Special thanks goes to Sherbanator, Shika & Strigon. Without their help and advice this guide would not have been made.
Introduction:
Ace Combat sees you take the role of several pilots involved with a peace keeping force in Africa, however the operation takes a dramatic turn upon the discovery of a powerful experimental weapon. When a renegade Russian squadron steals the weapon and threatens to use it against the United States and Russia, the world is on the brink of a new global conflict.
The game itself is a very good game, missions are long and tend to have a ‘twist’ in them, meaning no one mission is too similar and a variety of objectives help keep the game interesting. The player is not only tied to jets this time around, but also a helicopter pilot, a gunner and even an AC Gunship targeting officer.
Trophy-wise, this is a pretty good list; it’s got a lot of easy trophies but it also has a few that you have to work for and only one trophy which is an unfair grind. Everything is doable so long as you put in the time and effort to practice. In terms of getting the online trophies, if you have some friends and mics, chances are you’ll find it a most enjoyable experience too.
Road Map:
Because the game allows you to get trophies in Free Mission mode you can relax whilst playing this, if you miss a trophy it’s not the end of the world as you can simply select the mission again via the free mission list whenever you feel like it, as well as adjust the difficulty to make it a bit easier.
With that in mind, the Road Map is going to be a little easy on you since you can pretty much pick and choose which trophies you want to unlock so long as you beat the campaign, because you will need to beat all the missions again in Free Mission mode to unlock the Ace of Aces trophy anyway.
Step 1: Beat the campaign mode (ideally on Elite). You’ll find that almost every campaign-related trophy will unlock naturally anyway. You need to beat campaign on Elite to unlock Ace difficulty.
Some players may find Elite difficulty a challenge - even veterans to the Ace Combat series - due to the new gameplay modes that have been added. If your intention is to simply platinum the game as quickly as possible, just start the game on Elite, but if you want to enjoy the game, I would consider starting on Normal difficulty and then doing another campaign on Elite.
Once you beat the campaign you should have all story mode trophies and a good chunk of the mission specific trophies as well as some of the more miscellaneous trophies. Upon beating the campaign mode you will have unlocked the PAK-FA and all other aircraft. This will allow you to go for The Collector and Calamity.
Step 2: Co-Op: The only trophies related to co-op are Warwolf Squadron, Formation Attack and Welcome to Mission Co-Op. So long as you have 3 people in your team you should be able to get Formation Attack very quickly in the first stage and then the other two are just story related.
Be aware, the final mission on Co-op can take a very long time to beat. Make sure your partners have the time to invest into it.
Whilst the Co-Op can be undertaken at any time, I strongly advise that you take it on before you go for the Ace of Aces trophy. The reason being is that getting A ranks in various Co-Op missions reward you with advanced skills/perks which make the Ace of Aces trophy a lot easier. Specifically you’re looking to get “Extra armor” skill.

Follow the advice given in this guide as well as the hints and tips that various other users have submitted in this topic: What we know about getting A ranks on free missions
Step 4: Offline Cleanup: This step is optional, it’s only there if you don’t fancy attempting the online trophies just yet or if you still need to get any offline trophy. Do not worry about getting The Collector until you are ready to head online.
Step 4.5: Quit the game and go to your PS3’s main menu. Select the save file for Ace combat and go to ‘Information.’ You should now see a line that says “Flight Time” - this is the total length of time that you have spent in an aircraft in the game (not at menus). Take a note of the time... now add 50 hours to it, you will now know how far you are away from platinum.
Also be aware, you will need to factor in the time you spent doing Co-Op missions as that time contributes to the 50 hours online.
There is no option either in game or via the Ace Combat website to check how long you have spent online, this is the only way of doing it. The flight time on your PS3 logs all game play time, not just the online. Hence why it’s a good idea to take note before you start going online so you have an idea as to how long you have left/to go.
Step 5: Online trophies: Do not worry about Veteran Pilot just yet, so long as you are connected and in a game online it contributes to that trophy.
All online trophies can be boosted, but the ones I would strongly advise you to boost would be Nice Assist & Nice Save. You need 3 people for these so please use this thread to find a partner: https://www.playstationtrophies.org/forum/ace...op-thread.html
Once you unlock all the online trophies (exception being Veteran Pilot), it’s time to focus on the worst trophy in the entire list.
Step 6: Veteran Pilot: Play the online mode for 50 hours. If you checked your time stamp on your save file previously... go see what it is now, this should give you an idea as to how much you have left to go.
If you’ve not grown to hate the online yet, then just pick various modes and play them, set yourself goals, or go try to unlock various plane skins. Just something to keep you entertained for a while. If you do indeed enjoy the online. Just play it, and in 50 hours time you’ll have your trophy and platinum.
If you do not want to play for 50 hours, see the trophy guide for a more efficient solution.
IMPORTANT NOTE!: DO NOT DELETE YOUR SAVE FILE! Namco games are quite notorious for doing this. Whilst the leader boards display your rank/points etc, the data is held on your local save file, if you delete your save file and then attempt to play online again, the game will NOT download your stats/data, it will remain on the leader boards until you work your way back to that point and exceed it. Deleting your save file means you lose ALL your online progress including the flight time, meaning you have no choice but to start again from scratch. That has not been tested, but it is something that’s quite common in most Namco titles, do not take the risk.
