Welcome to Blade Arcus Rebellion from Shining! Developed by Studio Saizensen and published by Sega, this game is an updated version of Blade Arcus from Shining, a fighting game based on Sega's Shining series of RPGs that was originally released in 2014 on Japanese arcades running on the Sega RingEdge 2 hardware, followed by an initial home console version released in 2015 on PS3 and PS4, dubbed Blade Arcus from Shining EX.

This version adds new features such as: online play, a feature that was mysteriously absent from the previous version of the game released; five more characters from Shining Resonance; a new mode known as Contract mode, which bares some similarities to the Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy X; and Mission mode, where players can take on a series of challenges involving certain combos.

Step 1: Story Mode

In this step, you will need to complete Story mode with all twenty one characters in the game's roster. While going for this, there are six trophies related to Sonia and the characters added in Rebellion, which you can do before or after you complete the stories of the other fifteen characters.

Upon completing this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

 ?????? (First Victory)
 ??????? (Beginning of Memories)
 ?????? (Yuma’s Memory)
 ?????? (Kirika’s Memory)
 ?????? (Sonia’s Memory)
 ?????? (Rinna’s Memory)
 ??????? (Excella’s Memory)
 ?????? (Zest’s Memory)
 ?????? (Everyone’s Memory)
 ??? (Multimillionaire)

Step 2: Arena Mode

Once you have completed Story mode, you will now move on to Arena mode. You should notice that you do not need to complete it with the game's entire roster this time around, but with only ten characters instead. There are also three difficulty options you can choose from, which will make Arena mode much easier than before.

Upon completing this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

??????? (Setting off to a Trial)
??????? (Survival and a Fearless Fighter)
 ???? (Veteran)

Step 3: Mission Mode

This step involves one of the new modes added to Rebellion. Mission mode takes a similar approach to Blade Strangers, but unlike the latter, you do not need to complete all combo challenges with all characters, as you will need to complete fifty of them instead.

Upon completing this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

 ??????? (Become a Hero)
 ??????? (Fairly a Hero)
 ?????? (Quite the Hero)

Step 4: Contract and Gallery Modes

This step involves another feature that was added in Rebellion. Contract mode features two boards, one that involves the game's roster, and another that involves the art gallery. Players can use both boards at their leisure to unlock skills, items and art gallery pieces, but keep in mind that they have their own unique trophies connected to them.

Upon completing this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

 ??????? (First Contract)
 ?????? (Evolved Weapon)
 ????? (Ultimate Weapon)
 ???? (Brightest Light)
 ???? (Appreciation of Beauty)
 ?????? (Beautifully Collected Items)

Step 5: Online Modes

Once you have completed the above steps, you will now be able to take the fight online and play matches across two online game modes: Ranked and Player. Both modes have their own sets of trophies, but the majority of them belong to ranked matches, where you will need to reach the highest rank to complete it. There is also another trophy that requires you to use an item, which is where the previous step comes in play.

Upon completing this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

 ????? (Overflowing Power)
 ??????? (Gathering of the Heroes)
 ??????? (Beginning of a Legend)
 ??? (Grown-Up)
 ??????? (Joining the Heroes)
 ????? (Joy of Victory)

Step 6: Other Misc. Trophies

Once you have completed the previous steps above, you can now move on to the clean-up phase. This is where you will clean up trophies you might have missed along the way, but keep in mind that you may have unlocked some of them throughout your path to the platinum.

Upon completing this step, you will unlock the following trophies:

 ???? (Training Start)
 ???? (Intensifying Training)
???????? (Waking of the Attack Instinct)
 ????? (Knowledge of Defense)
 ????? (Bond with Comrades)
 ???? (Power of Rejection)
 ???? (The Skill of Counterattack)
 ???? (Rised Bonds)
 ????? (Deadly Join Attack)
 ???? (Pilgrimage)
 ???? (Perfect Conquest)

  • 全てのキャラクターのストーリーをクリアした

    Everyone’s Memory
    Cleared everyone’s story

    Story-related and cannot be missed.

In order to unlock this trophy, you will need to complete Story mode with all twenty one characters in the game, which consists of the sixteen characters from the original Blade Arcus (including former DLC character Sonia), and the five new characters added in Rebellion, all of which have trophies assigned to them. The remaining characters you will need to complete story mode with after doing so with the above six characters can be found in the list below:

    1. Ryuga
    2. Pairon
    3. Sakuya (Maxima Enfield)
    4. Xiaomei (Lin Xiao-Mei)
    5. Rage Sheena
    6. Melty Du Granite
    7. Roselinde Freya
    8. Altina Mel Sylphis
    9. Isaac Saint-Germain
    10. Fenrir
    11. Misty (Mistral Nereis)
    12. Rouna Murasame
    13. Urayukihime (Hayane Fubuki)
    14. Rick Elwood
    15. Dylan Loen

This mode consists of eight matches in the traditional fashion of arcade mode found in other fighting games. For fifteen of the sixteen veterans from the original game (Sonia being the sole exception due to her being unplayable in the original game's story mode), their routes are the same as before, with each one ending with a boss fight against a stronger, shadowy version of the character you're playing as. Meanwhile, the five new characters (along with Sonia) have brand new story arcs, with each one having their own unique fights in each character's final stage, with Zest being the only exception, as he fights against himself.

To make the process of finishing Story mode faster, you will need to select "?????" (Game Settings) to change the difficulty (???) to Super Easy and the number of rounds (???????) to 1. The round timer (??????) can be changed to anything, but to make each match go by faster, you should set it to 30 seconds. Once these settings are changed, you will be able to breeze through all eight stages of Story mode with each character. You can also keep track of which characters you have completed Story mode with by going into Record in the main menu and selecting each character's page.

  • 初めてスキルを解放した

    First Contract
    Unleashed the first skill

This trophy will be unlocked upon acquiring your first skill, which will cost you 100 CP (Contract Points) in either the "??????????" (Blade Contract) or "???????????" (Gallery Contract) boards.

In addition to the contract board, there are trophies you can unlock by using skills in offline versus and items in online ranked and player matches. More information on these can be found in Victory of Light and Overflowing Power respectively.

For more information on the Contract Board, along with an efficient grinding method, please refer to Ultimate Weapon. A complete list of skills can be found in Victory of Light.

  • ブレードレベルを上昇させた

    Evolved Weapon
    Raised the Blade level

See Ultimate Weapon for more information.

  • ブレードレベルを最大まであげた

    Ultimate Weapon
Raised the Blade level until maximum

Blade Arcus Rebellion introduces a new feature known as Contract mode. The context of this mode is similar to the Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy X and allows players to acquire new skills and items as they spend their CP on leveling up each character's respective board.

There are a total of twenty two contract boards players can choose from, with twenty one of them being each character's unique boards, while the other one is for the art gallery where players can spend CP on unlocking art pieces for the game's gallery. Orbs come in two sizes, small and large, and the CP cost for each orb can go for as high as 1,800 CP and is mostly dependent on the size of the orb and the strength of the skill/item in it.

This trophy will be unlocked once you reach the maximum level for any one of the twenty one character's contract boards; it's best to save up approximately 150,000 CP since you will need to unlock gallery illustrations for Beautifully Collected Items as well, but be sure to back up your save to the PS Plus cloud or a USB drive before attempting this so you can reload it later for the gallery contract board after unlocking the trophies related to Blade Contract for the character you choose to do this with.

    Grinding Method

For grinding CP, the recommended characters to use are Rick and Isaac, but keep in mind that this requires button remapping and a turbo controller.

You will need to head to "?????" (Button Settings) from the pause menu (or by pressing  in the main menu) and change either "???" (Medium Attack; for Rick) or "???" (Strong Attack; for Isaac) to , and "???????????" (Training Restart) to  (this will prevent the player from summoning their partner during the fight). Afterwards, you will need to set the turbo function on your turbo controller to both buttons and equip the skill "?????" (Demon's Strength) to increase attack power by 8%. Having the turbo function set to  alongside  will make it to where the first character (Rick or Isaac in this case) will always be picked and the match will start faster.

  • ★のついたスキル(キャラクター専用スキル)を手に入れた

    Brightest Light
Obtained a ?-attached skill (character exclusive skill)

Once you reach level 20 with any character in their Blade Contract board, you will now be able to unlock more skills and items from it, but one particular skill that is unique to the max level is one that is completely unique to the character whose board you've completed.

These kinds of skills are marked with a "?" and cost 6,000 CP to acquire, which means that you will need to spend between 57,000 to 58,000 CP while on the level 20 board in order to unlock it.

Keep in mind that if you complete a level 20 grid without unlocking the character specific skill, you will need to start over from scratch at level 1, so be sure to back up another save to either your USB drive or PS Plus cloud, but if you already have a save with over 150,000 CP in either one of the two (such as the PS Plus cloud, for instance), then you will need to back it up to your USB device and reload your save from there to make sure you're not accidentally overwriting it to the cloud. (Credit to DPatriot for this information)

For more information on the CP grinding method, please refer to Ultimate Weapon. A list of skills (including character-specific skills) can be found in Victory of Light.

  • スキルを装備して対戦に勝利した

    Victory of Light
Equipped a skill and won a match

In Blade Arcus Rebellion, skills grant the player buffs such as increased attack power or defense, an increase to their meter (Force Gauge, Support, etc.) during the match, and an added bonus to any gauge at the first or final round of the match.

These can only be used offline and can be unlocked in Contract mode using any character's Blade Contract board or the Gallery Contract board, but thankfully all skills are available from the get-go in Versus mode.

You can equip two skills at a time, one for your main character and another for your support character. Each skill possesses a percentage rate depending on which variation you have equipped; this will determine what factors you will get, such as lower or higher attack power, how much meter you will gain, and how high your defense will be, to name a few. A list of skills can be found in the links below.

    Skills List (Japanese) (English)

You will need to equip a skill and complete a match offline, primarily in Versus mode, in order to unlock this trophy. Whichever character(s) and skill(s) you have used throughout the match does not matter when going for this. Character specific skills (skills that are marked with a star) also count towards this trophy.

  • アイテムを使用して対戦に勝利した

    Overflowing Power
Used an item and won a match

    (Online Multiplayer)

Like skills, items will also allow players to gain buffs depending on which item you have used. These grant the same properties as skills, and the time frame of the match in which the item will go into effect, as well as the strength of the item, will be determined depending on which item you have equipped. You can equip them by selecting "????" (Item) in the matchmaking screen before a player or ranked match starts.

These can only be used online and can be unlocked in Contract mode using any character's Blade Contract board or in the Gallery Contract board. It should be noted that unlike skills, you can only equip one item at a time before an online match starts, be it through either player or ranked matches. A list of items can be found in the links below.

    Item List (Japanese) (English)

You will need to equip an item and complete an online match in either player or ranked matches in order to unlock this trophy. Whichever character(s) and the item you have used throughout the match does not matter when going for this.

If you need to find a partner to boost this trophy with, be sure to head to the trophy boosting thread.

  • アリーナモードをプレイした

    Setting off to a Trial
    Played Arena mode

Simply start Arena mode for the first time in order to unlock this trophy. For more information about this mode, please refer to Veteran.

  • ネットワークモードで対戦を行った

    Gathering of the Heroes
Went to a match in network mode

    (Online Multiplayer)

Simply fight in an online versus match from start to finish in order to unlock this trophy. Whether you're playing in a player or ranked match, or if you win or lose does not matter at all when going for this trophy as it will be unlocked at the end of the match, but it should be noted that if you're playing ranked matches, you will get this naturally when going for Joining the Heroes and Grown-Up.

If you need to find a partner to boost this trophy with, be sure to head to the trophy boosting thread.

  • ランクマッチで勝利した

    Beginning of a Legend
    Won a rank match

    (Online Multiplayer)

As with most other fighting games, ranked matches allow the player to fight against other players of a similar or higher rank as they fight their way through to level their rank up and earn a place in the game's online leaderboards.

When entering the ranked match settings, you will see the following options available for you to select:

    • "??????????" (Begin Matchmaking)
    • "????????????" (Begin Training while standby)
    • "????????" (Select Character)
    • "??" (Return)

You will need to select either one of the first two options to begin the matchmaking process, but since the online isn't that populated, this can easily be boosted regardless of region and rank.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to win a ranked match for the first time in order to unlock it. You will unlock this naturally when going for Joining the Heroes and Grown-Up, since they both require you to play ranked matches. You can also unlock Overflowing Power if you choose to use an item provided that it is acquired from either the Blade or Gallery Contract boards in Contract mode.

If you need to find a partner to boost this trophy with, be sure to head to the trophy boosting thread.

  • Level E Bladerに昇格した

    Grown-Up
    Raised to Level E Blader

    (Online Multiplayer)

One of the unique features that make ranked matches stand out compared to player matches is the player's rank. This increases whenever the player wins a match and gains experience to level it up and is an essential part of the game's online leaderboards, with the higher ranked players being placed at the top, while lower ranked players are placed below them.

All players start at Cadet, and it will require 6,000 points in order to reach the rank of Level E Blader, which is approximately 30-33 wins depending on whether you choose to fight another player who has played before or is starting fresh. It should also be noted that even if you lose a match, you cannot lose points from your rank, meaning that your rank will only increase and not decrease.

You will unlock this trophy once you reach the aforementioned rank (Level E Blader) for the first time. Your characters will also gain or lose EXP depending on the outcome of the match, but in the case of this trophy, it doesn't matter.

If you need to find a partner to boost this trophy with, be sure to head to the trophy boosting thread.

  • ランクマッチで10試合行った

    Joining the Heroes
In rank match, went to 10 matches

    (Online Multiplayer)

Simply play ten ranked matches from start to finish in order to unlock this trophy. The outcome of the match, as well as which characters and the item you've used does not matter, and this trophy will unlock at the end of the tenth match in ranked.

If you need to find a partner to boost this trophy with, be sure to head to the trophy boosting thread.

  • プレイヤーマッチで勝利した

    Joy of Victory
    Won a player match

    (Online Multiplayer)

Unlike Ranked matches, player matches will allow the player to fight against others without any regard for their rank. These rooms do not have limitations set to them and players can change the number of rounds they want to fight.

When entering the player match settings, you will see the following options available for you to select:

    • "???????" (Room Search)
    • "???????" (Create Room)
    • "????????" (Select Character)
    • "??" (Return)

Afterwards, if you choose to either search or create a room, you will be greeted with the following options, but keep in mind that one of them is only available when creating a room.

    • "?????" (Number of Rounds)
    • "????" (Comment; only when creating a room)
    • "?????" (Password)

As the trophy's description says, you will need to win a player match for the first time in order to unlock it. You can also unlock Overflowing Power if you choose to use an item provided that is acquired from either the Blade or Gallery Contract boards in Contract mode.

If you need to find a partner to boost this trophy with, be sure to head to the trophy boosting thread.

  • トレーニングモードをプレイした

    Training Start
    Played Training mode

See Intensifying Training for more information.

  • トレーニングモードを1時間プレイした

    Intensifying Training
Played Training mode for 1 hour

Training mode is another common staple in fighting games. Players can use this mode to practice character moves, combos, and strategies against other characters when preparing for tournaments, local casuals, and online tournaments. There are a multitude of options for the player to use when making use of this mode.

Like Guilty Gear Xrd -SIGN-, Dengeki Bunko Fighting Climax, and Blade Strangers, you will need to spend an hour in training mode in order to unlock it, but thankfully, like the latter two, you can idle and not do anything and the trophy will still unlock regardless of what you choose to do.

  • オフェンシブフォースを10回使用した

    Waking of the Attack Instinct
    Used 10 Offensive Force

Offensive Force is a mechanic that is used for combos in certain situations, such as those that start from a throw, or to extend a grounded combo string as they rush towards the opponent with a forward attack. They can be executed by tapping  and will require at least one bar from your meter (below your support gauge) in order to use them.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to use them at least ten times in order to unlock it. In addition, you can also unlock this when going for Deadly Join Attack since that will also make use of Offensive Force to extend a combo using Rinna in Training mode.

  • ディフェンシブフォースを10回使用した

    Knowledge of Defense
    Used 10 Defensive Force

Defensive Force is the opposite of Offensive Force. This mechanic allows players to avoid attacks safely without taking damage, which makes this similar to dodge rolls from the King of Fighters, but they can only move the player away from their opponent as they defend themselves. They can be executed by tapping  or  (depending on the direction you are facing) and  and will require at least one bar from your meter (below your support gauge) in order to use them.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to use them at least ten times in order to unlock it.

  • サポート呼び出し10回使用した

    Bond with Comrades
    Used 10 support summons

Returning from the original Blade Arcus is the ability to summon support characters. These types of characters will provide assist attacks as they help the player deal additional damage, extend combos, or provide support depending on the situation of the fight. They can be executed by pressing , and if you press either , or  alongside the aforementioned button, you can use different support attacks depending on how many points are available in your support gauge.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to use them at least ten times in order to unlock it. In addition to this, you can also press  during a super attack to initiate a Link Force Attack. More information on this can be found in Rised Bonds.

  • リジェクションガードを10回使用した

    Power of Rejection
    Used 10 Rejection Guards

Rejection Guard is a mechanic that works similarly to a blowback attack found in games like The King of Fighters, Guilty Gear, and BlazBlue. This allows players to counter an opponent's attack to create distance away from them.

This is useful when you find yourself in a situation you normally can't get out of, such as being trapped in a wall for example. This can be done by tapping  and requires 50% of your AP gauge (the red gauge below your lifebar) when timing against an opponent's attack.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to use them at least ten times in order to unlock it.

  • リバーサルストライクを10回使用した

    The Skill of Counterattack
    Used 10 Reversal Strikes

Reversal Strikes are attacks that can be charged and followed up from offensive strikes to create devastating combos that deal a good amount of damage. This can be done while holding  or  (depending on which direction you are facing) and  and requires up to 100% of your AP gauge, although you can also use less than 100% when using it as a combo finisher.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to use them at least ten times in order to unlock it.

  • リンクフォースアタックを10回使用した

    Rised Bonds
    Used 10 Link Force Attacks

In addition to normal support attacks, players can also use them to create a combo finisher that combines both your main and support character's super attacks. This can be done by pressing  during a super attack (x2+ or x2+) and will require all four points from your support gauge.

As the trophy's description says, you will need to use them at least ten times in order to unlock it.

  • 10000ダメージ以上のコンボをきめた

    Deadly Join Attack
Performed a combo with 10000 damage or more

This trophy will be unlocked once you deal at least 10,000 points of damage or more against an opponent using a single combo. This can be a daunting task to do normally, but thankfully, this can also be unlocked in Training mode.

The recommended character to use for this trophy is Rinna, with Melty set as the training dummy, but before attempting this, you will need to pause the game, go to "????????" (Training Settings) and set "????????" (Counter Hit) to "ON". Once that's done, you will need to repeatedly use her  attack until her EXP gauge reaches level 3 (its max level), as this gauge is what powers up the strength of her super attacks. Once that's done, you will then need to do the following combo (Credit to MajinVenus, a visualization of this combo can also be found below)

    x2+ (until the 10th hit at least) > Jump  >  >  >  >  (repeat twice until it reaches at least 21 or 22 hits) > x2+

(Video credit also goes out to MajinVenus)

  • アートギャラリーでイラストを観覧した

    Appreciation of Beauty
Viewed an illustration in the art gallery

In Blade Arcus Rebellion, the art gallery will allow players to view gallery illustrations that are already unlocked in the Gallery Contract board in Contract mode. These illustrations are categorized by the game each one hails from, all of which can be found below.

    • Shining Tears
    • Shining Wind
    • Shining Wind FAN Festa
    • Shining Tears X (Cross) Wind
    • Shining Hearts
    • Shining Blade
    • Shining Ark
    • Shining Resonance
    • Shining Resonance Refrain
    • Blade Arcus
    • Blade Arcus Rebellion
    • ETC.

In the case of this trophy, you will need to view at least one illustration after obtaining it from the Gallery Contract board in order to unlock it. For more information about the Gallery Contract board, please refer to Beautifully Collected Items.

  • アートギャラリーのイラストをすべてそろえた

    Beautifully Collected Items
Collected all illustrations in the art gallery

This is the game's second most time consuming trophy after Ultimate Weapon due to its grindy nature as there are 222 illustrations to unlock for the art gallery.

The focus of this trophy is on the Gallery Contract board in the game's Contract mode, where gallery images are represented by large orbs and cost 600 CP each. Like Blade Contract, this board can level up to level 20, but keep in mind that later levels will contain less gallery orbs, so be sure to unlock as many as you can in earlier levels. In addition, players can also unlock skills and items from this.

In total, you will need at least 150,000 CP or more in order to unlock this trophy, so be sure to back up and/or reload your save before attempting this. Thankfully, when the board resets upon completing level 20, you can unlock whichever gallery images you were missing beforehand in any of the later gallery contract board levels, which will make this trophy less stressful compared to Brightest Light.

  • アリーナモードをいずれかのキャラクターでクリア

    Survival and a Fearless Fighter
Cleared Arena mode with any character

    See Veteran for more information.

  • アリーナモードを10キャラクタークリアした

    Veteran
Cleared Arena mode with 10 characters

In order to unlock this trophy, you will need to complete Arena mode with any ten characters from the game's roster.

Arena mode is similar to the traditional survival mode found in various fighting games such as Tekken, The King of Fighters, Street Fighter, and Under Night In-Birth, where players will find themselves fighting against twenty one (in contrast to thirty in the original) CPU-controlled opponents as they fight their way through for a record of how fast they can complete it.

As with the original Blade Arcus, the final opponent is a shadowed version of the character you are playing as, which has a completely unique fullscreen super attack that can attack the opponent regardless of their position. When this happens, you will need to guard as soon as you can to prevent it from taking up a lot of your health. In addition, there are also three difficulties to choose from, another thing that is a huge contrast from the original.

    • Easy
    • Normal
    • Hard

Thankfully, the difficulty you choose does not matter when going for this trophy, so you can choose Easy and win all twenty one rounds with whichever ten characters of your choice until you unlock this trophy. You can also keep track of which characters you have completed this mode with by going into Record in the main menu and selecting the characters of your choice.

  • ミッションを1個クリアした

    Become a Hero
    Cleared 1 mission

See Quite the Hero for more information.

  • ミッションを10個クリアした

    Fairly a Hero
    Cleared 10 missions

See Quite the Hero for more information.

  • ミッションを50個クリアした

    Quite the Hero
    Cleared 50 missions

In order to unlock this trophy, you will need to complete 50 different missions in the game's Mission mode. This mode allows players to take on a series of combo challenges that range from beginner (first challenge) to advanced (fifth challenge), which can also teach players about which combos they can practice when learning the game.

The best way you can go about unlocking this trophy is to complete two combo missions for thirteen characters and three missions for eight characters in the game's twenty one character roster, which will round out to 50. As with other fighting games, the key to completing these challenges involve timing and precision. You can also pause to buffer inputs you might have trouble doing normally.

There will be instances where you will need to perform an action as fast as you can before moving on to the next one, such as those that require you to juggle the opponent in the air before performing a specific move on the ground. You can also keep track of which combo challenges you have completed with each character by going into Record in the main menu and selecting each character's page.

  • CPを合計で10,000手に入れた

    Multimillionaire
    Obtained in total 10,000 CP

In order to unlock this trophy, you will need to obtain an accumulative total of 10,000 CP. You will go for this naturally when going for the trophies related to Story, Arena, and the online modes featured in the game, but they can also be earned from playing in Versus mode, in which you can make use of the grinding method found in Ultimate Weapon.

  • 全てのステージで対戦を行なった

    (Offline or Online)

In order to unlock this trophy, you will need to complete a match on all thirteen stages in the game, which consists of the ten stages from the original game and three new ones added in Rebellion. This can be done in either offline versus, or in online player and ranked matches, and each stage must be played at least once for it to count.
