all these forums are dead. even specific games hardly any threads.   just been on the new call of duty forum and there's about 10 threads, a few years ago there would be page after page!!!

where's everyone gone?, what do they all use now or don't we just ask questions or offer info on here anymore???!?!

Someone should link to the "site has lost its steam" thread and then follow-up with the beautifully timed "like our Facebook" thread. On my phone so not easy to do now, but they explain a lot!

Long story short, for years the site was never upgraded and allowed to go stale as its owner just ignored the community and misread the room consistently. People got tired of it around here and big guide writers got success with YouTube channels.

The site is dead, unfortunately. Or at least the forum side is. It's been an ongoing process over the past number of years. There's many reasons behind it really. Lack of meaningful upgrades to the site over time, lack of guides for big new releases, certain members finding success on YouTube or their own site, other sites drawing in members from here, members moving on from trophy hunting or gaming in general etc.

There's more staff than members here now and even half of them never bother logging on. Site events barely gain any attention anymore. Only a handful of threads ever receive any sort of activity, but even those can go days or even weeks at times without so much as a peep. It's sad, because most of us who continue to log on every so often to browse the forums love the site to bits, but it's dead and there's no way to gloss over it anymore.

If you want my honest advice, head over to psnprofiles if you're looking to engage in regular discussions. It's quite similar in setup to here, so it shouldn't take long to get used to it. Or if psnprofiles doesn't take your fancy you could try psntrophyleaders, or truetrophies. Not sure how the forums are on either of those, though. Psnprofiles tends to be the most active. It isn't always pleasant and most of what goes on tends to devolve into arguing, but it's better than an empty wasteland with no activity at all.

Guides are not the issue, it looks like the cool guides are on XBA now and their forum suck ass too, and died way before ours. Plus, none of the other trophy sites have day one guides. Everyone knows where to look if you need a day one guide.

The fact that they (the owners) don't bother porting their guides over here is telling a lot though, even the ones Webb writes like A Plague Tale Requiem, Deathloop, Saints Row just to name a few of the recent ones. It seems they would only post them here when it's a PS exclusive like Ragnarok so they don't have any other choice. And most of the time whenever they write a guide it's shit anyway, it's just there because they have to write it to continue to get codes for new games, but they don't like to write guides. And it's always filled with 500 useless links just to make more clicks because that's all they care about.

I did not know this, very shitty, but it doesn't surprise me, sadly. Probably for the best. The Skyrim guide Webb had Olsen port over was shite. Ten years later he does TLOU2 and kicks up a right fuss with how much of a mess that was!

I've been here for over 12 years and it makes me so pissed seeing where the site is today.

I asked about this and the reason they aren't posting to both sites (at the moment) is because Google penalizes search results when they are "duplicates" but.. I was told that a solution is being worked on to prevent this from happening which would allow both sites to be posted to. They were trying to be even by posting on alternating sites:

The Callisto Protocol (XBA) - Dec 1

God of War: Ragnarok (PST) - Nov 8 [PS exclusive]

Deliver Us The Moon (PST) - Nov 2

Gotham Knights (BOTH) - Oct 20 (PST) / Oct 31 (XBA)

A Plague Tale: Requiem (XBA) - Oct 17

Superhot (PST) - Oct 7 [this already had a guide on XBA]

Deathloop (XBA) - Oct 3

FIFA 23 (PST) - Sept 30

Saints Row (XBA) - Aug 22

Powerwash Simulator (XBA) - Aug 3

Bright Memory: Infinite (BOTH) - July 21 (XBA) / Jul 30 (PST)

Stray (PST) - Jul 19 [PS exclusive]

etc.

Sure, you could argue that XBA gets more of the AAA multi-platform games but it's not their fault PS has awesome exclusives lol

I didn't ask about this but I understand this. If I remember correctly, they were working with a SEO specialist to help get their search results scored higher. SEO is how a website is successful. If you do a search nowadays for any game guide, you're bound to get one of these websites that has hundreds of tiny game guide articles. I searched "God of War guide" and my top 5 results were IGN, Polygon, The Gamer, GameRant, and EuroGamer. I didn't look at all of these, but I know GameRant and The Gamer are owned by the same company and get high in search results because of these "500 useless links to make more clicks". Website success is gaming SEO so you get more traffic.

Is this why lately I've been getting bamboozled when searching for guides via Google? For example, when I search for a guide for the latest game I get something like this:

k0F7xja.jpg

PST shows up as the top search result. Taking a quick glance at the result you would think that there is in fact a guide for Goat Sim 3 on PST, but when I click on said result I'm greeted with this:

ojHsxBX.jpg

And this isn't an isolated incident. I've tried this with multiple newer games and it's always the same thing. PST shows up as the first search result, appears that there is a guide available for said game and then you get hit with the bait and switch. I don't recall something like this ever happening before when searching for guides, which I do quite frequently.

I don't like it. It's scummy and misleading and is done simply to get a few more clicks.

A link here on PST, notifying us that they have a guide on the sister site, would be enough. I only checked yesterday out of curiosity, and I found out they were having all the cool guides on XBA. I understand if google penalizes them, but if they don't even tell us, they won't get our clicks, so it doesn't make any sense. I would have completely missed the Calisto Protocol guide if you didn't tell me there was one.

Well I guess that's just not what I'm looking for when I'm in need of a trophy guide, I never use IGN, Polygon or any of these sites, but if the site is successful then good for them.

This is my reason, I picked up art again after 20+ years (urban sketching), so that has been my new obession. I barely game now, and if I do it's the same 2-3 games. Getting a PS5 at this point would just be a waste money.

What exactly is the core of the problem in all of this?

is it stuff like:

- No technical support, like coders, graphicers

- Lack of time due to busy real life

- Lack of motivation, because the income is not high enough for the website

- Lack of creativity and passion, like the owners retired from trophy hunting or they don't know what to do in terms of the future of the website?

or is it all of these problems and more?

This website is worth saving in my opinion, i've met so many great chaps on this website, very friendly, very helpfull, really great people.

No other website had a better community than PST.org.  this is a pure fact.

I hope this website rises again like a Phoenix from the ashes and comes back strong with a clear plan and reclaims his rightfull throne.

Cheers

I think changing the site name was very damagin, and letting ppl change their usernames too.

You mean when we changed from PS3Trophies to just PlayStationTrophies? Because that was a much needed change considering we weren't just about the PS3 anymore when the PS4 came out, and that happened in what? Early 2014? This place was still number 1 at that point and absolutely booming, if anything those were some of the best years here in terms of traffic.

This was never an issue, plenty of us with loads of experience offered to help. The changes just took so long to implement that everyone seen it as nothing being done. Especially when there wasn't exactly great communication. Other sites were getting improvements more rapidly and things just slowed down here.

I didn't either, and I dare say a lot of people didn't, but it took probably less than a week before I was used to it and looking back at things now, I don't know how we all endured the old site for so long. I can barely even remember how the old site looked, I just know it was pretty archaic trying to navigate and use it. The update was very much needed for the site to have any chance of staying alive for the foreseeable future. It still isn't perfect by any means, but it's much better than it was prior to the upgrade.

I still say the actual layout or color scheme of the site could just some work...adding in more PlayStation Blue, maybe altering things a bit to look more like our own, rather than every other Invision Community site.

But the change from VBulletin to Invision was much needed. It was a change we wanted for years prior to it happening. This site is so much more intuitive now. It just took too long to happen, and it took too long for the promises to be fulfilled that people settled in elsewhere. And I know a lot of mobile users have issues with Ads and they leave because that doesn't get dealt with (I'm on PC 99.9% of the time, so I can't relate).

I don't really know what it would take at this point to pull people from the competition. We'd have to do something big that no one else is doing, and I just don't know what that is.

Well im hard thinking about moving the custom leaderboard section to psnp, because none cares to post updates here anymore.

But besides that little competition thing, the Site still got Updates and new Posts.

I doubt any way to save this anymore but lets go with it.

They could do more Advise for Events going on here on the Main Page and what i read here about the search results and Guides on the XBA Site but not here say much about the care for this "sister" site.

Yeah, I know that the site has been dead for a couple of years...but I thought that it was just from lack of traffic...but

I just compared online users between psnprofiles and here:

psnprofiles: 1,037 users

pst.org: 1,334 users

Yeah the trouble isn’t traffic, it’s interaction. We have more viewers on the forum but PSNP has more than 3x the number of registered members on the site. And wasaaaay more daily posts. Our 60 online registered members to their nearly 200. Lack of registered members means lack of interaction means lack of conversation means lack of interest means lack of liveliness.

For those of us still on the forums daily, the best we can do is interact with each other and try to be as welcoming and helpful as we can.

Pretty much work and the need to do vast amounts of overtime because of the economic climate have buggered up participation on here and gaming in general.

26 plats this year, I think my worst year of trophy hunting. Lot of RPG/Open World games played though and a few grindy ones but still I'd have done at least 40-50 any other year.
