Introduction:

Ninja Usagimaru: Two Tails of Adventure is an action puzzle game by Arc System Works and Aksys Games. Originally released on the Nintendo 3DS as two separate games, The Gem of Blessings and The Mysterious Karakuri Castle, Ninja Usagimaru: Two Tails of Adventure is a combo pack of those two games. You can choose either game from the main menu and can switch between the two whenever you like.

Each game has its own unique story featuring Usagimaru as he tries to save villagers from the Mononoke or thwart evil schemes by solving cleverly designed puzzles. This is a beautiful and well made, sprite-based game and is a challenging, yet fun experience spread out over 130 stages and will be a great addition to any Vita library!

As for trophies, most are quite easy. The real challenge in obtaining some of them is in solving the puzzles. The Gem of Blessings is the easier of the two games and is the better choice when starting out. Many of the things you learn in The Gem of Blessings will help you in solving some of the more difficult puzzles in The Mysterious Karakuri Castle. Without a guide, yes, both games can be very difficult in the later stages. If you need help and haven't already looked in Stacheldraht's thread, Walkthroughs, kind of, you should definitely have a look! He has links to a Japanese Youtube user that posted videos for all the stages. The Gem of Blessings is edited and works great if you ever get stuck. The videos for the stages in The Mysterious Karakuri Castle, however, are not edited and require a lot of skipping around to find where the user solved a puzzle. They are in sequence, they just unfortunately show all the trial and error involved. Several of them go beyond 5 minutes so you'll need to kind of watch them and piece them together to see how you can solve the puzzles in fewer steps than they did. Additionally, Stacheldraht made some videos and has them linked and they are all under 5 minutes.

Walkthrough:

Step 1: Choose a game to play and complete all the stages.

As said earlier, you can choose either game to start and switch back and forth at will. Either way, The Gem of Blessings has 6 chapters and The Mysterious Karakuri Castle has 7 and each chapter has 10 stages. Your first goal is to complete each chapter as each one will net you a story related trophy. You can also go for most trophies at any time. All numbered trophies - do something a certain amount of times - can be farmed pretty quickly or you can just gain them with regular play as none of them require too many actions except for Legendary Rabbit (G) which requires 1000 jumps.

As an extra note, if you choose to farm any trophy, the best method is to find a stage with your necessary "something" - air vent for the kite or chipped block to break - and use a pinwheel (tap :triangle:). Now you can simply do the action like using your kunai (tap :circle:) to break a chipped block and just hit :start: button to pause and choose Pinwheel. This way you can quickly redo the action needed until you get your trophy instead of having to restart the stage to get back to the same place and perform that action.

Note: All story related trophies unlock after you (tap :cross:) to exit the stage summary screen and enter the loading screen.

By the end of this step you should have the following trophies:

(B) Process of Growth

(B) Nervous Disposition

(B) Evil Doer

(B) Like a Shadow

(B) Looking for Hope

(B) Need Alone Time

(B) Never Give Up

(B) Whole Body Aches

(B) Betrayer

(B) New Skill

(S) Blocks Breaker

(S) Crossbow Master

(S) Kite Master

(S) Hookshot Master

(S) Fashion Hunter

(S) Hot Spring Lover

(G) Legendary Rabbit

and also:

If you chose The Gem of Blessings:

(B) Brave Traveler

(B) Finding People

(B) Mercy Traveler

(S) Finding Toyotama

(S) Walking with Cherry Blossoms

(G) Defeated the Evil

If you chose The Mysterious Karakuri Castle:

(B) Moving Forward

(B) Jumping to Conclusions

(B) Recharging

(S) One to Depend On

(S) Nothing But the Truth

(G) Affable Adventurer

Step 2: Galus's Quests and Go Like the Wind

Both games have a base of 6 chapters and 10 stages as mentioned before. After you finish Mechanical Castle stage VII of The Mysterious Karakuri Castle, however, a new set of 10 stages will unlock called Galus's Quests. Finishing the 10 stages will unlock the trophy Reliable Traveler (G). There are a couple really easy stages here and a few really difficult ones. Stage X is particularly tough and took me an hour to figure out.

Most stages are pretty quick, though some aren't. For the trophy Go Like the Wind (G) you need to have finished every stage, including Galus's, in under 5 minutes. This can be really challenging in later stages and may require you to strategize how you can most efficiently finish a stage.

At the end of this step you should have the following trophies:

(G) Galus's Quests

(G) Go Like the Wind

(P) Legendary Traveler

Step 3: Clean Up

If you've missed any trophies it'll be easy to go back and get them with stage select. Most take only take a couple of minutes.

Get in the teleporter 15 times in a stage.

The first time you can use the teleporter is in Snowy Path I of The Mysterious Karakuri Castle. Simply enter a teleporter and tap  to teleport and do this 15 times to unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/3d6.jpg Need Alone Time (B)

Leave a released villager alone for 3 minutes.

The easiest way to get this trophy is in The Gem of Blessings. In the very first level, Silent Village I, move the block in front of you onto the Mononoke switch. The villager is dropped to the ground. Leave her tied for 3 minutes and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/595.jpg Never Give Up (B)

Fall into traps 50 times.

There are spike traps in many stages. You'll get this during normal play for sure, though if you want to speed it up, find a stage with a spike trap and plant a pinwheel next to it with :triangle:. Now just step on the spike and choose Pinwheel. Do this process 50 times for the trophy to unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/ba5.jpg Whole Body Aches (B)

Be defeated by enemies 50 times.

Another trophy you'll get during your normal progression. To speed it up, find an enemy and plant your pinwheel nearby. Just keep continuing from the pinwheel and be hurt by enemies 50 times for the trophy to unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/d47.jpg Betrayer (B)

Let the villagers be hurt 5 times.

You'll probably get this trophy by trial and error when releasing villagers. To speed it up, find a stage with a villager dangling over a spike trap or near an enemy. Use your pinwheel next to the switch that will release the villager. Drop them five times so they get hurt, then the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/ac8.jpg New Skill (B)

Get the Crossbow.

Story related and cannot be missed.

You'll get the crossbow after stafe VII of Green Passage in The Mysterious Karakuri Castle. After the crossbow unlocks, the trophy unlocks.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/9ed.jpg Crossbow Master (S)

Shoot the crossbow 15 times.

The first time you can use the crossbow is in stage IX of Karakuri Village. Use the crossbow by tapping  when prompted. Shimmy across it so it will break when you drop off of it. Repeat this process 15 times for the trophy to unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/2d1.jpg Kite Master (S)

Use the kite 30 times.

After finishing Silent Village III in The Gem of Blessings you get the cloth for the kite. The first time you can use the kite is in the next chapter, Frozen Valley stage VIII. Hop onto the air vent and hold  then tap :circle:, tap :cross: to drop. For this trophy, just float, drop - rinse and repeat 30 times.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/e15.jpg Hookshot Master (S)

Use the hookshot 30 times.

After finishing Silent Village IX of The Gem of Blessings you'll get the chain for the hookshot. The first time you can use it is in Frozen Valley V or you can use it in Maple Forest II of The Mysterious Karakuri Castle. Use it 30 times and the trophy is yours.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/131.jpg Go Like the Wind (G)

Clear every stage in 5 minutes or less.

Most stages are easy to finish in under 3 minutes, let alone 5. The harder stages will require you to strategize the quickest method in the fewest steps. You can overthink things easily, so after any major set of moves, plant a pinwheel. If you do make a mistake, this allows you to just pick right back up and continue without the restart. Don't do that too much though since the clock keeps advancing as you play, pinwheel or not. The clock is a running clock in the sense that it never resets to where it was when you planted the pinwheel. With practice, most stages are easy to get under 5 minutes. To get the trophy you do have to finish Galus's 10 stages as well.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/ee8.jpg Process of Growth (B)(H)

Retry a stage 10 times.

A very easy trophy you can get in stage I of Silent Village or any stage. Just hit retry from the pause screen 10 times to unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/6cf.jpg Nervous Disposition (B)(H)

Use the pinwheel 10 times in a stage.

This is a very easy and quick trophy. During any stage just plant a pinwheel 10 times to unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/d9b.jpg Evildoer (B)(H)

Defeat the enemies 10 times in a stage.

The easiest way to get this trophy is to pick up a block and drop it on an enemy by holding  and tapping :square:. Since enemies don't die, they just get squished, pick the block back up, wait for the enemy to reform and drop it on them again. Do this 10 times in the stage to unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/ee5.jpg Looking for Hope (B)(H)

Take longer than 10 minutes to solve a stage.

As the trophy description says, just take 10 minutes or longer in a stage to unlock the trophy.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/ffb.jpg Blocks Breaker (S)(H)

Break 100 chipped blocks.

You break chipped blocks by tapping :circle: to use your kunai. You can get this just with normal progression which doesn't take too long or plant a pinwheel next to a chipped block and just keep restarting from that pinwheel and break 100 for the trophy to unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/ec8.jpg Fashion Hunter (S)(H)

Changed into the Cerberus clothing.

You'll get the Cerberus clothing after finishing Foggy Bamboo VI of The Gem of Blessings. During any stage select, hit :square: to change your clothes. Choose Cerberus and tap :cross: and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/e1f.jpg Hot Spring Lover (S)(H)

Changed into the Towel clothing.

You'll get the towel clothing after finishing Mt Hot Spring VII of The Mysterious Karakuri Castle. During any stage select, tap :square: to change your clothes. Choose Towel and tap :cross: and the trophy will unlock.

http://www.playstationtrophies.org/images/trophies/6077/3f3.jpg Legendary Rabbit (G)(H)

Jump 1000 times.

This trophy is one you'll earn just by playing either game normally. You'll reach 1,000 jumps probably by the third chapter of either game as I did. You will be jumping a lot, however if you want to rush it, it takes about 10 minutes to jump 1,000 times. After 1,000 jumps, the trophy unlocks.
