Introduction

Welcome to my guide for Captain Cat, a puzzle game by Rendercode Games. You play as Captain Cat on his quest for food as you use a rope to skewer a fish/snail on 75 different levels. There is an endless mode as well but it isn’t needed for any trophies. The controls are simple: Hold to release the anchor to start. Once it stops, it will swing back and forth until you decide to press and hold again. Be careful not to go too far! There is no way to go up, only left, right and down. Collect the coins, avoid the obstacles and skewer the fish or snail to complete each level and go on to become the greatest Captain Cat in all the seven seas.

As mentioned above, there are 75 different levels. There are 25 Waspfish and 25 Housekeeper levels that you must complete with three stars. Stars are based on collecting all gold coins, amount of rope knots used, and time spent completing the level. You can see what is needed for each level when it boots up, before you drop anchor for the first time. The biggest advice I can give is that all requirements for 3 stars do not have to be done at the same time. For example: You can spend all the time in the world safely collecting the coins, then replay the level a second time for both time and knots or you can even make three separate runs if you'd like. As long as you complete the three objectives at any time and complete the level, they will count.

Most of the trophies will come from completing the above 50 levels and watching out for miscellaneous trophies The last 25 levels are part of Perfect Mode, which requires you to skewer the fish in a single rope anchor. However you'll be pleased to know that you can just press to skip the first 24 levels, and then just complete level 25 in this mode. This will give you credit for the Sniper Fish trophy with minimal effort.

Walkthrough

Step 1: Complete all 25 Waspfish levels and earn 3 stars on each.

Start by completing the 25 Waspfish levels with 3 stars on each. Most of these are easy and straightforward and give you the lowdown on how to play the game. Remember that if you struggle, you can make separate runs for each star. I found it useful on some of the harder levels to get all of the coins first, then make a timed run using as little knots as possible. Keep an eye out for the Kebab trophy, as this can be done on a few levels in Waspfish. It is also worth mentioning that some levels have treasure chests. Collecting all of these give you a 2x bonus on score for that level. There is a cumulative trophy for earning 100,000 score so I suggest trying to get these on every level until you are done with that trophy.

In this step, you will earn:

Sailor
Guided by the stars
Ship Mate
Bowline
Bounty Hunter
Full Speed Ahead!
Lieutenant
Break on through
Kebab
Captain
Fisherman of the year
Undersea Bee Hive
Golden Waspfish

Step 2: Complete all 25 Housekeeper levels, earning 3 stars on each.

Next you can begin working on the 25 Housekeeper levels. These are more advanced levels but most of them are still simple. You will also need to earn all 3 stars on each level here, just like Waspfish. There’s another miscellaneous trophy here: Ride of the Valkiries. See the trophy guide for more information.

In this step, you will earn:

Admiral
Ride of the Valkiries
A beginner’s guide to the sea
Evicted Fish
Golden HouseKeeper

Step 3: Complete the final level of Perfect Mode

Lastly, you need to complete the 25th level of Perfect Mode. You can play all 25 if you please or you can just skip the levels until you get to the final one and complete that one. It's a bit tricky and took me a few tries but eventually I was able to skewer right through the urchins and complete it.

In this step, you will earn:

Sniper Fish
Platinum

  • Unlock all other trophies

This trophy is awarded once you’ve earned all 19 trophies. Congrats!

  • Collect a gold star

There are 75 stars available in both Waspfish and Housekeeper, for a grand total of 150. This will be the first trophy you earn as you complete level 1-1.

  • Complete all Waspfish levels

Simply complete all 25 Waspfish levels for this trophy. Like Sniper Fish, you could skip all the way to level 25 and complete that to pop the trophy. However there is another trophy for getting all 75 stars in Waspfish so I suggest doing them at the same time if you are going for the completion.

  • Complete all Housekeeper levels

Simply complete all 25 Housekeeper levels for this trophy. Like Sniper Fish, you could skip all the way to level 25 and complete that to pop the trophy. However there is another trophy for getting all 75 stars in Housekeeper so I suggest doing them at the same time if you are going for the completion.

  • Complete all Perfect Mode levels

Perfect Mode can be found in the menu and isn’t as daunting as it sounds. You simply have to skewer the fish on your first anchor or you have to restart. There are 25 levels here but since there are no star requirements, you can just skip levels with and complete the final level to pop this trophy.

  • Collect 10 gold stars

There are 75 stars available in both Waspfish and Housekeeper, for a grand total of 150. Earn 10 cumulative stars in either set of levels to earn this.

  • Collect 30 gold stars

There are 75 stars available in both Waspfish and Housekeeper, for a grand total of 150. Earn 30 cumulative stars in either set of levels to earn this.

  • Collect 50 gold stars

There are 75 stars available in both Waspfish and Housekeeper, for a grand total of 150. Earn 50 cumulative stars in either set of levels to earn this.

  • Collect 100 gold stars

There are 75 stars available in both Waspfish and Housekeeper, for a grand total of 150. Earn 100 cumulative stars in either set of levels to earn this.

  • Collect all the stars in the Waspfish levels

There are 75 stars in Waspfish that you must collect for this trophy. Most of the levels here are easy and straightforward so you shouldn't have any issues. If you need to know what the level requirements are, make sure to check the right-side of the screen before dropping anchor. All coins are required for that star but the other two requirements for knots (every time you stop and go again) and time are very lenient. Don't forget that you can make multiple runs at each level and get the stars on separate runs. Use this to your advantage and the trophy will pop once you’ve got them all.

  • Collect all the stars in the Housekeeper levels

There are 75 stars in Waspfish that you must collect for this trophy. Some of these levels can get daunting with the introduction of green knots and jellyfish that can eat your coins if you aren’t fast enough. If you need to know what the level requirements are, make sure to check the right-side of the screen before dropping anchor. All coins are required for that star but the other two requirements for knots (every time you stop and go again) and time are very lenient. Don't forget that you can make multiple runs at each level and get the stars on separate runs. Use this to your advantage and the trophy will pop once you've got them all. I had to make several reruns of the last few levels before I got the hang of them, and going for coins before trying a timed run saved me a lot of frustration.

  • Pass through 4 rocks with the red anchor

A couple of levels into Waspfish, you will be introduced to the red anchor. This allows you to travel through solid objects for 10 units of movement. This is a cumulative trophy, meaning you do not have to travel through four consecutive walls in one go. That means this will come with natural progression of the levels or you can just skewer through the first four walls you see if you desire.

  • Destroy 2 eels with the red anchor

There are a few opportunities to nab this, but the easiest choice is level 13 of Waspfish. There is a red anchor directly in front of two eels trying to bite you. Lower down to collect the red anchor, wait for the eels to bite and skewer them both in one go. If you miss, restart the level with until you get it.

  • Complete 5 levels within the time set

For this trophy, simply complete five levels with a star in the time category. All levels have lenient time restraints and you will get this while going for all stars.

  • Complete 5 levels using the given number of knots or less

For this trophy, simply complete five levels with a star in the knot category. All levels have lenient knot restraints as well, as long as you aren’t stopping every few inches.

  • Complete 5 levels collecting all the coins

For this trophy, simply complete five levels with a star in the coin category. This means you must collect all the coins in a level before skewering your fish or snail. You will get this while going for the rest of the trophies.

  • Catch the fish while being attacked by jellyfish

Jellyfish are introduced during the Housekeeper levels. Large jellyfish are slow and eat your coins, while small jellyfish are fast but do not eat your coins. I earned this on the 10th level of Housekeeper. I am unsure if this can pop anywhere else but I got it by skewering the snail right before the jellyfish reached me.

  • Earn 100,000 points

For each level, you get a score based on how many stars you earned. You will also get a 2x bonus if there was treasure available on that level. Each set of levels has its own score thresholds, but you must back out to the main menu to see them. I didn't have to go out of my way for this trophy. I scored 100,000 on both Waspfish and Housekeeper without trying. If you are finding yourself behind on points, try replaying levels that have treasure in them and get all three stars in a single run. This will max your points for that level, then keep repeating until your score is high enough.

  • Read all the scrolls

Scrolls are tutorials that pop up at random when a new power up or mechanic is introduced. You cannot skip reading them, thus the trophy will pop naturally if you play all of the levels. The final scroll is somewhere around the 15th or 16th level of Housekeeper.

  • Complete 2 consecutive levels with 3 stars

This is another free trophy that will come as you play the game. I got this by completing the very easy Waspfish 1-1 and 1-2 levels back to back, earning three stars each time.
