Let’s get ready to ruuuuummmble! Wait, that’s boxing.

It’s January, and any wrestling fan knows that means it’s time for the Royal Rumble, the best event in wrestling. Well, it is time for the PST Royal Rumble! Battle against your opponents to be the last person standing and earn yourself a title shot at Wrestlemania site award that nobody else will have! Over the course of two weeks, members will enter the Rumble and members will be thrown out based on the daily task for each day.

If you’re not a wrestling fan, the basic idea of the Royal Rumble is that people enter into the ring at regular intervals until all people have entered. They are eliminated by being thrown back out of the ring. For the purpose of our event, people will enter at regular intervals, and they will be eliminated by failing to complete the challenges we set.

The later you enter the rumble, the better the chance you have of surviving till the end. If you want a later entry into the Rumble, I suggest you take a look at the qualifying competition…

When does the Event start?

What must I know in order to participate?

  • To participate, you need to have joined the site on (or before) 1st December 2021 AND have over 50 posts. This restriction is to playstationtrophies.org members ONLY, and becoming a Subscriber negates the post count and join date.
  • We’re not going to limit the number of people who can submit. Anyone that wants to participate, and meets the requirements, can submit.
  • There will not be a sign-up thread. To sign-up you need post in the submission thread with your qualifying trophies (see below), or if you just want to start on the first day without qualifying then post in the submission thread stating so, and that will be your sign-up.

Royal Rumble Details

  • Each day at midnight, a pre-determined number of entrants will enter the Rumble.
  • The entry schedule for the Rumble will be posted before the event, so you will know exactly when you enter in advance. The order is going to be set by the qualifying event.
  • Each day at midnight, the task for the day will be posted (along with the new entrants for that day). You will have 22 hours until 10pm that day to complete the task (we need time to process stuff).
  • Each day at 10pm, a pre-determined number of people will be eliminated from the Rumble based on the task for that day.
  • This continues until all participants have entered, and all but one have been eliminated, leaving us with one winner.
  • You cannot choose which day you enter, and which days you can compete. Once you are in the Rumble you cannot just take a break! Once you enter you are in until you are eliminated.
  • The task each day WILL NOT be a "first come, first serve" task. You won’t be at a disadvantage because of your timezone and the fact you may be asleep.

Qualifying Rules

There have been 30 different winners of the WWE Royal Rumble. The task is to earn trophies that represent the winners by either:

A) Earn a trophy that has one of the names listed below in the title/description.
B) Spell one of the names listed below with trophies

  • Below is a simplified list of the winners. We want any of the words listed in capitals.
  • Complete as many names as you can.
  • You CANNOT do both parts of the same name (i.e. - you could do either BROCK or LESNAR, not both).
  • Spelling has to be consecutive. Different names don't have to be consecutive though, so you could complete one name (DEL RIO) and then you could earn a load of random trophies, and then go and spell another name (CENA).
  • If you find a name below with an "apostrophe + S", that will be allowed (Eg - Randy's).
  • Any word for a non-spelling entry cannot cannot be part of another word. Hulking would not count. Hulk's would count, as apostrophe + S is simply a possessive of the name.
  • At the end of qualifying we will rank everyone by the number of names completed, and that will decide the entry order for the Rumble.
  • If you don't want to qualify for the Rumble you can still enter, but you will be guaranteed to start on the first day.
  • Therefore: the more names you complete, the later you will enter the Royal Rumble match!

Submitting

  • Qualifying Start: Thursday 20th January; 00:00:00 UTC - Countdown to Qualifying Start
  • Qualifying End: Thursday 27th January; 23:59:59 UTC - Countdown to Qualifying End
  • Submit your qualifying entries in the submission thread found HERE
  • You can make multiple submissions, so you don't have to do it all in one go.
  • If you wish to enter without qualifying; leave a message saying so in the submission thread. You will enter on the first day.

Day 1 - 30th Jan.

A Rainbow With No Mayo

We like colours here at PST, but seeing you guys like to ask ridiculous questions like "is strawberry a colour", we are one step ahead of you. Your task is to earn trophies featuring as many of the 7 colours of the rainbow as possible.

Red, Orange, Yellow, Green, Blue, Indigo, Violet.

That's it. Just those seven. Whoever earns the fewest trophies will be eliminated. If there is a tie for last place, the tie-breaker will be trophy percentage.

  • Trophies have to be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 30th January 2022.
  • The word you want can be in the trophy title or the trophy description.
  • You cannot use parts of a word, for instance you cannot use green from greenhouse. Any word separated by a hyphen or apostrophe is fine. Plurals are allowed.
  • English spelling only.
  • You can only use each colour once, so the maximum you can score is seven.
  • One trophy = one submission. If a trophy has two eligible colours in it you will have to pick one.
  • Submit your trophies using the submission thread

4 - Alchemist, Ashtimus, Zetberg
2 - Deceiver, iLion, Meikoro, staytrue1985
1 - LionSquid, Jerry, Slamma, stpatty
0 - Easty, luffybuggy, Velvet

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 2 - 31st January

Trophy Pairs

Earn a trophy pair with as many other competitors as possible. Whoever completes a pair with the fewest number of other competitors is eliminated.

  • A pair is defined as you and another competitor earning the same level of trophy: so bronze/bronze; silver/silver; gold/gold; or plat/plat.
  • You have a 2 minute window to complete your pair.
  • A trophy cannot be used for multiple pairs.
  • If there is a tie-break situation for the elimination spot then the person with the highest average trophy rarity (on PSNP) for the trophies used will be eliminated.
  • All trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 31st January 2022.

7 - Alchemist (w/ ST85, Meik, stpatty, Slamma, LSquid, wf77, iLion)

Day 3 - 1st February

Count Up

Starting from 0, count as high as you can using numbers in trophies. The numbers have to be in order, but you can earn other trophies in between. Lowest number reached is eliminated.

  • Your first trophy must be the number 1 (or the word one), and then you continue from there.
  • The number can be in either the title or description.
  • We will accept the number (1) and the spelling (one).
  • We will not be accepting 1st, or first (or any equivalent).
  • We will not be accepting roman numerals.
  • All words must be in English.
  • We will accept a word that is separated by a dash or an apostrophe (eg - one-eyed or three's). Plurals are also okay.
  • If there is a tie-break situation for the elimination spot then the person with the highest average trophy rarity (on PSNP) for the trophies used will be eliminated.
  • All trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 1st Feb 2022.

Day 5 - 3rd February

3600 Or Bust

Earn any two trophies exactly one hour apart with nothing in-between. The person furthest from the hour is eliminated.

  • All trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 3rd Feb. Just because this is up an hour early doesn't mean you can start an hour early!
  • One hour apart includes the seconds. So 01:05:29 - 02:05:29 would be perfect.
  • We will be using the timestamps on PSNP for this.
  • No trophies in between
  • The person furthest from an hour gets eliminated. If everyone gets exactly an hour then there will be no elimination this round.

  • The trophy must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 4th Feb.
  • The trophy cannot be from a game released in 2022.
  • DLC trophies are fine for this.
  • The person with the highest trophy rarity will be eliminated.

Day 7 - 5th February

A Wizard Casts

What does a wizard cast? Spells! That's right, of course spelling was going to be in here. At least you get it on a weekend, because you might just need every minute you can get. The task is to spell PST ROYAL RUMBLE. All 14 letters. Don't worry, we are nice though, you can have trophies in-between, so it does not have to be in one sequence, they just need to be in the right order.

  • Using the first letter of each trophy, spell PST ROYAL RUMBLE.
  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 5th Feb.
  • You are allowed to earn other trophies in-between your spelling letters.
  • You do not have submit in one go, you can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • You will be ranked by number of letters completed, then number of trophies used (this includes trophies not used as part of your spelling), and then if needed average rarity.

All 14 letters completed

14 (25.27) - Martz

14 (33.03) - wrestlefanatic

14 (36.03) - LionSquid

Day 8 - 6th February

Countdown

What are we counting down? Rarity! Your task is to earn 7 trophies in a row, with each trophy having a lower rarity than the one before it. The loser will be the person whose trophies have the highest average rarity across their 7 trophies.

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 6th Feb.
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • Any trophies are eligible.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Extra Elimination

Everyone will be ranked from first to last for the day 7 event. Everyone will also be ranked from first to last for the day 8 event. Whoever has the lowest combined rank (who has not been eliminated) across the two days will be also eliminated (Eg - if you finish 1st and 1st your score will be 2, if you finish 7th and 7th your score will be 14)!

Slamma eliminated.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 9 - 7th February

Location Location [Location]

Which locations? Just two. Earn two trophies with locations in the title or description. Everyone will be ranked by how far the distance is between the two locations, and the person with the shortest distance will be eliminated.

Any locations in the world will count, as long as when you Google it you get a little map in the results (you need to type the word distance in your search to get the little map):

unknown.png

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 7th Feb.
  • All locations have to be real places, on Earth!
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • Any trophies are eligible.
  • Trophies do not have to be consecutive.
  • Tie-breaker if needed will be trophy rarity.

19,878 - Martz

19,810 - staytrue1985

19,024 - Jerry

15,841 - Alchemist

15,369 - iLion

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 10 - 8th February

Alphabet Adventure

Earn as many trophies starting with different letters of the alphabet as possible. They can be in any order and other trophies in between don’t matter.

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 8th Feb.
  • Punctuation at the start of a trophy will be ignored.
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • Any trophies are eligible.
  • Trophies do not have to be consecutive.
  • If you get all 26 letters, you cannot be eliminated.
  • Tie-breaker (if people get the same score that isn't 26) will be trophy rarity.
  • If everyone gets 26 and nobody gets eliminated there will be a double elimination on Wednesday.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Day 11 - 9th February

ED History

Earn four trophies that add up to 100% rarity. The trophies have to be something one of the EDs have previously earned. You can only use an ED once, so you will use 4 different EDs' history. The person whose score is furthest from 100% will be eliminated.

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 9th Feb.
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • Any trophies are eligible.
  • Trophies do not have to be consecutive.
  • Rarity will be taken from PSNP.
  • Furthest score from 100% is eliminated.
  • If you can get your total to between 99.5% and 100.5% you will be immune from elimination. If everyone gets between 99.5% and 100.5% then it'll be double elimination on Thursday.
  • I would advise you include a screenshot of the rarities with your submission.
  • Regional stacks don't matter. If someone has done the NA version you can do the EU version.
  • Console stacks do matter. If someone has done the PS4 version, you cannot then do the PS5 version.

Day 12 - 10th February

P.S. [I Love You]

No, this is not an event about a young widow who discovers that her late husband has left her 10 messages intended to help ease her pain and start a new life. It's time for an old PST classic. PS stands for Perfect Sequence, and we all love this staple of PST events. Complete a perfect sequence, 4 trophies, in order, in a row. Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum. That's it.

And everyone will be ranked by the average rarity of their four trophies. Highest two averages are eliminated. Bet you're all glad it's a double elimination day now, right!? :D

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 10th Feb.
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • Any trophies are eligible.
  • The trophies do not have to all be from the same game, you can use multiple games for this.
  • Rarity will be taken from PSNP.

4.10 - Krid

8.12 - cbchaos

9.61 - staytrue

14.55 - Martz

42.36 - Jerry

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Day 13 - 11th February

Platinum Poppers

Time to pop those platinums like a can of Pringles! The goal is to pop platinums as close to the other 4 competitors as possible. Your cumulative time between a platinum of yours (any platinum of yours) and the other competitors will be added up, and the person with the longest time will be eliminated (I'll put an example below).

But the kicker is; do you play nice and and just get yourself a nice score, or do you play like a bad guy and try to exclude or even stitch up an opponent? 😈

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 11th Feb.
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish.
  • Any platinum trophy is eligible.
  • You can pop as many platinums as you wish, and pick the ones that suit your score best.
  • You can use one platinum for all your times, or a different one for each time, or any subset within.

martz - 7 hours 20 mins
cbchaos - 8 hours 25 mins
krid - 8 hours 25 mins
russelguppy - 14 hours 52 mins
staytrue - 34 hours 8 mins

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Day 14 - 12th February

To Infinity and Beyond

Two days to go, four people left. Let's see what you have got! What is the largest number you can reach? Can you count to infinity? Well probably not, but you're going to need a damn high number to survive today.

The task is to earn trophies with numbers in. The numbers in every trophy you earn will be added together, and whoever has the smallest number at the end of the day will be eliminated.

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 12th Feb.
  • You can make multiple submissions, and we'd rather you did so we can mark things easier.
  • All trophies are eligible.
  • The number can be in the title or description.
  • No Roman numerals.
  • No words. Numbers must be numbers (so 1,000,000 and not one million).

2,012,011,971,948,008 - Krid
2,012,011,133,219,570 - cbchaos
1,011,010,141,229,034 - Russel

0,000,000,000,000,000 - Martz

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

 Day 15 - 13th February

Trophy Snake

So two weeks of battles of come down to this. The final three. The final battle for the glorious Royal Rumble site award.

Your task is to create the longest trophy snake you can. And what's a trophy snake? You need to create your snake using bronze, silver, gold, and platinum trophies. In order, repeatedly, for as long as you can. If B stands for Bronze, S for Silver, G for Gold, and P for Platinum then your snake will look like this:

BSGPGSBSGPGSBSGPGSBSGPGSBSGPGS.............................

unknown.png

and also, ALL trophies have to be less than 95% rarity on PSNP! If you earn a trophy that is 95% rarity or higher this will end your current snake.

  • Trophies must be earned between 00:00UTC and 22:00UTC on 13th Feb.
  • You can make multiple submissions if you wish
  • All trophies are eligible under 95% rarity on PSNP are eligible.
  • You will be ranked by length of the snake. If there is a tie for first place there will be a period of overtime.

Interesting event idea. I’m Curious how this plays out with the time based rounds. Sounds fun.

Couple of questions - does the spelling having to be consecutive trophies with no other trophies in between? For the names, would something like Hulking count for Hulk?

This event seems too confusing for me, I don't follow wrestling. :p

Can an entrant choose which days to participate? Like for example, since I work every day except Fridays and Sundays, could I decide to start on a Friday instead of a random day?

Also make sure you pay those royalties to Michael Buffer for using his trademarked phrase

  • Spelling has to be consecutive. Different names don't have to be consecutive though, so you could complete one name (DEL RIO) and then you could earn a load of random trophies, and then go and spell another name (CENA).
  • Hulking would not count. It cannot be part of another word. Hulk's would count, as apostrophe + S is simply a possessive of the name.

No they cannot choose. Once you are in the Rumble you cannot just take a break! Once you enter you are in until you are eliminated.

That's what the qualifying round is for.

The more names you get the later you will start (depending how many names others do)

Ah so that's what qualifying is for! Ok this makes a bit more sense now.

I thought that the qualifying round was there so that if you completed 1 name you got to choose when to enter. Like I said before, I don't watch WWE at all, don't care for it since it's all scripted acting. :p

Anybody who doesn't start day one is a coward.

No I'm not just too lazy to qualify why would you think that?

You’re right, only a true champion would be brave enough to start from day one. Anyone else would need an asterisk next to the award if they won it 🤌

Ah so that's what qualifying is for! Ok this makes a bit more sense now.

I thought that the qualifying round was there so that if you completed 1 name you got to choose when to enter. Like I said before, I don't watch WWE at all, don't care for it since it's all scripted acting. :p

Admittedly in this case actually watching WWE would not assist with understanding the qualifier and which round you enter. Just plain old reading the rules will do that for you 😉
