Release date?

Does anyone know if this will be released the same day as the PS5 or sometime later in the year or even next year?

There's been a distinct lack of footage or news regarding a release date, which makes me think it could be years away. Why can't they do a MS and churn out one of these every 1-2 years?!? Madness.

I reckon end of 2021 and here's why:

- we've already seen actual gameplay footage including menu and the tuning shop from the reveal (many things are the same e.g. racing HUD, many of the same tracks etc.) which says to me that they're already quite along the process. It's also unlikely to be 3-4 years off especially when these were the release years for previous games:

GT5 (2010), GT6 (2013) and GT Sport (2017). This suggests a 3-4 year cycle so I think it'll be 2021 to keep the four year gap going.

- the number of updates for GT Sport has dropped off completely (I can't remember when the last one occurred) which suggests to me that they're going to focus all their time and attention to GT7

- Q4 of 2020 and the majority of next year will bring to light pros and cons of working with the new PS5 console. I expect 2021 to give Polyphony enough time to iron out any potential issues they may have found with developing the game and really push for the 240fps that CEO Kazunori Yamauchi wants.

- consumers want a driving game that pushes the limits and offers them bucketloads of content. At the moment, there isn't really a sim driving game on PS4 that does this effectively. RIDE4 does a good job for bikes but Sony and PlayStation fans really need a racing sim and this is where GT comes in.

You've got some interesting points there :) if it does end up being released sometime in 2021, at least it'll be worth the wait :D

Driveclub was a really good racing game, close to but not quite like GT as the driving felt quite difficult :)

And guess what? I was right for once! PS5 launch window along with Ratchet and Clank and the new Horizon game!

That's some positive news, though I wouldn't need be suprised to see a delay. Still hoping it will be a title more similar to GT5 and not mainly around the online aspect. With R&C also being first half of next year though means we are getting some great titles consistently.

I skipped Sport but I'm thinking I'll pick this up so it's great to hear it'll be out sooner rather than later. I'll be super surprised if at least some of these titles don't get delayed though. GT7, Ratchet and Clank, Horizon II and God of War all in 2021?! If Sony pulls that off I'll be stunned 😯

I've played nearly ALL Ratchet & Clank and GT games in their history and they have been rarely, if ever, delayed.

The fact that we got to see lengthy gameplay videos of both games months ago indicates to me that they are far in the development stage and are most likely ironing out any creases so to speak. While GT7 incorporates much of the older GT titles, it also includes many of the same features that are identical as GT Sport e.g. racing HUD so I don't think they would've had to change much.

I'm also willing to bet that Sony wants to kick Microsoft's butt this new gen then what better way than releasing two amazing exclusives - one which is a universally liked racing simulator that now brings back so much of the awesome stuff of older games but also modern features that made GT6 and GT Sport so good.

I really can't wait! I'm working flat out this week at work but when I read the article it put a big smile on my face and made me really happy for the future.

With recent GT titles more often delayed than not, I completely expect that they were aiming for it to be a launch title but knew better than to announce it as such.

I think this is right. Sony were probably pushing them to make it a launch title but Polyphony are notorious for getting every last pixel looking great....it really is over-the-top.

Edit: apparently now the launch window release has been pushed back! They better release it in 2021 otherwise I'll be mad as hell. Nothing worse than being teased a game and having multiple release dates pushed back.

Sounds very promising for what they’re aiming for this game. A fully blown single player experience is what I’m looking for so very happy to read this.

Yeah mate, it certainly sounds pretty good. They seem to be going for the vibes of the older games which is fine by me. It's going to be a bit weird getting back into the series after so long away from it but I'm still hyped for this. Let's hope it drops this year and doesn't see long delays 🤞

Gran Turismo 4 is by far the best in the series in my opinion. Absolutely loved playing that one and is one of my all time favourite games. I always enjoyed just travelling to different countries and entering car manufacturer races plus the b-spec mode 😍

GT7 so far looks like it could be very similar to 4 based on news, rumours and the trailer 😁

Not surprising news but still annoying as I was looking forward to playing it later in the year.

I'm fully expecting a few more games to follow suit. This is disappointing but I suppose it leaves more time for the never-ending backlog

At this point I’d be happy with Ratchet and Clank coming out and Deathloop, then just chip away at the backlog.

Delayed to 2022 😔

Eurogamer article

Nooo! 😩 At least it should be worth the wait.

On the plus side, with a new VR headset to be launched in the next couple of years, maybe this GT game will take advantage of VR more than GT Sport did. Hopefully more games in the future will use VR too🤞
