Introduction

Pack your bags the caravan is leaving soon and we are going on an adventure!

The beloved cult classic of 2003 finally got a remastered edition for the ps4,switch and mobile.

This game is the first in the crystal chronicles series that spawned meany games for the Nintendo DS and WII.

You are a member of a caravan leaving your village at the beginning of each year to collect myrrh a substance that replenishes the powers of the crystal in the middle of your village to keep away the miasma that is deadly to most life forms in this world.

The game steers away from traditional mechanics used in the final fantasy games up to this point and it introduced dungeon crawling elements with a full action combat.

The trophies in general are not hard nor is the game if you progress carefully and don't rush to the end, but it can be extremely grindy and some times it can test your patients with some items that refuse drop.

Luckily there are ways to counter act the bad drop rates with the auto save feature if it is used correctly (refer to the Artifact Collector trophy).

walkthrough

Step 1: Progress through the story and grind each dungeon for artifacts

There 13 dungeons overall and 12 of them get an extra difficulty upgrade after you finish the story.

The first time you visit a dungeon it is set to easy difficulty or as it referred in game circle 1.

Each dungeon has 3 difficulties ( 3 circles ) and each circle has specific artifacts tied to it.

After you finish a dungeon you have 2 years before the tree replenishes its myrrh and the dungeon advances to the next circle this is indicated by the grayed out tree shown in the UI when you approach the dungeon.

After you kill the boss of the dungeon you will be able to collect an artifact to add it to you collection permanently, always refer to the list from the site that is linked in the Artifact Collector trophy to make sure you have everything before you move on to the next dungeon.

There are no artifacts that are missable but if you don't get all the artifacts that drop on a specific circle in a dungeon it may be harder to get it later so make sure that you have most if not all the artifacts before you move to the next dungeon to minimize grind and headaches during the end game grind and making the rest of the game easier.

By the end of this step you should have:

(B) Novice Caravan

(G) Caravan of Legend

(S) A Princess's Gratitude

(B) Desert's Poem

(B) His Memories

Step 2: Starting with end game

After you finish the final story dungeon the game will prompt you to save and after you load your save again you can begin farming better gear in the new difficulties that just unlocked.

Each dungeon can only advance to circle 3, when you go to a dungeon in the post game on each of dungeons selection screens there will be and extra option with the same dungeon but in a different color.

This indicates that this is the hard mode version of the dungeon and the moon like icons under it indicate the circle/difficulty of the hard mode.

Hard mode dungeons are permanently locked in a specific circle so don't worry that you will make it harder for your self if you finish it once and then go to run some lower difficulty dungeons and advance the years.

Each hard mode dungeon offer a new set of weapons and armors but some are locked to specific tribes/races.

There is no need to run every hard mode dungeon for a specific trophy just check the spreadsheet that is linked in the A New Power trophy to see which dungeon drops the best weapon and gear and the materials needed to craft them for your tribe and plan accordingly.

By completing your first hard mode dungeon you will earn the New Journeys trophy and by crafting the strongest weapon for your tribe you will earn the trophy A New Power .

By the end of this step you should have:

(B) New Journeys

(B) A New Power

Step 3: Hard mode artifact collecting and Kill the strongest boss in the game

In this step try to collect every artifact that you may have missed before you face the hardest boss to make it easier for your self.

Try to get the 5 out of the 6 artifacts that only drop in hard mode

The 6'th artifact is the gravity ring which comes from the Lich.

The Lich is the boss you faced in the dungeon Rebena Te Ra and his hard mode iteration when killed will reward you with the Caravan of Great Might trophy and with the gravity ring after some tries giving you your final trophy Artifact Collector.

By the end of this step you should have:

(G) Artifact Collector

(S) Caravan of Great Might

Learned the basics of adventuring from Stiltzkin.

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

After you create your character and start the game you will leave your village to start your journey.

When you first leave your village the game will introduce you to the random event system this game has by giving your first not so random event encounter.

During this encounter you will meet with Stiltzkin the Moogle, and he will teach you about the basics of the game .

I highly recommend following the tutorials and not skiping them.

After you feel confident that you have understand the basics of the game you can talk to Stiltzkin in the tutorial area and end this section of the game earning you this trophy.

Felled the world's strongest monster.

This trophy refers to the hardest boss that you can find in the new Hard Mode dungeons that you will unlock after finishing the story.

[spoiler=187]The dungeon in questions in the hard mode of Rebena Te Ra called Rainy Ruins this is by far the hardest boss in the game but if you get the best gear for you character and all the artifacts he will be a piece of cake.

Before starting the boss keep in mind that there are spells that are mandatory for this fight or you will be unable to harm the boss.

You will need to have fire, thunder and holy on our bars i recommend having the artifact rings that give you the spells permanently plus by getting the holy ring you will have one extra command slot free for other spells or items.

The tactic to kill the boss is easy when you start the fight the boss will be on top of the stairs casting spells from time to time try to avoid them as much as possible if you come here under geared these spells may one shot you or stun-lock you to death.

At the bottom of the stairs there will be an add that must be killed first.

After the add is dead you will find 2 elemental orbs 1 on each side of the room.

You need to cast fire on the one on the left and thunder on the one to the right.

When you manage to deactivate the aura of the orbs by casting the spells the bosses protective shield will go away.

Immediately cast holy on the boss to get it out of the ghost state and make it vulnerable to damage.

Hit the boss until the add re-spawns or it reactivates the orbs to gain the shield back.

Then rinse and repeat the above steps until its dead.

Felled a new monster.

After you finish the story you will unlock Hard Mode for all the dungeons except for the last dungeon Mount Vellenge.

After this point any boss that you kill from the HM dungeons will reward you with this trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/7919/27ba1193-65ac-487a-9984-9ba85cc97f62.jpg Artifact Collector (G)

Acquired all artifacts.

There is a total of 79 artifacts in the game 24 Strength artifacts, 23 Magic artifacts, 16 Defence artifacts, 4 Command slot artifacts, 8 Spell ring artifacts and 4 Heart container artifacts.

This is the big grind of this game.

All the artifacts come from dungeons and have different conditions on how to find them.

There are no missable artifacts

Every time you complete a dungeons a set of artifacts will drop from the boss for you to sellect and get one.

Some artifacts only have a chance to appear as loot after the boss is killed if you get in a specific score range by end of the dungeon.

Some will be found in boxes you open inside the dungeons and appear as extra options at the end.

The bosses always drop four items for you to select they can be ether artifacts, recipes, crafting materials or memory crystals (cosmetic appearance change items).

To avoid any unnecessary headaches when you hunt artifacts play always solo offline.

If you play online the loot pool at the end of the dungeon is shared with the other players in your party and if they get a higher score than you they get to pick an item first meaning that there is a high chance that they will pick the one artifact that you are after and you will be locked out of that option.

Abuse the auto save feature.

Each time you enter a dungeons or you change room the screen goes black the game auto saves.

This can be used to your advantage to farm artifacts and materials.

Just clear the room where the chest or monster that drops the item you need is located from any other monsters.

Exit to a previous screen and re-enter the area the game will auto save.

Open the box or kill the monster if they don't drop what you need close the game and restart it, load the auto save and the chest or monster will be there to try again.

Just do this and you will save a lot of time instead of repeating the dungeon over and over again for a single chance on the item.

The same can be done with bosses.

Some bosses can drop rare artifacts that can only appear after you get a high score.

When you enter the boss room and start the fight the game auto saves.

If your score is in the required range for the artifact to appear but you don't see it on the list don't pick anything just close the game re-launch it and load the auto save.

It will put you at the beginning of the boss fight just kill the boss again and again using the same method until it drops the item saving your self hours from re-runing the dungeon from the beginning.

The link below has a list with all the artifacts and where they drop from.

Keep in mind that all the information for the old artifacts is correct BUT the information about the new 6 artifacts that they added with the remaster is false at the moment.

Artifact List: https://gamewith.net/ffcc-remastered/article/show/21091

The new artifacts can be found only in hard mode dungeons and are:

Fetsu-no-Mitama (Strength) drop location: chest drop in Foggy Swamp south east part of the second map

Stardust Rod (Magic) drop location: chest drop in Miasma pit

Royal Crown (Defense) drop location: chest in the second area of Misty Mount Kilanda

Holy Ring (Spell ring) drop location: chest drop in Miasma pit (second room on top of the ramp)

Gravity Ring (Spell ring) drop location: chest drop in the first area of Misty Mount Kilanda

Meteor Ring (Spell ring) drop location: boss drop from Rainy Ruins need 300+ score

note that there maybe more drop locations that are unknown at the moment.

At the beginning of each dungeon run the game will assign you a random secondary objective and by doing this you will earn extra points.

This is essential for achieving the high scores needed for the boss artifact drops.

The 2 best and easiest options you should go for are:

Inflict Damage

Pick up Items

Both can offer a maximum of 100 extra points at the end of your run and both are things that you will do anyway to progress through the dungeon.

If you don't get the objective that you want simply exit back to the world map and re-enter the dungeon until you get the one you want.

Saved the world from the miasma.

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

This will unlock after you finish the last dungeon of the game Mount Vellenge and it can be done as soon as year 5 although I advise you not to rush to it the final boss of the game can be a bit hard if your stat are low and your gear not up to par.

I will abstain from posting information about this dungeon since everything can be a major spoiler.

You can always find a video on youtube if you are curious and remember to keep in mind what happens in the random events around the world memories can help you.

After killing the boss this trophy is yours.

Saw all Missing Princess events.

This is not missable but if you leave it for later it may be a pain to come back to it because it requires specific steps to be taken so try to start it as soon as possible on your first or second

visit to Alfitaria the second town that you find on your travels and the city on the third map after you pass the second miasma stream.

Below is a step by step guide on how to complete this quest

[spoiler=232]

Step 1:Go to Alfitaria and talk with Knocfelna

He is patrolling on the left side of the city near the stairs where two guards are standing on top of and block your way.

He moves all the time so don't be discouraged if you don't find him at first just wait near the bottom of the stairs and soon he will pass in front of you.

He looks like a Lilty with a huge mustache.

Step 2:Complete a dungeon to get a drop of myrrh and return to Knocfelna

He will tell you to save the princess that's you queue to move to step 3

Step 3:complete dungeons to advance the year until an odd numbered year comes up and talk to Odow in Marr's Pass

Marr's Pass is the first city you will find on your journey on the second map you visit.

when you enter the city from the south entrance on your right there will be a Lilty weapon smith during odd numbered years in the tent that is located a little bit to the lower left side of the weapon smith a Selkie merchant will spawn you will be able to find him during year one if you visit the town and look around.

In front of the merchant an other Selkie character will be there with green hair that's the one you are looking for.

Talk to this character and she will tell you about a maiden.

Keep talking to her until she tells you about the maiden if the dialog doesn't come up at first.

Step 4:Complete a dungeon to get a drop of myrrh and go to Jegon River's east bank

This location is on the second map to the left, if you have been there before its a place with a docked boat.

In front of the wooden dock you will find a female character that was never there before on previous visits.

Talk to her and move to the next step.

Step 5:Exit to map and re-enter the same area

On the same spot where the female character was you will find Knocfelna and his magnificent partner in crime Diadra

Talk with Knocfelna to advance

(optional) Admire Diadra the magnificent!

Step 6:Complete a dungeon to get a drop of myrrh and go to the Fields of Fum on the west side of the Jegon River

After you get a drop of myrrh come back to Jegon River's east bank and ask the the ferry man to get you to the other side of the river.

Side note: If the river is dried up you will not be able to advance to the next stage of the quest.

If this is the case for you then you have to complete the dungeon Veo Lu Sluice for a second time which means getting a second drop of myrrh from it.

On your first visit to the dungeon there will be areas that are filled with water.

On you second visit these areas will be dried up and you will be able to walk in them and get the treasure chests that where previously inaccessible.

If those areas are dried up then you are on your second run and after you complete the dungeon the water flow will be restored to the river.

keep in mind that in most dried up areas there will be huge green roots that you need to cast Raise or use a Phoenix down on them this is important because if you don't the water flow will not be restored upon completing the dungeon.

Alternatively the water flow will be restored after year 8 by it self.

Exit the area and on the top of the first cross road is the town named the Fields of Fum.

Enter the town.

On the south west side of the town you will find Knocfelna with the female character and off course Diadra will be there too.

Talk to both Knocfelna and the female character.

Step 7:Complete a dungeon to get a drop of myrrh and go to Leuda

After you get the drop of myrrh head back to the docks and ask the ferry man to get you to Leuda.

In the town of Leuda on the north west side you will find all the characters you found in the the Fields of Fum.

Same as before talk to both of them.

Step 8:Complete a dungeon to get a drop of myrrh and return to Leuda

The fastest way to complete this step is to do the dungeon that is located next to Leuda the Lynari Desert but you can do any other dungeon for the drop if you find this one hard to complete.

Come back to to Leuda and again speak with both characters.

Leave from the top exit of the village.

A cut-scene will play.

Re-enter Leuda and ask the ferry man to get you to west side of the Jegon River.

Step 9:Go back to Alfitaria

Head back to Alfitaria and go straight up north there you will find the princess talk to her and you will get your reward 100.000 gil and the trophy

Saw all Gurdy the Swindler events.

Story Related. Cannot be missed.

Both this trophy and the trophy His Memories will be earned in a similar way.

each time you complete a dungeon and get a drop of myrrh the game will make more random encounters available to be triggered when you travel on the world map.

A lot of these events are small self contained stories that take one or two random encounters for them to tell the full story.

The story of the black knight contains 6 events and the story of Gurdy 5 events.

You should encounter all of them by year 7 and having collected 18 drops of myrrh overall.

If for some reason the events haven't triggered by then don't worry, sooner or later they will trigger by moving around the map to get to dungeons for grinding artifacts that you missed.

If an event gives you a choice don't worry about it no matter what you choose the trophies will unlock when you see the last event.

If think that you need more details about all the events you can always look on the site bellow just keep in mind that it may contain spoilers.

Collected an ultimate weapon.

This trophy may mislead you if look online about the ultimate weapon for the game because most of the information that comes up is for the old gamecube version.

Don't read any of it the best weapon of the old version is still obtainable in the remaster of the game but its not worth it and it will not give you the trophy it will only add about 20-30 extra hours to your play time and make you waste a lot of money.

To get this trophy you need to craft the best weapon for you tribe/race of your character that have been added with the remastered version of the game.

The recipes for these weapons drop from bosses in the new Hard Mode dungeons and the materials usually drop from the same boss or monsters in the same dungeon there are some exceptions where the materials drop from other dungeons.

For example i played as a Clavat character and i got the recipe for the twilight weapon from the boss in the dungeon miasma pit.

After that i farmed the Ogre in the first room of miasma pit so i can get the materials (adamantite and scarletite) using the auto save method.

After that i crafted the weapon with the materials I obtained and 65.000 gil and the trophy poped.

Bellow i included a link to a spreadsheet made by JustDevin#8933.

There you will be able to find the best weapons for your tribe, armor, accessories and any other item you may need, where they drop and where you can find the materials to craft them.

Make sure to drop by there discord and say thanks.

credit for the spreadsheet goes to Discord user JustDevin#8933

Keep in mind that the lists are still getting updated every day by the time of writing this guide.

If you cannot find the location of the item you need you can always ask in the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles discord ( https://discord.gg/jTf94A ) or wait for it until it is added to the list.

First, I'd say replace "circle" with "cycle" across the whole guide. Not sure where you got circle from, but typically they're referred to as cycles.

For Step 3 of your roadmap, that Lich boss in Hard Mode is called Testament, so you can use that if you want to be specific, and he drops the Meteor Ring, not the Gravity Ring.

When you're describing the boss fight for Caravan of Great Might, you mention that you use fire/thunder to destroy the orbs. I never knew that worked, I only ever used Holy on them. So maybe the type of spell doesn't matter. Another thing to add is that when you first cast Holy on the boss, use Gravity immediately after that to take off 10% of its health for free. In the normal version of the fight, it would take 50% off, but it only does 10% in Hard Mode. Only works once though.

  • 1 month later...

You said that none of the artifacts are missable, but according to the chart in the link you posted, there are 3 artifacts that aren’t available anywhere in cycle 3. So wouldn’t those be missable? Even though it’s highly unlikely you wouldn’t have them before you get all dungeons up to cycle 3.

Nope. The three missable artifacts you’re thinking about (buckler, rune staff, book of light) can be obtained in the post game dungeons. On top of that, they’re actually updated to appear in certain cycle 3 dungeons. This is a link for some updated info on those former missable artifacts:
