Introduction:

8Days - Peace is our Business is an 8-Bit twin stick shooter in the vein of Hotline Miami but with some bullet hell added in for good measure. Developed by Santa Clara games the game sees the mercenary forces of G.O.D. Inc fight against global nuclear threats, Middle East fighters and city riots. You can play as either:

Mike "Ghost" Doe (40 years old) was born in the wild in Australia, where anything and evrything can kill you. He soon became an expert in learning how to survive. His face was burnt in an accident during his childhood. He has worked on undercover operations and was declared missing in action during the Second Gulf War. Recent intelligence information reports he took part in the Russian forces during the Moscow theatre hostage crisis in 2002.

Lola "Wasp" Cruz (24 years old) was born in the mountains of Chiapas, her mentor was Subcomandante Juanes. She’s survived the paramilitary ambush in 2013 where her mentor died. Since then she has stopped at nothing to find the people responsible who cowardly killed her mentor.

They both play the same and the difference is purely aesthetic so you can choose whoever you feel. Or you can try out the 2x player and have both on the go at once.

Most of the trophies will come relatively naturally as you play through the game with a couple you will need to make small detours for but they can easily be collected using chapter select.

Important Notes to bear in mind before playing

This game is something of a unique case as far as I can tell and it kind of messes things up in a big way if you use the EU PS store. With the last patch for the game the "Mercenary" patch a few tweaks were made to the game adding new difficulty levels and also 3 new trophies. Here is where the problems arise, the NA version of the game is fine everything works as it should but for some reason the new trophies don't unlock in the EU version. It's safe to assume these 3 trophies are properly broken and not just buggy because despite the fact that they will not unlock you will still get the platinum on unlocking the rest of the trophies.

Trophies affected by this are:

Civil down (Unobtainable EU)
No civils killed (Unobtainable EU)
Tic tac, tic tac (Unobtainable EU)

What this all means is you can still Platinum the game with either the EU or NA version but if you are an EU player you will end up with a Platinum with only 95% completion. In your profile it just looks like any other game with some incomplete DLC but when you open the games trophy list its 3 core trophies that are missing. So just be aware going ahead that they will be unobtainable.

From what I can gather the "Mercenary" patch was the last and the game is no longer supported and is in its final state so don't be expecting this to be fixed.

There is a potential workaround if you have already started with the EU version but have access to the NA store. Purchasing the NA version and playing that the lists should merge as there are no stacks for the regions and they share a list. This has yet to be confirmed but I see no reason why it wouldn't work. If you have access to both, then always go with the NA version.

A big thanks to x7eight for all his help verifying some of the details.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Start a new game on Easy, as either Lola or Mike

Choose whomever you wish and start a new game on easy, don't even think about going for No civil killed as it will severely hamper your progress and there is a nice workaround you can use after completing the game to get it with ease so just go all out your first run through the game.

Keep an eye out for medics they have a red cross on them and sometimes don't shoot at you but if you get too close they will kill you, killing these guys will give you a first aid kit you can carry two and have to use them manually. Ambulances fruit stalls and some animals can all be destroyed for health items and other destructible scenery often uncovers weapons.

Guns are the safest bet by far. You won't come out too well relying on melee weapons unless you throw them and even then make sure the enemy is actually dead sometimes the are just stunned. Also, firing from distance gets you through as even if enemies are chasing you they won't fire from too far away but you can still hit them.

In this step you will earn:

Diplomacy wins
Act of piety
First mini-boss defeated
Waterfalls always hide treasures
Caves are dangerous
A game by Joakim Mogren
Snezhok-70 down
Better call Homer
Future is Nucular!
I <3 Hearts
Takezo's Revenge
The Tomb of Yoshiaki
Mazes are fun
Preacher is wrong
Who let the dogs out?
Sniper Range
Don't dead, open inside
You don't stand a chance
Now you stand a chance
Through the looking glass
One shot ...
Arigato
The News
Lola 'Wasp' Cruz (Either/or)
Mike 'Ghost' Doe (Either/or)
Winner
Civil down! (Unobtainable in the EU version)
Tic tac, tic tac (Unobtainable in the EU version)

Step 2: Start a new game as the character didn't play as last time

Use the character you didn't choose first time and run through the game for a second time working towards No civil killed and any other miscellaneous trophies you may have missed the first time through.

In this step you will earn:

Lola 'Wasp' Cruz (Either/or)
Mike 'Ghost' Doe (Either/or)
No civil killed (Unobtainable in the EU version)
Takezo Doraku

This will come naturally at the end of Chapter 1: 'The rice wars'.

  • Follow the light dude!!!

This is earned in the very first area of the game after leaving the cell you are in. Head upwards and take out the guard here and you will see a row of small cells above you. One of them has a prisoner, head inside this cell to unlock the trophy.

  • Now things get interesting

    Video Guide

  • Have you played HassleHeart?

This is found a short way into Chapter 2: 'The Nuclear incident' On the far right of the map there are three rooms with people all sat using computers. One room is to the top and the other two rooms will be below you. To unlock the trophy you need to kill everyone using a computer in these three rooms as soon as the last one is dead you will get this.

    Video Guide

  • Video games are not evil

This is found in Chapter 4: 'The G9 summit'. In the latter part of the chapter you will find a small church building in the top left hand corner of the map you will need to destroy some barriers to reach the top row then head left and enter the church. You will see the preacher and the congregation and two kids playing video games at the front. All you need to do is kill the preacher and this will unlock.

    Video Guide

  • Dog watcher defeated.

This is found in Chapter 3: 'The expendable'. Making your way through the cave network you will have to pass through this area but you can make a break for the exit and not have to fight this guy. For the trophy you will have to take him down though, he is in a well lit room to the right of a long tunnel and is helped out by his dogs they spawn infinitely so don't waste all your ammo fighting the dogs. Lure him out, once he is chasing you back up the corridor you came down keeping him at a distance and you will have no trouble.

    Video Guide

  • What has just happened?

    Story related, can't be missed

This will unlock as you watch a small cutscene at the end of Chapter 3, as you are introduced to the G.O.D. boss.

  • Who controls the media?

    Story related, can't be missed

This will come naturally as you progress through Chapter 4: 'The G9 summit', not long before the final boss.

  • Lola's mission comes to an end

    Story related, can't be missed

Complete the game using Lola as your character to unlock this. Playing co-op will not unlock both trophies only player 1 will receive it.

There is a method of getting this without doing another full playthrough if you used Mike first though. After completing the game once with either character start a fresh new game with whomever you didn't use first time out. Once the game has started and saved do nothing and quit back out to the main menu, from here use the chapter select to skip to the last chapter and complete it again. The trophy won't unlock just yet let the credits roll and then select continue, this time you will be put back at the final boss again upon defeating him this time you will unlock the trophy.

  • Mike's mission comes to an end.

Complete the game using Mike as your character to unlock this. Playing co-op will not unlock both trophies only player 1 will receive it.

  • Win one game.

    Story related, can't be missed

Finish the game with either character and this will unlock upon beating the final Boss for the first time.

  • Innocent people aren't big deal for you

    Unobtainable in the EU version

Simply kill any civilian to unlock, they are everywhere you will get this very early on probably without trying.

  • No civil were killed during your missions, well done!

    Unobtainable in the EU version

This is potentially the most difficult trophy of the game civilians are all over the place to make it worse they are often lots of them during boss fights too. You may find you often have no idea if one has been killed by you off screen or by an enemy. If you attack civilians sometimes the others will retaliate but you cannot count on this as an indicator.

Luckily however the same trick for skipping a full replay works here too, there is still one civilian you need to watch out for however, just before the last boss there are a few doors you can go into two of them lead to a small dungeon and there is a guy in a cell down here. Leave him well alone and you'll be fine. If you do Through the looking glass, you probably don't even need to go in here just be aware that he is there.

Upon completing the game, start a new one with either character let it start and save while remaining idle. Quit out to the main menu and use the Chapter select feature to skip to Chapter 5: 'Confrontation' then you will be able to just beat the final boss again to get this with ease. The same as with the characters endings you may need to actually fight the final boss twice to get this.

  • Great! You prevented the Bomberman from exploding!

    Unobtainable in the EU version

Several of these guys can be found in Chapter 4: 'The G9 summit' and tend to be with the crowds gathered by the barriers in the streets but are far larger than the rest of the people and you should spot them easily. They take a few shots to go down so you have to be quick staying at range works best as they will detonate themselves if they are alerted to you. There are several opportunities to get this as you work your way round the streets.

Secret trophies

  • It's dangerous to go alone, take this

This is found in Chapter 1: 'The rice wars'. Just after earning First mini-boss defeated, you will be making you way along to the right to progress. From the top of the screen will be a waterfall dropping into the scenery below. As you pass it your character is partially obscured by it, while you are under it head upwards to find a secret cave and unlock this trophy.

    Video Guide

  • No pain, no gain!

This is found in Chapter 1: 'The rice wars' after the two sections where you are travelling across bridges you will come to a section with lots of protesters marching around with placards. Immediately before the crowd, is a cave entrance to the north head inside here and the trophy will unlock. There is a rocket launcher, food and two enemies in here it's up to you if you want to fight them.

    Video Guide

  • So long, and thanks for all the Fish
