Introduction:

Welcome to my Trophy Guide for Code Vein, the latest RPG from Bandai Namco Games. This game will have you take control of a silent protagonist on their search for blood beads to quench their eternal bloodthirst. Chances are you have read reviews comparing Code Vein to the "Soulsborne" series or have heard people calling it "Anime Souls." While they are mostly correct, Code Vein has its own unique spin on the genre, with an advanced character creator and blood codes to make gameplay interesting. This game also has an emotional story and is much easier difficulty-wise than any given game in the Dark Souls subgenre. If you enjoy those games or are a big anime fan, I personally think you will love Code Vein.

While Code Vein has four endings required for the platinum, you can get all four in just three full playthroughs. You cannot use the PSN cloud saving feature to your advantage this time, however most cutscenes can be skipped, leading to a 4-5 hour playthrough time if you know what you are doing. Nearly all trophies can be earned on a single playthrough. Technically the five trophies for all endings and all blood codes are missable on any given playthrough but you can cleanup trophies before choosing to go to NG+ after the game has been beaten. There is also a very grindy trophy that requires 400 Mark of Honor medals. One medal is obtained per boss defeated in co-op and two are available as world drops per playthrough. These can also drop, albeit very rare, from a few enemies outlined in the guide. However thanks to update 1.20, you can now farm these much easier by accessing the Tower of Trials provided for free with this update.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Obtain both variants of the Dweller in the Dark ending

There are a lot of miscellaneous trophies you can tackle at any time so feel free to do them on this playthrough. As mentioned above, you can save yourself a playthrough by earning both variants of the Dweller in the Dark ending on the same playthrough. What you will need to do is collect all successor Vestiges in four areas: Cathedral of the Sacred Blood, Ridge of Frozen Souls, City of Fallen Flame and Crown of Sand. You will find an Attendant of the Relics outside of each boss arena and will need to restore the specific area's Vestiges before defeating the boss. This will allow you to restore the successor’s memories after defeating the boss. While you do this, make sure not to restore all of Io's memories (called Eos Vestiges). This will allow you to get the good version of this ending first, after defeating the final boss. If done correctly, you will be back in Home Base with everyone you saved. Now you can leave through the back door and trigger the final cutscene. Once the credits have rolled once, you can continue your game and you will be back at the last Mistle before the final boss.

Now travel back to Home Base and restore Io's memories. Once you have done so, simply defeat the final boss once more and repeat the above steps to leave Home Base. This will give you the true version of this ending, which is very similar to the good ending. This may sound a bit confusing so please see the trophy guide for more information. You can use this playthrough to obtain as many blood codes as possible. None of them not tied to successors are missable and only four are tied to a different ending.

In this step, you will earn:

Gift Gatherer
Mender of Minds
Deep Trailblazer
Miasma Manager
Together Until Oblivion
Proven Devotion
Burning Spirit
A Weapon for Every Season
Revenant Requisites
Gifted
Ultimate Armament
Unbreakable Veil
Building Trust
Drink Deep
Resonant Power
Io's Memories
Queen’s Knight
Queen’s Knight Reborn
Oliver Collins
Insatiable Despot
Butterfly of Delirium
Invading Executioner
Successor of the Ribcage
Successor of the Breath
Gilded Hunter
Successor of the Claw
Successor of the Throat
Blade Bearer and Cannoneer
Juzo Mido
Skull King
Louis's Memories
Yakumo's Memories
Murasame's Memories
Coco's Memories
Davis's Memories
Mia's Memories
Dweller in the Dark

Step 2: Obtain the Heirs ending

To obtain the Heirs ending, you will need to avoid restoring the memory of each of the four successors. You can leave their Vestiges on the ground and choose to walk past the successor instead of helping them in their respective memory. You will receive a unique blood code for each of these successors, as well as the bad ending and another trophy. Feel free to use this playthrough to mop up anything you missed in Step 1.

In this step, you will earn:

Weaver of Wills
Heirs

Step 3: Obtain the To Eternity ending

To Eternity, considered the neutral ending of the game, requires you to restore one or more but not all of the successor’s memories. I suggest doing so in the Ridge of Frozen Souls, as this place has the easiest Vestiges to locate. You will need to locate all of them in a single area and restore the memories of that successor just like in the true ending. Make sure to walk out on the other successors after you have restored one.

In this step, you will earn:

To Eternity
Determiner of Fate

Step 4: 400 Mark of Honor medals

The only thing that is left is to obtain 400 Mark of Honor medals. Only two can be found in the game world per playthrough and they are very rare drops from enemies near the end of the game. The best method to knock this trophy out is online co-op, because you get one Mark for each boss defeated together. I suggest doing so in the depths, because each map has 3-5 bosses and can be reset by traveling back to Home Base. The two best options are Den of Darkness for speed and Misty Ruins for boss count. If you are finding it hard to locate a partner, head over to the Trophy Boosting Thread.

You can also farm the Tower of Trials maps provided you have beaten the game once and have downloaded update 1.20. These provide a much faster way to farm Mark of Honor medals for both online and offline players. See [here] for my guide to the Tower of Trials.

In this step, you will earn:

Exalted Reputation
Revenant Preeminent

43 trophies ( 13  26  25  )

  • Earn all trophies

This trophy will unlock when you have earned all other trophies. Congrats!

  • Learn 150 Gifts (excluding those learned when acquiring a blood code)

Gifts are your abilities in Code Vein and can be learned through a few different methods. There are over 200 gifts you can learn across 32 blood codes. Each new blood code you obtain will have anywhere from four to eleven available gifts to learn, excluding any that you start with. You learn gifts by purchasing them with haze, which allow you to use them on that blood code. You can also find single-use gifts from side quests or depth dungeons that count toward this trophy. These are called RV Mastery gifts and to learn them you need to consume them from your inventory. One last thing to note: Some gifts may be locked until you collect the respective Vestige parts. You will have to restore these Vestiges with Io or any Attendant of the Relics before being able to purchase that gift. Haze is very easy to come by in this game so feel free to spend the majority of it learning gifts. It is also very important to begin inheriting gifts right away. See Burning Spirit for more information.

  • Restore all Vestiges

Vestiges are spiked red crystals that can be found throughout the world. These are very important items in regards to viewing memories, obtaining blood codes and they affect all three endings. I recommend going for this trophy on your true ending, because you need to restore successor memories for some Vestiges. Once you collect a Vestige, you can restore it by talking to Io at Home Base. Some Vestiges require multiple parts so make sure you grab them all to restore them. Each one takes you to a unique backstory about the character it represents. These scenes can be skipped by double tapping if you get bored. I have created a few separate posts below for all the Vestiges needed for this trophy [LINK]. This includes maps that should help you navigate if you get lost from my text descriptions. I also have a playlist of all Vestiges by location if you prefer a visual guide (all credit to Murad Zero): LINK. He also has a fantastic all-in-one Guide for Vestiges, which I've embedded below:

  • Explore every part of the depths

There are 12 parts of the depths, each one requiring a map found through side quests or world exploration. These maps will take you to a dungeon with similar features to their above ground counterparts. They will also have 3-5 bosses each, with the final boss being a rendition of the boss found in that world. To access the depths, talk to Davis at Home Base and he will allow you to fast travel to any map you have access to. Simply visiting each of the 12 maps is enough for the trophy, however most of the maps have a Vestige needed for Mender of Minds so I recommend clearing all of them. Below is a list of the maps. If you prefer a video guide, here's another one from Murad Zero:

    • Den of the Dead: Located in the Ruined City Underground, just before turning up to the Oliver Collins boss fight. If you missed it, travel back to the Ruined City Underground – Outer Crossroads mistle and backtrack the way you came until you find the map near a corpse in a dead end.

    • Den of Darkness:: After defeating Oliver Collins, a new NPC named Shang will show up in the Outer Crossroads. Talk to him and he will give you a side quest to retrieve some materials, along with the Den of Darkness depths map. Keep this NPC in mind, as he is the source of three depths maps and will give you a new one once you’ve retrieved the item he requests and protect him from an invasion.

    • Town of Sacrifice: In the Dried-Up Trenches, you will come upon a metal shack, just before the final leg to the boss fight. Look beyond the shack off the edge for a drop down that will lead you to a hidden mistle. Up the ladder from this mistle is the map.

    • Flood of Impurity: Eventually you will need to touch a statue to lower a ladder to the Cathedral of Sacred Blood. After climbing a very huge ladder, turn 180 degrees and you’ll find a hidden alcove with the map. If you missed it, you can just travel to the Cathedral of Sacred Blood Entrance mistle and backtrack to this area.

    • Misty Ruins: Located in the Crypt Spire. Continue into the level a ways, opening both a ladder and a door with a lever. Right after the second lever, the path will split west and Northwest. Take the Northwest route and the map is located at the dead end, guarded by a Elite Knight Lost.

    • Zero District: After defeating the Queen's Knight Reborn in the Provisional Government Outskirts, you will head into a tunnel on the way to the final area of the game. After sliding down a ladder into a hole, the map is there on the ground right next to it.

    • Void District: Once you get to the Provisional Government Center, head into the area (right path, left is a dead end). Head down the linear path and keep an eye out for a ladder that leads down, blocked by some boxes. At the bottom of this ladder is a shortcut back to the mistle (right path) and the map up a ladder (left path).

    • Swirling Flood: For this map, you will need to head back to Shang and continue his questline. This includes heading into the depths map Den of Darkness to retrieve an item for him, as well as defending him from an invasion. Eventually he will give you this map with another request to retrieve an item from there. If Shang is not advancing his questline, try fast traveling to Home Base and back to get it to continue. If that still doesn’t work, come back later in the story after progressing further, most likely after clearing the Howling Pit and Dried-Up Trenches.

    • Cliffs of Rust: This map is tied to a side quest that can be completed fairly early in the game. After defeating the Butterfly of Delirium, travel back to the parking garage and there will be a Self-Important Revenant NPC. Talk to him and he will tell you to clear out a large lost near the Park Ruins mistle. Do so and the NPC will move to the Decayed Ship Interior mistle. Speaking with him here will give you the Cliffs of Rust map. You must continue with this questline for the Rocky Ruins depths map so feel free to do so whenever convenient.

    • Silent White: Silent White is the third and final map you will receive from Shang, the old-world materials vendor in the Outer Crossroads. He will initially give you a map that you need to retrieve something from, then needs to be defended from an invasion, then will give you a second map to retrieve something from. After all that is said and done, he will admit he was mistaken and give you the third map to, once again, go fetch something for him. If Shang is not advancing his questline, try fast traveling to Home Base and back to get it to continue. If that still doesn’t work, come back later in the story after progressing further, most likely after clearing the Ridge of Frozen Souls.

    • Arachnid Grotto: This one is obtained from clearing a three part side-quest from Gustav, who first shows up at the Dried-Up Trenches mistle after defeating the boss here. He will send you on a series of fetch quests before coughing up the map. The first item is located in the Ruined City Center – Parking Garage area. Travel here and head up the ramp to the top floor, where you can find the fetch item on the ground behind some boxes. It will be lit up on the map with a blue star so just follow this to find it.

After clearing the Cathedral of Sacred Blood, Gustav will have another request for you back at the Dried-Up Trenches Entrance. This time he sends you off to the ever so confusing Cathedral. Fast travel to the Outlook Tower mistle and simply follow the blue star on your map to easily locate it.

Now you need to clear the Ridge of Frozen Souls, then once again return to Gustav in the Dried-Up Trenches. He will send you back to the Ridge. This item is easily accessed by traveling to the Observatory Site mistle and following the blue star on your map.

Finally, after completing the first three requests, Gustav will relocate to the Ashen Cavern – Accumulator Ruins mistle. You may have to defeat the Gilded Knight for him to show up. Once you talk to him here, he will give you the Arachnid Grotto map (and a fourth fetch quest) so that is all we need from him. Side note: If you have cleared all of the above maps before talking to Gustav, he will give you all three to fetch at the same time, which can save going back and forth to him for each individual item.

    • Rocky Ruins: The final depths map requires you to fully complete the side quests of both Self-Important Revenant and another NPC named Richard. We'll start with Self-Important Revenant, who first shows up in the Parking Garage after defeating the Butterfly of Delirium. Simply head over to the Park Ruins and defeat the large lost enemy to progress.

Now he will relocate to the Decayed Ship Interior mistle in the Dried-Up Trenches. Talking with him would have given you the Cliffs of Rest map but now you need to talk to Davis and head there to kill the monster Self-Important Revenant is requesting to continue the quest.

Lastly, he will travel to the City Ruins – Butterfly of Delirium mistle. You may have needed to visit the Memories of Player flashback, located in the Cathedral of Sacred Blood. This is where you will need to travel to locate the final item he needs to complete his quest. As a side note, I had to talk to Self-Important Revenant, travel back to Home Base and talk to him again to get Richard to move. Try this out if things get stuck.

Now for Richard's easy side quest. Richard starts out in the Howling Pit Entrance after defeating the Invading Executioner here. He has lost his sleeping bag and requires you to fetch it. The bag isn’t too far from your current location so head off towards the blue star.

After part 1, Richard will be stuck down in the pit in the Ridge of Frozen Souls. Head from the entrance mistle and keep an eye out for the first set of exploding lost. Before you turn left here towards them, there is a drop down area that leads to a Vestige (if you've been getting those) and poor Richard. Help him defeat the lost and loop back up and down the pit to talk to him and progress to part 3. If he is not here yet, try advancing further into the story first.

Richard will now be stuck way back in the Ruined City Underground – Cavern Depths now. Once again he will require you to defeat a lost enemy nearby so do that, then report back to complete the side quest. If you have already done Self-Important Revenant’s side quest, he should also give you the [b]Rocky Ruins[/b] depth map. Finally! If not, try fast traveling back and forth to home base and speak with him again or try to talk to Self-Important Revenant to see if his quest is still hung up.

  • Listen to partner conversations 50 times while exploring

As your explore with a partner in tow, they will make many comments about the scenery, collectibles etc. This will come naturally as long as you keep a partner with you and may be one of the first trophies you earn.

  • Receive 30 presents from friends

In order to receive presents from friends, you must first exchange a few gifts to them. These gifts are old-world junk and can be found throughout the game world. There are also old-world materials that can be exchanged to Shang in the Outer Crossroads that will allow you to pick and choose your presents. Every now and then when you return to base, give all of your partners your gifts and they will start giving you some. You can pick them up at any mistle under the presents tab. This trophy may take you a while but do not worry because you can keep receiving presents well into NG+ and beyond. I have also created a spreadsheet that contains all the presents you can exchange: LINK

  • Raise your reputation as a companion to rank 30

First and foremost, update 1.20 introduced the Tower of Trials, which provides both offline and online players a better way to farm Mark of Honor medals. Please see [here] for my Tower of Trials guide.

Your reputation in this game can only be raised by collecting Mark of Honors. Unfortunately you need 400 of them for rank 30, which will be a colossal grind. While this trophy can be farmed offline at a very abysmal rate, you will want to go online for this if possible. This is because every boss defeated in online co-op grants a Mark of Honor. Combine this with various depths maps and you can easily farm 50+ medals an hour. I recommend the Misty Ruins map because there are 5 bosses and they can killed pretty quickly. Here is a video of me farming the Misty Ruins with a random partner:

Once you have defeated all bosses, you can reset them by fast traveling right back to the Misty Ruins. While multiplayer is the way to go for these medals, they are farmable. Below are some places you can get them. If you are set on farming these, make sure to equip the passive that increases drop rate. It is called Revenant Greed and can be learned from the Hermes blood code.

Cathedral of Sacred Blood – Outlook Tower mistle. From here, head into the area and turn right. Follow the spiral staircase down and the path will come to a split. You will see an ominous black knight to the left and another spiral staircase to the right. Head right and look under the stairs, behind a shielded female lost. The Mark is hidden amongst the boxes. You can grab this once on every playthrough.

Provisional Government Center – Entrance Mistle. As you head into the area (right path, left is a dead end) you will eventually need to go down a ramp where two bayonet lost and a large woman lost are waiting for you. Go past them and keep an eye out for breakable objects to your left. There is a Mark of Honor tucked in a hidden area here. Once again, you can grab this once per playthrough.

Elite Knight Lost: There are only a few of these in the game but they respawn after killing them. One can be found in the same location of Cathedral mentioned above (left path takes you to this guy). One is located in the City of Fallen Flame near Scathach Vestige Part B. There is also one right in front of the dog tag door in Ashen Cavern and seems to be the friendliest place to farm. For this, you can run back and forth between the Accumulator Ruins and dog tag door (that leads to City of the Fallen Flame). Lastly, you can find a few throughout Crypt Spire, including the first enemy you run into there. Here is a screenshot of an Elite Knight Lost, courtesy of my friend Spooky on Discord:

Argent Knight Lost: You can find plenty of these enemies in the Provisional Government Center. They wield various weapons but all of them have a very low chance to drop a Mark of Honor upon defeat. The fastest farm method for these guys is to boot up the Connecting Bridge mistle and head backwards into the level. There are many Argent Knights here, which can be killed quickly. Don't forget to put on Revenant Greed to increase drop rate. Here is a screenshot of an Argent Knight Lost, courtesy of my friend Spooky on Discord:

  • Unlock the ability to inherit 50 Gifts

Gifts are your abilities in Code Vein. You inherit gifts by equipping that blood code, purchasing the gift with haze, equipping that ability to your attack shortcuts, then defeating enemies. You don't ever need to use that ability, just have it equipped while defeating enemies until it is mastered. Once you inherit a gift, it will have a star in the top right and you can equip it while using any blood code. You can also automatically inherit a gift buy purchasing it outright. This requires additional haze and various variants of Awake MJXXX items found throughout the game world.

The best way to earn this trophy is to switch up your blood code as often as possible and equip every gift you purchase. You will eventually have more haze than you know what to do with so you do not have to be frugal with it. I recommend working on this trophy immediately until you have all 50. This is because gifts are learned faster when you are defeating enemies close to your level. There is no way to tell what level enemies are to my knowledge. There is a decent farming spot for this mid game as well and works well up to character level 90. I tested this again at level 150 and it does not work at all so make sure to farm gifts before gaining too many levels. Halfway through the Cathedral of Sacred Blood, you will come across a unique Vestige that will transport you to a past memory. The third mistle of this area, called Main Battlefield, has two female lost nearby that provide a lot of proficiency experience. Simply equip all of the gifts you wish to learn, farm these two, rest at the Mistle and repeat. Here is a video of me farming them to learn some gifts:

If you have over-leveled yourself and are having trouble learning gifts, you can try searching for players in co-op. Your level will automatically scale to theirs, meaning every enemy will give plenty of proficiency experience to inherit your gifts.

  • Equip every weapon type

There are only five weapon types in Code Vein and you can obtain all of them very early in the game. Simply equip one of each type in the weapon menu to earn this. If you are missing one, Murasame should sell a basic version of it at some point in the story so check with her at Home Base. The five weapon types are as follows: One-Handed Sword, Two-Handed Sword, Spear, Hammer and Bayonet. The character menu also has a sorting option to help you locate which weapon you have not obtained yet.

  • Equip every Blood Veil type

There are only four Blood Veil types that you will need to equip for this trophy, which are: Ogre, Stinger, Hounds and Ivy. Like the weapons, all four can be purchased from Murasame or found throughout the game world. Use the sorting feature to your advantage when equipping or purchasing one you may have missed.

  • Collect every blood code

    MISSABLE

There are 32 blood codes that you will need to collect for this trophy. Most of them are found through story progression and exploration. There are also four tied strictly to both the good and bad endings of the game so you cannot earn them all in a single playthrough. That is why this trophy is marked missable so make sure you take the proper steps to earn each ending at least once. Here are the blood codes:

    • Fighter – You begin with this blood code.

    • Ranger – You begin with this blood code.

    • Caster – You begin with this blood code.

    • Berserker – Obtained after defeating the first boss, Oliver Collins, in the Ruined City Underground.

    • Prometheus – Louis's blood code, simply speak with him at Home Base to obtain this code. If does not give it to you, try advancing in the story a bit before talking to him again.

    • Hunter – The blood code is found in the Ruined City Center. After arriving at the Parking Garage mistle, you will drop down a ladder and encounter some enemies. When the path splits for the first time, head right and directly into your first lost invasion. The Hunter blood code is around the corner here, near a chest.

    • Artemis – This is Mia’s blood code. Mia will show up in Home Base after defeating the Invading Executioner in the Howling Pits and speaking with her should give you the code. If not, try talking to her again later in the story.

    • Assassin – Located in the Howling Pits. From the entrance, head as far east as you can and you will eventually find this blood code up on a raised platform.

    • Atlas – Yakumo's blood code. Simply speak with him at Home Base and he will give it to you. If he does not, try advancing the story a bit before speaking with him again.

    • Dark Knight – This blood code is acquired automatically by defeating the Gilded Knight in the Ashen Caverns.

    • Demeter – After defeating all four successors, head back to Karen in the Cathedral of Sacred Blood. This blood code will be sitting in front of her down the stairs from the Crypt of the Ribcage mistle.

    • Eos – This is Io's blood code and she will give it to you by speaking with her at Home Base after defeating the first successor.

    • Fionn – For this blood code, you must collect all four parts in the Ridge of Frozen Souls and restore them with the Attendant of the Relics before defeating the boss of this area. After doing so, you must restore the successor’s memories after the fight to receive the Fionn code.

    • Hades – You will receive the Hades blood code upon defeating the final boss, no matter which ending you have chosen.

    • Harmonia – For this blood code, you must collect all five parts in the Crown of Sand and restore them with the Attendant of the Relics before defeating the boss of this area. After doing so, you must restore the successor’s memories after the fight to receive the Harmonia code.

    • Heimdal – This is Jack's blood code. He will show up in Home Base after defeating the Successor of the Throat in the Crown of Sand. Simply speak with him to receive his blood code.

    • Hephaestus – This is Murasame the weapon vendor's blood code. Although she is available to speak with immediately, she does not offer up her code until late in the game. When you reach the Crypt Spire, try speaking with her to receive it. If not, keep advancing the story and try again until she gives it to you.

    • Hermes – This is Davis's blood code, the bulky knight at Home Base near the weapon shop. Speak with him after defeating the Butterfly of Delirium to receive it.

    • Ishtar – Ishtar is obtained automatically after defeating the Queen’s Knight Reborn in the Provisional Government Outskirts.

    • Isis – For this blood code, you must collect all five parts in the Cathedral of Sacred Blood and restore them with the Attendant of the Relics before defeating the boss of this area. After doing so, you must restore the successor’s memories after the fight to receive the Isis code.

    • Mercury – This is Coco, the generic item vendor's blood code. Simply speak with her and she will give it to you. If she does not, then try advancing the story a bit and try again.

    • Queenslayer – This blood code is given to you once you defeat the Queen's Knight within your memory. To access this memory, you must pick up a special Vestige directly after the Argent Wolf Berserker boss fight in the Cathedral of Sacred Blood. This will teleport you to a memory of [your name], where you can find Queen's Knight.

    • Scathach – For this blood code, you must collect all five parts in the City of Fallen Flame and restore them with the Attendant of the Relics before defeating the boss of this area. After doing so, you must restore the successor’s memories after the fight to receive the Scathach code.

    • Survivor – This code is located in the Ashen Cavern. Right before the pathway to the Gilded Knight fight, there is a dead end to the right. The blood code is tucked in this corner.

    • Darkseeker – After defeating the Insatiable Despot in the Dried-Up Trenches, you will find this blood code on the ground after a cutscene plays.

    • Queen’s Ribcage – These four blood codes are tied to the Heirs [bad] ending. You must not restore the memories of the successor after each respective boss fight. Make sure to walk past them and out the door. This particular one is obtained after the Successor of the Ribcage fight in the Cathedral of Sacred Blood.

    • Queen’s Breath – These four blood codes are tied to the Heirs [bad] ending. You must not restore the memories of the successor after each respective boss fight. Make sure to walk past them and out the door. This particular one is obtained after the Successor of the Breath fight in the Ridge of Frozen Souls.

    • Queen's Claw – These four blood codes are tied to the Heirs [bad] ending. You must not restore the memories of the successor after each respective boss fight. Make sure to walk past them and out the door. This particular one is obtained after the Successor of the Claw fight in the City of Fallen Flame.

    • Queen's Throat – These four blood codes are tied to the Heirs [bad] ending. You must not restore the memories of the successor after each respective boss fight. Make sure to walk past them and out the door. This particular one is obtained after the Successor of the Throat fight in the Crown of Sand.

    • Warrior – Found in the Crypt Spire. From the beginning, head through the level until you need to pull a level to open a door about twenty feet in front of you. There is a doorway to the right with a ladder that leads up to this code.

    • Scout – This one is actually found in the Rocky Ruins depths map. Please see Deep Trailblazer for a description on how to obtain this map. Once inside, take the east path all the way until you are near the pathway to the miniboss. Look for left pathway that leads to the blood code tucked behind a car.

    • Queen – The final blood code is obtained for getting the true Dweller in the Dark ending. You must restore all four successors' memories, as well as Io's. If done correctly, you should receive the blood code at the end of the final boss fight.
  • Learn 50 Gifts (excluding those learned when acquiring a blood code)

This trophy will unlock upon learning 50 gifts, whether it is from purchasing them or consuming them. Please see Gifted for more information.

  • Upgrade a weapon to its maximum level

In similar vein to Dark Souls, a weapon can be upgraded to +10 with upgrades of increasing quality. In order to do so, you need a grand total of 7 Queen's Iron, 10 Queen's Steel, 10 Queen's Titanium and 2 Queen's Tungsten. Coco will start selling Iron, Steel and Titanium eventually but Tungsten can be found when you reach the Provisional Government Outskirts. Tungsten is also farmable in both the Provisional Government Center and Zero District depth maps so do not worry about missing this trophy. Upgrades are done via Murasame the weapon vendor and I recommend keeping your favorite weapon and blood veil upgraded often to make the game easier on yourself.

  • Give a desired valuable to a friend

Throughout the game world, you will collect various junk from the old world. Each piece of junk can be exchanged to your partners at Home Base for anywhere between 1 and 5 trade points. You will need to give someone a +3 or +5 rated item to earn this trophy. I've created a spreadsheet that lists every item as well as how many points they give: LINK. If you are looking for an easy one, Blood Bead Candy is desired by all nine NPCs. If you need a specific gift, Shang will sell most of the items if you complete the first two steps of his side quest. He is located in the Outer Crossroads.

  • Successfully use a special drain from a parry, back attack, or launch attack

This trophy is exceptionally easy to earn and can be done on your first enemy in the tutorial. Either parry with , circle around him and attack for a back stab or hit + after any non-fatal attack to perform a launch. If you forget, you can access vital information about these attacks in the character menu. I suggest learning how to do them, because they drain Ichor from your foes and will be useful in keeping your Ichor refreshed throughout all areas.

  • Execute a Communal Gift

A Communal Gift is a 20 or 24 Ichor power-up that can be equipped based on which partner you are currently pairing with. In order to execute one, make sure the correct on is equipped for your active partner and you are using a blood code with at least 20 or 24 Ichor. Activate the gift and the trophy will pop. You can sort your gifts to locate Communal Gifts easier. Here is a screenshot of what they look like:

  • View every ending

    MISSABLE

There are four endings in Code Vein: Dweller in the Dark (two versions), Heirs and To Eternity. Each ending is determined by whether or not you have restored the memories of each successor and/or Io. The good news is you can get all four in just three playthroughs. Just make sure to do both Dweller in the Dark endings together, as defined below. All four endings must be done on the same save file and this cannot be cheesed with the PSN Cloud Save feature. I highly advise not choosing Enhanced difficulty when going to a new game, as you will be in for a proper butt kicking if you do. Simply choose to go to NG+ without enhancing the difficulty for each ending. The endings are as follows and can be done in any order you chose:

    • Dweller in the Dark [Good]: You must restore all four successor’s memories. Do so by collecting all the Vestige parts and restoring them with the Attendant of the Relics right before the boss fight, then you must defeat each boss and chose to restore that successors’ memories with when prompted. You must also make sure to not restore all of Io's Vestiges just yet. You can pick them up off the ground, just make sure not to restore them. Beat the final boss and if done correctly, you will be at Home Base with everyone alive and well. Walk out the back door near where the mistle used to be to trigger the end cutscene and roll the credits.

    • Dweller in the Dark [True]: After following the above steps and rolling the credits, you can continue your game right before the final boss fight. Now travel back to Home Base and restore all seven of Io's memories via Eos Vestiges. Once you have done them all, travel back to the Gaol of Stagnant Blood and defeat the final boss once more. Repeat the above steps to trigger the cutscene and if everything is done right, there will be an additional two second scene that will give you this ending and the Dweller in the Dark trophy.

    • Heirs: In order to get this bad ending, you must not restore the memories of the four successors. Just leave all of their Vestige parts on the ground, then walk out at the end of their memory. Do so for all of them and defeating the final boss will give you this ending.

    • To Eternity: To get the neutral ending, you must restore more than one but less than all of the successor’s memories. I suggest walking out on all of them except the Successor of the Breath, because the Vestige parts are easiest to find. Once again, make sure to walk out on at least one successor, while restoring the memories of at least one as well. If done correctly, you will get the To Heirs ending and another trophy.
  • View Io's memory echoes

You will be able to access Io's memories after defeating the Successor of the Ribcage in the Cathedral of Sacred Blood. Talk to Io at home base and choose to restore Vestige, then choose any Eos Vestige. Remember to take into account that restoring every single one of her Vestiges in particular can affect the ending of the game.

  • Defeat the Queen's Knight within your memory

Queen's Knight is the only optional boss in the game, because clearing this area is not required to beat the game. You must first make your way through the Cathedral of Sacred Blood until you've defeated the Argent Wolf Berserker. You can then pick up a special Vestige that teleports you to a memory of your character. Clear this area to fight the Queen's Knight at the end and receive some story related cutscenes.

Queen's Knight is a very aggressive melee boss that can pull off various 1-4 hit combos. He also has a second phase where he will start teleporting around, attacking in between to throw you off. He does not inflict any status effects so take the time to learn his moves and utilize a companion to hold aggro while you smack away with whatever weapon/blood code you feel comfortable with. I personally used Atlas with as many attack and defense buffs as possible. In this fight, Queen's Knight can knock you over the edge easily with his knock back attack so try to stay away from there. Defeating him will give you the Queenslayer blood code, which has some extremely strong buffs that I ended up using to blitz bosses from here on out.

  • Defeat the Queen's Knight Reborn in the provisional government outskirts

Story related and cannot be missed

You will have a rematch against the Queen’s Knight at the end of the Provisional Government Outskirts. His attacks are nearly identical to the first fight within your memory, with the addition of blood damage attacks that are harder to dodge. However, he does surround himself with a green pool during phase 2 but standing inside will inflict leak. It's hard to avoid this so make sure to use up your Ichor to restore buffs when his green pool starts forming. As with every mid-to-late game boss, I used Queenslayer, a two handed sword and as many active offensive buffs as humanly possible. This includes Final Journey, which gives you quick dodge and a massive increase in damage. This strategy makes nearly every boss trivial so feel free to try it out if you are really struggling.

  • Defeat Oliver Collins in the ruined city underground

Story related and cannot be missed.

Oliver Collins is the first boss of the game, fought upon exiting the Ruined City Underground. In both phases of the fight, Oliver is slow to attack and easy to punish. This fight serves as a tutorial of sorts so take the time to learn how to properly dodge/block and he will go down no problem.

  • Defeat the Insatiable Despot in the dried-up trenches

Story related and cannot be missed.

Insatiable Despot will be either the third or fourth boss you fight, depending on the path you take. He is a fairly easy and straightforward boss. The biggest gimmick to look out for is that he spawns a copy of himself in the arena. This copy is easy to defeat, thus I recommend doing so immediately to prevent being tag teamed. Take advantage of your partner in this fight and be aware of when he spawns his clone and Insatiable Despot will go down without too much of a fight.

  • Defeat the Butterfly of Delirium in the ruined city center

Story related and cannot be missed.

Butterfly of Delirium is the second boss you will fight and the first real difficulty spike of the game. She also inflicts poison, thus it is a good idea to have anti-venom consumables on hand. Try to learn her attack patterns and when to punish. She was taking out my partner constantly since Louis was weak at this point in the game, thus I effectively had to solo her. Be careful when healing, because she has a lunge attack she uses often that can cover a ton of ground. Use this boss as a second opportunity to properly learn how to block and dodge and make use of whatever gifts you have learned up to this point.

  • Defeat the Invading Executioner in the Howling Pit

Story related and cannot be missed.

Invading Executioner will be the third or fourth boss you face, depending on the order you travel in. She is fast but predictable. The biggest tip for her is to bring anti-slow items, because being inflicted with slow during this fight is a death sentence. I also took advantage of the GXM Variant +3 found in this area and the Atlas Blood code for extra damage. Executioner also has a long reach lunge attack so try to time your healing when the boss is aggroed to your partner.

  • Defeat the Successor of the Ribcage in the Cathedral of the Sacred Blood

Story related and cannot be missed.

Successor of the Ribcage will spawn at the far end of the cathedral and you must run to her before being able to attack. She does some devastating fire and lightning attacks so it would be a good idea to bring items that resist flame and lightning. I did my best to sprint towards her and unload two-handed sword attacks in order to get a stun, in which I could one-phase her before she teleported to the opposite end of the arena. You must defeat her twice, because she respawns with full health after a story related cutscene. The second time around she will have access to more deadly attacks, including a fire trap that can kill you instantly. Try to avoid this laser cannon death sentence so you can get up close and smack her around until she is defeated.

  • Defeat the Successor of the Breath in the Ridge of Frozen Souls

Story related and cannot be missed.

This is the second successor, a hard hitting armored moose with rocket boots. As you can probably assume from the surrounding area, he is weak to fire and resistant to ice so take advantage of the appropriate gifts. Around 50% health he will launch himself in the air. Try to dodge this move as it is really deadly. Breath will be more agile in phase two but can still be stunned with a lot of two-handed sword hits or fire abilities. Keep at it until he's dead.

  • Defeat the Gilded Hunter in the Ashen Cavern

Story related and cannot be missed.

The Gilded Knight is a tough boss located at the end of the Ashen Cavern. He is both fast and hard hitting but barely gives you an opportunity to attack or recover. He also seems to love you and not your companion, barely ever releasing his aggro. As if that wasn’t enough, he gets even more aggressive around the 50% health mark and will do many one-hit kill combos against you or your partner. As with every mid-to-late game boss, I used Queenslayer (a two handed sword) and as many active offensive buffs as humanly possible. This includes Final Journey, which gives you quick dodge and a massive increase in damage. I suggest giving this a try if you cannot defeat him. Do note that Gilded Knight is extremely resistant to all elements so do not use an elemental buff.

  • Defeat the Successor of the Claw in the City of Falling Flame

Story related and cannot be missed.

Successor of the Claw is the third successor and probably the easiest of the four. She is weak to ice and can be stunned easily with heavy hitting attacks. If done right, you can even stunlock her to death without even allowing her to attack. As with every mid-to-late game boss, I used Queenslayer (a two handed sword) and as many active offensive buffs as humanly possible. This includes Final Journey, which gives you quick dodge and a massive increase in damage. I suggest giving this a try if you cannot defeat her with your current setup.

  • Defeat the Successor of the Throat in the Crown of Sand

Story related and cannot be missed.

The fourth and final successor that you need to defeat along your path is located in the Crown of Sand. There are two things to note in this fight. First, Successor of the throat can inflict Inhibit, which will drain your Ichor over time. Second, the sand in the arena also drains your Ichor, meaning you should hit yourself with a bunch of offensive and defensive buffs before entering. Try to stay as close as you can to her and watch the sand below you. Most of her attacks are extremely difficult to read and can hit both you and your companion multiple times. As with every mid-to-late game boss, I used Queenslayer (a two handed sword) and as many active offensive buffs as humanly possible. This includes Final Journey, which gives you quick dodge and a massive increase in damage. I suggest giving this a try if you cannot defeat her.

  • Defeat the Blade Bearer and Cannoneer in the Crypt Spire

Story related and cannot be missed.

Considered the hardest boss by most, Blade Bearer and Cannoneer will come at you together with relentless force. I suggest using both a flame and ice resistant consumable before entering the arena. My goal has always been to burn Blade Bearer down as quickly as possible, because Cannoneer has about 3 times as much health. Try to stay behind her and read the floor at all times, because both flame and ice pillars will shoot from them, the former dealing massive damage. If your partner is not keeping Cannoneer busy, try to reposition yourself away from them and split them apart. Once Blade is down, you can focus on smacking away at Cannoneer. As with every mid-to-late game boss, I used Queenslayer, a two handed sword and as many active offensive buffs as humanly possible. This includes Final Journey, which gives you quick dodge and a massive increase in damage. I suggest giving this a try if you cannot defeat the duo. If all else fails, try sending a distress signal to find another player willing to help you out.

  • Defeat the boss of the Crypt Spire, Juzo Mido

Story related and cannot be missed.

Unfortunately after your hardest boss so far, you will be thrust into an equally terrifying fight without any break in between. Juzo was the hardest boss for me, because he is relentless and many of his attacks nearly killed me immediately. He also inflicts Inhibit, which will immediately shut off your gifts, active or not. If your partner gets inflicted, he or she cannot revive you. My goal each time was to once again take advantage of Final Journey and Cleansing Light, with anti-inhibit consumables on standby. Juzo also likes to aggro to you over your partner. If you are efficient in dealing out damage, you can stun him multiple times. The more you can do before he goes to phase 2, the better. Phase 2 is when things really start hitting the fan. He will do multiple blood attacks that will also inflict inhibit. Keep your anti-inhibit items at the ready and use one immediately if inflicted. Remember that re-applying Final Journey will fully heal you so do so if it was knocked off by Inhibit. If all else fails, remember that you can send a distress signal for others to come help you. 3v1 does make the fight a whole lot easier if your partner knows what they are doing.

  • Defeat the Skull King in the Gaol of the Stagnant Blood

Story related and cannot be missed.

Skull King is the final boss of Code Vein. He is immune to all status effects and resistant to all elemental attacks. While he hits hard, a few of his attacks are easy to read and dodge/block. Do so and get some attacks in when he isn’t aggroed to you. Skull King can also go through a ton of transformations to make himself both stronger and more resilient. Try to whittle his health down quickly before he can do so multiple times. As with every mid-to-late game boss, I used Queenslayer (a two handed sword) and as many active offensive buffs as humanly possible. This includes Final Journey, which gives you quick dodge and a massive increase in damage. I suggest giving this a try if you cannot defeat him. Do note that there will be a second boss immediately afterwards if you are on the true, good or neutral ending path. This could prove to kill you because of Final Journey so use with caution. It is worth nothing that if you do die during the second boss, you do not have to kill the Skull King again.

  • View Louis's memory echoes

To view a partner's memory echoes, you must first obtain their respective blood code and then locate a Vestige part for that code. For Louis, you must obtain the Prometheus blood code by speaking with him after defeating a few bosses. Then you must collect Prometheus Vestige or Vestige parts in the Dried-Up Trenches and lastly return to Io to restore them. Upon restoring the first memory of Louis, this trophy will unlock. This trophy may also unlock from restoring memories related to Louis, such as the Isis Vestiges from Cathedral of the Sacred Blood but I did not test it.

  • View Yakumo's memory echoes

To view a partner’s memory echoes, you must first obtain their respective blood code and then locate a Vestige part for that code. For Yakumo, you must obtain the Atlas blood code by speaking with him after defeating a few bosses. Afterwards, you must collect Atlas Vestige or Vestige parts in the Howling Pit then return to Io to restore them. Upon restoring the first memory of Yakumo, this trophy will unlock. This trophy may also unlock from restoring memories related to Yakumo, such as the Scathach Vestiges from the City of Fallen Flame but I did not test it.

  • View Murasame's memory echoes

To view a partner's memory echoes, you must first obtain their respective blood code and then locate a Vestige part for that code. For Murasame, you must obtain the Hephaestus blood code by speaking with her after arriving at the Crypt Spire. Afterwards you must collect Hephaestus Vestige or Vestige parts in the Crpyt Spire and then return to Io to restore them. Upon restoring the first memory of Murasame, this trophy will unlock. This trophy may also unlock from restoring memories related to her, such as the Warrior Vestiges from the Crypt Spire but I did not test it.

  • View Coco's memory echoes

To view a partner's memory echoes, you must first obtain their respective blood code and then locate a Vestige part for that code. Coco is a bit unique in having three blood codes with her memories in it. The first of which will be the Hunter Vestige, which parts can be found in the Ruined City Center. The other two are Survivor and Scout Vestiges. Upon restoring the first memory of Coco, this trophy will unlock.

  • View Davis's memory echoes

To view a partner's memory echoes, you must first obtain their respective blood code and then locate a Vestige part for that code. For Davis, you must obtain the Hermes blood code by speaking with him after defeating a few bosses. Afterwards, you must collect Hermes Vestige parts located in various depths maps and lastly return to Io to restore them. Upon restoring the first memory of Davis, this trophy will unlock. This trophy may also unlock from restoring memories related to Davis, such as the Scout Vestige late in the game. I have not tested it so feel free to test it if you haven't set foot in the depths yet.

  • View Mia's memory echoes

To view a partner's memory echoes, you must first obtain their respective blood code and then locate a Vestige part for that code. For Mia, you must obtain the Artemis blood code by speaking with her shortly after she joins the group. Afterwards, you must collect Artemis Vestige or Vestige parts in the Ashen Cavern and then return to Io to restore them. Upon restoring the first memory of Mia, this trophy will unlock. This trophy may also unlock from restoring memories related to Mia, such as the Fionn Vestiges from the Ridge of Frozen Souls but I did not test it.

    MISSABLE

The four endings of Code Vein are affected by whether or not you collect specific Vestiges off the ground and restore them at an Attendant of the Relics before defeating the boss of that area. If you do not collect them and defeat the boss, you will not have the option to restore that Successor's memories. The four areas and their respective Vestiges to look out for are Cathedral of Sacred Blood [Isis], Ridge of Frozen Souls [Fionn], City of Fallen Flame [Scathach], and Crown of Sand [Harmonia]. Each of these four areas will have a boss arena enveloped in a globe, and an Attendant of the Relics will be right outside. This is your cue to stop for a minute and make sure you've got all the parts necessary if you are going for a particular ending. Talking with this Attendant will show you if you have all of the necessary parts to restore the Vestiges. If not, you can backtrack and find them. The Attendant will also show you Eos Vestiges - These are Io's memories and do not need to be restored until the very end of the game, so do not worry about them for now.

If you are choosing to do the Heirs ending, you must not restore any memories of the four Successors located in the areas above. Just leave the Vestige parts on the ground and defeat each boss. This will force you to leave by walking out the back door of each Successor's memory. If you have done everything correctly, you will receive this ending after defeating the Skull King in the Gaol of Stagnant Blood at the end of the game.

If you are looking to earn the To Eternity ending, you must restore the Vestiges of at least one but not all of the four successors. I recommend doing so in the Ridge of Frozen Souls, as it has the easiest Vestiges to locate. Repair these at the Attendant of the Relics before fighting the boss, then restore that person's memories with when prompted. Make sure to leave the back door on the other three Successors, which you will be forced to do if you do not collect all of their respective Vestige parts. If done correctly, you will receive this ending after defeating the Skull King in the Gaol of Stagnant Blood.

Dweller in the Dark is considered the good ending of Code Vein. There are two variants of this ending, and both are needed for Determiner of Fate. For this ending, you must collect and restore all four Vestiges at the locations mentioned above. You must also restore the memories of all four Successors with at the end of their respective memory sequences. The difference between both endings is only dependent on whether or not you restore Io's memories (Eos Vestiges). Beat the game first without restoring Io's memories to get ending #1, and then after the credits have rolled, restore her memories and beat the boss again for ending #2. Either one will earn you this trophy after defeating the Skull King in the Gaol of Stagnant Blood. You only need both if going for the Determiner of Fate trophy.
