Introduction:

When a dame-sel in distress shows up in Sonny's office, he's left with no choice but to help her and her mistress, Natasha, get to the bottom of a line of threats that have come the Natasha's way. After enlisting the help of Marty, the second and not-so-better half of the Chicken Police, Sonny will need to investigate clues, interview persons-of-interest and even escape a dastardly duo of a ram and a bobcat. As each piece of the puzzle unfolds, Sonny and Marty quickly learn that they're in over their head with a case that is much bigger than either of them had initially thought. Use your wits to get to the bottom of this noire-themed roller coaster of a thriller.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Play through the game while getting "Living Legend" on all questionings, finding all of the collectibles and the miscellaneous trophies

As you play through the game in this step, you want to be on the lookout for all the collectibles available in the game. In total, there are 97 Personal Informations, 27 Codex Entries, 10 Chicken Police Novels, 58 Art Gallery Items and 17 Cutscenes. You need to get all the Personal Informations and Codex Entries in one playthrough to get their respective trophies but the Novels, Gallery Items and Cutscenes can be earned across multiple save files. The (long) list of the locations of all the items is provided under True collector trophy_gold.png. The cutscenes are the only things not listed as 16 of them are Story Related and the final one is related to the Secret Ending, which you'll get from the Novels. Outside of those, you want to keep an eye out for themiscellaneous trophies (The explorer trophy_silver.png, Drinking problems trophy_silver.png, Shadows from the past I. trophy_bronze.png, Shadows from the past II. trophy_bronze.png, The social type trophy_silver.png, Burn, baby, Burn! trophy_bronze.png, Lights out trophy_bronze.png, Sharpshooter trophy_bronze.png, Golden Heart trophy_bronze.png, For the old times sake trophy_bronze.png, Barking dogs never bite trophy_bronze.png and Is this love? trophy_bronze.png). The chapters these are earned in are provided under their trophy descriptions so just make sure you give them a look over so you can plan your route through the game properly. From there, you just need to focus on getting a "Living Legend" rank on all 8 of the questionings in the game. The options you need to choose for these are all provided under Santino Featherland trophy_gold.png. Once you complete the game and if you've picked up all the collectibles in this single run, you will earn the following trophies in the order they should unlock:

  • Get a "Living Legend" grade on a questioning

    Missable.

You'll need to get "Living Legend" on all 8 Questionings/Interviews for Santino Featherland trophy_gold.png so please see that trophy for more information.
  • Get a "Frank Drebin" grade on a questioning

    MISSABLE

While this trophy is missable, it's highly recommended you get it on its own separate playthrough from every other trophy since it requires you to do absolutely horrible in a questioning, which is the exact opposite of what you need to do for Santino Featherland trophy_gold.png and Sherlock Combs trophy_gold.png. More specifically, you need to get a rating of no more than 10% on a questioning (again, absolutely horrible). The first questioning you can do is at the very beginning of the game with Deborah Ibanez. When you get to that point, choose the following questions to get the rating required:
    • Who exactly are you ma’am?
    • You’re not very confident. Are you sure you’re alright?
    • Did you come alone? All by yourself?
    • Do you even know what you want?
    • Were you born and raised in Clawville?
    • Why did you come to visit me? Why not your employer herself?
    • I’m sure it’s not intentional but are you toying with me?
    • This is just too risky for me, I can’t take the case!
    • Are you in some sort of jam?
    • Have you ever felt truly vulnerable?
    • Tell me, Deborah, why should I believe you at all?
    • Be honest and tell me what you are so afraid of?
  • Find all 10 Chicken Police novels

    Missable

These will also be listed under True collector trophy_gold.png but since all 10 are also required for the special ending for It was her, right?! trophy_gold.png, I'm also going to list them here so you can be sure to grab them all. You do not have to get these all in one playthrough. Your progress with the Cutscenes, Artwork and Books carry across your save files (so long as you don't delete the save file(s), of course). If you pick up one of the Books then start a new/separate save, the Book will actually be missing in the scene of the new file since the game registers you as already have picked it up. Whichever save file you pick up the final Book on will be the save file you get the secret ending on. If you don't see a book where it's supposed to be, that'll be why. Their locations are as follows:

    Chapter 1

Book #1: "Bell of the Pantheress" - on the bench inside the Clawville Police Station. You can get this on any visit to the Station so long as a character isn't blocking the view of it, which will mostly be Bosco or Bloodboyle. The last time you'll be able to get this will be in Chapter 3 when you find Zipp hanging about.

Book #2: "Fly in the Soup" - Outside of the Hop-Dog, on the sidewalk just behind Fly-Guy. You can get this on any visit to the Hop-Dog. The last time you'll be able to pick it up will be in Chapter 4. The Hop-Dog will be available as a Limited Location before you make your way to the Wessler Residency so be sure to grab it before you go there.

Book #3: "The 7th Rule of Predation" - Highly MISSABLE. You'll only get one chance to get this book. When you first visit the Czar Club, you'll eventually make your way upstairs to talk with Natasha Catzenko. Before you talk to her (or before you leave her room), pickup the book sitting on the couch behind her.

Book #4: "Dead-Silent Night" - Leaning on the kiosk of Mullen's Newsstand. You can get this on any visit to Mullen's. The last time you'll be able to pick it up will be in Chapter 4. Mullen's Newsstand will be available as a Limited Location before you make your way to the Wessler Residency so be sure to grab it before you go there.

    Chapter 2

Book #5: "Cat Catchers" - Highly MISSABLE. After escaping the flaming party boat, you'll find yourself on the Docks with Captain Marsh. On the dock just to the left of him is the book. This is the one and only time you can get this book so be sure to grab it either before you start talking to the Captain or before you leave, preferrably the former.

    Chapter 3

Book #6: "Who's Next?" - On the surgical table inside "Dr." Bubo's office. You can pick this up any time you visit this location. The last time you'll be able to will be in Chapter 4. Bubo's Place will be available as a Limited Location before you make your way to the Wessler Residency so be sure to grab it before you go there.

Book #7: "The Bloody New Year's Eve" - Highly MISSABLE. After you leave Bubo's Place at the beginning of the chapter, the Weekend House will become available as a Limited Location. When you arrive, the Clawville P.D. will be investigating a certain matter that has absolutely nothing to do with you or Marty. Outside the house will be a cop car. On the hood of the cop car is the book. This cop car isn't present each time you go to the Weekend House so be sure to grab it here to ensure you don't miss it.

    Chapter 4

Book #8: "For a Handful of Waffles!" - Highly MISSABLE. After you speak with Dr. Quetzal in the Asylum, you'll make your way to Albert's room. The book is sitting on the nightstand, just next to the bed. This is the one and only time you'll be in this room so make sure you grab it before you leave.

Book #9: "The Color Killers" - Highly MISSABLE. Before you make your way to the Wessler Residency, Mullen's Newsstand will become available as a Limited Location. Head there and interact with the glass of the Chandler's bookstore to "find" it, then interact with the bottom left of the window to actually pick it up. You need to do this before going to the Wessler Residency as this is the one and only time this book will be available at this location.

Book #10: "Farewell From Fowls" - Highly MISSABLE. Inside the Wessler's Residency. When you go upstairs, before talking with Wessler, pickup the book sitting on the bed. You must pick this up before you talk with Wessler.

There are 4 types of Collectibles required for this trophy, 2 of which you need to collect in full on 1 single save file and 2 you can get across multiple saves. There are 97 Personal Informations and 27 Codex Entries which need to be collected on one single run, then 10 Chicken Police Novels and 58 Art Gallery Pieces which can be collected across multuple save files. If you're using multiple saves, be sure to not delete any of them. You can check your progress towards the Novels and Gallery items on the Main Menu under the "Extras" option. The breakdown of where to find each collectible in the rough order you'll get them is listed below (rough order is depending on what order you visit the 'Limited Locations' between the 'Main Locations'). The only thing not listed are story-related gallery items since you'll pick those up automatically (as well as any Gallery items you pick up via dialogue options with the other collectibles). If you're also going for The explorer trophy_silver.png, be sure to visit the Limited Locations, even if there are no collectibles to be found in the area.

  • Visit all the limited locations

    MISSABLE

There are 15 "Limited Locations" you can visit as you play through the game. These are places you can visit between the Main Locations that progress the story and will be marked with an hourglass on the map. You'll need to visit most if not all of these to get Codexes, Personal Information bits, Books and the such so if you're going for Platinum, you'll need these. You also want to be visiting these as they provide extra information towards the case, which is always handy. Unlike the Artworks, Cutscenes and Books, all 15 locations need to be visited on the same save file for the trophy to unlock. The locations you need to visit in each chapter are as follows:

    Chapter 1:

After leaving Clawville P.D. the first time:
    Hop-Dog
    Hotel Atlas

After leaving the Czar Club the first time:
    Clawville P.D.
    Hop-Dog

After leaving the Weekend House the first time:
    Czar Club
    Mullen's Newsstand
    Clawville P.D.

    Chapter 2

    N/A

    Chapter 3

After leaving Bubo's Place the first time:

    Weekend House
    The Sweltering Nile

After leaving the Hop-Dog (as a Main Location):
    Mullen's Newsstand

    Chapter 4

After leaving Hotel Atlas (as a main location, after the Asylum):
    Mullen's Newsstand
    Weekend House
    Hop-Dog
    Bubo's Place
  • Complete all the questionings with "Living Legend" results

    MISSABLE

There are a total of 8 Questionings that you'll do in the game. You need to get the "Living Legend" rank on one save file to get the trophy (progress towards this trophy does not stack across save files). To get "Living Legend", you need to remain on topic and successfully get information from the animal being questioned. Each answer gives a different amount of points so you want to go for the most amount of points possible. If you ask a question that gives you a negative score, it's guaranteed you won't get Living Legend and will need to try again. If you don't want to use the question-guide below, you can manually backup your save before each interview starts and if you mess up, just re-download your save file and try again. Otherwise, the answers you need to choose for each questioning are as follows:

  • Get all codex entries

    MISSABLE

There are a total of 27 Codex Entries you need to collect in the game. These are gained through conversations, questionings and general exploration in the game. You need to get all 27 Codex Entries on one save file for this trophy (the progress does not stack across sace files). Please see True collector trophy_gold.png for where to find them since they are required for that trophy, along with all of the other collectibles in the game.
  • Get all personal informations

    MISSABLE

This is the big collectible type in the game. In total, there are 97 Personal Informations you need to collect as you play through the game. Similar to the Codexes, these are gained through conversations, questionings and general exploration in the game. You need to get all 97 on one save file for this trophy (the progress does not stack across save files). Please see True collector trophy_gold.png for where to find them since they are required for that trophy, along with all of the other collectibles in the game.
  • Collect all the songs for the jukebox

    Story Related

When you first go to the Hop-Dog (it'll first be available after your first visit to the police station), you might notice that the Jukebox is missing a few songs. Well, four songs to be exact. These will unlock naturally as you play through the game and visit certain story-related locations. You will need to interact with the Jukebox when all the songs are actually unlocked to actually get the trophy but this will happen naturally to progress through Chapter 3 so you don't need to worry about missing this one.
  • Talk with all the characters in the game

    MISSABLE

There are a total of 28 characters you need to talk with in the game. They are all listed under the "Persons" tab in your notebook. The majority of them are Story Related but there are a few that are Missable (most of which are incredibly hard to actually miss). The main ones you want to be on the lookout for are Mort (Blind, trouble-making crocodile), Gabriel (Wessler's bobcat henchman), Czar Club Bartender (Lance), Hercules Mullen (only available when Mullen's Newsstand is available as a Limited Location) and the Fox Lady in the lobby of the Sweltering Nile. Outside of those, you shouldn't have much trouble locating/talking with the others. Just in case though, all the characters you need to speak to are listed below. They're roughly in the order in which you see them in game (some may vary depending on what order you do the Limited Locations in). You need to talk to all 28 on one save file for this trophy (progress does not stack across save files for this one).
    1. Deborah Ibanez: Story Related
    2. Lewis: Story Related
    3. Fillis (and technically Royce): Story Related (Porcupine outside of Clawville P.D., then later outside of the Weekend House). When you speak with Fillis, you'll automatically talk to Royce as well so it's a two-for-one deal
    4. Monica: MISSABLE, albeit hard to miss (Receptionist at Clawville P.D.)
    5. Mort: MISSABLE (Inside the Clawville P.D. when you first visit that location)
    6. Bosco: Story Related
    7. Marty MacChicken: Story Related
    8. Bloodboyle: Story Related
    9. Fly-Guy: MISSABLE (Outside of the Hop-Dog in Chapters 1-3 (he is not available in Chapter 4)
    10. Zipp H. Murphy: Story Related (First interaction is at the Hop-Dog)
    11. Czar Club Bouncer (Archibald Conway): Story Related
    12. Czar Club Bartender (Lance): MISSABLE, albeit hard to miss
    13. Filmar Low: Story Related
    14. Hobart "Ibn" Wessler: Story Related
    15. Wessler Henchman (Gabriel): Missable. He's standing behind Wessler in the Czar Club. You won't be able to talk to him until after you interview Wessler.
    16. Olivia Blackwig: Story Related
    17. Natasha Catzenko: Story Related
    18. Timothy Saltwater: Story Related
    19. Hercules Mullen: MISSABLE. Only available when Mullen's Newsstand is available as a Limited Location.
    20. Fox Lady: MISSABLE. Inside the lobby of The Sweltering Nile. She's the only 'dame' you can talk to.

  • Get all the 58 art gallery pictures

    MISSABLE
These are required for True collector trophy_gold.png so please see that for more information regarding all the collectibles within the game.
  • Score at least 5000 points at the shooting range

    MISSABLE

You can get this trophy any time you visit the Clawville P.D., with the last opportunity being in Chapter 3 when you have to visit the Police Station as a Main Location in the game (Zipp will be inside the station on this visit). If you progress with the story after leaving the Station here, you won't be able to come back.

In the shooting range where you found Marty, you can do some practice with your Magnum. You need to turn the light on before you can (such a simple thing but really easy to miss) but when you do, interact with the targets in the back to start the "minigame" up. As with a standard shooting range, targets will drop down from the ceiling which you'll need to shoot. Take out only the bad guys and be sure to avoid shooting the "good guys" to avoid getting deducted points. Your gun clip only holds 6 bullets so when you run out, press circle.png to reload and continue on your way. This will undoubtedly take you a few tries to get as the aiming in this game is incredibly heavy so just practice as much as you need. You'll need to reach 5,000 points in 3 minutes. Once you successfully do so, the trophy will unlock.
  • Get all the cutscenes of the game

    MISSABLE

All but one of the cutscenes in the game will be Story Related. The one you need to be on the look out for is associated with the Secret Ending for It was her, right?! trophy_gold.png, which you'll get if you collect all the Chicken Police Novels for A real bookworm! trophy_gold.png While the trophy is missable if you're going for it in one single run, your progress towards this trophy does stack across save files as long as you don't delete any of them. You can check your progress towards these on the Main Menu under the "Extras" screen. The trophy will unlock on whichever save you also get It was her, right?! trophy_gold.png on since that's the only missable one.
  • Finish the game with 0 failed questionings

    MISSABLE

You can get this alongside Santino Featherland trophy_gold.png since you need to get "Living Legend" on every questioning for that so please see that trophy for the answers you should be choosing and you'll get both trophies in the same game.

Secret trophies

  • Steal that fancy whisky from the Czar Club

    MISSABLE

When you go inside the Czar Club the first time, talk to the bartender and after your initial conversation with them (exhaust all the dialogue you can), Sonny will notice a jar of whisky of really expensive whiskey on the bar counter. Interact with the bottle to confiscate it. As evidence, of course.
  • Talk to Marty about his feelings before confronting Wessler

    MISSABLE

In Chapter 4, you'll visit the Asylum and then Hotel Atlas for the final story-related visit. When you're done in the hotel, a handful of Limited Locations will appear on the map. Head to the Weekend House before you go to the Wessler Residency. You'll go through some dialogue when you get there but when you get a chance, head inside the Weekend House and you'll go through some dialogue with Marty. When it's done, this trophy will unlock. You'll also gain some Personal Information required for True collector trophy_gold.png and Psychiatrist trophy_bronze.png
  • Talk to Marty about the case that separated the Chicken Police

    MISSABLE

While this trophy is labeled as "II", it's highly likely you'll get this before you actually get the first one. In Chapter 4, after you finish up at the Asylum, you'll find yourself back at Hotel Atlas (just outside this time). When you can, head inside the Hotel so you're back in your "office". Interact with Marty and choose to "Speak" with him. Exhaust all the dialogue until you two eventually talk about the infamous Bloody New Years that has haunted you the entire game. When you're done, the trophy will unlock.
  • Get the secret ending!

    MISSABLE

To get the secret ending, you need to collect all 10 of the 'Chicken Police Novels'. Unlike the majority of the other collectibles, you don't need to get these all on one save file. The progress towards collecting these stacks across each save so when you've picked up a book on one, it'll actually disappear from the game should you start a new game (so long as you don't delete the original save file). Because of this, the 'secret ending' will happen on whatever save file you pickup the last book on. For the locations of all 10 books, please see either A real bookworm! trophy_gold.png or True collector trophy_gold.png (both trophies list their locations). The secret ending plays at the very end of the game, after the case has already been solved and everyone went home to have a sad cigarette.
  • Die at least 3 times on the burning ship

    MISSABLE

Roughly halfway through Chapter 2, you'll find yourself and Marty in a bit of pickle on a ship that just so happens to be on fire, for one reason or another. Definitely not because of anything you particularly did. You need to die three times here before escaping the burning boat. When you have to untangle the ropes, just idle the game and when the timer on the bottom left runs out (turns fully red), you'll die. Rinse and repeat two more times and on your third death, the trophy will unlock.
  • Kill the 2 lights of the enemy car in one of the car chase sequences

    MISSABLE

There are two car chase sequences in the game, both of which will give you unlimited tries to get this trophy (so long as you keep dying, of course). The first chase is in Chapter 3 and the second chase is in Chapter 4. Out of the two, I personally found the second sequence to be much easier to get this on as the enemy car swerves much less, giving you a better chance to aim properly (the aiming controls in the game are quite heavy, making manuevering about a bit difficult). You need to shoot out both of the headlights before destroying their car. If you feel like you're doing too much damage to them and not enough bursting of headlights, just let them shoot Marty and after a few rounds of bullets, you'll die and will get a chance to try again. You need to do this before their car pulls up to the side of yours, as it'll be near impossible to shoot the headlights from that angle.
  • Help Mort get a room for the night

    MISSABLE

There are two parts to this trophy, this first being in Chapter 1 and the second being in Chapter 3.

In Chapter 1, when you first go to Clawville P.D., you'll see Mort being detained by Bosco in the lobby. Exhaust all the dialogue with Mort (you'll need to "Speak" to him twice) and he'll ask you for some help getting released so he can go enjoy New Year's night. Afterwards, exhaust all the dialogue with Bosco (you'll need to "Speak" to him three times in total) and you'll eventually convince him to let the old croc go. Talk with Mort one more time to tell him and the good news and, more importantly, to tell him to stay out of trouble.

In Chapter 3, after you leave Bubo's Place, the Czar Club will become available as a Limited Location. Head there to find the recently-released-Mort and Lewis standing outside. Speak with Mort to learn that he has found himself in an unfortunate situation of having no where to go due to a domestic dispute at home. Talk with Lewis afterwards (you'll need to "Speak" with him twice) and you'll call in yet another favor to him to give Mort a room at Hotel Atlas for the night. He'll happily oblige like the gentleman and scholar he is. The trophy will unlock when he does.
  • Visit the Hop-Dog after the first Police scene

    MISSABLE

After you pick up Morty at the Police Station, you will have three areas on the map to choose from; 1 Main Location (The Czar Club) and 2 Limited Locations (The Hop-Dog and Hotel Atlas). Choose to go to the Hop-Dog and go through the dialogue between Sonny and Marty. Head inside the diner and the trophy will unlock (if it didn't already unlock when you were outside).
  • 'Disturb Bloodbolye''s peace at least three times'

    Missable.

Bloodboyle is the Chief-in-charge at the Clawville P.D. who wasn't supposed to be working New Year's night but due to a certain unruly and sloshed Captain, he's found himself back at the station for the night. If that weren't enough to piss him off, he's also not your biggest fan so seeing you back at the station has 'ruff'led his droopy ears even more. He won't take too kindly to you bothering him but you need to do just that for this trophy so be prepared to get yelled and cursed at a few times. There are a four points in the game where you can disturb Bloodboyle. Make sure you exhaust all the dialogue in at least three of these to unlock the trophy (make sure you talk to him until he starts to repeat his profanities at you so the game registers the interactions properly). The locations are as follows:

    Chapter 1

Clawville P.D. (Initial Visit): After you get Marty out of the shooting range, Bloodboyle will appear in the lobby. If the "Speak" option isn't immediately available, choose to "Look" at him first, then exhaust all the dialogue.

Clawville P.D.: After you visit the Weekend House the first time, the Clawville P.D. will open up as a Limited Location. Make sure you visit here before you go to the Hotel Atlas. If the "Speak" option isn't immediately available, choose to "Look" at Bloodboyle first, then exhaust all the dialogue.

    Chapter 3

Clawville P.D.: After visiting the Hop-Dog as a 'Main Location', the next Main Location that opens up will be the Clawville P.D.. When you go here, Zipp will be inside, letting you know that you're at the right part. If the "Speak" option is not immediately available, speak with Monica (the receptionist) first, then exhaust all the dialogue with Bloodboyle.

    Chapter 4

Wessler's Residency: At the very end of the game, when you've solved the case, Bloodboyle will be standing outside the residence. Exhaust all the dialogue with him.
  • Get to the point where Natasha kills Albert Wessler

    Story Related

This will unlock towards the end of Chapter 4.
  • Ask Natasha about Ibn Wessler in her room

    MISSABLE

When you first get to the Czar Club, you'll eventually find your way upstairs to talk with Natasha. After you interview here, exhaust the "Speak" option and you'll eventually as her for a light. After she answers, the "Ask" option will unlock. Choose the "Hobart Ibn Wessler" option and when the dialogue has finished, the trophy will unlock.
  • Talk with the "super-fan" nurse at the asylum

    Story Related

You'll go to the Asylum during Chapter 4 after you've made some pretty big discoveries in the case. When you get inside, there will be two people - a familiar-looking resident and the receptionist. The receptionist is the "super-fan" and is a giraffe a bit too tall for her office. Just talk with her a few times and when she calms her nerves, the trophy will unlock. You'll need to talk to her before you can go upstairs anyways so you can't miss this trophy.
