State of Anarchy is a basic twin stick shooter. It has hand drawn cartoon graphics, a decent sound track, and all sound effects apparently voice generated....Pew Pew Pew...

 

Gameplay is pretty straightforward, with not too steep a learning curve and no major difficulty spikes. Twin stick veterans should have very little difficulty. It is rather repetitive though, with very little overall variation. As you go on, you unlock more weapons, but basic combat changes little, and missions are highly repetitive.

 

Trophy wise it is a pretty basic list. Most of it will come naturally through the course of your playthrough - the game consists for 48 Levels, but these flow from one to the next as opposed to strictly defined missions. Unfortunately, there is a grind left at the end, as the last few upgrade trophies will not come during a standard playthrough.

 

Fortunately, the game is overall relatively short, and twin stick fans will probably enjoy it for what it is - a few hours of mindless shooting, with nothing to taxing if you just want some trophies.

Step 1 - Complete the 48 Main Story Missions on Normal

 

When you start the game, just play. Make sure you select Normal as there are no trophies related to difficulty. The game begins and throws you right into the action. There really isn't much to learn though - if it moves, shoot it.

 

Missions always feature a big red arrow that points you to your target. You can get in cars to move you quicker (and later on, it is really suicidal to try to navigate out of a vehicle). Initial targets are always a Bank, where you are tasked with killing the Boss in the centre. Waves of basic enemies will attack you, so move around and take them out to make your fight easier.

 

Typically the early missions are drive to a Bank, kill the Boss, then move on to the next mission. I would suggest driving over enemies as you go, as there is a trophy for doing this 200 times which might otherwise not come naturally.

 

As you progress through missions, you will periodically be hijacked by a UFO and taken to an alien planet. For these missions, you have to destroy a number of Power Turrets (these are again marked by a red arrow), then progress to destroy an Alien Boss. These are usually followed by an in space mission, which then leads you back to earth.

 

Really that's all there is to the game, cycling you back and forth between these two standard mission types.

 

For this stage, simply complete the missions in order. Upgrade as you go (I would focus on health and damage/distance upgrades). You will get upgrade points for your character (called Talents) after every 3 Level Ups, and Weapon Upgrades can be purchased with cash collected.

 

Each time you beat a boss you will get a new primary or secondary weapon. Unfortunately you CANNOT swap weapons out, so you are stuck with what the game gives you. A few are more useless than others, but typically either your primary or secondary weapon will be serviceable.

 

Once you have completed all 48 Story Missions you will be done the game, and should have most of the trophies naturally.

Step 2 - Grinding

 

Unfortunately after finishing the game in its entirety, you will still be short a few trophies - these will likely be for reaching maximum Character Level (you'll probably be around Level 50), and will still need a number of Weapon Upgrades and Talents. Fortunately there is a good farming technique that won't take too long to grind.

 

Lastly, you may be short for the trophies for driving over 200 Rioters, and for shooting 3000.

 

Once you finish these, you should have your Platinum.

Shoot 500 rioteers

 

Rioteers are the human enemies that appear during the Bank missions. This trophy should pop early on in the game as you will be shooting everything that moves.

Collect 1000 cash

 

Cash drops with each enemy killed. You will need quite a bit of Cash for the Weapon Upgrade trophies, so this should come early and naturally. Note that Cash will be collected as you walk over/close to it, but if you leave the area or leave it on the ground for too long, it will eventually disappear.

Shoot 3000 rioters

 

Unlike (B) Enforcer, this will likely not come easily, and there is no easy way to grind it. Every human enemy should count though, so the best way to farm this at the end of the game will be to load a Bank mission and proceed inside. Do not kill the Bank Boss though, stay towards either side and let the Rioteers spawn. There will be aliens mixed in, but at least you won't have to deal with vehicles as you would out in the open.

 

This will take a while, and unfortunately there is no tracker to help. Expect to spend at least an hour of grinding, depending on how many kills you got during your regular playthrough.

 

The trophy will pop as soon as you hit 3000, you do not need to complete the mission.

 

While this can be done on any Bank mission, I would suggest Mission 45, as there are about 15 Rioteers during each wave, so you can probably clear about 30 a minute this way. While the game doesn't specify, I would assume only Rioteers shot with your primary/secondary weapon will count, not those destroy by environmental explosions, melee kills or by driving over them.

 

Lastly, I would strongly recommend doing this grind BEFORE grinding for (G) Master of Mayhem. You will probably get 5-10 XP Levels cleaning up these kills which will in turn reduce the time for that grind.

Destroy 100 cars

 

Simply destroy 100 enemy ground vehicles. This will come as you work through the earth based Bank missions. There should be no need to farm this, but if you somehow do miss it, load any Bank mission and stay outside, in a vehicle. Enemies will continuously spawn as you drive around, focus on destroying the vehicles.

Shoot 600 aliens

 

Aliens are any flying enemies encountered during earth missions, and basically everything encountered in space and on alien planets. You will earn this well before the end of the game.

Land 18 large UFOs

 

Large UFOs are any flying enemy with a red health bar over top of it. The smaller flying enemy ships do not count. There are lots of these that you will have to destroy in order to complete the alien based missions, so this cannot be missed as you play through the game.

Destroy 400 turrets

 

Turrets are any ground based unit on alien planets. Again, these are mandatory to destroy in order to complete the alien missions, so this will pop as you play through the game.

Eliminate 29 bank bosses

 

Bank Bosses are the main enemy located in the centre of each Bank. They have a red health bar, and must be killed in order to complete the Bank missions. You will need to complete more that 29 of these in order to finish the campaign, so this will come naturally as you play.

Run over 200 rioteers

 

Rioteers are the human enemies that appear during the Bank missions. When driving around outside the Bank, they will attack on foot. Driving over them typically is a one hit kill. You will get quite a few of these naturally as you play, but it is entirely possible that you won't hit 200.

 

I would make a mental note to try to drive over as many as you can as you move around the open world in the early missions.

 

If you reach the end of the campaign and have not unlocked this, load Mission 48, which has you flying around in a small ship. There are a lot of Rioteers in this Mission, and unlike the car, the flying ship will always kill them in one hit. It should not take too long to grind out the remaining kills.

 

There is no tracker to note your progress, but the trophy will pop as soon as you hit 200 kills

Medkits are dropped at random as you kill enemies, turrets, and there are always 2 inside each Bank. You will pick up a lot of these as you play, so both the trophy for 25 and 200 should come naturally.

XP in this game is earned every time you kill an enemy. This will progress over the course of your playthrough, but by the time you finish the game, you will probably only be around Character Level 50.

 

Rubhen925 has found a very efficient method to grind XP after finishing all Missions. You can Mission select from the main menu, and should choose Mission 46. From your starting point, go south and you should see 3 Turrets to the left, behind an energy barrier, that spawn infinite enemies. You can position yourself to stand and kill these enemies while not destroying the Turrets. Using this method, you can gain an XP Level every 1-2 minutes, so you should not take too long to reach Level 90.

Along the way, make sure you collect the Cash, as you will need it for the Weapon Upgrades. Every 3 XP Levels you will unlock a Talent Point to spend.

 

When you are done grinding, or if you destroy the Turrets (this will happen due to splash damage and critical hits), let yourself get killed to force a save. This will take you back to the menu where you can apply Talent Points and purchase Weapon Upgrades for those trophies.

 

As you Level up, you will gain trophies at Level 15, 30 & 60, before reaching this trophy for Level 90, which will likely be the final trophy before your (P).

Weapon Upgrades can be purchased using Cash collected as you defeat enemies. Cash can be used to Upgrade your Weapon Damage, Critical Hit chance, Range and Rate of Fire.

 

Personally I used a relatively balanced distribution, with a bit more emphasis on Damage and Range.

 

There do not appear to be maximum levels for each Weapon Upgrade, so feel free to apply points as your play style dictates. Do note, however, that different Upgrades have different costs - Damage and Critical Hit are much more expensive than Range and Rate of Fire.

 

You likely will only have about 25 Upgrades when you finish the game. Cash is not overly abundant in this game. I would therefore suggest using the Cash you collect while grinding Level XP (refer to (G) Master of mayhem for an easy way to farm XP after completing the game) for the least expensive Upgrades once you have completed the main game.

 

This trophy will unlock when you have purchased 50 Weapon Upgrades, regardless of how you distribute them. Along the way, you will earn trophies for 10, 20 and 40 Upgrades.

Talents are unlocked with points that are earned as your Character Levels Up. Typically, for every 3 Levels, you earn 1 Talent Point. These can then be applied to upgrade your Health, Speed, Kick (repels enemies that get close to you), Rage and Bloodlust (gives you a chance to regain Health each time to kill an enemy).

 

Personally I found Health and Bloodlust most useful to upgrade, with a few points in the other attributes.

 

All Talents cost one point, so feel free to apply points as your play style dictates. This trophy will unlock when you have applied 40 Talent points, regardless of how you distribute them. Do note, however, that Health and Bloodlust cap out at level 12, and the other 3 at level 8. Along the way, you will earn trophies for 10, 20 and 30 Talents.

 

You should have enough Talent points before you reach XP Level 90. Please refer to (G) Master of mayhem for an easy way to farm XP after completing the game.
