Welcome to Lightwood Games' brand-spanking-newest addition to the POWGI-verse, Alphaset! In this game, they go back to the core of word games, the crossword! But as usual, it's never that simple. This time their personal twist on the age-old game is that you must use every letter in the alphabet and can only use each one just once! While there are 120 levels to play, you only need 30 for the Platinum, and of course Alphaset comes with some wonderfully pun-full trophies to earn. All in all, it's a relatively simple game and a great way to pass the time or nab an easy Platinum.
IMPORTANT: Not only is there no level name or any outward indication of level number, for perhaps the first time there is no inward indication either; no puzzle # is ever displayed anywhere. So in addition to containing the exact level number, every trophy will also have the precise location (which page, row, and button) for any puzzle referenced.
You'll start out with a half-filled-in crossword and a letter bank on the right-hand side and, as you cannot use the same letter twice, once you've used that letter, it'll be crossed out, allowing you to easily see the remaining, as-of-yet unused letters.
Like many other 'by POWGI' games, Alphaset comes with 120 levels spread over 4 pages with 30 puzzles on each page, though there are no preset difficulty levels this time. When it comes to the Platinum however, you'll only need to complete 30 of those puzzles.
For the most part, the trophies are all for completing certain levels. Two are for completing puzzle #s 001 and 120, and the others are for filling in specific words that are found over 26 other, different puzzles in the game. While you could technically just fill in those words and stop, there is a trophy to complete 30 levels, so you might as well complete those specific levels while you're at it! That's really all there is to do here; there aren't any real shenanigans here, no weird, random trophy requests, just one of the plain old just-play-the-game lists. The only remaining two trophies are for 1) Erasing 5 letters at once with the Fix feature, and 2) Completing 1 puzzle with no mistakes, both of which are quite easy to do!
While there are no Hints in the game, there is a Check and a "Fix" feature. You can Check if there are any incorrect letters currently on the board by pressing at any time. It won't tell you which letters are incorrect but will tell you how many of them are. You do have one other option, though; if you choose to, after pressing for a Check, you can press Fix which, although it won't correct them, will erase the invalid letters. You can use either of them as many times as you want throughout the game.
TIP: Press or when in the select screen to cycle through the pages. If you decide to only do the trophy-related levels, just be aware that the game has an annoying tendency to take you back to whichever page contains the earliest blank or incomplete level every time you exit out to the menu/level select. Meaning that you will be returned to the very first page every time you finish a level, even if you were on page 4.
STEP 1: Complete the 30 specified levels.
Play the game and complete the 30 necessary levels (you can see the list under The Leashed You Could Do). That's it. That's literally the only step there is and the only one you need. Along your way, just make sure to put 5 incorrect letters at once and then press => "Fix" to erase all 5 in one go for Help Meowt and don't forget to complete at least one level with no mistakes for Who's a Clever Boy? (see the trophy for more details on the latter).
By the end of this step, you will have earned:
Pup and Running
The Leashed You Could Do
Roll Over and Out
Who's a Clever Boy?
Kit and Caboodle
Key-p On Keeping On
A Matter of Fax
Hip Hip Who-ray!
Jaw the One That I Want
Call of Dew-ty
What a Relief!
