Introduction:

BLEED is a 2D platform shooter title in an old school mashup of many different classic games with some newer elements added in as well. You play a girl who wants to become the next great hero in the world and figures the best way to so is to defeat all the previous heroes of the world. She's not the only one who has the same idea, as someone else is trying to beat you to it and will do anything to stop you from achieving your goal. It is a very fun title that will definitely test your skills.

Trophy-wise, all of them are for beating the game in the different difficulties, the bosses with a certain grade and some secret stage related ones. Some of them are on the easier side, but I believe that some of them give the game the true meaning of what a 10/10 difficulty is, mainly in the arcade mode ones.

General Gameplay Information/Tips:

General Fighting/Upgrade Tips - One of the main things you are going to want to do early on during your play is upgrade your health & your energy for your bullet time (this is what I call the slowing down function in the game and refer to it as this throughout the entire guide). Also pick up the Turbo Charger as well as this will be a big boost to you for some later challenges. Bullet time in general is going to be your best friend in the game and you will want to master it as soon as you can as it will help you get out of sticky situations and also do extra damage to enemies by slowing everything down for you. Jump dashing is the other thing that is a big part, especially when combined with the bullet time as you can weave between tight attacks and get away from things you normally would not be able to normally.

Weapon wise you can pick them up whenever as I really only used the default duel pistols for most the game to begin with and rarely used the secondary weapon. The shotgun and laser rifle are nice ones to have if you want to pick one up as the shotgun does heavier damage when upclose and the laser rifle will pass through shields of certain enemies (but it is harder to hit with as you have to be more precise). After beating the game on Easy Mode you unlock the homing missles and the normal duel pistols and them became my normal layout for weapons for 90% of the game. You can switch your weapons at anytime pausing the game with the button and selecting to change weapons.

Story Mode - Story mode is the main part of the game. There are 4 different difficulties with the main differences between them being the addition of extra enemies, slightly more difficult versions of them & the speed at which the mini-bosses/bosses attack and the intensity of their attacks (IE more rockets, lasers, etc). The nice thing about story mode is that there are checkpoints throughout the stages and you have unlimited, so you can always keep trying until you beat it.

Since you have to defeat the game on all 4 difficulty levels, I'd suggest playing on easy the first time through to get a feel for the game. Once you beat it on easy, you can go back and play the stages on whatever difficulty you wish at whatever time you want (they do not need to be beat in order, just all finished in one difficulty in the end for their respectful trophies), so if there is a stage you are struggling on in one difficulty, you can just move to the next one and come back to that one later.

Arcade Mode - Arcade Mode is basically story mode, but instead of exiting out between stages, you just start the next one immediately until you beat the game, but your health does not recharge between stages and you only get ONE life to complete them all. The best advice I can give to you for this is that I would complete all the stages on every difficulty in Story Mode first to prepare yourself for this one. If there is a stage you are struggling on, then keep replaying it until it's not as much an issue anymore. I would highly advise having a full bullet time gauge & the turbo booster before even attempting it as that is going to help you out a lot in avoiding damage all around.

S-Ranking Mini-Bosses/Bosses - You can view your current ranking in the upper right corner of the screen. To get an S-Ranking on a mini-boss/boss, you must alternate your attacks and use your dashing/bullet time to gain style points. The easiest way to attack with one weapon for a little bit, then switch to another for some more damage and then repeat the process while using your dashing/bullet time to avoid attacks. If you get hit during the battle, your ranking will go down, sometimes all the way to nothing meaning you will have to build it back up again (and depending on the point in the battle, it might not be possible if the enemy is too low on health).

When going for the S-Rankings, it is advisable to play the game on easy mode so that there attacks are easier to avoid and they are generally easier to defeat as well. You MUST get S-Rank while playing in Story Mode or Arcade Mode only. Challenge Mode will not unlock the trophies for you, but it is a good place to practice against certain mini-bosses/bosses. Another good tip for getting the S-Rankings is to max out your bullet time gauge and get the turbo charger.

Walkthrough:

Step 1 - Play through Story Mode On Easy

Select Story Mode from the main menu and playthrough the entire game on Easy difficulty. During this run you will want to just be getting a feel for the game, controls, stage layouts and bosses. Feel free to go after any of the S-Ranked Boss, Secret or Miscellaneous trophies during this run if you wish.

By the end of this step you will have obtained:

  • Story Clear: Easy

Step 2 - Play through Story Mode on Normal, Hard and Very Hard

Now that you have a taste of the game, it's time to play through it on the harder difficulties. Unfortunately, you have to play through it on each of the other difficulties as they do not stack if you beat one higher. You do not have to beat the stages in order, so if you are struggling with one stage in a difficulty, you can move on to the next and come back to it later as the trophies will pop once you have beaten each stage on said difficulty overall. You can also attempt any of the other trophies mentioned in the first step.

By the end of this step you will have obtained:

  • Story Clear: Normal
  • Story Clear: Hard
  • Story Clear: Very Hard

Step 3 - Beat Three Bosses At Once In Challenge Mode

Since you've battled all the bosses four times at increasingly difficult levels, now is the time to try to beat three of them at once. Thankfully you can take on their easy counterparts to make this easier on yourself as it's going to be tough taking out three at a time as it is. My suggestion is to fight three Gubbys as it seems to be the easiest battle.

This step will get you:

  • Challenge Mode Champion

Step 4 - Clean Up Any Remaining Trophies Outside Of The Arcade Related Ones

Now is the time to go after all those extra trophies I mentioned in Step 1 if you are missing them. Play through all the different stages again and make sure to get S-Ranks on all the mini-bosses and bosses, as well as all the secrets you need to accomplish in each one. Also make sure to find the pit in The Blob's stage, listen to poetry in The Idiot stage and reflect a reflected bullet while fighting The Rival.

By the end of this step you will have obtained:

  • Intrepid Explorer
  • Quiet Contemplation
  • Excessively Stylish
  • S-Rank: Battalion
  • S-Rank: Bubble Core
  • S-Rank: Bunny Rockette
  • S-Rank: Chopper Core
  • S-Rank: Dragon Heart
  • S-Rank: Gibby & Stu
  • S-Rank: Guppy
  • S-Rank: Laser Bots
  • S-Rank: Mantis Core
  • S-Rank: Mirror Core
  • S-Rank: Rival
  • S-Rank: Spider Core
  • S-Rank: White Mk II
  • Secret Mission 01: Gate Crasher
  • Secret Mission 02: Anti-Omelette
  • Secret Mission 03: Lil' Mama
  • Secret Mission 04: Speed Demon
  • Secret Mission 05: Preferred Polarity
  • Secret Mission 06: Clean Shoes
  • Secret Mission 07: Perfect Pacifist

Step 5 - Play through Arcade Mode On Easy, Normal, Hard and Very Hard

Arcade Mode is the entire game played straight through with no breaks in between stages, no health recovery at all and with only one life. That's right, you have to beat the entire game without dying on all four difficulties. Good luck. These are the trophies that makes this game insanely difficult.

By the end of this step you will have obtained:

  • Arcade Clear: Easy
  • Arcade Clear: Normal
  • Arcade Clear: Hard
  • Arcade Clear: Very Hard
  • Platinum

  • Win a Challenge Mode fight against 3 opponents.

In Challenge Mode, you choose the boss (or bosses) you wish to battle against. You unlock the bosses by playing through the game on Story Mode and beating them in that. For this trophy, you need to select 3 bosses to fight against at once and defeat them all. This can be very tricky as there is a lot going on for you pay attention to with 3 bosses doing something. My suggestion is to select Guppy for all 3 bosses and fight against them on EASY mode so they do minimal attacks and they are semi-easier to avoid. A full bullet time gauge with turbo charge power-up is highly recommended as well so that you can have maximum time to use to avoid sticky situations and not take damage. Once you pick whichever 3 bosses you want to go against and beat them all, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Investigate the pit in Guppy's Manor.

Right after your fight with the Chopper Core mini-boss, progress to the right and fall down the first hole you come across. Once you reach the bottom, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Recite some poetry atop the Hall of Heroes.

After you make it through the first section of the Hall Of Heroes, you will take an elevator to the roof. Exit the elevator and then proceed to jump to the roof area above where the elevator is and walk around up there until you trigger the text box. After you do that, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Reflect a bullet that was reflected by the Rival.

You will need the katana weapon for this trophy, so make sure to purchase it from the store in Story Mode. Once you have it, make your way to the Rival boss fight and then equip a weapon (I used homing missiles so I didn't have to be as exact on hitting him) and the katana.

While fighting him he will eventually switch to his sword and start slashing quickly across the screen and jumping around. Keep firing at him while and when the bullets/missiles get close to him, go into bullet mode and switch to the katana to wait for him to reflect a bullet back at you, then slash at it to reflect it back at him. If he doesn't reflect the bullet or he gets too close, exit out of bullet time and try again.

This one will take some timing and practice to get down, plus he doesn't always use his sword right away, so just keep trying until you get it to work. Once you do, the trophy will pop.

  • Defeat Battalion with an S-Rank.

Battalion is the boss for the Army stage and is basically a bunch of blobs that come together to create different things that it uses to attack you. He has 4 main attacks that you need to watch out for and they are as follows:

Bomb Attack: Battalion will transform into a giant bomb and then will explode sending smaller blobs in a scatter pattern in all directions. The higher the difficulty you are playing, the more blobs in a more scattered pattern, as well as the faster they are. Use bullet time and jump dash to maneuver through them. His main portion will remain in the middle of the explosion area in a blast design and this is where you need to attack in order to do damage to him.

Shark Attack: Battalion turns into a shark and dives into the ground causing a splash of blobs that move in an arching pattern to both sides of where he went in at that you must avoid. Keep moving as he will try to jump up from below where you are to hit you. When he does jump up and reappear, he will also cause another splash of orbs that react the same as when he dove down. The higher the difficulty, the more blobs per splash and the faster both they and the shark move. His shark body is where he is vulnerable.

Fist Attack: Battalion turns into a giant fist which he will then use to thrust towards the wall on whichever side of him you are at that time. When he hits the wall, he causes a splash of blobs to come out in an arching pattern while the fist retracts away from the wall a little as well. You must jump dash over the hand try to get further away from the wall to also avoid the blob splash afterwards. The higher the difficulty, the more blobs during the splash and the fist moves much faster without much warning. The fist itself is the area where you want to attack.

Rocket-ship Attack: Battalion will turn into a rocket-ship and begin to fly towards you while leaving blobs behind it as it goes. You must jump dash over and around it while trying not to his any of the blobs it leaves behind. Using bullet time to slow things down here really helps as the rocket moves fairly quickly even on the lowest of settings and very fast on the highest. The rocket-ship itself is where you are going to want to aim your attacks.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat the Bubble Core with an S-Rank.

Bubble Core is a mid-boss in The Dragon stage. The Bubble Core itself is the main thing that you want to attack during the fight to do damage regardless of what attack it is doing. The Bubble Core has 3 attacks that are as follows:

Bubble Lasers: This is the most common attack as it uses it throughout the entire battle. As it moves around the screen it releases bubbles that after a short period of time turn into small lasers that fire towards you. You can shoot the bubbles to destroy them before they turn into lasers. Just move around and use jump dash to avoid them as well as bullet time if needed to get away from a dense firing of them. As the difficulty goes up, the more bubbles appear at a time and the faster they turn into the small lasers and move towards you.

Room Bounce: During this time, the Bubble Core will begin to move faster around the screen by bouncing around it in a from top to bottom in a random pattern while releasing a larger amount of bubble lasers as it does so. During this attack, while you have to watch out from getting hit from him (moving back and forth out of his path), your focus should be more so on the bubble lasers as with the increased amount he releases, you will have a larger amount to avoid and alot of the time they are very dense attacks with little to no room to avoid them. With a higher difficulty, his movement speeds increase a lot.

Room Roll: This one is just like the Diamond Bounce, only instead this time he goes to one wall and starts rolling around the entire room, all the while still releasing large numbers of bubble lasers. Again, while you need to watch him to not get hit (jump dash over him when he's on the ground), you need to watch out for the bubble lasers as well as they are in increased numbers. Like the previous attack, his movements increase with the increase in difficulty.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat Bunny Rockette with an S-Rank.

Bunny Rockette is the boss of the stage The Racer. She is the target you need to aim for to do damage as her bunny vehicle doesn't take damage. Bullet time works wonders against her as she is extremely fast and this will slow her down enough to focus on getting some shots in. It's best to wait until she appears after finishing up one of her attacks to use it as she usually stops for a quick second or two, so that will prolong it even more to get more shots off. She has 4 attacks that you need to watch out for that are as follows:

Teleport Orb Attack: This is her most common attack and she does it pretty much each time in between her other ones. She will dash around the screen extremely quick to different points, releasing a small energy ball at each that moves towards you. She then quickly repeats that attack twice more afterwards. During this attack, it's best to mainly just focus on avoiding the attacks as she moves extremely fast and is very hard to land clean shots on. Use bullet time if you need extra time to avoid them. With increased difficulty comes more orbs and faster movements.

Bunny Vehicle Smash: Bunny Rockette will leave the screen and then drop down on one of the sides in her bunny vehicle and then rush towards you to hit you. You just need to jump dash over the vehicle so it doesn't hit you. You have less time to react as it falls and then dashes quicker on higher difficulties.

Superman Orb Attack: This one is similar to her normal one, only she flies back and forth across the screen at different spots while firing orbs at you as she goes. You will have to watch out not only for the orbs but for her as well as she will fly across low enough to hit you at times as well. Increased orbs and speed of her and her orbs and at higher difficulties.

Large Orb Attack: She will move to one side of the screen and then fire off a set of larger energy balls in a random downward arc movement towards you. You just have to run away from them or jump dash over/through them if needed. As the difficulty goes up, they move faster and also when they hit the ground they send out smaller orbs to the left and right across the ground.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish her off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat the Chopper Core with an S-Rank.

The Chopper Core is a mid-boss in The Blob's stage. The Chopper itself is what you are going to be aiming for to do damage to it and can be hit at any time except when it is moving across the background firing out missiles at you. It has 4 attacks that are as follows:

Solo Rocket Attacks: This is it's normal attack while it's on screen as it will fire off a few single rockets at you in between it's other attacks. You can either shoot them or jump dash over/run under them to avoid. As the difficulty raises, he shoots them faster and at a higher rate.

Machine Gun Attack: Chopper Core will stop firing rockets and position itself like it's aiming at you before firing off a stream of machine gun bullets while following you wherever you go. You must time yourself properly and jump dash up in the air repeatedly until it stops firing and you avoided all the bullets. With the higher difficulty, his firing movement after you is much faster and the duration of the firing is longer, so will require bullet time to avoid the attack fully.

Chopper Blade Attack: After Chopper Core finishes firing off a set of solo rockets, it will face the nose of the chopper downwards with the blades facing you more and then dash across the screen trying to hit you. You must jump dash over the top of him to avoid the attack. Higher difficulties gives you less time to react as the setup and speed of the dash increase significantly so bullet time is highly recommended to avoid.

Multi-Rocket Attack: Chopper Core will leave the screen and appear in the background as it moves across the screen firing off a series of rockets into the air that and on the ground around you in a sweeping motion. You must shoot them down before they hit the ground (requires bullet time at higher difficulties), standing between where rockets are landing or jump dash between them in order to not get hit. As the difficultly rises, the number of rockets and the speed at which they move increases leaving little to no room to avoid them requiring you to use jump dash to go between them before they hit the ground (bullet time works wonders).

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat the Dragon Heart with an S-Rank.

The Dragon Heart is the boss at the end of the stage The Dragon. The heart at the top middle of the screen is what you want to attack as it can be damaged at any time regardless of the ongoing attack. He has 3 attacks plus an additional level hazard to watch for and they are all as follows:

Spiked Walls/Floor: This isn't an attack in the true meaning, but it does cause havoc during the fight. As you start the fight you'll see that there are spiked walls on either side of you at the furthest ends of the stage. As the fight progresses, these walls will move in about 2/3 of the way, cutting down your movable room to barely anything. Thankfully you can shoot them to knock them back further and give yourself more room. The duel pistol is the best weapon to this as well as it shoots the fastest and moves them back quickly (especially if pair with bullet time). The other hazard is the floor itself as it moves at random times from side to side meaning you have to keep an eye on your position as you might think you're safe to avoid an attack only to be pulled right into it's path by the floor. At the higher levels of difficulties, the amount of times the walls comes in and the floor moves increases.

Energy Balls: There are four ventricles on the top of the screen along with the heart, two on the left and two on the right. They will move back and forth and release small energy balls that randomly drift down towards you. To avoid them you need to move back and forth and jump dash around and through them (bullet time is very helpful). The higher the difficulty, the more energy balls they release and the faster they fall.

Blob Enemies: Every so often the blob enemies you encountered during the stage will appear and come after you. You will have both the normal purple ones that just pop when you shoot them and also the brown ones that shoot out energy balls when you shoot them. Take them out as soon as you see them so they don't become a headache later on during another attack, but make sure to avoid the energy balls. At the higher difficulties, there are more brown blobs that appear on screen.

Bouncing Solid Blobs: Solid blobs will fall from the ceiling and begin bouncing at different heights across the screen towards you. You just need to avoid them by jump dashing over or under them. At the higher difficulties, they move faster and the bounce patterns are a little harder.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat Gibby & Stu with an S-Rank.

Gibby & Stu are the bosses for the stage The Worms. Either one of their bodies is your target for this boss as hitting either one will cause damage from their health bar at the bottom. They have 4 different attacks you need to watch out for and are as follows:

Arcing Jump/Energy Ball Attack: This is their normal attack and they usually do it in between each of their other ones. They take turns jumping out of someplace on one side of the screen in an arcing motion landing somewhere else whether that be off screen of could be right in the middle of the ground you stand on, it's completely random and dependent on the arc of their jump. In addition to doing the jump, while they are in the air they fire a small energy ball at you at the same time. They each jump over a few times before moving on to another attack. To avoid this attack you must not only avoid them where they are landing, but also the energy ball which can be a pain since the landing points are so randomized. Move back and forth to avoid what you can and jump dash if you need to get away quickly (along with bullet time to help). In the higher difficulties they move faster, shoot more energy balls and jump across more often normally.

Trap Energy Ball Attack: Gibby & Stu will pop up on either side of you and start alternating firing an energy ball at you. You just need to run and jump dash around and over the balls to avoid them. At the higher difficulties, they fire more balls that move faster, as well as start moving in towards you to narrow the room you have to move during the attack.

Arching Constant Energy Ball Attack: One of the two will jump from one side of the screen and arch across it while shooting a constant stream of energy balls under it as it goes across. There are two ways to avoid this attack. The first it to get airborne before they get too far on to the screen and jump dash over them completely. The second is where you use bullet time to jump dash between two shots if you can (it's not easy, but it's the more common of the two ways you'll probably have to avoid this attack). On the higher difficulties, they move faster and at the highest ones both of them pop out (on on each side) and do the attack, making it extremely tough to dodge at all.

Single Pop-up Energy Ball Attack: One of the two will pop out of the ground somewhere in the area and fire an energy ball at you before descending underground again. They will then pop up again (normally where you are standing) and repeat the attack. He will repeat this again once to a few more times. Just keep moving and jump dashing to avoid the energy ball and to keep from getting caught when he pops out from the ground. The amount of energy balls fired and how fast he moves increases extremely at the higher difficulties.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat Guppy with an S-Rank.

Guppy is the boss of the stage The Blob. His body/bodies are your main aim for attack and what does damage to him regardless of the attack he is doing. Guppy is a little different as he 3 different forms with some similar attacks. Those forms are as follows:

Whole Large Blob: This how Guppy starts out the battle, in one large blob form. While in this form he will release small winged blobs (like the enemies in the stage), shoot a stream of solid blobs at you and also try to crush you by quickly trying to drop on you. Just kill the small winged blobs as they appear as they can be a nusaunce if they get into a larger number. When he's about to shoot the stream of solid blobs, he will stop and make a noise before firing, so start moving when he does that to avoid the attack. When he's about to try to smash you, he will stop and turn red and then quickly move over you and then down. Use your bullet time to run underneath him to draw him down and then out of the way to avoid being hit. When he does hit the ground with that attack, he will release a few winged blobs as well. With the increase in difficulty, his movements and the amount of winged blobs he releases increases.

Four Medium Blobs: After Guppy takes enough damage, he will split into four medium sized blobs. These blobs will constantly follow you around the room while firing off solid blobs at you randomly. You must avoid the blobs they fire at you as they can not be shot and can actually block your shots from landing on them. Keep moving from one side to the other while jump dashing over/between them to keep them moving and away from you as you attack them. Speed of their and the solid blobs movement is the main increase with the raise in difficulty.

Small Winged Blobs: After you do enough damage to one of the medium blobs, they will break into six winged blobs that are exactly like the ones the large one released at you earlier. You just need to avoid getting hit by them as you attack them to take them out. You will need to reduce all 4 medium blobs into the smaller ones and destroy them all. Their movement speed is greatly increased with the higher difficulties.

If you having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat the Laser Bots with an S-Rank.

The Laser Bots are a mid-boss in the Army stage. The mini-boss consists of 3 large spheres that move around the room and shoot lasers out between them. The orbs themselves are what you are going to be aiming for at all times as they are what takes damage for the boss, regardless of what position or attack they are doing. They have 5 different attacks that you need to avoid and they are as follows:

3 Corner Laser Attack: This is the Laser Bots' main attack. During this one, the speres move into 3 different corners of the room and then fire lasers between them in a random pattern that shows up right before they do it. The harder the difficulty, the less time you have to react to the pattern and get out of the way of it. Using bullet time during after they stop in their corners will give you a little extra time to avoid the attack, especially on the V.HARD mode. They do this attack 3 times before moving on to another type.

Solo Triangle Attack: For this attack, the spheres form a triangle like pattern in the middle top part of the screen with the brown/red sphere on top and the blue ones on either side of it to it's lower left/right. The top one then fires a laser back and forth across the floor in a sweeping motion with the safe places being behind the lower spheres when the laser hits them and blocks it from hitting the ground there, so that is where are going to want to stand during it.

Triple Triangle Attack (Separate): For this attack, the spheres form a tight triangle shape in the middle of the screen and each of them fire separate lasers out in a clockwise pattern around the screen with the higher the difficulty meaning much faster movements and longer duration with them. The only time any of the orbs lasers are not hitting the ground somewhere in the room is when they are hitting the other orbs, so use this to your advantage to try to avoid the lasers. You will need to jump dash up and over them as well if there isn't a spot where you can avoid a laser to try to make it until they stop firing (bullet time works well her to get you started as well).

Triple Triangle Attack (Combined): This attack is similar to the last one, except they each fire a laser outwards in a triangle pattern and then all the spheres move in a counter clockwise manner around the screen, meaning there is always 3 lasers rotating around the screen at the same time in the same direction. As before, the higher the difficulty, the faster and longer they spin. You must follow along in front of whichever laser is closet to you and keep jump dashing when can't avoid it on the floor anymore until it finishes the attack (again, bullet time will help with the times when you need to be in the air).

Compacting Triple Attack: For this one, the two blue spheres move into the upper corners of the room and start firing a continuous laser each in their respected corners, but then begin to slowly move them towards the center of the room. The red/brown sphere goes to the top of the room and starts firing a laser out at you in bursts wherever you are standing, so you must keep moving to avoid it all while being mindful of the side lasers moving in towards you. With the higher difficulties, the center laser bursts much faster and the side ones come in and hold for longer before it ends the attack.

  • Defeat the Mantis Core with an S-Rank.

Mantis Core is a mid-boss in the stage The Racer. His head is where you want to attack as it is the only part of him that is vulnerable to attack and take damage. He has 4 attacks that he does to you that are as follows:

Triple Energy Ball: This is his main attack and he usually does it in between his other ones. He will fire a set of 3 randomly placed energy balls down at you from his mouth and then repeat the process two more times. You need to move back and forth in between them in the spot where there is an opening. At higher levels he fires them off quicker giving you less time to react to avoiding them, so bullet time is a huge help.

Leg Attack: He will lift his left leg up (which is more of a sword to be honest) and move it over your head before thrusting down trying to impale you. He will then pick it up and do that two more times. You will take damage if you are hit by it coming down or if you run/jump into it, so make sure you move away and don't get near it. Running back and forth while using bullet time is the easiest way to avoid this attack. How fast he moves and thrusts down increases with difficulty.

Sweeping Energy Ball Attack: For this attack, he shots a huge amount of large energy balls from his mouth at the ground in a sweeping pattern from left to right. So far the only way I've found the you might be able to avoid this is to get inside the car on the left hand side so that the first few energy balls get taken out by the roof, there by missing you as well. You have to be extremely careful doing this though as he one left is in the car as well and if you touch it, it will damage you, so the window for where you have to stand is extremely tight.

Body Smash: For this attack Mantis Core will lower it's entire body and smash it into the ground. To avoid this, you must be all the to the left or right of the screen. He can not take damage while in this position (unless you have the laser) as his head is covered by his body from where you are standing. All you have to do once avoiding the initial smash is wait until he raises his body up again.

  • Defeat the Mirror Core with an S-Rank.

The Mirror Core is a mini-boss in the Army stage. It is a large mechanical ship like thing that sits on the right hand side of the screen and attacks you while you are riding on a moving platform over water. The boss itself is what you are aiming at to do damage to it at all times regardless of the attack it is doing. The Mirror Core has 5 attacks which are as follows:

Bouncing Small Laser Balls: The Mirror Core fire out a set of multiple laser balls that bounce up and down across the area at different angles as they move towards you. With the higher the difficulty, the more balls and faster they move. You just need to move back and forth and jump dash if needed to avoid them while using bullet time if they are close together and you need more precision to avoid them.

Laser Attack: The Mirror Core will fire a series of lasers at you consisting of combination of 6 top and 4 deep with a staircase effect either going up or down towards you with a small gap in the middle of them. The higher the level, the faster it fires them out at you. To avoid them, you can either go underneath them if they are fired high enough, jump dash over them if they are fired low enough or jump dash through the angled gap in the middle of them (bullet time is pretty much required for this and it is by far the most pain the butt way of doing it).

Large Energy Balls: You will recognize this attack as you had to make it through a field of them before reaching the Mirror Core. It will fire out these large energy balls at you at random heights on the screen the will make their way towards you, the more quickly and more densely as the difficulty goes up. You can shoot these energy balls to shrink them down and make it so you can either go under or over them to avoid them.

Smash Attack: Every so often after doing a series of attacks, the Mirror Core will move it's entire self all the way across the screen towards you and stop just shy of the end of the platform you are on, with the speed of how fast it moves increasing with the difficulty. You must quickly get to the back portion of the platform to avoid being hit.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

  • Defeat the Rival with an S-Rank.

The Rival is the final boss of the game and is located in the stage The Idiot. He will take damage from any shots except for any that he reflects with his sword when he has it out. He has 4 attacks that he does during the battle that are as follows:

Rockets: The Rival will jump around the area constantly while firing rockets at you. After shooting you for a little while he will fire multiple ones as you in a constant stream. You need to either shoot them to destroy them or avoid them by jumping over/running under them. As the difficulty rises, so do how fast the rockets move and how many he fires out at a time.

Energy Balls: Again, the Rival will begin running and jumping all over the stage but this time he will be firing sets of small energy balls in a random pattern towards your direction. He does this multiple times before he stops. You just need to keep moving yourself and jump dashing over and around them so you don't get hit. In the higher difficulties, the amount of energy balls he shoots each time and how fast they move towards you increases.

Sword: The Rival will pull out a sword and just start swinging away while thrusting towards you and jumping all over the place. While he has his sword out he is also able to reflect your attacks back at you, so it's best to aim at trying to avoid him as your main priority and attacking him as secondary during this phase of his attacking. His movement increases in speed in the higher difficulties.

Bomb Drop: The Rival will pull out his detonation button and call a bomb to drop in the middle of the area and explode outwards along the floor and then up both walls. All you need to do to avoid it is to stay airborne with jump dashes until after the bomb hits and the explosion clears the area. There is no noticeable difference in this attack at the higher difficulties.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat the Spider Core with an S-Rank.

The Spider Core is the mid-boss for the stage The Robot. It's entire body is your target as it will take damage regardless of the attack it is doing. The Spider Core has

Lob Bombs: This is it's most common attack and it does it almost between every other attack type. The Spider Core will lob bombs towards you in a random arcing pattern which you need to either shoot to make them explode or avoid them by moving back and forth or jump dashing around (bullet time can help make avoiding them easier as well). The amount of bombs he lobs and how fast they move increase as the difficulty does as well.

Overhead Drop Bombs: This time the Spider Core shoots a ton of bombs up into the air and they rain down on you randomly from above. You must either shoot them to make them explode or move back and forth or jump dash to avoid them. In the higher difficulties the amount of bombs and how fast they fall increases greatly and bullet time is highly suggested to at least get an idea of where they are falling to avoid them all.

Machine Gun: Spider Core will stop moving and aim the machine gun on it's underbelly down and then start firing away as it sweeps upwards on the screen. You have to either have to keep jump dashing upwards away from the blasts (with bullet time is advised) or you can use bullet time and jump dash between the bullets when they get to a level area (not as advised as this is tricky to pull off). The speed at which the gun is raised and the duration increase at higher difficulties.

Jump: Spider Core will occasionally jump from his elevator platform in to the air and over to yours to crush you. As soon as you see him starting to jump you want to immediately make your way over to the other platform by jump dashing (and using bullet time if you need extra time to get out from under him before he lands). At the higher difficulties, he moves fast as he jumps and can initiate the jump almost immediately after finishing another attack giving you less time to react.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Defeat White Mk II with an S-Rank.

White Mk II is the boss of the stage The Robot. He is a ball that has a half circle barricade that rotates around him as he moves. The ball is the only vulnerable part of him and is what you need to attack for him to take damage, hitting the barricade will do nothing (unless you are using the laser then it will hurt him as it passes through the barricade). He has 4 attacks that are as follows:

Homing Missile: This is his normal attack by releasing homing missiles at you as he moves around the screen. You can either shoot them down or try to avoid them and have them run into a wall/floor to explode. The speed they move and how many he releases increases with the difficulty.

Multiple Homing Missile: White will stop moving around and move his barricade shield aimed at you before releasing multiple homing missiles at you. Again, either shoot at them or avoid them and let them blow up on a wall/floor. The amount of missiles and the speed they come after you increases with the difficulty.

Roll Attack: White will drop to the ground and start rolling towards one of the walls before going up it and then arcing back towards the ground in the opposite direction to roll across the ground the rest of the way to the other wall where he climbs it before returning to the air. You must air dash over him before he reaches the wall and then repeat when he's coming back the other way. If you wait to long or try to when he's going up the wall, you are more than likely going to get hit, so as soon as you see him going for it, get over him and prepare to move again. How fast he moves during this attack increases greatly with the difficultly.

Barricade Throw: White will stop in the air and start spinning his barricade shield around quickly before launching it in your direction. He will then hover where he was for a short period before moving back into the shield wherever it is and release homing missiles as he is back inside. On the higher difficulties, the shield shoots out additional homing missiles while it's spinning after being thrown out. The shield itself is easy enough to avoid by just running away or jumping over and is a prime time to attack White as there is nothing guarding him giving you free shots.

If you are having problems getting an S-Rank on the boss, see the Roadmap for tips on how to achieve them in general. Once you finish him off and have an S-Rank when doing so, the trophy will pop.

Secret trophies

  • Completely trash Guppy's Manor.

As you play through Guppy's stage, you will see chandeliers hanging all over the place. For this trophy, you must destroy all of them by shooting them. Just run through the stage and make sure to take them all out. As soon as you reach the outside section with the helicopter, the trophy will pop if you have destroyed them all.

    Video Guide

  • Don't break any egg's in the Earth's core.

After the beginning part of the stage where you are riding down the drill platform, you will fall into a cavern area of the stage. On the ground you will see numerous white eggs scattered all over the place. You must make it through this entire section of the stage without breaking a single one by shooting it or anything. Try to move as fast as you can through the stage jumping and keeping your fire aimed upwards away from the ground and only at enemies and falling rocks. When you land, stop firing until you jump again to progress forward. Bullet time is your friend in this section when there is a ton of rocks and enemies around so you can focus on what you are doing.

If you are struggling with this one, wait until you have upgraded both your health and energy bar more so you have more leeway. Once you get to the boss without breaking any of the eggs in the stage, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Don't trip any lasers in the Hi-Security Complex.

Throughout the first part of the stage, you will come across a bunch of security lasers, some which move and others that are stationary. You must avoid all of them during this section until you reach the platform that raises you up out of that area. For the moving lasers, use the stage as cover and bullet time to slow them down to make it from cover to cover. The stationary ones are primarily in upward platforming sections. For these, try to destroy all the enemies before moving up so you only have to focus on one thing as you ascend. Use bullet time to help make your jumps more precise to land on platforms. Once you reach the end of that section and raise up on the platform, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

NOTE: For some reason the lasers in the video disappear at times. I do not know why they do this as they are still there in the game, so just watch my movements in areas where there doesn't look there are any as there more than likely are if I am avoiding them (Plus you will see them when you are playing as well).

  • Reach and defeat Bunny Rockette in 3 minutes.

This one is all about speed, but thankfully it seems that your time resets in a section once you die (I died 3-4 times in the stage and still got the trophy). Move as quickly through the stage as you can, ignoring enemies as much as possible and taking out the ones you need to until you reach the mid-boss. Keep firing away at him while avoiding his attacks to take him out quickly and then advance forward through the next section quickly as well, avoiding Bunny Rockette's energy ball attacks. When you get to the boss battle with her, use bullet time as much as possible to slow her down and be able to unload a ton of shots into her. Once you defeat her within the 3 minutes, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Only fight one color of blob in the underground Lab.

In the first two sections of the stage, you will encounter blue and red face blobs that appear out of nowhere and move towards you. For this trophy you want to only hit blue ones and not the red ones. The very beginning is the only area where you really need to try killing them while waiting for the door to open, so be very careful to only hit blue ones and stop firing all together when a red appears (this can be tricky as they can appear from off screen and then come at you so you have no warning). In the second half, just try to run through the area as quick as possible using your jump dash & bullet time to avoid damage and only use your bullets if absolutely needed on blue enemies. Once you make it through to the area with the Laser Bots without hitting any red blobs, the trophy will pop.

    Video Guide

  • Don't step on the regenerating blocks in the Dragon's stomach.

During the second part of the stage, you will come across some blocks in your path that you can shoot and they will disappear so you can advance, but will reappear a short moment later. You must make it past these blocks without stepping on any of them in four sections of this part, each one with an increasingly difficult challenge to do that. Bullet time & jump dash are required to complete this, so I'd max out your energy gauge to give you maximum time to use to get through them. Here is how to get through each area of them:

First Section: Very straight forward and simple as it just a bunch of blocks on a level ground area and they regenerate slowly. Just shoot your path through and head to the other side. The only tricky part about this section is that there is a row of blocks that the tops of them are just slightly above the ground level, so make sure that you destroy those ones as well as you will just walk right over them without really noticing if you don't.

Second Section: This one is a little trickier as it starts out on a level ground, but then drops down to another level with blocks filling the entire area, plus they regenerate a little faster than the last batch. Start out by making a path on the top level and then run through it shooting down to the lower one to make an open area to land in before taking out the rest of the block to make it through. Using bullet time to slow yourself down so you can take out some of the lower level blocks as you fall is a good idea and can only help so use it if you are struggling.

Third Section: This one is sort of the reverse of the last one as it starts out lower and goes up a level, but with the added difficulty of there being no real non-block ground in between the start and end of it and the blocks regenerate faster as well. The easiest way to do this is to blast a nice sized section of blocks out of the way in a diagonal direction, start bullet time and keep jump dashing towards the other side while firing and making a path for you to get through.

Fourth Section: This one is actually a little easier than the last one with the main tricky issue being how fast the blocks regenerate. This one there is a ton of blocks filling a vertical climbing area with a single ledge on the left hand side. Start out by shooting out a ton of blocks heading upwards, then jump dash up and start bullet time while shooting at the blocks on that ledge so you can land on it without touching any of the blocks on it. Once you land on it, immediately begin shooting upwards towards the end and jump dash towards it using bullet time if you are able.

Once you make it through that fourth area, head to the next part of the stage and if you didn't step on any blocks, the trophy will pop!

    Video Guide

NOTE: If you think you made it through without touching any blocks and the trophy didn't pop, this doesn't mean it is glitched, it means that you might've clipped a block or possibly got one of those slightly above ground ones while you were going through. I thought it was glitched but went back and watched the run and those are the things that kept happening to me, so just keep trying and eventually you will get the hang of it and make it through.

  • Do no damage and take no damage in the Hall of Heroes.

This one is a fun one as it's so simplistic for the majority of it and yet so frustrating and difficult at the same time. For this trophy you must make it through all 5 floors of the Hall of Heroes without doing any damage to any enemy, nor taking any damage as well. Bullet time and jump dash are absolutely required, so again, make sure you have your gauge maxed out and also the double refill boost as well. Here is how to get through the 5 floors:

Floor 1: The biggest pain in the butt for this floor is the cats as they are unpredictable in how they jump and can mess up a run very easily if you misjudge where they are going to go. Use your bullet time and jump dash in little bursts to jump over them and to go around any projectiles/flying enemies. Once you get to the second part of the floor, as long as you didn't use a ton of energy in the first part, you should be able to just stay in bullet time and jump dash through the room to the elevator on the other side

Floor 2: The biggest pain in this one is the floor larvae as they hard to avoid normally since they can hit you just by running into you. Once you get up to this floor, wait in the elevator until you gauge refills and then run out into the first section and as soon as you see the enemies, start your bullet time and jump dash between the flying and ground larvae and then land on the other side of them and stop bullet time. Run into the next section and repeat the same steps to get between the next set. Once past them, go into the second part of the floor and just dash through it while using your bullet time to get to the elevator (you should have more than enough to get there). Just watch out because occasionally the larva fire a stray shot that can hit you in the elevator if you're not paying attention.

Floor 3: This one can be a serious pain depending on where the enemy placements are in each area as they seem to move and can sometimes give you a very poor path through them. The other headache is that enemies start coming at you as soon as you reach the floor so you don't have a lot of time to let your gauge refill this time. Move into the first section of the floor and bullet time and jump dash past him before he can shoot at you and land on the other side (but be careful because sometimes he will shoot and it will head right at where you are at). As soon as you get to the next part, bullet time and jump dash through the enemies as quickly as possible to get to the other side. Enter the next area and if possible just bullet time and jump dash all the way to the other side, but be careful because the small enemies in this area can be a serious pain in the butt if they are in the way of a direct path to the elevator. Once on the elevator, again watch out for any stray laser beams that can hit you before you go up.

Floor 4: Once again, let your gauge fully refill before advancing forward. This is by far the easiest floor of them all as all you need to do is run through it, using bullet time and jump dash to get past any enemies on the ground. You really don't have to worry about much because the enemies here just stand around and take a while before even firing at you so as long as you just keep moving and getting past them, you'll have a clear and easy time getting to the elevator.

Floor 5: Here we are, the final floor and the most frustrating and difficult one. I like to refer to this one as the Mega Man floor as most of it reminds me of part of Metal Man's stage from Mega Man 2 with all the drills, plus the middle section reminds me of the floating metal things from the game as well. The first part of the floor has a ton of drills coming down from the ceiling that you must navigate through to make it to the other side. Use patience and bullet time/jump dash as needed to get through any openings that come up. Once you make it past that section into the middle area, you will immediately be attacked by a bunch of metal box like enemies that appear from 2 statues in the room. Try to jump dash/bullet time around them to a safe spot in the middle and then repeat to get through the second statues worth. Once you make it to the other side, you will come to another drill area. Use the same method as the previous one and get to the elevator on the other side.

Once you make it to the elevator and head to the roof without attacking any enemies and without being hit, the trophy will pop!
