maximum rank and etc. To many, this will be a daunting task so prepare to invest some time if you want this platinum trophy.
STEP 1: COMPLETE THE CAMPAIGN & GET ALL NEW YORK SOUVENIRS + COMBAT TROPHIES
If you only want to do one playthrough start the game on SUPERSOLDIER difficulty however I highly recommended starting the game on easy and do a second playthrough on Supersoldier. Reasoning for this is because it's good to familiarize yourself with Crysis 2's gameplay, the nanosuit's abilities, weapons and the levels as well as to enjoy the game and not get frustrated. In addition, all upgrades will carry over to a New Game + making an additional playthrough on Supersoldier incredibly easier. Starting on easy will also make getting the collectible, combat and chapter specific trophies easier. Replay any chapters on easy to clean up trophies before playing the campaign on Supersoldier.
Note that there are multiple collectibles in the game such as Dog Tags, Emails, Car keys and Statues but the only one you need to care about for the trophy requirement is the statues (New York Souvenirs). Each chapter (excluding prologue) has a New York Souvenir that needs to be collected for a total of 18.
There are only 5 chapter specific "missable" trophies (as in you will have to replay the chapter to do a certain objective to get the trophy) and I will put these in order of the chapters they appear in on the trophy guide with a blue text to indicate that they are chapter specific. You will want to use your first playthrough to attain all combat specific trophies, there aren't that many and they aren't hard or a big grind, most will come naturally but some you may have to try for. The trophy guide will explain them more in depth. The campaign should take you 10-12 hours to complete, upwards of 14 if your first playthrough is on Supersoldier.
STEP 2: COMPLETE THE CAMPAIGN ON SUPERSOLDIER (Hardest Difficulty)
If your first playthrough was already on Supersoldier then skip this step but if you played the game on easy first this playthrough is required. Enemies do more damage and have more health. Survival should be the only objective. Playing though on Supersoldier will also net you the veteran trophies for a total of all 6 difficulty trophies (1 gold and 5 silver trophies because the difficulty trophies stack). You can and it is recommended that you play through this mode with chapter select. Luckily you can stealth your way through every level except the ones with the mandatory fights. This playthrough should only take 6-7 hours if you stealth the levels. See Supersoldier Trophy for my tips and tricks.
STEP 3: ONLINE MULTIPLAYER - Unobtainable due to server closure
This will be seen by many trophy hunters as a grind and will require approx 55-65 hours (depending on FPS skill) to get all multiplayer related trophies except for the "Dedication" trophy. The biggest grind is the gold multiplayer trophy "Crysis, What Crysis?" which requires you to reach level 50; however, in the process of doing this all the other multiplayer trophies will almost come naturally except "The Cleaner" which is recommended to be boosted (see the trophy description) for the harder/luck based skill kills. Tooled up is a common glitch, read the trophy description to advert potentially having to re-level to 50 if it did not unlock for you.
Boosting with the Capture the Relay method no longer works as the developers have patched the exploit, therefore at this time you must manually grind out the Multiplayer Ranked Level 50 trophy.
STEP 4: DEALING WITH DEDICATION TROPHY 6 MONTHS LATER - Unobtainable due to server closure
The "Dedication" trophy requires you to log in and finish (doesn't have to be from the beginning) a ranked online match 6 months after you played online the first time (i.e. if you played online any time in March, you will have to play online again in September to get that trophy). The game cycles time in months passed, not days passed. Therefore going from March (month 3) to September (month 9) = 6 months, you do not need to play 180 days after your first session. Changing the PSN clock will not give you the "Dedication" trophy. This trophy is horribly glitched and doesn't pop for 99% of players when it's supposed to but playing on New Year's Eve and again New Year's Day, has a very high chance of forcing it to appear.
The game has been patched and there are no connection issues with the Multiplayer if you have a Nat Type 3 (Strict) connection. As of Patch 1.04 the "Tooled Up" trophy will no longer glitch.
