Death From Above Trophy

Does anyone have any tips on this trophy? This is proving to be incredibly difficult (at least for myself, as I suck at flying in Battlefield) and I'd love to get this knocked out. I know the basic controls and how to switch to 3rd person view, which helps for controlling the plane, but I have a number of questions, like how do you make the planes drop bombs? And is there a scope so you can see what you're dropping bombs over, along the lines of Far Cry 5? Do kills count if you're the gunner in a plane? What if you suicide the plane into the manned stationary gun - does the kill still count?

 

I know a mode is coming called 'Airborne' and I'm hoping it makes this a little easier but for know this seems nearly impossible. Any tips in addition to answers to the above questions is very much appreciated. Thanks!

If airborne is anything like BF1 then it’ll be in the sky only. Hopefully anyone manning a turret in another plane will count but it’s unlikely

I suck at flying in these games, it has hindered me since bf3 and since then I’ve been happy there hasn’t been any platinum stoppers due to flying.... until now

I tried flying yesterday and was all over the place. Let alone aiming, hitting and knowing where a fixed weapon is to attack

 

I wonder if a kamakazi style kill would count

Do it on arras, it's the easiest map to spot the AA gunner on and it respawns almost instantly you'll get plenty of newer players hopping on it to try and shoot planes I got probably 9+ stationary gun destroyed kills in one match, but again it kinda requires luck for someone to even get on the AA to even shoot at you.

 

I used the vanilla bomber to get the kills as well, there's also a reticle where your bombs will hit in third person so it's easy peasy.

 

It's stationary gun kills only aka the AA gun and AV anti vehicle gun that's for ground armor.

Also, how in the heck do you bring up the bombing scope / reticle???? I finally figured out you switch to bombs with triangle and release them with R2, but where the heck is the reticle!?!?! Do you need to be in first person view for it, as I'm flying in 3rd person to make it a lot easier. Any input is greatly appreciated!

I think it's hard to boost. I've tried today with a friend. Since there is no option to switch teams, you have to pray and wait for the game to put you in different teams. But it is not that easy...

We found if we are talking via party chat, the game always puts you in the same team, even if we join the server separately.

We then tried with other account. My friend used it (I have not this account on my friends list). Finally it worked. We both were not on any party chat, and I sent him an invitation to join a new created party chat when we were on different teams.

 

But we couldn't boost anything because we found a server with not many players so when the match finished, people just left and no enough players to start a new one.

 

You have to know where exactly is the enemy respawn stationary gun, because once you're flying, automatically will have an opponent shooting at you like hell.

 

This trophy is really stupid because it will make some players to be focused on it (like us today), so we didn't care about flags, kills or the match itself.

Boosted this today by myself with my second ps4 lol

Just make sure the second player is not on your friend list so that game doesn't put you together on the same team but if it did then one of you should leave and rejoin. (Team swap is probably coming soon)

One guy use the gunner on the ground (the mobile ones work too, drive that far away from spawn area so people don't drive it, you can find them on main spawn area of twisted steel) and of course don't join any squads.

The other player chooses the bomber plane, press triangle to switch to the bomb (4 bombs), in third person camera you'll see a white circle, when the gunner is in it spam R2 and at the same time move the plane towards the ground like you want to crash it so that the white circle stays on the gunner. Then fly to one of the resupply areas to get bombs again.

In first person camera press L2 to aim. I personally found the 3rd camera easier.

From what i understood you need to kill the player and destroy the stationary weapon, the game will tell you if you destroyed it.

found it easier to do on hamada, conquest

as you can always dive behind the cliffs for cover

from enemy fire

you can play the second part of the first war story

on easy to practice

just get a plane from the airport and try to destroy

AA guns and targets with bombs

frustrating at times but will get it in the end

I did this in twisted steel and on a server that seemed to have an active game going with 6 per side. I brought my dummy account in , drove a portable AA truck to the end of the bridge (either side is fine) and had the dummy throw some C4 on it. Got my bomber , prayed there wasn’t a pilot with skills that could take me down in seconds and got 3 in one round.

 

Took me a while to find another game similar , but I was hopping in and out of lobbies like mad in search for the lowest people in an active game (conquest). I think something similar was mentioned at the top of the page. This took me a few hours to do, but German servers were good for this (I’m in Australia). And trust me , I’m no pilot.

Managed to get this after a few hours.

 

Few points for me getting it:

-Go German only and use the JU-88.

-Use the 50kg bombs to start with, makes leveling up really easy. Drop all of these and the 250kg bombs while bearing down on targets (prioritise flags that are being taken over by the enemy). I only managed 1/5 at this point but was mainly for leveling up the plane.

-If you are lucky enough to get into a plane at the start head straight for the flag closest to the enemy base... Usually a nice 3k worth of points.

-Do a bit of recon at each flag point of Fjell-652 so you know where some of the stationary weapons are.

-Once the plane is rank 4 respec to have the 50kg and the 1000kg bombs. Drop all of these on any targets you're aiming for.

-I found flags C and D on Fjell-652 the easiest to loop around on and generally had a lot of people fighting at these points. I got my remaining 4/5 in a couple of hours between these points.

They are patching bombers and AA guns on the patch due to be released on Tuesday.

 

Bombers will be nerfed and AA guns will be boosted.

 

Get this trophy while you can otherwise you will need to boost.

Tips are:

 

FJELL

Conquest

JU88 - Axis

1000kg bombs (level 4 unlock)

Divebomb B and E objectives all game and just respawn when you crash.

 

I got the AA at objective E 4 times, it seems the most open

Just got the trophy/plat last night. I’ve been struggling with this for the past week even with an upgraded plane. My frustrations were based on too many people fighting for a slot to fly, and too much combat throughout the round to find a manned AA gunner.

 

Surprisingly, last night was a major breakthrough for me. I destroyed all five manned guns in two consecutive games on Fjell. Shedding some light on what I did to hopefully help others…

 

For those in the states, I found that joining a European server (mainly German) past 6-7pm EST helped a ton. You can join a half empty American server but I found those fill up too fast during the afternoon. With it being past midnight overseas, servers are typically half empty or less for the entire round. This gives you more opportunity for bombing attempts. Even if the opposing team has a pilot that’s good, you still have more chances to get back in a plane and find at least one point to bomb before dying.

 

Also, with it being a half empty game, the rounds last longer. Not to mention, opposing team members tend to get a little bored and will hop on AA guns to spice things up. I was able to destroy three manned AA guns in one round. My last two kills were in the following game (joined a new Fjell German server). The majority of gunners I killed were on the side turrets of the mountain near E and A, not necessarily within the points themselves.

 

All in all, a total of two games. Hope this helps someone!

 

**I’m guessing if you’re in Europe, you can try to use the timezone to your advantage and go stateside for servers during your afternoon. However, I’m not sure if the servers stay half empty throughout the round or fill up regardless of it being in the wee hours of the morning.

I played my first game today, any idea how to get the plane with bombs? Every time I got a plane it just had a machine gun.

 

I played on the both sides and it never gives me a plane with bombs.

Anyone know how to unlock the bomber? Do I really need to rank up the first plane 8 times? That seems impossible, what can it do beside spot enemies to get points? I've flown 3 games straight and only half a rank. This plane takes forever to shoot another down where they seem to melt me in seconds.

There are several planes to choose from when you spawn in as a plane.

 

Not all of them have bombs but you also don't need to "unlock" them either.

 

Just look at the deploy screen when you choose the "Plane" icon:

 

In the bottom of the screen it shows which plane you selected. You can change this with L1/R2. You can see which ones have bombs (there are icons showing what each plane is equipped with) before spawning.

 

Same applies to tanks, by the way. There are several to choose from.

Does it apply to your overall level then? I did see the L1/R1 but it doesn't do anything. If I hit square button it will then got to the change screen but nothing else is unlocked.
