SoPoF
Did they just randomly pick a whole bunch of nonsense that does nothing for the game except make it more annoying? Anyways, guess this means going solo. Companions drop like flies and it's permadeath for them. Smart move for a game that doesn't let you control or even heal them, feels great to have to restart a section because the dumb AI thinks it needs to rush into death as soon as an opportunity is available. (I got the heal companions and even revive them skills/perks on my run on normal and it didn't work at all, so not sure I want to invest into those again.) Anyone already has a few good pointers about how to do this the best?

Anyone already has a few good pointers about how to do this the best? Was going to ask the same thing, mainly a good build (where to put points, perks, etc.). Going solo might be the answer. I can see companions being a pain in Supernova (haven't tried it yet) but so you know, you have a little bit of control over them. You can order them to attack or hold back, and if they aren't listening, try to set their behaviors to "defensive" or "passive." You can also tell them to use only ranged so they stay back out of trouble. That might help a bit.
Gage
For mine I just turned them to passive and always had them stay away in the few situations where I needed to actively fight enemies. You can make them move to a specific spot and they'll stand there until you say otherwise or move far away, and won't attack unless you say so when set to passive or defensive, so you can have the point buffs but not have them risk dying. Enemies typically won't attack them at all unless they manage to get right in the middle of a group of enemies and you're not near them, which shouldn't happen if you're careful. Eddafred
After Parvati died in the first encounter after she joined me, I decided to go lone wolf. I'm focusing on boosting my speech/stealth and lockpick/hack skills, which lets me largely bypass most combat encounters. Lots of XP for lockpicking/hackign everything I see, and using as many speech options as I can, so I'm leveling at a fairly consistent rate. It's tough as nails at times, but it's been a lot of fun thus far.
sunus
Started my supernova playthrough today and I'm definitely going lone wolf. Haven't had much of an issue with combat yet after a few hours. Hunting rifle + stealth is lethal even on supernova apparently. My only gripe so far is dehydration. The food and sleep seem balanced but the dehydration seems to happen way too quickly. On top of that I find plenty of food but water is so scarce unless you buy it in shops. Even then, the shops don't seem to restock. I'm actually worried that dehydration is going to be what prevents me from completing this mode. I think that they need a patch to make dehydration on par with food/sleep. Just seems off to me. From a real-world perspective, you will die from dehydration faster than from starvation (~3-5 days vs. ~14-21 days). The more you know! Seriously though, I am not as worried about supernova as I was before...it sounds like if you approach it correctly, you'll have no major issues. I'm sure some things will prove to be tough, though. I want to learn how to avoid almost all combat because it seems like on my blind run, I'm fighting quite a bit.

I just think that, for gameplay's sake, the dehydration should either match the sleep/food meters or they should make water more plentiful. It is by far what I find the least of. I get tons of food and can sleep anytime I want. Water, however is WAY too scarce. If they want realistic then I should be able to drink from any sink. Or even some natural bodies of water. It's not a huge deal. I'm sure I'll get through it. It just isn't fun to drink and then 5 minutes later get a penalty for being below 75% again. It's actually discouraging me from exploring because the longer I roam the more water I will need overall. That isn't good.

Gage
I think any liquid that's not alcohol counts, so all the caffeine drinks do as well. I do agree the thirsty thing is a little overbearing. The rate it drops would be fine if you didn't have the stat penalty so quickly. For drinking IMO it should be like at least half before you get a penalty, because I don't know about anyone else but I don't typically lose my mental faculties if I don't drink water for a few hours. SoPoF
But if I need to order the team to stay away, be passive and keep an eye on whether someone attacks them ... why bother? They're not helping, so I might just as well leave them at home and benefit from lone wolf perks. I tried melee and putting everything into strength and defenses. So far, it works, though larger groups are somewhat problematic in open areas. Hope that launch towards enemy skill will help with that once it unlocks. I never even bothered to recruit anyone. Just me with my hunting rifle and an assault rifle. Only problem I had was the final mission. I rushed through the game and didn't get enough bits to upgrade my rifle. So I couldn't 1 shot anything in the prison from stealth and my 2-shot kills alerted everything. It was touch and go but it wasn't too bad. To be honest the difficulty felt exactly the same as hard just with the annoying dehydration meter. When I start my Supernova play through, is it important to do side quests/activities to stay leveled (XP), or can I just breeze through the main quest? In other words, do the enemies level with you as you go or are they set levels (i.e., if I am level 12 at endgame, is the final encounter/quest going to be level 30)? I did all quests in the first area. After that I skipped everything except main quests. I believe I was level 21 when I started the final mission. It was a bit of a pain because my weapons weren't as leveled as they should've been but doable. I just took it real slow. I also respec'd my character right before starting the last mission and put 100 points into lockpicking. That allows you to skip right past the final boss. Just make sure you find a favorite weapon or two when you hit Monarch (Ultra variety) and focus all your bits on upgrading as much as you can. Good luck! Killbomb
When you fast travel to your ship the game autosaves where you were when you initiated travel so you can use that to your advantage especially in the outdoor areas.

That allows you to skip right past the final boss. Fair warning here, you also need high Hacking skills (83 or so) for this. I can't do it now because I only took lockpicking and the savefiles left me with respecing cost of 16000 bits which I obviously don't have. However, Persuasion 100 let's you pass the final boss, too, there, and the boss isn't really all that hard on Supernova, anyways. I died literally right before the final shot only because I hadn't noticed it ... spoilers, but it's easy if you pay attention. So, just finished Supernova. It was as broken and easy as on Normal. All additional features do not make it more difficult, but very annoying.

I was positive that I only had 50 in hacking and 100 in lockpicking to skip the final boss. Just curious because I don't recall having to hack anything. But like I said, I am old and do forgot things. A lot of things. Glad that you finished it. And you're right, supernova isn't hard at all. The dehydration is the only part I found annoying. Though I did speed through the campaign for that run. Doing a relaxed story playthrough now that the platinum is over.
SoPoF
Right behind the door you pick the lock of is a terminal, but to access it, I would have needed 83 hacking. (I think the number was 83, but in any case a high number like that.) There was nothing else there that would have allowed me to proceed. Unless one can pick the lock of the door opened by Persuasion ...? That one leads to a long hallway you can just walk through to the end.

HENO
Yeah, the water gauge goes down faster that's for sure, however, I don't have a problem with that tbh. Water and food are abundant especially if you're stealing everything you can like I am doing, it's really manageable. I did got REALLY annoyed with the concussed stat that requires you to sleep, now THAT is annoying. I probably got that 3 or 4 times from landmines in the first map alone! Timmah200
On the topic of Supernova sucking, is there a way to complete "Radio Free Monarch" by killing both factions hogging the airwaves instead of doing their side quests to speed things up? Should be noted I am trying to earn "Mightier than the Sword" also. And, I am not really following speed run strats.

Applies for a number of quests in the game, you just have to deal with the fact that that makes everyone around them quite angry.

No, people's stuff in monarch doesn't matter. You just have to leave Reed in charge of Edgewater then have been working with Sophia. When you go back to her after dealing with stuff in Monarch you'll earn Mightier than the Sword.
