Originally being a PS Vita exlusive, Assassin’s Creed III: Liberation has finally come to the consoles with an HD re-release! The game features visuals closer to III as well as updated audio, AI, and facial animations. Additional missions have been added and some Vita-specific touch screen missions have been removed. The node multiplayer that was featured on the Vita version has also been removed.

Liberation is set in New Orleans between 1765 and 1780, in the period between the end of the French and Indian War, up to the middle of the American Revolution. The game tells the story of Aveline; a female Assassin of mixed French and African heritage. Brought up in a world of privilege and contrasts, Aveline becomes a strong willed woman and an avid opponent of slavery.

The platinum is significantly easier to obtain than the Vita version in terms of time because of the removal of the multiplayer mode and several trophies, including The Climber which required you to climb 8848 meters. That removes about 5+ hours off of your time required to platinum!

Just a note: Some of the memories have been moved around. For example, Sequence 1, Memory 9 “At the pub” is now Sequence 3, Memory 1.

Step 1: Complete the Story Mode

During this step, you should focus on playing through the story while also trying to complete the optional objectives for each sequence. Don’t worry if you miss one optional objective, as you can replay missions later on.

As you progress through the game, however, collect any collectibles and synchronize any viewpoints you come across on your journies between missions to progress through the story, as it will make your job easier in the clean-up stage. Also, try to get any of the miscellaneous trophies, namely Machete , Survivor , Shipmaster , Swamp Queen , Umbrella , Thief , Hangman , Poison , Predator . Death by Poison and My 1st Dressing Chamber will be obtained in this step, as it is impossible to miss these since these will be required as part of the story.

At the end of this step, you will definitely have these trophies:

Death by Poison
My 1st Dressing Chamber
Sequence 1
Sequence 2
Sequence 4
Sequence 6
Sequence 8
Complete Aveline’s Story
The Truth

Step 2: Clean up and Miscellaneous Trophies

During this step, you should collect any collectible, synchronize any viewpoint, buy any shop, and do any side-quests that you missed in the first step.

At the end of this step, you will have these trophies:

Human Shields
Collector
Persona Collector
Machete
Survivor
Shipmaster
Swamp Queen
Secret Lives
Umbrella
Buy All Dressing Chambers
Thief
Hangman
One Watch is not Enough
Poison
RHP Master
Business Woman
Ship Crew
Bayou Fever
Liberation
Predator

Step 3: Getting 100% Sync in Main Sequences

In this final step, if you haven’t already completed this, you only need to get 100% synchronization for each of the missions in the nine sequences in the story. Since you will have the best of every weapon and all of your pouches should be upgraded, getting 100% sync should be a lot easier.

Apparently, if you redeemed Connor's special mission on Uplay before finishing the game with 100% Synch, you will need to play his mission for the trophy to pop

At the end of this step, you will have these trophies:

Complete 100% of all Mission Constraints
Platinum Trophy

31 trophies ( 19  8  )

  • Collect all other 30 Trophies for this Trophy.

  • Achieve 100% Synchronization in all Sequences.

Simply achieve 100% in the 9 sequences that are story-related. You can actually do this trophy during the story since the requirements are not really too difficult, but they are not required to complete the story so you can replay the main missions after you beat the game and thus make the story more enjoyable.

Luckily, if you fail, you do NOT have to restart the entire memory. Just go to the menu and restart the memory from the last checkpoint.

If you are having any difficulty with a mission constraint, you can use this 100% Synchronization Guide written by me.

Apparently, if you redeemed Connor's special mission on Uplay before finishing the game with 100% Sync, you will need to play his mission for the trophy to pop. In order to play this mission, you must manually go into DNA, and go to Sequence 8 and select Memory 2: Connor's Way. There are no mission constraints, so this shouldn't be a problem. Once you beat this mission, your trophy should pop.

Glitch Warning: The trophy may not pop once you complete your final memory needed. Just replay a mission (you don't even need to get 100% of the constraints) and the trophy should pop:

Credit to Alex Fly for this:

My 100% sync trophy didn't pop after replaying my last memory to complete (and yes this include having played the alternate memory with Connor already) so if someone else had the same problem I simply recompleted the final mission and my trophy popped. Sorry if this has been said already.

    Credit to desperado for this:

For "Complete 100% of all Mission Constraints" I encountered the glitch that others were experiencing [...] so I replayed the last mission, as suggested and I didn't even have to get full synch the second time [...] and it popped right after the credits.

Once you get 100% Synchronization in all 9 Sequences, the trophy should pop.

  • Block 10 shots or firing lines with a human shield.

All you need to do is block ten gunshots by using an enemy as a human shield. A firing line can be seen by a yellow triangle marker above an enemy’s head, just like Assassin’s Creed III had. Once you see the yellow triangle above an enemy, quickly grab a different enemy from nearby by pressing to initiate the grab for a human shield. The enemies will try to clear a path for the gunshot, so be quick to grab an enemy.

If you are having trouble completing this, just find a large, open area in New Orleans with a lot of guards (Place D’Armes is a good place) and run around trying to get them to follow you. Once you have a large enough group, just stand still at a decent length from some guards and try to avoid getting hit by their weapons. After a bit, the guards who are hanging in the back will draw out their guns: that is the time to strike. Just make sure you have a large group because three of the group will be fighting you, the others will wait in the back for the opportune moment to start a firing line.

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

  • Collect all diary pages, alligator eggs, Mayan statuettes, and mushrooms.

As the description states, collect every diary page, alligator egg, Mayan statuette and mushroom in the game. The collectibles can be found scattered around New Orleans, The Bayou, and Chichen Itza. Some are hidden inside trees and houses, so be on the look out. Luckily, if you are close to the collectible, it will appear on your mini-map.

Here are some maps for the locations of all collectibles.

    New Orleans

    The Bayou

    Chichen Itza

Here are some video guides from PowerPyx, as well:

    Diary Pages:

    Alligator Eggs:

    Mayan Statuettes:

    Mushrooms:

    Notes:
    - Diary Pages #1 & #30 are story-related and cannot be missed.
    - Two statuettes are found in underwater levels. One is in Sequence 4, and the other is in Sequence 6. It is highly recommended you get these in your first go during the underwater levels, as they are the longest, and you would have to restart the entire level to get them.

Possible Glitch Warning: It is possible that Diary #30 may glitch out and act as if you did not collect it. If this has happened to you, replay Sequence 4, Memory 5 again to collect it. Thanks to AYGAME for the tip.

  • Collect every persona-specific collectible.

There are three different personas in Liberation. Each one has unique collectibles that you can only obtain while wearing the persona in either New Orleans or The Bayou. The three different personas are: the Assassin, the Lady, and the Slave. The collectibles for the Assassin are Assassin Coins, the Lady collects Jeweled Brooches, and the Slave collects Voodoo Dolls. See Collector for maps.

Assassin Persona: Find a ‘Coins’ icon on the map, beat up/kill the smuggler, then loot him and you will acquire the coin

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

Lady: Find a ‘Brooch’ icon on the map, charm a gentleman by pressing and you will acquire the brooch. Brooches can only be found in New Orleans

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

Slave: Find a ‘Voodoo doll’ icon, then pickpocket the houngan (Voodoo priest) and you will acquire the doll. Just remember to approach from behind in order to pickpocket.

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

Note: The persona collectibles can only be obtained once you begin Sequence 4.

  • Kill 5 guards in 15 seconds using only the Sugarcane Machete (without using the Chain Kill).

An easy way to do this is to run around a large area trying to get a large group of guards (must be guards and not just any enemy) to chase you. Once you have a large enough group that you feel confident with, throw a smoke bomb. This will stun the guards and make them sitting ducks for your slaughter, and hack away! Throw more smoke bombs if you need to. Just make sure to equip the machete.

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

  • Survive 10 animal encounters.

For this trophy, you need to survive ten animal attacks. In the Bayou, there are alligators that will attack you if approached. You will first encounter one in Sequence 2, Memory 4. Once they attack you, you will enter into a QTE. Once you finish the QTE and kill the alligator. If you fail the QTE, just mash until you are able to restart the QTE. Alligators are found near an alligator egg nest.

There are also other animals that have been added to the game, such as bears and bobcats, which is why the trophy description has changed “alligator encounters” to “animal encounters” in this HD rerelease.

See Collector for a map on the egg locations.

  • Buy the maximum number of ships (8).

In order to unlock this trophy, you need to buy eight ships, which is the maximum you can buy. Ships can be bought in the economic ship mini-game found in your Assassin HQ, which can first be accessed in Sequence 3, Memory 2. Go to the desk in the HQ to access the mini-game. In the mini-game, a port can only hold up to four ships, so you need to spread out the ships to two harbours. Your first ship will be acquired as a part of the tutorial, so you only need to buy seven more ships. The cheapest ship is the Galleon, which costs 3,700 écu. You can repurchase the Galleon for the 8 total. You will need a total of 25,900 écu to buy the 7 ships needed.

    The Galleon Ship
This image has been resized. Click this bar to view the full image. The original image is sized 1920x1080.

Note: This is actually the best way to make a lot of écu. Simply send the 8 ships around in a triangle pattern between three ports in order to trade the best imports/exports.

  • Tree Run for 10 branches without touching the ground.

Find a tree branch or fallen tree to climb on, then begin free running on the branches (in a path set for you). This should come naturally if you prefer to travel through The Bayou by tree instead of on foot, as long as you don’t fall on the ground while trying to reach the total of 10 branches needed.

I unlocked this trophy in Sequence 2, Memory 1 while trying to find the last clue. Just run in the trees for as far as possible.

Here is a tip from themindisacity to make this even easier:

"You don't actually have to do this in The Bayou. This was the first trophy I got - in the initial sequence when you need to go to the pigeon coop, there are two trees next to it you can jump back and forth between - and even take your time doing it! As long as you don't touch the ground or jump to the nearby roof, it'll pop."

  • Kill an enemy with a poison dart.

As the trophy states, simply kill an enemy using the poison dart with your blowpipe or the parasol gun.

The blowpipe is a ranged weapon to fire poison and berserk darts. Only the Assassin and Slave personas can use it. You obtain the blowpipe in Sequence 2, Memory 2.

The parasol gun is also a ranged weapon to fire poison and berserk darts. Only the Lady persona can use it. You obtain the parasol gun in Sequence 3, Memory 2.

  • Complete all persona-specific side missions.

For the HD rerelease, Ubisoft has added new persona-specific side missions. For this trophy, you need to complete all the side missions for each of Aveline’s personas: the Assassin, the Lady, and the Slave. The Assassin has “Contracts” Sequence, the Lady has “The Plot” Sequence, and the Slave has “Detective” Sequence.

The Contracts sequence can be found in the graveyard in northern New Orleans. The Plot sequence can be found in western New Orleans. The Slave sequence can be found near the middle of New Orleans, however the 4th and 5th missions are in The Bayou near the Smuggler camp.

    Contracts:

    • Delayed Justice
    • The Snitch
    • Free Delivery
    • Safe Passage
    • Pigeon Hunt

    The Plot:

    • Barely Made It
    • Payback
    • Breadcrumbs
    • Bon voyage
    • Old Friend

    Detective:

    • Helping Hand
    • The Case
    • Hot Trail
    • Witness Protection
    • The Culprit

    Notes:
    - These missions appear after completing Sequence 5, Memory 1.
    - You do not need 100% synchronization in each mission in order for this trophy to pop.

  • Kill 25 enemies with the Parasol Gun.

As stated above, the parasol gun is the ranged weapon for the Lady Persona and won’t be available till Sequence 3, Memory 2. Once you receive the parasol gun, just start killing enemies with it, just as you would with the blowpipe. It may sound like a quick trophy, but the parasol gun takes quite a while to reload.

  • Buy your 1st Dressing Chamber.

    See Buy All Dressing Chambers.

  • Buy every Dressing Chamber.

Similar to how you could buy shops in previous AC games, such as tailors and blacksmiths, in Liberation, you can purchase Dressing Chambers. Near the beginning, you will encounter Dressing Chambers found in New Orleans and The Bayou. All you need to do for this trophy is purchase all Dressing Chambers, for the price of 500 écu each. Your first Dressing Chamber purchase will be in Sequence 1, Memory 7 as a part of the story.

Note: Tailors and blacksmiths are not required to purchase for this trophy

    Dressing Chamber Locked icon (pre-purchase)

    Dressing Chamber icon (post-purchase)

  • Pickpocket 5000 ├ęcu.

For this trophy, you need to pickpocket 5,000 écu, which is the currency in Assassin's Creed: Liberation. In order to pickpocket 5,000 écu, you need to stand/walk behind someone and hold until the ‘theft’ is complete. Once you have stolen a total of 5,000 écu, the trophy should pop.

If you are really impatient and want to steal 5,000 écu immediately, there is a trick that was used in past AC games. What you need to do is gain a high notoriety by killing a bunch of guards. A good place to do this is in Place D’Armes. Once you are at full notoriety, find a corrupt magistrate and bribe him to bring down your notoriety. It will cost 1,050 écu to bring down a full notoriety. After you bribe the magistrate, go behind him and pickpocket his wallet by holding . And then you have just stolen 1,050 écu! Do that 4 more times, and voilà! You should have your trophy!

    Corrupt Magistrate icon

Note: You should be in the Assassin persona for this.

  • Perform 10 predator moves using the Whip.

You will gain the Whip as a weapon in Sequence 4, Memory 4. In order to complete a predator move, you need to go to a beam or pole sticking out of a building and target an enemy. Once your enemy is in your sights, press and hold then pull down on the left stick () to hang the enemy with the Whip. Repeat until you have 10 kills. Once you have performed your tenth predator move, the trophy should pop.

You can see you progress by going to the ‘Pause Menu’ > ‘Database’ > ‘Stats’ > ‘Fight and Kills’, then go down to ‘Enemies Hanged During Predator Move’.

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

Note: This is very unlike the PS Vita version of the trophy which required you to stand on a roof and just hold pulling and hanging the guy while you are standing on the roof. This didn’t really make sense as a “predator move” anyway, so this is a better change.

  • Collect all the pocket watches.

Pocket watches are collectibles that can only be obtained through purchasing from a Smuggler. The Smuggler icon is similar to a Old Western bandit, i.e. a guy with a bandana over the mouth/nose. Every now and then, check into a Smuggler’s shop to see if he has new pocket watches, as the inventory changes frequently. Once you collect all of the pocket watches, the trophy is yours.

    Smuggler icon

Note: This is best saved for last, or when you have a lot of écu (from using the ship economy), as this will be very costly. The most expensive pocket watch is 58,125 écu. The total cost of all pocket watches is 165,625 écu.

Here’s a video guide from PowerPyx:

  • Use berserk poison to force an enemy to kill 5 enemies.

Sometime after you acquire the blowpipe, you will gain a new poison: Berserk poison. This poison will cause the afflicted to attack everyone around him, friend or foe. The best place to do this is during Sequence 3, Memory 4. After the race to a checkpoint with Éline, you can run up a tree next to you. Go further in a free-run until you reach a white-jacketed soldier who is standing near the convoy carriage. Equip the berserk darts and then shoot him with your blowpipe. He will attack and kill all of the other soldiers around him, which should be more than the 5 needed. If you are having trouble (like if he actually dies before the 5th soldier), berserk another guard far away from him, and he will also draw attention. After he kills the fifth soldier, the trophy will pop.

Here’s a video guide from PowerPyx:

  • Synchronize all viewpoints.

If you have played an Assassin’s Creed game before, you already know what to do. For those who are new, a viewpoint is signified on the map by an eagle icon. In order to synchronize a viewpoint, you must go to the top of the branch, roof, or steeple indicated and you will see an eagle perching. Once on the bird’s perch or nest, press to synchronize the viewpoint. When you synchronize a viewpoint, the area is updated on your map to show an un-fogged portion. You must synchronize each viewpoint in New Orleans, The Bayou, and Chichen Itza. Once all of the viewpoints are synchronized, your trophy will pop.

    Viewpoint icon

    Notes:
    - You don’t have to search for the icons to appear, unlike most of the collectibles.
    - Some people were having trouble finding their last viewpoint. Make sure to check the viewpoint above the Assassin's HQ, as the HQ icon is directly on top of the viewpoint icon.

  • Complete every Business Rivals mission.

Business Rivals missions are signified by their crosshairs icon. These missions require you to take out a business rival, naturally. There are a total of 7 Business Rivals missions, six are found in New Orleans, and one is found in The Bayou. Once you have completed a Business Rivals mission, every store (tailor shop & weapons shop) in the area will be available for purchase. These Business Rivals missions will be available after Sequence 3, Memory 3.

    Business Rivals icon

Note: You do not need 100% synchronization in each mission in order for this trophy to pop.

  • Complete every Ship Crew mission.

Ship Crew missions are signified by an icon resembling a group of three men. These missions require you to complete certain tasks for your ship Captain. In order to begin Ship Crew missions, you need to find Capitàn Carlos Dominguez, located on the southern docks (in the middle). You will first meet him in Sequence 1, Memory 4. Once you complete his first Ship Crew mission, Ship Crew missions will start to show up on the map. There are a total of three missions—all in New Orleans. Once you have completed all of the Ship Crew missions, the trophy will pop.

    Ship Crew icon

    Notes:
    - These will start to show up after Sequence 4 is completed, in order to get Capitàn Dominguez to need your help.
    - You do not need 100% synchronization in each mission in order for this trophy to pop.

  • Complete every Bayou Fever mission.

Bayou Fever missions are signified by a skull icon. These missions require you to cure fevered patients with rare mushrooms. In order to begin Bayou Fever missions, you need to find the Houngan (Voodoo priest) in The Bayou (to the left of the small town). He is accessible after Sequence 2, Memory 6. After doing the first tutorial mission, mushrooms will be available to collect scattered around The Bayou. Once you have a mushroom, find a Bayou Fever mission (indicated by a skull icon) and there will be a fevered (or mad) person. In order to give the person the medicine, you need to knock them out (use your fists). After he/she is knocked out, go to the fevered patient and press . Although there are 10 mushrooms, there are only 9 Bayou Fever missions (after the tutorial). Once you have healed all of the fevered patients, the trophy will pop.

    Bayou Fever icon

Note: You do not need 100% synchronization in each mission in order for this trophy to pop.

See Collector for a map of the Mushroom & Bayou Fever locations.

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

  • Complete every Free Slaves mission.

Free Slaves missions are signified by a fist icon. These missions require you to liberate groups of slaves. In order to begin Free Slaves missions, you must wear the Lady persona to talk to Aveline’s stepmother at De Grandpré’s mansion. There are only three missions, two in New Orleans, and one in The Bayou.

    Free Slaves icon

Note: You do not need 100% synchronization in each mission in order for this trophy to pop.

In Liberation, there are two different endings. Complete Aveline's Story unlocks as the normal ending (fake ending). The other ending (true ending) is only available when you have found and killed every Citizen E, pointed out by Erudito (hacker). There are six appearances of Citizen E throughout the game. The first and the last are story-related, the other four are scattered around and you have to find them on your own (in the open world). Once you have killed all six, you can experience the true ending, which will in turn give you this trophy. In order to kill a Citizen E, you must use your hidden blade. After certain points in the game, you will be able to find the next Citizen E, as each one shows the real side of the story in certain parts of the game.

The first Citizen E is story related and cannot be missed. He will be found in Sequence 2, Memory 6.

The final Citizen E is story related and cannot be missed. He will be found at the end of the game.

Here's a video guide from PowerPyx:

  • Kill an enemy from a tree, with the blowpipe, while using eagle vision.

To unlock this trophy, all you need to do is climb on a tree near an enemy, press to activate eagle vision, then shoot the enemy. You can unlock this through the story, as well. Sequence 5, Memory 3 requires you to find a target and use the blowpipe to take him out. You would be on a tree, trying to stay unnoticed. All you need to do extra is press for eagle vision.
