Introduction:

Welcome to Bright Falls, a quiet and small town near Lake Cauldron in the USA. This town is perfect for a nice holiday, if you just don't go out at night...

In this game, you will play the role of Alan Wake, a famous writer suffering of the infamous Writer's Block. He and his wife, Alice, decided to go on holidays in Bright Falls, in order to clear Alan's mind and make him comfortable, so he can start writing again. Unfortunately, things will not go as planned.

The game is an action game that takes place in the surroundings of Bright Falls, where you will fight strange enemies with the light of your torch and some weapons. You will have access to different kinds of weapons and "granades" that can help you survive the darkness.

The platinum is quite easy to get and is a nice mix of combat trophies, story related trophies and collectibles. In order to help you navigate in this game, I will give you some hints on how to deal with fights and collectibles:
  • In order to kill enemies, you need to light them to remove their barrier. You don't need to focus the light on them, do it only when they're very near to you as this will stop them for a small time.
  • In some areas, enemies simply respawn unlimited. Just run to the next check-point and avoid wasting ammo and batteries.
  • Ammo and weapon will not carry over between Episodes, so don't be too conservative
  • Combat and Collectibles trophies will carry over on the different plathroughs and Episode select but they work differently:
    • Combat stats: whenever you kill an enemy in a certain way, it will be immediately recorded on a different save file.
    • Collectibles: They will be recorded once you reach a check-point. If you die, you need to collect them again.
  • At the end of the game, there will be the option to select Episodes, so nothing is missable but for some collectibles, you will need to play again long sections of each Episode.
Note on Missable trophies: Even if there are 0 missables trophies, there are 9 Episode-related trophies that can be missed during some Episodes. Since there is an Episode-select at the end of the game, i will not consider them as missable, as you can simply replay the specific Episode without starting the game from scratch.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Play the game and enjoy the story, trying to get as many collectibles as possible and get some Combat trophies.

Start the game on the difficulty you prefer, in order to unlock Nightmare for the second playthrough. I suggest to play the game on Normal for a bit of a challenge but you can play on Easy, that i can say is not that easy.
During this step, complete the game and try to get as many collectibles and combat trophies you can.
Keep an eye on three trophies that can be earned during this step in order to avoid replaying those episodes:
Note on collectibles and step 3: If you already finished the game once on other console or you just want to get the platinum in the shortest time possible by skipping Episode replaying, you can use a collectibles guide in this step, in order to get all of them on the first run. If you do this, in the next step you can focus on getting Meet the Deadline trophy_bronze.pngand An Idyllic Small Town trophy_bronze.png, two trophies that are quite hard to get if you're going for the collectibles.
Since replaying the Episodes is not so long, i suggest to DON'T USE a guide during step 1 and simply explore the game and try to find the collectibles by yourself. However, the choice is yours.

At the end of this step, you will get:

Step 2: Play Nightmare mode and get all the collectibles and the missable trophies on Episode 4, Episode 5 and Episode 6:

Once you finished the story once, you should be able to face Nightmare mode. This is easier than it may looks, as you may simple skip almost all the fights and you should be well equipped for the unskippable ones.
During this run, take a collectibles guide for all the collectibles you missed on the first run and the manuscripts pages that can be found only in nightmare (i used Fido1337 videoguides), try to get any other combat trophies you need and be sure to get the "missable" trophies:
At the end of this step, you will get:

At the end of this step, you will get:

DLC 1: THE SIGNAL

Overview:
  • Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10
  • Offline trophies: 8 (8, 0, 0, 0)
  • Online trophies: 0
  • Approximate amount of time to 100%: 3 Hours
  • Minimum number of playthroughs: 2 and maybe some Episode replaying
  • Number of missable trophies: 1 Fast and Furious trophy_bronze.png
  • Glitched trophies: 0
  • Does difficulty affect trophies?: No
Introduction:

The Signal is the first of 2 DLCs that will continue the story of Alan Wake. They're short, less than 1 hour if you know what to do, but you need to play them more than once to get all the trophies. The Signal is a little bit different from the main game, as there will be less safe lights and you will face an high number of enemies all together. You need 2 run to get the 100%, as you need to complete a full run without dying and without using any checkpoints.

Note on the missable trophy: Fast and Furious trophy_bronze.png can be considered as a missable trophy because it can be earned during the ending boss fight. If you fail, you need to replay all the DLC again.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete The Signal on any difficulty trying to get all the collectibles. Don't use any vehicle.

For the first step, simply complete the game trying to get all the collectables. Like the main game, you can use a guide for them or simply search them by yourself. Try to learn the location of the enemies and don't use any vehicle when you can.

At the end of this step, you will get:

A Friend in Need trophy_bronze.png
A Friend Indeed trophy_bronze.png
Words Will Never Harm You trophy_bronze.png
License Revoked trophy_bronze.png

Step 2: Complete The Signal in one go without dying on Easy, try to get the last collectibles and defeat the last boss in under 1:30

This is the "hardest" step, as you need to complete the DLC in one go, without dying or restarting checkpoints. This can be a bit frustrating if you start dying, as you have to replay the entire DLC many times. See Run-On Sentence trophy_bronze.png for info. Also, try to use this step to beat the boss at the end of the DLC in under 1:30. The time is strict but with at least 3 flareguns ammos and some flares, you can be able to do it. See Fast and Furious trophy_bronze.png.
Also, try to get any remaining collectables by using a guide (Fido1337)

At the end of this step, you will get:

Run-On Sentence trophy_bronze.png
Fast and Furious trophy_bronze.png
Tick Tock trophy_bronze.png
Cardboard Companions trophy_bronze.png

DLC 2: THE WRITER

Overview:
Introduction:

The Writer is the second and last DLC that will end the story of Alan Wake. The DLC is very similar to the previous one, with only 2 small changes: more enemies and some platforming session. To get 100%, you have to follow the same ways of the main game and the first DLC: two different runs, find collectibles and finish the DLC in one go. However, this time there are 5 trophies that can be considered as missables because, if you miss them, you have to replay the entire DLC to reach some specific points of the story. See the trophy guide for each trophy description.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Complete The Writer on any difficulty trying to get all the collectibles and trying to get as many missable trophies as possible

During this step, simply complete The Writer on any difficulty you prefer, trying to find as many collectibles as possible. Also, it will be useful to get some of the missables out of the way, in order to try making a clean run for step 2.

At the end of this step, you will get:

Ding! trophy_bronze.png
Kill Your Darlings trophy_bronze.png
Go Gentle Into That Good Light trophy_bronze.png
Iron Will trophy_bronze.png
Creative Space trophy_bronze.png
Heartbreaker trophy_bronze.png

Step 2: Complete The Writer in one go without dying on Easy, try to get the last collectibles and complete the Tornado in under 60 seconds.

Now, it's time for the one-shot run. This time, this will be a little harder than The Signal, because of the bad platforming part during the Tornado. Try to get the last collectibles, if you still need some, and once you reach the Tornado, try to complete it in under 60 seconds. Play safe and you will reach the end of this DLC and of the first part of Alan Wake story.

At the end of this step, you will get:

No Punctuation trophy_bronze.png
Whirlwind trophy_bronze.png
Licensed Properties trophy_bronze.png

Step 3: Clean Up

If you missed some trophies, simply replay the DLC to get them.

    Episode 4 Missable

You will get this trophy during the chase part of Episode 4, where you try to run away from the darkness inside Hartman's Clinic. You need to start a TV on a small lodge right before the part where you have to use a poltergeist to break two doors.

Once you find the TV, just start it like any other TV and the trophy will unlock.
  • You disobeyed the park ranger's instructions.

    Story-related, can't be missed

In Episode 2, after trying to turn the power on, you will find a huge hole in the wall. Kill the enemy outside the hole to get this trophy.
  • You survived Elderwood National Park.

    Story-related, can't be missed

    Simply complete Episode 2

Episode 3 Story-related but can be missed

In Episode 3, you will find yourself fighting a bulldozer poltergeist. This battle can be skipped but since you need this trophy, defeat him.

The fight is not quite hard: you need to focus your light on him until he is dead. Avoid its attacks and beware of the Taken around it.
  • You made the train engine run out of steam.

Episode 3 Story-related but can be missed

You will get this in Episode 3 and like the Bulldozer, you can skip this fight, so don't do it.

You will reach a ghost town during Episode 3, where you will be attacked twice by this train: he will attack first with the boiler and then with the steam.
Like the bulldozer, simply use your focus light until both are defeated.
  • You found the kidnapper, but what he had to say wasn't what you wanted to hear.

    Story-related, can't be missed

    Simply complete Episode 3
  • You listened to Hartman's recordings.

    Episode 4 Missable

You will get this trophy during Episode 4, after you go back in your room. After some events, you will get the key to the Administration's wing of the clinic. Once you use them to open the door, go to the right opened door and check the recordings on the table. You need to interact with it more than once to unlock this trophy.
  • You shone a light upon this night of otherworldly fiends.

    Episode 4 Missable

This is one of the hardest trophies of the game and possibly the most frustrating one. To get it, you need to complete the battle on the stage in the Anderson's Farm without dropping to low healt (or die).

The fight is quite easy, as you will have the help of many show lights, fireworks and an high number of supplies like ammo, flares and flashbangs.

The bad news is that during this fight, there will be tons of enemies and they will come from each side. And since you can't die or receive too much damage, you must be on your guard all the time.

The best advice that i can give you is to continuosly move and look around in order to see any sneaking enemy coming for you. Always use your flares when enemies are too near and don't be afraid to use all of your equipment, specially flashbangs and flares. Also, as soon as possible, get the Heavy-Duty torch in front of Billy that can be helpful.

Try to get this trophy on your first run on Easy/Normal or try to get it during step 3.

Note: Some people have claimed to have earned this after a restart once they had died. If you get low health, try to die and restart from a checkpoint to still have a chance.
  • Oh, so THAT'S what happened.

    Story-related, can't be missed

    Simply complete Episode 4
  • You drank 'em bot' up.

    Episode 1 and 5 Missable

This trophy is divided in two parts: you need to play the jukebox both in Episode 1 and Episode 5.
    1. Episode 1: you will be asked to start the Jukebox by an old man (Tor Anderson).
    2. Episode 5: during your journey through Bright Falls, you will see the same diner at your left side. Enter and start the Jukebox again
  • Truly, you are the master of floodgates.

    Story-related, can't be missed

In Episode 5, after you meet the lady of the light, you have to cut the power to the transformer yard. In order to do this, you need to solve a small puzzle.

The solution of the puzzle is:
    • Activate the 3rd button (far right of the 3)
    • Activate the middle button
Once you do this, the trophy will unlock
  • Cynthia Weaver has taken you to the Well-Lit Room.

    Story-related, can't be missed

    Simply complete Episode 5
  • You calmed the fury of the storm.

    Story-related, can't be missed

At the end of Episode 6, you have to face a Tornado. The battle is quite easy: simply run to the last platform and start shooting with the flaregun until it stops.

Beware: When moving between platforms, you could be thrown down by the items around the Tornado, so try to calculate your jumps.
  • You completed the game on Easy difficulty.

See Alan, Wake Up trophy_bronze.png for info
  • You completed the game on Normal difficulty.

See Alan, Wake Up trophy_bronze.png for info
  • You completed the game on Nightmare difficulty.

To get this trophy, complete the game in Nightmare difficulty. To unlock Nightmare, you need to complete the game once. If you played the game on easy, once you get this trophy, you will unlock Hardboiled Writer trophy_bronze.png

Nightmare difficulty is easier than it seems. In this difficulty, the only relevant changes are:
    • The darkness is hard to remove and takes longer
    • Enemies have more hit points
    • Enemies hit harder
You will still find a high number of supplies and ammo, your health is the same and there isn't any change on the number of enemies.

I will list here some tricks and some useful suggestions to make the run easier:
    • Avoid any fight! Almost all battles can be skipped and this is the best strategy. Run from one source of light to another, don't waste ammo and supplies on never ending battles.
    • Try to get more supplies by opening secret chests whenever they are easy to reach and will not cost you any extra fight
    • Use the focused light when enemies are too close
    • Abuse of flares! They're your best friends, especially when you're running away. Using the flares will slow down the enemies, giving you time to reach the next light.
    • Get used to the dodging system, as you need to dodge as much as possible
    • Whenever you have a companion, abuse his/her ammo. Remove the darkness from the enemies and let them kill the Taken
    • Anytime you're in front of poltergeists, try to hide between a pillar or a tree, in order to create a physical obstacle for them, so they will not be able to hit you
    • Try to always have a high number of flaregun ammo, so you can use them when surrounded by enemies
Once you defeat the last "boss", you will get this trophy.
  • Not a bird lover, are you?

During the game, you will be forced to face flocks of birds made of darkness. They're quite an annoying enemy, as they need time to be defeated and sometimes there will be a high number of them in the worst places. To get this trophy, you need to kill 1000 single birds, not the flock.
Even if it's a high number, you probably will reach the kills during your first run of the game, as there is a very high number of birds. If this is not the case, the kills are cumulative and the counter will continue during the second run.

How to deal with birds: i had some problems with them during my first encounters, so i will write a small guide on how to deal with them. To defeat the entire flock, you need to hit them with your torch and wait until you kill a high number. Every time they are going to attack you, use the focused light to avoid damage and continue to keep them lit when the attack ends, so you will continue to kill them. After a certain number, the flock will disappear.

You can check how many birds you have killed by going to pause -> statistics.
  • You have destroyed 20 poltergeist objects.

Poltergeist objects will start to appear during Episode 3. They're objects (like barrells, wheels or other things) that will be possessed by the darkness and will throw themselves against you.

To destroy them, simply hit them with the light of the torch or use flashbangs, the flaregun or flares. Do this 20 times and the trophy will unlock.

To avoid any damage, try to hide behind a pillar or any other objects that can prevent them to run against you.

You can check how many poltergeists you have killed by going to pause -> statistics.
  • You capped 100 Taken with the revolver.

  • You have dropped 50 Taken with the hunting rifle.

  • QWERTY? DVORAK? 50 Taken know it's neither.

  • It is the east, and the flaregun is the sun to 50 Taken.

  • 50 Taken have felt your fury. Also, your flashbangs.

In order to get The Six-Gun Scribe trophy_bronze.png, Taken Season trophy_bronze.png, It's Not Just a Typewriter Brand trophy_bronze.png, and What Light Through Yonder Window trophy_bronze.png, you will be required to kill a certain amount of Taken using the different weapons of the game:
Simply switch between weapons in order to farm kills. Every time you kill an enemy, the kill will be recorded, so if you die, the kill will remain in the counter and the count will carry over any new run.

You can check how many kills you have on each weapon by going to pause -> statistics.

Note: You can only take one kind of rifle. If you have the Hunting Rifle, you will lose it if you find a shotgun and decide to use that.
  • 20 Taken have been drowned, electrocuted, or dispatched by some other indirect means.

To get this trophy, you have to get rid of 20 Taken by indirect means. It means that you have to use the environment to kill the enemies: Throw them from a ledge, use the explosive barrels, make the poltergeists kill them.

A good place to farm indirect kills is during the fight on the stage in Anderson's farm near the end of Episode 4. Simply push the enemies outside the stage and wait for the lights to kill them off.

20 is not a high number, so this trophy should pop during your first or second playthrough.

You can check how many kills by indirect means you have by going to pause -> statistics.
  • You wiped out four Taken with a single flare.

To get this trophy, you need to kill 4 Taken with a single shot from the flaregun.
There are many good spot to do this, but one of the best spots is in Episode 3 when you're in the mine. You will be tasked to cut out electricity to progress further and you will be surrounded by enemies while trying to do this.

Simply lure 4 Taken together and shot them with the flaregun.
  • You blasted four Taken into ashes with a single flashbang.

Like Come One, Come All trophy_bronze.png but this time you need flashbangs: Kill 4 Taken with one flashbang.

Same strategy: Once you're in Episode 3 in the mine, lure 4 Taken together and use a flashbang.
  • You took out two Taken with a single barrel.

The trophy description is a bit misleading (especially in the Italian version, with a wrong translation). To get this trophy, you need to kill 2 Taken with a single shot of the shotgun.

This is a little bit tricky, because the shotgun can do more damage to enemies that are near you and the Taken are quite dangerous when they are near and they move in an unpredictable way. Also, shotgun is not a common weapon.

One of the best spot to do this is in Episode 3, when you are going to reach Mirror's Peak. You will find a shotgun and during your walking, you will find yourself passing through a small passage. Try to lure 2 Taken there and once you wipe out the darkness, try to kill them with the shotgun. You don't need to kill them with one shot, but they must die both at the same time.
  • You bought yourself some breathing time with a flare.

To get this trophy, you must use the flares in one of two situations:
    1. If you're low on health (when the monitor becomes darker and you can hear the heartbeat) and there are enemies near you
    2. If you're surrounded by 3 or more Taken, in order to put them back
Both cases will happen quite usually during both of your runs, so this should come naturally.

If this will not be the case, just try to do this in any Episode you prefer (from episode 3, as the previous episodes will not have any flares).
  • You avoided getting hit -- with style!

See Missed by a Mile trophy_bronze.png for info
  • You managed a slow-motion dodge 20 times.

To get this and Float Like a Butterfly trophy_bronze.png, you need to perfectly dodge attacks.

This will require a bit of practice, as the dodging system needs some precision. To dodge an attack, you need to press l1.png at the perfect time (usually as soon as the Taken start to attack). You know that you did it perfectly because the animation will be done in slow-motion.

Do this 20 times and the trophy will unlock. Don't waste time farming for it, as you need to master the dodging system in order to survive Nightmare.
  • You changed batteries 100 times.

This trophy will come pretty naturally, as you will change a high number of batteries during your runs.

You will find batteries around the Episodes and you can change them by pressing triangle.png.
  • You have restored power.

    Story-related, can't be missed

This is one of the first trophies you will get. Simply start the power on Bird Leg Cabin.
  • You have heartlessly knocked over five defenseless can pyramids.

See Collector's Edition trophy_silver.png  for info
  • You made it all the way to the Cauldron Lake lookout in under 30 minutes.

    Episode 3 Missable

To get this trophy, you must reach Cauldron Lake lookout in under 30 minutes, starting from the mine museum at night.
Even if you start running, 30 minutes is quite a short time, so if you want to get this trophy, you should avoid any unnecessary fights and simply go to your goal, without taking any different roads looking for collectibles or extra supply.

Once the phone call ends in the museum, start running and moving from one light to another. Once you reach the part where the kidnapper will start speaking in less than 30 minutes, the trophy will unlock.
  • You fought your way through the streets of Bright Falls without getting killed.

    Episode 5 Missable

To get this trophy, you need to survive until you reach the chopper in Episode 5. This seems hard to get but it's easier than it seems, as you will always have a partner during your journey.

This is easier in Easy mode but it's doable also in Nightmare, just avoid any unnecessary fight, use all your ammo and supply, abuse  your partner's shots and simply focus on reaching the end of the section.

There are 2 fights that can break your run:
    • The fight in front of the church: When Sarah will try to open the doors of the church, you have to fight 2 waves of enemies. The first wave is of quite normal Takens, while the second fight will have the "Invisible" Takens. This enemy runs quite fast, so you need to wait until they stop to start using the focus light. The best way to finish this fight is to use the flaregun or the flashbangs, just be sure to aim at the enemies.
    • The fight before the chopper: During this battle you're alone waiting for Sarah to start-up the chopper. You will be surrounded by Taken coming in different waves. Take all the supplies and ammo you find in the area, use the light turrets near you and keep the Taken far from you, giving them your best shots. Use everything you have, as you will lose all the equipment in the next section. As soon as Sarah says that you're leaving, run to the chopper and leave the remaining taken alone.
If you die, simply restart the Episode.
  • You managed to make it all the way from the dam to Cauldron Lake without firing a single bullet.

    Episode 6 Missable

To get this trophy, you need to reach the last part of the Episode (the fight with the Tornado) without shooting any bullet. This means you're not allowed to kill enemies with guns, rifles or flaregun.

This is easier in Easy mode but it's pretty doable also in Nightmare, as the Episode can be considered as a long car journey. Use the car until you reach the only point where you can't use it anymore and abuse flashbangs and flares on the last part.

If you're trying it in Nightmare mode, the only part that needs your attention is the last one, where you have to deplete the darkness that will block your way to Cauldron Lake. To easily survive that part, simply try to have some flashbangs and flares in your inventory, in order to quickly destroy the poltergeists and the Taken.

Note: If you accidentaly shot a bullet, you can reload the last checkpoint, so there will be no need to restart the Episode.
  • You have peeled 15 Taken off your bumper.

To get this trophy, you need to kill 15 Taken with your car.

The first car will be available in Episode 2, near the ending. Once inside the car, if you press cross.png, you will focus the light and be able to remove the darkness from the Taken just like the torch. Once the darkness is removed, you can kill the Taken by running over them.

Do this 15 times and the trophy will unlock.

Don't waste time farming the kills in Episode 2, as you will have many opportunity during the game, specially in Episode 6.

You can check how many kills with cars you have by going to pause -> statistics.
  • You have discovered five of the hidden chests.

See Collector's Edition trophy_silver.png  for info
  • You have discovered all of the hidden chests.

See Collector's Edition trophy_silver.png  for info
  • You have discovered 25 manuscript pages.

See Collector's Edition trophy_silver.png  for info
  • You have found every manuscript page in Normal mode.

See Collector's Edition trophy_silver.png  for info
  • You have found every manuscript page in the game.

In Alan Wake there are many collectibles scattered around the Episodes. You need to find all of them in order to unlock various trophies:
    • Can Pyramids: you need to shoot only 5 of them to unlock Carny trophy_bronze.png
    • Hidden chests: those are chests that contain a high number of supply and ammo. They can be found by following indications that will appear only with the light of the torch. There are 30 of them and you must find all of them to unlock Finders Keepers trophy_bronze.png and Every Nook and Cranny trophy_bronze.png
    • Coffee Thermos: there are 100 on them and they're the "hardest" collectibles to find. You need to find all of them to unlock Damn Good Cup of Coffee trophy_silver.png and Hypercaffeinated trophy_silver.png.
    • Radio Show: there are 11 radios that you must turn on in order to unlock this trophy. You don't need to listen to all the shows, just turn on the radio for the trophy. You need all of them for KBF-FM trophy_gold.png
    • TV Shows: there are 14 TVs that you must turn on for this trophy, like the radios. Some of them, will automatically turn on when you reach a certain point of the story. You need all 14 to unlock Couch Potato trophy_gold.png
    • Point of Interest: there are 25 of them and they orvide informatio about the story and the culture of Bright Falls. They can be advertising, history signs, manifests, so try to interact anytime you find something. You need all 25 to unlock Bright Falls Aficionado trophy_gold.png
    • Manuscript: there are 106 pages of the manuscript scattered around the area: 91 can be found on any difficulty, while the last 15 can be found ONLY IN NIGHTMARE. You need to get all of them to unlock Paging Mr. Wake trophy_silver.png and Picking Up After Yourself trophy_silver.png
To unlock all collectible trophies, you need to find 291 collectibles in total. This may look like a very high number but if you explore every corner of each area, you should be able to find almost all of them even without a guide. The hardest ones are the Thermos and the Point of Interests, as the first are quite small and sometimes well hidden, while the latter can be hard to see because they're quite camouflaged with the backgrounds.

The good thing with the collectibles is that once you find it and reach a checkpoint, it will remain even in the next playthrough, so you don't need to find it again. But if you die before reaching a checkpoint, you need to get it again.

As I wrote in the roadmap, I suggest to start looking for collectibles during the first run on Easy/Normal and then use a guide in the next Nightmare run. But if you already finished the game once, feel free to use a guide as soon you start the first run.

There are a high number of text/video guides around the web, I personally used the video guides of Fido1337 on youtube:
  • You have found 25 coffee thermoses.

DLC: The Signal

8 trophies

  • You found Barry, or at least the next best thing.

    Story-related, can't be missed

During your journey through the DLC, you will find a second manuscript page. Once you take it, a series of words will scatter through the area. Illuminate them with the torch and the word "friend" will unlock this trophy.
  • You found the point of contact with Thomas Zane.

    Story-related, can't be missed

Simply reach the end of the DLC, before the final boss,
  • You defeated the horror at the sawmill in less than 1 minute and 30 seconds.

    Missable

To get this trophy, you must defeat the final boss in under 1:30 minutes. This is a very strict time: you can't die and you must be very quick.

The fight is divided in 4 parts:
    1. Inside the house, after speaking with Zane
    2. Inside the sawmill, with poltergeists and Taken spawning around
    3. second time inside the sawmill, same as first
    4. outside the sawmill, with a poltergeist boat that will stop you.
In order to defeat the boss, you must use the light the same way you would against poltergeist and remove all the small TVs.
To get the time limit, the best thing to do is to use the flashbangs and flaregun for the first 3 rounds and use all the remaining flares and the focused light for the last part with the boat. You will need at least 3 Flaregun ammo (the more, the better) and 3 or 4 flares or flashbangs in order to be able to get the time limit.

Once you remove the boat and reach the final TV in under 1:30, the trophy will unlock.

Since you should not die during the try, this should be done in the second playthrough, where you need to complete the game in one go.
  • You made every furnace cough up its fiery death goodies.

Once inside the church, you will reach a place full of furnaces with the word "Burn". Simply enlight all the words in the area and make them burn.

Beware: if you are too near, you will be damaged. But you can also kill the Taken inside by making the furnaces explode.

There are around 100 of them and the trophy will unlock as soon as you make the last one explode.
  • You made it through The Signal in one glorious go.

This is the hardest and a bit frustrating trophy of the DLC: you need to complete it in just one go, without dying or restarting checkpoints.

The DLC is long around 20/30 minutes and is full of dangerous places. However, using the same strategies for the Nightmare run, it can be done quite easily:
    • Play the DLC on easy!
    • Don't waste ammo or supply with useles fights! Simply skip them like in Nightmare mode by reaching the light
    • Don't waste too much time looking for collectibles
    • use the car during the driving session
    • Abuse flares to make the enemies far away
There are some bad places that could ruin your run. I will list them here:
    • Inside the store on the road:
      • Like the diner, you will be surrounded by enemies in a small area. Dispose the two Taken behind you immediately and then focus on the remaining 3 in front of you.
    • The playground:
      • You will be facing a high number of poltergeists, that will be easily missed and disappear from your sight, hitting you in the back without notice. Try to kill them as soon as possible and run to the fence doors, removing the darkness and escaping fast,
    • BOOM Field
      • The Bomb field is the area full of words BOOM and invisible enemies. Just move fast and safely, trying to not illuminate the words unless you see some enemy near them. You can use the light on the word "fireworks" to help keep the enemies at bay.
    • The Bad Word Field
      • Probably the hardest part of the DLC. The area in question is where the ravens are replaced by flying books. The field is full of words that can make enemies spawn, so you need to keep the torch away from them. Also, you have ravens to deal with. The strategy here is simple: head round the right side, keeping close to the edge and away from words. When the ravens spawn, don't worry about them and just keep moving. Pop a flare on the ground and run for the end.
    • The Boss
  • You completed The Signal without ever entering a vehicle.

To get this trophy, you must complete the driving area without driving any vehicles.

Get this trophy on your first run, as you will need to drive the car to make it through on your deathless run on that part.

You can illuminate the words "Wheels" but be sure to never go inside any of them. Simply walk to the north-west corner of the area avoiding the big poltergeists cars. Once you reach the safe spot, push the button under the light and run to the entrance of the warehouse. You will be chased by poltergeists and Taken, so kill any of them if you want a safe area or simply run and avoid any attack.

Once you go outside the warehouse, you will get the trophy.
  • You found the 10 hidden alarm clocks.

Like the base game, this DLC has 2 collectibles:get all 16 to get both trophies.

Again, use the VIDEOGUIDE BY FIDO1337 in order to get all of them.
  • You found all of your cardboard buddies.

DLC: The Writer

9 trophies

  • You took a little elevator ride.

    Story-related, can't be missed

After the rotating area where you will see some well-known rooms, you will reach an elevator and unlock this trophy.
  • You put your imagination in its place.

    Story-related, can't be missed

Complete the DLC and defeat the final bosses.
  • Make it through the approach to the lighthouse without firing a weapon.

    Missable

The trophy description is a bit misleading. You don't need to complete the DLC without firing a weapon, you must simply complete the last part of the DLC without shooting!

Once you get the last manuscript page from Zane, you will unlock a new memory of Alan and Alice and this is where you must keep your weapons at bay.

From now on, you have to move and reach the lighthouse without using the weapons, relying only on your flashbangs, flares and most important of all, the Lighthouse light! Simply illuminate all the words "CLEAR" in order to make the light hit the hordes of Taken, killing them instantly. Do this until you reach the lighthouse and the trophy will unlock.
  • You made it through The Writer in one dazzling dash.

Like Run-On Sentence trophy_bronze.pngyou need to complete the DLC in one go, without dying and restarting checkpoints.

This DLC is slightly harder than The Signal because of the platforming part: that could be the only breaker of the perfect run. There are some small strategies that can be used to survive the jumps:
    • Try to jump only during the Tornado. For the rocks, you can move from one rock to another without jumping
    • Try to use the small "Bed Net" to move from one path to another, as that is the easier and safest way to move
    • time your jumps, don't rush and take your time
Another bad part is after the big bridge, where Zane will help you by using a tree as a bridge. In this part, you will fight Taken and ravens together and it can be dangerous if you don't stay alert. The best way to end that part, is by killing the first Taken and then cross the bridge. Once the ravens appear and the other Taken chase you, simply run and use the flares to keep them at bay.

For the ending bosses, see Iron Will trophy_bronze.png for good strategies on them.
  • You faced your own demons and gave no ground to them.

    Missable

To get this trophy, you need to complete the final bosses without getting to much damage (try to not get on low health or around 20% of your health). This is quite tricky if you are unprepared and don't know how to deal with the bosses. But if you know what to expect, this can become easier.

First of all, try to reach the final fight with flareguns, flashbangs and as many flares as possible (7 or 8 to be sure, the more the better).

Second thing, you have some chests of Shotgun ammo, revolver ammo and Batteries, so you will have unlimited ammo and batteries. Try to get all of them before the fight with Hartman.

With those two informations, you're prepared enough to take the final battle! It is composed of 6 small fights and they will start once you reach the cabin after the long walk on the catwalk:
    • Barry 1st time: This is the easiest fight. Simply use your focused light and your flares to deplete the darkness around Barry and shoot him with your best weapon (rifles or shotguns).
    • Hartman: From now on, the worst enemies are the ravens. Once the battle with Hartman starts, throw a flare on the ground and start aiming at the ravens, in order to get rid of them as soon as possible, keeping Hartman at bay. Once the ravens are gone, you can focus on Hartman. Use the torch to deplete his darkness and try to stay safe. Use the flares any time he gets too near. He is one of the "fast" Taken, so you have to keep him under control and get the right moments to use the light on him.
    • Anderson's Brothers: now, there are two of them AND the ravens. Again, use the flare and defeat the ravens as soon as possible. Your next move should be to defeat one random brother by using any flashbangs or flareguns you still have on inventory. With good aim, you should get rid of one of the two brothers. Now, use the same strategy as Hartman.
    • Barry 3 more times: Barry again and ravens again. Use flares each time you defeat a Barry and use the torch to deplete the darkness and shoot your best friend until it falls for three times.
If you manage to do all those fights without getting on low health, the trophy is yours.

If you get low health, simply try to restart the checkpoint. Sometimes it works, sometimes not.
  • You made short work of the tornado.

    Missable

To get this trophy, you must complete the "Tornado" section in under 60 seconds. Once you get the manuscript page and the words "BRIDGE" start appearing, the timer will start.

Illuminate the words as soon as possible and hope to get the "Bed Net" at first or second try and jump on it. Once you reach the second path, get rid of the Taken quickly (use flares or try to get him down from the ledge) and move quickly on the second "BRIDGE" part. Again, illuminate the words as soon as possible and try to reach the train cart quickly.

Don't worry about dying: if you die, you can restart the checkpoint and try again. Just be quick and don't waste too much time waiting for the right object to illuminate.
  • You collected all 10 Night Springs video games.

To get this trophy, simply get the 10 collectibles you can find in The Writer.

As always, use Fido1337 reliable videos to quickly get them.
  • You took a weird detour through your imagination.

    Missable

You can get this trophy near the end, before the lighthouse section of the DLC. Once you end the dialogue between Hartman and Alan, you will reach the old crashed airplane. Once you manage to get behind it, start looking for a small trail near the broken wings.

The trail is going down and once you reach the end, you will find a huge Typewriter. The trophy will unlock once you reach it but don't forget to interact with it in order to get some good stuff!
  • You heard what \"Alice\" had to say.

    Missable

This trophy can be gained during the dialogue with Hartman. Simply wait until the end and don't leave the room from the door "Exit". Once the dialogues are finished, the trophy will unlock.
