Introduction:
Welcome to The Princess Guide. This is an Action RPG where you train and command 4 princesses and there are some strategy elements.
This game will take 8 playthroughs to platinum. You have to get every ending for each princess, plus each princess’s materia. Some materia can only be earned in the true route so you have to do a normal run and a true end run with each princess. Each princess has three endings but you can get all three endings in one run, as long as you don't raise the princess’s faith above level 3.
There is New Game+ in this game and most things do carry over, like items, unlocked and learned materia and squad members' levels. All princesses' stats start off at one again so if you accidentally raised a princess's faith above 3, you can do a New Game+ playthrough and start over.
Walkthrough:
Step 1: Earn all 3 endings with each princess and unlock 79/80 materia for each princess:
You are going to do four normal playthroughs in this step. Each princess has three endings: neutral, good and best. They are based off the faith stat. Having 3 faith and lower is the neutral ending. The Good ending is 4 faith and the best ending is 5 faith so make sure to never raise the faith above 3 before unlocking the neutral ending but don't raise it above 4 before unlocking the good ending.
While going through the playthrough, make sure to complete each side mission as they appear, since they unlock materia for completing them. Most side missions have a time limit on them but if you don't trigger them on time, you can just wait a few in-game hours and they'll reappear. Press to speed up time in the map screen. Side missions are missable so if you go too far in the game, you will miss them so check after each mission to see if any new ones unlock. Side missions are also repeatable so if you see the same one keep reappearing, you don’t have to do them again and there aren’t any more in that chapter.
The girl you select at the very beginning of the game isn’t important, since you have to train all 4 of them in the first half of the game. It's when you choose a princess a second time where you will be locked into that girl's route.
While doing the first half where you train all 4 princesses, I recommend not raising their faith above 2 so that you don't go to the true route. If all princesses' faith is 3 or higher, you will get a message that says "Do you want to gather the princesses once again?" Select "No" to continue the normal route with your selected princess.
After completing the neutral ending, after the credits and the epilogue, you are asked if you want to start over with the save or not. Choose "No" to continue playing just before the final mission so that you unlock some more side missions. Complete all side missions that appear, raise the faith to 4 and complete the game once again to earn the good ending. Choose "No" again and raise the faith to 5. You will want to learn as much materia as possible, because it might be possible to max out their stats in this playthrough but if you can't, there is the true end playthrough that's good for learning materia. Complete the game one final time and choose "Yes" to start over again.
Now you have to repeat all of the above for the other three princesses.
After this step, you will unlock the following trophies:
Liliartie Neutral Ending
Liliartie Good Ending
Liliartie Best Ending
Veronica Neutral Ending
Veronica Good Ending
Veronica Best Ending
Monomaria Neutral Ending
Monomaria Good Ending
Monomaria Best Ending
Alpana Neutral Ending
Alpana Good Ending
Alpana Best Ending
Dragon Slayer
Giant Conqueror
System Malfunction
Calamity Averted
Step 2: Get the true end with each princess and learn all 80 materia with each:
Now it's time to get the true end with each princess and you'll want to learn (not just unlock) all 80 materia for each one. When you do the first half of the game with each princess, make sure to raise their faith to 3. They have limited capacity so don't teach them just any materia. You will want to teach the materia that gives them the biggest faith boost. After their faith reaches 3, teach them the materia that gives you the most skill points. You will need 370 skill points to purchase all Instructor Skills upgrades for the trophy Apex Hero so the more skill points you unlock now, the better since after the first half of the game, you can only train one princess and it's possible to not have enough skill points at the end of the game.
After completing the first half, choose the princess with whom you want to learn all of her materia and when prompted "Do you want to gather the princesses once again?" Select "Yes" to continue to the true end.
You also want to max each princesses' attributes in each playthrough, as you have to learn each materia for each princess but to have enough capacity to teach every materia, you’ll have to complete the game and again, when asked if you want to start over, select "No". Once all of the princess's materia is learned, her attributes are maxed and you’ve bought all Instructor Skills upgrades, you can complete the game again so you can repeat the process again, until you’ve done the same with all four princesses (but you only need to buy all Instructor Skills once).
After this step, you’ll unlock the following trophies:
Liliartie - Radiant Blossom!
Veronica - Full Throttle!
Monomaria - Master of Technique!
Alpana - Complete Enlightenment!
Knower of Things
Armor Master
Apex Hero
A New Dawn!
Road to the Future
Instructor of the Four Princess Knights!!
Step 3: Clean-up:
If you've missed a trophy, you will have to do another playthrough. Refer to the Trophy Guide to see what you've missed.
