Welcome to Bright Falls, a quiet and small town near Lake Cauldron in the USA. This town is perfect for a nice holiday, if you just don't go out at night...
In this game, you will play the role of Alan Wake, a famous writer suffering of the infamous Writer's Block. He and his wife, Alice, decided to go on holidays in Bright Falls, in order to clear Alan's mind and make him comfortable, so he can start writing again. Unfortunately, things will not go as planned.
The game is an action game that takes place in the surroundings of Bright Falls, where you will fight strange enemies with the light of your torch and some weapons. You will have access to different kinds of weapons and "granades" that can help you survive the darkness.
The platinum is quite easy to get and is a nice mix of combat trophies, story related trophies and collectibles. In order to help you navigate in this game, I will give you some hints on how to deal with fights and collectibles:
- In order to kill enemies, you need to light them to remove their barrier. You don't need to focus the light on them, do it only when they're very near to you as this will stop them for a small time.
- In some areas, enemies simply respawn unlimited. Just run to the next check-point and avoid wasting ammo and batteries.
- Ammo and weapon will not carry over between Episodes, so don't be too conservative
- Combat and Collectibles trophies will carry over on the different plathroughs and Episode select but they work differently:
- Combat stats: whenever you kill an enemy in a certain way, it will be immediately recorded on a different save file.
- Collectibles: They will be recorded once you reach a check-point. If you die, you need to collect them again.
- At the end of the game, there will be the option to select Episodes, so nothing is missable but for some collectibles, you will need to play again long sections of each Episode.
Walkthrough:
Step 1: Play the game and enjoy the story, trying to get as many collectibles as possible and get some Combat trophies.
Start the game on the difficulty you prefer, in order to unlock Nightmare for the second playthrough. I suggest to play the game on Normal for a bit of a challenge but you can play on Easy, that i can say is not that easy.
During this step, complete the game and try to get as many collectibles and combat trophies you can.
Keep an eye on three trophies that can be earned during this step in order to avoid replaying those episodes:
- Episode 3: don't skip two fights on this episode (see Heavy Metal
and Iron Horse
).
- Episode 4: try to don't die and don't get too much damage during the fight on the stage (see Child of the Elder God
)

Since replaying the Episodes is not so long, i suggest to DON'T USE a guide during step 1 and simply explore the game and try to find the collectibles by yourself. However, the choice is yours.
At the end of this step, you will get:
Follow the Light

Nordic Walking

Bright Falls' Finest

Under a Thin Layer of Skin

Step 2: Play Nightmare mode and get all the collectibles and the missable trophies on Episode 4, Episode 5 and Episode 6:
Once you finished the story once, you should be able to face Nightmare mode. This is easier than it may looks, as you may simple skip almost all the fights and you should be well equipped for the unskippable ones.
During this run, take a collectibles guide for all the collectibles you missed on the first run and the manuscripts pages that can be found only in nightmare (i used Fido1337 videoguides), try to get any other combat trophies you need and be sure to get the "missable" trophies:
- Episode 1 and 5: use the Jukebox on both Episodes (see Drink 'Em Both Up
)
- Episode 4: listen to the recordings in Hartman's room and use the TV during the chase (see Boob Tube
, Medical Opinions
)
- Episode 5: try to not die during the town sequence (see An Idyllic Small Town
)
- Episode 6: try to reach Cauldron Lake without shoting a single bullet (see Gunless Wonder
)

Step 3: Replay Episode 3 and get any other Episode-related trophies you missed + Clean Up

At the end of this step, you will get:
Meet the Deadline

Platinum Trophy

DLC 1: THE SIGNAL
Overview:
- Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10
- Offline trophies: 8 (8
, 0
, 0
, 0
)
- Online trophies: 0
- Approximate amount of time to 100%: 3 Hours
- Minimum number of playthroughs: 2 and maybe some Episode replaying
- Number of missable trophies: 1 Fast and Furious
- Glitched trophies: 0
- Does difficulty affect trophies?: No
The Signal is the first of 2 DLCs that will continue the story of Alan Wake. They're short, less than 1 hour if you know what to do, but you need to play them more than once to get all the trophies.The Signal is a little bit different from the main game, as there will be less safe lights and you will face an high number of enemies all together. You need 2 run to get the 100%, as you need to complete a full run without dying and without using any checkpoints.
Note on the missable trophy: Fast and Furious

Walkthrough:
Step 1: Complete The Signal on any difficulty trying to get all the collectibles. Don't use any vehicle.
For the first step, simply complete the game trying to get all the collectables. Like the main game, you can use a guide for them or simply search them by yourself. Try to learn the location of the enemies and don't use any vehicle when you can.
At the end of this step, you will get:
A Friend in Need

A Friend Indeed

Words Will Never Harm You

License Revoked

Step 2: Complete The Signal in one go without dying on Easy, try to get the last collectibles and defeat the last boss in under 1:30
This is the "hardest" step, as you need to complete the DLC in one go, without dying or restarting checkpoints. This can be a bit frustrating if you start dying, as you have to replay the entire DLC many times. See Run-On Sentence

Also, try to get any remaining collectables by using a guide (Fido1337)
At the end of this step, you will get:
Run-On Sentence

Fast and Furious

Tick Tock

Cardboard Companions

DLC 2: THE WRITER
Overview:
- Estimated trophy difficulty: 4/10
- Offline trophies: 9 (9
, 0
, 0
, 0
)
- Online trophies: 0
- Approximate amount of time to platinum: 3 Hours
- Minimum number of playthroughs: 2 and maybe some Episode replaying
- Number of missable trophies: 5 Go Gentle Into That Good Light
, Iron Will
, Whirlwind
, Creative Space
, Heartbreaker
- Glitched trophies: 0
- Does difficulty affect trophies?: No
The Writer is the second and last DLC that will end the story of Alan Wake. The DLC is very similar to the previous one, with only 2 small changes: more enemies and some platforming session. To get 100%, you have to follow the same ways of the main game and the first DLC: two different runs, find collectibles and finish the DLC in one go. However, this time there are 5 trophies that can be considered as missables because, if you miss them, you have to replay the entire DLC to reach some specific points of the story. See the trophy guide for each trophy description.
Walkthrough:
Step 1: Complete The Writer on any difficulty trying to get all the collectibles and trying to get as many missable trophies as possible
During this step, simply complete The Writer on any difficulty you prefer, trying to find as many collectibles as possible. Also, it will be useful to get some of the missables out of the way, in order to try making a clean run for step 2.
At the end of this step, you will get:
Ding!

Kill Your Darlings

Go Gentle Into That Good Light

Iron Will

Creative Space

Heartbreaker

Step 2: Complete The Writer in one go without dying on Easy, try to get the last collectibles and complete the Tornado in under 60 seconds.
Now, it's time for the one-shot run. This time, this will be a little harder than The Signal, because of the bad platforming part during the Tornado. Try to get the last collectibles, if you still need some, and once you reach the Tornado, try to complete it in under 60 seconds. Play safe and you will reach the end of this DLC and of the first part of Alan Wake story.
At the end of this step, you will get:
No Punctuation

Whirlwind

Licensed Properties

Step 3: Clean Up
If you missed some trophies, simply replay the DLC to get them.
