Introduction

Welcome to Ace Combat 7, the long-awaited installment in the long running Ace Combat series. This is the mainline title in the series since 2011’s Assault Horizon and the first game set in the fictional world of Strangereal since 2007’s Fires of Liberation.

In this game you play as Trigger, rookie pilot for the Osean Federation’s Peace Keeping Force. During your first mission the Kingdom of Erusea declares war on Osea and the Usean nations. You must fight back to reclaim the Usean continent which Erusea has claimed the majority of after their blitzkrieg-like attacks to begin the war caught all other nations off-guard.

Most of the game’s trophies are not difficult to obtain and can be done without being a master at the mechanics of the game. The difficulty in achieving the platinum comes from a few of the trophies requiring much time and effort into achieving as they can be an extreme grind to achieve.

Walkthrough

Step 1- Complete the campaign at least once
Firstly, play through all of the missions in the campaign one time through and try to keep an ear out for some of the mission specific medals. This could be completed on any difficulty but if you want to unlock Ace right off the bat, then play this first playthrough on Hard difficulty.

During this step you will earn:
All story related trophies
 What a Wonderful World
 There And Back Again

Step 2- Complete the Multiplayer trophies
You can complete the multiplayer trophies at any time, but it recommended that you do them before finishing all campaign trophies to make the Highest Achiever trophy easier. All in all, these trophies are not that difficult and should take you around 9-15 hours cumulatively to achieve all of them.

During this step you will earn:
 All Aces
 Globetrotter
 Best of Both Worlds
 Together We Fly
 Last One Flying
 Go Team Go
 All For One
 Going It Alone
 Thirsty For Blood
 Great Job
 Amazing Job

Step 3-Complete campaign trophies
Complete more runs through the campaign (preferably using “restart story” each time as it gives more MRP) on different difficulties. Also focus on getting S ranks on all missions on Ace difficulty as well as learn what each medal requires you to do then obtain them. Also be on the lookout for the named aircraft during the campaigns and do the requirements to make them spawn.

During this step you will earn:
 ACE OF ACES
 Hardened Vet
 High Achiever
 Even Higher Achiever
 The Highest Achiever
 Bird of Prey
 Aircraft Annihilator

Step 4- Grinding!
Beware the Frequent Flyer and MRP Aplenty trophies as they are the biggest hurdles to the platinum. You can earn MRP however you wish but it recommended to do it using ‘Restart campaign’ playthroughs as your distance will count for Frequent Flyer as it will earn you more MRP than free mission. Make sure to use your MRP to buy everything in the aircraft tree but you will most likely have bought everything by the time you are at this point.

During this step you will earn:
 SKIES UNKNOWN
 Frequent Flyer
 Need A Bigger Wallet
 Need A Bigger Bank Account
 MRP Aplenty
 Craft Collector
 Fighter Fanatic
 Budding Buyer
 Regular Customer
 Patron of the Parts

50 trophies ( 11  36  22  )

  • Obtained all Trophies.

Earn every other trophy and take your title as a true ace.

  • Completed all missions in campaign mode on all difficulties.

In order to complete this trophy you must have completed all 20 missions on Easy, Normal, Hard, and Ace difficulties. You do not need to play through the entire story for each difficulty and can therefore use Free Mission to count for this. So long as all 20 missions have a grade and score for all four difficulties when looking in Free Mission, the trophy will pop.

  • Obtained a new medal in campaign mode after having already obtained 4 or more medals.

See The Highest Achiever for more information.

  • Obtained a new medal in campaign mode after having already obtained 9 or more medals.

See The Highest Achiever for more information.

  • Obtained a new medal in campaign mode after having already obtained 24 or more medals.

Whilst playing the different modes of the game, you will unlock medals from completing certain objectives during missions to just simply performing well. Some of these you will unlock simply by getting the other trophies as their requirements are the same. All medals earned count for this trophy’s total count including VR missions if you have a PSVR. This is not required but can help you achieve this trophy quicker. After you have earned at least the amount of medals listed in each trophy, you will need to unlock a campaign medal (of which there are 25) so just keep that in mind. You can see all the medals you’ve earned in each mode in the DATA VIEWER. All medals you can unlock in the game are as follows:

  • Completed all takeoffs, mid-air refuelings, and landings in each campaign mode mission.

There will be a few moments before certain missions where you will complete take-offs or refueling missions, as well as landing after certain missions. You must simply complete them once each and not press the  button to skip them to complete the trophy requirements. For any missions with return lines, completing the landing and takeoff procedures for rearming mid-mission is not required.

  • Destroyed all named aircraft in campaign mode.

Spawning the named aircraft in this game is much different from how it was done in previous entries in the series. In this game you need to perform a certain action in each mission to trigger the named aircraft to spawn. For time based requirements, restart the mission rather than the checkpoint, as well as for the F-15C FANG, as the planes may not spawn if using a checkpoint. These aircraft will not spawn on your first playthrough of the campaign, as well as if you are playing on Easy difficulty so keep that in mind. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > CAMPAIGN DATA > ASSAULT RECORDS

    The named aircraft are:

    • MiG-21 PYRO- Mission 1: “Charge Assault,” destroy the third wave of enemies at once with the 4AAM, 6AAM, or 8AAM. The plane will spawn from the northwest with the fourth wave of bombers.
    • MiG-29 JESTER- Mission 2: “Charge the Enemy,” destroy the control tower before the UAV’s spawn in. The plane will spawn on the runway after the UAV’s spawn.
    • F-16C BAYONET- Mission 3: “Two-Pronged Strategy,” destroy at least 7 aircraft within 100 seconds in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn in the northwest corner of the map after the UAV’s spawn.
    • F-15J RONIN- Mission 4: “Rescue,” Fly under 200 meters until radio silence is lifted after passing through the radar network. The plane will spawn in the northeast corner of the map after the cutscene and will flee west.
    • F-15C FANG- Mission 5: “444,” take at least 51% damage before your weapons are enabled. The plane will spawn in the middle of the map after shooting down the first three bombers.
    • F-14D KITTEN- Mission 6: “Long Day,” fly through the tunnel in the northern base. The plane will spawn in the southeast corner of the map.
    • TYPHOON FAUCON- Mission 7: “First Contact,” destroy all non-targets in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn in the north of the map.
    • F-15E GAZELLE- Mission 8: “Pipeline Destruction,” destroy all oil tanks and facilities before time runs out. The plane will spawn in with the UAV’s in the second phase.
    • F/A-18F SPIDER- Mission 9: “Faceless Soldier,” destroy at least half of the non-target enemies before destroying all radar towers. The plane will spawn in the middle of the map.
    • GRIPEN E LOUVETEAU- Mission 10: “Transfer Order,” Destroy all SAMs in a short amount of time (no exact amount of time). The plane will spawn with the 3 Mir-2000’s in the east towards the end of the first phase.
    • SU-33 IBIS- Mission 11: “Fleet Destruction,” fly through the long gap in the platforms in either the northern or western sections. The plane will spawn on the aircraft carrier and flee northward (will not spawn if the fleet is destroyed).
    • RAFALE M CHASSEUR- Mission 11: “Fleet Destruction,” destroy all fighter jets on the northern platform before they take off. The plane will spawn directly ahead of the player.
    • SU-34 WALRUS- Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive,” prevent Stonehenge from taking any damage from bombers or ground units. The plane will spawn in with the group of helicopters.
    • MIR-2000-5 FOUDRE- Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive,” fly underneath any of the inactive railguns. The plane spawns south of you.
    • A-10C BUFFLE- Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive,” destroy the three A-10’s coming from the east. The plane spawns in the southwest of the map.
    • MiG-31 COMET- Mission 13: “Bunker Buster,” destroy all missile silos in under 6 minutes or so (time not exact). The plane spawn in flying away to the south after the mission update.
    • SU-47 GADFLY- Mission 14: “Cape Rainy Assault,” Fly through the canyon in a short amount of time. The plane will spawn in with the SU-35S’s later in the mission.
    • SU-37 SERPENT- Mission 15: “Battle for Farbanti,” earn 17,000 points in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn in the middle of the map when only 5 minutes remain.
    • F-2A BOGEN- Mission 15: “Battle for Farbanti,” Destroy the Aegis Ashore near that spawns on land near the end of the mission. The plane will spawn to the south and attempt to flee south.
    • SU-35S AXEMAN- Mission 16: “Last Hope,” earn 10,000 points. The plane will spawn in the southeast of the city and will be marked as UNKNOWN.
    • F-35C MANTIS- Mission 17: “Homeward,” fly very close to the mass driver rail from end to end in the first part of the mission. The plane will spawn with the bombers and fighters.
    • YF-23 LYNX- Mission 18: “Lost Kingdom,” destroy all enemies en route to the castle and reach it in under 3 minutes. The plane will spawn slightly north of the castle as soon as you are near it.
    • SU-57 CALAMITY- Mission 19: “Lighthouse,” earn 17,000 points in the first part of the mission. The plane will hold position slightly outside the out of bounds line to the south of the map. Bring in long range weaponry to take it down. The plane is stealth so you will need to be close to it to see it.
    • F-22A TEMPEST- Mission 19, “Lighthouse,” earn 20,000 points in the first part of the mission. The plane spawns southwest of the space elevator.
  • Flew a total of 76,500 km in campaign mode.

    Major Grind Warning

This trophy may not sound too bad initially but once you realize how much distance this actually is, you’ll realize why this will be one of the last trophies you will earn. After 4+ playthroughs, you will likely only be at 35,000 km flown in campaign. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > CAMPAIGN DATA and your total flight distance will be on the first page. You can keep playing campaign missions to rack up distance and MRP if you want, but there is another way to earn this trophy.

In order to earn this trophy the easier way, all you will need is a rubber band and something to hold down your button. After achieving all other trophies in the game (unless you want to earn MRP Aplenty in multiplayer) you will have to grind in Free Flight. You will want to pick a mission with little to no clouds (I suggest “Long Day”) in Free Flight and pick the MiG-31B as your aircraft. Turn the controls to “simple” and equip the Light Bisk, Next Gen High Pressure Component, Variable Cycle Engine, and Queen’s Custom parts. Rubber band your left analog stick to the right in a way that you will stay at the same altitude, and place some kind of heavy object to jam down the button, then leave the controller alone for the 30 minute mission. All of the distance that your plane travels during the 30 minutes your plane is flying itself will count for your overall total. You will only travel about 1,710 km on average during this session, so do not use this right off the bat in the game as even using this method you will need to do many of these Free Flight missions to get you up to 76,500 km total regardless of your total before doing this method.

Here's an alternative method, courtesy of fadingtrails:

Your aircraft's top speed will increase by over 350kph the higher you fly so at around cloud level, the Foxhound's speed will be 3540kph. At 11.000 km its top speed will be 3895kph. Just get to 11.000, press + to engage auto-pilot and level the craft, then - if you want to - use a wide and strong rubber band to keep and pressed. You want to use yaw because using the will cost you speed.

  • Destroyed a total of 3,000 enemies in campaign mode.

This trophy will come naturally as you do your multiple playthroughs for the Hardened Vet trophy. Depending on your piloting skills in your first playthrough, this will likely either pop during your second or third playthrough. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > CAMPAIGN DATA > CAMPAIGN RECORDS > KILL COUNT.

  • Played multiplayer mode for the first time.

This trophy will pop after you reach the results screen of your first multiplayer match, regardless of mode or outcome.

  • Played all maps in multiplayer mode.

There are six maps that you will need to play in order to achieve this trophy. You should be able to play on most of them through normal gameplay, but if not, then create your own lobby and set the map to whatever map you are missing.

    The maps are:

    • Anchorhead Bay
    • Fort Grays Island
    • Roca Roja
    • Waiapolo Mountains
    • Yinshi Valley (Day)
    • Yinshi Valley (Night)
  • Played a match using Team Death Match and Battle Royal rules.

For this trophy you need to simply complete one match of Team Deathmatch and one match of Battle Royale. The result here doesn’t matter so just simply play until the end of the match.

  • Won a Team Death Match.

Team Deathmatch game mode is self-explanatory, 2 teams of up to four players battle each other for the highest score at the end of the 5 minute match. This mode is much easier to win in than Battle Royale as you do not necessarily need to be good to win here. As long as your teammates are good, they can carry you to a victory as the trophy is not for being the MVP of the match.

  • Came first in Battle Royal.

Battle Royale game mode is simply a Free-for-All game mode where you fight against 7 other pilots for top spot. You gain points from simply damaging enemies as well as shooting down enemies. If you do not do well at this mode at first, do not worry as 50 matches minimum is enough for you to get better at the game and come closer to winning. Play around with some of the room settings like cost limit if you are having trouble competing against players in high-end planes.

Just be patient and you should win a match sooner rather than later. However, if you are coming very close to 50 matches played and have not achieved a victory in this mode, you can find a partner here and set up a 1v1 Battle Royale game in a private room to boost the trophy.

  • Sortied 20 times in Team Death Matches.

See All for One for more information.

  • Sortied 50 times in Team Death Matches.

For this trophy you need to simply complete 50 matches in Team Deathmatch. If you leave early the match will not count so you cannot use that strategy to make this trophy quicker. The result of the match does not matter, as long as you finish 50 Team Deathmatch games. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > MULTIPLAYER DATA > MULTIPLAYER RECORDS > SORITE DATA.

  • Sortied 20 times in Battle Royal.

See Thirsty for Blood for more information.

  • Sortied 50 times in Battle Royal.

For this trophy you need to simply complete 50 matches in Battle Royale. If you leave early, the match will not count, however you can join games already in progress so long as you stay until the end of the match. The result of the match does not matter, as long as you finish 50 Battle Royale games. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > MULTIPLAYER DATA > MULTIPLAYER RECORDS > SORITE DATA.

  • Obtained 50 performance evaluations in multiplayer mode.

See Amazing Job for more information.

  • Obtained 150 performance evaluations in multiplayer mode.

You earn performance evaluations for multiple different things done during a match, which are usually being the best or worst in a certain category (example: highest accuracy with machine guns and lowest accuracy regardless of weapon are two performance evaluations). You will achieve well over 150 before you complete the 100 matches you need for All for One and Thirsty for Blood since you will likely get multiple per game regardless of skill at the game. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > MULTIPLAYER DATA > MULTIPLAYER RECORDS > PERFORMANCE EVALUATION.

  • Obtained 5,000,000 MRP in total.

See MRP Aplenty for more information.

  • Obtained 25,000,000 MRP in total.

See MRP Aplenty for more information.

  • Obtained 40,000,000 MRP in total.

    Major Grind Warning

MRP or Military Result Points are your main form of currency in unlocking new aircraft, special weapons, and equipable parts. You earn MRP for everything in the game, playing the campaign, playing the multiplayer, and as might be expected, you receive more the better you do in each mode. Unfortunately this amount is an extremely high amount compared to the price of buying everything on the aircraft tree, which costs about 32,000,000 MRP. Once you are done with all other trophies, try to grind this out however you wish, multiplayer or single player, but playing in single player works best if you are still trying to obtain Frequent Flyer. Regardless this will be one of the last trophies you earn for this game. To check you progress on this, go to DATA VIEWER > MULTIPLAYER DATA > MULTIPLAYER RECORDS > ACCUMULATED DATA or DATA VIEWER > CAMPAIGN DATA > CAMPAIGN RECORDS > ACCUMULATED DATA.

  • Obtained 5 or more aircraft.

See Patron of the Parts for more information.

  • Obtained 20 or more aircraft.

See Patron of the Parts for more information.

  • Obtained a total of 15 aircraft, special weapons, and upgrade parts combined.

See Patron of the Parts for more information.

  • Obtained a total of 100 aircraft, special weapons, and upgrade parts combined.

See Patron of the Parts for more information.

  • Obtained all aircraft, special weapons, and upgrade parts.

For this trophy you need to buy everything available on the aircraft tree. This will cost you around 32,000,000 MRP to accomplish. Buy everything that you want to use firstly, then afterwards go through the tree slowly buying everything in one branch to ensure that you have purchased everything available to you.

    Complete Mission 20: “Dark Blue”

  • Completed all campaign mode missions on ACE difficulty with an S rank.

Ace difficulty returns in this Ace Combat game, however it is notably different than previous entries into the series. Whereas other games made this difficulty harder by making the damage you can take minimal, your damage threshold is quite similar to that of the Hard difficulty setting. The main difference for Ace in this game is that enemies fly much more aggressively which will make your job of hitting them much harder, but otherwise it is functionally similar. In order to unlock Ace difficulty, you will first have to beat the campaign on the Hard difficulty setting.

The S rank requirements are similar across all modes and will require you to obtain high scores and complete the missions in short amounts of time. The below requirements are the minimum scores needed to get S rank whilst the times are the highest time bonus you can receive which you also need to receive to get S rank. The time bonuses decrease by 40 points/second (except where otherwise noted) so for every second you are above the minimum time limit, you will need 40 points added to the minimum score to obtain S rank. Obviously efficiency, knowledge of the levels, and higher end planes are all very helpful in achieving this, so don’t feel discouraged if you don’t get it in your first attempt. Also restarting at checkpoints refills ammo and resets damage without affecting your score, so do that if you are in need of repairs or more ammo. However this does not reset your time so do this immediately after hitting a checkpoint (they are almost always immediately following a cutscene).

Mission 1: “Charge Assault.” 12,500 points in under 6 minutes
Try to use your special weapons as much as possible to cut down on time. Destroy most of the escort fighters as they will not pose a threat and are easy to take down.
Mission 2: “Charge the Enemy.” 11,000 points in under 6 minutes 15 seconds
Destroy everything in sight on this level as quickly as possible. Use whatever tools you prefer to do this.
Mission 3: “Two-Pronged Strategy.” 16,360 points in under 9 minutes
The best part to rack up score is destroying UAV’s while the objective is to attack the Arsenal Bird as they will spawn infinitely. One the UAV’s become the targets, there will only be a finite number of them.
Mission 4: “Rescue.” 17,560 points in under 10 minutes 30 seconds
Take both available short cuts through the radar network in the beginning. Destroy all ground targets in the second half of the mission. In the final sequence, pick off as many MQ-101’s you can while taking out any that trail the target.
    Mission 5: “444.” 16,960 points in under 8 minutes
Try to take out as many of the escort fighters as you can while managing the bombers and you should be able to accomplish this.
Mission 6: “Long Day.” 27,000 points
Aim for the airstrip (western base) and the northern base first as they have aircraft circling them which are worth many more points than ground targets.
Mission 7: “First Contact.” 5,450 points in under 12 minutes 30 seconds
The time bonus drains by 50 points/second in this mission. Destroy all targets and non-targets in the first phase. Try to pick off as many UAV’s as you can without having to chase one around constantly.
Mission 8: “Pipeline Destruction.” 27,950 points in under 10 minutes
The time bonus drains by 50 points/second in this mission. Aim for the oil tanks in the first phase as they explode and take out anything near them. In the second phase you will want to down as many UAV’s as you can without becoming too focused on them.
Mission 9: “Faceless Soldier.” 11,760 points in under 11 minutes
Destroy as many of the regular ground targets and helicopters as you can in the first phase whilst still maintaining a fast pace.
Mission 10: “Transfer Orders.” 7,760 points in under 12 minutes
Try to destroy as many camouflaged AA sites you can in the first phase. Also destroy all fighters in this phase as they are worth more points.
Mission 11: “Fleet Destruction.” 40,000 points
With either of the long platforms, aim for the CORE in the center of each platform piece as all AA defenses up top will be destroyed and count for your score.
Mission 12: “Stonehenge Defensive.” 34,670 points in under 16 minutes 30 seconds
Destroy everything in sight in the first phase. In the second phase destroy the main propellers ASAP as soon as the Arsenal Bird is vulnerable, then continue picking off UAV’s until the cutscene plays.
Mission 13: “Bunker Buster.” 18,760 points in under 7 minutes
Try to destroy as many ground targets and all planes in the first phase as possible. Try to destroy one or two fighters in the second phase but focus mainly on the missiles.
Mission 14: “Cape Rainy Assault.” 13,960 points in under 9 minutes

Mission 15: “Battle for Farbanti.” 35,300 points in under 12 minutes 30 seconds
Try to take out the aircraft to the south of the map primarily in the first phase, then shoot for maximum efficiency. One shot on him after Wiseman goes down should end the mission.

Identify all targets along your ally’s route first, then focus on all other targets and destroy all enemies.
Mission 17: “Homeward.” 25,070 points in under 15 minutes 30 seconds

Mission 18: “Lost Kingdom.” 11,450 points in under 12 minutes 30 seconds
The time bonus drains by 50 points/second in this mission. Destroy all ground targets and planes in the first phase before SOL shows up, then down two of their planes. This should give you ample time to battle Mihaly.
Mission 19: “Lighthouse.” 50,660 points in under 20 minutes 30 seconds
Destroy as many planes as you can within the time limit in the first phase. In the second phase try to destroy a majority of the planes flying escort to the Arsenal bird before fully destroying it.
Mission 20: “Dark Blue.” 12,500 points in under 10 minutes
The time bonus drains by 50 points/second in this mission. You will need to destroy at least 3 of the Weapon UAV’s to even have enough points for this. Keep your time limit in mind while you battle the ADF-11’s as it can be a real killer for S ranks here.
